Britain’s Nigel Farage exults over Trump and Brexit wins at CPAC

FARAGE insists the tide that caused Brexit and Trump’s victory will not stop.

His speech was entitled ‘Brexit and What it Means for the World’.

Farage claims the people of Europe are tired of being ruled by “boring grey men in Brussels”.

There were loud boos when Farage mentioned former British PM Tony Blair.

He referred to Blair’s recent comments about EU membership.

He said: “Blair is wrong because what happened in 2016 is not the end of this great global revolution.

“What happened in 2016 is the beginning of a great global revolution.”

JOHN MCCAIN ILLEGALLY TRAVELS TO SYRIA, MEETS WITH LEADERS AND FIGHTING GROUPS; NO CRITICISM FROM MSM

Shortly after the mainstream media erupted in hysteria and neo-McCarthyistic attacks against former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn for having a routine conversation with the Russian Ambassador and for once having dinner with the President of Russia as part of an event, aging warmonger Senator John McCain recently announced that he had traveled illegally into Syria to meet with U.S. troops illegally stationed there as well as to meet with ISIS supporter and President of Turkey, Recep Tayip Erdogan. McCain also met with the Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and crown prince Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In addition, McCain also met with Kurdish fighters on the ground in Syria.

On February 22, McCain’s spokeswoman, Julie Tarallo, confirmed that McCain had made the trip, saying it was a “valuable opportunity to assess dynamic conditions on the ground in Syria and Iraq.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

We're all familiar with the tag line from the commercial about the credit card, asking "What's in YOUR wallet"?!?

And I have to admit that I have been curious as to what is in Senator McCain's financial portfolio; and how many of those companies are a big part of the US's military/industrial complex.

It is very unfortunate for this country that Congressional Representatives, unlike their President, are not obliged to put their financial affairs into a blind trust, upon taking their oath of office. And what, you might logically want to ask, right now about Senator McCain's estimated net worth?!?

Senator McCain's estimated next worth is 21 million dollarsd

NOW, THAT is a financial empire....which, geopolitically needs constant tending, so here's the most probable "back story" for his little, Logan Act- defying "junket" to the Middle East.

His loyalty to his corporate, warmongering masters cannot be disputed at this point; and this little "visit", I am reasonably certain, was not about creating regional peace through hard-won, moral negotiations which might alleviate the need for any further US military intervention in the Middle East, , but the incitement of even more bloody wars, from which his "good friends" in the military/industrial complex and the financial industry, will profit mightily.

SYRIAN WAR PROPAGANDA AT THE OSCARS

The Western-backed war in Syria, like the invasion of Iraq, was so smothered by propaganda that truth was not only the first casualty but has been steadily suffocated for five years, now reaching the Oscars, says Rick Sterling.

The Netflix movie “The White Helmets” may win an Oscar in the “short documentary” category at the Academy Awards on Sunday. It would not be a surprise despite the fact that the group is a fraud and the movie is a contrived infomercial.

The “White Helmets” symbol, expropriating the name of “Syria Civil Defense.”

Awarding “The White Helmets” an Oscar would fit with the desire of Hollywood to appear supportive of “human rights,” even if that means supporting a propaganda operation to justify another bloody “regime change” war in the Middle East.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This so reminds me of the year when John Cameron's masterpiece "Avatar", one of the most brilliant anti-war movies ever made, was snubbed in favor of "The Hurt Locker", lionizing war.

Should this film win the Oscar for (alleged) best documentary, it will again underscore just how irrelevant the Oscars have become, and demonstrate the corrosive influence of the "deep state" in presenting propaganda as truth to the American people, and beyond.

Western Russophobia in Psychotic Phase

Divorced from reality this mindset has become psychotic.

Western politicians, military leaders and corporate news media increasingly blame Russia for all manner of perceived transgressions. Whether it is alleged interference in national elections or alleged aggressive military maneuvers, the unremitting demonizing of Russia is astonishing.

It is all the more astounding because the anti-Russia accusations are leveled with such high-handedness and yet with so little evidence to support.

Mission Unaccomplished, 15 Years Later

If you’re going to surround yourself with generals in the Oval Office, as Donald Trump has done, that means one thing in these years: you’re going to appoint men whose careers were made (or unmade) by what was once known as the Global War on Terror. They will be deeply associated with Washington’s 15 years of disastrous wars and conflicts in the Greater Middle East, which have left that region a set of failed or near-failed states and a hotbed of terror outfits, including various branches of al-Qaeda and the Islamic State. Secretary of Defense James “Mad Dog” Mattis, for instance, led troops in the initial post-invasion period in Afghanistan in 2001; in the taking of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, in 2003; in the fierce fighting for the city of Fallujah in 2004; and then, from 2010 to 2013, he was in charge of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), with responsibility for the Greater Middle East.

Great Expectations

We all have great expectations, especially when we are young. Later in life, sunny skies often turn dark and by necessity we trim our sails.

So it is both refreshing and quite remarkable to encounter a 70-year old man whose life trajectory set him on the opposite course of continually enlarging his expectations, most especially when that man is the recently installed President of the United States.

Unfortunately, when a large dose of capriciousness worthy of a Boris Yeltsin, as a Russian editorialist recently noted, is added to those expectations, those of us who supported Donald Trump's presidential bid in hopes of an actual improvement in the U.S.-Russian relationship are feeling the sting of betrayal. (Any comparison to Boris Yeltsin is truly the kiss of death to 98% of Russians, and not one that should warm any American's heart.)

Ex-CIA Officer: Trump Security Adviser Wants to Deter Russia

US President Donald Trump's new national security adviser is on the record as wanting to deter Russia in Europe but is also capable of moderation and original thought, former CIA officer Phil Giraldi told Sputnik.

How Many People Would Die in a War Between the US and Russia?

From the frying pan into the fire.

One does not have to look far to find the people who are heading up the war planning. Yesterday, President Trump appointed Lieutenant General H.R. McMaster, an army strategist, as his new national security advisor.

The selection of McMaster is broadly seen as a concession to Trump’s anti-Russia critics in the political and intelligence establishment. He is the leading figure in an Army project called the Russia New Generation Warfare study, whose participants have made repeated trips to the battlefields of eastern Ukraine to study Russia’s military capabilities and devise strategies and weapons systems to defeat them. McMaster has called on the US to prepare for high-intensity conventional war with Russia, involving not only long-range missile systems and stealth aircraft, but also “close” combat.

Why Do “Progressives” Like War? – Philip Giraldi

Ironically, pursuing a reset with Russia is one of the things that Trump actually gets right but the new left won’t give him a break.

Liberals are supposed to be antiwar, right? I went to college in the 1960s, when students nationwide were rising up in opposition to the Vietnam War.

As I look around now, however, I see something quite different.

The lefties I knew in college are now part of the Establishment and generally speaking are retired limousine liberals. And they now call themselves progressives, of course, because it sounds more educated and sends a better message, implying as it does that troglodytic conservatives are anti-progress. But they also have done a flip on the issue of war and peace.

Democratic Ex-Dove Proposes War on Iran

Rep. Alcee Hastings has sponsored a bill to authorize President Trump to attack Iran. Hastings reintroduced H J Res 10, the “Authorization of Use of Force Against Iran Resolution” on Jan. 3, the first day of the new Congress after President Trump’s election.

Hastings’s bill has come as a shock to constituents and people who have followed his career as a 13-term Democratic Member of Congress from South Florida. Miami Beach resident Michael Gruener called Hastings’s bill, “extraordinarily dangerous,” and asked, “Does Hastings even consider to whom he is giving this authorization?”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have to wonder just how Rep. Hastings feels about having been "purchased" by Israel to do its bidding in Iran.

But I think that he will find that his transformation into a war hawk will not earn him more votes if he runs for re-election, even with massive AIPAC assistance.

