Risk of Nuclear War Now Highest Since World War 2: UN

The Director of the U.N. Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), Renata Dwan, warned that all states with nuclear weapons are pushing for weapon modernization programs, while arms control regulations are changing or fading.

The Director of the U.N. Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), Renata Dwan, warned that all states with nuclear weapons are pushing for weapon modernization programs, while arms control regulations are changing or fading.

This restructure of nuclear agreements is partly due to strategic competition between China and the U.S, and a new “arms race” between the North American nation and Russia. With disarmament talks stalemated for the past two decades, 122 countries have signed a treaty to ban nuclear weapons, expect states with the weaponized material.

As a result, since 2018, the Doomsday Clock marks two-minutes till midnight, something not seen since 1947.

FLASHBACK - Lawsuit Challenges U.S. “Ambiguity” Toward Israel’s Nuclear Arsenal

In 1958 Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion designated super-lobbyist Abraham Feinberg as the North American coordinator to raise funds for Israel’s clandestine nuclear weapons program. Feinberg was a natural choice. He bundled Israel lobby funds for Democratic presidential campaigns from Harry S Truman to Lyndon B. Johnson. In the 1940s he led the charge to successfully beat back Justice Department attempts to prosecute a huge network of false front organizations illicitly smuggling surplus U.S. WW II weapons and equipment to Jewish fighters in Palestine for Israel’s “War of Independence.” On the atomic front, Feinberg chaperoned U.S. charities channeling hundreds of millions of tax-exempt donations into Israeli research organizations—such as the Weizmann Institute of Science—working on the bomb.

ROBOT WARS: China unveils terrifying new armoured truck which launches swarms of killer drones to attack its enemies

A CHINESE defence firm has unveiled a terrifying new battle truck which can unleash a swarm of killer drones behind enemy lines.

The armoured war machine - based on a Russian Tigr vehicle - can direct the drones so they simultaneously converge on targets and detonate their explosive payloads.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem here is not that the Chinese Weapons Builders have created this technology; the problem is, that it appears that the US does not.

Glass beads littering beaches around Hiroshima are melted down remnants of the city from when it was vaporized by nuclear bomb 'Little Boy' in 1945

Some beaches around Hiroshima are littered with glass beads made from the condensed remains of the destroyed city.

They were formed during the atomic bombing which destroyed the city of Hiroshima when 'Little Boy' was dropped by the US Air Force and detonated with the equivalent force of 15 kilotons of TNT.

The teardrop-shaped beads were created as the city was annihilated and made from the vaporised rubble of Hiroshima itself.

It caused such destruction that the remains were thrown into a superheated cloud that later rained the condensed matter down on the peninsula, where it cooled and sits to this day.

First assessment blames Iran for Middle East ship explosions, official says

An American military team assessing blasts that damaged four commercial ships off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sunday has blamed Iran or Iranian-backed proxies using explosive charges, a source told Fox News on Monday evening.

Each ship had a 5-to-10-foot hole in it, near or just below the water line, a U.S. official told The Associated Press. A Norwegian-flagged vessel, two Saudi oil tankers and a bunkering tanker flagged in Shariah, one of the UAE's seven emirates, all suffered similar damage Sunday.

The UAE asked the U.S. to help investigate the damage, which Gulf officials have characterized as sabotage. UAE's state media said Sunday there had been "no injuries or fatalities on board the vessels" and "no spillage of harmful chemicals or fuel."

The U.S. has warned ships that "Iran or its proxies" could be targeting maritime traffic in the region, and America has moved additional ships and aircraft into the region.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, there is zero surveillance footage in any of these cases, but the US military has already accused Iran of this?!?

Anyone out there remember the firm accusation of President Bush, when he claimed that Iraq had "weapons of mass destruction"?!?

This accusation is on par with that; if the Iranians had really bombed these ships, with the intention of never having them seaworthy again, they would have left NONE of these ships as mildly damaged as they actually are, and would have zotted the heck out of them.

North Korea won’t give up all its nuclear weapons, former Defense Secretary Gates says

Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates said North Korea is unlikely to ever give up all its nuclear weapons, and that President Donald Trump was right to walk away from deal with leader Kim Jong-un in February.

In an interview with CBS that taped on May 10, Gates said North Koreans have come to see some modest nuclear capabilities as “essential to their national survival.”

UK Transports 700 Kg of Highly Enriched URANIUM to US

For years, Dounreay in Scotland, where the UK’s former centre of nuclear fast reactor research and development was located, received nuclear material from abroad for reprocessing. However, London has been flying its stocks across the Atlantic since 2016, when the Nuclear Security Summit took place in Washington, DC.

It has been announced that the UK’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and the US Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) have completed a project designed to transfer around 700 kg of highly enriched uranium (HEU) from northern Scotland to the US for reprocessing.

The batches of radioactive material from the Dounreay site were transported to Wick John O'Groats Airport and sent to the US with Boeing C-17 military transport jets, the BBC reports. The shipments of highly enriched uranium have been delivered to the US since 2016 as part of London’s commitment to the Nuclear Security Summit that took place in Washington that year.

ANALYSTS CONFIRM NORTH KOREA LAUNCHED FIRST BALLISTIC MISSILE SINCE 2017

SOURCE: ZERO HEDGE
Analysts have studied a report from North Korea's Korean Central News Agency, which was accompanied by a few images, and determined that the "projectile" fired by North Korea Saturday morning, was, in fact, a short-range ballistic missile.

In addition to images released by KCNA, independent analysts managed to capture images of the launch.

THE COMPLETE MERCENARY: How Erik Prince Used the Rise of Trump to Make an Improbable Comeback

WHEN ERIK PRINCE arrived at the Four Seasons resort in the Seychelles in January 2017 for his now-famous meetings with a Russian banker and UAE ruler Mohammed bin Zayed, he was in the middle of an unexpected comeback. The election of Donald Trump had given the disgraced Blackwater founder a new opportunity to prove himself. After years of trying and failing to peddle a sweeping vision of mercenary warfare around the world, Erik Prince was back in the game.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Erik Prince is a very interesting character; but we need to ask; is this the face of the American military we want the world to see; mercs, with no real loyalty or care, about who they are hired to kill, as long as they get paid?!?

I would like to hope not.

I would very much like to suggest that President Trump establish a "Department of Peace", to find ways, other than wars, regime changes, and coups, to achieve the country's geopolitical goals without anyone firing a single shot.

The degree to which the practice of wars, informs and dictates American foreign policy, is utterly terrifying to me.

And to put it into perspective, there is no American teenager, aged 17 or 18, who has not seen that the US government appears to be, and has been, in a perpetual state of war, even the abysmally failing wars, like Afghanistan and Yemen.

Yes, I get it, peace through strength and commerce.

But these wars are dead-ending both financial and human capital, and as a government imminently pregnant with an exploding Federal debt, which is around $22 trillion dollars (that we know of), it would seem to make sense for the Federal Government to quit its addiction to wars, and perhaps, even go cold-turkey, should there be no real danger to Americans being caused in that war (like Yemen).

Pompeo to Portray China as a Threat in Major Arctic Policy SpeechWill reject China's claim of being a 'near-Arctic state'

One day after the Pentagon issued a new report dramatically hyping China as a grave threat to the United States, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is said to be planning a major anti-China speech during his visit to Finland on Monday.

Monday’s speech is expected to be a major US policy speech on the Arctic, and territorial claims therein. Pompeo is expected to spin China as threatening the entire Arctic, and will reject Chinese claims to be a “near-Arctic state” because of its interest in using the area as a shipping route.

The focus of Pompeo’s attack on China, however, is likely to be totally distinct from the Arctic, and just a continuation of the flurry of vague allegations that the Pentagon started with in its own report, part of a broader US policy to portray China as a major enemy and threat to American dominance worldwide.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have to wonder; when Pompeo was a kid in elementary school, did he ever get a gold star on his report card in that little section, "Works well with others"?!?!?

Because right now, with the exceptions of Israel and Saudi Arabia, the man appears to be the most consistently disagreeable guy in DC.

These are threats, engineered to get ever-more money for the Pentagon, and arrived at by some very dubious thought processes, most of which have little to no foundation in facts.

And Secretary Pompeo, there is a question which haunts me, and I think my brother and sister Americans deserve a straight answer here: why is the US government objecting to the "Silk Road" concept, rather than joining it, and enabling American companies to trade with Chinese companies, and vise versa?!?

Trading always trumps war, in my world, at least.

