All you need to know about latest Saudi crackdown in 500 words

Saudi Arabia has launched a new crackdown against senior royals and top officials, according to several reports, in what appears to be Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's latest effort to consolidate control of all major levers of power inside the kingdom.

Among those held in the sweeping crackdown are two of the most prominent royal family members: Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz, a younger brother of Saudi King Salman, and Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, the king's nephew and former crown prince.

Profile: Former Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef
There has been no official comment from Saudi authorities on the arrests, but reports emerging on Friday triggered rumours about a possible coup attempt or sudden deterioration in the health of the 84-year-old king.

Here is what happened:

Webmaster's Commentary:

We have a companion piece, also in antiwar.com, with the following headline:

Saudi princes' detentions sent a message: don't block my path to the throne

the article went on to state: " Saudi Arabia’s crown prince meant to send a strong message to critics within the royal family by detaining senior princes this weekend: Don’t you dare oppose my succession to the throne. The main target in the crackdown, sources said, is King Salman’s brother, Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz, one of only three members of the Allegiance Council, the royal body that endorses the line of succession, to oppose Mohammed bin Salman becoming crown prince in 2017 in a palace coup."

Pro-Israel Super PAC endorses Joe Biden for president

Democratic Majority for Israel says Biden has a proven record to fight for a strong US-Israeli relationship.

A pro-Israel Democratic super PAC has endorsed Joe Biden for president, underscoring growing antagonism towards Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders among Israel's advocates in the United States.

The endorsement by the Democratic Majority for Israel (DMFI) - which is linked to AIPAC - comes a day ahead of a crucial round of primaries, after Biden took the lead in what has become a two-candidate race for the Democratic nomination.

"As senator and vice president, Joe Biden has proven he will fight for Democrats' broad vision for America, including a strong US-Israeli relationship," DMFI president and founder Mark Mellman, who is a prominent AIPAC strategist, said in a statement on Monday.

IF the US government is not careful, it may find itself defending Israel in wars against neighborhood actors, like Iran, which Israel may well generate, understanding that it has the whole support of the nation-state of the US behind it, even if Russia has Iran's back, both geopolitically, and militarily.

Most Americans Unaware of Largest US War Game in Europe in 25 Years

99.9 percent of citizens of the United States have no clue that the new “Cold War” against Russia is manifesting in the largest U.S. military war practice in Europe than in more than 25 years.

In an effort to generate US national support and publicity for the revival of the Cold War, US military units will come from 15 US states, including important electoral states of Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia.

In an effort to spend all the money allocated to the US military, over $680 billion for 2020, 20,000 pieces of equipment will be sent to Europe for the division-size mobilization. The equipment will depart from seaports in politically important electoral states of South Carolina, Georgia, and Texas.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This mobilization is both chilling, in its extent, and an horrendous waste of badly needed money.

US Special Forces Deployed with Al Qaeda in Idlib in False Flag Attack on Turkish Forces (updated)

Communications intercepts and intelligence from inside Turkish backed terror groups tell an interesting story. Americans are there, for the past 2 days, loads of cash, promises of US passports and families resettled in the US.

US forces are to set up ambushes and suicide bombings against Turkish outposts in Idlib in order to bring about an end to the truce negotiated in Moscow between Erdogan and Trump on March 5.

Whether video will be shot using captured Syrian uniforms may be possible. It is also rumored that Turkish officers, some under CIA/Gulen control, may take part as well.

The aircraft was design as a heavyweight interceptor, which was capable of operating at extreme speeds of Mach 3.2 and altitudes approaching 25km - contributing to its considerable survivability against all manner of anti aircraft missiles at the time. The platform set records for speed and attitude, some of which stand to this day.

Karl MARX’s Influence on Abraham LINCOLN

Friends,
These columns don’t often cite The Washington Post; however, last summer I ran across an article that I saved for future reference and use. And today I will reproduce it.
For the past century and more there has been lively discussion—and debate—over Abraham Lincoln, his life, his views, and the legacy of his presidency left to us. Writers as diverse as historian David Donald, black writer Lerone Bennett, and Professor Thomas di Lorenzo (in two significant books), have attempted to dissect Lincoln’s life and the revolutionary “new” America he gave birth to.

Turkish HTS Rejected the Ceasefire; Erdogan Sends More Troops into Idlib

A Turkish column of troops entered the Syrian Idlib province on the second day of the ceasefire through Kfar Lucin, some sources reported another Turkish forces column crossed the borders into Idlib, while the Turkish-sponsored Nusra Front (al-Qaeda Levant) declared their rejection of the ceasefire and the agreement.

Twenty violations of the ceasefire regime were recorded by the Russian Reconciliation Center in Hmeimim, 19 by the Turks; the Nusra Front rejection of the ceasefire agreement and increase of the Turkish human shields soldiers into Idlib, all are signals of a coming showdown unless someone cuts the tree under the Turkish madman and allow him the free fall he needs and hopefully a bang to his head would wake him up or allow someone smarter to take over in Turkey and save what could be saved in that country before it’s too late and hundreds more of their troops get sardined and sent back in boxes, or whatever is left of them. Esper says new virus won’t prevent military operations

The U.S. military and its warfighting command centers in the Pentagon are prepared to continue operations even if there is a local outbreak of the new coronavirus, Defense Secretary Mark Esper said Thursday, as the department began finalizing its response plans.

Although only one soldier and a handful of family members and Defense Department civilians have so far tested positive for the virus, tens of thousands of troops are in countries and regions that have been hardest hit, including South Korea and portions of Europe.

The nation’s more than 2.1 million active duty, Guard and Reserve forces are spread all around the globe. And they are one of the nation’s last lines of defense against any outside threats or disasters during an outbreak, as well as a force that could be used as a last-resort to maintain order or enforce quarantines within the U.S. in the case of a pandemic.

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org – Home – Stephen Lendman)

The US, Israeli, and Turkish regime under Erdogan can never be trusted.

Time and again they agree to one thing, then go another way — falsely blaming others for their bad faith.

Numerous times before in Astana and Sochi, Erdogan agreed to establish a demilitarized zone in Idlib province Syria, free from jihadists.

Russia fulfilled its obligations. So did Syria, not Turkey by continuing to arm and otherwise support al-Nusra and likeminded terrorists in the province, along with giving them safe haven in Turkish territory.

Natalie Maines has 'no regrets' on speaking out against the Iraq war in 2003 despite industry backlash... as Dixie Chicks celebrate upcoming release of their first album in 14 years

The Dixie Chicks paid a heavy price with an all-out industry backlash for comments made by lead singer Natalie Maines against President George W. Bush and the impending Iraq war in 2003.

And despite public protests against the band and being blacklisted from country music airwaves, Natalie Maines admitted in the April edition of Allure magazine that she has 'no regrets' about what she said during a concert in London 17 years ago.

The award-winning group (which also includes Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer) took a much needed break from the industry and is now returning to music in grand fashion with their first album in 14 years, Gaslighter.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Even if you loathe country music, please buy this album for someone you know who loves this genre; these ladies, for having had the courage to speak out when it was "unfashionable" to do so regarding the Iraq war, (and in fact, wrecked their career for 14 years), deserve this album to go "double platinum", or whatever jargon passes for highest selling these days.

Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman orders arrests of Saudi Arabia king's brother, an ex-crown prince and a cousin by masked black-clad guards for 'treason' as he consolidates his hold on power

Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz al Saud and Prince Mohammed bin Nayef arrested
Over plot to oust king and son, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, reports suggest
Mohammed bin Nayef had been crown prince before his title was taken away
King Salman put his son - Prince Mohammed bin Salman - first in line for throne.

The brother and nephew of Saudi Arabia's King Salman have been arrested over a plot to oust the king and his son, Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The detentions cast aside the last vestiges of potential opposition to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and come as the kingdom limits access to Islam's holiest sites in a highly sensitive move to contain the fast-spreading coronavirus.

Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, a brother of King Salman, and the monarch's nephew Prince Mohammed bin Nayef were accused of treason.

They were taken from their homes early on Friday by black-clad royal guards, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing unnamed sources.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Despicable USA – Theater of Dystopia. A Nation Run by Gangsters

These continuing egregious, lawless crimes around the globe result in the murder, maiming, and displacement of countless human beings in a number of countries. But these crimes are immune from impeachment because they enjoy overwhelming bi-partisan support. Additionally, the President has severely curtailed important life-preserving domestic programs and environmental protections designed to save the health and lives of US citizens, while the Congress yawns.

The obscene, insane annual $125 Trillion bi-partisan military intelligence budget, that includes 17 separate intelligence agencies, pre-empts development of any serious social and physical infrastructure.[3] And, such policy endangers everybody at home and abroad. Who really is the enemy of the US? What is clear is that the US is at war with the world.

Top vet group survey: 44 percent report suicidal thoughts since joining military

The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) this week released a survey showing that 44 percent of respondents said they have thought about suicide since joining the military, with only 10 percent saying they had thought about it prior to military service.

The top veteran advocacy organization’s 10th annual survey was issued over a three-week period in December and January to all IAVA member veterans and over 1,700 veterans responded.

Only 15 percent of those surveyed said the U.S. is making progress on combating military and veteran suicide. Sixty-seven percent of respondents said they personally know a post-9/11 veteran who has attempted suicide, up from 65 percent in 2019 and 54 percent in 2015.

Sixty-two percent of those polled said they personally know a veteran who has died by suicide, up from 59 percent in 2019, 45 percent in 2015, and 40 percent in 2014.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF accurate, these numbers are dismal in the extreme; every active-duty military personnel, and every Veteran need to be screened for this, and treated appropriately.

But the question wed, as concerned citizens, and people who do care about our military and our country is, why are the numbers so high, and why are they so high right now?!?

Lawyers for survivors of 9/11 victims accuse Saudi authorities of targeting witnesses: Legal team also reveals that murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi was 'potential witness' in lawsuit

A legal team representing survivors and familes of victims of the 9/11 attacks has accused Saudi authorities of trying to silence several witnesses.

An almost two-decades-old lawsuit brought to court by thousands of victims and their families accuses Saudi officials of having ties to the 11 September 2001 attacks on New York and Washington. About 3,000 people were killed.

On Wednesday, lawyers representing the families said that four of their witnesses in the case had been threatened or intimidated by alleged Saudi agents.

On those grounds, the plaintiffs' legal team requested that the identities of the witnesses in the drawn-out legal battle be protected and kept secret.

Lawyers representing the Saudi government denied the allegations of witness tampering, saying the claims were "based on hearsay within hearsay".

Webmaster's Commentary:

Holy Crud!! IF, in fact, the connection to the Kashoggi assassination and his info is allowed to be presented, and proves credible in a court of law, this could change everything; everything, of course, except the mind of a President, heck-bent on further polishing the turd of his relationship with the Saudi Dictator, Prince Bin Salman, even further at an horrific cost to the Saudi people, and specifically, the people of Yemen, who are dying every day in airstrikes hitting infants; children; women; and the medically fragile elderly; the bombing of NGOs, like Medicins Sans Frontiers, who have been forced to leave Yemen; the poisoning (possibly with weaponized cholera) of Yemen's water system, making way for a plague of cholera; and starvation, because aid ships are not allowed to dock at Yemen's primary port.

Mr. President, a WORD, PLEASE: Do you realize the extent to which you have allowed this man to jeopardize the perception of this country in the Middle East and beyond, by slavishly following his dictates in Yemen?!?!

And that is not all, Mr. President; HATE COMES FROM THE TOP ON DOWN, if you are a Christian, or a Jew, in Saudi Arabia; from that last report commissioned by the former British foreign secretary, Jeremy Hunt, in which the following statement was made: "In Saudi Arabia, the report says, school textbooks “teach pupils religious hatred and intolerance towards non-Muslims, including Christians and Jews”.

MR. PRESIDENT, AND MR. SECRETARY OF STATE, PLEASE WAKE UP, AND SMELL THE ROTTING SMELL OF RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE HERE, FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!!

Pompeo: US Will Take ‘All Necessary Measures’ to Prevent ICC War Crimes Probe: Pompeo says investigation undermines Afghan peace deal

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reacted angrily to the International Criminal Court (ICC) calling to investigate US war crimes, declaring the group “an unaccountable political institution masquerading as a legal body.”

Pompeo said it was reckless to even suggest an investigation after the Afghan peace deal was reached, and vowed the US would take “all necessary measures” to shield US personnel from the investigation.

This is roughly in line with US policy toward war crimes investigations, and in the past the US has threatened military action against the Netherlands, the host of the court, to shield American soldiers from charges.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF the US is doing absolutely nothing than straight-up, aboveboard interrogations, what do their soldiers have to fear?!?

The answer is, absolutely nothing.

Here's the Wikipedia description of this organization:
Description: International Criminal Court

Look at the Map: there are two countries, represented in mustard color, because they have been a "Signatory that subsequently withdrew its signature."

Notice that the two countries are... The United States and China; and the question we have to ask is, "Why did they do this?!?"

The answer has to be, that in some way, these countries have legitimately been guilty of the following: "The ICC has jurisdiction to prosecute individuals for the international crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression. It is intended to complement existing national judicial systems and it may therefore exercise its jurisdiction only when certain conditions are met, such as when national courts are unwilling or unable to prosecute criminals or when the United Nations Security Council or individual states refer situations to the Court."

IF Secretary of State didn't know what was already happening in Afghanistan, he wouldn't be making these statements or charges; unfortunately, that is not the only place where US government-mandated or US-government-enabled war crimes are taking place.

Let's look at the US enabled Saudi War Crimes in Yemen; the indiscriminate killing of infants; children; women; and the medically fragile elderly. The Causing of rampant starvation, because ships with aid are not allowed to dock at Yemen's only port, Hodeida. Let's look at the massive waves of cholera here, because all the clean water infrastructure has been destroyed by US Saudi bombings. Aid organizations, like "Medicin Sans Frontiers" having gotten their facilities bombed into rubble so frequently in Yemen, that the risk/benefit ratio was so messed up, that they had no choice but to leave Yemen.

Has my government, and does my government, currently, engage in war crimes, and crimes against humanity?!? The short answer is, every damned day, somewhere.

And until and Unless Secretary Pompeo is ready, and willing to cure this, it will continue to be a living curse on this country, wreaking retribution where we least expect it.

And I have a name for Secretary Pompeo to have checked by the poor unfortunate (or unfortunates) being "punished" by having to read this site: Hanns Scharff.

Bio: Hanns Scharff

Who was this guy?@? He was a Nazi interrogator, who never used violence to get information out his English, Yank, and Canadian prisoners during World War II. He instead gave them the impression, by the way he spoke to them, that he already knew everything there was to know about their operation, and in fact, actually had them released from prison for artistic and cultural events. He got information from them in a way which was both brilliant, and never had to break a leg to do it.

At the end of the war, this man was so revered as an interrogator, that he was invited by the US military so greatly, that he was invited to teach his techniques to the American military. He ultimately became an American citizen, and was primarily known in this country for the beautiful pottery he created.

And Mr. Secretary of State, we need more Hanns Scharffs as our interrogators, not the second comings of the monsters who have and (who continue ) to use torture to exact confessions, which are generally not actionable, but great for conjuring an American narrative of what "baddies" they really are.

Remembering The Alamo

Also remember Goliad where 400 Texicans were massacred after surrendering by Santa Ana and the Mexican Army!

Tomorrow, March 6, marks the anniversary of the fall of the Alamo outside of San Antonio, Texas, back in 1836. This event is so significant in my mind that I always try to devote a column that honors the heroism of these men on or around the anniversary of the occasion.

For 13 days, 189 brave and determined patriots withstood Santa Anna’s seasoned army of over 4,000 troops. To a man, the defenders of that mission fort knew that they would never leave those ramparts alive. They had several opportunities to leave and live. Yet they chose to fight and die. How foolish they must look to this generation of spoiled Americans.

Coronavirus: Remember the “Fake” 2009 H1N1 Swine Flu Pandemic: Manipulating the Data to Justify a Worldwide Public Health Emergency

Author’s Introduction

On January 30th 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) in relation to China’s novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) categorized as a viral pneumonia. The virus outbreak was centred in the city of Wuhan, a city in Eastern China with a population in excess of 11 million.

In the week prior to January 30th decision, the WHO Emergency Committee “expressed divergent views”. There were visible divisions within the Committee. On January 30th, a far-reaching decision was taken in an irresponsible fashion without the support of expert opinion at a time when the coronavirus outbreak was limited to Mainland China.

Who Made Coronavirus? Was It the U.S., Israel or China?

The most commonly reported mainstream media account of the creation of the Coronavirus suggests that it was derived from an animal borne microorganism found in a wild bat that was consumed by an ethnic Chinese resident of Wuhan. But there appears to be some evidence to dispute that in that adjacent provinces in China, where wild bats are more numerous, have not experienced major outbreaks of the disease. Because of that and other factors, there has also been considerable speculation that the Coronavirus did not occur naturally through mutation but rather was produced in a laboratory, possibly as a biological warfare agent.

Editor’s note: Has graduated from simply luring the migrants to the Greek border, and helping them reach (and penetrate) it — to at least in some cases, forcibly transporting them there and pushing them across. Idlib ceasefire: Putin & Erdogan reach deal on Syria de-escalation after marathon Moscow talks

The leaders of Russia and Turkey have agreed a ceasefire plan for Syria’s Idlib and security measures for the troops stationed there to prevent the escalation in the militant-infested province from spiraling into an all-out war.
The press statement followed hours-long talks in Moscow between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

During the talks, Putin and Erdogan agreed a document detailing a ceasefire in Idlib, starting from midnight on March 6.

DOD LINGUIST ARRESTED, CHARGED WITH ESPIONAGE FOR SHARING IDENTITIES OF US SPIES WITH HEZBOLLAH

SOURCE: ZERO HEDGE

A US department of defense employee has been arrested and charged with transmitting "highly sensitive classified" information to a foreign national with ties to the Lebanese Islamist militant group Hezbollah.

According to US federal prosecutors, 61-year-old Mariam Taha Thompson told a Lebanese man the names of foreign informants, as well as details of the information they provided to the United States - revealing some of the government’s most closely held secrets, according to the New York Times. Officials say Ms. Thompson endangered the lives of both sources and military personnel.

She was arrested at an overseas US base on February 27.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There are a couple of questions which immediately spring to mind, following this arrest:

1. What in heaven's name possessed this woman to do such a thing?!?

2. Why was it that the DOD was only able to make this arrest well after "the horse was already out of the barn", as my late maternal grandmother was fond of saying?!? Why were the DOD's concerns not addressed until after the damage was already done?!?

3. And the dramatic "find" of a note under her mattress, when she had to understand that her personal effects would be the most immediately searched?!?

Forgive me, but something here does not pass the "smell test". I have to wonder if this woman is not being "flipped" by the DOD, in search of a far larger, more menacing threat to American security, OR, as is frequently the case with FBI stings, they have demonized her, and made her appear to be far more threatening than she ever was, to prove to a rather skeptical American public, that they are "doing something" to prevent terrorism from striking at the American heartland.

Empires of the Steppes Fuel Erdogan Khan’s DreamsAs Putin meeting looms, no one in Moscow believes any word, promise or cajoling from Erdogan anymore

“Idlib is mine”

So there is a link between the turcophone tribes of Central Asia from the 5th and 6thcenturies and the current Turkish nation. From the 6th to the 11th centuries they were set up as a confederation of big tribes. Then, going southwest, they founded states. Chinese sources document the first turkut (Turkish empires) as eastern Turks in Mongolia and western Turks in Turkestan.

They were followed by more or less ephemeral empires of the steppes such as the Uighurs in the 8th century (who, by the way, were originally Buddhists). It’s interesting that this original past of the Turks in Central Asia, before Islam, was somewhat elevated to mythic status by the Kemalists.

Ending the Myth that Trump Is Ending the Wars: Trump has sent more new troops to the Middle East than he’s bringing home from Afghanistan.

There was this moment during the State of the Union Address that I can’t stop thinking about.

When President Trump spoke to army wife Amy Wiliams during his speech and told her he’d arranged her husband’s return home from Afghanistan as a “special surprise,” it was difficult to watch.

Sgt. Townsend Williams then descended the stairs to reunite with his family after seven months of deployment. Congress cheered. A military family’s reunion — with its complicated feelings that are typically handled in private or on a base — was used for an applause line.

That gimmick was the only glimpse many Americans will get of the human reality of our wars overseas. There is no such window into the lives or suffering of people in Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan, or beyond.

That’s unacceptable. And so is the myth that Trump is actually ending the wars.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Given that many of the Trump-Centric Evangelicals in this country are also "End of Time Believers", who believe that it will be only after a massive world war (which humankind MUST bring about) that Jesus' "Second Coming" will happen, coupled with the push by the military industrial complex for wars and more wars, I see both the chances for bringing about the end of existing wars, and not bringing about new ones, is statistically very slight for this administration.

And the hell of it it is, once the Dementocrats finally have nailed down their choices for President and Vice President, whoever they may be, we are still looking at a party which will never "cross the line" in terms of questioning if such a war is necessary, and if there might possibly be other alternatives which would see the US get what it wanted to get, geopolitically, without firing a shot.

So, as usual, at the end of the day, the American voter has utterly zero choice in finding a non-warmonger as their presidential or vice-presidential candidate, because no matter who they vote for, every vote in this Kabuki-like charade, is a vote for more war.; it pains me to say this, but if people are honestly, dispassionately looking at the American Presidential political process, this is the butt-ugly truth, no matter how you describe it.

Turkish Army Posts in Syria’s Idlib Merge With Rebel Positions: Russia says Turkey is violating past deals on Idlib

Turkish-backed Islamist rebels in Northern Syria’s Idlib Province have been getting more and more aid from Turkey to fight against the Syrian government. They are looking for direct Turkish backing by embedding closer and closer to Turkish Army posts. At this point, they’ve effectively merged.

This makes sense for the rebels to do, because having Syria attack al-Qaeda doesn’t look like a problem, but having Syria attack the Turkish military does. Making it less clear which is which ensures that every Syrian military operation is vilified.

Russian officials were critical of this tactic, saying Turkey was violating obligations they’d established in previous deals over Idlib, particularly deals when all those Turkish Army posts were established. This was done specifically so Turkey didn’t do exactly what they’re doing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

How ever this is happening, it does not auger well for peace; for the Syrian people, and for its government.

They Have the Watches, We Have the Time; US and Iran Hardliners Still Want War

For the US Empire, and those relishing the responsibility for its maintenance and expansion, to include much of corporate media, there can simply not be too much war.

There are hardliners in Iran who want confrontation and war with the US, just as for decades now we have had hardliners in the US start, prolong and sustain war after war, stretching from Western Africa to Pakistan. What we need to do, both Americans and Iranians, is to recognize the dangers within each of our own governments and not do anything to allow these hardliners to feed off each other, escalate crises and deliver the political space needed in both countries for war between the US and Iran to occur.

Turkey’s parliament descended into a chaotic fistfight after an opposition lawmaker accused President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an of disrespecting Turkish soldiers killed recently in Idlib, Syria.

During a closed session about the country’s operations in Idlib, opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) member Engin Ozkoc said Erdogan disrespected the dead troops and had also acted irresponsibly by sending them into conflict without air cover.

The accusations quickly escalated into a huge brawl inside the chamber between government and opposition politicians, with punches thrown and lawmakers slapping and kicking each other.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Were I a Turkish Parliamentarian, what would have really "chapped my grits" here, would have been that this was ordered by Edrogan, with absolutely zero parliamentary input or review, as to whether this military intervention in Syria was necessary, or was Edrogan writing checks (again)for his military misadventures in Syria, which his military were unable to cash.

That would have angered me greatly.

I do not know if Turkey's Constitution allows for snap elections, but were I a Turkish Parliamentarian, upset at his current geopolitical proclivities, I would want to see this happen, and right now.

Who Made Coronavirus? Was It the U.S., Israel or China Itself?

The most commonly reported mainstream media account of the creation of the Coronavirus suggests that it was derived from an animal borne microorganism found in a wild bat that was consumed by an ethnic Chinese resident of Wuhan. But there appears to be some evidence to dispute that in that adjacent provinces in China, where wild bats are more numerous, have not experienced major outbreaks of the disease. Because of that and other factors, there has also been considerable speculation that the Coronavirus did not occur naturally through mutation but rather was produced in a laboratory, possibly as a biological warfare agent.

HomeWorld News‘You met Al-Qaeda’s medical staff’: US envoy to UN takes heat after proudly greeting notorious White Helmets

Colorful images of Ambassador Kelly Craft enthusiastically shaking hands with ‘White Helmets’ members made rounds online, with users reminding the diplomat of their connections to a jihadi group the US once fought against.
Craft, who serves as the US Ambassador to the United Nations, showed up at the Turkey-Syrian border, posing with members of the self-described “civil defense group.” She didn’t come empty-handed, though, promising a hefty $108-million “humanitarian support package” intended for the people of northern Syria.

“Grateful to shake the hands of the brave men and women of the #whitehelmets,” Kelly tweeted, hailing them as “ordinary people doing extraordinary things to save the lives of Syrian victims of Assad’s brutality.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think I'm about to get just a little ill over this; to truly not know what the facts are, is one thing.

But to know, absolutely ,what the facts are, and yet continue to lie to the American people and the world?!?

This is one of the highest, and most intense, forms of treason imaginable.

HomeWorld NewsHuman shield tactics again? ‘Israeli jets’ striking Syria force TWO civilian planes to change course

Two civilian airplanes bound for Qatar were reportedly used as cover by Israeli jets launching missiles from Lebanese airspace against targets near the Syrian cities of Homs and Quneitra.
READ MORE: Syrian air defenses engage ‘hostile targets’ over Homs & Quneitra

Syrian air defenses engaged incoming missiles shortly after midnight local time on Thursday, both near Homs in central Syria and Quneitra in the south, on the armistice line with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Following the attack, reports appeared that at least two flights – one passenger, one cargo – had to change course to avoid getting struck by air defense missiles.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Putting civilian lives on the line has never been a moral, or ethical issue for either the IDF, or the Israeli government.

China’s Coronavirus: A Shocking Update. Did The Virus Originate in the US?

The Western media quickly took the stage and laid out the official narrative for the outbreak of the new coronavirus which appeared to have begun in China, claiming it to have originated with animals at a wet market in Wuhan.

In fact the origin was for a long time unknown but it appears likely now, according to Chinese and Japanese reports, that the virus originated elsewhere, from multiple locations, but began to spread widely only after being introduced to the market.

More to the point, it appears that the virus did not originate in China and, according to reports in Japanese and other media, may have originated in the US.

Erdogan or Erdo-gone in Turkey?

Date: March 4, 2020 Author: Tom Luongo

“Whom the gods would destroy they first make mad”
— Henry Wadsworth Longfellow “Prometheus”

It looks like Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is headed for the political gallows a lot quicker than I ever thought.

His offensive in Idlib has bogged down. And a day before he’s scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow Erdogan Turkish parliament degrades quickly as opposition speaks out against his Syria campaign.

This prompted a fistfight.

A Brief Modern History of Biowarfare

— the Hague Convention of 1907 bans chemical weapons;

— WW I use of poison gas causes 100,000 deaths and 900,000 injuries;

— Britain uses poison gas against Iraqis in the 1920s; as Secretary of State for War in 1919, Winston Churchill advocates it in a secret memo stating: “I am strongly in favour of using poisoned gas against uncivilised tribes;”

— the 1928 Geneva Protocol prohibits gas and bacteriological warfare;

The US Used Biological Warfare Against Mainland China in the 1950s

The US amnestied Japanese war criminals and told them to develop biological weapons for its use. It then used those weapons widely in the Korean War, but vehemently denied doing so, blaming any reports on “Communist propaganda” which it continues to this day. ‘Fortunately’ the Chinese and Korean familiarity with Japanese bioweapons meant they were able to limit the fallout and render the US biological warfare campaign ineffective.

Gene Genovese And Our Criminally Reckless Wars

Eugene Genovese (1930-2012) was an accomplished and influential historian of the United States whose professional and personal trajectory carried him from the radical Left to a distinctive form of conservatism. As a young man, he was a card-carrying communist. He ended up a devout Roman Catholic. His contributions to scholarship were legion and his impact on our understanding of slavery and on Southern slaveholders massive.

Genovese did not place a premium on getting along with others. Instinctively combative, he was a cantankerous colleague who never hesitated to say what he believed. Giving offense he considered a plus.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Genovese was right on both counts here; there is no "moral rightness" in the US invasion and occupation of Afghanistan; Iraq; any of the invasions of Africa; or Syria; this was all about money and resources; regime changing countries in order to expropriate natural resources to which the US had utterly no moral right; have them processed by multi-national centric companies not unfavorable to the US; and only sold in US dollars.

And please remember; the US is aiding and abetting Saudi war crimes in Yemen as I type this. And just in case you are dealing with a really bad case of SMD (selective memory disorder), let these images remind you of US complicity in Saudi war crimes (warning; these are graphic, to a "lose your lunch" point, but need to be posted, and seen.)

The Saudis are killing and maiming innocent children with their bombing runs.
The US military is providing "guidance" for these strikes.

Saudi coalition using depleted uranium weapons in Yemen
Deformities in Yemen suggests that the US military has supplied the Saudi military with depleted uranium weapons.

The result of this use of DU is causing massive rises in cancer rates; stillbirths, and horrific deformities of Yemeni children:

And yet, apparently, the Royal House of Saud; the Saudi government; and the US government, are perfectly comfortable with poisoning Yemeni children in the womb, and destroying not only their lives, but their families' lives as well. If there is a more cruel form of child abuse, I cannot imagine what that is.

And please DON'T start with me about "collateral damage"; in my world, there is none. Just non-combatants caught up at the wrong place, in the wrong time.

Russia says Turkey trying to push 130,000 refugees from Syria into Greece - Interfax

Russia on Tuesday said that Turkey was trying to push 130,000 refugees from Syria into Greece, the Interfax news agency cited the Defence Ministry as saying.

The two thirds of these refugees - that Turkey is pushing from temporary camps in Syria - are Afghans, Iraqis and Africans, not Syrians, it added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What Turkey is attempting to do here, is "weaponize" refugees by having them pour into Europe, as "blackmail" for NATO not supporting Turkish military misadventures in Syria; and NATO wants no part of a fight against Russia for Syrian territory.

Assad Joins Forces With Libya’s Hafter to Combat Turkey: East Libya govt will open embassy in Damascus

While recent generations have shown them reluctant to expand far beyond their borders, in the past few months Turkey has shown interest in overseas military engagements. Forces have been active in northern Syria with an eye toward regime change, and Turkey has also committed to military involvement in Libya.

That’s given Turkey two potential enemies to worry about, and given them each a potential new ally. The Syrian government and Libya’s self-proclaimed Libyan National Army (LNA) or Gen. Khalifa Haftar have agreed to cooperation, and a memorandum of understanding to confront Turkish aggression.

The LNA’s adjoining government, the eastern-based Tobruk Parliament, has confirmed it will be opening an embassy in Damascus. This will be the first Libyan embassy in Syria since the 2012 NATO-imposed regime change in Libya.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is one of the most significant developments regarding Libya, that you will almost never hear about, courtesy of the Corporate Presstitutes.

A very very curious, but astute, article appeared in mid-January of this year, from fp, and titled: Russia’s Role in the Libyan Civil War Gives It Leverage Over Europe

It then states that "recent joint Russian-Turkish summit in Moscow aimed at forging a cease-fire in Libya broke down after the Libyan warlord Khalifa Haftar left without signing the proposed truce agreement. One of Haftar’s main backers is Russia, and his unwillingness to sign on to the deal raises important questions about not only the degree of influence Russia actually has in Libya, but also how serious it is about bringing an end to the conflict.

Russia first rose to prominence in Libya in September 2019 after it deployed mercenaries to the front lines of Tripoli to back Haftar, sparking concern in the United States and Europe that the Kremlin had finally thrown its hat into Libya’s civil war. Its presence in Libya was strikingly reminiscent of the decisive role it played in Syria, where it backed the regime of President Bashar al-Assad to brutal effect and essentially saved the regime from collapse."

but if Syria (and Russia) are bringing force to bear against the current UN/proxy military government in Tripoli, which Erdogan is claiming he is fighting to defend, we have a couple of potential outcomes, both lousy, for US involvement here.

The first is a triumphant Haftar, after taking Tripoli, and the rest of the country, calling for new elections, and throwing the delegitimized UN government out, and the question has to be asked; what is the US government actually willing to do to prevent this, in light of the fact that Russia is siding with Haftar?!?

The second is a prolonged US/NATO-led military against Haftar and the Russians, which could well turn Libya into another US Vietnam, with the same ultimate outcome as this war had.

And what concerns me, is that those in the Bowels of Power in this country appear to be sleepwalking into this trap, just as blissfully as did the US government in World War I.

One of the most brilliant films about war ever to have been made, is the 2nd Robert Downey Jr./Jude Law film about Sherlock Holmes; the title is "A Game of Shadows", and if you have not seen it, I urge you to do so, because it talks in very plain language, about just how regional wars like this get fanned, until they become world wars; this is the potential impact of Al Assad throwing his geopolitical fortunes with Russia, in supporting Haftar in Libya.

US Navy’s Ships, Sailors Becoming Increasingly Unable to Fight in Stormy Seas, Media Warns

Last week, Navy officials testifying to Congress complained that fiscal 2021 plans to cut the Navy’s shipbuilding budget by $4.1 billion from 2020 was “not helpful,” noting that the cuts would sink plans to build a new submarine, cancel a $650 million America-class amphibious assault ship, and hit other ship and aircraft procurement plans.

The US Navy has grown increasingly incapable of operating in extreme weather conditions since the end of the Cold War due to increasingly fragile prospective ship designs and a generation of seamen who haven’t received the same amount of poor weather training as their predecessors, Forbes defence contributor Craig Hooper has warned.

Erdogan’s Dance of Death With NATO

Although the evidence is murky, it appears that both Russian and Syrian jet fighters took part in the Feb. 27 attack on a Turkish mechanized infantry battalion consisting of roughly 400 soldiers. According to an account in Al-Monitor, two Syrian Sukhoi SU-22 pounded the convoy, forcing the troops to take cover. But then a pair of Russian Sukhoi SU-34s dropped advanced laser-guided bunker-buster bombs on two roadside buildings where Turkish forces had taken shelter, burying them in the rubble.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And the US government has responded accordingly, according to an article in msn.com, datelined today:U.S. promises Turkey ammunition for Syria's Idlib battle

The article goes on to state:

U.S. promises Turkey ammunition for Syria's Idlib battle

The United States is willing to give NATO ally Turkey ammunition alongside humanitarian assistance in northwestern Syria where Ankara is in a deepening standoff with Russia, the U.S. special representative for the region said on Tuesday. Lucy Fielder reports."

As I have mentioned on this site many times before, just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government can do, is no guarantee that it will not do it; I am very concerned that President Trump may well rue the day he and his Cabinet decided that this was the "right way" of handling Erdogan's "military misadventures" in Syria.

PETER HITCHENS: Today, I’m publishing the document that could save us from war

Long ago, a wise teacher told me to remember these words: ‘Truth is the Daughter of Time, not of Authority.’ I had no idea how important they were. Now, after many years of experiencing official dishonesty, they are my motto.

One day, a lot of other people, in the media and politics, will accept that in the past few months they have failed in their duty to the truth, by staying silent or – worse – joining in a braying attempt to suppress crucial facts.

But by then it is quite possible that the peoples of the Western world will have been whipped into a warlike frenzy by false information, just as happened in the Iraq disaster 17 years ago. Because if nothing is done about the scandal I have been writing about, such an outcome is highly possible, even likely.

PENTAGON’S OWN MAP OF U.S. BASES IN AFRICA CONTRADICTS ITS CLAIM OF “LIGHT” FOOTPRINT

LAST MONTH, ABOUT a dozen al-Shabab fighters infiltrated the perimeter of a military base in Manda Bay, Kenya. One of them took aim with a rocket-propelled grenade, firing at a U.S. surveillance plane and touching off an hourslong firefight. When it was all over, the two American pilots of that plane and a U.S. soldier were dead, two other U.S. military personnel were wounded, six surveillance aircraft and helicopters were destroyed, and parts of the airfield were in flames.

Where there are U.S. bases, there is the potential for such attacks, because bases are not just launching pads for offensive military operations, but targets for them too.

Will Idlib be Putin’s Folly or Erdogan’s Rubicon?

It’s been a dramatic few days in Syria. The Syrian Army pushed across Idlib Province to retake major strongholds of Al-Qaeda-linked jihadists who have controlled the region for years thanks to support from Turkey.

This provoked a major escalation from Turkey’s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Major offensives by the jihadists, backed by Turkish armor and air power, pushed back the Syrian army from the outskirts of Idlib city and took back the town of Saraqib at the confluence of the M4 and M5 highways which are of major strategic importance.

Erdogan Using Humans as ‘Weapon’ Against EU, Austria’s Kurz Says

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of using migrants who are amassed on the Greek border as a “weapon” against the European Union.

“This rush is not an accident, it’s organized,” Kurz told journalists in Vienna. “Those people are used by Erdogan as a playball, as a weapon, to apply pressure on the European Union.”

The European Union must stand united behind Greece, and protect the borders as well as provide humanitarian help, Kurz said.

Erdogan warns Europe to expect ‘millions’ of migrants after Turkey opens borders

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned on Monday that "millions" of migrants would soon head for Europe, drawing accusations from EU leaders that he is trying to pressure them into backing his incursions into Syria.

Turkey gave the green light to refugees and migrants on Friday to leave for the European Union and thousands have since massed at the Greek border, triggering fears of an influx like that which poisoned European politics in 2015.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel described Turkey's move as "unacceptable" and EU migration commissioner Margaritis Schinas said nobody could "blackmail or intimidate the EU".

But Turkey, which hosts roughly four million refugees, is trying to hold off another mass influx from Syria – where government forces backed by Russian air power are advancing into the last rebel stronghold of Idlib.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Europe is singularly unprepared for this flood of immigrants, and has no cohesive way to stop them, save assassination at the borders, which is hardly likely.

But the real problem here, is the reality that Russia and Turkey are closer to war over Syria, than they have ever been before; ad US and European/NATO fire-power to the mix, and we have a recipe for disaster.

As NATO is a partner with Turkey, this makes the possibility of an intense US/NATO incursion into Syria, a lot more real than it has been before.
And we also have a companion piece, also from antiwar.com, with the following headline: Threat of a US and Russian Nuclear War Is Now at Its Greatest Since 1983
The article goes on to state: "When the Commander of NATO says he is a fan of flexible first strike at the same time that NATO is flexing its military muscle on Russia’s border, the risk of inadvertent nuclear war is real.

US Air Force Gen. Tod D. Wolters told the Senate this week he “is a fan of flexible first strike” regarding NATO’s nuclear weapons, thereby exposing the fatal fallacy of the alliance’s embrace of American nuclear deterrence policy.

It was one of the most remarkable yet underreported exchanges in recent Senate history. Earlier this week, during the testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee of General Tod Wolters, the commander of US European Command and, concurrently, as the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe (SACEUR) also the military head of all NATO armed forces, General Wolters engaged in a short yet informative exchange with Senator Deb Fischer, a Republican from the state of Nebraska.

Following some initial questions and answers focused on the alignment of NATO’s military strategy with the 2018 National Defense Strategy of the US, which codified what Wolters called “the malign influence on behalf of Russia” toward European security, Senator Fischer asked about the growing recognition on the part of NATO of the important role of US nuclear deterrence in keeping the peace. “We all understand that our deterrent, the TRIAD, is the bedrock of the security of this country,” Fischer noted. “Can you tell us about what you are hearing…from our NATO partners about this deterrent?”

Wolters responded by linking the deterrence provided to Europe by the US nuclear TRIAD with the peace enjoyed on the European continent over the past seven decades. Fischer asked if the US nuclear umbrella was “vital in the freedom of NATO members”; Wolters agreed. Remarkably, Wolters linked the role of nuclear deterrence with the NATO missions in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere outside the European continent. NATO’s mission, he said, was to “proliferate deterrence to the max extent practical to achieve greater peace.”

Then came the piece de resistance of the hearing. “What are your views, Sir,” Senator Fischer asked, “of adopting a so-called no-first-use policy. Do you believe that that would strengthen deterrence?”

General Wolters’ response was straight to the point. “Senator, I’m a fan of flexible first-use policy.”

I don't know if that statement scares any one of you as much as it does me, but right now, my hair is standing straight up in the back... and breakdancing,

Bloomberg tells AIPAC he'll 'never impose conditions' on military aid to Israel

Former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg on Monday pledged to support Israel’s security and constrain Iran’s nuclear program at the annual pro-Israel AIPAC summit in Washington, while also criticizing Sen. Bernie Sanders for boycotting the annual event, which has been a lightning rod in the 2020 Democratic primary.

Bloomberg was the only 2020 Democratic presidential candidate to attend the American Israel Public Affairs Committee Conference in Washington, a move criticized by progressives and some Democrats not aligned with the group's views.

“I can’t tell you how glad I am to be at AIPAC,” he said. "Israel is small, we know, but resilient, and surrounded by adversaries. And if you caught the last couple of presidential debates you know that I can empathize."

MORE: Bloomberg criticizes Trump’s response to coronavirus as he launches campaign blitz ahead of Super Tuesday

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation from Bloombergese into English; "I will allow Israeli full, unfettered and free rein to "play picador" in the Middle East, until it gets into a fight it cannot win on its own, and then expend American troops to clean up after Israel, no matter the cost in blood and money!

And hey, invading Iran, even if Russia has pledged to support it in the case of a US invasion of it, Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If the U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Saysis no big deal!!"

Mayor Bloomberg, a word, please; there are moments when US and Israeli objectives align in the Middle East, and times when they most assuredly do NOT align; this last, and thoroughly irresponsible statement, indicates to both American voters, and the rest of the world, that you are hard-pressed to understand the difference here, and are infinitely more inclined to support Israel, no matter if it is completely wrong in its premise to wage whatever wars they feel are critical, at any given point in time, than supporting an even-handed approach to the region's politics.

Exit polls: 59 seats to Netanyahu's right-wing bloc

Highest turnout in 21 years appears to have worked in Netanyahu's favor as he claims right to form government; all three exit polls predict Gantz's Blue & White losing significant ground to ruling Likud
Ynet|
Updated: 03.03.20 , 02:08

Voting in Israel's Election Day ended at 10pm Tuesday with the three main television exit polls predicting that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party will likely claim significantly more seats than Benny Gantz's Blue & White party but with the right-wing bloc still two seats short of a parliamentary majority.

An initial prediction from the three channels of 60 seats to the right-wing bloc was amended by all 59 seats as the night went on.
According to the public broadcaster KAN, Likud has won 36 seats, while the Blue & White has won 33 seats. Channel 12 (Keshet) had Likud on 37 seats and Blue & White on 32. According to Channel 13, Likud will win 37 seats and Blue & White 34 seats.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problems here are, that without some kind of coalition, and plurality with Gantz's"Blue & White Party", Netanyahu's win yesterday, makes Israel no more governable than before the election started, because the rivalry between Netanyahu's party, and Gantz's, never got resolved.

We will see if there is any resolution in the near future, but given both mens' penchants for hubris, you could see Israel at war with any of her regional neighbors in a heartbeat.

THE NOBILITY OF TULSI GABBARD

SOURCE: W.J.ASTORE VIA BRACINGVIEWS.COM
In the South Carolina primary won on Saturday by Joe Biden, Tulsi Gabbard earned only 1.3% of the vote. Her poor showing was due in part to her outcast status among the Democratic establishment joined by mainstream media outlets like MSNBC and CNN.

Speaking of CNN, I caught a few minutes of coverage over the weekend during which its commentators confessed they couldn’t understand why Tulsi was still running. One person (Anderson Cooper, the weasel) suggested she was angling for a job with Fox News.

Of course, Tulsi’s principled opposition to regime-change wars and other disastrous U.S. foreign policy decisions went unmentioned. When her name is mentioned by the corporate-owned media, it’s usually in the context of the candidate most likely to succeed – in Russia.

By running in the election, Tulsi Gabbard continues to make an invaluable contribution:

Webmaster's Commentary:

This woman may well go down in history, as one of the most principled candidates in the 2020 race; that is why she was knocked out of contention, because she is no warmonger, and doesn't believe that the Unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika needs these endless wars to keep it alive and well.

Wounded and Shaken the Syrian Army Goes on the Counter-Offensive, Wins

Erdogan has bloodied the Syrian army alright, but after initial shock the force has responded with tenacity rather than panic.

The scope and effect — particularly of Turkey’s aerial offensive — in recent days shouldn’t be underestimated. In terms of numbers Turkey’s armed drones, and drone-guided artillery inflicted very significant losses. The dead alone are likely in the low hundreds, with probably over a thousand wounded, and close to a hundred tanks, APCs and self-propelled artillery lost.

Turkey in Syria: Down a Blind Alley in an Unwinnable War?

Turkish Forces Will Leave Syria – One Way or Another

Turkish troops will not be able to remain indefinitely in Syria. Their proxies will eventually be liquidated and the positions of Turkish forces surrounded by Syrian forces. In many areas of Idlib this is already the case. Additional Turkish troops and supplies fed into losing battles and what is ultimately a lost war will only delay the inevitable undoing of Turkish interests in Syria.

Ankara could – on the other hand – begin aligning its policies with the reality of what is happening in Idlib and expand its cooperation with Russia and Iran regarding the Syrian conflict – incrementally withdrawing support from militant groups, encouraging them to disarm and surrender, and gradually handing over Turkish positions within Syria to the actual military, government, and people of Syria.

The threat of a nuclear war between the US and Russia is now at its greatest since 1983

When the Commander of NATO says he is a fan of flexible first strike at the same time that NATO is flexing its military muscle on Russia’s border, the risk of inadvertent nuclear war is real.
US Air Force Gen. Tod D Wolters told the Senate this week he “is a fan of flexible first strike” regarding NATO’s nuclear weapons, thereby exposing the fatal fallacy of the alliance’s embrace of American nuclear deterrence policy.

Pentagon races to counter coronavirus threat on military forces

The Pentagon is taking care to prevent a slip in national security and readiness following the steady global spread of the coronavirus that has the Department of Defense (DOD) holding off on a military exercise, quarantining fleets and curtailing troop movement.

As cases of COVID-19 continue to rise, DOD in the last week has canceled a joint military exercise with South Korea, restricted access to public areas at Army installations in Italy and ordered all ships that have visited countries in the Pacific region to remain at sea for 14 days, essentially a self-quarantine.

U.S. Central Command has also ordered a stop to all nonessential travel in the Persian Gulf region.

Russia Deploys Elite ‘Hellduck’ Bombers for Strikes on Jihadists as Clashes in Idlib Escalate

The Russians have deployed several warships carrying Kaliber Cruise Missiles off the coast of Syria the past couple of days and these planes too.

Amid escalating clashes in Syria’s Idlib province, which have seen Turkey providing considerable armaments and direct fire support to a range of jihadist militias on the ground, the Russian Air Force has deployed its elite Su-34 ‘Hellduck’ strike fighters for attacks on militant positions.

Turkey is set to invade Syria along a 900 km front.

A Syrian friend is telling us that his sources in Syria are telling him that Turkey is preparing to invade Syria along it entire border at various points. The Russian and entire Syrian military are on high alert. Unless somebody dissuades Erdogan all hell may break loose. 2 days ago the Russians moved several surface warships near Syria and the are carrying scores of Kaliber missiles. Things are gonna get ugly. Got my ear to the ground. I hope the Russians talk him out of it.

Seattle's lack of housing forces families to live in their cars: "I reached a point where I didn't see any hope"

The Generals are stealing all our money for wars.10 trillion missing from the Pentagram and Americans are living on the streets. Why do we put up with these scumbags! This breaks my heart to see Americans in a bad spot like this. The District of Criminals does not give a crap about America or Americans!

Aaron, who lives with his wife Silje and their two children in a parking lot outside of Seattle, begins his day in darkness, making a two-hour commute by scooter and bus to his job at the post office.

"You do what you need to get through a given day. You get rest when you can," he said. "You just keep going through the process of trying to get into better circumstances."

Turkey Asks NATO to Join Its War Against Syria and Russia

Note: The events that led to this critical impasse were reported by me last night, and that report thus continues here, in order to provide context to these events.

The spokesperson for the Islamist party of Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan has called upon all of NATO to go to war against Syria for Syria’s having killed dozens of Turkey’s troops in order for Syria to defeat Turkey’s invasion and military occupation of Syria’s Idlib Province, which borders on Turkey. Going to war against Syria would mean going to war also against Russia, which is in Syria to protect Syria’s sovereignty over its own territory. If the United States accepts that Turkish proposal, then World War III will consequently result.

THIS ASSANGE “TRIAL” IS A SELF-CONTRADICTORY KAFKAESQUE NIGHTMARE

It’s common in British courtrooms to have something called a “dock”, a place where defendants sit separately from court proceedings. Not all UK courtrooms have docks, and not all docks are the “secure” glass cabinet type which Assange is kept in; they can also be open wooden enclosures. Because Assange is being kept without explanation in a maximum security prison normally reserved the most dangerous violent offenders and terrorism convicts, his trial is taking place in a cage that is very much the “secure” type (so much so that he’s been complaining that he can’t hear the proceedings in his own trial through the bulletproof glass), and there is an expectation that he remain there. The magistrate has ruled that this nonviolent offender shall be kept in his sound-resistant enclosure throughout the duration of his trial, bizarrely asserting that Assange poses a danger to the public.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Please remember; nothing ever reported at Wikileaks, has ever been proven to be wrong.

What is happening to Assange is punishment for having told the truth, and "embarrassing" certain US public officials; nothing more and nothing less.

His extradition, and ultimate guilty verdict in an alleged US "Court of Law", means that no journalist will ever be safe in this country if they tell the truth, EVER AGAIN.

THE TRILATERAL COMMISSION: USING CRISIS AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO REFORM

SOURCE: STEVEN GUINNESS
A couple of years ago I posted an article that gave a brief overview of the Trilateral Commission, quoting directly from numerous former members of the institution and how their overarching goal was for the integration of nation states at the expense of self determination.

As noted in the brochure, one of the purposes of creating the Trilateral Commission back in 1973 was to ‘buttress a beleaguered trading order.’ When considering the rise in political protectionism, trade is at the forefront of the discussion. As well as the future trading relationship between the UK and the EU, and the ongoing trade conflict between the U.S. and China, there is now the added element of the Coronavirus which threatens to restrict global supply chains. Taken together, it is a melting pot of developing crises.

Webmaster's Commentary:

In our world, there is only one, count them, ONE set of "Contracts with America"; they are called the Constitution and Bill of Rights, period, end of discussion.

SYRIA - DEADLY BOMB STRIKE WARNS TURKEY TO END ITS ESCAPADES

SOURCE: MOON OF ALABAMA
The last three days of the Idleb campaign were quite eventful.

The Turkey supported Jihadis threw everything they had against Saraqib where the M4 and M5 highways join. This enabled the Syrian army to take some 40 towns and cities at the southern front. The whole Ghab plain is now in liberated and the frontline has been massively shortened.

Saraqib fell to the Jihadis but they paid a very bloody price for it as the Syrian and Russian air force continued to intensively bomb the approaches to the city. A new defensive line has now been established around Saraqib and the Syrian army is preparing to recover it.

To take the large area in the south in difficult terrain and against little resistance was more important than the temporary loss of Saraqib.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to hope and pray that someone besides Erdogan, in Ankara, is reading the tea leaves here, and understands - fully - what has to happen, which is a total and complete withdrawal of Turkish troops from Syria, and as immediately as humanly possible.

Angering Russia in this way was one of the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid things Erdogan could have done here, to the point where Moscow believed that the only remedy for Turkey's aggression, was a retaliation of this magnitude.

I would like to hope (and pray) that Edrogan is capable of learning from his mistakes, but am unsure how this will translate into Turkey's future policy on Syria and Russia.

US Losing Its Naval Supremacy

Traditionally, Russia and China are classified as land powers and the United States of America as a sea power. The American nation is a historical heir to England, which for a long time reigned sovereign over the oceans. American geopolitics, therefore, is based on tactics of expansion by the sea, allowing this country to act in areas outside its continent, influencing the whole world and thus guaranteeing its global hegemonic power.

Turkish military carries out massive attack against Syrian Army

Putin is a day late and a ruble short. The Man has repeatedly let the terrorists and their sponsor Turkey off the hook! Very weak!

BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:25 P.M.) – The Turkish military carried out a massive attack against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) last night, as their drones and ground forces launched several strikes on the government’s positions in the Latakia, Hama, Aleppo, and Idlib governorates.

Even NATO is unwilling to touch Turkey’s Idlib mess with a ten-foot pole

is a former US Marine Corps intelligence officer. He served in the Soviet Union as an inspector implementing the INF Treaty, in General Schwarzkopf’s staff during the Gulf War, and from 1991-1998 as a UN weapons inspector. Follow him on Twitter @RealScottRitter

Having been hit by the Syrian Air Force in Idlib, Turkey has called on NATO’s protection, but as much as the alliance would like a fight with Assad and his ally Russia, it’s refused to back Ankara’s questionable adventure.
Turkey engaged NATO in Article 4 consultations, seeking help regarding the crisis in Syria. The meeting produced a statement from NATO condemning the actions of Russia and Syria and advocating for humanitarian assistance, but denying Turkey the assistance it sought.

A failed gamble

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is painfully obvious, that Erdogan did not due his "due dilligence" with NATO, of which Turkey is a member, to sound out potential support for this military misadventure, which is on track to be one of the most miserable epic fails in Turkey's contemporary history, before he decided to send in troops.

The next Turkish Parliamentary elections are scheduled in about 3 years from now. Turkish General Elections Scheduled for 2023.

IF Edrogan keeps writing geopolitical checks his military is unable to cash, this pathologically "bad behaviour" on his part may well sour the Turkish electorate on him; cause the voting public to go back to a Parliamentary system of elections; and find someone else who will care enough about the Turkish people and its military to not put them in harm's way like this.

And now, we have a related story, from rt.com, with the following headline:
Turkey & Syria on brink of WAR in Idlib: How did it come to this?

I am hoping (and praying) that Russia's collective general level head will continue to prevail, but it all depends on how hard Erdogan, and his military, are willing to push back here.

Erdogan has been very much behaving like the human version of a loose cannon, ever since the 2016 attempted coup in Turkey; I am seriously hoping that there has got to be a point, where he has to realize what harm he is bringing to both his people, and his military; but in looking at his current behaviour, relative to Syria, I am not so certain that we are going to see a change in the behaviour which brought Turkey into Syria in the first place.

US Defences Are Incapable of Intercepting Russian, Chinese Missiles, Navy Admiral Admits

The statement was made during a hearing devoted to the US plans to modernise American weapons and to possible ways the US can respond to the new cutting-edge weapons Russia rolled out in last two years.

US Navy Admiral Charles Richard has admitted that existing American air defences were not designed to counter modern hypersonic glide weapons, like the one recently deployed by Russia, and currently developed by China, and hence these weapons "challenge" the US, during an open hearing at the US House Subcommittee on Strategic Forces. He added that the Pentagon even has trouble determining the capabilities of modern weapons, although it still can make a reliable guess on what threat these weapons pose.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So let me get my head wrapped around this; for all the money spent, the US military is still behind the proverbial 8-ball when it comes to weapons development which should be AT LEAST a step ahead of what Russia and China are producing right now?!?

For all the money US taxpayers have forked out to prevent this, it is still, apparently, happening; there should be a public hearing as to why this has happened, and the heads of those companies which have screwed US taxpayers out of the best weapons systems in the world (which we should, absolutely, have by now, with what has been spent on these systems) should be hard time in a non-club Fed prison for a form of treason against the people of the US, not to mention its military.

Draconian?!? Absolutely.

But it will possibly "cure the problem"?!?

I strongly believe that the short answer is, "HELL, yes!!"

Hundreds of Refugees Reportedly Move Towards European Borders Amid Escalation in Idlib

Ankara has linked a new refugee crisis with renewed hostilities in Syria’s Idlib Province, where the Syrian Army has been repelling militant attacks, some of which began under the cover of Turkish artillery fire, according to the Russian Defence Ministry.

Hundreds of refugees coming from Syria, Pakistan, Iran, and Iraq are currently moving towards Turkey’s borders with Europe following reports that Ankara will no longer prevent migrants from crossing them, Turkey’s Anadolu Agency reported. According to the media outlet, these refugees have been moving in large groups on foot and using vehicles via the cities of Istanbul, Edirne, Izmir, and Aydin.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF in fact these reports are true (and Sputnik is not known for pulling punches), the impact on an already immigrant over-saturated Europe, may well be devastating.

Turkey-Russia Tensions Soar After Deadly Syria Strike

The leaders of Russia and Turkey held crisis talks Friday after 33 Turkish soldiers died in a regime air strike in Syria, prompting President Donald Trump to urge an end to the Moscow-backed Syrian offensive against rebel holdouts.

The attack by Syrian forces took place late Thursday in the northwestern province of Idlib, where President Bashar al-Assad is waging a fierce campaign to oust rebels from their last stronghold.

Trump "condemned" the attack on Turkey's troops and joined his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in calling jointly on Russia and Syria to "halt" the Idlib operation, the White House said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, a word please, just in case your "kitchen cabinet" failed to inform you; Idlib is sovereign Syrian territory, which the Syrian and Russian governments are working to take back from foreign -sponsored terrorists, like those Turkey has been supporting, training, funding, and arming.

The country absoflippinglutely in the wrong here, is Turkey,; not Syria, and not Russia; I do not know why you have a problem keeping this fact straight, but it appears that you very much do have a problem, keeping this fact straight.

Turkey needs to leave immediately, to ratchet down tensions here.

33 KIA in Airstrike on Turkish HQ in Syria. Russia Denies Ankara’s Request to Evacuate the Wounded by Air

In any case, the strike was possible because Russia keeps Idlib skies closed to Turkey, and Russia’s attitude was demonstrated sufficiently with the refusal of the Turkish request to allow speedy medical evacuation of the wounded with helicopters, which doubtlessly contributed to more agony and possibly deaths of Turkish soldiers. (An aerial evacuation was allowed earlier this month when Turks were hit by Syrian counter-artillery fire but since then a video emerged of Turkish soldiers firing an anti-aircraft missile at a Russian plane.)
