"'In war' answered the weaver,' the strong make slaves of the weak, and in peace the rich make slaves of the poor. We must work to live, and they give us such mean wages that we die. We toil for them all day long, and they heap up gold in their coffers, and our children fade away before their time, and the faces of those we love become hard and evil.
We tread out the grapes, and another drinks the wine. We sow the corn, and our own board is empty. We have chains, though no eye behold them; and we are slaves, though men call us FREE.'" -- Oscar F W Wilde 1854 born in Dublin

What Will the Chinese Make of Trump Bombing Syria Over Dinner With Xi?

What will the Chinese take home from this? Let's consider a few factors. China has supported the Syrian government throughout the conflict. They're not involved in the war itself but they've always made their position clear - Syria is a sovereign state that outside powers have no business undermining. Bejing has enormous distaste for the Syrian Islamist rising. Particularly since it involves thousands of Chinese citizens, ethnic Uyghurs who were brought to Syria by the Turkish military intelligence. Islamist Uyghur separatism is a threat that China is hyper-sensitve about. In a similar bombing campaign in 1999 against Yugoslavia the US ended up bombing China's embassy - supposedly a mistake caused by poor maps. Americans have long forgotten about this but the Chinese remember very well. So far commentators the MSM is talking to are saying the bombing will create anger and fear, but that the Chinese will also be "impressed" and view Trump with "respect". I am not so sure...

Trump Delivers After Israel Calls for 'Precision Strikes' Against Syria

Don't give Donald Trump too much credit for starting World War III in Syria. We all know Trump is well versed in the "art of the deal", but as for the art of war — well, let's just say some have more experience in this field. The reality is that Israel, more than any other nation, was screaming the loudest for military action following Tuesday's "gas attack" in Syria. Tel Aviv was quite open about what it expected. As the Jerusalem Post wrote on April 4, "Amid the voices in Israel’s political establishment on Tuesday roundly condemning the Syrian chemical attack and calling on the world to actively intervene, some called for Israel to rethink its own policy toward Syria and suggested taking limited military action." Former military intelligence chief Amos Yadlin said in an interview shortly after the "gas attack" on Tuesday that Israel should "destroy the planes that carried out the chemical attack." “We are not clean from the fact that 200-300 km.

Daily Mail deleted article about US plan to stage chemical attack in Syria

The British paper Daily Mail has removed an article titled "The United States supported the plan to carry out a chemical attack in Syria and blame Assad regime" dated January 29 2013. Author of the article Louise Boyle reported that the US planned chemical attack to serve as a pretext for strengthening the international coalition military action in Syria. "Emails, supposedly proving that the White House gave approval for carrying out chemical attack in Syria, which would be blamed on Assad regime and in turn would strengthen international military operations in the country. The published report contains correspondence between the two senior officials of the British-based company Britam Defence, which states that plan "approved by Washington" suggests that Qatar will finance the use of chemical weapons by rebel forces in Syria," - the article says.

Trump aids Jihadists in killing Christians in Syria

James Jatras, former US diplomat and GOP Senate foreign policy adviser, has told Pravda.Ru why Trump has gone the length of it. There are a couple of different explanations. Let me give you the best possible one. He has done this because he is in a very weak position domestically, he is under siege, by the Department State and by the media, and he felt he could not deal with Russians and the Syrians and the Iranians toward a solution in Syria without laying down a marker, without showing that he is a big gun and he is in charge. And it could possibly be the solution because of how limited the strike was, and that he did not get crosswise with the Russians. Having said that I do not really believe that is what is happening. I think unfortunately he has been boxed in by people in his Administration who do not agree with anything he said during the campaign.

