Abbas threatens to dissolve Palestinian Authority

Sources close to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas have said that the politician asked the German Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, to pass along a serious message to Israel about his intention to dissolve the Palestinian Authority. Abbas allegedly made this statement during a meeting between the two politicians a few days ago in Ramallah.

Al-Quds newspaper quoted Palestinian saying, "President Mahmoud Abbas has grown quite angry at Israel's continued escalations and provocations in the West Bank and Jerusalem. He told the German Foreign Minister: 'enough is enough! Let them take the keys and manage the occupied Palestinian territories'. He is threatening to dissolve the Palestinian Authority".

Israel blasts Spain's symbolic vote on Palestine independence

Israel has censured the Spanish parliament over a symbolic vote, which calls on the Madrid government to recognize Palestine as a sovereign state.

"The declaration of the Spanish parliament only distances the chance of reaching an agreement between Israel and the Palestinians, because it encourages the Palestinians to become more extreme in their positions," Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Extreme. You know, like thinking they have a right to their own country?

Prominent Israeli terrorist rabbi Dov Lior calls for "cleansing" of Palestinians

A well-known Israeli settler rabbi recently called for Israel to “cleanse” the territories it occupies of all Palestinians, according to the news website The Times of Israel.

During a visit to Israeli settlers on 30 September in the occupied West Bank, Rabbi Dov Lior said that Israel “must strive to cleanse the entire country” of Palestinians, ostensibly referring to present-day Israel, the occupied West Bank and the besieged Gaza Strip.

Zionist violence escalates in Occupied Palestine

it is downright disingenuous and simply plain wrong to define an “Israeli” settler as a civilian and by extension a victim of “terror”. The Zionist project from its very inception in the 19th century, brought Jewish immigrants from all over the world into Palestine in order to violently seize Palestinian land and dispossess the indigenous Palestinians so that “Israel” could come into being. The mere length of time that a squatter has resided on land that does not belong to him can never transform a bogus claim into a right. “Israel” is an illegitimate entity and “Israeli” is a manufactured label meant to give supremacist settlers a national identity.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Meanwhile ABCNNBBCBSFOX are totally focused on the synagogue attack while refusing to even acknowledge the earlier attacks by Israelis on the Al Agsa Mosque, the lynching of the Palestinian bus driver, and the shooting of a Palestinian teenager for "loitering."

PCHR Report On Israeli Human Rights Violations in the oPt for November 06 - 12, 2014

During the reporting period, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian civilian in al-Aroub refugee camp, north of Hebron. They wounded 26 civilians, including 10 children, in the West Bank. Five of these civilians were wounded during Israeli incursions, including 3 children, and one of them was arrested. Moreover, 3 civilians, including an international human rights activist, were wounded in Bil'in weekly protest, west of Ramallah, while 17 others, including 7 children, were wounded in other peaceful protests. A civilian was also wounded by settlement guards as he ran down and stabbed Israeli soldiers at "Kfar Etzion" settlement, south of Bethlehem. In the Gaza Strip, Israeli navy forces opened fire 3 times at Palestinian fishing boats. As a result, 2 fishermen were wounded and 2 boats were burnt.

In the West Bank, in excessive use of force, on 11 November 2014, Israeli forces killed a Palestinian civilian in al-'Aroub refugee camp, north of Hebron.

Israel to ease gun controls after attack

Israel is to ease controls on carrying weapons for self-defence after a deadly Palestinian attack on a Jerusalem synagogue, Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch said on Tuesday.

"In the coming hours, I will ease restrictions on carrying weapons," he said in remarks broadcast on public radio, indicating it would apply to anyone with a licence to carry a gun, such as private security guards and off-duty army officers.

