"'In war' answered the weaver,' the strong make slaves of the weak, and in peace the rich make slaves of the poor. We must work to live, and they give us such mean wages that we die. We toil for them all day long, and they heap up gold in their coffers, and our children fade away before their time, and the faces of those we love become hard and evil.
We tread out the grapes, and another drinks the wine. We sow the corn, and our own board is empty. We have chains, though no eye behold them; and we are slaves, though men call us FREE.'" -- Oscar F W Wilde 1854 born in Dublin

Mastercard rolls out pay-by-selfie across Europe

MaterCard’s "selfie pay" will be coming to Europe next year after trials in the US, Canada and the Netherlands. The financial services firm is rolling out biometric technologies that will allow European consumers to authenticate their identity without a password, but with a selfie, in order to provide customers with a more convenient method to sign in and a faster checkout process. Security firms view the development as another sign of the mainstream availability of biometric authentication, comparing it to the introduction of TouchID fingerprint authentication technology in the iPhone.

NATO Secretary General Admits to Having KGB Liaisons in Autobiography

NATO Secretary General and former Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, who is known for his anti-Russian stance, has in his newly published autobiography openly confessed ties with the Soviet Security Agency KGB, being given the code name 'Steklov.' In his newly released book "My Story," former Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg dwelled, among other things, on how he maintained close contacts with the Soviet embassy personnel in Norway since the late 1970s. By Stoltenberg's own admission, he regularly ate shrimp sandwiches and discussed politics with Soviet intelligence personnel.

US prepared ‘to fight’ in Russia, China missile defense zones – Naval ops chief

The US Navy is seemingly ready to conduct operations in areas regarded as no-go missile areas, said the US Chief of Naval Operations. Such defense missile zones can be found at Russia’s and China’s coastlines.

This was announced by Admiral John Richardson during remarks made at the US Naval Institute – CSIS Maritime Security Dialogue.

He said that from now on the US Navy is “scaling down” the term ‘A2/AD’ (anti-access/area denial) from its communications.

Earlier, these areas were viewed as “an impenetrable keep out zone that forces can only enter at extreme peril to their existence, let alone their mission,” Richardson wrote in an article for the National Interest outlet.

“It’s a term bandied about pretty freely and lacks the precise definition it probably would benefit from, and that ambiguity sends a variety of signals,” he said on Tuesday.

Can You Establish Your Own Sovereign Nation?

Geneticists tell us the entire human race originated from a single tribal group of around 200 people who migrated from Africa into Arabia about 80,000 years ago. About 10,000 years ago, their descendants, by then numbering around 5 million, began to form agricultural settlements, leading to the first kingdoms. In more recent centuries, the earliest nation-state emerged. By 1920, around 1.7 billion of their descendants lived in fewer than 80 countries.

Hillary Caught Using Child Actor At Pennsylvania Town Hall

At a Hillary Clinton town hall yesterday in Haverford, Pennsylvania, a 15 year old girl was supposedly "chosen at random" to ask a question of the former Secretary of State. But, the well-scripted performance raised some suspicion with a YouTuber named Spanglevision who decided to dig a little deeper. UN makes power play against Trump

International governments have made a power play against Donald Trump by ratifying an international climate deal earlier than expected, effectively preventing him from “canceling” the deal as he has promised to do.

The European Union’s Tuesday decision to join the Paris climate deal will push the deal over the threshold for ratification; it will formally take effect in 30 days.

That means Trump, should he be elected president in November, could not “cancel” or renegotiate the terms of the agreement.

Amid US-South Korean Drills, Pyongyang Vows to Defend Itself With Nukes

North Korea has warned of dire repercussions for any preemptive attack.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This war fever, on the part of the US government, is most likely going to spark a nasty military conflict somewhere, or perhaps, several places, on this planet.

It feels as though more shooting wars, generated by American foreign policy, are on the brink-edge of inevitability.