Moreover, I am astonished that what he does not understand is that any war with Iran will almost inevitably lead to a war with Russia; perhaps with his future financial security having been "made" through his utter obeisance to Israel, he doesn't really give a damn about his constituents any more.

Because at this point in its history, the American military does not have the weaponry; the troop strength; the manufacturing; or the money to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia.

REX TILLERSON PURGES REMNANTS OF “SHADOW GOVT” AT STATE DEPARTMENT

According to pundits, politicians, and even the executive branch itself, the Trump administration is at war with the so-called “Deep State.” Though the Deep State – sometimes also called the Shadow government – is hard to define, it is essentially the part of the political establishment that are permanent power factions operating within Washington. These factions guide policy according to a unified agenda regardless of who is in office, often exercising their power secretively which frees them of any sort of accountability.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Tillerson and Trump can expect blowback from this, but hopefully, the next time this monster of the American Deep State attempts to rear its ugly head against the current administration, it will have been reasonably neutered to the point where it cannot do great damage against it.

Also, if I am reading this article correctly, this sets the stage for a deeper, more thorough, and more ultimately successful investigation into - and prosecution of - Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The following story broke in September of last year, and if the details are followed through to their logical conclusion, Hillary Clinton may well ultimately be convicted of money laundering via the Clinton Foundation.

HSBC Prosecution Unveils Massive Clinton Money Laundering Scheme

And that whirring sound you're hearing?!? Why, it's a giant shredding farm, in place currently, at the Clinton Foundation, shredding up any possible possible, actionable evidence!

Oh, and BTW, whatever happened to Clinton's IT guru, Bryan Pagliano, who set up her server, the guy who skipped out of testifying after being subpoenaed last year?!?

On the run! Clinton email chief goes AWOL!

This article appeared on 13 September of last year, and no one has seen Mr. Pagliano since.

Given the Clinton Cartel's propensity to silence those who know too much, one of two things may well have happened; he either took shelter in a country with no extradition treaties with the US, or ... he will never be seen again, because he is no longer living.

Wow: Trump names Gen. H.R. McMaster new national security advisor

Wow: Trump names Gen. H.R. McMaster new national security advisor President Trump picked Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, a widely respected military strategist, as his new national security adviser on Monday, calling him “a man of tremendous talent and tremendous experience.”…

General McMaster is seen as one of the Army’s leading intellectuals, first making a name for himself with a searing critique of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for their performance during the Vietnam War and later criticizing the way President George W. Bush’s administration went to war in Iraq.

As a commander, he was credited with demonstrating how a different counterterrorism strategy could defeat insurgents in Iraq, providing the basis for the change in approach that Gen. David H. Petraeus adopted to shift momentum in a war that the United States was on the verge of losing.

Trump’s Watergate All About Drowning Out Russia

Evidently, the big purpose here is to direct Trump to adopt a harder line on Russia and to abandon any notion of developing cordial relations.

The adage about One Man’s Terrorist is Another Man’s Freedom Fighter is aptly paraphrased for the running battle in Washington between President Trump and his intelligence agencies. Only instead of «terrorist» substitute the word «leaker».

Trump has hit back after his National Security Advisor Michael Flynn was forced to resign over disclosed phone contacts he had with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak earlier this year. With barely contained anger, Trump described the leaks as «criminal» and «un-American» and has scorned media outlets for conspiring to destabilize his presidency – only less than one month after taking office.

President Trump: Diplomacy and Democracy in America

Win or lose, the Trump Administration has opened a debate on the possibilities of peace with a nuclear superpower, a re-examination of the huge trade deficit and the necessity to stand-up for democracy against authoritarian threats from the so-called ‘intelligence community’ against an elected President.

By the end of the first month of President Trump’s Administration we are in a better position to evaluate the policies and direction of the new President. An examination of foreign and domestic policy, particularly from a historical and comparative perspective will provide insights about whether America is heading for a catastrophe as the mass media claim or toward greater realism and rationality.

We will proceed by examining whether Trump pursues diplomacy over warfare.

Tulsi Gabbard Versus "Regime Change" Wars

I support Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, going to Syria and meeting with President Bashar al-Assad because the congresswoman is a brave person willing to take criticism for challenging U.S. policies that she believes are wrong.

It is important that we have representatives in our government who will go to countries where the United States is either killing citizens directly by U.S. intervention or indirectly by support of militia groups or by sanctions.

We need representatives to sift through what the U.S. government says and what the media reports to find out for themselves the truth, the shades of truth and the untruths.

We need representatives willing to take the heat from both their fellow members of Congress and from the media pundits who will not go to those areas and talk with those directly affected by U.S. actions. We need representatives who will be our eyes and ears to go to places where most citizens cannot go.

Webmaster's Commentary:

US Navy: Nuke-Capable Submarine Missiles Tested Successfully Off California Coast

Over the past week, the US Navy has revealed that they carried out four test fires in a matter of three days of Trident II nuclear-capable ICBM missiles off the course of California, insisting that all four launches were a success.

The missiles are submarine launched, and designed to carry up to eight nuclear warheads 4,000 nautical miles. The missiles, which were first deployed in 1989, are called Trident because they are meant to be part of a three-way nuclear capacity, including land, sea, and air nuclear weaponry.

Officials insisted, of course, that the missiles were not armed when they were fired, and were carried out at the usual Pacific Test Range. Ohio-class submarines are capable of firing 24 such missiles each, and officials say the tests are commonly conducted.

Trump’s Defense Chief: We’re Not In Iraq To Seize Anybody’s Oil

“I think all of us here in this room, all of us in America have generally paid for our gas and oil all along and I’m sure that we will continue to do so in the future.”

The U.S. military is not in Iraq “to seize anybody’s oil”, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said, distancing himself from remarks by President Donald Trump at the start of a visit to Iraq on Monday.

Mattis, on his first trip to Iraq as Pentagon chief, is hoping to assess the war effort as U.S.-backed Iraqi forces launch a new push to evict Islamic State militants from their remaining stronghold in the city of Mosul.

But he is likely to face questions about Trump’s remarks and actions, including a temporary ban on travel to the United States and for saying America should have seized Iraq’s oil after toppling Saddam Hussein in 2003.

Trump told CIA staff in January: “We should have kept the oil. But okay. Maybe you’ll have another chance.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Sec-Def Mattis, please allow me to educate you as to the origins of the US invasion and occupation of Iraq.

This invasion and occupation of Iraq was purely economic, and done to prevent Iraq's oil to be sold for any other currency than the petrodollar.

Iraq war: the dollar versus the Euro

And so, sir, what do we have in Iraq today?!? We have an absolutely destroyed Iraqi infrastructure, coupled with a completely corrupt US-Centric (and dependent) Iraqi government, and its oil sold only in US dollars.

But that was the point of the exercise, was it not?!? It doesn't have anything to do with "seizing the oil"; it has everything to do with Iraqi oil being sold only in US dollars.

You're welcome, sir!!

Donald Trump’s Shift On Yemen Risks Plunging The Country Into Famine

President Donald Trump may be on the brink of sparking a full-blown famine in Yemen ? all because of a subtle shift in messaging that risks effectively cutting off humanitarian relief to the war-torn nation.

For more than a year, former President Barack Obama’s administration urged a coalition led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates not to attack or seize the critical port of Hodeidah on Yemen’s west coast. The bulk of humanitarian supplies that enter Yemen flow through Hodeidah, and attacking the port, which is controlled by the Houthi rebels, would likely put it out of commission, the Obama administration warned.

But now the coalition, allied with the nominal Yemeni government of President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi, has been redirecting humanitarian and commercial ships carrying food away from the Hodeidah port, relief workers told The Huffington Post. That redirection is itself a major blow to relief efforts. But it could also signal an attack is imminent.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"President Donald Trump may be on the brink of sparking a full-blown famine in Yemen ....."

