Psychologists Weigh In On 9/11

A new article in U.S. News & World Report quotes a couple of psychologists, one sociologist and one historian to argue that people who question the government's version of 9/11 are prone to false thinking.Initially, remember that, while there are many honorable psychologists and psychiatrists, psychologists helped to create the U.S. torture program, and actively participated in it.

US Scholars: 9/11 and the architects of World War II

Official accounts on 9/11 requires individuals to disregard every single piece of documentation unearthed by 9/11 scholars, independent investigative researchers and eyewitness accounts. Official accounts requires in individuals who are presented with such voluminous evidence, to totally disregard it, and to have "blind faith" in the architects of an aggressive war, now responsible in the deaths of over one million Iraqis alone, in addition to other innocent civilians in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Iraq War Really Is a Crusade

Given that the Iraq war really was a crusade, the fact that the Pentagon is now saying that it may have to leave troops in Iraq for another decade shows that the crusade is still ongoing under Obama.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Entering the city [Jerusalem, July 15, 1099], our pilgrims pursued and killed Saracens up to the Temple of Solomon, in which they had assembled and where they gave battle to us furiously for the whole day so that their blood flowed throughout the whole temple. Finally, having overcome the pagans, our knights seized a great number of men and women, and the killed whom they wished and whom they wished they let live.... Then, rejoicing and weeping from extreme joy, our men went to worship at the sepulchre of jour Saviour Jesus and thus fulfilled their pledge to Him.... They also ordered that all the Saracen dead should be thrown out of the city because of the extreme stench, for the city was almost full of their cadavers. The live Saracens dragged the dead out before the gates and made piles of them, like houses. No one has ever heard of or seen such a slaughter of pagan peoples since pyres were made of them like boundary marks, and no one except God knows their number."

Israeli ‘Compromise’ Would Expand Settlements

But the Netanyahu government can’t really afford a major confrontation with its largest ally, and so it has offered what is being presented as a “compromise” solution. The government will agree to dismantle nearly two dozen illegal outposts so long as the United States promises to stop calling for a halt to settlement growth.

Ending Today's Economic Crisis Simply and Easily, in America and Globally

Economist Michael Hudson explains that "debt leveraging is what caused our economic collapse," so piling on more ("The Recovery Plan from Hell" he calls it) makes things worse, especially the way it's done:

-- in America, by a private banking cartel Federal Reserve bailing out its members to enrich them - the key giant ones referred to as Wall Street; and

-- the US Treasury doing the same thing; it let the federal debt skyrocket to stratospheric levels and affirmed Adam Smith's dictum in The Wealth of Nations that no country ever repaid its debts, surely not huge ones in a private banking cartel run state, and therein lies the problem - easily solved with a bold stroke, thus far not taken nor will it without mass public action demanding it.

Economist: Waterboard the Fed

The U.S. taxpayer footed the bill for the Federal Reserve to create, then loan, trillions in new U.S. currency to banking and insurance interests in an effort to keep the U.S. economy buoyed. So why won’t they disclose how much was loaned, and to whom?

One economist has perhaps the first plausible road to finding out exactly how the real purse of the United States is managed.

US: H-1B workers outnumber unemployed techies

Visions Systems was included in a sweep that led to arrests of some 11 people in six states. The government, in announcing its action, said the companies and people involved were "displacing qualified American workers," but didn't identify how many. In court papers filed last month, the U.S. indicated it may be getting ready to do just that.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Behind that fraudulent displacement of American workers lies an uncomfortable fact; the foreign workers are often more qualified.

The reason is simple. American schools have been transformed from centers of learning teaching science and engineering into political indoctrination centers promoting various agendas such as gay awareness, multiculturalism, intelligent design, and of course, human-caused global warming.

As a result, American workers are highly educated in totally useless areas, while lagging behind the rest of the industrialized world in the basic skills needed to compete in a modern technological marketplace.