Serbian politician equates US attack on Syria with Washington’s actions in Yugoslavia

The US strike against Syria is reminiscent of the Americans’ actions in Yugoslavia in the late 1990s, leader of the Serbian Radical Party, Vojislav Seselj, told TASS on Friday. "The Americans’ behavior deserves condemnation. It is illegal and not based on the UN Security Council’s decision. It is very similar to the actions by the Clinton-era administration and its successors," the politician said when asked whether the current aggression is reminiscent of the situation in Yugoslavia in 1999. In his view, the United States it doing its utmost to deepen the global crisis. "All the Americans seek to do is to complicate relations in the modern world and deepen the crisis. As far as Syria goes, they have no intention of destroying the Islamic State (IS, terror group, outlawed in Russia - TASS). They would be happy, if IS controlled Syria rather than Assad’s government," Seselj explained. Eradicating the Islamic State is not a priority for the US at all.

Peter Thiel Is Now the Bilderberg Group's Most Prominent Member

The long-standing relationship between President-elect Donald Trump and Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel was solidified during a meeting of Silicon Valley brass and right-wing political insurgents with an awkward, finger-clutching handshake. Thiel, who had stumped for and donated to Trump’s campaign, was seated at Trump’s left hand during a summit designed to cut through some of the tensions between the leaders of America’s most powerful technology businesses and the future head of the federal government. Thiel, who’s public support of Trump got him namechecked in a number of Palo Alto shoegaze thinkpieces during the campaign, is considered by his political opponents to be the very model of a modern techno-fascist. The fact that he is openly a member of the Bilderberg Group, which is commonly conflated with the supposed “New World Order,” may amplify concerns as he become a critical part of President Trump’s inner circle.

Who Towers Behind Trump?

An inquiry into the background of flamboyant American entrepreneur Donald J. Trump provides some surprising insights into Trump’s path to power and influence, for the fact is that Trump’s rise to stardom came as a direct consequence of his having functioned as hardly more than a colorful front man for some very wealthy behind-the-scenes sponsors.

Everyone knows, of course, about Trump’s gambling operations and of the wide-ranging links of the gambling industry to organized crime. But the story is much bigger than that. In his own memoir, The Art of the Deal, Trump proudly described how in 1987 he bought his first casino interests when he purchased 93% of the voting stock in the Resorts International gambling concern.

Social Media Companies Must Be Made Public Utilities to Stop Further Abuse (Video)

Political correctness has become a cancer in Western society. It inhibits the free and open discussion of ideas, making all of us the worse off for it as it slowly erodes our proud culture of free and open speech. And we’re not talking about repressing anything even close to hate speech, unless you think that dressing up in the colors of the American flag is somehow hate speech. And no, that’s not a joke.

In today’s information age, free speech has never been more powerful, or threatening to established powers. And because freedom of speech is generally enshrined in Western culture while censorship is frowned upon, they have had to go with other routes to censor information. Their latest ‘non-censorship censorship’ tactic is to simply label it as ‘fake news’. And while that’s been going on for a while, Germany has stepped it up by putting it into law.

Reports of Chemical Attack Appeared Before Syrian Airstrike in Idlib - Syrian FM

The accusations against the Syrian government army allegedly using chemical weapons in the incident in the Syrian province of Idlib make no sense since Damascus has been succeeding in fighting terrorism on all fronts, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said Thursday.

“In such context [of government’s army success] would it be logical for us to use chemical weapons,” Muallem said.

Moreover, the first reports of the chemical attack in the province of Idlib appeared a few hours before the Syrian Air Forces conducted an airstrike on an al-Nusra Front ammunition depot on April 4, Walid Muallem noted.

"The chemical attack in Khan Shaykhun was reported at 06:00 am, while the first airstrike by the Syrian army on an ammunition depot of al-Nusra terrorists with chemical weapons inside it was carried out at 11:00 am," Muallem said.

Evidence Calls Western Narrative About Syrian Chemical Attack Into Question

Although Western media immediately accused Bashar al-Assad of participating in a gas attack against his own people, the evidence indicates that the intended target was not immediately in a civilian area and was in fact a location where Syrian White Helmets were on the scene with rebel groups at what observers have claimed was a storage facility for conventional and chemical munitions. Additionally, evidence indicates that rebel groups may have had prior knowledge of the attack and knew that there was a risk of chemical weapons being unleashed. The attack also came in the aftermath of a trip by Senator John McCain to meet with groups known to associate with radical jihadist factions in Syria, at a time when the United States government has been engulfed in a power struggle between different political factions who disagree strongly over what should be appropriate policy in regards to the Syrian civil war.

Scott Adams: The Syrian Air Base Attack

As I blogged yesterday, the claim that Assad ordered a chemical attack on his own people in the past week doesn’t pass my sniff test. For Assad to order a gas attack now – while his side is finally winning – he would have to be willing to risk his life and his regime for no real military advantage. I’m not buying that.

But let’s say the world believes Assad or a rogue general under his command gassed his own people. What’s an American President to do? If Trump does nothing, he appears weak, and it invites mischief from other countries. But if he launches 59 Tomahawk missiles at a Syrian military air base base within a few days, which he did, the U.S. gets several benefits at low cost:

Divided Senate confirms Neil Gorsuch to Supreme Court

The Senate confirmed Neil Gorsuch to become the newest associate justice on the Supreme Court Friday, elevating Donald Trump's nominee following a corrosive partisan confrontation that could have lasting impacts for the Senate and the court.

Vice President Mike Pence was presiding as the Senate voted 54-45 in favor of Gorsuch, a 49-year-old veteran of the 10th U.S. Circuit of Appeals in Denver whose rulings make him an intellectual heir to the late Justice Antonin Scalia, whose seat he will fill.

It's WMD All Over Again. Why Don't You See It?

Actually knowing something, remembering history or having experience of the world is becoming a disadvantage. How much easier it would be to join in with the flow of opinion about Syria, to listen happily to, and read contentedly, media reports on the subject.

BEXALERT!: Initial reports indicate Syrian airbase 'almost completely destroyed' after US strike

37 Missiles missed entirely. The 23 that did hit took out 6 old Mig-23's.From the drone footage it looks like at leats half of those landed in the grass at the edge of the runway. The US military as usual lies.

The Syrian airfield targeted by United States airstrikes early Friday was “almost completely destroyed,” a human rights group in the country said.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the missile attack damaged over a dozen hangars, a fuel depot and an air defense base. About 60 U.S. Tomahawk missiles hit the Shayrat air base, southeast of Homs, a small installation with two runways.

Just Say No; Trump Being Pressured By Neo-Cons to Attack Syria

“President Trump has told some members of Congress that he is considering military action in Syria in retaliation for this week’s chemical attack and recognizes the seriousness of the situation, a source familiar with the calls tells CNN.”

This completely contradicts Trump’s attitude towards Syria just four years ago when, faced with the exact same situation, Barack Obama seemed to be on the verge of attempting regime change.

“Don’t attack Syria – an attack that will bring nothing but trouble for the U.S. Focus on making our country strong and great again!” Trump tweeted four days later.

Is Trump Going to Commit the Next Great American Catastrophe in Syria?

Over half a million Syrians are dead. Half the population is displaced. Aerial bombardment by the Americans, the Russians, the Syrians and others continues to devastate Syria and Iraq. The Americans recently admitted to a major atrocity in Mosul, where 200 civilians have been killed. That attack did not seize the Security Council or bring forth fulminations from the Western press. Hypocrisy is central to the morals at the Security Council. This does not mean one should not be horrified by what has happened at Khan Shaykhun. But more than anything, the international community must urge a thorough investigation of these events before rushing either to a forensic judgment about what happened and to a response-particularly a military response?in retaliation. Sober heads need to prevail. War is rarely the answer. Particularly when we don?t as yet know the question.

Russia says US air strikes in Syria came 'within an inch' of military clash with their forces

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has said the US air strike on a Syrian air base came “within an inch” of militarily clashing with their forces.

He said the action taken by the Americans was in breach of international law and their own internal procedures, and accused Washington of “barely avoiding combat clashes with Russia”.

However, the US says it warned Russia one hour before it fired 59 tomahawk cruise missiles at the Shayrat air base.