MAY BE?!? Has whoever wrote this piece of codswallop not been paying attention for the last couple of years, when President Obama signed off on assisting the Saudi assault against Yemen by selling them bombs, and providing guidance for aerial bombing assaults?!?

This is what life looks like for Yemeni children these days:

Images: wounded and murdered children, from Saudi aerial bombing raids

Starvation has been the norm, particularly for Yemeni children, because food aid has been largely closed off by the Saudis at port cities for nearly the last two years. These Yemeni kids now look like this:

Images: starving Yemeni children, 2016

Mr. President, the Saudis have been committing war crimes with impunity every since they attacked the country of Yemen when the Houthi rebels displaced the Al-Hadi government nearly two years ago. The targeting of schools; hospitals; and open air markets, coupled with the assassination of non-combatants, all constitute war crimes, sir.

And yet I see that earlier this month, you signed off on more weapons for both Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, one of the most brutal, tone-deaf and democracy-deprived oppressors of its Shiite majority in the Middle East..

President Trump approves more weapons for Saudi Arabia and Bahrain

Sir, upon this further enabling of the Saudi slaughter in Yemen, which may well be called genocide, and the enabling the Al-Khalifa's monarchy's monstrous repression of its own people, you have demonstrated, perfectly clearly, that you are quite comfortable in the United States being complicit in war crimes, and as a Christian Activist Pacifist, I am a very unhappy witness to this reality.

To be brutally honest, I had expected much better of you, because someone in your administration, with their head on straight, should have counseled you by now that the only solution possible in Yemen at this point has to be political, rather than military.

NORTH KOREA'S REGIME IN JEOPARDY AFTER CHINA BANS ALL COAL IMPORTS

North Korea just lost a very big ally.

On Saturday, China said that it was suspending all imports of coal from North Korea as part of its effort to implement United Nations Security Council sanctions aimed at stopping the country’s nuclear weapons and ballistic-missile program. The ban, according to a statement posted on the website of the Chinese Commerce Ministry, takes effect on today and will last until the end of the year. While China will hardly suffer material adverse impacts, Chinese trade - and aid - have long been a vital economic crutch for North Korea, and the decision strips North Korea of one of its most important sources of foreign currency.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The timing of this economic blow to North Korea is a very clear message to the Trump administration; now is the time to get China, North and South Korea, and the US to the negotiations table to cobble together a peace deal which will guarantee trade, and freedom of movement for North Korea, in exchange for North Korea's ending its nuclear weapons development program forever.

CHAOS at NATO air base after 'MISSILE INBOUND' warning accidentally sent to US airmen

The bright-red test message was only meant to be sent to one person but was instead sent to all wing personnel at Nato’s Spangdahlem Air Base, 100 miles west of Frankfurt.

The message was labelled “high severity" and read: “MISSILE INBOUND. SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Jahn Badham's movie, "Wargames", starting Matthew Broderick, was based on a similar incident. The real event was not triggered by an outside hacker. Someone at Cheyenne Mountain accidentally fed a training simulation tape into the system which made it look like there was a real Russian attack underway. That was one of the many times we came very close to a real nuclear exchange with Russia.

Syria: Supporting Terrorists Causes Refugee Crisis

Syrian President Bashar Assad has told Russian Television (RT) that Europe is not dealing with the cause of the current refugee crisis because they are continuing to support terrorists in Syria who are driving people away.

Feb 19 15:37

FLASHBACK : The Roots of the Refugee Crisis Caused by the West

“The reason so many are fleeing places such as Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, and Iraq is that U.S. and European interventionist foreign policy has left these countries destabilized with no hopes of economic recovery,”explainedformer congressman and three-time presidential contender Ron Paul, a leading voice for a constitutional, non-interventionist U.S. foreign policy. “This mass migration from the Middle East and beyond is a direct result of the neocon foreign policy of regime change, invasion, and pushing ‘democracy’ at the barrel of a gun.”

“Contrary to what one might expect, U.S. military aid doesn’t produce willing, cooperative, or effective security partners. Instead, it incentivizes bad behavior and drives the sources of terrorism: corruption, violence, and poor governance. Unwittingly, this policy is creating its own enemies,” writes Jeremy Ravinsky.

U.S. deploys carrier to contentious South China Sea

The United States deployed aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson to patrol the increasingly contentious South China Sea on Saturday despite Beijing’s warnings not to challenge its sovereignty in the resource-rich sea.

In a statement, the Navy described the launch as the beginning of “routine operations” in the South China Sea. China claims most of the sea as its own, despite overlapping territorial and jurisdictional claims from the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan and Brunei.

On Wednesday, China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang denounced advance news of the deployment at a news conference.

Was this treaty made to ultimately be broken, when allowing it to stand was "inconvenient" for the US government?!?!? Please; let's not go there, gentlemen!!

It appears that these alleged US "Freedom of Navigation" exercises are engineered to provoke China into a military response, as the "excuse" for a military attack against it.

But gentlemen, please hold up a minute; right now, the US military does not have the weaponry; the money; the manufacturing; or the troop strength to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against China.

And if you do not understand this, you, collectively, need your very own "Buddha on the Road" moment, in terms of how our weapons manufacturers think and behave.

The heads of these corporations appear to believe that it is perfectly acceptable to deliver their products so late that by the time they are field-deployed, they are obsolete; these weapons rarely function as advertised; and when they are delivered, they are hugely over budget.

Need I remind both of you of the debacle which has been the F-35?!?

The F-35, amazingly, has even more problems than we thought

President Trump and General Mattis, these issues need to be sorted; and right the hell now.

These provocations against China, at this time, may well result in an outright and spectacular disaster for the American military, until these challenges are met, honestly, and with moral integrity.

‘Blackwater Air’ Is Back, and Flying for U.S. Special Forces

A corporate descendant of the notorious guns-for-hire firm just got a $204 million contract to support American troops in Africa.

A mercenary air force that became a symbol of the U.S. occupation of Iraq is back in action—this time in Central Africa, supporting a shadowy American U.S. Special Forces commando operation targeting the Lord’s Resistance Army.
In late January, a source on the ground in Central African Republic spotted a Sikorsky S-61 helicopter with the registry number N408RC carrying American Special Forces troops.

The LRA, a cultish band of thieves and rapists led by warlord Joseph Kony, is most active in the forested region where Central African Republic, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo meet.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Kony and "The Lord's Resistance Army" are the "good reason" for US troops to find themselves in Africa; the "real reason" the US is in Africa, however, is quite simple; an embarrassment of barely exploited resources, which the US government wants for itself, and its geopolitical cronies.

How German guns often end up in child soldiers' hands

Michael Davies from Sierra Leone was once a child soldier fighting in the civil war-torn west African country. His weapons of choice: German.

“When I had to fight as a young person in Sierra Leone, I saw many G3 rifles,” Davies said in a statement regarding the German-made Heckler & Koch gun.

“Weapon deliveries to conflict regions urgently need to stop. They inflame the conflicts.”

America is No Longer Top Dog: Chinese Military “Reaching Near-Parity” With the West

We’re a wealthy nation with an unbelievably massive military budget. They could never conduct enough scientific research or build enough advanced war machines to compete with us in a conventional war.

Or could they?

It appears that China might be able to. Or at least that’s what the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) thinks. They’re a British think tank that’s been around since 1958, and they have countless members who formerly worked for the British and American governments. The IISS specializes in researching geopolitical issues, and every year they publish the Military Balance report, which examines the military capabilities of the world’s nations. Their latest issue should give the American defense establishment pause.

Insanity of NATO 2.0 for MidEast

If this is to be the new NATO for the Middle East then the world is truly about to descend into barbarism on a scale not seen since the Second World War.

As US President Donald Trump hosts Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu in the White House this week on the agenda is the formation of a “NATO-style” alliance for the Middle East, according to reports.

As if one US-led warmongering alliance in Europe and the North Atlantic were not enough. Now the world will see a clone of NATO let loose on the already conflict-torn Middle East region, if the reported discussions materialize.

European Union as NATO’s Auxiliary Economic Alliance

In a recent interview, Donald Trump has praised Britain for opting out of the European Union and called it a smart move. Moreover, he also said that the NATO military alliance is obsolete and it needs reform. In order to understand his remarks, we should keep in mind that both NATO and EU were conceived during the Cold War to offset the influence of the Soviet Union in Europe. Therefore it is not a coincidence then that the Soviet Union was dissolved in December 1991 and the Maastricht Treaty that further consolidated the European Community and laid the foundations of the European Union was signed in February 1992.

Russian strategic bombers hit ISIS in Raqqa in coordination with Pentagon via ‘deconfliction line’

Interesting! They let Mad Dog know, but they sent a heavy fighter escort to protect the old Bear bombers. ISIS has no AF,but we do!

Russian Tu-95 bombers have struck Islamic State (IS, former ISIS/ISIL) targets in Syria's Raqqa region using X-101 cruise missiles, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement, adding that it informed the US about the operation.

In Syria, the bombers operated under cover of Su-30 and Su-35 fighter jets scrambled from the Khmeimim Airbase in Syria's western Latakia region. The bombers then returned to their bases in Russia, the statement says.

The ministry also said it notified Washington about the strikes in advance using the “de-confliction” hotline.

Reasons Why Michael Flynn Was Fatality #1 in the Trump Presidency Takedown

By Joachim Hagopian
February 17, 2017
Each ideological camp, the Trump/right wing supporters and the Obama-Clinton/left wing supporters, has legions of foot soldiers ready to fight the second civil war. They’ve largely fallen prey to the elite’s divide and conquer trap. The bottom line reality is regardless of who or what party occupies the White House, the same controlling interests that select and finance the two major party candidates are still pulling the puppet strings whichever one is placed in power. In other words, every American president over the last half century has served the diabolical elite, and not the people. And the last president that tried to serve the American people was murdered.

That said, there are real differences between two factions currently operating within deep state America that are battling for upper hand control right now.

US ‘not in a position right now to collaborate’ with Russia militarily - Pentagon chief

As President Donald Trump repeatedly stressed the need to get along with Russia, two of his top Cabinet members were abroad, saying the US is ready not for closer ties until Moscow “proves” its commitment to international agreements.

On Thursday, Secretary of Defense James Mattis said at a NATO meeting in Brussels, Belgium that the US isn’t ready to collaborate militarily with Russia against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) or other threats."Russia's aggressive actions have violated international law and are destabilizing," he added.

Before the US is willing to work with its former Cold War rival, "Russia is going to have to prove itself first," Mattis said. "The point about Russia is they have to live by international law just like we expect all nations on this planet to do."

Former US House of Representatives Member Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) presented an urgent warning to the American people in a Wednesday Fox Business interview regarding the resignation of Michael Flynn from the position of national security advisor after information was leaked about a phone conversation Flynn had with the Russian ambassador to the United States. “At the core” of the intercepting of the then-incoming national security advisor’s phone conversation and the sharing with media of related information by US intelligence officials, Kucinich says, “is an effort by some in the intelligence community to upend any positive relationship between the US and Russia.”

The anti-Flynn ‘deep state’ coup – spelling it out in the clearest way possible

Okay, my sense is that a large number of commentators are misunderstanding the nature of what is going on. So, this time, rather than writing an analysis, I will spell it out, ‘talking points’ – style and, hopefully, do a better job about making my point. So, here we go.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT FLYNN. Let me repeat that once more. THIS IS NOT ABOUT FLYNN!!! Please don’t come and tell me that Flynn was wrong on Iran, on Islam or on China. I agree. But,
==>>THIS IS NOT ABOUT FLYNN!!!<<==
THIS IS ABOUT POWER. As in, who is boss? Who is number one? Who is the alpha dog? The President or the ‘deep state’? That is what this is all about – showing everybody who is in charge.
Whether Trump lacks brains, spine, or balls is anyone’s guess, but it is now painfully clear that he has much more in common with Yanukovich then with Putin.

Feb 15 21:52

A Win for the Deep State

Flynn was in the crosshairs of the War Party because he’s the most prominent of those around Trump who advocated for détente with Russia. Also, his somewhat loopy belief that Islam, per se, is a pernicious political ideology rather than a religion, made him a natural enemy of the pro-Saudi faction within the intelligence community, which had long worked with Riyadh to, among other things, overthrow the government of Syrian strongman Bashar al-Assad.

The Flynn resignation is just the beginning. As one Politico writer put it, it won’t stop there. They’ll move on to new targets, and they won’t rest until they’ve bagged their real target: the President of the United States

This isn’t about Mike Flynn. It isn’t even about Trump. It’s about the future of our republic. Will we allow rogue national security officials to run rampant and utilize police state methods to advance their policy goals? If the answer is yes, then we’re doomed.

COMING SOON TO A CITY NEAR YOU: THE U.S. MILITARY’S PLAN TO TAKE OVER AMERICA

“Our current and past strategies can no longer hold. We are facing environments that the masters of war never foresaw. We are facing a threat that requires us to redefine doctrine and the force in radically new and different ways. The future army will confront a highly sophisticated urban-centric threat that will require that urban operations become the core requirement for the future land-force. The threat is clear. Our direction remains to be defined. The future is urban.”— “Megacities: Urban Future, the Emerging Complexity,” a Pentagon training video created by the Army for U.S. Special Operations Command
The U.S. military plans to take over America by 2030.

FLASHBACK - MAJESTIC MEMORIES

Looking back on that time, while the US Government declared political victory in the war, and the "Captains of Industry" grew rich turning looted war material into corporations that could hardly fail in competing with nations whose industrial bases had been bombed into rubble, I recognize that the town I grew up in had been defeated in that war. It had been eviscerated. It had had its very heart cut out of it; a gaping hole that never healed, but could only in time be forgotten.

The government may declare victory in wars started in foreign lands, but for the people who live in small towns in this land the results are barely distinguishable from defeat. Lives are lost, families destroyed, futures shattered, hopes ruined; all this is the price paid by the people for the "foreign entanglements" we were long ago warned to avoid. The real price of war is paid not just by those who died in it, but by those who are left behind who bury their dead and pay the bills.

A Time Of Great Uncertainty: “There Is A Tremendous Amount Of Volatility In Eastern Europe Politically, Economically, and Militarily”

There is a tremendous amount of volatility in Eastern Europe politically, economically, and militarily. The volatility translates into tremendous shifts in these areas: nations of Eastern Europe are shifting toward either the American/NATO axis or toward stronger alliances with Russia. Although the election of President Trump has the potential to make a total reset with Russia and promises stronger inroads of cooperation between him and Vladimir Putin, there are still some “sore spots” that may hinder that progress.

One of those “sore spots” is named John McCain, Republican Senator of Arizona. Rather than a renewed spirit of détente between the U.S. and Russia, McCain desires nothing more than to start a war with her. Let us first examine some of the major nations in-between: those caught between the U.S. and Russia, yet forced to pick a side, although all have not completely decided.

Pentagon Caught Peddling Fake News About Airstrikes

Trump’s Foreign Policy at a Crossroads

By Robert Parry

If you wanted to bring sanity to a U.S. foreign policy that has spun crazily out of control, there would be some immediate steps that you – or, say, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson – could take, starting with a renewed commitment to tell the truth to the American people.

If you wanted to base U.S. foreign policy on the firm foundation of reality, you also could let the American people in on who is actually the principal sponsor of the terrorism that they’re concerned about: Al Qaeda, Islamic State, the Taliban – all Sunni-led outfits, none of which are backed by Shiite-ruled Iran. Yet, all we hear from Official Washington’s political and media insiders is that Iran is the chief sponsor of terrorism.

CIA honors Saudi crown prince with 'George Tenet Medal'

The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has honored Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef with its prestigious “George Tenet Medal” for his "intelligence work in the fight against terrorism."

The medal was handed to Nayef, who is deputy prime minister and minister of interior, by CIA Director Micheal Pompeo on Friday during a reception ceremony in Riyadh.

Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, second deputy premier and minister of defense, and several other senior Saudi officials were also in attendance.

In a statement after receiving the medal, Nayef said he appreciated the CIA honor and framed it as a recognition of what he called Saudi Arabia’s anti-terrorism efforts under the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

“Saudi Arabia rejects and denounces strongly terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” the crown prince was quoted as saying by the Saudi media.

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK, overwhelming nausea just started to hit, upon reading this.

And you have to appreciate the absolute, extreme irony and hypocrisy of the Saudi Crown Prince's statement that "Saudi Arabia rejects and denounces strongly terrorism in all its forms and manifestations."

What about the Saudi crackdown against peaceful political activists?!?

Rights groups slam Saudi Arabia for cracking down on activists

What about the war crimes the Saudi military is committing in Yemen, enabled by the US Government?!?

Images: wounded and killed children, from Saudi air strikes in Yemen

Images:starving Yemeni children, courtesy of Saudi military blocking Yemen ports

Apparently, CIA Director Pompeo is delighted to award this medal to a war criminal country, and its war criminal ruling family.

When it comes to geopolitics...the US government knows its own.

However, it is utterly no surprise, as the US government has been complicit in war crimes for going on decades now, and will continue to do so, unless it is stopped, either by complete financial meltdown, or by a war it finds itself incapable of winning.

That is simply the reality in which we live right now.

That’s when neocon ideology caused Washington to wreak murderous high-tech military destruction on much of the greater middle east – from Kabul to Tripoli – and then to justify it with an utterly spurious theory of moral superiority.

Any nation that has inflicted the pointless and wanton destruction that is evident in the Pashtun homelands of Afghanistan, the rubble that remains in Anbar Province of Iraq or the wreckage of Aleppo and Benghazi is not exceptional at all; it has blood on its hands like few empires that went before.

So after Donald Trump by inadvertence or honesty, as the case my be, stated the obvious, Imperial Washington came down on his head with rhetorical guns blazing. The archetypical expression came for the Wall Street Journal‘s insufferable neocon warmonger, Bret Stephens, who tweeted,

Webmaster's Commentary:

Wars are simply about corporate and banking profits; it is just that simple.

While the US government and their kept presstitutes prattle on about "glory, honor, bravery, and protecting the American way of life and Democracy" through these wars as their justifications for them, the US government uses these wars to expropriate resources to which it has no moral right; attempts to insure that the rulers of those countries are "western-Centric"(generally after a bloody coup, as happened with Qaddafi); and that those resources are only sold for US dollars.

This is a very clear pattern.

And the military who are killed or maimed for life in these wars are considered "collateral damage" by the very institutions which are enriched by their fighting, and should they survive, but become mentally and/or physically damaged through the process of fighting, are then discarded as "irrelevant", the moment they can no longer wield their weapons.

Just take a good, hard look at what is continuing to happen with our Vets right now: this...is also... a very clear pattern.

Trump: Iran’s Rouhani ‘Better Be Careful’ in Comments

Continuing his ratcheting up of tensions with Iran, President Trump today responded to quotes by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who had warned that people who approach Iran with “the language of threats” would come to regret doing so.

Trump responded to the report by declaring that Rouhani “better be careful” about what he says. Trump has previously announced Iran to be “on notice,” and insisted he would not rule out military action against Iran in the future.

The Trump Administration began picking up anti-Iran rhetoric two weeks ago, following an Iranian test of a medium-range ballistic missile. US officials initially suggested the test might have been a violation of a UN resolution, though this ultimately was not the case.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to President Trump; sir, was this statement an attempt to get get the Iranian government to back of dropping the use of the US dollar in trade on 21 March?!?

Because if not, the timing of your escalation in your rhetoric against Iran....is utterly, and amazingly, lousy.

And just in case Sec Def Mattis hasn't clued you in, the reason I am making this observation is that should there be a US military attack against Iran, Russia is most likely to assist them militarily.

And right now, the US military does not have the weaponry; the troop strength; the money; or the manufacturing to ensure a successful outcome to a war against both Iran and Russia.

I would therefore like to politely suggest that you cool the rhetoric until such time as this situation can be remedied; otherwise, you may be signing a collective death sentence to our men and women in uniform by throwing them into military hostilities with which they may well be unable to cope immediately.

And if no one on your team has had the intestinal fortitude to mention this to you, I felt I compelled to do so.

The Russians and Chinese don't spend anywhere near as much on their weapons as does the US government, but they are getting far better "bang" for their weaponry bucks, quite literally.

The corporate heads of weapons manufacturing companies here in the US think it is perfectly fine to deliver their products so behind schedule as to be obsolete, upon field delivery; this equipment rarely functions as promised (just think the debacle which is the F-35); and cost overruns into the millions of dollars are simply normal.

This, sir, has to change, and quickly.

As a Christian pacifist activist, who never advocates violence, I would much rather my government achieve its geopolitical goals by hard-won, good-faith, ethical negotiations.

But if a decision is made by this government to wage war, our men and women in uniform deserve, and must have, the best possible weapons equipment, delivered on-time, completely functional, and done without massive cost over-runs, which US taxpayers have to pay.

Iran pledges missile retaliation to 'confront' US warning 'DARK DAYS' ahead for Trump

Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei sneered at Trump's threats over Iran's nuclear programme after the Middle Eastern power fired a missile last week.

Trump had warned Iran was "on notice" and "playing with fire" but Tehran is continuing its missile drills – firing another weapon on Sunday.

Tehran has now warned the US and Iran have "dark days ahead" as thousands flooded the streets with banners reading "Down with USA".

Earlier this week Khamenei struck back after a meeting with his military leaders and promised the nation is planning to respond to mark today's anniversary of the Iran's revolution in 1979.

Since then Trump's administration has threatened to blacklist Iran's elite military force the Revolutionary Guard as terrorists as tensions continue to brew.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to President "The Art of the Deal" Trump: I hope to heck that you've got Vlad (the non-impaler) Putin's direct cell number on speed-dial right now.

And I say that because, if you ever needed a partner in de-escalating this situation with Iran, through quiet, back-channel negotiations, it is right the darned heck now!!

Any outright attack against Iran will almost inevitably get Russia involved, militarily, on Iran 's side, and the US military does not have the weaponry, the money, the manufacturing, or the troop strength to insure a positive outcome to a war against Russia right now.

Its Foreign Greed And Delusion That Kills Yemeni Children

Ten-thousands, and soon hundred-thousands die in Yemen as result of zealotry, greed and bureaucratic infighting of foreign countries. The Wahhabi Saudis fight in Yemen against Iranian Shia that ain’t there. Under the eyes of the CIA they nurture local al-Qaeda forces to do their bidding. The UAE seeks new ports in Yemen thereby disturbing Saudi pipeline dreams.

The Pentagon tussles with the CIA over budgets of special operations. The minor local Yemeni conflicts between the various tribes develop into a war due to foreign interference and financing. Bombing campaigns have replaced tribal mediation.

The executive branch of the United Nations is under pressure from the U.S.-Saudi coalition. It is not allowed to report on the real consequences of the devastating war on Yemen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

the Saudi military have been conducting a scorched earth campaign in Yemen, and committing war crimes and atrocities with impunity in this beleaguered, desperately poor country, whose only collective "sin" was kicking out the western-centric "puppet", Mansour Al-Hadi.