How a Standoff With the U.S. Almost Blew Up Israel's Nuclear Program

Throughout the spring and summer of 1963, the leaders of the United States and Israel – President John F. Kennedy and Prime Ministers David Ben-Gurion and Levi Eshkol – were engaged in a high-stakes battle of wills over Israel’s nuclear program. The tensions were invisible to the publics of both countries, and only a few senior officials, on both sides of the ocean, were aware of the severity of the situation

Israel had plutonium core ready to turn into nuke in ’67 war, US journal reveals

In the lead-up to the 1967 Six Day War, Israel hid a plutonium core in an old British-built police station outside the town of Gedera, with plans to turn it into a functioning nuclear bomb if necessary, according to testimony from a former Israeli official who guarded the site, which was published Wednesday.

The article was published as part of a new series on the nuclear aspect of the Six Day War in the Nonproliferation Review, a journal run by the Middlebury Institute of International Studies that describes itself as focusing on the “causes and consequences of the spread of weapons of mass destruction.”

True Size of US Strategic Arsenal Uncovered Despite Pentagon Secrecy

Earlier, the Department of Energy formally rejected a request for information on the size of the US nuclear weapons stockpile by the Federation of American Scientists, breaking with nearly a decade of practice.

The United States has close to 3,800 nuclear warheads,1,300 of which are deployed on ballistic missiles, 300 located at strategic bomber bases across the US, another 150 as tactical nukes at bases across Europe, and 2,050 more in reserve, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists has calculated.

In its 'United States nuclear forces, 2019' report, the non-profit indicated that the US also has approximately 2,385 warheads which are retired and slated to be dismantled before 2030. If the retired warheads are included, the total US nuclear arsenal amounts to approximately 6,185 warheads stored across 24 locations in 11 US states, as well as five European countries.

Pompeo: Helping Saudis Attack Yemen Is In America’s Best Interests

With the Senate planning this week to “process” President Trump’s veto of the War Powers Act challenge to the Yemen War, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo took the reins to try to defend US involvement in Yemen as in America’s best interest.

Pompeo’s argument centered on the idea that the US was obliged to help Saudi Arabia defend itself from retaliatory fights, now that the Saudis had launched a war and provoked that retaliation.

On top of that poor argument for an obligation, Pompeo relied on what the administration seems to believe is the most compelling argument, even if it is wholly based on a lie. He argued that the whole war was Iran’s fault, and not intervening would make Iran happy.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Instead of Secretary of State, Pompeo is actually the US Government's Secretary For Fact-Free Churlish Propaganda or (SFFFCP, for short).

And this guy blames Iran for this senseless, horrific war, where everything the Saudis are doing are war crimes, which the US military and Executive Branches of the US have enabled?!? And no serious commenters on the situation have ever stated that a military victory was possible for the Saudis?!?

And this man was whore enough for the military industrial Complex, that he has lied to Congress about the real use of Saudi Purchased weapons, last September?!?
Pompeo lied to Congress about Yemen to protect arms sales

Congress; please be aware; he lied to you before, to let those weaons sales go through back in September; he is lying to you right now about the "reason" we must keep being complicit in Saudi war crimes in Yemen.

Where in the name of heaven, does Donald Trump find such rapacious bottom feeders, as Bolton and Pompeo?!?

The truth is, it's easy in DC.

Just look for those with a proven track record on their willingness to lie about any country's leadership, to cause the US to go to war against it for those resources, and to conquer other countries which are blessed with intense national resources, as is happening in the Middle East with Iran; in South America, with Venezuela; and in Africa, which also has an abundance of natural resources. The US (sometimes) gets what it wants, and insures that whatever those resources are, that they are only sold in American dollars.

Then, think about the money your government paid to unseat the legally elected President of Ukraine, Yanukovytch; that was 5 billion dollars, US, folks, in 2014 United States spent 5 billion for regime change in Ukraine

Now think about how much more the US government would spend to conquer Iran and/or Venezuela, if they thought they had the best chances for regime change in those countries?!? And how many more American service members will have to die, or be maimed for life, for a potential positive outcome for the US?!?

Venezuela ... has done absolutely nothing to us, and neither has Yemen; Iran makes noises about doing something, but must likely will not do anything against the United States, particularly with Putin advising President Hassan Rouhani on international affairs.

Russia Ready to Discuss New Nuclear Deal With US, China

One day after reports that President Trump was pushing for a new nuclear arms treaty with Russia and China, the Russian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement confirming that they, too, are willing to negotiate on the matter. China has yet to directly respond.

Yesterday’s report suggested that Trump’s primary goal for any treaty was to place new limits on Russia’s nuclear arsenal. Russia’s Deputy FM Sergei Ryabkov said that Russia wants a joint statement of all three nations repudiating any use of nuclear weapons.

Talk of new nuclear negotiations is a surprise after the US unilaterally withdrew from the Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty. Many feared this would usher in an era where disarmament talks just didn’t happen.

New York Times apologizes again for 'offensive' Trump, Netanyahu cartoon that 'included anti-Semitic tropes'

View image on Twitter

New York Times Opinion

We apologize for the anti-Semitic cartoon we published. Here’s our statement.

"We are deeply sorry for the publication of an anti-Semitic political cartoon last Thursday in the print edition of The New York Times that circulates outside of the United States, and we are committed to making sure nothing like this happens again," the opinion section tweeted Sunday.

"Such imagery is always dangerous, and at a time when anti-Semitism is on the rise worldwide, it's all the more unacceptable," continued the apology, which was widely shared on Twitter.

Webmaster's Commentary:

To the editorial staff of the NYT:

Dear all; yes, I understand why you apologised.

But having said that, is there any place at your table, where one can objectively talk about what is really happening between the US and Israel, under President Trump's watch, where sheer logic could never be construed as being "anti-Semitic?!?

Fact: Israel is the largest recipient of US foreign aid.

US Foreign Aid to Israel

the article goes on to state:

This report provides an overview of U.S. foreign assistance to Israel. It includes a review of past
aid programs, data on annual assistance, and analysis of current issues. For general information
on Israel, see CRS Report RL33476, Israel: Background and U.S. Relations, by Jim Zanotti.
Israel is the largest cumulative recipient of U.S. foreign assistance since World War II. To date,
the United States has provided Israel $134.7 billion (current, or noninflation-adjusted, dollars) in
bilateral assistance and missile defense funding. Almost all U.S. bilateral aid to Israel is in the
form of military assistance, although in the past Israel also received significant economic
assistance.
At a signing ceremony at the State Department on September 14, 2016, representatives of the
U.S. and Israeli governments signed a new 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on
military aid covering FY2019 to FY2028. Under the terms of the MOU, the United States pledges
to provide $38 billion in military aid ($33 billion in Foreign Military Financing grants plus
$5 billion in missile defense appropriations) to Israel. This MOU replaces a previous $30 billion
10-year agreement, which runs through FY2018.
Israel is the first international operator of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, the Department of
Defense’s fifth-generation stealth aircraft, considered to be the most technologically advanced
fighter jet ever made. To date, Israel has purchased 50 F-35s in three separate contracts.

With all that money spent, one would think that Israel would be doing everything possible to keep relationships with its neighboring countries stable, and at least, show a little bit of gratitude in that manner to the US government.

Fact: Israel has a real difficulty with "getting along" with most of its neighbors, particularly if they have oil (like Iran), or water(as does Lebanon), and its politicians are consistently screaming at the US to "do something" about their allegedly impossible neighbors, before they "go it alone." (which will only happen when pigs discover they are aerodynamic).

Fact: when Sheldon Adelson gave President Trump all those millions to get elected Adelson reportedly watch the election with Trump, President Trump understood what the quid pro quo was; to declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel (which he did), and second, create a "Middle East Deal" which offered no "right of return" for the Palestinians. The first demand, Netanyahu got; and our current understanding is that Jared Kushner, Trump's son in law, is working on that "deal" for mid-East Peace.

Fact: were I living in Iran right now, I would be very nervous, as President Trump has declared "no waivers" would continue past 2 May for countries which had been buying Iranian oil, in order to attempt to destroy Iran's economy. This includes China, and all the other countries which may not pay attention to Trump's demand. We now have two US carriers in the Mediterranean Sea, allegedly to insure Russia "gets the message" of "no interference" 2 US Navy aircraft carriers are making a statement in the Mediterranean Sea.Color me very nervous about what lengths the US is willing to go, to make that happen.