Hot Off The Press-Har Nof Jerusalem Is Deir Yassin and it is Remembered

The attack on a synagogue in Jerusalem today took place in Har Nof, a Jewish neighborhood built over the ruins of Deir Yassin, a Palestinian village whose inhabitants were wiped out on April 9, 1948. The Deir Yassin Massacre delivered a clear message to the Palestinian people. The Jewish militias were driven by genocidal inclinations and the Arabs better run for their lives. However, it seems as if the Palestinian collective memory is alive and kicking - it may be possible that the Deir Yassin Massacre was commemorated today.

Netanyahu: Peace with Palestinians is elusive

"Achieving peace with the Palestinians becomes more and more elusive due to the continuous incitement carried out by the Palestinian Authority," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said.

Netanyahu strongly criticised calls by some European parliaments to unilaterally recognise the Palestinian state outside the context of achieving a peaceful settlement between the Palestinians and Israelis.

3 Americans killed by ax-wielding Palestinians in Jerusalem synagogue attack

The attack, the deadliest in Jerusalem in years, is bound to ratchet up fears of sustained violence in the city, already on edge amid soaring tensions over a contested holy site.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that Israel will “respond harshly” to the attack, describing it as a “cruel murder of Jews who came to pray and were killed by despicable murderers.” U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said he spoke to Netanyahu after the assault and denounced it as an “act of pure terror and senseless brutality and violence.”

The Decision by the International Criminal Court (ICC) not to Prosecute Israel for War crimes Questions its own Viability

The decision this week by the ICC not to investigate the point-blank killing, by Israeli commandos, of nine unarmed Turkish passengers on board the Mavi Marmara aid vessel in 2010, although there was a ‘reasonable basis’ to believe that Israel had committed a war crime in its maritime attack upon civilians, seems indefensible.

The decision not to prosecute will inevitably raise questions about the integrity and impartiality of the ICC in the face of political pressure by the global Israel lobby that already operates in Washington, London and Brussels.

The reason given by the ICC chief prosecutor that the court is more concerned with larger scale incidents, ignores the fact that this attack upon civilian passengers in international waters was part of a six year campaign by the Israeli government to effect an illegal regime change in Gaza by means of a blockade of essential goods to 1.8 million Palestinian Arabs – that still continues today.

Israel could soon find itself in trouble and face the wrath of Brussels: any further attempts to pose obstacles to a two-state solution with occupied Palestine could result in sanctions, Haaretz revealed, citing a 'confidential' EU document.

The classified paper was originally intended for internal circulation among the 28 member states, but word of its existence reached Israel after some of its diplomats in the EU leaked the fact to the Foreign Ministry back home.

Although the Israelis could not secure the full text of the document, some important details have come out, thanks to three EU diplomats and two senior Israeli officials.

Palestinians facing upsurge in Israeli repression

Israel’s attacks on Palestinians are continuing, as tensions increase in Jerusalem and beyond.

Israeli Prime Minister, Netanyahu, has announced the reintroduction of punitive house demolitions, an inflammatory and illegal act – whilst a further 200 settlement units have just been approved in East Jerusalem. This week Israel bombed a Palestinian fishing boat off the coast of Gaza, as attacks on fishermen become an increasingly common event. Now Israel’s impunity looks set to continue with Israel refusing to cooperate with the UN Inquiry into the war on Gaza.

“Civility”: Israel Lobby’s New Weapon Against Free Speech on US Campuses

As I was driving through Indiana en route to Michigan this weekend, I saw this billboard for a local sheriff’s election campaign. There, above the uniformed police officer with his military-style crew cut, is the slogan “Return to Civility.”

It seemed the perfect metaphor for what “civility” has come to mean on US campuses: the forceful policing, at the behest of Israel lobby groups, of any discourse or activism critical of Israel.

In the wake of Israel’s latest Gaza massacre, the civility police are cracking down hard. Most notoriously, administrators and trustees at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have used the excuse of “civility” to fire Steven Salaita for his strong criticisms of, among other things, Israel’s slaughter of hundreds of children in Gaza.

But civility crackdowns are now breaking out across the country.

