UNRWA strongly condemns second attack on Summer Games locations

At 0230 on Monday 28 June 2010, a group of approximately 25 armed and masked men attacked and set fire to an UNRWA Summer Games recreation facility on the beach in Nuseirat, Gaza. The guards at the facility were physically assaulted and handcuffed but they were not injured. Fortunately no one else was hurt in the incident.

The attack is the second of its kind in a month, following on from an attack on Sunday 23 May 2010 when a group of approximately 30 armed and masked men attacked and set fire to an UNRWA Summer Games recreation facility then under construction on the beach in Gaza City.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Quagmire? Nine years on, Americans grow weary of war in Afghanistan

A recent Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters finds that just 41 percent “now believe it is possible for the United States to win the nearly nine-year-old war in Afghanistan.” More to the point, a plurality of 48 percent now say ending the war in Afghanistan is a more important goal than winning it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The war in Afghanistan has not been about any kind of "war on terror" because Afghanistan is not a threat to the US.

This has been a war on people, cursed with the really bad luck of living over a country whose resources - and access to resources - the US government has decided belongs to them.

This has always been about potential profit from oil, drugs, and mineral rights, and never about Afghanistan being a threat to the US.

The US government and NATO should declare victory, bring their troops home, and negotiate with whatever government is left standing in Kabul for the oil pipeline and mineral rights.

Of course, that would be logical.

1.2 million to lose benefits in days if stalemate continues

Millions of people will lose their health insurance and unemployment benefits because of the Senate stalemate over a tax package.

More than 1.2 million Americans will exhaust their unemployment benefits by the end of June if Congress fails to work out a deal on an extension of unemployment benefits, according to the National Employment Law Project, a group studying the issue.

In addition, neither the House nor the Senate bill have approved an extension of the COBRA subsidy that requires unemployed workers to pay only 35 percent of a premium to maintain health insurance. That subsidy was originally included in last year’s stimulus bill.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These people, and the jobs they have lost due to offshoring, don't matter to Congress.

And yet, they can approve billions for the immoral wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and billions annually for Israel.

What's wrong with this picture?!?

US Supreme Court deals pedophilia blow for Vatican

The US Supreme Court declined Monday to hear an appeal by the Vatican in a landmark case that opens the way for priests in the United States to stand trial for pedophilia.

Allowing a federal appeals court ruling to stand, the decision means Vatican officials including theoretically Pope Benedict XVI could face questioning under oath related to a litany of child sex abuse cases.

The Powers-That-Be Are Terrified of the Mass Awakening Taking Place Worldwide

Our situation is admittedly dire.

Oligarchs are seizing more overt control in most countries in the world, the worldwide economy is on course for another - even bigger - train wreck, countries are cracking down on freedom and becoming more tyrannical, we are in a permanent state of war (and see this), and companies like BP are destroying our natural resources without any checks and balances.

But as Andrew Gavin Marshall points out, the elites are actually terrified of the mass political awakening which is occurring worldwide.

Huge tent city takes root

The strip of land is bounded by Waipahu High School on one side and the calming waters of Pearl Harbor's Middle Loch on the other, where the Navy's mothball fleet sits idle. It's the most visible portion of an enormous homeless encampment that stretches five miles over approximately 50 acres of city, Navy and state land that serpentines around Waipio Point Access Road, the Ted Makalena Golf Course and the city's Waipio Soccer Complex and back down to Pearl City in the opposite direction, said Beth Chapman, who uncharacteristically lost a suspect in the swampy brush last year after five straight days of searching the area with her husband, Duane "Dog" Chapman, and their bounty hunting family.

How many Americans are targeted for assassination?

I've written at length about the reasons why targeting American citizens for assassination who are far away from a "battlefield" is so odious and tyrannical, and I won't repeat those arguments here. Suffice to say -- and I'm asking this literally -- if you're someone who believes, or are at least willing to acquiesce to the claim, that the U.S. President has the power to target your fellow citizens for assassination without a whiff of due process, what unchecked presidential powers wouldn't you support or acquiesce to? I'd really like to hear an answer to that.