Fact: if I lived in Syria right now, I would be more than a little bit nervous, because the White House and Pentagon have decided to leave troops here, and there is no definitive pullout schedule which has been released. US keeping +/- 200 troops in Syria.Thinking people have to ask, "Why?!? IS there going to be an attempted "de-cap strike" against Damascus, understanding that Russia's Putin has given Al Assad all the military "muscle power" it needed to have substantially, and pretty successfully, beaten back the (US Trained & funded) jihadis?!?

Fact: were I a Gazan Palestinian right now, I would be very nervous about the lengths Israel is willing to go, to achieve a complete exodus of the Palestinian people (to where, I cannot tell you, because neighboring countries are overflowing with refugees, and cannot take any more), and claim Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, as solely Israeli.

As an American who cares about her country, I am very concerned about the dangerous territory to which the US/Israeli relationship is taking this country. Does it ever concern you, BTW, that the two Middle Eastern men by whom President Trump seems to be so thoroughly fascinated, are the two butchers in the Middle East, Prince bin Salman, the Butcher of Yemen, and Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Butcher of Gaza?!? And please don't tell me, that in this man's "heart of hearts", he hopes for a just and lasting peace between the Israelis and Palestinians; because with everything he has done, in his numerous terms as PM, he has done the polar opposite of attempting to create peace. He doesn't use the word "extermination" when talking about the Palestinians in Gaza, because he knows that the optics would be terrible; but some of his more rabid followers would have absolutely no problem with this.

I cannot foretell where these relationships is taking this country, but I can tell you this; something wicked this way comes.

And were I a betting woman, I would bet that Israel is pushing the US as hard as it thinks it can, to declare the devolution of the US's ongoing economic war in the region into a shooting war against all of its alleged existential enemies; we're talking about a war with Syria (which would, again, most likely include a war with Russia if not Russia and China); war against Iran (which will most likely, involve war with Russia and China)

To the Editors of the NYT, I have just expressed my fact-based opinion on what is going to happen here, and I am hoping that I am dead-wrong; but I have a very clear understanding of what Israel did to the USS Liberty, and then tried to "fake it" by wrongly accusing Egypt of the attack.

"False flag attacks" by both the Israeli and US military, are a common stock-in-trade they both use.

And if you have any members of your families serving the US militarily, please, as best you can, pray for them; because if what I see coming does come to pass, they -and their commanders, and the collective members of the US government - will need it. And I say this because, at this point in the the US's military history, they do not have the money, the troop strength, the manufacturing, or the weaponry to create a successful outcome to a war against either Russia and/or China.

THE SECRET HISTORY OF AMERICA’S DEFEAT IN SYRIA

When the war in Syria was recently declared decisively over, there were few correspondents or witnesses to turn to for a credible look at exactly what happened during eight years of conflict. The questions were many, but I could count on one hand those worth putting them to. Among these was Sharmine Narwani, whose work I have long counted distinctly thorough and honest amid coverage that — in her view as well as mine — hit a new low by way of collapsed professional standards and abandoned ethics. Narwani’s pieces, written for a variety of publications, consistently reflect her hard work on the ground — work nearly no one else did. She is eyes wide open and beholden to no national interest or media slant.

You returned from Syria just last week — this after going in several times last year. The intervening months were important, given the war has just ended. What have you been seeing on the ground?

SECRET UK MILITARY LAB GASSED, KILLED 48,400 ANIMALS IN 7 YEARS – REPORT

Around 48,400 animals, — namely pigs, monkeys, and guinea pigs — were killed in experiments conducted at the secret Porton Down laboratory in Wiltshire between 2007 and 2017, the Sunday Mirror reported. The Ministry of Defence supported the practice as being life-saving for British troops.

Porton Down reportedly tested experimental body armour by blasting animals covered in it with various explosives. It also tested poisonous substances, gases, and nerve agents on animals.

The news was not well received by animal rights groups, with Animal Aid slamming the experiments for causing “extreme suffering and death”, calling them morally unconscionable. The NGO stated that such experiments are unnecessary and noted that the number of killed animals is “alarming”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but 48,000 animals to be "sacrificed" in this manner, appears to be horrifically impossible to justify, unless, of course, the scientists doing these "experiments" happened to be avowed sadists as well.

Trump Eyes Major Nuclear Deal With Russia, China - Reports

The White House is in intense talks on options for the US president to pursue a deal building on the New START Treaty, which expires in 2021, officials have told CNN.

US President Donald Trump is eying a new potential signature foreign policy achievement: a grand nuclear deal with Russia and China, according to CNN.

"The President has made clear that he thinks that arms control should include Russia and China and should include all the weapons, all the warheads, all the missiles", a senior White House official told CNN.

Donald Trump prides himself on being a great dealmaker. “Deals are my art form. I like making deals, preferably big deals”, he has been known to say. Now the US president is said to be publicly hinting that a deal is on his agenda.

China, Russia… ‘we all have to get rid’ of nukes, Trump says amid reports he eyes arms control deal

Donald Trump has called on the US, Russia, and China to reduce their nuclear arsenals amid reports that his administration is planning to propose a landmark arms control deal with Beijing and Moscow.

In an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, the US president said that he welcomed Russia’s efforts to help denuclearize the Korean Peninsula – but that more must be done.

“We want to get rid of the nuclear weapons, we all have to get rid [of them]. Russia has to get rid of them, and China has to get rid of them,” Trump stated.

His comments coincide with reports that the White House is gearing up for an ambitious arms control treaty with Russia and China. The deal, still in its early stages, would impose restrictions on unregulated nuclear weapons and would call on Beijing to join an arms-control pact verifying China’s nuclear capabilities.

US builds nuclear shield to deliver surprise nuclear strike on Russia — General Staff

The United States is deploying missile defense systems near Russia’s borders with the goal of obtaining the potential to deliver a surprise nuclear strike on Russia, First Deputy Chief of the Russian General Staff’s Main Operations Department Lt. Gen.Viktor Poznikhir said on Wednesday.

"The deployment of missile defense systems near our borders creates a powerful strike potential for the US enabling it to deliver a surprise [the attacked party won’t be able to strike in response] missile and nuclear strike on Russia," the general told the Moscow Conference on International Security.

By developing the global missile defense system Washington also seeks to gain the potential to deliver such a strike without a response against any undesirable country, he noted.

The Orchestration of Russophobia Is the Prelude to War

The Russian Embassy in Washington has prepared an accurate 121-page report, THE RUSSIAGATE HYSTERIA: A CASE OF SEVERE RUSSOPHOBIA.https://washington.mid.ru/upload/iblock/3c3/3c3d1e3b69a4c228e99bfaeb5491ecd7.pdf

Everyone should read this report. It documents the fake news, lies, violations of diplomatic standards and international law, and gratuitous aggressive actions taken against Russia during the period beginning May 18, 2016 and continuing through the issuance of the Mueller Report.

Without explicitly saying so, the report shows that neither the US government nor the American media has a nanoparticle of integrity. Both are criminal organizations that are willing to risk war with Russia in their pursuit of narrow politicized agendas.

This is important information for Americans and the rest of the world to have. Every person, every government and every private organization that supports Washington’s Russophobic policies is contributing to the growing threat of nuclear war.

How Do You Prefer Your Empire: Coarse or Polite?

It amounts to a matter of taste; how you prefer the emperor to behave. Such is political life in the late-stage American Empire. Both major parties offer nothing but the same – hyper-military interventionism and the quest for global hegemony – in the charade of choice each election cycle. The question, as 2020 approaches, is whether we can expect more of the same from the Democratic and Republican candidates for president. Of course, the use of this label, emperor, will undoubtedly make many a reader squirm and/or dismiss this piece.

U.S. ARRESTS FORMER MARINE CONNECTED TO NORTH KOREA EMBASSY RAID IN SPAIN

A former US Marine was arrested in connection with an "especially violent" raid on the North Korean embassy in Madrid, Spain.

Christopher Ahn - a member of a group which seeks the overthrow of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, was expected to be arraigned on Friday in a Los Angeles federal court, according to Reuters, citing a law enforcement official and a source close to the group.

According to El Pais and El Confidencial, the group is tied to the CIA - however there has been no corroboration of this outside of their reporting. The CIA has denied any involvement, however Spanish government sources say their response was "unconvincing."

El Pais called the attack "especially violent."

