ISRAEL’S PERPETUAL STATE OF WAR

Israel, in order to continue with its ‘perpetual state of war’ has to convince its citizens that the ‘threat’ is real. We saw this today when the air raid sirens sounded throughout the country in what was the state’s largest civilian drill.

MOTHER PALESTINE… A DEDICATION

I dedicate this artwork to a Palestinian elderly woman called Mrs.
Zarefa, 95 years old, grandmother of the artist and good friend
Mohammed Abo Afefa, whom I had the honour of meeting in Marka/Shnillar
refugee camp, Jordan. She was expelled from Zakrea village to West
Bank by Israeli forces in 1948, and again after 1967 to Jordan. She
can’t go back to homeland. Her right of return was denied by Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

United Nations General Assembly Resolution 194 requires that Israel grant a right of return to all Palestinians (or compensate them for confiscated lands if the Palestinians choose not to return). Israel's membership in the United Nations as set forth in UN General Assembly Resolution 273 specifically requires Israel to comply with Resolution 194.

Therefore, in light of Israel's refusal to allow Zarefa (and thousands just like her) to return to her home, Israel is in violation of the terms by which it became a member of the United Nations.

Israel's membership in the United Nations is therefore null and void.

Judge: Gitmo legal documents must be made public

A federal judge ordered the United States on Monday to publicly reveal unclassified versions of its allegations and evidence justifying the continued imprisonment of more than 100 detainees being held at Guantanamo Bay.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The reason for sealing unclassified reports is that they show that most of the people locked up on Guantanamo haven't actually done anything wrong to justify their treatment.

The Newest Ruse: Banks Capitalizing on “Toxic Assets” to Book Puffed-Up Profits

Sadly, millions of investors will likely interpret this as a sign that the U.S. financial sector is once again a viable “profit” play - when the reality is that Wall Street hasn’t learned a single darned thing from the financial crisis and is up to its old tricks once again.

This time around, the biggest U.S. banks - including JPMorgan, BofA, and PNC - will employ an obscure accounting rule to magically transform the “toxic debt” that they obtained from such “zombie banks” as Wachovia Corp., Countrywide Financial Corp., National City Corp., and Washington Mutual Inc. (OTC: WAMUQ) into actual income.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The economy is not improving; it's just more bookkeeping tricks.

ADL Director declares war on freedom of speech

On the ADL's website they state their mission is "to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all." That sounds fair enough but the organization has gone out of its way to vilify anyone who disagrees with their political agenda. On a number of occasions as I have pointed out they have opposed the right to freedom of speech. The ADL has smeared as anti-semites, Professor John Mearsheimer for his book critical of the Israeli Lobby and former President Jimmy Carter for his book "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid". The ADL has also supported Europe and Canada's policies on prosecuting what their governments deem as hate speech.

Notes of the meeting state that Powell “indicated that he would have to talk to his colleagues [including Taft] on ICRC’s issue of access to detainees in Afghanistan and elsewhere.”

The next month, February 2004, the ICRC gave Bush administration officials a confidential report which found that U.S. occupation forces in Iraq often arrested Iraqis without good reason and subjected them to abuse and humiliation that sometimes was “tantamount to torture” in violation of the Geneva Conventions.

State will allow Madoff victims to write off losses

New York State will allow many Ponzi scheme victims, including those ensnared by Bernard Madoff's $65-billion investment scam, to write off losses as "theft" under their itemized tax deductions.

The newly issued tax guidelines follow the lead of the Internal Revenue Service, which in March said investors can claim the losses as theft, which allows higher deductions than capital, personal theft and personal casualty loss.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, the SEC sat on their hands (two SEC lawyers who sere supposed to be watching Madoff are under investigation for insider trading with the info), Bernie's clients (including Pro-Israel PACS buying our Congress) are safe from any "claw backs" and Bernie's victims now get to dump their losses on the taxpayers.

