Narendra Modi-Donald Trump meet: Camaraderie between India, US rattles China, Pakistan

China and Pakistan seem to be rattled by the bonhomie between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump.
While a a state-run Chinese Daily said on Tuesday that any attempt by India to become US ally to counter China will not be in its interests and could even lead to 'catastrophic results', Pakistan today slammed as 'completely unjustified' the decision by United States to declare Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin as a 'global terrorist'.

This Ukrainian Company Is Likely Behind the Ransomware Wave

After landing on victims' machines, the malicious software then spread stealthily across networks through a vulnerability in Microsoft Windows, which Microsoft (MSFT) released patches for in March. Companies that did not apply the patch—sealing a hole exploited by a leaked hacking tool associated with the U.S. National Security Agency—were vulnerable.

Additionally, the malware spread by harvesting usernames and passwords from infected computers. Should one of these computers happen to have had administrative privileges, that login information could be used that to take over other machines on the network managed under the same credentials.

The timing and initial target of the attack, MeDoc, is sure to provoke speculation that an adversary of Ukraine might be to blame. The ransomware hid undetected for five days before being triggered a day before a public Ukrainian holiday that celebrates the nation's ratification of a new constitution in 1996.

‘Petya’ ransomware attack stems from NSA exploit - Snowden, security experts

According to cybersecurity company Kaspersky Lab, the latest ransomware attacks are a variation on the original Petya, which has been around since last year. “This appears to be a complex attack which involves several attack vectors,” Kaspersky Lab said Tuesday. “We can confirm that a modified EternalBlue exploit is used for propagation at least within the corporate network.”

...

“How many times does @NSAGov's development of digital weapons have to result in harm to civil infrastructure before there is accountability?” Snowden tweeted. “Listen, people can disagree on surveillance. But when NSAGov’s focus on offense over defense shuts down US hospitals, it’s time to act.”

But cyber security experts have warned that this time the virus is much more dangerous because it has no 'kill switch' and is designed to spread rapidly though networks.

Marcus Hutchins, who foiled the previous WannaCry attack by discovering a way to stop it from infecting new computers, told MailOnline that even if users pay the fee their files could now be lost forever.

He said: ' The company that hosts the email account which the ransomware asks you to contact has closed the account. There's no way to get files back.

'It's early days - we don't know if we can find a fix yet. But if it's decryptable we will find a way.'

Massive Ransomware Attack Hits Ukraine; Experts Say It's Spreading Globally

Signs that this is a new strain led Kaspersky Lab malware analyst Vyacheslav Zakorzhevsky to say the outbreak comes from a "new ransomware we haven't seen before." For this reason, Kaspersky announced in a statement it would be coining a new name for the ransomware: "ExPetr."

"The company's telemetry data indicates around 2,000 attacked users so far," its statement continued, noting Ukraine and Russia appear to be the most affected. But "we have also registered hits in Poland, Italy, the UK, Germany, France, the US and several other countries."

Cyber attack could lead to military retaliation, says Fallon

Gen Milley, whose own army has been cut by around 100,000 since the height of the Iraq and Afghan wars, said it was a myth that armies were quick to generate.

He said: “There was a time when armies were easy to generate. That time has long gone. Land forces, land power is a very complex exercise in human interaction with the use of tanks.

It takes a long time to build those forces. It takes 15-16 years to build an F-16 pilot. It takes 15-16 years to build a platoon sergeant

“Armies are not quickly generated. Significant sized land forces are required if you want to achieve your political objectives in today’s world.”

US May Be Preparing for 'Preemptive Strike' on Syria Amid Chemical Weapons Claim

The United States might be preparing for a "preemptive" attack on Syrian government troops as the White House warned of a possible chemical attack allegedly planned by Damascus, senior Russian lawmaker Konstantin Kosachev said Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, the White House claimed that Washington had identified "potential preparations" for a chemical attack by Syrian President Bashar Assad’s forces.

The Kremlin commented on the claims and said that it considers US' threats against Syrian legitimate leadership to be "unacceptable." Damascus also denied the information.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think the Russian analysis, presented here at sputniknews.com, is completely reasonable.

We are most likely looking at an horrific false flag operation, courtesy of the US military and various Us alphabet soup agencies in Syria, to be blamed on the Syrian government, as the justification for a full-scale invasion of Syria, in order to attempt regime change in Damascus.

But the questions I would have to ask about such a scenario are:

1. Why would al-Assad do this when his troops are winning against ISIS on the Ground?!?

2. Weren't Syria's chemical weapons completely destroyed under a Russian brokered, and UN-supervised program several years ago?!?

Of course, such an invasion most probably means war with Russia, but what does the American Deep State care about the good of We the People?!? The short answer is, absolutely nothing.