BRZEZINSKI'S WARNING TO AMERICA

As Washington’s grip on global affairs continues to loosen and more countries reject the western development model, the current order will progressively weaken clearing the way for a multipolar world badly in need of a new security architecture. Western elites, who are unable to accept this new dynamic, continue to issue frenzied statements expressing their fear of a future in which the United States no longer dictates global policy.
At the 2019 Munich Security Conference, Chairman Wolfgang Ischinger, underscored many of these same themes. Here’s an excerpt from his presentation:

“The whole liberal world order appears to be falling apart – nothing is as it once was… Not only do war and violence play a more prominent role again: a new great power confrontation looms at the horizon. In contrast to the early 1990s, liberal democracy and the principle of open markets are no longer uncontested….

‘Where is justice?’ Vietnam demands Monsanto pay victims of US Agent Orange chemical warfare

Vietnam is again seeking justice for the victims of Agent Orange, inspired by the multimillion-dollar verdicts against Monsanto in California. The biotech firm had supplied the US military with the chemical during the Vietnam War.
The Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange (VAVA) has written a letter to a US court asking that it restart a class-action lawsuit by Agent Orange victims against American chemical firms, including Monsanto, which the Eastern District Court of New York dismissed in 2004, claiming a “lack of evidence” and asserting that “herbicide spraying.. did not constitute a war crime pre-1975.”

NORTH KOREA SAYS IT TESTED A NEW WEAPON BUT WON’T SAY WHAT IT WAS

North Korea is flexing its muscles. On Thursday, the nation announced that it had test-launched a new “tactical guided weapon” — but kept the details vague.

The weapon is unlikely to be a long-range ballistic missile that could jeopardize peace talks, according to the Associated Press. Rather, given the fact that the announcement came with new demands for ongoing negotiations with the U.S., the tests were likely intended as a display of military strength.

Guessing Game
South Korean experts suspect that the new weapon was some sort of cruise missile, per the AP‘s attempt to learn more. Had the weapon been a longer-range missile that could pose a threat to the U.S. or other nations, then North Korea may have put at risk its ongoing effort to lift sanctions that other countries have imposed on it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What will be key and critical here, is how President Trump understands what has been done, and where this may be going, in terms of denuclearization dialogue with Kim Jun Ung.

But there is one thing on which he and I most likely agree, and appreciate, and that is how "Wreck-it Mike Pompeo" is behaving right now.'

This is the result you get when you appoint a Dominonist as your Secretary of State.

These folks have a core belief that the more wars countries create, the sooner Jesus will make his Second Coming.

Rapture Christians Plan to Trigger an Apocalypse

The article goes on to state:

"A new ideology in the White House".

In the Trump White House, a weekly bible study group calls its brand of faith “historical evangelicalism.” Biblical scholars say the group shares the “end of times” message of “Rapture” theologians in its statement of faith and founder Ralph Drollinger’s own published lessons.

The bible study group is run by Capitol Ministries, an organization with the stated mission “to teach God’s Word and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with state legislators, judges, and constitutional officers.” Capitol Ministries supporters include ten members of Trump’s cabinet, including in addition to Pompeo, labor secretary Alex Acosta and housing secretary Ben Carson according to the Capitol Ministries website. Drollinger, a UCLA basketball player-turned politician-turned-preacher, has also been holding weekly bible study groups with dozens of Congress members since 2010."

Folks, I do not know how you feel about having a Secretary of State, whose religious eshatology commends him to "grease the skids" for the worst global catastrophe ever, because it will be the event which will foreshadow the 2nd coming of Christ, but color me very nervous about this.

In looking at Pompeo's foreign policy, one can see how, in his mind, creating wars against Biblical enemies, and others, like Iran, Venezuela, North Korea, and Yemen, makes perfect sense to him; after all, it's hastening the second coming of Jesus, right?!?

And I have to wonder; what will happen to these Dominionists, if the wars destroy all life on earth, but there is no second coming of Jesus?!?

North Korea wants Pompeo removed from nuclear talks

Foreign ministry describes the US secretary of state as 'reckless' and says it wants him replaced by another official.

North Korea wants United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo replaced with someone "more careful and mature" in talks over its banned nuclear programme, a senior official told state media, hours after the country announced a missile test.

Describing Pompeo as "reckless" the foreign ministry said a summit in Vietnam earlier this year showed that talks could go wrong "whenever Pompeo pokes his nose in".

The April meeting in Hanoi between Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump collapsed after the US president reportedlygave Kim a document demanding that North Korea transfer its nuclear arsenal and weapons fuel to the US.

The model proposed was one that Pompeo and US National Security Adviser John Bolton had supported.

FINANCIAL TYRANNY: AMERICA HAS BECOME A PAY-TO-PLAY EXERCISE IN FASCISM

SOURCE: JOHN WHITEHEAD VIA THE RUTHERFORD INSTITUTE
If you drive a car, I’ll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I’ll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I’ll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I’ll tax your feet.

Don’t ask me what I want it for
If you don’t want to pay some more
‘Cause I’m the taxman, yeah, I’m the taxman…
And you’re working for no one but me.
— George Harrison, “Taxman

“We the people” have become the new, permanent underclass in America.

We get taxed on how much we earn, taxed on what we eat, taxed on what we buy, taxed on where we go, taxed on what we drive, and taxed on how much is left of our assets when we die, and yet we have no real say in how the government runs, or how our taxpayer funds are used.

Case in point: Lawmakers across the country have been acting as fronts for corporations, sponsoring more than 10,000 model laws written by corporations, industry groups and think tanks such as the American Legislative Exchange Council.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This transition into Fascism, has become almost painfully complete beyond bearing; what used to be The United States of America, once thought to be "the land of the free and the home of the brave", has rapidly devolved into "The land... of the cowed And the home... of the surveilled."

And I am gently asking, no, begging our readers and listeners to start to preparing themselves, for what looks like a very rocky patch ahead, both for We the People; this country; and our world.

Folks, I don't want to be crowned "Mrs. Chicken Little" of Oahu; and I am absolutely no psychic.

But looking at the world situation, for me, there is one, central, and unvarnished truth; that the more you prepare for a massively bad situation, no matter what that might be, and when, this be cannot possibly be worse than having done no prep whatsoever.

I am seeing a number of hot spots around the world which are on a razor's edge from triggering massive regional conflicts that could quickly become world wars, if allowed to spin out of control.

But the question I have to ask now, is, which conflict zones will be allowed/ abetted in their metastatic melt-down, courtesy of US foreign policy, to become full-on wars, and perhaps, and perpetual, in their duration??

This is something I hope every American citizen (including President Trump; Mike Pompeo, and John Bolton) is thinking about.

The ratcheting up of world tensions by the fractious, hubristic, bellicose, and catastrophically unreasonable demands placed against countries the US government doesn't particularly like, is not doing anything to begin to create the calm, reasonable environment, in which good faith negotiations can grow, and thrive.

Unfortunately, I see the current ratcheting up of international tensions by the US government as a very intense indication that the US government will be going to war against (take your pick:) Syria; Iran; Venezuela; China; and a re-invasion of Iraq, as they are very unhappy with the US troop presence in Iraq.

And even more stunningly important, these countries which the US government is shunning, both economically, and militarily, immediately understood that what they had to do, to get around the US's tariffs.

And that was to create a coalition, where agreements could be made, to buy merchandise and services from each other, but using several software packages which will, most probably, will wind up consolidated.

So what has been brilliantly achieved here, is the introduction of a software platform which is capable of bypassing SWIFT, and allowing merchants, globally, to use their own software packages instead.

Richard E. Lugar: Body of Evidence Suggests New US Biological Warfront Opening

We know that the Richard E. Lugar Centre in Tbilisi is actually a biological weapons lab. It has always been assumed that the US Department of Defense took over this facility, alongside a string of others in the former Soviet Union, for offensive purpose, and that the “scientific research” into animal and human diseases it claims to be carrying out is merely a front for developing new biological strains, viruses and bacteria, and then testing them on the Georgian population and the agricultural industry, without asking for consent, and even developing new generation vaccines and cures which are often experimental, naturally donated or supported by the US Department of Defence and German medical research facilities.

US Will 'Never' Allow Saudi Arabia to Become Nuclear Power - Pompeo

The United States will never allow Saudi Arabia to become a nuclear power and threaten its security and that of Israel, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview on Friday.

"We will never write a $150 billion check to the Saudis and hand them over the capacity to threaten Israel and the United States with nuclear weapons. Never", Pompeo said in an interview with CBS News.

The $150 billion figure is a reference to the Iran nuclear agreement negotiated by the administration of President Barack Obama.