Symbols, Hand Signs and Enduring Lies.

People, we don’t have the big guns, the laws or the enforcement mechanisms which were created under the pretense of our protection and which now exist to suppress us. We no longer possess the freedoms that our alleged enemies hate us for possessing. Many of you no longer have your jobs or even your homes. You no longer have your savings. What you have is a greater degree of fear and uncertainty. Cheney: Execute Terrorists If Cuba Prison Must Close

Former Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday that the only alternative to holding some suspected terrorists indefinitely would be to execute them, arguing against the Obama administration's plans to close the Guantanamo detainee prison.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Here is the problem. Bush and Cheney are basing their entire justification of torture and imprisonment of these individuals on the assumption these are the "worst of the worst." Yet the claim is made that they cannot be tried through the normal justice system and sent to regular prisons.

It is clear that the real issue is that these people still stuck in Guantanamo may not be guilty of anything except exceedingly bad luck. They may be among those kidnapped at random and sold to the US forces for the reward money, then tortured into confessing something.

Once they are allowed to go free and tell their side of the story, and the rest of the world sees they are just regular folk caught up in the US torture machine, it will be yet another nail in the war crimes gallows for Bush and Cheney, and another body-check to US credibility.

So, Dick's solution is to silence these "live liabilities", permanently!

Maybe he'll just take them quail hunting.

Space headache a real phenomenon

The researchers believe there are a number of reasons why space travel could cause headaches, the root cause being microgravity.

Microgravity is known to cause lower oxygen levels in the blood and this may be the trigger for space headache.

It can also cause a shift in the body's fluid towards the brain which would raise intracranial pressure - another possible trigger.

Most of the headaches were of moderate intensity, but were bothersome to the astronauts and many needed to take headache pills.

Methinks astronauts travelling to Mars would be very irritable.

The New Paradigm

Our paradigm or worldview provides a framework to organize new information. This is how we "make sense of the world." We filter out what doesn't fit. We can't seem to learn what doesn't conform to our paradigm, i.e. prejudices or "education." Paradigms can be liberating or prisons, depending on how true to reality they are.

About ten years ago, my paradigm began to change when i realized that the government, media & education were actively sabotaging society. I had imbibed feminist and Illuminist propaganda (i.e. "sexual liberation") and was confused and dysfunctional. When I discovered that I couldn't question feminist shibboleths in a university setting, I knew something was very wrong.

Poor Little TARP Banks

The big banks, like Bank of America, Citigroup and JP Morgan Chase, have been getting just about anything they want out of Washington these days. There is one thing, however, that so far they have been denied: the ability to get instant refunds on taxes paid on past profits up to five years back, or “carry-back” relief.

In the economic stimulus bill (H.R. 1) Congress extended carry-back relief to businesses with less than $15 million in annual revenues that have not taken TARP money. The housing market in California is splintering into various broken segments. In one area, you have lower priced beaten down homes flying off the market like pancakes. Yet in these areas, you have to wonder what will happen once the major discounts and inventory run out? Next, you have mid-priced areas that are selling in low numbers but at relatively stable prices. This is the next market to tank because of the large amount of Alt-A and Pay Option ARMs hovering in those markets.

Angry Jewish settlers rampage in West Bank

Jewish settlers rampaged in the West Bank on Monday, wounding four Palestinians, as they vented fury that Israel may answer US calls and dismantle outposts in the territory, officials said.

Jewish extremists blocked roads, hurled rocks at drivers, burned fields, cut down olive trees and opened fire towards Palestinians who tried to chase the trespassers from their fields in the northern West Bank, witnesses said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Amazing how hard the media tries to portray the settlers as the victims here.

More Prime Foreclosures; More Re-Defaults

"Yesterday Fitch ratings estimated that up to 75 percent of the modifications now being done through the administration's Making Home Affordable program will re-default in six months to a year. I'm not talking about the old modifications, which were largely repayment plans that could actually raise monthly payments. I'm talking about the new mods, which lower monthly payments to 31 percent of a person's income.

