North Korea ‘rejects’ UN sanctions, vows to keep building up nuclear forces

A defiant North Korea on Sunday said it “fully rejects” newly expanded UN sanctions over its nuclear and missile tests — blasting the measures as “a crafty hostile act.”

“Whatever sanctions and pressure may follow, we will not flinch from the road to build up nuclear forces which was chosen to defend the sovereignty of the country and the rights to national existence and will move forward towards the final victory,” a foreign ministry spokesman told the state-run KCNA news agency, according to Reuters.

The UN Security Council’s Friday resolution was aimed at “putting a curb on the DPRK’s buildup of nuclear forces, disarming it and causing economic suffocation to it,” the spokesman said, employing an acronym for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Report says Israel planned atomic detonation in Sinai if Six Day War went wrong

One the eve of the Six Day War, with the country surrounded by enemies and unsure of its future, Israel developed a “doomsday” plan to detonate an atomic bomb in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula as a warning to the Arabs, The New York Times reported Saturday.

The report was based on an interview conducted by leading Israeli nuclear scholar Avner Cohen with retired IDF brigadier general Itzhak Yaakov, who reportedly oversaw the plan.

“It’s the last secret of the 1967 war,” Cohen told the paper.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is also the admission that Israel has had nuclear weapons all along, which makes every penny of your money sent to Israel by DC illegal under the Symington Amendment and the Glenn Act.

A 50-Year Occupation: Israel’s Six Day War Started With a Lie

“The existence of the Israeli state hung by a thread,” the country’s prime minister, Levi Eshkol, claimed two days after the war was over, “but the hopes of the Arab leaders to annihilate Israel were dashed.” Genocide, went the argument, had been prevented; another Holocaust of the Jews averted.

There is, however, a problem with this argument: it is complete fiction, a self-serving fantasy constructed after the event to justify a war of aggression and conquest. Don’t take my word for it: “The thesis according to which the danger of genocide hung over us in June 1967, and according to which Israel was fighting for her very physical survival, was nothing but a bluff which was born and bred after the war,” declared General Matituahu Peled, Chief of Logistical Command during the war and one of 12 members of Israel’s General Staff, in March 1972.

Baltimore to Follow New Orleans in Removal of “Racist” Confederate Monuments (Video)

It is a sad day in America when today’s leftist culture of excessive political correctness sees it fit to tear down important historical monuments that honor some of the most important events and people in our history. While very few would argue that it was wrong that the Union ultimately prevailed, this does not mean that is wrong to honor the heroes of the Civil War; on both sides.

In the following video, Right Wing News looks at the latest sad news that the city of Baltimore wants to follow in New Orleans misguided footsteps and remove several important Confederate monuments; including monuments to the great General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson and ones to soldiers, sailors, and women.

Of course, Baltimore is also poised to do this at a time when the city’s public schools are failing and crime is rising; the removal of each statue is estimated to cost $200,000 each. There is also one other group that is infamous for removing statues of figures they disagree with…. the Taliban.

May Uses Terror To Try To Boost Flagging Polls

Ms May’s speech did not address allegations that in 2011, while she was home secretary, Libyan Islamists previously under surveillance in Britain were given back their passports and helped by the government to fly to Libya to fight Muammar Gadaffi’s regime.

Nor did she say why the government is refusing to publish a report on jihadist funding — allegedly because it fingers Saudi Arabia, Britain’s arms industry’s biggest customer.

And former Metropolitan Police officer Peter Kirkham told Sky News that Ms May’s six years as home secretary had resulted in heavy cuts to the number of vital police officers needed to properly control the threat of terror.

Flashback: Theresa May to create new internet that would be controlled and regulated by government

Theresa May is planning to introduce huge regulations on the way the internet works, allowing the government to decide what is said online.

Particular focus has been drawn to the end of the manifesto, which makes clear that the Tories want to introduce huge changes to the way the internet works.

"Some people say that it is not for government to regulate when it comes to technology and the internet," it states. "We disagree."

Senior Tories confirmed to BuzzFeed News that the phrasing indicates that the government intends to introduce huge restrictions on what people can post, share and publish online.

Days before election, British PM accused of using attacks to push for wider surveillance

But authorities have confirmed that the response to Saturday's attack was "police-led," indicating that there was no prior intelligence, suggesting the government was caught entirely by surprise.

Despite the political rhetoric, neither May nor the police have shown any evidence that the internet was involved in any way.

On one part, it gives a possible insight into why no intelligence was picked up in the first place, and yet on the other, questions remain if greater surveillance would have even helped.

Jun 04 17:01

May’s call for more control of internet misleading and misguided

These are not new suggestions, incidentally, but reiterate proposals in the Conservative Party election manifesto.

They are also misleading and misguided. Misleading because the UK, under the Conservatives, has already recently passed the draconian Investigatory Powers Act, which hands sweeping powers of oversight and surveillance to the government and its agencies.

Under its provisions, the entire browsing history of everyone in the UK must be retained for a year and may be accessed by police and various state agencies. Surveillance agencies have new powers to hack computers and devices, including to conduct secret bulk surveillance on populations outside of the UK.

The government also has the right to demand tech companies insert weaknesses, known as backdoors, into devices and software to enable law enforcement to access data. In addition, encryption on messaging services such as WhatsApp can be removed on government request.

Jun 04 16:56

Theresa May criticised over ‘intellectually lazy’ internet regulation proposal

Professor Peter Neumann, director of the International Centre For The Study Of Radicalisation at King’s College London, was also critical of Mrs May’s speech.

He wrote on Twitter: “Big social media platforms have cracked down on jihadist accounts, with result that most jihadists are now using end-to-end encrypted messenger platforms e.g. Telegram. This has not solved problem, just made it different.

“Moreover, few people radicalised exclusively online. Blaming social media platforms is politically convenient but intellectually lazy.”

Jun 04 16:54

‘Blame the internet’ is just not a good enough response, Theresa May

Speaking outside 10 Downing St this morning, Theresa May was much more aggressive in her tone than previously. The London Bridge attack had its roots in Islamic extremism, she observed: “We cannot allow this ideology the safe space it needs to breed. Yet that is precisely what the internet, and the big companies that provide internet-based services, provide.” She continued: “We need to work with allied democratic governments to reach international agreements that regulate cyberspace to prevent the spread of extremism and terrorism planning.”

Which goes to show that when you need a scapegoat, the internet will always be there, as will big internet companies. The latter are by now becoming familiar with the process: there is an attack; the dots are joined to show how their services were used for tuition and/or planning; governments demand “action”; the companies improve their methods for removing extremist content; and we await the next cycle.

Navy Officer Heads To Prison for mishandling classified information in an attempt to impress women.

Naval officer Lt. Cmdr. Edward C. Lin will serve six years in prison for mishandling classified information in an attempt to impress women.

The end result of the case is somewhat different from what was first reported by media outlets. Rather than being an international spy case, it turns out that Lin was not intentionally handing over secrets to foreign governments.

“While this case didn’t turn out to be related to foreign intelligence — not really a ‘spy’ case — the sentence sends a strong message to the force about taking care to safeguard classified and sensitive information,” Rob Bracknell, a Marine veteran and military lawyer, told USNI News.

“It also invites comparison to other more high profile classified and sensitive information cases in Washington, and it may be fair criticism that senior folks are handled with kid gloves compared to rank and file personnel,” Bracknell added.