Poland's Former Army Chief Floats US Pre-Emptive Nuclear Strike On Russia

Poland's Former Army Chief Floats US Pre-Emptive Nuclear Strike On Russia

One of Poland's top former military commander's who led the country's Land Forces until 2009, General (ret.) Waldemar Skrzypczak, has made stunning remarks on the nature of the "Russian threat" to Europe and the readiness of western allies to deploy nuclear weapons in any future conflict.

Alarmingly, his recent remarks during an interview with Polish media conglomerate Wirtualna Polska this week likely reflect powerful and hawkish elements of the Polish military establishment who along with Skrzypczak now see Poland as a bulwark against "aggression from the East." The retired general imagined a future scenario of conflict where a US nuclear strike would be welcomed and necessary as "the most reasonable response".

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but has this gentleman gone completely, barking mad, to make such a suggestion?!?

There is nothing either reasonable, or sane, about a decision to use a nuclear bomb; and a first strike capability, makes the optics of such an attack one of the most morally wretched moves I could think of.

So I would like to politely point out to General Waldemar Skrzypczak, that at this point in human civilization (if one can call humans "civilized" which is sometimes a stretch), that what the world needs right now, are hard-one, practical negotiations between the world's neighbors, independent political bodies, and quasi-military organisations ( like NATO) to ratchet down geopolitical tension, and start working on good faith, relationship-building efforts.

I would like to strongly caution against war as being the preferred "weapon of choice" with which governments frequently attempt to resolve their geopolitical differences; because at the end of the day, someone is going to do something so pig-headedly, ham-fisted stupid, that there will be no way back, and we have made something of this earth which is inimical to to bringing back any life on this planet whatosever.

US must choose between Turkey and terrorists’: Ankara slaps Pence with counter-ultimatum

Turkey’s vice president said his US counterpart must choose between an alliance with a loyal NATO partner or siding with terrorists, after Mike Pence issued an ultimatum for Ankara to pick its F-35 jets over Russian S-400 systems.
“The United States must choose. Does it want to remain Turkey’s ally or risk our friendship by joining forces with terrorists to undermine its NATO ally’s defense against its enemies?” Vice President Fuat Oktay tweeted, in response to Mike Pence’s demands.

The Turkish official did not make clear what “terrorists” he was talking about. Ankara is at odds with Washington over the military support it provides to Syrian Kurdish militias which are designated as terrorist organizations in Turkey.

That aside, self-exiled Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen, whose entity Turkey accuses of plotting the 2016 coup attempt, has found a safe haven in the US which also poisons relations between the two NATO allies.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It appears that Pence has fully accepted his position as the Vice"merchant of death in Chief", when it comes to hawking US weapons systems other countries really don't want to buy.

But that he threatened Turkey in this very public way, is not going to get him any favors from Turkey, which may be thinking seriously about resigning their NATO membership, and that really poses a problem for NATO.

Because of it bordering both Europe and Central Asia, straddling the Black Sea and Mediterranean Seas, along with bordering Bulgaria; Iran; Syria; Cypress; Armenia and Georgia, Turkey is strategically vital to NATO's operations.

And I have to wonder; after a not so lustrous showing in Turkey's general elections, will NATO decide that Turkey needs a "regime change"?!? Were I Edrogan, I would want to think about this very, very carefully.

Netanyahu, Israel's 'King Bibi', in quest for fifth term

Jerusalem (AFP) - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's long domination of Israeli politics has earned him the nickname "King Bibi" but he now faces the twin risks of a strong political challenger in an April 9 election and possible indictment for corruption.

Should he win again for a fifth term in office, Netanyahu will be on track to surpass Israel's founding father David Ben-Gurion's record of more than 13 years in office.

But opinion polls show Netanyahu's right-wing Likud locked in a close battle with a centrist alliance led by former armed forces chief of staff Benny Gantz.

The attorney general has announced his intention to indict Netanyahu on fraud, bribery and breach of trust charges pending a hearing, which will be held after the election.

Netanyahu is not legally required to resign if indicted, only if convicted with all appeals exhausted, but political pressure would likely be intense.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Should Netanyahu get re-elected, this is bad news for Israelis, Palestinians, and the world in general.

These corruption charges are not going away, no matter how Netenyahu tries to minimize them as "a misunderstanding".

He is now a cornered, politically wounded animal; and both people, and animals are at their nastiest when they are both cornered, and wounded.

Today is 5 April; the Israeli General Elections are this Tuesday, 9 April.

I wonder just what kind of a stunt he will pull, to try to create in a "further misdirection " away from those charges. And heaven knows, there are opportunities abounding in terms of what he might do, like a strike into Syria; the re-taking of Gaza at gunpoint; or an invasion of Lebanon.

Just color me very concerned about this coming weekend, and what he may try to do to get the Israeli voting public, voting for him, rather than Gantz.

US DENIES VISA TO ICC CHIEF PROSECUTOR, UNHAPPY WITH HER PROBING AMERICAN WAR CRIMES IN AFGHANISTAN

Washington has annulled the entry visa of Fatou Bensouda, chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, after the State Department vowed to shield Americans from “unjust prosecutions” of possible war crimes in Afghanistan.

“We can confirm that the US authorities have revoked the prosecutor’s visa for entry into the US,” Bensouda’s office told Reuters in an email. However, the move should not restrict her travels to the UN headquarters in New York City.

Over the last two years, the Gambian lawyer has been probing US-led war crimes in Afghanistan but has not yet opened a formal investigation into alleged atrocities conducted over the last 18 years. For now, the preliminary inquiry remains in Pre-Trial Chamber, even though Bensouda found a “reasonable basis to believe that war crimes and crimes against humanity have been committed in connection with the armed conflict in Afghanistan.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is a link to this lady's CV: Fatou Bensouda, Judge at the International Criminal Court

So, IF everything we have been doing in Afghanistan was moral, stable, and the us military are not killing people indiscriminately, what the hell is Pompeo afraid of?!?

The reality on the ground here, must be pretty horrific, for him to deny this lady a visa.

When I was a kid growing up, I read about how the USA was the greatest country in the world; but when I got into Junior College, I had to revise what I thought about this country; I got ... awakened, at that point.

Many of my young friends wound up in Vietnam, as "cannon fodder" for this insane and immoral war, which allowed a lot of military equipment get "eaten up", so the military industrial complex could sell our military more stuff.

Many of those friends didn't make it back, or emotionally, didn't make it all the way back; one, in fact, committed suicide when he got back to the States.

Pompeo's refusal to grant this lady a visa, is pretty condemning evidence, that much of what she thought had happened in Afghanistan, but didn't quite have the evidence for, is damningly true.

And what else is damningly true, is that the United States of America, has devolved into "the land of the cowed... and the home of the surveilled."

The US has become "War Crimes R Us", as indicated by the US moves against Afghanistan; Iraq; Libya; Somalia, Yemen, and more recently, Venezuela.

All those who are now citizens of the Unhinged, Surveilled State of America, are citizens of a country which commits war crimes with impunity.

I don't know how that makes you feel, when this realization hits; but frankly, from my perspective, it really ... bites.

As a kid, I never believed that the US could create the amount of mayhem and destruction internationally that it has; now, I know better.

So, what do we do?!?

Violence is never the answer, and those in our military and beyond, will most probably obey their orders, when told to "exterminate American citizens with extreme prejudice."

We need to have a peaceful, honest conversation with each other, and those who allegedly represent us in Congress.

We tell them, logically, and rationally, how these wars are killing our economy, and preventing this country from improving its infrastructure, which is crumbling as I type this.

And we tell them, gently, that we will be looking, very analytically, at their voting records, when it comes to war-related issues, and if they are incapable of pulling away from the warmongers, the next time they are up for re-election, they will not win it.

At the end of the day, these are the only choices we have left right now; but we have to exercise them collectively, or the US government will just brush us off.

Brink Of War: Pakistan On High Alert, Indian Military Ready To Strike

The situation at the LoC (Line of Control) between India and Pakistan remains critical, as both countries are ready for an all-out conflict, reported Sputnik.

"There is a difficult situation with India. We wish for de-escalation and are taking steps for this. The situation like the prime minister [Imran Khan] said remains on alert", Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesman Dr. Muhammad Faisal said in a television report earlier this month.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday held meetings with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and military commanders, over its "readiness to initiate war against Pakistan," India TV News reported.

Saudi Nuclear Facility Near Completion According To Satellite Photos

Saudi Arabia has nearly completed its first nuclear reactor according to satellite photos of the facility published by GoogleEarth, which reveal a "columnar vessel that will contain atomic fuel," according to Bloomberg.