They have their elaborate bunkers, and top of the line survival gear in hand; the rest of us can just die of radiation sickness, and they won't give a damn.

This... is officially insane, and the fact that the US government collectively thinks, for one millisecond, that the American people would believe this codswallop, demonstrates that they have learned utterly nothing from having lied this country into the the military misadventures which are still with us, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Another Massive Ransomware Outbreak Is Going Global Fast

Ukraine's government, National Bank and biggest power companies all warned of cyberattacks Tuesday. Airports and metro services in the country were also reportedly affected, though it appears they're victims of another massive ransomware outbreak that's spreading across the world fast and hitting a significant number of critical infrastructure providers.

Whispers of WannaCry abound, though security experts said a different breed, named Petya, was to blame. "[We're seeing] several thousands of infection attempts at the moment, comparable in size to WannaCry's first hours," said Kaspersky Lab's Costin Raiu. "We are seeing infections from many different countries." One firm, BitDefender, said it believed a similar strain called GoldenEye was actually responsible. Later, security firms, including Kaspersky and Avast, said the malware responsible was actually an entirely new ransomware that had borrowed Petya code.

Treating homes like ATMs is back in fashion: Home Equity Withdrawals rising at fastest pace since Great Recession.

I love getting tips from Uber drivers especially when it comes to buying real estate. We are now back at that level where real estate can do no wrong, the house humpers are confusing luck with investment acumen, and of course the sheep dive in head first at the most frothy time. It is clear that we are in a mania and hot money is flowing everywhere. Credit card offers are soaring and lending is booming across all areas: credit cards, auto loans, student debt, and housing. With housing, we are now seeing one of our favorite past-time events in treating a home like an ATM. Home equity withdrawals are now moving up in a direction that is not exactly positive if you believe in actually keeping your equity locked in instead of cementing your belief in the bubble and adding more debt. You do need to pay those loans back by the way which many tend to forget. Home equity withdrawals are simply one of the final steps in the delusional mania.

Hersh’s new Syria revelations buried from view

Paradoxically, over the past decade, as social media has created a more democratic platform for information dissemination, the corporate media has grown ever more fearful of a truly independent figure like Hersh. The potential reach of his stories could now be enormously magnified by social media. As a result, he has been increasingly marginalised and his work denigrated. By denying him the credibility of a “respectable” mainstream platform, he can be dismissed for the first time in his career as a crank and charlatan. A purveyor of fake news.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. Hersh, should you want to take us up on it, you would always be welcome to post your articles here at WRH.

Mike and I have a great deal of respect for your work, over the years, and understand, full well, the courage it takes not to ape the government's "party line" when there is a specific agenda they wish to accomplish, and the consequences of "not playing along", even when such an agenda is 100% fact free.

The Age of No Privacy: The Surveillance State Shifts Into High Gear

The government has become an expert in finding ways to sidestep what it considers “inconvenient laws” aimed at ensuring accountability and thereby bringing about government transparency and protecting citizen privacy.

Indeed, it has mastered the art of stealth maneuvers and end-runs around the Constitution.

It knows all too well how to hide its nefarious, covert, clandestine activities behind the classified language of national security and terrorism. And when that doesn’t suffice, it obfuscates, complicates, stymies or just plain bamboozles the public into remaining in the dark.

Case in point: the National Security Agency (NSA) has been diverting “Internet traffic, normally safeguarded by constitutional protections, overseas in order to conduct unrestrained data collection on Americans.”

It’s extraordinary rendition all over again, only this time it’s surveillance instead of torture being outsourced.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The dictatorial powers of the Unhinged, Surveilled State of America, now knows no bounds, in terms of electronic communications, and has, for all intents and purposes, thoroughly nullified the 4th Amendment to the Constitution, preventing Americans from having to deal with unreasonable search and seizure.

House Spending Bill Threatens to Suspend Nuclear Treaty With Russia: Bill Also Funds Missiles Banned by the Treaty

Tensions between the US and Russia touch a lot of fronts, including the 1987 Intermediate Nuclear Forces Treaty. The treaty forbids the development of intermediate range conventional and nuclear missiles, and there have been allegations one of the missiles tested by Russia is in violation of this treaty.

Intermediate Nuclear Forces Treaty signed in 1987
Russia has denied this is the case, but the House of Representatives appears uninterested in arguing the point, instead adding multiple lines to the nearly $700 billion military spending bill that was advanced in committee today, threatening to withdraw the US from the treaty, and funding US development of missiles that would deliberately violate it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This ... is an officially insane idea, and more US governmental demonisation of Russia, as a prelude to some kind of an attack against it, either in Syria; Iran; or perhaps (God forbid) a direct attack against it by the NATO military which has been encircling it, geographically, for more than the last year or so.