What the US SHOULD be doing is engaging China to get North Korea back to the negotiating table to negotiate a full peace treaty between North and South Korea, to replace the armistice (a cessation of fighting) which has kept these countries from attacking each other by the slenderest of shreds.

But what did President Obama do as his parting shot at China at the WTO meeting in September, where China was the host member?!?

At G20, Crisis-Ridden Obama Warns Host China of 'Consequences'

As reported at telesur:

"Obama lectured China, saying "the United States arrives at its power, in part, by restraining itself."

As a guest of the Chinese government during the G20 Summit, U.S. President Barack Obama issued a threat, saying there would be “consequences” if China did not back down from what he called increasingly aggressive behavior in the South China Sea in an interview with CNN aired Monday."

Smoooooth move there, Mr. President!

This was the diplomatic equivalent of relieving oneself on another person's face, and telling them it's raining.

I am very concerned that the US and South Korea will continue "playing picador" against North Korea, to the point that Kim Jung-Un feels he has no choice but to respond militarily, in order to "save face", which is very, critically important to Asian leaders.

Things Are Happening At An Alarming Pace in Syria: “Putin Gears Up For War” - Mac Slavo

As SHTF reported yesterday, Russia is officially on war footing, with more than 40 MILLION of its population participating in the largest ever nuclear warfare drill.

The powers that be are now flirting with the option of all out war, and potentially unprecedented levels of destruction. The American public has never been presented with any cohesive rational or good reason at all for why we are still embroiled in the Middle East, and one can only assume that there are other hidden agendas at work.

The rivalry to supply Europe with energy, and a proposed pipeline from the Arabian peninsula through Syria and Turkey into Europe may be a much better explanation for why we are being dragged so perilously close to war than anything else we’ve been told. It certainly appears that the West intends to allow radical Islam to take hold of the region amid a vacuum of power, and that the U.S. would prefer to partner with terrorism rather than lose its grip on the existing world order.

5 Stories The Mainstream Media Ignored While Reporting On Kim Kardashian's Robbery

One of the saving graces of the ailing corporate media - for the folks setting the agenda, anyhow - is its relentless ability to hyper-focus the public’s attention on altogether meaningless events.

Take, for instance, an armed robbery that sees property stolen but no one harmed. Such an event is unfortunate, yes, but such is life. People get robbed. It certainly isn’t something that should consume the news cycle — particularly when developments of actual importance are unfolding around the world.

Yet that’s exactly what happened this week after reality TV star Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris on Monday morning. Kardashian, who was in town for Fashion Week, was forced into the bathroom of her hotel room, tied up, and robbed at gunpoint. The perpetrators, men dressed as police officers, stole about $10 million.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Celebrity worship in this country has exploded, and corporate presstitutes love stories like this one, because it distracts viewers and listeners from the real issues facing both this country, and the world.

Please: what is going on in this country, and this world, needs attention payed to it NOW, by every American, before we are looking at events blowing up into a major world war; and unfortunately, such an event looks as though it might well be very close to actually happening.

MOSCOW ON THE OFFENSIVE Russian state newspapers predict ‘direct military conflict’ with US as it compares Syria stalemate to Cuban missile crisis

Veteran broadcaster Vladimir Pozner told the BBC: "There's a real feeling now that America is out to prove it is the only superpower.
"The continued expansion of Nato is seen by the Russian leadership, perhaps incorrectly, is seen as being a real threat.

"There is a danger of real confrontation, perhaps leading to some kind of military engagement and war."

It has previously been reported that Putin is preparing for war with the West.

Russia is already staging a massive evacuation drill to prepare for nuclear war.

More than 200,000 emergency services personnel and soldiers will use 50,000 pieces of equipment during the civil defence exercise.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am hoping that cooler heads prevail here, but I think the Russian press is calling it as it sees it.

And I have something I would like to say to Russia's President Putin and their Foreign Minister Lavrov: thinking American people do not want a war with Russia, or anyone else right now, thank you very much.

Our economy is barely holding together by a thread; the infrastructure at home is completely broken; and the expansion of homeless camps in this country (the "Obamavilles", if you will) continues to grow apace, courtesy of
offshoring/outsourcing of American jobs.

And right now, the US military doesn't have the weaponry, the troop strength, the money, or the manufacturing to enable it to ensure a positive outcome to a military conflict against Russia.

There is an absolutely incestuous relationship between the corporations making our weapons system, and the Congressional representatives who green light these contracts.

These are the same Congressional representatives who very gleefully take campaign contributions from these same contractors.

The results, when weapons get field deployed are: late deliveries, to the point where those weapons are obsolete upon their deliveries; weapons not at all working as advertised; and development programs creating huge cost over-runs.

Thinking Americans want to engage with Russia for trade; your wonderful non-GMO food; research; and working in a cooperative way to resolve the world's problems peacefully.

We do not want this war; we want peace, prosperity, and economic stability for all countries, including our own.

We understand that this Administration may try to jam this war down our throats, but there will be peaceful protests, hopefully seen by the world, indicating our severe displeasure and opposition to such actions by our government.

In fact, in the United States of America, the government is no longer of the people'; by the people; and for the people; it is of the corporations; by the corporations, and for those corporations, and banks, which enrich their own coffers from the deaths of others.

In Major Victory For Gold And Silver Traders, Manipulation Lawsuit Against Gold-Fixing Banks Ordered To Proceed

Back in April, precious metal traders felt vindicated when Deutsche Bank agreed to settle a July 2014 lawsuit alleging precious metal manipulation by a consortium of banks. As a reminder, In July 2014 we reported that a group of silver bullion banks including Deutsche Bank, Bank of Nova Scotia and HSBC (later UBS was also added to the defendants) were accused of manipulating prices in the multi-billion dollar market. The lawsuit, which was originally filed in a New York district court by veteran litigator J. Scott Nicholson, a resident of Washington DC, alleged that the banks, which oversee the century-old silver fix manipulated the physical and COMEX futures market since January 2007. The lawsuit subsequently received class-action status. It was the first case to target the silver fix.

Obama: Thank God I'm a country boy

President Obama invoked his Kansas roots Tuesday in a statement praising America's rural areas and suggesting that coal and farm towns are fast shifting to the digital economy under his leadership.

"I've spent most of my life living in big cities. But the truth is, a lot of what's shaped me came from my grandparents who grew up on the prairie in Kansas," he said in a statement issued by the Agriculture Department.

"They taught me the kind of values that don't always make headlines, let alone the daily back-and-forth in Washington. Honesty and responsibility. Hard work and toughness against adversity. Keeping your word, and giving back to your community. And treating folks with respect, even if you disagree with them," he added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These statements prove, incontrovertibly, that President Obama lives in a parallel universe!

Looking at the whoppers he's told, the crucifixion of whistle blowers; the international and national messes he's made; the thorough corruption of his administration; the suppression of information requested in FOIA requests, apparently, whatever his grandparents taught him, did not stick.

Immunity deals stopped FBI from investigating BleachBit use in Clinton email case

Immunity agreements offered to two of Hillary Clinton's top aides prevented the FBI from looking into the circumstances surrounding the use of BleachBit, a digital deletion tool, to destroy the former secretary of state's emails.

In a letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch Wednesday, four Republican committee chairmen demanded to know why Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson, two witnesses who also served as Clinton's personal attorneys, were granted such expansive protections despite the FBI's awareness that they had participated in potentially illegal activities.

For example, the FBI agreed to limit its search to emails written after June 1, 2014, but before Feb. 1, 2015. By doing so, investigators were barred from looking at emails authored around the time Mills and David Kendall, Clinton's lead attorney, held a pair of conference calls with technology contractor Paul Combetta that immediately preceded his use of BleachBit to erase thousands of Clinton's emails.

Directed against China: New Site for U.S. THAAD Missile Deployment in South Korea

The public’s security worries and doubts over the guarantee provided by the US are out of historic backgrounds and reality considerations. Trapping in the whirlpool of the peninsula tension, ROK would be the direct victim with a total turn in its destiny once the situation lost control.

What’s worse, the remote US is by no means reliable helper. In recent years, in order to expand its hegemony, the superpower has fallen into a breaker of international law. Employing a “puppet” strategy, it repeatedly threw other countries or regions into disarray and then escaped unscathed.

China will never change its stance of opposing the deployment of the THAAD system since the missile shield, instead of easing regional tension, will pose serious threat to the strategic security balance of regional nations including China.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The implementation of the THAAD system cannot possibly ratchet down tensions here; in fact, the impending implementation of the system seems to have been engineered to do just the opposite.

“Airborne Radar Warning and Control”: NATO Deploys AWACS to Syria In Violation of International Law

Responding to a question from Reuters, Mr. Stoltenberg indicated that NATO would deploy AWACS to improve the Coalition’s view of the sky.

However, Syrian air-space is legally used only by Syria and Russia, and illegally by the Coalition and Israël. The rebel or terrorist armies have no air force. Continued fighting over the central Yemeni city of Yemen continues to take a toll on the civilian population, with medical officials reporting rocket strikes against the Beir al-Basha District hitting a group of civilians, killing 10 of them, including children.

Details are still scant, though pro-Saudi officials were quick to blame the Shi’ite Houthis for the attack, noting that the district has been a target for them in the past. Pictures of slain civilians were widely circulated on social media.

The city of Taiz has been the site of major fighting on both sides, with the pro-Saudi forces trying to gain control of the main highway between their de facto capital of Aden and the capital city of Sanaa. The city is divided, however, and the Houthis have made recent gains.

State Dept: US Considering ‘Military, Other Options’ Against Russia in Syria

Once again focusing on escalations of tensions with Russia, State Department spokesman Mark Toner today said that in addition to the “diplomatic” efforts the US is making in Syria, they are also considering conducting “military or other options.”

The US demonstrably is not conducting diplomatic efforts in Syria anymore, despite Toner’s claims to the contrary, as the US made a very public show of withdrawing from the diplomatic track yesterday, and condemning Russia on the way out.

Adding to the uncomfortable talk about military possibilities, Toner also declared the US to “always consider unilateral options when looking at a situation like Syria,” and while he insisted the US prefers to work with its coalition, it’s unlikely much of the coalition will eagerly follow them into a war with Russia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Just because a war against Russia over Syria is one of the must pig-headedly, ham-fistedly stupid thing this Administration could possibly do at this point, unfortunately, is utterly no guarantee that it won't do it.

And do it in so covert a way that neither US citizens nor people around the world won't understand that this is going on?!?

I am very sorry, but for the Administration to actually believe that such military actions could happen, privately, in an unknown way, and without repercussions, is a very big indication to me that they have collectively lost their reality license!!!

U.S. assistant secretary Nuland to arrive in Moscow late on Oct. 4 — source

U.S. Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland will arrive in Moscow on Oct. 4 evening, a diplomatic source has told TASS.

Late last week, we learned President Obama was sending additional “boots on ground” to Iraq in order to push ISIS out of Mosul.

Reuters reported:

The United States will send around 600 new troops to Iraq to assist local forces in the battle to retake Mosul from Islamic State that is expected later this year, U.S. and Iraqi officials said on Wednesday.

What Reuters didn’t report, is that various Iraqi state militias, known as Popular Mobilization Units (PMUs), are preparing for violent resistance against these U.S. troops, which they see as an occupying force.

Al Monitor reports:

BAGHDAD — Factions of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) are threatening to attack US troops that participate in the battle to liberate Mosul from the Islamic State (IS), but the Iraqi government hopes to smooth things over.

Former President Paytoplay starts a non-profit charitable foundation, which starts business right as Former President Paytoplay's wife is appointed Secretary of State for Lower Slobovia.

MR KIRBY: The consequences are that the civil war will continue in Syria, that extremists and extremists groups will continue to exploit the vacuums that are there in Syria to expand their operations, which will include, no question, attacks against Russian interests, perhaps even Russian cities, and Russia will continue to send troops home in body bags, and they will continue to lose resources – even, perhaps, more aircraft.
The Russian Federation interpreted that not as a prediction or warning, but as a direct threat.

Then this happened:

With much of the public's attention in recent weeks focused on the escalation between the US and Russia over the nearly 6-year-old proxy war in Syria, a reminder that middle-east tensions include virtually all other neighboring countries, came from Iraq's prime minister who on Wednesday warned Turkey that it risked triggering a regional war by keeping troops in his territory, as the neighboring states summoned each other's ambassadors in a mounting diplomatic stand-off.

Turkey announced late on Tuesday that it was summoning Iraq's ambassador to complain about the parliamentary vote. "We believe this decision does not reflect the views of the majority of Iraqi people, whom Turkey has stood by for years and attempted to support with all its resources," Turkey's Foreign Ministry said.

Astronomers: Crimea is Moving Towards Russia

Radiointerferometric complex "Quasar-KVO" has allowed scientists to capture the movement of Crimean Peninsula towards mainland Russia, reported TASS with reference to director of the Institute of Applied Astronomy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Ipatov. "We tried to make an observation at the time of reunification with Crimea - to see where Crimea is moving, and we found out - towards Russia, and we know the speed. This is real. We have the measurements, it is not a joke. Moving North-East". The equipment installed in the village of Simeiz, recorded the movement of the peninsula to the North-East with a speed of 2.9 millimeters per year. Data obtained by "Quasar-KVO" is reliable: its spatial-temporal resolution far exceeds the capacity of existing ground-based optical surveillance. This allows to define global tectonic crustal movements with millimeter precision.

Following the president of the Russian Federation’s decree on suspending Russia’s compliance with agreements with the US on the disposal of weapons-grade plutonium and the submission of the corresponding bill to the State Duma, disputes have begun in the media on whether this is connected to the rupture of the Syria deal... Russian Army General: Americans have good reasons to be afraid of S-300 in Syria

The United States believes that the deployment of the Russian S-300 system in Syria may pose a threat to aircraft of the US Air Force in certain cases. Baluyevsky, commenting on statements from American experts, who said that Russia's battery of S-300 was directed against NATO aircraft, said that such estimates were "not groundless." According to him, nothing prevents the Americans from supplying drones to terrorists in Syria, and the damage that UAVs may cause can be just as considerable as the damage caused by combat aircraft. According to the general, it was the Americans, who shipped TOW antitank systems to the so-called Syrian armed opposition, "and those systems were used against our helicopters," Baluyevsky said. He also added that Russia was not going to enhance its presence in Syria with the help of strategic aviation, but Russia could still provide military and technical assistance to the armed forces of the Syrian government.

The CO2 God Controls Environmental Disasters, Not

In my recent article “The Climate Religion”, I argued that “climate change”, the widespread belief that atmospheric CO2 controls climate and climate events, satisfies the defining criteria of a state religion. Professor Paul Brown responded to my article in his article entitled “The Religion of Climate Change Denial”. This is my reply to Professor Brown.

Professor Brown is silent on my argument that climate change science and policy serve global financiers and US-dominated geopolitics. He prefers a sanitized argument essentially limited to a pronouncement that “most scientists…”. Fine, let us examine the scientific question.

Situation around Russian diplomats in US gets increasingly worse — ministry

Russian diplomats and members of their families are subject to threats from American security services, the Russian Foreign Ministry quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov as saying in response to US Department of State’s allegations about harassment against US diplomats working in Russia. Against the background of "repeatedly replicated unsubstantiated complaints from the Department of State, the situation around Russian diplomats in the US is indeed getting more and more complicated. In the past two-and-a-half years, attempts to recruit our personnel have become visibly more frequent, and American security services descend to most unpleasant methods of pressure, up to threats to the heath of family members. The normal functioning of our diplomatic missions is prevented through artificial difficulties to official contacts, other far-fetched restrictions".