Located in the southwest corner of the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology in Riyadh, the new facility has raised concerns in the West - as the Saudis have yet to sign up to the international framework of rules adhered to by other nuclear powers in order to prevent civilian atomic programs aren't used to develop weapons. Nuclear fuel providers, meanwhile, cannot legally supply the new reactor until modern surveillance arrangements have been reached with the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Dear LORD, tell me no!!! And President Trump is ready to sign off on a transfer of nuclear technology here?!?

President Trump Rushing to seel Saudi Arabia Nuclear Technology

Mr. President, forgive me, but of all the ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid things you could do in your Presidency to date, this one is most probably one of the worst, and most vile things that you could have possibly promised Saudi Arabia and it's leadership.

President Trump, I assure you that no matter the promises the Butcher of Yemen has made to you, your BFF Saudi Prince Mohammed Ben Salman, about signing on to norms and protocols, and signing the NNPT (which, BTW, Iran has done, but, of course, not Israel), you, in this action, are signing the death warrants of potentially thousands of people in the Middle East and beyond.

Please do not think that once they have the technology, that Saudi scientists are NOT going to be creating nuclear weapons, rather than nuclear energy with which to run their country.

I stand gobsmacked and amazed at your total blindness in not seeing this, sir; this is an horrific idea, writ large.

UN Nuclear Watchdog Could Be in North Korea Within Weeks of a Deal

While diplomacy seems to be slowing down in recent weeks, there are still high hopes that a peace deal with North Korea is possible, and that this may include denuclearization, even if it isn’t the US version which requires Kim to give the US all the weapons directly.

The UN’s nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), is all for that idea, and said on Tuesday that they are fully prepared to act as the monitor for any nuclear deal that might get reached.

IAEA Director Amano Yukiya tod the UN Security Council that the agency could have inspectors back in North Korea within a matter of weeks if a deal came into effect that would allow them to go there.

Amano said he believes the IAEA is the only body equipped to carry out the job at all. This may not sit well with the Trump Administration, as the IAEA has repeatedly confirmed Iran is in compliance with that nuclear deal, despite the US withdrawing from the pact and falsely accusing Iran of non-compliance.

Webmaster's Commentary:

North Korea might be open to denuclearizing, but probably NOT with an agreement with the United States; Kim Jung Un understands perfectly that when treaties are made by a high ranking operative of the US, let's say, by President Obama, they can be just as easily be tossed out the window by an incoming President with a different take on that treaty, as President Trump has done with Iran.

And Amanos last statement, is perfectly on the mark, in light of the fact that the IAEA has done its inspections, and found Iran perfectly within compliance of the P5+1 agreement.

THE U.S. MILITARY IS HIRING HACKERS TO KILL SMALL DRONES

The U.S. Navy is hiring a new team of hackers, engineers, and scientists to find ways to stop swarms of commercial drones.

Drones are causing problems for militaries around the world, and the Navy wants to make sure it can prevent more issues as the technology gets more sophisticated, according to Defense One — a chilling glimpse of the future of counter-insurgent warfare.

ARMS RACE
Off-the-shelf drones can already disrupt airports and be used as makeshift bombs, and the military has taken note of the threat, developing lasers and digital tools to counter the emerging threat.

The Navy is now joining forces with the Army on an anti-drone project called JYN (named after, yes, a “Star Wars” character). According to a memo reviewed by Defense One, Navy leadership sees anti-drone efforts as a crucial step to stay on top of new technological weaponry.

KEEPING PACE

Webmaster's Commentary:

It sounds as though the US military is squarely behind in the development of this anti-drone technology, and - yet again - in spite of the massive budgets it receives, is having to play "catch-up" here.

SPAIN NOT SATISFIED WITH CIA ANSWERS ON EMBASSY BREAK-IN

The cast of characters will be familiar to observers of secret intelligence operations.

The embassy burglars sought information, a la Watergate. Unlike Watergate, they came by day. They invaded the Embassy in a quiet residential neighborhood, assaulted the staff, tied people up, and demanded computers and files.

A BBC report says they were especially interested in former ambassador to Madrid, Kim Hyok-chol, a confidante of Kim Jong-un.

He was a natural target for those seeking intelligence about North Korea’s nuclear program. In February Thae Yong-ho, a former North Korean diplomat who defected to South Korea in 2016, described him as nuclear expert.

“At a very young age, Kim Hyok Chol was placed on the task force that wrote the drafts for North Korea’s nuclear strategy documents at its foreign ministry,” Thae told reporters at a news conference in Seoul.

As usual, Centcom offered no casualty data or any details of who was hit, or who was even the intended target. Bayda is known as a major haven for al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) but strikes into the province aren’t necessarily productive to that US air war.

The reason Centcom discussed the matter at all seems to have been to clarify that this was part of an anti-al-Qaeda campaign, and not in any way related to the Saudi invasion of Yemen. Despite that, Centcom says that the operation was coordinated with the Saudi-backed government.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, I am urging you, please; stop the madness of US militarily-enabled Saudi war crimes in Yemen.

I find it very distressing, sir, that 2 of your BFFs in the Middle East, are the Butcher of Yemen (Prince Mohammed bin Salman) and the Butcher of Gaza (Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu.

This is not something that can EVER be won militarily, but it has to be ended with diplomacy.

And yes, I know that may not be your strong suite; but sir, there have been far too many non-coms, (women, children, infants, and the medically fragile elderly)have been assassinated, or maimed for life.

My ultimate concern here, although the weapons companies have profited immensely from these wars, that history will not remember you as the Merchant of Death in Chief, for your deciding to send more US military assets, and sell more bombs to the Saudis, into Yemen.

Please, think about it, sir.

Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna Calls for Bipartisan Coalition to Work with Trump on Ending Foreign Wars: ‘I Think We’re All on the Same Team’ As Americans

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), a progressive Democrat who is the co-chairman of the 2020 Democrat presidential campaign for Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders, told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview that he hopes a bipartisan coalition comes together to work with President Donald Trump to end a number of wars and U.S. military conflicts worldwide.
Ro Khanna argued that if the United States stops its backing of Saudi Arabia in Yemen’s civil war, finally ends the war in Afghanistan, withdraws troops from Syria once and for all, resists temptations by some to get militarily involved in Venezuela, and completes successful peace negotiations with North Korea, then the United States could better invest resources wasted abroad into rebuilding America’s infrastructure.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think this Representative's ideas on this are absolutely terrific; unfortunately, with so many Congressional representatives, from both sides of the aisle, being invested in, or backed by, the military industrial complex, I don't know if he will be able to make this one "fly".

The question is, how many of these manufacturing companies could be re-tooled so quickly to make peace-centric items that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to do?!?

Think: the mythical hero in Iron Man, Tony Stark who, when he understands just what his companies' weapons are doing to real people, wants to shut Stark Industries down, and have the place retooled to make peace-centric products, only to get blind-sided by the business partner, who wants to get him out of the way, permanently?!?

Representative Khanna, this is where you and your team have to be very inventive, transparent, and very positive, to demonstrate how this could be done.

NASA: INDIA MISSILE TEST COULD THREATEN ISS

Nasa has called India's destruction of a satellite a "terrible thing" that could threaten the International Space Station (ISS).

The space agency's chief, Jim Bridenstine, said that the risk of debris colliding with the ISS had risen by 44% over 10 days due to the test.

However he said: "The international space station is still safe. If we need to manoeuvre it we will."

India is the fourth country to have carried out such a test.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the test - Mission Shakti - with great fanfare on 27 March, saying it had established India as a "space power".

In an address to employees, Mr Bridenstine sharply criticised the testing of such anti-satellite (ASAT) weapons.

He said that Nasa had identified 400 pieces of orbital debris and was tracking 60 pieces larger than 10cm in diameter. Twenty-four of those pieces pose a potential risk to the ISS, he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Neither India, nor the world, is really more safe, after the explosion of this rocket.

What would make India, and the region, more safe, would be a massive marathon set of meetings with Pakistani officials,to ratchet down the tensions here, and give the people of Kashmir, the very -long awaited referendum on its status.

Of course....those actions would be logical.

‘The Lord Is at Work’: How Top US Diplomat’s Religion Shapes US Foreign Policy

In using his own version of Christianity to create US foreign policy, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has raised fears on Capitol Hill as to the influence of evangelical beliefs on the administration of a nuclear superpower.