Fight Government Encroachment into Healthcare!

Congress should put the American people back in charge of healthcare by expanding healthcare tax credits and deductions, increasing access to Health Savings Accounts, respecting privacy and the doctor/patient relationship. Further politicizing and bureaucratizing of healthcare will only increase costs and reduce quality, as demonstrated by most other countries with socialized medicine.

Snyder: Gun-Control Activists Resurrect Agenda
June 1, 2009
By John M. Snyder
Gun rights spokesmen are aware of these attempts to weaken our defenses. In fact, Rep. Ron Paul (R.-Tex.), a stalwart supporter of 2nd Amendment rights for many years, wrote last November wrote that, “Gun control may have faded as a political issue, but the mentality that Washington knows best_and that certain constitutional rights are anachronisms_is alive and well. Look for gun control advocates to bide their time and look for new ways to resurrect the issue in 2008 and beyond.

Class of ’09: You’re Screwed

Like Pericles, your parents inherited a dollar; they leave you a peso. They took over the strongest, richest, most competitive nation in the world. And like Pericles they minded everyone’s business but their own. Now, not only does the US owe money all over town, its government puts out trillions more in IOUs every year – each one with your name on it. You’re not even out in the real world yet, and you’re getting the bill for 50 cents of every dollar the feds spend – almost none of it earmarked for you. But that is the thing about the real world your teachers probably forgot to tell you about. It is more unreal and fantastical than anything you studied.

T-Bonds Get T-Boned

The rise in long-term treasury rates (the increased interest the government has to pay investors to entice them into buying them) is driving up mortgage rates, and will have many detrimental effects on the economy.

So it is important to figure out whether the increase in long-term treasury rates is temporary or longer-term.

Of course, everyone knows that China - the biggest purchaser of Treasury bonds - has shifted from long-term treasuries and into short-term T-bills of 3 years or less.

The Obama flip-flops you don't know

Osama bin Laden: During the presidential debates last year, Obama declared that capturing or killing Osama bin Laden “has to be our biggest national security priority.” In his first TV interview after winning the election, he said the terrorist leader was “not just a symbol. He’s also the operational leader of an organization that is planning attacks against U.S. targets,” and that the additional troops being sent to Afghanistan would hunt him down because “capturing or killing bin Laden is a critical aspect of stamping out Al Qaeda.”

Lawmakers Keep Expenses Off-Line

Lawmakers have demanded greater openness from companies receiving government bailouts but have yet to release online or electronic versions of their own office expenditures -- including taxpayer-funded tabs for leased cars and staff retreats at hotels.

House and Senate lawmakers are given an annual allowance of $1.3 million to $4.5 million to run their offices. Most is spent on staff salaries, but money is also used for official equipment, office supplies and travel.

When a company goes bankrupt, everyone takes a hit: fair or not, workers lose some contract wages, stockholders get wiped out and creditors get fragments of what’s left. That’s the law. But not this time. Stevie the Rat has a different plan for GM: grab the pension funds to pay off Morgan and Citi.

Banks run Congress, top Democrat says

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to deduce that the banking and financial services industry has an outsized influence in Congress.

Wells Fargo, Citigroup and JP Morgan Chase each got bailouts of $25 billion in government bailouts last year. Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs got $10 billion apiece. And AIG, the mammoth insurer that lost billions in bad derivatives bets, has sucked in more than $170 billion.

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama is reticent about bailing out an American state — California.

Financial Stocks Rise; Citigroup Swapped Out Of Dow

U.S. financial stocks rose in early trade Monday as markets focused on General Motors Corp. (GM) formally filing for bankruptcy and a shakeup in the financial-sector composition of the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

So all the spin aside, the real reason for today's 200 point rise is that down-trending Citi has been removed from the list of indicators and Traveler's, which is performing better, put in its place.