HOW A NON ISSUE CAN LEAD TO A WAR IN ISRAEL

Anyone who wants to track the progress Israel has made on the steep slope toward fanaticism, religiosity and backwardness must examine its relationship to the Temple Mount. Anyone who insists on labeling Israel a modern Western country can’t ignore the extraordinary change that has taken place in recent years. And anyone who still thinks this is a nonreligious society must heed the dark and insane forces that motivate it.

In no country in the West — which Israel pretends to belong to, more and more in vain — does an archeological site turn into an “existential foundation” and excuse for bloodshed. In no country in the West is holiness a matter of policy.

This August, during five days and four nights of demonstrations at the Port of Oakland, a diverse group of pro-Palestine and social justice activists under the banner of the Block the Boat coalition picketed several berths where the Israeli cargo ship Zim Piraeus attempted to dock. Activists returned to the port whenever workers were dispatched to unload it—in some cases in the middle of the night. Their numbers, which fluctuated between dozens and thousands, were not always sufficient to physically block all entrances to the vessel. Yet the action succeeded due to the support of Oakland’s longshoremen, members of the International Longshore Workers Union (ILWU) Local 10, who refused to cross the community picket lines. Even when police surrounded and split protestors on multiple occasions, workers refused to proceed and unload the ship. The ship eventually left port, unable to unload most of its cargo.

Violence spreads across Israel after shooting in Galilee

Months of simmering violence between Israelis and Palestinians in East Jerusalem spread to Israeli Arab towns this weekend after police shot and killed a 22-year-old man in the Galilee town of Kufr Kana, apparently as he was running away.

In their original statements about the death on Friday night police said Kheir Hamdan was shot when he tried to stab an officer during an attempt to arrest him for allegedly throwing a stun grenade in the town, near Nazareth.

However, CCTV footage of the shooting shows Hamdan tried to strike a police car several times with an object in his hand – allegedly the knife – but officers were inside, with Hamdan posing no immediate threat to them. When a police officer opens the door, Hamdan is seen retreating. It is at this point he is shot.

Periodic situation evaluations of the Israel Defense Forces’ (IDF) highest command echelons warned that the harsh economic situation, lack of a diplomatic horizon and overall feeling of frustration and that there is no way out are likely to be the catalysts. Shin Bet assessments disseminated in 2013 even showed worrisome data regarding growing unrest in the West Bank, and painted the picture of the lone terrorist going out on his own to carry out an attack without the backing of organizational infrastructure. These assessments even led to closer security cooperation between Israel and the Palestinian Authority with the goal of detecting and thwarting the first signs of terrorist organization if and when they appear on the ground.

But apparently the Israeli security system didn't imagine that the third intifada it had anticipated, warned against and prepared for would erupt specifically in Jerusalem, and with such intensity.

The situation in Jerusalem is 'out of control'

The clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian citizens, and protest demonstrations quickly escalated since Wednesday's Israeli attack of the building of the Aqsa mosque compound, and Ibrahim Akkari's run over, who was immediately shot in Jerusalem.

Clashes in Jerusalem and the West Bank have been successive, after Akkari's funeral in Jerusalem, which Israeli occupation allowed only 35 members of his family to attend.

The funeral limitation aggravated the clashes all over Jerusalem neighborhoods, where two Palestinian citizens were injured by Israeli bullets and one Israeli border guard was injured of stone throwing in Shu'fat refugee camp south occupied Jerusalem.

Clashes took place in Issawiya, Hizma and Al-Toor neighborhoods south Jerusalem, where Palestinians utilized fireworks and stones to defend themselves.

Outrage as ICC Drops Case Against Israel for Deadly Attack On Humanitarian Flotilla

The International Criminal Court is being accused of "defying justice" following Thursday's announcement that prosecutors will not further investigate or press charges against Israel for its 2010 deadly assault on a Gaza-bound flotilla bearing humanitarian aid from Turkey.

The ruling came despite the court's acknowledgement that Israel likely committed war crimes.