House Armed Services Committee Unveils $696.5 Billion Military Spending Bill

Just days after committee chair Mac Thornberry (R – TX) announced his intention to unveil a $640 billion military spending bill, the House Armed Services Committee actually unveiled a $696.5 billion bill, which you’ll notice is quite a bit more, but which is also being presented as a “cut” from the previous announcement.

The imagined cut is based on the idea that the $640 billion would’ve added quite a bit of funding for Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO), and the new bill already includes $75 billion in OCO, which they’re presenting as meaning the bill is only $621.5 billion, despite the OCO money being very real, and also including substantial amounts that’ll be spent on things not related to overseas operations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This government does not necessarily need to spend more money; they need to spend money for our military more intelligently.

This should translate into the death of cost over-runs which are absorbed by taxpayers; the ending of problem-plagued programs like the F-35, with the companies like Lockheed Martin absorbing the costs of their failures, after a certain point, from corporate funding, and not taxpayers' funding.

The failure of weapons to perform as advertised should be treated as a form of corporate treason against this country.

Please don't get me wrong; as a Christian pacifist activist, who is constantly exhorting her government to use hard-won, moral negotiations as the way to resolve geopolitical disputes, I abhor war as a methodology for resolving disputes.

That being said, if the civilian leadership is going to use war to pursue its aims, our military deserve weapons that work. China and Russia are spending far less on their military outlays, but are winding up with weapons which do, and will work, very efficiently.

Top Senator Blocks Gulf Arms Sales Over Qatar Crisis

While previous Senate efforts to limit US arms sales to Saudi Arabia over human rights concerns narrowly failed, Senate Foreign Affairs Committee chair Bob Corker (R – TN) has now withheld all consent for US arms sales to not just Saudi Arabia, but to the other Gulf Arab states, citing the ongoing Qatar crisis.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Egypt have all imposed a blockade on Qatar over the past several weeks, and have issued a long list of demands for Qatar to comply with as a condition for lifting it. Sen. Corker warned that this is undermining the ISIS war.

That’s been a concern from the beginning of the crisis, since the largest US military base in the Middle East is in Qatar, and much of the air war in Syria is based out of Qatar. So far,the Pentagon has insisted that hasn’t been impacted, but the longer the situation goes unresolved, the more likely it’s going to be a problem.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I sense that this is just a small hiccup in President Trump's plans to sell billions in weapons to Saudi Arabia, as well as to other Middle Eastern "bastions of democracy" and will be overcome quickly.

White House Appears to Be Planning Attack on Assad

Raising speculation that the US is about to attack Syria again, the White House has issued a statement late this evening accusing the Assad government in Syria of conducting “potential preparations for another chemical weapons attack,” claiming that such an attack would involve the “mass murder of civilians, including innocent children.”

The late night report was extremely light on details, but threatened to make Syria’s government and military “pay a heavy price,” suggesting that the statement was only issued to lay the groundwork for a new round of US attacks on Syrian government targets.

The US last attacked Syria in earnest in early April, firing 49 cruise missiles at a Syrian air base. The attack was carried out despite reports ultimately showing that the US intelligence community found no evidence a chemical weapon attack took place.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump, a word please: that you could possibly believe, for one second, that Americans would swallow this codswallop whole, is a singularly nasty insult to the intelligence of your American brothers and sisters.

We were lied into wars against Afghanistan and Iraq; we will NOT, thank you very much, be lied into a war against Syria, over any kind of horrific false flag this government, and most probably Israel, may be conjuring against it right now.

I would very much like to politely remind you, and the American people, that just because an action would be the most pig-headedly, ham-fistedly stupid thing the American government could do, is utterly no guarantee that it won't do it.

War against Syria most probably means a war against Russia; and right now, Mr. President, the American military doesn't have the money; the weaponry; the troop strength; or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia.

Right now, you really need to be listening to those voices in your inner circle advocating against such a rash action; they are the voices of reason, and the voices for the good of We the People.

The Unsubstantiated Medical-Science Proofs About Vaccines

By Catherine J. Frompovich

Allopathic medicine likes to crow about its scientific prowess; they call it “science-based medicine.” Well, that self-proclaimed, and rather dubious accolade, falls flat on its face, and even comes up with either egg or slimy pond scum mud on the faces of all those who salute, promote and mandate neurotoxic vaccines and their malevolent pseudoscience.

The most accurate case in point—actually there are two I will talk about—is the implicit fact that the practice of multi-valent vaccines given to infants as young as 2 months of age (and also at 4 and 6 months) are not, have not, and probably never will be tested for what’s commonly understood and known as “cumulative effects.” Is there some sort of scientific disconnect when it comes to testing vaccines for cumulative effects?...
