"The Rockefellers and their allies have, for at least fifty years, been carefully following a plan to use their economic power to gain political control of first America, and then the rest of the world. Do I mean conspiracy? Yes, I do. I am convinced there is such a plot, international in scope, generations old in planning, and incredibly evil in intent." -- Congressman Larry P. McDonald, November 1975, from the introduction to a book titled The Rockefeller File.

I make no pretense of my outspokenness. I make no contentions, as I neither voted for Barack Obama or John McCain. I protested the process with a clear-conscience vote for Mark Twain, exactly as I said I would.

I have only slowly grown to value the opportunities the Obama Presidency present. He will have a chance to grab at the brass ring.

I make no bones about the prissy yes-men Obama has thus far recruited for his cabinet. Not one of them is legitimate. Not one of them, other than Paul Volcker, impresses me.

Blu-ray uptake could be stalled by recession

BLU-Ray won the format wars, but it hasn't taken off – and now there are fears a recession could stall its progress even further.

A scarcity of cheap Blu-ray video players combined with the effects of a recession are expected to delay take-up of the new, high-definition disc format in Europe, according to media research firm Screen Digest.

"A shortage of cheaper Blu-ray players means that the sub-$US300 ($465) machines that are already appearing on US shelves are unlikely to materialize in Europe this Christmas," Screen Digest analyst Richard Cooper said in a report.

Water vapour discovered on Saturn's moon

Huge plumes of water vapour and ice particles are bursting out from Saturn's moon Enceladus at supersonic speeds in a way that strongly suggests they come from liquid water down below the icy surface, scientists have said.

The research, published in the journal Nature, offers new evidence that the moon may harbor an underground ocean of water, meaning conditions might exist that could support life, even if only microbial organisms.

It is generally considered a courtesy for a newly inaugurated President to overlook any sins of the past incumbent in the interests of 'looking ahead' and in the knowledge that the same good manners will be repeated after his/her own end of term.

The most extreme example of this was Gerald Ford's pardon of Richard Nixon after the latter's ignominious resignation. Arguably necessary for the health of the nation after its 'long nightmare', it was nevertheless handled badly, and Ford paid a price by becoming a one-term President.

Levitt noted that at the time he was mocked when he tried to defend Volcker's actions.

Arsenic in Water at EPA Approved Standards Linked to Heart Disease

What comes to mind when you think of arsenic? For most people, it conjures up a deadly poison used by killers in fictional mystery novels and some real-life murderers, too. Unwittingly taken into the body over many years, arsenic can result in lung, bladder and skin cancers, as well as heart disease, diabetes and neurological damage.

Apple To Boost Movie Piracy, iTunes Competition With Anti-Piracy Feature (AAPL)

If this is true, it's one of the least consumer-friendly things we've ever heard Apple (AAPL) get behind.

According to Wired, Apple has quietly added anti-piracy technology to its new MacBook laptops. If you hook your laptop up to your digital TV, projector, external monitor, etc. -- which we do on a near-daily basis -- to watch movies, it will block you from playing movies you've paid for from iTunes unless you have a "High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection" compatible display.

Ron Paul for Treasury?

He's a policy guy, not a banker. This is important because Paul wouldn't have any "former associates" in the banking industry to cover for, sympathize with, or protect. Paulson, on the other hand, can't escape the whiff of insider-ism in everything he's doing. Questions like "Why isn't the bailout being used as originally planned?" and "Why can't we get a clear picture of who's getting the money and who's being turned down?" may have a reasonable answer, but the overall tone of Cover-Your-Buddy's-Ass can't be ignored.

Who are these guys kidding ?