Israeli police, settlers storm Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa Mosque compound

A group of Israeli settlers stormed Jerusalem’s flashpoint al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Nov. 5 following clashes between Israeli police forces and Palestinians inside the complex, a Palestinian official said.

“The Israeli police allowed the settlers to enter and storm the compound and are now providing them protection,” said Sheikh Azzam al-Khatib, director-general of the Organization for Muslim Endowments and al-Aqsa Affairs, a Palestinian NGO.

The incident occurred after violent clashes, during which scores of Palestinians were injured.

“At least 15 Palestinian were injured by rubber bullets, including two in the head and one in the eye, while dozens suffered teargas inhalation,” a Palestinian guard of the holy complex told Anadolu Agency.

If Israel Outlaws Palestinian Political Voices, Declare One State

The Israeli state prosecutor will open a case against Zoabi for “criminal incitement” because the police provocatively assigned two Israeli Palestinian female officers to provoke her at one of her public appearances. The MK called them “collaborators,” which of course they were. A new Knesset bill proposed by the far-right Yisrael Beitenu would prohibit anyone “supporting terrorism” from running for Knesset. Another would strip Zoabi, specifically of citizenship.

The “proof” she supported terrorism is that in an interview:

Zoabi described an Israeli Air Force pilot as “no less a terrorist than a person who takes a knife and commits a beheading.” She added that “both are armies of murderers, they have no boundaries and no red lines.”

Lawless Israeli House Demolitions

Since 1967, Israel demolished over 28,000 Palestinian homes. According to its Interior Ministry. Jerusalem Municipality. Civil Administration.

UN bodies and agencies. Israeli human rights groups. International ones. ICAHD field monitoring. Various other sources.

Demolitions are politically motivated. Lawless. Unjustifiable for:

punishment for any reason or none at all;

building without virtually impossible to get permits on Palestinian owned land;

land-clearing/military demolitions to steal Palestinian land for Jews; and

other undefined reasons.

How 'peace envoy' Tony Blair enables Israeli raids in illegally occupied West Bank

WORDS CAN lose their meaning when Tony Blair speaks. Collecting his “philanthropist of the year” award from GQ magazine, Blair recently said he could feel the “pulse of progress beating a little harder.”

Judging by the pronouncements he has made as a Middle East “peace envoy,” Blair’s definition of “progress” appears different from the standard one.

In 2010, Blair hailed a tiny easing of Israel’s siege on Gaza as a “significant change.” The following year he praised Hosni Mubarak, the Egyptian dictator who facilitated that siege, as a “force for good.”

And earlier this month, Blair claimed that John Kerry was “absolutely tireless” in his efforts to promote peace, conveniently forgetting that the US secretary of state had publicly endorsed Israel’s attack on Gaza during the summer.

Amnesty: Israel committed war crimes in Gaza Strip

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM: Amnesty International Wednesday accused Israel of committing war crimes during the war in the Gaza Strip this summer, saying it displayed “callous indifference” in attacks on family homes in the densely populated coastal area.

The Gaza war left more than 2,100 Palestinians dead, including many civilians according to Palestinian and U.N. officials. Israel says the number of militants killed was much higher and accuses Hamas of using civilians as human shields. On the Israeli side, 66 soldiers and six civilians were killed.

Amnesty said in a report that “Israeli forces killed scores of Palestinian civilians in attacks targeting houses full of families, which in some cases have amounted to war crimes.”

Jordan recalls envoy to Israel over al-Asqa Mosque clashes

Jordan has recalled its ambassador to Israel and moved to lodge a complaint at the United Nations amid attacks by Israeli troops on Palestinians at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).

On Wednesday, Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Nsur asked Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh to recall the Jordanian ambassador, Walid Obeidat, from Tel Aviv in protest at what he described as Israeli violations in al-Quds and the holy sites there.

The Jordanian prime minister also instructed the country’s delegation at the UN to file a formal complaint with the UN Security Council against Israel.

Many Injuries Reported as Israeli soldiers Invade Al-Aqsa Mosque

Dozens of Israeli soldiers invaded, on Wednesday morning, the grounds of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, assaulted the worshipers with concussion grenades, gas bombs and rubber-coated metal bullets, and invaded the main mosque within the compound.

The Maan News Agency said dozens of soldiers invaded the yards of the mosque through the al-Magharba Gate and the Chain Gate (Bab as-Silsila) and assaulted dozens of worshipers who managed to reach the mosque yards.

Sheikh Azzam al-Khatib, head of the Islamic Waqf and Endowment in Jerusalem, stated that dozens of soldiers invaded the al-Qibli mosque while heavily armed.

Al-Khatib denounced the military desecration of the mosque, and this serious violation, especially since the soldiers violated the sanctity of the mosque, wearing their shoes and carrying their weapons into the house of prayer, in a serious escalation and assault.

Another Palestinian Hit by Israeli Settler Car

An Israeli settler driving through Beit Jala, on Tuesday morning, hit Palestinian citizen Ibrahim Hamdan with his car as he was on his way to work, according to witnesses.

Local sources told Ma'an that the settler appeared to hit him "deliberately."

Mr. Hamdan was taken to a hospital in Beit Jala for treatment, locals said, without providing further details, other than that he had been lightly injured.

An Israeli police spokesman reportedly did not answer calls seeking comment.

Repeated failures compound Netanyahu’s Al-Aqsa predicament

The recent closure of the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem by the Israeli government constitutes yet more evidence that peace between Israel and the Palestinians has never been more distant.

The Al-Aqsa mosque, located in Jerusalem’s Old City, is the third holiest site in Islam. It sits within an enclosed compound known as the Noble Sanctuary, which also includes the Dome of the Rock, an Islamic shrine built on the site of the sacred stone which is believed to mark the place from where the Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven. The Dome of the Rock is also believed by Jewish scholars to be the location of the first and second temples, both of which were destroyed – the first by the Babylonians in 586 BCE, the second by the Romans in 70 CE. Within Judaism the entire area, including Al-Aqsa, is known as Temple Mount and is equally as sacred.

Israeli settlements: 'Unfortunate' or illegal?

Answering a question on November 3 about Israel's new construction plans in East Jerusalem, the US State Department spokeswoman said they were "unfortunate". Why didn't she say "illegal"?

There is pretty much a consensus among international lawyers, except in Israel, that the Israeli settlements in the occupied territories including East Jerusalem are illegal. The basis for this is article 49 of the fourth Geneva Convention adopted in 1949: "The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies."

Israel, it appears, has no more right to build settlements than the UK or the US would have had to build British or American settlements in Iraq after the 2003 war.

89 Palestine families wiped out by Israel’s Gaza campaign

At least 89 entire families have been killed in Gaza since Israel started its military campaign, Palestinian health officials said. The Judeh family, a woman and her four children, died after an airstrike hit their house reportedly without warning.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel is still justifying this latest war crime on the basis of the three murdered teenagers in the West Bank by the "terrorist" group HAMAS, even though the local police in that area said there was no evidence to link the murders to HAMAS. But let us look at another incident to put this in context. Back in 2001, the leader of the Jewish Defense League (deemed a terrorist group by the FBI), Irv Rubin, was caught plotting to blow up a mosque in Culver City and assassinate Congressman Daryl Issa. The US did NOT proceed to bomb all of Israel, they simply arrested Irv Rubin and threw him into prison where he was "suicided" before he could testify at his trial as to the sources of his funding and weapons.

Over 1.7 million Gazans isolated from the world after Israel, Egypt close crossings

Gaza has become an open-air prison after Israel decided to close two border crossings with Gaza, the army said on Sunday, after a rocket allegedly fired from the Palestinian enclave struck its territory.

The Israeli blockade comes a week after Egypt closed its border with Gaza. With all borders closed, more than one and a half million people in Gaza are now isolated from the outside world. They are prisoners inside the 360 square kilometers that make up the coastal Strip.