The Toronto G20 Riot Fraud: Undercover Police engaged in Purposeful Provocation At Tax Payers' Expense

On the surface there seems to be some confusion about Israel’s relationship with the US. On the one hand we have Israel’s Ambassador to the US, Michael Oren, yesterday telling Israel’s diplomats in Jerusalem, “Relations are in the state of a tectonic rift in which continents are drifting apart." The remarks mainly refer to Obama’s stance on settlements in the West Bank and building in East Jerusalem.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Turkey just cut off diplomatic relations with Israel, canceled the water contract, and nor forbids Israeli aircraft to enter Turkish air space. Now THAT is a rift (and good on Turkey for having that kind of balls). In contrast, President Pussy turned tail and ran to the United Nations to defend that Israel's attack on American citizens in international waters! So the US is still firmly under the thumb of Israel with the willing and eager complicity of the President and almost the entire Congress.

IRS says it wants its share of BP payments received by oil spill victims

The Internal Revenue Service says oil spill victims who receive BP payments for lost wages will have to pay up come tax time.

Under current law, BP payments for lost wages are taxable -- just like the wages would have been, the IRS said in tax guidance issued Friday. Payments for physical injuries or property loss, however, are generally tax free. Payments for emotional distress? Taxable, though medical expenses related to the emotional distress are deductible.

* Children, and whenever possible teens, should not be involved in clean-up efforts but should only return after the area is cleaned up. Children should be the last group to return to areas impacted by oil or other toxic substances.

* Children should not be involved in swimming, boating, or clean-up activities in areas impacted by the oil spill.

Why We Dream: Real Reasons Revealed

Dreams are highly visual and often illogical in nature, which makes them ripe for the type of "out-of-the-box" thinking that some problem-solving requires, said Deirdre Barrett, a psychologist at Harvard University.

Gilad Atzmon discusses the wars for Israel with leftist dupe

It is Israel that ditches America. Israeli leadership realises that with America in the background the Jewish state won’t be able to pursue its next two lethal plans: Nakaba 2 and dismantling Iranian nuclear capacity. Israel realises that if it wants to maintain its Jews only state as a regional power, it must ethnically cleanse the rest of the Palestinians. Israel is also convinced that its only chance of surviving in the region is if it maintains a nuclear hegemony. The USA makes things difficult for the Jewish State at the moment; it tries to slow Israel down. I believe that it is Israel that is leading the conflict rather than being subject to it.

As a self-exiled, former Jewish Israeli and IDF soldier, Atzmon’s perspective within the raging public discourse on Palestine is relatively unique. His views are bitterly opposed by some among anti-Zionist Jewish groups, who accuse him of anti-Semitism and of being a ‘self-hater’.

Atzmon fiercely resists the charge of anti-Semitism and insists that he is concerned with a proper and thorough examination of the ideology of what it is to be Jewish – in particular about how the notion of the Jews as ‘a chosen people’ has led, as he sees it, inexorably to the rise of Zionism and its present disproportionate influence on world affairs.

Congressperson Rohrabacher: almost all House Republicans assess US war in Iraq as unlawful, immoral

*hyperlinks and video live at source*

In the interview below, Southern California Republican Congressperson Dana Rohrabacher is reported by Judge Andrew Napolitano as admitting the “emperor has no clothes” obvious: US war in Iraq is unlawful and almost all House Republicans know it.

The war in Afghanistan is also Orwellian unlawful, with all 9/11 “justifications” now correctly understood as obvious lies upon inspection of the uncontroversial government-disclosed facts.

FLASHBACK - Israel Bombs Iraq's Osirak Nuclear Research Facility

It was 14 years ago, on June 7, 1981, that 16 U.S.-made Israeli warplanes bombed and destroyed Iraq's Osirak nuclear research facility near Baghdad, more than 600 miles from Israel's borders.1 Prime Minister Menachem Begin claimed the reactor was about to go into operation and was a threat to Israel because it could produce nuclear weapons. Begin's claims were contradicted by a number of experts, but there was considerable circumstantial evidence that Iraq indeed hoped eventually to develop a nuclear weapon.

There are also many evidence implicating Israeli Mossad agents in the 911 bombing of the Trade Center.

On June 24th Judicial-Inc Was Shut Down Again

90% of Judicial-Inc is merely current news links, and the other 10% is commentary on world events. Judicial's number of 'host-suspensions' may set a record for the most banned website on the internet. So you need to ask - why? Obviously the simple answer is some of the analysis is hitting too close to home. There are probably twenty other websites with the same format, and none of them have been touched.

I have to suspect there will be a major event such as a nuke in an American city, followed by an attack on Iran, and this is followed by an economic implosion.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In the days before 9-11, the FBI went around the United States shutting down all the websites of various Muslim charities and news organizations; the websites most likely to ask questions about why the media was blaming Muslims for the attack when Mossad agents were arrested on that day after being seen clapping and cheering as the towers fell.

Coincident with Joe Lieberman's push for total internet censorship, we are seeing attacks on patriot websites and patriots themselves.

This is consistent with the theory that Israel and the US are preparing a new 9-11 to "sell" the war with Iran, and are trying to take down as many of the patriot sites as they can without attracting attention.

Well, too bad, because we can see what they are trying to do.

The Powers-That-Be Are Terrified of the Mass Awakening Taking Place Worldwide

Our situation is admittedly dire.

Oligarchs are seizing more overt control in most countries in the world, the worldwide economy is on course for another - even bigger - train wreck, countries are cracking down on freedom and becoming more tyrannical, we are in a permanent state of war, and companies like BP are destroying our natural resources without any checks and balances.

But as Andrew Gavin Marshall points out, the elites are actually terrified of the mass political awakening which is occurring worldwide.

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) today hailed passage of his resolution, which passed the Senate overwhelmingly on a voice vote, expressing the sense of the Senate that Israel has an undeniable right to self-defense and condemning the recent destabilizing actions by extremists aboard the Mavi Marmara.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US Congress just issued Israel a license to kill Americans anywhere in the world. U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas), whose job is supposed to be taking care of America and Americans, just put his stamp of approval on Israel's seizure of a US-flagged ship in international waters, the attack on 12 Americans in international waters, and the murder of a 19-tear old boy from New York.

And U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) is apparently proud do have sold out Ame3ricans to Israel in such a brazen fashion!

There is no question that if those Americans had been attacked by Iran while taking cookies and candy into whoever it is the Iranian government is trying to starve into submission, U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) would be singing quite a different tune, in the same key that Roosevelt sang when he declared war on Japan for the attack on Pearl Harbor.

One must ask why U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) seems so forgiving of the nation that attacked Americans in international waters. To who does he owe his allegiance? Whom does he serve? To which nation is he loyal?

No government can serve two masters, and a government that serves Israel cannot serve the American people. A friend to Israel is no friend of America.

America needs leaders who will put America first, second, and third.

Iran 'to hit back at ship inspection'

The Chairman of the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL), Mohammad Hossein Dajmar, says Tehran will retaliate if its cargo ships come under inspection.

"To protect its national interests, Iran would be sure to use its legal rights to retaliate if any Iranian ships are inspected," Dajmar said in an interview with IRNA on Sunday.

"According to numerous international rules, all countries have the right to protect their waters," he said, arguing further that Iran "can inspect suspicious ships to confront those countries which support the resolutions."

The UN Security Council passed a US-sponsored anti-Iran resolution on June 9 that imposes restrictions on the country's shipping industry in addition to other sectors.

G-8 'fully believes' Israel will attack Iran, says Italy PM

World leaders "believe absolutely" that Israel may decide to take military action against Iran to prevent the latter from acquiring nuclear weapons, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said Saturday.

“Iran is not guaranteeing a peaceful production of nuclear power [so] the members of the G-8 are worried and believe absolutely that Israel will probably react preemptively,” Berlusconi told reporters following talks with other Group of Eight leaders north of Toronto.

In their communiqué, the leaders of the world's richest countries said they respected Iran's right to a civilian nuclear program, but noted that such a right must be accompanied by commitment to international law.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi: do you ever, possibly, tire of carrying Israel's water on the propaganda front?!?

Sir, the world understands that you are "grooming" the world for an Israeli-led, US-supported attack against Iran, which has played its nuclear energy program by the book, only to have the UN Security Council hit it with sanctions.

And by the way, when the G8 makes that statement about respecting
"...Iran's right to a civilian nuclear program, but noted that such a right must be accompanied by commitment to international law.", what about Israel?!?

Israel has nuclear weapons, but refuses to become a signatory to the NNPT, and will not allow inspections of its nuclear facilities.

Why is the G8 condemning Iran, which does not have nuclear weapons, but staying totally silent about Israel, which does have nuclear weapons?!?

Thinking people around the world are really having a difficult time wrapping their heads around this geopolitical schizophrenia.

PROPAGANDA ALERT - Unemployment Extension Unsuccessful; Americans turn on Each Other

After researchers from U.S. Chronicle reviewed comments posted by users on opencongress.org — a site dedicated to aggregating data and information about Congress from the web — there appears to be an increase in the number of users who verbally abuse other users seeking an unemployment extension.

One user posted a comment asking why people were dependent on the government to help them. The user further went on to state, “The whining for government benefits is embarrassing and pathetic.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This feels like one of those infamous PR campaigns the government mounts to trick Americans into believing their neighbors are totally unsympathetic to the plight of Americans driven into joblessness, homelessness, and bankruptcy. This is just a propaganda trick to help the government evade public condemnation for the chronic mismanagement and looting that wrecked what was once the strongest economy on Earth.

Nobody wants a handout. What We The People want, what We The People DEMAND, is that the government give back that which it took away; the manufacturing that made this nation great in the first place.

Ashkenazi also noted that the personal relationship and organizational relationship between the two is exceptional and among the best ever between the countries. The chief of staff said, "I consider Adm. Mullen a friend and partner on every issue related to the security of the State of Israel."

Sen. Kerry in Israel: Praise for Israel, Worried over Iran

The senator’s visit is viewed as a warm-up for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s upcoming visit to the White House next month, one week after King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia will travel to Washington.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Senator Kerry: so now, Israel's right to "self defense" includes the hijacking of American-flagged vessels in international waters, and assassinating American citizens in cold blood who were attempting to get desperately needed supplies to Gaza?

And you state that "I think everyone in Congress, and in the administration, and in our country was pleased and excited by the steps that Israel has taken now"?!?

These alleged "steps" haven't caused a demonstrable increase in the flow of goods to Gaza, and you know it.

Please move to Israel, and run for the Knesset: you are not putting the interests of your country, the United States, first, second, and third when you fawn all over an Israeli government whose immoral and illegal blockade of Gaza has caused, according to UNICEF figures, 14% of Gazan children to be malnourished.

And finally, with a collapsing economy, exploding oil wells, rampant joblessness and homelessness, and everything else going wrong with the United States, a man PAID BY THE TAXPAYERS to take care of the United States has NO @#%$ING BUSINESS BEING IN ISRAEL!

Who the hell's side are you on, Mr. Senator? Yaalon: Israelis and Evangelicals are 'All in the Same Boat'

Minister of Strategic Affairs Moshe Yaalon spoke at a high profile Christian evangelical conference in the United States on Saturday, and stated that the Israeli government wants to continue to strengthen its relationship with evangelical Christians. Israelis and evangelicals are "all in the same boat," the former Chief of Staff added.

According to CBN analyst Erick Stakelbeck, Yaalon was “undoubtedly the most anticipated speaker for the roughly 1,500 in attendance and 20,000 tuning in via satellite from around the world” to the 2010 Epicenter conference in Philadelphia, which focuses on Bible prophecy, Israel, and the Middle East.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to the Christian Zionists who hold Israel with such reverence; if you really understood what Israelis, and particularly those in government, thought about you, you would be shocked, and your feelings hurt to the very core.

I don't know what the Hebrew phrase is for "useful idiots", but I am betting this would be a close English translation.

I would like to point out to you that Israelis and evangelicals are not "... in the same boat", either theologically or geopolitically.

And any Israeli attempt to sucker you into supporting any more massive wars (like the impending war with Iran) to bring about the so-called "end times" doesn't have a real foundation in Christianity per se, but in Premillennial Dispensationalism.

As noted at:

"Beliefs about the end of the world come out of a complex system of biblical interpretation known as dispensationalism, which is a version of premillennialism (the belief that Christ will return before setting up his millennial kingdom).

Dispensationalism divides up the Bible and human history into various eras or dispensations, based on how God deals with humanity. The system detected two distinct divine plans, one for an "earthly" people (Israel) and the other for a "heavenly" people (the church). The key to this entire prophetic plan is the refounding of Israel as a nation state in Palestine."

There is no consensus in the Evangelical community on eschatology, the theology of the "last things." There are many Evangelicals, however, that do not accept Premillennial Dispensationalism."

"Books like Daniel and Revelation were written in times of persecution and were purposely opaque to those outside of the communities that generated them. Much of their imagery and theology is connected more to ancient texts left outside the biblical canon than the books contained in the Bible. Second, followers of PD seem never to be satisfied with Christ's own warning that "No one knows the day or hour." Hal Lindsey has been embarrassed by the need to "adjust" his Last Day predictions made in The Late Great Planet Earth. In his book, he predicted that the end would come within a generation of the founding of Israel: 1948. Now prophecy proponents begin the timetable at the Israeli capture of east Jerusalem in 1967."

CIA's Panetta: Iran has enough uranium for 2 bombs

CIA Director Leon Panetta says Iran probably has enough low-enriched uranium for two nuclear weapons, but that it likely would take two years to build the bombs.

Panetta also says he is doubtful that recent U.N. penalties will put an end to Iran's nuclear ambitions.

He says the penalties could help to weaken Tehran's government by creating serious economic problems. But he adds, "Will it deter them from their ambitions with regards to nuclear capability? Probably not."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to CIA Director Leon Panetta: sir, we know that these statements are intended to "sell" the American public on a military confrontation with Iran, and that confrontation will probably happen very soon. But your problem is, you have no buyers, because Americans understand the following
facts regarding Iran's nuclear energy program:

1. As a signatory to the NNPT, Iran is perfectly within its rights to develop nuclear energy for peaceful means.

2. With Russia's help, Iran is building a nuclear power plant in Bushehr.

3. As a signatory to the IAEA (at least before the UN slapped sanctions on Iran for playing by the rules), Iran has had its nuclear facilities inspected consistently.

4. To date, no nuclear materials have reported to have gone missing, nor has the uranium been enriched to the degree necessary for creating a weapon. The Iranians have been enriching uranium to 20% for medical isotopes only.

5. Israel has nuclear weapons, and refuses to sign the NNPT, and therefore refuses any inspections of its nuclear facilities. Documents recently published in the British press not only confirm Israel's possession of nuclear weapons, but also their attempted sale of same to other countries, such as apartheid South Africa.

6. Under the Symington Amendment, the US is forbidden from giving any aid to any country which has nuclear weapons but refuses to sign the NNPT. Therefore, the 3 billion dollars given annually to Israel is illegal under standing US law.

Mr. Panetta, I am just an ordinary private citizen with absolutely zero love or affection for any theocratic government, including the current government in Iran.

However, that having been said, Iran has done absolutely nothing to deserve this impending military strike against it. It hasn't invaded another country in over two centuries.

It is simply a country suffering from the very bad luck of having been proclaimed by Israel an "existential threat" to Israel's existence, which must be "neutralized" by a US military strike.

Americans know
that Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak was in Washington last weekend to meet with Admiral Mullen, Secretary of State Clinton, and Secretary of Defense Gates.

Americans know that Admiral Mullen was in Tel Aviv for high level meetings this weekend.

Americans know that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is scheduled for meetings with President Obama on 6 July.

Americans know that a large contingent of US military vessels transited the Suez Canal on the way to the Persian Gulf a little a week ago, accompanied by one Israeli vessel, and that this was anything but a normal rotation of troops and resources.

Americans know that 3 Israeli Dolphin-class subs which are nuclear armed are in the Gulf right now as I type this.

And finally, Mr. Panetta, Americans know that a war against Iran is an horrifically bad idea, and that it may well be waged just because the Obama administration desperately needs a "mother of all distractions" away from how badly its policies, both foreign and domestic, have impacted the American people.

Pace of U.S. economic growth revised down

The government lowered its estimate of how much the economy grew in the first quarter of the year, noting that consumers spent less than it previously thought.

Webmaster's Commentary:

yet again, the gummint lied in its GDP projections and again, they're off in a big way. Anyone who thinks revising downward to 2.7% growth versus the previously announced 3% is 'nothing' need some math lessons -- and more. First, there was the psychological impact that trumpeting THREE per cent conjures versus anything with a TWO in front of it.

Second, buried inside their still halfway rosy outlook is the reality that anything under 3% accomplishes nothing -- and so AGAIN we see why they lied when they showed us 3% last month, because at 3%, they can say they are still achieving a positive result. 2.7% is a failure.

It was a flat out lie the WH hoped would make people feel okay about the economy and spending. So they'd keep spending.

Coming on the heels of the 5.6% GDP growth in the final quarter (naturally, led by holiday shopping) this sends the public a clear message that matches what they experience in their daily lives -- we are NOT moving forward. We are falling back. It's all smoke and mirrors and they're in short supply on both.

BTW, they note that growth has averaged 3.5 over thev past 3 quarters. siomple math says that means growth total adds up to 10.5. we know this quarter was 2.7 nd last quarter was 5.6, or 8.3. subtracting 8.3 from 10.5 we're left with GDP in the previous quarter as 2.2. last i checked, that's a bad joke. This is born out by the revised numbers from last year, found here (oh yeah, that 5.6% 4th quarter growth was also an illusion)

No skimmers in sight as oil floods into Mississippi waters

A morning flight over the Mississippi Sound showed long, wide ribbons of orange-colored oil for as far as the eye could see and acres of both heavy and light sheen moving into the Sound between the barrier islands. What was missing was any sign of skimming operations from Horn Island to Pass Christian.

Saturday’s briefing projected oil would be on the beaches of the barrier islands, the Chandeleurs, in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. For Sunday the projection of beached oil showed thicker lines as the bulk of the oil body moved closer.

For Monday the projection was more of the same, except it included a red X at Bay St. Louis, meaning the forecast is oil will reach the mainland there.

Iraq’s Ancient Ruins Face New Looting

The looting of Iraq’s ancient ruins is thriving again. This time it is not a result of the "stuff happens" chaos that followed the American invasion in 2003, but rather the bureaucratic indifference of Iraq’s newly sovereign government.

Almost a fifth of Iraq's population are refugees or internally displaced, and almost half live in abject poverty - despite $53 billion in "aid" spent since the 2003 invasion (funds that lined the pockets of foreign military contractors and corrupt officials but left 70 percent of Iraqis without potable water or predictable electricity).

Yet the stories of the people of Iraq are virtually absent in mainstream media reports. The ongoing humanitarian disaster is ignored while invasion apologists promote a corrupt pseudo-democracy as a perverse example of "mission accomplished."

Israeli official during informal talks: “Jerusalem was promised by God to the Jews”

The intractable theological position of Israeli negotiators has, in the past, made compromise impossible, because the Israeli government claims that the land was given to them by God, and, as Meridor reiterated during Friday's talk, "God never compromises."

Webmaster's Commentary:

That Saeb Erekat is even meeting with Meridor is ridiculous: he fully understands what the outcome of every meeting with Meridor is going to be, even before he meets with him.