"I am confident that the lord is at work here," stated Pompeo, regarding the history of Judaism, during an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network earlier in March, even as the influence of evangelism in the American government has been seen to be on the rise, according to a report in The New York Times.

Pompeo's beliefs, similar to those of US Vice President Mike Pence and former President George HW Bush, make no apology for using a Christian belief system to justify foreign policy moves — often within the same sentence — indicating the extent that an evangelical approach to American diplomacy could lead to war with other nations whose populations adhere to different faiths.

ERIC ZUESSE: “TRUMP THREATENS NUCLEAR WAR IF RUSSIA PROTECTS VENEZUELA”

On March 27th, US President Donald Trump said that “Russia has to get out” of Venezuela, and that “All options are on the table” if Russia refuses to withdraw from Venezuela the protection it has recently provided to Venezuela’s elected Government, which Trump is attempting to overthrow, by an illegal coup. And Vice President Mike Pence, on the same day, said “Nicolás Maduro is a dictator with no legitimate claim to power, and it is the policy of the United States of America, at the direction of President Donald Trump, that Nicolás Maduro must go.” The United States is therefore trying to do to Maduro what Barack Obama did to Victor Yanukovich in Ukraine in 2014, and to Muammar Gaddaffi in Libya in 2011, and tried to do to Bashar Assad after 2011 in Syria, and what George W. Bush did in 2003 to Saddam Hussein in Iraq.

Trump Admin Complementing Israeli Effort to Give Nuclear Weapons to Saudi Arabia

U.S. President Donald Trump’s energy secretary, Rick Perry, has secretly approved the sale of nuclear power technology and assistance to Saudi Arabia, Reuters revealed this week. Saudi Arabia is reportedly attempting to construct at least two nuclear power plants as part of its effort to diversify its energy sector and its economy as a whole. As part of this plan it has accepted bids from Russia, South Korea and the U.S. for the lucrative contract. Perry’s approval is known as a Part 810 authorization, which allows energy companies to begin the process of planning and starting preliminary work in anticipation of the closing of a formal deal in the future.

While the Saudi proposals are presented as civilian and do not mention nuclear weaponry, U.S. approval and sale of nuclear technology has been seen by many as a prelude to the development of a Saudi nuclear weapon, which could potentially spark a nuclear arms race in the region. Riyadh has long coveted atomic weaponry>>>

FLASHBACK - Challenging the secret "Israel Nuclear Weapons Gag Order" WNP-136

IRmep has filed a 39-page federal lawsuit (PDF) challenging the secrecy of a gag order—WNP-136 (PDF)—that forbids all U.S. government agency employees and contractors from discussing Israel's nuclear weapons program.

The classification bulletin, which took effect on September 6, 2012, forbids covered persons from making any comment on U.S. government information or information in the public domain about Israel's nuclear weapons program. The classification bulletin's first known use was against former Los Alamos National Laboratory nuclear policy specialist James Doyle after he wrote the following sentence in an article titled "Why Eliminate Nuclear Weapons?" which had been security cleared by his employer and published by the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

STRATCOM Commander Wants to Put Low Yield Nuclear Missiles on U.S. Submarines

If the U.S. opts to develop low-yield nuclear missiles, expect the Navy to deploy these weapons as part of the nation’s undersea nuclear deterrent, the commander of U.S. Strategic Command told lawmakers Thursday.

If developed, the U.S. low-yield nuclear weapons would fall within limits set by the New START nuclear arms treaty, Air Force Gen. John Hyten, commander of U.S. Strategic Command, told the House Armed Services strategic forces subcommittee. New START, signed in 2010 by the U.S. and the Russian Federation, caps the number of nuclear warheads each nation deploys.

“We’ll actually remove big weapons from the submarines and put small ones in,” Hyten said. “We’re going to have still the same number weapons, they just going to give us a smaller yield. But we think that smaller yield actually gives us a better chance to deter our primary adversary.”

US says it won't rule out nuclear first strike, because allies wouldn't trust it otherwise

A Pentagon official has said that the US will retain the right to carry out a nuclear strike in response to a conventional attack. A 'no-first-use' policy would erode US allies' belief that they are protected, he said.
Washington has no plans to reverse its policy of "no first use" of nukes, which means it can bomb its adversaries with nuclear weapons under "extreme circumstances," Deputy Undersecretary of Defense David Trachtenberg said in his prepared remarks to the Senate Armed Service Committee hearing on Thursday.

Trachtenberg claimed that if the US changes its take on the issue, which he described as "constructive ambiguity," it "would undermine US extended deterrence and damage the health of our alliances because it would call into question the assurance that the United States would come to the defense of allies in extreme circumstances." This uncertainty might prompt these countries to arm themselves with nuclear weapons, he said.

PENTAGON SAYS ALL OF GOOGLE’S WORK ON DRONES IS EXEMPT FROM THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT

IN SEPTEMBER 2017, Aileen Black wrote an email to her colleagues at Google. Black, who led sales to the U.S. government, worried that details of the company’s work to help the military guide lethal drones would become public through the Freedom of Information Act. “We will call tomorrow to reinforce the need to keep Google under the radar,” Black wrote.

According to a Pentagon memo signed last year, however, no one at Google needed worry: All 5,000 pages of documents about Google’s work on the drone effort, known as Project Maven, are barred from public disclosure, because they constitute “critical infrastructure security information.”

One government transparency advocate said the memo is part of a recent wave of federal decisions that keep sensitive documents secret on that same basis — thus allowing agencies to quickly deny document requests.

FLASHBACK - Death by defoilant, US war on the environment

“Not only crop destruction, but US policies of extensive bombing, defoliation, and relocation of people from the countryside seem clearly to fall within the definition of crimes against humanity and war crimes,” wrote the Stanford Biology Group in a report entitled The Destruction of Indochina.

As part of a deliberate campaign of environmental destruction during its war against Vietnam, the US sprayed the countryside with herbicides containing carcinogenic chemicals to destroy tropical forest foliage and agricultural crops. The objectives of this diabolical program, which perhaps should be called “death by defoliant,” were threefold: first, to deprive the Vietnamese resistance fighters of the National Liberation Front (NLF) of hiding places and cover; second, to starve them into surrender by wiping out their food supply; and third, to drive rural peasants to urban areas controlled by the US-backed regime in an attempt to decimate popular support for the NLF.

BLOOMBERG’S ARMSMAKER-FUNDED COLUMNIST WANTS YOU TO KNOW: MILITARY SPENDING IS WOKE

Progressives are told to love the Pentagon budget (Bloomberg, 3/17/19) by a pundit whose connection to the military/industrial complex isn’t disclosed.

You may not know it, but bloated Pentagon budgets are actually “progressive.” Or so says a recent opinion piece in Bloomberg News (3/17/19), “Progressives Should Learn to Love the Pentagon Budget,” by Hal Brands.

Bloomberg identifies Brands as the “Henry Kissinger Distinguished Professor at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, and senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments.” “Kissinger” is ominous enough, but surely Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments is some innocuous, wonky academic institution, no?

In a piece explicitly defending bloated military budgets, however, perhaps it would be useful to know what exactly the “Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments” is.

Empire of Absurdity: Recycled Neocons, Recycled Enemies

There are times when I wish that the United States would just drop the charade and declare itself a global empire. As a veteran of two imperial wars, a witness to the dark underside of America’s empire-denial, I’ve grown tired of the equivocation and denials from senior policymakers. The U.S. can’t be an empire, we’re told, because – unlike the Brits and Romans – America doesn’t annex territories outright, and our school children don’t color its colonies in red-white-and-blue on cute educational maps.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is a simple formula, to which the US government adheres quite rigidly, even though few are really paying attention, because this is the last gasp of the US empire in decline.

Demonize the leadership of the country whose resources you want to expatriate; create regime change to a more US-centric government; insure that those resources are only sold in US dollars.

Wash; rinse; repeat.

But the problems with empires which are about to dissolve, is that the people making these decisions seem to get recycled again and again; John Bolton, as President Trump's Security advisor, was a recklessly horrific choice. Mike Pompeo as Secretary of State has NEVER met a specific war he didn't want to see unjoined by US forces.

And the outcome of all these military misadventures has been the following;

The complete destruction of Iraq, in order to expropriate its oil production
The coming destruction of Afghanistan, for its oil pipelines and its opium
The complete destruction of Libya, where there is a massive military and civil war happening
The coming destruction of Yemen, to make the Saudis and Israelis happy.