Children, women, the medically fragile and elderly are being gleefully slaughtered by the Saudi military, in numbers that absolutely constitute a genocide against the Yemeni people. Infrastructure is being destroyed daily.

And unfortunately, the US is complicit in these war crimes, because they are providing targeting, and selling the Saudis the missiles used in these air strikes. Just yesterday, President Trump approved of weapons sales to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia:

President Trump approves of weapons sales to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia

This is what the views on the ground look like in Yemen: and yes, I will warn you that these are the most graphically gruesome I could find, because American citizens need to know what US foreign policy is "accomplishing" in Yemen.

Images: wounded and killed children from Saudi bombing raids

Images: starving Yemeni children due to Saudi port blockade

We the People need to have a national conversation about this conflict, and put pressure on the White House (and Saudi Arabia) to commit to resolving this issue diplomatically, because at the end of the day, it is only a diplomatic solution which will end this ongoing tragedy.

Strategy to 'destroy' North Korea missiles to be applied during exercises

A bilateral U.S.-South Korea strategy to detect, defend, disrupt and destroy North Korea missiles, also known as 4D, is to be applied to the upcoming Key Resolve joint military exercises.

The 4D operations, jointly approved in November 2015, were first employed in drills in 2016.

In March, the strategy is to become more "concrete," according to Yonhap news agency.

The Command Post Exercises are to simulate a full-scale war scenario that assumes the deployment and readiness of THAAD, the U.S. missile defense system, at its designated location in central South Korea.

This year's Key Resolve exercises are expected to be the largest on record.

Details of strengthening the Key Resolve and Foal Eagle exercises were discussed during recent talks between U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis and his Seoul counterpart Han Min-koo, a Seoul defense official told Yonhap.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but I am having a palm-to-face moment, at warp speed upon reading this.

I do have a memo for both the US and South Korean governments; such exercises, as those described in this article, are simply going to push Kim Jung-Un to accelerate his drive for guideable, nuclear weapons.

IF both countries want to reduce this possibility, what you need to do is obtain China's cooperation in getting the North Korean government to the conference table to create a peace deal, with guarantees on trade, to replace the armistice, in exchange for the North Korean military ending their nuclear weapons program.

These exercises are likely to make an already more than slightly mentally unhinged Kim Jung-Un go ballistic...literally.

There were days when the US government understood how to do intelligent, smart negotiations to get what they wanted. If what the Trump administration wants is for North Korea to end its nuclear weapons program, an intelligently
negotiated deal is the only answer here; not more military belligerence, by way of these exercises.

NATO allies lock in U.S. support for stand-off with Russia

Immediately after Donald Trump was elected, U.S. diplomats urged Lithuania to rush through an agreement to keep American troops on its soil, reflecting alarm that the new, Russia-friendly U.S. president might try to stop more deployments in Europe.

The agreement was signed just a few days before Trump's inauguration, according to a document from the Lithuanian defense ministry, and became the first step locking the new U.S. president into a NATO strategy to deter Russia in Poland and the Baltics, following Moscow's 2014 annexation of Crimea.

European allies are growing confident that, with the arrival of U.S. troops in Poland, plans ordered by Barack Obama will hold. They are reassured by Trump's remarks to U.S. forces in Florida this week, when he said: "We strongly support NATO."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Reuters is pathologically incapable of stopping lying about the alleged "Russian annexation" of Crimea, which actually never took place.

So again, I consider it my great pleasure to educate Robin Emmott and Andrius Sytas , the auteurs of this piece of codswallop, as to what actually happened.

Apparently, this "historically deviant duo" have a bad case of SMD (selective memory disorder) regarding the events of spring, 2014, when the duly elected President of Ukraine, Yanukovych, was thrown under the proverbial bus in a US/NATO/IMF-sponsored putsch, and Poroshenko was "anointed" as president in an election more crooked than a dog's hind leg. President Obama admitted the US role in Ukrainian regime change, as documented in the following article.

Washington Was Behind Ukraine Coup: Obama admits that US “Brokered a Deal” in Support of “Regime Change”

Apparently, the writers of this article are painfully ignorant of this reality, or have an agenda to attempt to sell their readers.

Also, they seem to have "forgotten" how Victoria Nuland, under-secretary of state in the Obama Administration, bragged about how much money had been spent to regime-change Ukraine:

Victoria Nuland Admits: US Has Invested $5 Billion In The Development of Ukrainian, "Democratic Institutions"

Sorry, folks; in looking at this presentation, you cannot "unsee" it!!

Additionally, Ms. Nuland further thoroughly embarrassed herself, and the US government with the following, now-infamous "F**k the EU declaration:

Ukraine crisis: Transcript of leaked Nuland-Pyatt call

Post-putsch, the Crimean officials understood that there was no legitimate government in Kiev, so they took the following two steps.

First, in a globally-recognised free and fair referendum, they asked the Crimean people is they wanted to stay with Ukraine post-putsch, or petition the Russian Federation for Crimea to join it.

In an overwhelming decision, the Crimean people voted to petition the Russian Federation to join it.

Crimeans vote overwhelmingly to leave Ukraine, and petition the Russian federation to join it.

The Russian Federation then accepted Crimea as a member-state.

But in the thinking of both the US and Ukraine, "peaceful self-determination", as enshrined in the UN Charter, cannot possibly exist for the Crimeans, so used these decisions by the Crimean people, post-putsch, to declare that Russia had "annexed" Crimea, which never, ever actually happened.

I really hope and pray that President Trump has the smarts to realize that Russia isn't going to invade the Baltic States - or anyone else, unless really, really provoked. But there are those in NATO who appear to be hell-bent to start a war with Russia, and Russia has responded to the NATO buildup asymmetrically:

US sends special forces to RUSSIAN BORDER as NATO is poised to strike back against Vladimir Putin’s ‘aggression’ Russia is reportedly deploying nuke-ready missiles in the province of Kaliningrad which borders Lithuania

Let us all hope and pray that President Trump has the horse-sense to realize that a NATO/RUSSIAN war would be a really terrible idea, and bring this situation back from the brink.

The US government should be supporting NATO only to the point where NATO is supporting the US and its people, period, end of discussion.

Iran Hawks Take the White House

The United States is adding new sanctions on Iran over that country’s alleged misdeeds, and nearly all of those allegations are either out-and-out lies or half-truths. It has a familiar ring to it, as demonizing Tehran has been rather more the norm than not since 1979, a phenomenon that has included fabricated claims that the Iranians killed American soldiers after the U.S.’s armed interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq. This time around, the administration focused on the perfectly legal Iranian test of a non-nuclear-capable, medium-range ballistic missile and the reported attack on what was initially claimed to be a U.S. warship by allegedly Iranian-backed Yemeni Houthi fighters. The ship was later revealed to be a Saudi frigate.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The reality that such a move would be one of the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid things this administration could do, unfortunately, is utterly no guarantee that they will not do it.

Because such a military action against Iran would almost certainly guarantee that Russia would come in on the side of Iran against the US.

And at this moment in its history, the US military doesn't have the weaponry; the money; the troop strength; or the manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a war against Russia.

And the weaponry issue is a big one. Both Russia and China spend far less on their weaponry, but within the last decade, have been coming up with amazing feats of weaponry engineering.

Unfortunately, here in the US, the collective weapons executive culture believes it is perfectly fine to create weapons which are obsolete upon field delivery; that do not operate as advertised; and cost wildly over original budget estimates.

That has to change, and quickly.

But I'm a bit lost on what Flynn is characterising as "...Iran’s hostile and belligerent actions toward the United States and the world community."

What, precisely, has Iran done, please, to inflame the General's ire?!?

Is it that the standard of living has improved over 67% since the ousting of the US puppet, the Shah or Iran?

36 years after the revolution, where is Iran now?

Is it perchance that Iran's science and engineering students are overwhelmingly female?

How did Iran manage to get 70% of its engineering and science graduates to be women?

Is it that its health care is rated the 30th most efficient health care systems in the world?!?

Health Care in Iran

Is it that Iran has informed the US that it will drop the dollar in its oil trade as of the 21st of next month?!?

Iran will officially ditch the dollar as of 21 March, 2017

BINGO!!!

I don't know what odds the Vegas bookies are taking on their being some kind of an "incident/false flag" happening before that date, as the excuse for attacking Iran; but if I were a betting woman, I would not bet against it.

The Warlords of Kiev

The warlords of Kiev are going on the offensive, violating the terms of the Minsk peace accords, and attacking separatist rebels in the eastern part of the country in a desperate bid to provoke open conflict with Russia. What motivates them is fear of President Donald Trump, who has often expressed a desire to “get along with Russia” and who has openly said Ukraine is not a vital US national security interest. What motivates their new aggression is the possibility that the US subsidies that have kept their vicious war on their own people going – 10,000 killed so far – will dry up.

Ever since US and European Union-backed shock troops overthrew the democratically elected government of President Viktor Yanukovych, the coup leaders in Kiev have waged a relentless war against their rebellious subjects in the east.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It was originally and widely believed by members of the Obama administration, that supporting Ukraine, post the US/IMF/EU-generated putsch in 2014, would destabilize Russia; precisely the opposite has occurred, and Russia is infinitely stronger now, economically, than it was before this happened.

It is high time for the US government to cut its losses, and allow Poroshenko's Ukraine to collapse under the weight of its own corruption.

Trump Nixes Elliott Abrams for State Dept. Job

Despite a media campaign trying to offload neoconservative Elliott Abrams onto the Trump administration, and considerable pressure from within the cabinet to appoint him Deputy Secretary of State, President Trump has decided against including the controversial interventionist and Iraq war supporter in his administration.

Like virtually all of his fellow neoconservatives, Abrams disdained Trump’s unwillingness to kowtow to our alleged "allies" and sneered at him for his supposed "ignorance."

Media accounts – see here and here – attribute this to Trump being "thin-skinned" – Abrams was highly critical of Trump during the presidential campaign, as I pointed out on Twitter. But this is a remarkably superficial analysis of what really went on, for Abrams’ critique of Trump was that of a globalist who is unalterably opposed to Trump’s "America First" foreign policy views.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is definitely cause for a (small, microscopic) sigh of relief!!

Saudi Arabia Intensifies Crackdown on Writers, Activists - HRW

HRW said that Saudi Arabia stepped up arrests, prosecutions, and convictions of peaceful dissident writers and human rights advocates in 2017.

Saudi Arabia stepped up arrests, prosecutions, and convictions of peaceful dissident writers and human rights advocates in 2017, the US-based advocacy group Human Rights Watch (HRW) said in a press release.
“Saudi Arabia is trying to silence and lock away anyone who doesn’t toe the official line or dares to express an independent view on politics, religion, or human rights,” HRW Middle East Director Sarah Whitson stated in the release on Monday.

In January, a Saudi court sentenced two prominent activists to long jail terms, accusing them of being in contact with international media and human rights organizations. The authorities jailed two others, one of whom remains in detention while under investigation.

U.S. General Seeks ‘a Few Thousand’ More Troops in Afghanistan

The commander of the American-led international military force in Afghanistan, warning that the United States and its NATO allies are facing a “stalemate,” told Congress on Thursday that he needed a few thousand additional troops to more effectively train and advise Afghan soldiers.

“We have a shortfall of a few thousand,” Gen. John W. Nicholson said in a sober assessment of America’s longest war to the Senate Armed Services Committee .

The international force that is helping the Afghans currently has 13,300 troops, 8,400 of whom are American.

Afghan forces have taken heavy casualties over the last year as they have sought to hold off the Taliban and prevent them from capturing provincial capitals.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to General Wilkerson and President Trump: gentlemen, how long has the US government and NATO "occupied" Afghanistan?!?

15 years and counting.

And by what military metric, please, has this occupation been a "success"?!?

Absolutely none.

So I, and the rest of the American people have to ask; what is the real reason to continue this occupation, which shows utterly no signs of resolving in the favor of the US and NATO?!?

Absolutely none.

Afghanistan is not called "the graveyard of empires" for no good reason; the Brits found that out; so did the Russians; and now, the Americans and NATO are discovering that for themselves, and very uncomfortably, I might add.

"Magical thinking", coupled with a pathological inability to see any scenario through to its logical conclusion, is the absolute death-knell for any intelligent foreign policy, and gentlemen, we are there, right the heck now, in this ham-fisted, pig-headed occupation of Afghanistan, which was doomed to failure from the start.

So, what is to be done?!?

The US and NATO should be evacuating their troops from this country as rapidly as is safely possible, and then the US and NATO should be negotiating with whatever government is left standing in Kabul for the pipeline rights (which is originally what this was all about), plus access to Afghanistan's embarrassment of natural resources.

Of course, all of this...would be logical.

President Bush's administration, plus elements at UNOCAL attempted to negotiate with the Taliban before 9/11, but thought the prices quoted were "too high", threatened an invasion, and suddenly, "out of no where", 9/11 happened as the "excuse" for an invasion of Afghanistan.

It was all about the pipeline routes and natural resources all along.

SAUDI LOBBYISTS RECRUITING VETERANS TO KILL 9/11 LAWSUIT

Using misinformation and lots of cash, Saudi Arabia is luring well-meaning U.S. military veterans into its campaign to eviscerate a recently-passed law allowing 9/11 families to sue the monarchy for its alleged role in facilitating the attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people.

It’s a brazen effort, considering 9/11 inspired so many veterans to enter military service. However, working through hired American proxies who don’t draw attention to their Saudi sponsorship, the kingdom is finding success by taking advantage of veterans’ patriotic instincts.

Specifically, lobbyists are telling veterans that, if other countries reciprocate by passing laws like the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA), military service members and veterans will be sued in foreign courts.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is so completely morally ill and vile that I almost do not know where to begin.

But then, it is perfectly predictable from a sclerotic monarchy/dictatorship which so staunchly defends, and believes in, the moral rightness of its genocide and war crimes in Yemen, in which, unfortunately, the US government is a proud participant.

History will not judge the House of Saud kindly on these actions.

RUSSIAN AIRSTRIKE ACCIDENTALLY KILLS THREE TURKISH SOLDIERS IN SYRIA

A Russian airstrike accidentally killed three Turkish soldiers and wounded 11 others during an operation against the Islamic State in northern Syria on Thursday morning, Turkey's military said in a statement and Moscow confirmed. The head of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, said the warplanes were targeting Islamic State sites in the al-Bab area.

Whether indeed "accidental", or payback for the downing of a Russian jet over the Turkish-Syrian border in November 2015 is unclear, but according to Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences over the accidental loss of life in the airstrike, in a phone call with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan,

Essential context about Trump’s refugee ban – Made in Israel

President Trump has issued an executive order suspending entry to the U.S for people from Iraq, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Iran, and Yemen (the order is called “Protecting the Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into the United States”). These same countries were the focus of the “Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015” under President Obama.

While reports on Trump’s ban emphasize that these are Muslim majority countries, analysts seem to have ignored another significant characteristic that these countries share.

With just a single exception, all of these countries were targeted for attack by certain top U.S. officials in 2001. In fact, that policy had roots that went back to 1996, 1991, 1980, and even the 1950s. Below, we will trace this policy back in time and examine its goals and proponents.

Eastern Europe & World War III

Europe could become the site of a new global war in the East as tensions build there against refugees and the economic decline fosters old wounds. The EU is deeply divided over the refugee issue and thus it is fueling its own demise and has failed to be a stabilizing force.

Civil War Is Coming to the U.S.: “Left WILL Resort To Large Scale Violence… To Stop Fascism”

Editor’s Comment: The situation is becoming desperate. Perhaps Trump was meant merely to distract Americans, or perhaps he is doing exactly what is expected of him – by those who placed him in power. Either way, the country is bitterly divided along partisan lines. Many of the most important principles have been abandoned for a cultural war that isn’t likely to stop, or die down, but rather to explode in the volley back and forth between left wing and progressive opponents, and alt right and conservative factions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How does the government expect to fight a civil war and a world war at the same time?

ALL WARS ARE BANKERS' WARS!

I know many people have a great deal of difficulty comprehending just how many wars are started for no other purpose than to force private central banks onto nations, so let me share a few examples, so that you understand why the US Government is mired in so many wars against so many foreign nations. There is ample precedent for this.

Webmaster's Commentary:

TIME FOR A REPOST! Iran announces they are dropping the US dollar, and immediately there is a ratcheting up of calls for war on Iran. The link between private central bankers and wars does not get more obvious than this!

Russia Mobilizes S-400 Missiles Systems Near Moscow To "Test Readiness Against A Possible Attack"

One month ago we reported that Russia had deployed S-400 air defense missile systems in proximity to Moscow, which were then put on combat duty. “The SAM combat squads of the Moscow Region aerospace forces have put the new S-400 Triumph air defense missile system into service, and have gone on combat duty for the air defense of Moscow and the central industrial region of Russia,” the Defense Ministry’s Department of Information and Mass Communication told Interfax in early January.

NATO Battalion Arrives in Lithuania in Anti-Russia Buildup

A NATO battalion of some 1,000 ground troops, led by German forces, has arrived in Lithuania as the first of a series of such deployments as part of the continued anti-Russia buildup in the Baltic states, with officials saying it is meant to assure the nations there of NATO’s military commitment.

Poland Seeks Massive Nuclear Weapons Arsenal for EU

In what would serve as the launching of the biggest arms race in generations, Polish ruling party leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski is urging the European Union to embark on a process of massive-scale nuclear armament, insisting the union needs to be a “superpower” with a nuclear arsenal on par with Russia’s, the largest in the world.

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION APPARENTLY HEADING FOR WAR AS IRAN DUMPS U.S. DOLLAR

While many were hoping against all odds that a Trump administration would live up to some of its campaign rhetoric and begin to back away from imperialistic foreign adventures, it seems those hopes are being dashed by the day as Trump and his team are giving every indication that they are moving toward war with Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to President Trump:

Mr. President, I am begging you to listen to me; such a war is apt to go very badly for the US government and its allies.

It appears, and I am very concerned if this in fact is true, that your Administration has taken a page from the following Brookings Institute report:

WHICH PATH TO PERSIA?

In it, the suggestion is made to give Iran a real "sweetheart deal" (as happened with the P5+1 and President Obama), then make the Iranian government look "ungrateful" for the deal they have been given, as a pretext for war against it.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, and even in one today, should the US attack Iran, the Iranian government will most likely get extensive military aid from Russia.

And the US military does not have the weaponry; the money; the manufacturing; or the troop strength to insure a successful outcome to war against Russia and/or China.

President Trump, please don't get fooled by the people who want this war, many times because they will profit economically from such a war. Please remember that it is only the President who has to put his affairs into a blind trust, upon accepting the position of President; the rest of any cabinet members can make a killing (both literally and figuratively) by investing in the military/industrial complex.

Banks also love wars, as all sides borrow - at huge interest rates - to keep the war machines going, and to rebuild afterward.

I am hoping and praying that this is simply a strategy to get the P5+1 deal renegotiated; otherwise, God help this country, lurching into what may well be an unwinnable war that never should have been fought in the first place.

US AND OTHER GLOBAL POWERS CONDUCT WAR GAMES 50 MILES OFF IRAN’S COAST

As U.S. tensions with Iran rose last week, 17 ships from the United States, United Kingdom, France, and Australia launched a major war game just 50 miles from the Iranian coast.
Smack dab in the middle of the gulf, the ships steamed together in wedge formation in the first iteration of the exercise dubbed “Unified Trident.”

HMS Ocean, a British amphibious assault ship carrying about 750 personnel, 150 of them Royal Marines, led the way.

About 500 yards behind was the French destroyer FS Forbin, and about 500 yards behind was the U.S. destroyer USS Mahan. Another 500 yards behind was the Australian destroyer HMAS Arunta. Each carried about 300 sailors.

Another destroyer, an Aegis cruiser, a supply ship, mine sweepers, patrol boats, and Coast Guard cutters made up the flanks.

The ships cast dark gray silhouettes against a light gray sky and a bluish-gray sea, which was fairly calm, though the winds started to pick up.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are those in the deep state in the US who feverishly want war against Iran, and one can see that playing out on Fox this morning, where they are commenting that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei insulted President Trump yesterday by describing him as "The newcomer" (I wish I had a friend who speaks Farsi, who could tell me precisely what the guy said).

I would like to hope that President Trump will proceed with absolute caution regarding Iran.

Because a war against Iran will almost certainly involve Russia coming to its aid militarily. And I hope that President Trump clearly understands how completely, and woefully, unprepared the US military is to fight and win a war against Russia.

At this point in its history, the US military doesn't have the weaponry, the money, the troop strength, or the manufacturing to have a positive outcome even to a conventional war.

And the weaponry issue is huge. Many times, after equipment is delivered to our troops, it is delivered so late as to be obsolete; not performing as promised, and hideously over budget. The culture of American weapons manufacturers needs to change, and rapidly, if these issues are to be intelligently addressed.

But far ahead of any potential military hostilities I hope that the US, Russia, China, and Iran can negotiate their differences with morally clean, honest negotiations which will give all of these countries something significant to take home with them.

As a Christian pacifist activist, this is what I exhort the US government to do consistently.

And selfishly, Tehran is absolutely on my "bucket list" of places I would love to see, for the history; the art; the music; and the food, and to let the Iranian people know that Americans don't hate them, but that the US government can REALLY hold a grudge for the fact they ousted it's puppet, the Shah of Iran, in 1979.

MAPPING THE WAR MACHINE

What follows are two dozen pictures mapping war and militarism and the struggle for peace overlaid on a global image of nations. These are drawn from — and you can create your own with — an online tool for mapping militarism published by World Beyond War at bit.ly/mappingmilitarism. This tool has just been updated with new data. On many of the maps at that link, unlike with the static images that follow, you can scroll back in time to see changes over recent years.

By laying some important facts about war on the map, we’re able to recognize some ideas that rarely make it into prose. Here are a few examples:

The war in Afghanistan and the foreign occupation of Afghanistan have officially ended, but a map of the nations with troops still occupying Afghanistan still looks like NATO colonialism.

Amnesty International “Human Slaughterhouse” Report Lacks Evidence, Credibility, Reeks Of State Department Propaganda

By Brandon Turbeville

In yet another act of “convenient” timing, Amnesty International has released a bombshell report alleging the execution by hanging of 13,000 Syrian prisoners by the Syrian government from 2011-2015. The report, “Human Slaughterhouse: Mass Hangings And Extermination At Saydnaya Prison, Syria,” which contains rather detailed descriptions of torture, rape, and execution as well as other horrific activity has no doubt caught the attention of many people, even those who have followed the events transpiring in Syria for the last six years. However, there is one important aspect of the report that Amnesty International lacks . . . evidence...

Yemen Withdraws Permission for US Ground Operations

Trump is now a killer of children. The man is losing support fast and by the day with his neocon cabinet and talk of war. Let us see if the Soros sponsored snowflakes step up their violence, which always seems to bring more support to Trump.

The Trump Administration’s claims that a January 29 ground raid in Yemen was a “success” appear to be on increasingly flimsy ground, with the Yemeni government today announcing it has revoked permission for all future US ground operations on their soil.