There will be no change, and no possibility of a Palestinian state until and unless Hamas and Fatah begin to truly represent the Palestinian people with one voice, and Israel is not going to allow that to happen.

The bottom line here is that Israel, fueled by hubristic theological dictates, coupled with extreme paranoia, is in the process of rapidly annexing land in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

Unless the world stands up and refuses to allow Israel to let this happen, what we will see here is massed forced expulsion of Palestinians from Jerusalem, the West Bank, and ultimately, Gaza, into stateless refugee status.

Is the Fed Too Big To Fail?

The mark of political sovereignty is legal immunity from failure. For example, the government of the United States cannot be sued without its consent. It is above the law. It must consent to expose itself to the possibility of failure in a court.

In school, we are taught about an ancient idea that is long out of favor: the divine right of kings. What did it mean? I think most people would find it difficult to say. It meant that there was no earthly court of appeal above the king. The king's judicial word was law, because no higher authority could lawfully overturn his word.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If there is one thing we have learned from History, from the fall of Rome to the collapse of the USSR, is that there is no such thing as "too big to fail." And in light of the failure of the US Federal Government to protect Americans attacked in international waters, I think the idea that government is allowed to be above the law is an obsolete idea. At least it was declared to be so back in 1776.

Reaching too Far, Delving too Deep: The Well from Hell

Some geologists say that BP's arrogance has set off a series of events that may be irreversible. There are some that think that BP has drilled into an deep-core oil volcano that cannot be stopped, regardless of the horizontal drills the company claims will stop the oil plume in August.

Geologist, Chris Landau, for instance, has called for a showing of the mudlogs. A mudlog is a schematic cross sectional drawing of the lithology (rock type) of the well that has been bored.

So far, no one has seen them... BP keeps them hidden.

Leader of Death Squads Wins Colombian Election

Juan Manuel Santos, notorious Defense Minister in the regime of outgoing President Alvaro Uribe and closely identified with high crimes against humanity “won” the recent Presidential elections in Colombia, June 2010.

According to the FT, “Colombia not Venezuela is (the) best model for Latin America” (FT 6/23/2010 p. 8). Citing Santos “overwhelming” margin – he garnered 69% of the vote, the FT claimed he won a “strong mandate” (FT 6/22/2010). In what has to be one of the most flagrant cover-ups in recent history, the media accounts exclude the most egregious facts about the elections and the profoundly authoritarian policies pursued by Santos over the past decade.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US has had a long track record of siding with and supporting the most extreme "thugocracies" in foreign countries because it is believed that they will insure "stability" for US business interests, at the complete expense of the betterment of the lives of their own people.

The US government can rest easy and relax here, now that it's very own thug is in charge of Columbia.

Afghan forces must show progress 'within five years': G8

Afghan government forces must make concrete progress towards assuming more responsibility for the security of their country "within five years", the G8 group of nations said Saturday.

A summit statement from the leaders of the world's major industrialized nations called on Kabul to "expand the capacity of the Afghan National Security Forces to assume increasing responsibility for security within five years."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but have the members of the G8 collectively gone totally barking mad, to issue this statement?!?

If the US and NATO haven't been able to accomplish these outcomes nearly 9 years on in this occupation, how the sam hill can you possibly believe that they can be achieved in another 5 years?!?

Personal Computers Could Be Open to Government Access Under New Obama Copyright Plan

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is not about copyrights. This is about the government having absolute access to all your emails and files at all times without a warrant. Back during the Seattle APEC, FBI agents were caught spying on attendees' laptop computers, not for evidence of a crime, but for industrial secrets which were passed on the favored political cronies. Other agents have been charged with insider trading for taking the information gleaned from computers and cell phones and using it for their own personal gain.

Don't get me wrong; my sympathies are very much with the holders of copyrights and I am opposed to sharing of copyrighted files. But Obama's push for unlimited government access to your computers is all about holding off the inevitable revolution while we are taxed into a Gaza lifestyle of poverty and helplessness for the benefit of Obama's Israeli masters. The fact is that the vast majority of file sharers, if they are unable to share the files will not purchase the content anyway BECAUSE NOBODY HAS THE JOBS TO PAY FOR LUXURY ITEMS LIKE MOVIES AND MUSIC. The decline in entertainment revenues matches the decline in revenues across the society. The blame does not fall on the file sharers but on the government which has mismanaged this economy to the edge of ruin. NOBODY is doing good business right now.

The fact is that shutting down the file sharing will not only not significantly improve the sale of music and videos, but will DECREASE the sale of digital media players!

The World At War: AFRICOM vs. Ghana in the Round of 16

I want ordinary, "decent", "intelligent" Americans to see the unprovoked murder of even one innocent person as an intolerable outrage; then I want them to understand that their country has murdered millions upon millions of innocent people, not just at one time and in one place but repeatedly, all over the world, for decades. And I want them to realize that their chant of "USA!! USA!!" is -- for the rest of the world -- the most obscene of non-violent gestures.

GOP presses Obama to implement sanctions without broad waivers

“We know Iran’s greatest weakness: it's dependence on foreign gasoline. I hope the administration will hear our clear bipartisan call. Mr. President, sign it and seal it. Sign this bill and seal off Iran’s gasoline," said Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.).

“While this bill is a vast improvement over the weak half-measures taken by the United Nations, the effectiveness of our own sanctions depends on President Obama’s willingness to vigorously implement them to the fullest extent. Utilizing the broad waivers demanded by his administration would put this entire effort at risk,” said Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.).

Webmaster's Commentary:

The GOP is behaving as though it can't get the war Israel wants going as quickly as humanly possible, because the rapid implementation of these sanctions is merely a prelude to that war.

After all, it's not their kids who will do the fighting, getting maimed for life, and dying to neutralize yet another of Israel's existential threats in the region!

Toxic Rain Hysteria Fueled by Internet Hoaxer…

It’s worth noting that some of this oily-rain hysteria is fueled by an online article which cites a Russian ministerial report warning that toxic oil-spill rains could “destroy all life” on the North American continent. Crucially, the report states that Corexit — the toxic dispersant BP is using — could undergo “phase transition” and then fall with rain. A paragraph on evaporation is simply cut-n-pasted from Wikipedia without attribution.

The author (Sorcha Faal AKA David Booth) is a well-known disinfo hoaxer, often citing imaginary high-level Russian sources in his fantastical and apocalyptic “analysis.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Now you know why Sorcha Faal aka David Booth (who lives suspiciously close to the CIA) is banned at this site. His hoaxes give the media an easy way to ridicule and dismiss the blogs.

Report: Toronto police rough up journalists, arrest peaceful protesters at G20

Reporters covering the G20 summit in Toronto say they were the target of police violence overnight, as riots blamed on anarchist groups left four police cars burning in the financial district and resulted in the arrests of some 150 people.

"A newspaper photographer was shot with a plastic bullet in the backside, while another had an officer point a gun in his face despite identifying himself as a member of the media," reported the Canadian Press news agency.

"As I was escorted away from the demonstration, I saw two officers hold a journalist. The journalist identified himself as working for 'the Guardian.' He talked too much and pissed the police off. Two officers held him a third punched him in the stomach.

US military chief in Israel for top-level talks

The top US military officer, Admiral Mike Mullen, arrived in Tel Aviv on Sunday for talks with Israeli military and defence officials, both sides said.

"This is a very short visit -- he will meet with Defence Minister (Ehud) Barak and with (Chief of Staff) Gaby Ashkenazi and a few others from the defence establishment," a US embassy spokesman told AFP.

Mullen, who is Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was expected to meet Barak at around midday, the Israeli defence ministry said without giving further details.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Ehud Barak was just in Washington DC last weekend for a stealth meeting (i.e., received virtually no coverage in US corporate media) with Sec Def Gates, Admiral Mike Mullen, and Secretary of State Clinton.

The increased flurry of high-level consultations, coupled with the almost virtual corporate medial blackout in the US, may well signal that the attack against Iran is on; it's only a question of when, and how to "sell" such an attack to the American people.