These people refuse to see, or understand that, at that moment in our military's history, our military doesn't have the weaponry; the money; troop strength, or manufacturing to insure a positive outcome to a conventional war against Russia and/or China.

"Dangerous Nuclear Schemes" - Are American Missiles On Hair-Trigger Alert?

The proposed policies, if adopted by the new leadership in the House, would certainly fracture whatever consensus exists today to modernize America's strategic nuclear deterrent -- and at a time when both Russia and China are charging ahead militarily, and Iran and North Korea are racing toward a deliverable nuclear weapons capability.

If the United States chooses to eliminate its land-based missiles, as arms control advocates have proposed, it would dramatically and dangerously simplify an adversary's targeting calculus. The US would be reducing more than 500 distinct American-based nuclear-related targets -- including 450 Minuteman silos and 48 launch control centers spread across five American states -- down to only five continental US targets -- three USAF bomber bases, and two submarines bases -- and only roughly 10 targets if US submarines at sea were included.

Top US General Denies Plans to Leave 1,000 Troops in Syria

US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Joe Dunford issued a statement Monday denying weekend media reports that the US plans to leave around 1,000 troops in Syria, saying the reports are “factually incorrect.”

Dunford presented the current planned “residual force” as 200, saying that this hadn’t changed since February. The US announced 200 would stay on February 21, but on February 22 officially increased that number to 400.

It’s not clear from Dunford’s statement where the “incorrect” aspect of the new report, which came out of a Wall Street Journal, exists. That report suggested that the 1,000 figure was not yet finalized, but was being discussed. Dunford’s comments didn’t include any details on what is actually being discussed, but just that nothing was finalized.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think the multiple troop numbers being given, are simply a way of creating confusion about how many US troops the US does have in Syria.

TOP US GENERAL SUPPORTS PRE-EMPTIVE NUCLEAR FIRST STRIKE

With the world’s largest, most destructive arsenal of nuclear weapons, the United States poses an enormous risk not just to peace, but to the survival of much of the human race. That’s only a problem, of course, if the US starts using that arsenal.

Which is where formal US nuclear doctrine would come in. There have been debates for decades on whether the US should adopt a “no first use” policy, officially ruling out the idea that the US would launch a nuclear attack without first being attacked with a nuclear weapon.

Morally, this ought to be obvious, but every attempt to adopt such a policy has been opposed, with Joint Chiefs commander Gen. Joe Dunford the latest to come out against the idea, saying promising not to nuke other nations in a first strike would “simplify an adversary’s decision-making.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

And the problem, of course, is that Dunford was unable to articulate those scenarios, where this should be "OK" for a US President to command to have done.

There has to be a very clear articulation of when the US would be justified in doing so; that did not happen, in General Dunford's statements.

PENTAGON TO TEST LONG-RANGE MISSILES PREVIOUSLY BANNED UNDER FALTERING INF

Pentagon officials announced plans this week to move forward with flight tests of two medium to long range missile types previously banned under the Reagan era Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) which both Washington and Moscow recently declared they have effectively pulled out of. The tests of the long-banned ground-launched cruise missiles would mark an ultimate point of no return for the fast faltering landmark 1987 treaty.

The tests are expected to begin in August, the point at which the US and Russia agree the INF is set to finally terminate, which would be the death knell of the over three decade treaty which successfully kept missile build up out of Europe at the tail end of the Cold War and after.

Webmaster's Commentary:

US ‘agreed in draft’ with Taliban on Afghanistan troop withdrawal – envoy

A “marathon” round of talks with the Taliban in Qatar has produced an “agreement in draft” on counter-terrorism assurances and American troop withdrawal, said US envoy for peace in Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad.
“The conditions for peace have improved,” Khalilzad tweeted after the talks. “Despite ups and downs, we kept things on track and made real strides.”

It’s clear all sides want to end the war.

Troop withdrawal and counter-terrorism assurances are the first two issues that Khalilzad and the Taliban reached an “agreement on principle” during the talks in January.

When the final deal is reached on those two issues, the Taliban will start negotiations on “a political settlement and comprehensive ceasefire,” with the government in Kabul and other factions in Afghanistan, Khalilzad said.

Fingers crossed here on Oahu, that this is truly happening.

OPCW Report Contradicts Western Gov’t/MSM Claims Of Douma “Chemical Weapons Attack”

By Brandon Turbeville

After the lowest moment of Trump’s presidency to date — the bombing of Syria despite the risk of a third world war — the OPCW released a statement re-affirming that the United States, France, and the UK were wrong about their assertion that the Syrian government used chemical weapons in Douma in April, 2018...

Calling Dr. Strangelove: The Threat Of Nuclear War Cannot Prevent World War III Forever

On July 25, 1945, in the waning moments of World War II, then US President Harry S. Truman jotted the following words in his diary, “We have discovered the most terrible bomb in the history of the world.” But not terrible enough to employ them, it seems.

Just weeks later, the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese industrial cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, indiscriminately killing some 200,000 civilians in, literally, a flash. Many others died in the years that followed from radiation poisoning and other associated illnesses. If there is a special place in hell for those who would expose the planet to such horrific weapons, Truman must certainly be there.

PALMER LUCKEY WINS SECRETIVE PENTAGON CONTRACT TO DEVELOP AI FOR DRONES

Palmer Luckey (previously) the alt-right financier who was made a billionaire by Mark Zuckerberg's decision to acquire his VR startup Oculus, is now running a Peter-Thiel-backed surveillance startup called Anduril Industries, which has won a contract to contribute to Project Maven, the Pentagon's controversial AI-for-drones system (Google's involvement in Project Maven sparked an employee uprising that ended with the relevant executives leaving the company and the contract being allowed to lapse).

Luckey's company won the contract after he made lavish contributions to the campaigns of Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What is needed, far more than are AI systems for drone weapons, is a reasonably sane foreign policy, which, at the moment, the Unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika, does not appear have at all.

And there appear to be major, industrial-strength contradictions in how this foreign policy should be carried out.

These wild sanctions and assertions, made by both the President and Congress, are causing even those countries which once looked at their relationship with the US as paramount, to now be doing their level best to extract themselves from those relationships, just as quickly, both economically, and in terms of treaties and defense agreements, as they can.

The only answer the US government seems to have to any geopolitical dispute, is wars, or threats of wars. Any subtlety or moral tone, followed upon with honorable behaviour on the part of this country, have just... left the building, on President Trump's watch.

And in the use of drone strikes in Yemen, the indiscriminate assassinations of non-combatants, including infants, toddlers, children, and the elderly medically fragile, seem not to raise any questions, about how the US government has become complicit with Saudi Arabia in the committing of these war crimes.

Palmer Luckey, good for you that you got the contract; but in the greater scheme of things, do you not realize that you, and your company, will be a part of this ongoing carnage and genocide?

Is that what it means, to be an American, in the 21t century?!? Profiting from technology adjuncts which massively improve the US's penchant for killing non-combatants?

George Carlin was not only a very funny guy; he was, in many ways, a prophet. I think you will remember this, when you hear it: George Carlin: War Transcript

I would like to sincerely hope that my brother and sister Americans, when they become aware of what is happening here, will start asking those questions, and soon.

And if Congress wants our country to be on the right side of history here, they should stop funding, and arming, and providing guidance for these missions.

This war was never approved by Congress, which is Constitutionally mandated, began under President Obama, and is continued by President Trump.

As an American who is deeply concerned about the trajectory of its foreign policy, it is painful for me, to understand that I am a citizen of a country which commits war crimes.

But what is worse, as a Christian pacifist activist, is to to understand how the voices of my brother and sister Americans keep getting drowned out, when it comes to peace, and the only people to whom the government is listening... are the warmongers and their agents provocateurs.

FLASHBACK - Lawsuit Warns $234 Billion In Aid To Israel Violates US Law Against Supporting Secret Nuclear States

A lawsuit warns that U.S. aid to Israel violates a law meant to prevent nuclear weapons proliferation, even as the United States prepares to increase the already massive Israeli aid program.

Filed Aug. 8 by Grant Smith, director of the Institute for Research: Middle East Policy, or IRMEP, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the suit alleges that U.S. aid to Israel violates two amendments to the 1961 Foreign Assistance Act, known as the the Symington and Glenn Amendments, which collectively ban support for countries engaged in clandestine nuclear programs.

In the lawsuit, Smith alleges that violating these amendments means that Israel has received approximately $234 billion in illegal aid since the passage of the International Security Assistance and Arms Export Control Act of 1976.

The lawsuit reads:
