Secretary Clinton Awarded Anti-Second Amendment Consolation Prize

The founders did not foresee the rise of the mass media and the takeover of that media by an ideology dedicated to fraud, trickery, and manipulation. They did not foresee the domination of the government by the media. The Second Amendment was designed to prevent the takeover of the sovereignty of the people by force. Progressives have worked mightily to use their subversion of the First Amendment to degrade the power of the Second Amendment.

Idiocracy Looms? Study Suggests IQ Scores Are Falling Due To Social Media, Central Banks

A new study, published Monday by Norwegian researchers analyzed the IQ scores between 1962 and 1991 and found that scores increased by almost 3 percentage points each decade for those born between 1962 to 1975 - but then saw a steady decline among those born after 1975.

The earlier rise in IQ scores follows the so-called "Flynn effect" - a term for the long-term increase in intelligence levels that occurred during the 20th century, arguably the result of better access to education - according to Stuart Ritchie, a postdoctoral fellow in cognitive ageing at the University of Edinburgh whose research explores IQ scores and intelligence and who was not involved in the new study.

But the new study, along with similar studies in Denmark, Britain, France, the Netherlands, Finland and Estonia, have all demonstrated a similar downward trend in IQ scores since the early 1970s.

No Joke: Head of BBC comedy says Oxbridge white blokes of Python wouldn’t get on TV now

A BBC boss has suggested classic shows like Monty Python would not be commissioned today as the ‘Oxbridge white bloke’s’ day is over.

Head of comedy Shane Allen said the broadcaster no longer values the ‘metropolitan, educated experience’ and needs to be more diverse.

Monty Python stars such as John Cleese and Michael Palin, along with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, have all forged successful BBC careers after studying at Oxbridge.

But Mr Allen, apparently forgetting that one of the six Pythons – Terry Gilliam – didn’t go to Oxford or Cambridge, said: ‘If you’re going to assemble a team now it’s not going to be six Oxbridge white blokes. It’s going to be a diverse range of people who reflect the modern world.’

David Hogg Relaunches Advertiser Boycott Against Laura Ingraham

Gun control activist David Hogg renewed efforts to get advertisers to boycott Fox News’ Laura Ingraham by tweeting a list of advertisers that include Cabela’s and John Deere.

CBNBC reports Hogg originally sought a boycott of Ingraham in late March after he felt slighted by her during his gun control campaign. His boycott efforts revolved around comments she made regarding the list of colleges that refused to accept him.

Now he is pointing to comments Ingraham made in support of President Trump’s commitment to enforcing existing immigration law. This support includes Ingraham describing detention centers for children illegally crossing the border as “summer camps.”

CA Judge: Twitter Can Be Sued For Falsely Advertising They Allow Free Speech

A California judge has ruled that social media giant Twitter can be sued for falsely advertising free speech. The judge said that Twitter’s policy of banning users “at any time, for any reason or for no reason” may constitute an “unconscionable contract” for a company which advertises free speech.

The judge rejected Twitter’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit from Jared Taylor, who was banned by the platform in December last year, according to Breitbart. Taylor, a self-described “white activist” may proceed with his lawsuit against Twitter because the social media company falsely advertises free speech, yet bans users for “any or no reason.” The judge also ruled that Twitter could be sued on the basis of misleading its users, due to the platform’s promise not to ban accounts on the basis of viewpoint or political affiliation, which is frequently violated.

Disney & Studios Can’t Dodge Claims Over Stolen Technology

Disney and other major film studios cannot dodge lawsuits claiming they used stolen technology to create lifelike animated characters in top-grossing films like “Beauty and the Beast,” a federal judge ruled Monday.

Finding it plausible that the studios knew they were using stolen software and that they directly benefited from that use, U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar refused to dismiss claims of vicarious and contributory copyright infringement.

“Liability here could be very substantial,” Mark Carlson, a lawyer for plaintiff Rearden LLC, said in an interview.

Rearden, a San Francisco-based technology firm, sued the studios last year.

Rearden claims Disney, Twenty-First Century Fox, Paramount Pictures and video game maker Crystal Dynamics knowingly contracted with Digital Domain 3.0, or DD3, a company that acquired a stolen version of its facial performance motion capture technology.

A Brazilian Judge Just Handed Facebook Censorship Powers

A Brazilian judge has ordered Facebook to remove all current posts that offend the “image, honor and privacy” of slain politician Marielle Franco — and all future posts of the same nature. This could set a dangerous precedent for freedom of speech online in the country.

Rio de Janeiro city councilor Marielle Franco and her driver Anderson Gomes were killed in a drive-by shooting on the night of the March 14. Franco, 38, was a vocal critic of local police violence. Soon after her murder, false reports claiming she had been married to a drug lord and that she was elected with the support of a criminal group began circulating online, among other unqualified rumors.

Marielle’s widow and sister filed separate libel claims against Facebook and Google in an effort to get the stories removed from search results and social media. In both cases, the courts ruled in their favor.

50 Media Mistakes in the Trump Era: The Definitive List

We the media have “fact-checked” President Trump like we have fact-checked no other human being on the planet—and he’s certainly given us plenty to write about. That’s probably why it’s so easy to find lists enumerating and examining his mistakes, missteps and “lies.”

But as self-appointed arbiters of truth, we’ve largely excused our own unprecedented string of fact-challenged reporting. The truth is, formerly well-respected, top news organizations are making repeat, unforced errors in numbers that were unheard of just a couple of years ago.

Our repeat mistakes involve declaring that Trump’s claims are “lies” when they are matters of opinion, or when the truth between conflicting sources is unknowable; taking Trump’s statements and events out of context; reporting secondhand accounts against Trump without attribution as if they’re established fact; relying on untruthful, conflicted sources; and presenting reporter opinions in news stories—without labeling them as opinions.

Israeli use of live fire in Gaza Strip creates unprecedented crisis: Red Cross

International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) says Israeli troops’ unrestricted use of live ammunition against unarmed Palestinian protesters in the besieged Gaza Strip has left the enclave’s health workers struggling to cope with an unprecedented crisis.

More than 130 Palestinians, including 14 children, have so far been killed by Israeli troops since the Great March of Return rallies commenced in the blockaded sliver on March 30. Some 13,300 Palestinians also sustained wounds, of them 300 are currently in a critical condition.

Robert Mardini, the regional director for the Middle East at the ICRC, further said at a press conference on Monday that the “vast majority” of more than 13,000 hospitalized demonstrators had suffered severe injuries, including multiple gunshot wounds.

“This is I think a crisis of unprecedented magnitude in the Gaza Strip,” Mardini said, adding that he was in talks with the Israeli military in a bid to minimize civilian harm.

War of Aggression: The Saudi & UAE Slaughter in Yemen isn’t a Proxy Conflict with Iran

Alongside their throttlehold over which reporters can visit what parts of Yemen, and thus what story they can tell, Saudi and Emirati investments in public relations, lobbying, think-tanks, and political consultants are shaping the narrative about their war there. Headline writers, pundits, Wikipedia, news correspondents, and even some so-called experts frame the asymmetric conflict as a “proxy war.” Sunnis nations led by Saudi Arabia are battling Shi`a Iran and its regional proxies, the story goes; the world’s worst man-made humanitarian disaster thus appears as un-named collateral damage.

US to Leave ‘Foolish, Unworthy’ UN Human Rights Council Over Anti-Israel Bias

The United States’ demands regarding reforming the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) have failed to be met, and as such Washington is reportedly ready to pull out over what it calls anti-Israel bias and the inclusion of alleged rights abusers.

Diplomats told Reuters that it's merely a matter of time before the US exits the council, which will convene Monday for a three week convention that will last until July 6. One US source who spoke anonymously said that an announcement looks "imminent."

Another US official in Geneva, where the UNHRC will meet June 18, said, "we are still moving ahead with our engagement for the coming session."

The US and UK have lost any credibility at the UN in general, and the Human Rights Council in particular, by preventing the vote on an immediate cease-fire in Yemen.