China Is Now in Firm Control of U.S. Debt Markets

So far, in the three months of data which have been reported for this year (Jan., Feb., March), the net result was an outflow of capital from the U.S. totaling $211.4 billion.

Does this number suggest China is “trapped” into buying U.S. debt?

The March number is slightly more instructive. This marks the beginning of the newest propaganda-offensive from the U.S. corporate media in asserting (yet again) that the U.S. economy was starting to “recover”. This was epitomized by U.S. court-jester Ben Bernanke prancing around, braying about “green shoots”.

In March, the TIC inflow into the U.S. was a paltry $23.2 billion. However, net purchases of U.S. Treasuries totaled $47.9 billion – meaning the net results for all other categories of U.S. debt was yet another outflow of $24.7 billion.

Does Obama understand Israel's war goal in Iran?

If Israel launches a military attack (= act of war) against Iran, what would the main goal of this attack be?

There is good reason to believe that the goal would be not the direct physical destruction/incapacitation of Iran's nuclear programs but rather, to trigger an all-out US-Iran war in the course of which, Israel's planners hope, the US would do the dirty work in Iran that it is unable to do itself.

This is a course of action of greatest consequence for Americans.

The most powerful grassroots organization of the peace movement, MoveOn, remains silent as the American wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan simmer or escalate.

When he met with Obama in February, Jason Ruben, executive director of MoveOn, told the president it was "the moment to go big," then indicated that MoveOn would not oppose the $94 billion war supplemental request, nor the 21,000 additional troops to Afghanistan, nor the increased civilian casualties from the mounting number of Predator attacks.

What was MoveOn's explanation for abandoning the peace movement in a meeting with a president the peace movement was key to electing? According to Ruben and MoveOn, it was the preference of its millions of members, as ascertained by house meetings and polls.

Once Considered Unthinkable, U.S. Sales Tax Gets Fresh Look

With budget deficits soaring and President Obama pushing a trillion-dollar-plus expansion of health coverage, some Washington policymakers are taking a fresh look at a money-making idea long considered politically taboo: a national sales tax.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Originally, a national sales tax was floated as a replacement for the income tax, given the dubious issue of the ratification of the 16th Amendment.

But in this case, and typical of the government, they are talking about having a sales tax IN ADDITION TO the income tax.

And forget about health care or anything else offered as the justification; the fact is that the US Government is deeply in debt, and since government cannot earn any of their own money, inevitably, they must take it from you.

I mean, look at the last 6 months alone. The Federal Government has loaded an additional $100,000 in tax debt onto every US tax payer; money they are expected to pay back in the coming years for which they will receive no services at all. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

Government has become a black hole into which your life's blood is being sucked, and it will not stop until you stop it.

We all have been tirelessly screaming about issues related to Congressional leaders abdicating their main responsibility of 'oversight.' We have been outraged for way too long at seeing 'no' accountability whatsoever in many known cases of extreme wrongdoing. I spoke with Mark Winne of Channel 2 and was told that it is routine to take down this type of news report, however he was less specific when asked why it wasn’t saved in their archives. A copy of the video played on YouTube for one day then mysteriously disappeared from that site as well.

PetPAC posted, on our site, the written transcript you see below, sent to us by several of our supporters.

Why We Should Listen to Peter Schiff's Bad News

Our society failed spectacularly this decade at solving the problem of how to price houses and mortgage bonds. It would have done better if people had paid more attention to skeptical voices like Schiff's.

Economic disaster for Blacks, Obama is not being their savior

Freedom Rider: Economic Disaster for Black America
by Margaret Kimberley on Wed, 05/20/2009 - 03:03

The day of economic reckoning is appearing early on in the Obama administration, and not just for the president. This is the day of reckoning for the black citizens of this nation, who must soon decide if they will voice their grievances or silence and diminish themselves for the sake of a man who cares so little about them.

Army chief says US ready to be in Iraq 10 years

The Pentagon is prepared to leave fighting forces in Iraq for as long as a decade despite an agreement between the United States and Iraq that would bring all American troops home by 2012, the top U.S. Army officer said Tuesday.

Gen. George Casey, the Army chief of staff, said the world remains dangerous and unpredictable, and the Pentagon must plan for extended U.S. combat and stability operations in two wars. "Global trends are pushing in the wrong direction," Casey said. "They fundamentally will change how the Army works."

Is Obama Another Jimmy Carter?

North Korea thumbs its nuclear nose at Washington.

During the U.S. Presidential primaries last year, I had expressed my misgivings that Barack Obama might turn out to be another Jimmy Carter, whose confused thinking and soft image paved the way for the success of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
The subsequent Iranian defiance of the U.S. and Carter's inability to deal effectively with the crisis in which Iranian students raided the U.S. Embassy in Teheran and held a number of U.S. diplomats hostage led to disillusionment with him in sections of the U.S. and to his failure to get re-elected in 1980.

If Major Alexander Says Torture Doesn't Work, Believe Him

Major Matthew Alexander says that torture doesn't work, that it creates terrorists and that Dick Cheney doesn't know what he's talking about.
In a fresh video from Brave New Films, Matthew aims directly at Cheney:

Major Alexander is a credible witness - he was a U.S. military interrogator for 14 years and recieved a Bronze Star for leading the team that got the information that led to the capture of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi without using torture.

Petraeus Backs Obama, Not Cheney, On Torture And Gitmo

In an appearance on Radio Free Europe on Sunday, the man hailed by conservatives as the preeminent military figure of his generation left little room for doubt about where he stands on some of Obama's most contentious policies.

"I think, on balance, that those moves help [us]," said the chief of U.S. Central Command. "In fact, I have long been on record as having testified and also in helping write doctrine for interrogation techniques that are completely in line with the Geneva Convention. And as a division commander in Iraq in the early days, we put out guidance very early on to make sure that our soldiers, in fact, knew that we needed to stay within those guidelines.

"With respect to Guantanamo," Petraeus added, "I think that the closure in a responsible manner, obviously one that is certainly being worked out now by the Department of Justice -- I talked to the Attorney General the other day [and] they have a very intensive effort ongoing to determine, indeed, what to do with the detainees who are left, how to deal with them in a legal way, and if continued incarceration is necessary -- again, how to take that forward. But doing that in a responsible manner, I think, sends an important message to the world, as does the commitment of the United States to observe the Geneva Convention when it comes to the treatment of detainees."

Empathy and Torture

Right now my daughter is an absolute angel. One of the toughest things my wife and I will be doing over the next several years is teaching her empathy.
Empathy is great because it allows one to put oneself into situations without risk or harm. It informs judgment and reason, and it keeps people safe. Empathy would probably convince my daughter that water boarding really is torture, especially if it was a favorite technique, to be used against prisoners, of the Spanish Inquisition, the Khmer Rouge, the Japanese Army and the North Vietnamese.
Whoops! Waterboarding is torture and it should not take personal experience to verify that fact (I wonder how Mancow and other survive if they must verify every fact including the inadvisability of dropping a toaster in an occupied bathtub).

Nuremberg set a valid precedent for trials of war-crime suspects in Iraq's destruction
By CESAR CHELALA
Benjamin Ferencz, also a former chief prosecutor for the Nuremberg Trials, declared that "a prima facie case can be made that the United States is guilty of the supreme crime against humanity — that being an illegal war of aggression against a sovereign nation."

Big Banks have already killed reforms

As Newsweek noted April 10th, the big boys were using bailout money to aggressively lobby against the regulation of credit default swaps:

Major Wall Street players are digging in against fundamental changes. And while it clearly wants to install serious supervision, the Obama administration—along with other key authorities like the New York Fed—appears willing to stand back while Wall Street resurrects much of the ultracomplex global trading system that helped lead to the worst financial collapse since the Depression.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why would the banks let anything change? They have a fantastic open-air casino that can pay out billions, and all the losses get dumped on the people.

Mutz wasn't satisfied with the deal that allows Schaeffer to avoid prison.

Torturing the Rule of Law

While Congress is sidetracked by who said what to whom and when, our nation finds itself at a crossroads on the issue of torture. We are at a point where we must decide if torture is something that is now going to be considered justifiable and reasonable under certain circumstances, or is America better than that?

“Enhanced interrogation” as some prefer to call it, has been used throughout history, usually by despotic governments, to cruelly punish or to extract politically useful statements from prisoners. Governments that do these things invariably bring shame on themselves.

Jones and his fellow conspiracy theorists are the subject of “New World Order,” an engrossing, scary documentary airing tonight on IFC at 6:45 p.m. New York time.

Bolivia rejects report it is supplying uranium to Iran

Bolivia on Tuesday denied a report by Israel’s Foreign Ministry that it was supplying uranium to Iran for its nuclear program, saying that the country has never produced the element.

“There isn’t even a geological study (of uranium deposits), much less export” of uranium to another country, said Mining Minister Luis Alberto Echazu, according to the Associated Press.

Did Hillary Clinton Threaten UK Over Binyam Mohamed Torture Disclosure?

The identity of the author was one of many questions that bounced around the High Court on Friday, as Mohamed’s lawyers sought once more to challenge the British government’s refusal to release the documents in its possession, but the most interesting little tidbit of information to emerge from these discussions was when one of Mohamed’s barristers referred to the author of the letter as “he,” and a ripple of knowing laughter followed from those who had been informed of the identity of the author, prompting speculation, of course, that “she” was none other than Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State.

Former military interrogator says torture cost hundreds ‘if not thousands’ of American lives

“Torture does not save lives,” Alexander said in his interview. “And the reason why is that our enemies use it, number one, as a recruiting tool…These same foreign fighters who came to Iraq to fight because of torture and abuse….literally cost us hundreds if not thousands of American lives.”

Moreover, Alexander avers that many — as many as 90 percent — of those captured in Iraq said they joined the fight against the United States because of the torture conducted at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If your enemy knows he will be tortured when captured, then he is more willing to fight to the death, making him far more deadly.

To convince your enemy to surrender, they must believe they will be treated humanely after they do so.

MSM: Ohio counties want to use siezed assets to fund services

State legislators ought to make it easier for financially troubled counties to use seized assets from drug cases to pay for essential services, a group that represents Ohio county commissioners said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

... which means the police, instead of fighting crime, will be looking for opportunities to confiscate assets.

We had a case like that a few years back in Malibu, California, in which the police coveted a pricey piece of real estate and decided that if they raided it and found any marijuana plants growing on it, they could confiscate the property under the civil forfeiture laws and balance their departmental budget.

They did not have any evidence against the property owner, of course, but assumed that it would be "likely" to find a marijuana plant on property that large just from a seed dropped by a smoker.

So they raided the place, and the property owner, not aware that the guys in black were cops, tried to defend his home and was killed.

No marijuana was found anywhere on the property.

Folks, what they are talking about here is pillage, where an occupying armed force simply takes what it wants from the population. They may proclaim it just and legal under the rules they make up for themselves, but it is still pillage.

And it will get worse.

The American Form of Government

An explanation of the various forms of government and political systems, and why America is not a democracy, but a republic.

Glossary of definitions:

despotism - a form of government in which the ruler is an absolute dictator (not restricted by a constitution or laws or opposition etc.)

tyranny - the government or rule of a single person (dictator) or absolute ruler.

spectrum - a broad range of varied but related ideas or objects, the individual features of which tend to overlap so as to form a continuous series or sequence

More Proof that Credit Default Swaps Caused the "Credit Crisis"

“It’s premature to judge that the credit meltdown is fully over,” said Kazuto Uchida, chief economist in Tokyo at Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd., a unit of Japan’s largest bank. “Banks remain wary of extending credit to each other due to strenuous concerns about counterparty risk.”....

("Counterparty risk" is, of course, the term for the risk from credit default swaps.)