UN Rehects Plan for an Immediate Cease-fire in Yemen.

Madam Ambassador, you may as well pack it up, and resign; the UN has just proven itself impotent to stop the bloodshed here, and it is primarily because of grandstanding by the US and UK here, that this has happened.

It appears, in this move, that both you and the UK's Ambassador to the UN, Karen Pierce, have both had your consciences surgically removed, so that arms sales to Saudi Arabia by both countries can continue at warp speed, and the Saudi genocide against the Yemenis can continue, unabated.

Oh, and by "human rights abusers", are you talking about the US's new BFF, Saudi Arabia, which is conducting this genocide against the people of Yemen, enabled through US military participation in their war crimes?!?

Ambassador Haley, let's be clear about for whom you are working at the UN; you are not working for the needs and concerns of We the People; you are working for the needs and concerns of the US military/industrial complex, the Saudi government, and its new-found ally, Israel.

There is blood on your, and on the President's hands, because of this; and those with any shred of moral decency still left in them, will not soon forget this.

Facebook sees significant drop in people using it for news

Since the 2016 U.S. presidential election, Facebook has come under fire for the rise of so-called "fake-news," an issue the company is correcting, albeit with mixed success. Despite its efforts, the social network has seen a significant drop in people using it for news, as messaging apps, including Facebook-owned WhatsApp, become more prevalent for news consumption.

The Digital News Report notes that social media, and in particular Facebook, has seen a sharp drop in news consumption globally, as well as in the U.S. "News consumption via Facebook is down 9 percentage points in the United States and 20 points with younger groups," Nic Newman, Research Associate, Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism wrote in the report's overview.

Newman continued: "In our urban Brazilian sample the use of Facebook for news has fallen to 52 percent — a 17 point change from 2016."

Numerous FBI employees accepted inappropriate gifts from reporters and routinely spoke to media outlets without authorization during the Hillary Clinton email probe, the Justice Department's watchdog revealed in Thursday's long-awaited accountability report.

The shocking revelation came just a week after the former security director for the Senate Intelligence Committee -- who was in charge of maintaining all classified information from the Executive Office to the panel -- was indicted for allegedly giving false statements to FBI agents looking into possible leaks to reporters.

"We identified instances where FBI employees improperly received benefits from reporters, including tickets to sporting events, golfing outings, drinks and meals, and admittance to nonpublic social events," reads the report by the inspector general, Michael Horowitz.

American Mass Media And Punditry Remain A Dishonest, Militaristic Embarrassment

When it comes to U.S. presidents, experience has taught me to always assume the worst. Irrespective of what the winning candidate said on the campaign trail, a few things things tend to happen once they’re sworn into office. To name a few, we almost always end up with a further expansion of the imperial presidency, more pointless wars, growth in the surveillance state and continued unaccountable pillaging by Wall Street. The worst trends and elements of society tend to grow no matter who sits in the oval office.

As such, I’m genuinely heartened by those rare occasions when a U.S. president tries to reduce geopolitical tensions and prioritize peace. This isn’t to say such attempts will work out perfectly, or work at all, but in a world in which a hammer-focused American foreign policy tends to see every situation as a nail, attempts at peace should at the very least be supported by those who claim to care about such things.

So we've been noting how (thanks to FOIA requests) the FCC has been caught completely making up a DDOS attack in a bizarre, ham-fisted attempt to downplay public opposition to their net neutrality repeal. In short, agency e-mails confirm agency staffers routinely fed false claims to gullible reporters that the FCC website outages caused by John Oliver's coverage of the repeal were the result of a malicious attack, then used those false claims to further prop up the bogus narrative. It is easy for me to identify my own process of awakening. It began with the dislocation of moving to Nazareth and being immersed in someone else’s narrative – that of the Palestinians. Then, I faced for the first time in my career as a journalist an impenetrable wall of opposition, even from my own former newspaper, the Guardian, as I tried to explain that counter-narrative. In fact, I found that the Palestinian narrative was invariably misrepresented as anti-semitism. These were dark years of disillusionment and the loss of a professional and ideological compass.
