North Korea rejects U.N. resolution, vows stronger self-defense measures: KCNA

North Korea's foreign ministry said on Thursday it rejects the latest U.N. Security Council resolution imposing fresh sanctions against the country for its September nuclear test, saying it denied its sovereignty and right to survival.

The North's foreign ministry said in a statement that the country will be taking stronger self-defense measures in response to the resolution, the country's KCNA state news agency said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Congrats, UN, for creating sanctions which are pushing North Korea into the polar opposite direction from where you say you want them to go!! Smooth move, there, folks!

What the UN, South Korea, Japan, China and US SHOULD be doing, at this juncture, is getting Kim Jung-Un and North Korea back to the negotiating table, and presenting a peace treaty to replace the existing armistice, which guarantees freedom of trade in exchange for North Korea stopping their nuclear weapons program, and becoming a signatory to the NNPT.

Unfortunately, however, it appears that this solution is....logical.

And I have learned, very painfully, that logic and the geopolitical process, are frequently mutually exclusive.

And, should North Korea accept such terms and conditions, it cannot be used as a "justification" for a US government's "back door war" against China.

EU Plans Big Military Spending Increase

The European Union today unveiled their “European Defense Action Plan,” which aims at a major military spending increase alliance-wide, with some $5.8 billion a year being set aside to acquire more weaponry, including attack helicopters and drones.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker argues that the spending is needed to ensure that Europe’s military industrial base remains “competitive” enough to give them strategic autonomy. Alliance-wide, the EU member nations spend over $210 billion on their military every year.

A lot of the effort seems focused not on building or buying equipment anyone actually wants, but rather in ensuring that EU-based companies have the capability of doing so, and funding research into more future weapons that they will also buy, but not actually want.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me for being a tad confused here, but... against what countries does EU President Junker believe he will be fighting with this EU Army?!?

Russia?!? Russia wants trade.

China?!? China wants trade.

Or, perhaps, is this EU Army being created to put down uppity nation-states who ultimately want out, because membership in the EU is not benefiting their citizens economically at all?

Of course, after Italy's referendum this weekend, the entire point of the EU might be made moot anyway.

Russian Defense Ministry: Terrorists used chemical weapons in Oum Hosh village in Aleppo countryside

The Russian Defense Ministry affirmed that terrorists used mustard gas in Aleppo’s southern countryside, and that evidence confirms that terrorists have a regulated production cycle for producing chemical weapons.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Ministry said that Russian experts gave to the Syrian side on November 16th soil samples from the crater caused by a shell fired by terrorists on civilians in Oum Hosh village along with samples from the mortar-shaped shell, noting that the shell was a handmade 240 mm shell containing in its fin assembly a plug used in manufacturing chemical containers.

FLASHBACK - The NUMEC Affair: Did Highly Enriched Uranium from the U.S. Aid Israel's Nuclear Weapons Program?

Because of the high stakes involved, the affair has been clouded in denial and concealment for nearly a half century.

Syrian Rebels Show Off New Anti-Aircraft Missiles

After months of the US assisting weapons smuggling to rebels in Syria but also trying to keep anti-aircraft missiles out of the country, the US-backed rebels in the south, including Ansar al-Islam forces have issued a video of their fighters parading around with anti-aircraft weapons.

The weapons shown in the video were 9k32 Strela-2 missiles, a Soviet design from the late 1960s which remains a popular shoulder-mounted anti-aircraft missile across the world. It is unclear where the rebels got them, but they claimed to have a “good number” of them.

Saudi Arabia has been keen to get anti-aircraft missiles into the hands of rebels for years, but had so far been blocked by the US. It is possible they were finally able to do so, and while the Saudis aren’t themselves users of that particular design of missiles, they are common enough on the export market.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder if President Obama "greenlit" this in the closing days of his administration, to keep the war in Syria continuing against the Al-Assad government.

Russia Deploys Nuclear Missiles In Retaliation To NATO "Threats"

While the detente between Russia and US president-elect Donald Trump could not have come at a more tense time, the Kremlin appears to be accelerating its head-on collision course with NATO, and as a highly placed defense official said on Monday, Moscow will deploy S-400 surface-to-air missiles and nuclear-capable Iskander systems in the exclave of Kaliningrad in retaliation for NATO deployments, confirming previous media reports of Russian intentions to once again blanket central Europe with potential nuclear ICBM coverage.

While Russia has previously said it periodically sends Iskanders to Kaliningrad, until now it has always said these were routine drills. Moscow has not linked the moves explicitly with what it says is a NATO military build-up on Russia's western borders.

The U.S. Remains Deeply Complicit in the War on Yemen

The atrocious U.S.-backed war on Yemen hasn’t ended. The New York Times reports on the use of U.S. weapons sold to the Saudi-led coalition to attack critical infrastructure and purely civilian targets:

But instead of defeating the rebels, the campaign has sunk into a grinding stalemate, systematically obliterating Yemen’s already bare-bones economy. The coalition has destroyed a wide variety of civilian targets that critics say have no clear link to the rebels.

It has hit hospitals and schools. It has destroyed bridges, power stations, poultry farms, a key seaport and factories that produce yogurt, tea, tissues, ceramics, Coca-Cola and potato chips. It has bombed weddings and a funeral.

The bombing campaign has exacerbated a humanitarian crisis in the Arab world’s poorest country, where cholera is spreading, millions of people are struggling to get enough food, and malnourished babies are overwhelming hospitals, according to the United Nations.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Here, folks, is what your US government has enabled, and endorses in Yemen: massive starvation of Yemeni kids:

McCain to Trump: Don't You Dare Make Peace with Russia!

Sit down. This is going to shock you. (Not). We reported yesterday on the telephone call between US president-elect Trump and Russian president Putin, where the current and future presidents discussed the need to set aside differences and look to more constructive future relations. With serious observers of this past year's increasing tensions between US and Russia openly worrying about a nuclear war breaking out, with some 300,000 NATO troops placed on Russia's border, with sanctions hurting average businesspersons on both sides, a normal person might look at the slight thaw in Cold War 2.0 as an early positive indicator of the end of the Obama Era.

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) begs to differ.

In a blistering statement he released today responding to the Trump/Putin telephone call, Sen. McCain condemned any efforts by President-elect Trump to find common ground with Putin.

Saudis Deliberately Targeting Civilian Infrastructure in Yemen War

Since the March 2015 Saudi invasion of Yemen, Saudi-coalition airstrikes have killed a preposterous number of civilian bystanders, and repeatedly hit places like schools and hospitals across the country. While the Saudis are forever downplaying such incidents, the reality of the Saudi air war is becoming increasingly apparent. It is a war not against the Shi’ite Houthi movement, but against Yemen’s population and economy.

Even sources like the New York Times are starting to take notice that this is less an anti-rebel campaign and instead a war of systematically obliterating Yemen’s already bare-bones economy, targeting anything and everything and claiming “suspicion” if asked about it.

Indeed, as much attention as blowing up a hospital gets, in many cases the more harmful strikes are against places like food processors and basic industries, whose destruction exacerbates chronic food shortages in the nation and ensures that any post-war reconstruction will be arduously slow.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would like to politely point out that what the NYT is just beginning to wrap its collective editorial head around, WRH has been covering, in terms of these war crimes, almost from the inception of this US government enabled Saudi attack against Yemen.

And what has been the ultimate result of the Saudi naval blockade of Yemen?!?

I will show you now, and this stuff has not been photoshopped or altered in any way: Yemen's kids are starving to death, due to this blockade.

Images of Yemeni children, starving due to the Saudi naval blockade

Don't you DARE turn your eyes away from this horrific, US-government enabled war crime of starving children!

And apparently, our President, Barack Obama, a father himself, thinks that this horrific suffering, on the part of Yemen's kids, is a perfectly logical outcome of the Saudi attack against Yemen.

Would someone from the Nobel Prize Nominating Committee in Oslo, who has the "gonadal tissue" to do so, please rescind Obama's Nobel Peace Prize for allowing this to have happened?!?

Thank you very much.

NATO Panics As Putin Urges Trump To Force Alliance Withdrawal From Russian Border

Russian Navy will hit ISIS targets in Aleppo with cruise missiles within 24 hours as Putin moves to strike while US focusses on Presidential election

The Russian navy is planning a massive attack on Aleppo within the next 24 hours, according to a Ministry of Defence source.
A group of ships including an aircraft carrier, a nuclear power guided missile cruiser and two destroyers is reportedly ready to strike from the Mediterranean Sea.
But the Russian source insisted the missiles will aim for areas surrounding Aleppo to avoid harming the 200,000 civilians still living there.

The source added that the details of the strike are still being finalised as they navy zeros in on exact targets around the Syrian city.
The strikes could apparently include Kalibr cruise missiles, launched from a submarine.

It comes on the day of the US election, after American officials have condemned Russia's bombing campaign in Syria.

Secretary of state John Kerry has called on Russia, which supports dictator Bashar-al-Assad against rebel groups, to stop bombing civilians in what he described as the 'largest of humanitarian disasters'.

Defense Secretary: US ‘Can’t Wait Any Longer’ to Buy New Nukes: Says US Needs to Make Up for 'Decades of Under-investment'

Defense Secretary Ash Carter, delivering a speech at Strategic Command headquarters, has ratcheted up ongoing Pentagon calls for massive spending increases, particularly on the creation of new modern nuclear weapons, claiming the current arsenal is becoming “antiquated.”

Carter rattled off a list of potential nuclear “foes,” including Russia, China, North Korea, India, Pakistan, and Iran, insisting that while the US had “under-invested” in nuclear arms all those nations “consistently invested” in such weapons.

The Pentagon has been talking up this modernization scheme for years, and the estimated price tag has continued to rise precipitously throughout, with the plan likely to be well in excess of $1 trillion when all is said and done. Carter, like other Pentagon officials, mostly ignored the cost in his comments, insisting the program is vital.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As reported in thenation.com one year ago last September:

Start with this simple fact: the production, maintenance, and modernization of nuclear weapons are sources of super profits for what is, in essence, a cartel. They, of course, encounter no competition for contracts from offshore competitors, given that it’s the US nuclear arsenal we’re talking about, and the government contracts offered are screened from critical auditing under the guise of national security. Furthermore, the business model employed is “cost-plus,” which means that no matter how high cost overruns may be compared to original bids, contractors receive a guaranteed profit percentage above their costs. High profits are effectively guaranteed, no matter how inefficient or over-budget the project may become. In other words, there is no possibility of contractors losing money on their work, no matter how inefficient they may be (a far cry from a corporate free-market model of production). Those well-protected profits and the firms raking them in have become a major factor in the promotion of nuclear weapons development, undermining any efforts at nuclear disarmament of almost any sort. Part of this process should be familiar indeed, since it’s an extension of a classic Pentagon formula that Columbia University industrial economist Seymour Melman once described so strikingly in his books and articles, a formula that infamously produced $436 hammers and $6,322 coffee makers. Given the process and the profits, the weapons contractors have a vested interest in ensuring that the American public has a heightened sense of danger and insecurity (even as they themselves have become a leading source of such danger and insecurity). Recently, the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN) produced a striking report, “Don’t Bank on the Bomb,” documenting the major corporate contractors and their investors who will reap those mega-profits from the coming nuclear weapons upgrades. Given the penumbra of national security that envelops the country’s nuclear weapons programs, authentic audits of the contracts of these companies are not available to the public. However, at least the major corporations profiting from nuclear weapons contracts can now be identified. In the area of nuclear delivery systems—bombers, missiles, and submarines—these include a series of familiar corporate names: Boeing, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, GenCorp Aerojet, Huntington Ingalls, and Lockheed Martin. In other areas like nuclear design and production, the names at the top of the list will be less well known: Babcock & Wilcox, Bechtel, Honeywell International, and URS Corporation. When it comes to nuclear weapons testing and maintenance, contractors include Aecom, Flour, Jacobs Engineering, and SAIC; missile targeting and guidance firms include Alliant Techsystems and Rockwell Collins. To give a small sampling of the contracts: In 2014, Babcock & Wilcox was awarded $76.8 million for work on upgrading the Ohio class submarines. In January 2013, General Dynamics Electric Boat Division was awarded a $4.6 billion contract to design and develop a next-generation strategic deterrent submarine. More of what is known of such corporate weapons contracts can be found in the ICAN Report, which also identified banks and other financial institutions investing in the nuclear weapons corporations. Many Americans are unaware that much of the responsibility for nuclear weapons development, production, and maintenance lies not with the Pentagon but the Department of Energy (DOE), which spends more on nuclear weapons than it does on developing sustainable energy sources.

The process, as it stands now, for American nuclear weapons procurement, is dangerous for our men and women in uniform, because there is no real oversight, on either quality, or costs.

And if the US government had any clue as to the power of true, honest diplomacy, these weapons would never be used, period, end of discussion.

Putin's greatest warning to the West yet: Russia unveils first image of its Satan 2 super-nuke capable of wiping out England and Wales

Russia has unveiled chilling pictures of its largest ever nuclear missile, capable of destroying an area the size of France.

The RS-28 Sarmat missile, dubbed Satan 2 by NATO has a top speed of 4.3 miles (7 km) per second and has been designed to outfox anti-missile shield systems.
The new Sarmat missile could deliver warheads of 40 megatons - 2,000 times as powerful as the atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly planning to replace the country's older SS-18 Satan weapons with the new missiles amid a string of recent disagreements with the West.

Webmaster's Commentary:

By making images of this weapon public, and describing its capabilities, Putin is telegraphing: "Please; don't mess with us in a stupid war you cannot win!!"

And the primary reason that such a weapon is so terrifying to the US and NATO is that the US and NATO, at least at the moment, has absolutely nothing to compare with this, because the weapons procurement process in this country is so horrifically corrupt and wasteful.

For example, please consider the consistent, chronic failures of the F-35, brought to its current state of non-functionality by the American procurement process, courtesy of Lockheed Martin, and costing taxpayers over one trillion dollars.

Lockheed Could “Fail to Deliver” F-35 Capabilities on Time, Says Pentagon Tester

Russia may not spend what the US government does on weapons; but they do get the proverbial "bang" for their weapons buck, as evidenced by the existence of Satan 2.

And the question Americans and NATO members have to ask is, why do they not get maximum benefit for weapons dollars spent?!?

As U.S. politicians and pundits have fun talking tough about Russia and demonizing President Putin, they are missing signs that Moscow isn’t amused and is preparing for actual conflict, writes ex-CIA analyst Ray McGovern.

Oct 13 23:03

The Growing Danger of Military Conflict with Russia

It seems clear that the Russian government wants to present the new U.S. administration with the following: an Aleppo largely back under Syrian government control, with Bashar al-Assad having outlasted the Obama administration which demanded his departure and predicted his overthrow; a whole host of new capabilities—from new cruise missiles to drones to cyber tools—to suggest that U.S. predominance in these areas may be ending; putting Iskander missile systems in Kaliningrad to undermine recent efforts to reassure NATO’s eastern flank; extensive civil defense efforts at home; and diplomatic efforts aimed at attenuating Washington’s ties with traditional allies on both the western and eastern ends of the Asian continent (Turkey and the Philippines) while seeking to reestablish Soviet-era bases in Cuba and Vietnam.

Oct 13 21:46

In Cold Blood

Russians aren’t worried about the forthcoming war. There is neither panic nor fear, just cool stoic acceptance of whatever comes. This week, some forty million people participated in a huge civil defence exercise. Shelters of Moscow and other cities have been aired and repaired. They do not want war, but if it comes, it will be met. The Russians have fought many wars against the West; they never started a war, but invariably fought to the finish.

An American attack on Syrian or Russian bases in Syria could be a starting point for the avalanche. I am truly amazed by the Russian spirits: they are considerably higher than they were in the days of Korean war, of Vietnam war or the Cuban crisis. Then, they were scared of war and ready for sacrifices to avoid MAD. Not anymore.

Putin Ally Warns Americans To Vote For Trump Or Face Nuclear War

The name of what is arguably Russia's most flamboyant, ultra-nationalist politician, and according to some the local incarnation of Donald Trump, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, a deputy in the state Duma and leader of the nationalist LDPR party, is familiar to frequent readers: he most recently made an appearance on these pages two months ago, when he warned Germany that it risks utter destruction if it continued on its present track of operating Bundeswehr forces in the Baltics. Zhirinovsky also shares another feature with Donald Trump: both are outspoken to a fault. Which is why we were not surprised to read that as Reuters reported earlier, Zhirinovsky urged Americans to vote for Donald Trump as president or "risk being dragged into a nuclear war."

Russkies at the Doorstep

In a year noted for crude political discourse, eagerly serialized in the mainstream media, the MSM are themselves bellowing anti-Russian rhetoric, conspiracy theory, and fear-mongering. Of the two “evil of two lessers” contenders, Trump is the one who regularly gets hammered, justifiably in the case of his anti-Muslim and other racist and sexist slurs, while Clinton gets a pass, even an A+, for her repeated verbal assaults on Russia and its president, even as she reeks of class hostility toward Trump supporters.

During the McCarthy era, the most perverse propaganda was about Russians hiding under beds; during the new cold war, it’s about Russians inside every telephone, computer, email, and website, while linking Putin to everything, says Guardian contributor Trevor Timm, “from Brexit, Jeremy Corbyn, Greece, and Spain.”

Dangerous Precedent': Pentagon Now at the Helm of American Foreign Policy

It looks as if the Pentagon has taken over the reins of the US foreign strategy, Canada-based political analyst Oussama El-Mohtar told Sputnik, commenting on the disruption of US-Russian cooperation on Syria. According to El-Mohtar, this is a very dangerous precedent.

It looks as if the White House has yielded its decisions regarding Syria and its US-Russian relationship to the Pentagon until a new administration emerges, Oussama El-Mohtar, a Canada-based political analyst and author, told Sputnik, commenting on Washington's decision to suspend cooperation with Moscow on Syria. Pentagon Throws a Wrench in US-Russian Relations "The disruption, as far as I can see, means one thing: given the disagreement between [Secretary of State] Kerry and the White House, the US administration has yielded its decisions regarding Syria and the overall confrontation with Russia to the Pentagon until a new administration emerges," El-Mohtar noted in his interview with Sputnik.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Dangerous?!? Listening to what Ash Carter has been saying recently, such a seismic shift could be catastrophic, and push Russia and the US toward a war which has utterly zero support from the standpoint of the American people.

U.S. Admits Israel Is Building Permanent Apartheid Regime — Weeks After Giving It $38 Billion

Whether despite this aggression and oppression, or because of it, the Obama administration has continually protected Israel with unstinting loyalty and lavished it with arms and money. This rewarding of Israeli behavior culminated in the administration’s announcement just three weeks ago that it has signed a “memorandum of understanding” to significantly increase the amount of money the U.S. gives to Israel every year, even though Israel was already by far the biggest recipient of U.S. aid. Under this agreement, the U.S. will give Israel $38 billion over 10 years, by far a new record for U.S. aid commitments, even though Israeli citizens enjoy all sorts of state benefits that Americans (whose money is being given to Israel) are told are too costly for them, including universal health care coverage, and tout superior life expectancy and infant mortality rates.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And what did President Obama and Congress get from this incredible largesse to Israel?!?

Absolutely nothing, zero, NADA, ZIP!!

Did it persuade Israel to become a signatory to the NNPT, (which Iran has signed on to, by the way), permitting its nuclear facilities to be inspected?!?

Hell, no!!

And yet all these people know that one dime of aid to Israel is completely illegal, under the Symington Amendment, which prohibits any US financial or military aid to be given to countries which have nuclear capabilities, but refuse to sign the NNPT.

Israel is a nuclear-armed country which refuses to sign the NNPT.

And they signed off on this aid while Vets cannot get medical care through the VA; homeless camps ((Obamavilles, let's call them) in the US are growing exponentially , and our infrastructure is crumbling around us?!?

What's wrong with this picture?!?

Bloody everything!!!!!!

I don't know who the hell Congress believes it is "representing" with signing off on this deal; but it surely is not the American people!

Did Congress and Obama get Netanyahu to even begin to consider more peace talks with the Palestinians?!/

Hell, no!!

What we have from Israel is serial genocide against the Palestinians; more bombings in Gaza; and the robust seizure of lands in East Jerusalem and the West Bank for new Jewish-only settlements.

So congratulations, President Obama and Congress: what you have allowed Netanyahu to do to you, collectively, is the geopolitical equivalent to him having "relieved himself" on your faces, and tell you it's raining!!

This US government enabling of Israel, which has become, in the 21st century, a wretchedly apartheid, self-proclaimed theocracy with nuclear weapons, will ultimately not augur well for peace, either in the region, or the world.

This deal has also demonstrated, painfully clearly, for the rest of the Middle East, that the US government can never again be trusted on anything they say, ever again.

The US Warmongers Are Preparing the Sheeple for War with Russia

No, you didn’t miss this story. I made it up. But isn’t it time there was such a story? Isn’t it time we gave Putin a dose of his own medicine — not for juvenile playground reasons and not to instigate a conflict but precisely to prevent one — to back Putin off from what is increasingly rogue behavior violating basic civilized norms and increasingly vital U.S. interests.

Putin “is at war with us, but we are not at war with him — both the U.S. and Germany are desperately trying to cling to a decent relationship,” remarked Josef Joffe, editor of Die Zeit, a weekly German newspaper and a leading strategic thinker in Europe. No one should want to start a shooting war between great powers “in the shadow of nuclear weapons,” Joffe told me.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is disgusting. The NY Times is actually suggesting that it is okay to smear Putin with lies, to start a war.

Paul Craig Roberts Rages "Washington Is Leading The World To War"

What must the world think watching the US presidential campaign? Over time US political campaigns have become more unreal and less related to voters’ concerns, but the current one is so unreal as to be absurd.

The offshoring of American jobs by global corporations and the deregulation of the US financial system have resulted in American economic failure. One might think that this would be an issue in a presidential campaign.

The neoconservative ideology of US world hegemony is driving the US and its vassals into conflict with Russia and China. The risks of nuclear war are higher than at any previous time in history. One might think that this also would be an issue in a presidential campaign.

Instead, the issues are Trump’s legal use of tax laws and his non-hostile attitude toward President Putin of Russia.

One might think that the issue would be Hillary’s extremely hostile attitude toward Putin (“the new Hitler”), which promises conflict with a major nuclear power.

US generals have said that a future war against Russia and China will be quick and lead to numerous victims.

These estimates were made at the annual conference of the Association of the US Army in Washington, DC, reports The Independent.

According to the newspaper, at the event, held on the 4th of October, the head of the United States Army Staff Mark A. Milley expressed the view that future large-scale war are "almost inevitable".

In turn, Major General William Hicks noted that "any conflict in the near future with the use of conventional arms will flow very quickly and lead to enormous sacrifices." "We can not stop it at will," - he added.

Pentagon Fund Pushed Bomb Production, Expecting Ally Orders to Target ISIS

Endless US wars mean endless sales for well-positioned US arms makers, but military officials today are detailing a growing effort within the Pentagon to fund not just the weapons they intend to actually buy, but also weapons they figure other people might want to buy in the future.

The Pentagon’s Special Defense Acquisition Fund (SDAF) is meant for exactly that, with officials saying it allows them to “prime the pump” and placing advanced orders for weapons from arms makers “so we can stockpile things when we know there’s going to be an immediate rush or demand.”

In practice a lot of this money is being thrown at the ISIS war, with the expectation that all the nations that have gotten sucked into participating in the US-led coalition airstrikes against ISIS are going to need to buy a bunch of American bombs to drop on ISIS.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I sure as hell wish most of that money was going to take better care of our Veterans at the US's VA medical system!!

Moscow sees link between Russian embassy shelling and Washington’s threats

Russia blames the US directly for the shelling of their Embassy. Another war crime. This situation is going from bad to worse and the blame is on DC.

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman says there is a connection between Russian embassy shelling in Damascus and Washington’s threats.

Oct 05 12:47

UNDER U.S. PROXY ATTACK RUSSIA READIES FOR FULL WAR IN SYRIA

MR KIRBY: The consequences are that the civil war will continue in Syria, that extremists and extremists groups will continue to exploit the vacuums that are there in Syria to expand their operations, which will include, no question, attacks against Russian interests, perhaps even Russian cities, and Russia will continue to send troops home in body bags, and they will continue to lose resources – even, perhaps, more aircraft.
The Russian Federation interpreted that not as a prediction or warning, but as a direct threat.

Then this happened:

Al-Nusra Front Shells Russian Embassy in Damascus

The Russian embassy in Damascus was shelled from the areas controlled by al-Nusra Front and Faylaq al-Rahman militants, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Russia-US Relations Deteriorate Sharply: Moscow Halts Plutonium Cleanup Accord, Says Syria Contact Suspended

Following last week's sharp escalation in diplomacy between the US and Russia, when John Kerry warned of not only breaking off diplomatic relations over Syria with Russia, and threatening to use "military force" including potentially US-based ground forces in Syria for the first time, but also slamming Russian strikes over Aleppo as "barbaric", Russia responded Monday when Russian President Vladimir Putin suspended an agreement with the United States for disposal of weapons-grade plutonium because of "unfriendly" acts by Washington, the Kremlin said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This break off of communications could become the spark that ignites a Russian/US military confrontation in Syria; but perhaps that is precisely what the White House (and or Sec Def Carter) wants as a prelude to a US-led "invasion" of Syria, using the RTP excuse (responsibility to protect), while attacking Damascus in order to regime change Syria.

Putin suspends plutonium cleanup agreement with US

Russian President Vladimir Putin has suspended a cooperative program that commits Russia and the United States to eliminating parts of their weapons-grade plutonium stocks.

A presidential decree made public today, Monday 3 October, says the implementation of the US-Russia Plutonium Management and Disposition Agreement must be put on hold, “due to Washington’s unfriendly actions toward Russia.”

Putin had signed a decree suspending the 2010 agreement under which each side committed to destroy tonnes of weapons-grade material because Washington had not been implementing it and because of current tensions in relations.

According to the deal, the two countries committed themselves to turn parts of their weapons-grade plutonium stockpiles into fuel for nuclear power plants and other non-weapon forms.

An amending protocol to the agreement, which called on each side to dispose of 34 tons of plutonium, came into force in 2011.

Nobel Peace Prize laureate, US President Barack Obama has been steadfastly pursuing a policy of armed interventions and conflicts across the globe longer and more extensively than any other president in recent US history. Britain increases aid to Yemen while selling arms to Saudis - who are bombing Yemen

BRITAIN is to increase the amount of aid destined for those caught up in the civil war in Yemen - at the same time as it sells arms to the Saudi regime which is carrying out airstrikes in the war-torn Gulf state.

International Development Secretary Priti Patel announced that Britain will provide an additional £37million in funding for Yemen this year.

A total of £72m has already been committed to the crisis in Yemen by the UK Government.

But the Government has simultaneously approved more than £3billion in arms sales over the past 18 months.

Webmaster's Commentary:

War profits uber alles, right, Prime Minister May?!?!?

May I politely remind you that the Saudi Arabian military has been committing war crimes all over Yemen, and that makes the UK a "Proud Partner in War Crimes"?!?

But hey, as long as your defense industry is making profits, nothing else matters, right?!? Because for Members of Parliament, money appears to their only religion.

And they have to get those fat contributions from defense corporations to continue to stand for Parliament, right?!?!?

Syrian Army Discovers Turkish Manual Instructing Terrorists in Use of Nukes

In the course of a recent operation to liberate a terrorist-held enclave in northern Latakia, Syrian Army troops discovered a 'manual for terrorists'. Printed in Turkey, the book teaches jihadis "the proper conduct of war on foreign soil," up to and including the use of nuclear weapons.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This dovetails in with my concern over CENTCOM trying to revive the Osama-zombie yesterday.

We Are Headed For War-Paul Craig Roberts

It used to be we used nuclear weapons only in retaliation. There was no first use, but the George W. Bush regime, the Neocons, changed our nuclear doctrine. It’s now a preemptive first strike. So, this tells both the Russians and Chinese they could get a preemptive first strike. Then, we tell the Russians we are putting missiles right on your border. You won’t have two minutes’ notice. They can’t accept that. It’s too much risk from a crazy country (U.S.) that won’t negotiate with them. . . . So, we’re headed for war. I think the only thing that would block it is if one or two of the European governments realize that they have nothing whatsoever to gain with a conflict with Russia. . . . The only thing they could do to prevent a nuclear war is to pull out of NATO.”

Israel Is Rich, Powerful, and Armed With 100s of Nukes Why send it $38 billion in new death gear? (Ron Paul)

Last week’s announcement of a record-breaking US aid package for Israel underscores how dangerously foolish and out-of-touch is our interventionist foreign policy. Over the next ten years, the US taxpayer will be forced to give Israel some $38 billion dollars in military aid. It is money we cannot afford going to a country that needs no assistance to maintain its status as the most powerful military in the Middle East.

Multi-billion Dollar Weapons Deals: Why the US Backs Israel

If multibillion-dollar weapons deals are any measure, Israel and the US have never been closer.

This past week, despite a reported personal rift between President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the US and Israel signed a pact that contains the largest pledge of military assistance to a single country in US history. The ten-year agreement will provide $3.8 billion of aid yearly to Israel — up from the $3.1 billion awarded to Israel in the countries’ previous decade-long deal.

In justifying the largesse, commentators and officials have pointed to the threat of a resurgent Iran and ISIS. The deal, National Security Advisor Susan Rice said at a press conference, “will ensure that Israel has the support it needs to defend itself.”

Yet the diplomatic platitudes are less illuminating than a statement Netanyahu made a year ago at the Knesset: “I am asked if we will forever live by the sword,” the prime minister said, then gave his answer: “Yes.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

That the US government is supplying both money and weapons to a wretchedly apartheid, self-proclaimed theocracy with nuclear weapons, does not bode well for peace, either in the Middle East, or the world.

State Department and Establishment Media Silent on Israel’s 200 Nukes

Not only has the State Department ignored Colin Powell’s revelation Israel has two hundred nukes, so has the establishment media. After DCLeak posted a tranche of Powell emails hacked from the former secretary of state’s personal Gmail account, RT’s Caleb Maupin asked the State Department for comment on Powell's mention of Israel’s nukes. He was ignored. Meanwhile, the story has been virtually ignored by the media. COLIN POWELL LEAKED EMAILS REVEAL ISRAEL HAS “200 NUCLEAR BOMBS”

According to Judah Ari Gross of The Times of Israel, “Discussing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s March 2015 speech to Congress about the dangers posed by the Iranian nuclear deal, in an email he sent to US Democratic party donor Jeffrey Leeds, Powell wrote that he doubted the Iranian regime would use an atomic bomb even if it could get one, since “the boys in Tehran know Israel has 200, all targeted on Tehran, and we have thousands.” The email was published by theLobeLog foreign policy website.

Israel maintains a policy of so-called nuclear ambiguity, they will not publicly confirm or deny the existence of an atomic arsenal.

Top diplomats from U.S., Japan, South Korea to meet on North Korea

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will meet with his Japanese and South Korean counterparts in New York on Sunday to discuss responses to North Korea's latest nuclear test, South Korea's foreign ministry said on Wednesday.

The three countries are pushing for tough new U.N. Security Council sanctions on North Korea after the isolated country on Friday conducted its fifth and largest nuclear test.

The blast was in defiance of U.N. sanctions that were tightened in March.

China, the North's chief ally, backed the March resolution but is more resistant to harsh new sanctions this time after the United States and South Korea decided to deploy a sophisticated anti-missile system in the South, which China adamantly opposes.

South Korea said Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se and his counterparts Kerry and Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida will meet during the annual U.N. General Assembly to discuss putting further pressure on North Korea.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to Secretary of State Kerry, South Korean Foreign Minster Byung-se, and Japanese Foreign Minister Kishida: the one thing you all CAN do is invite both North Korea and China to a Peace Conference, to replaced the Armistice which has existed over 60 years, with a real peace deal, including North Korea's cessation of expanding their nuclear capability.

Then, negotiate in good faith to get it done, and make it happen.

Of course, that....would be logical.

But I do have a caveat for the Foreign Ministers of both Japan and South Korea; the US government may well not be amenable to such a solution, and let me share with you why.

As you have noticed, the American Presidential Election cycle has just heated up as though it were on industrial strength steroids.

IF internal polls at the White House and the Democratic National Committee indicate that Donald Trump may well win our Presidential election in a landslide in November, they may very well want to "gift" him with a war (any war will do, but with the US public sentiment not warm toward Kim Jong Un, it's a good starting place, in their minds) before he has the opportunity to take the Oath of Office.

Yes, I know this may sound crazy; however, logic and prudence, and care for the real concerns of the American people, haven't been around for quite some time in American governance, resulting in:

Massive poverty:

Tent Cities Full Of Homeless People Are Booming In Cities All Over America As Poverty Spikes

Multiple military misadventures:

U.S. troops staying in Afghanistan? New look at reduction plan

Endless corruption is leaving Iraq a failed state

Libya: From Africa’s Richest State Under Gaddafi, to Failed State After NATO Intervention

"What A Mess!" - Pentagon At War With CIA In Syria

And of course, an absolutely unpayable National Debt:

U.S. NATIONAL DEBT CLOCK

Coupled with a monumental trade imbalance:

US current account trade deficit narrows to $119.9 billion

A logical, responsible government, at this point, would be trying to fix the fundamentals of an economy gone wrong, and evaluate why the US's military interventions have been such blatant failures; but this will not happen because more military interventions will fatten the coffers of the 1 percenters, heavily invested in the military industrial complex, and campaign donations to Congressional representatives who deliver what they want, in terms of national and international policies.

Additionally, those in the bowels of power in DC believe that another war may distract many Americans from the grinding poverty to which they have been condemned through the offshoring/outsourcing of the jobs which used to underpin the American middle class.

South Korean Foreign Minster Byung-se, and Japanese Foreign Minister Kishida, I encourage you both to have conversations with your counterparts in the Chinese government, and see how far they are willing to go to reach a consensus about inviting North Korea for a peace conference. The way President Obama threatened China about their activities in the South China Sea at the G20, you may have a rough road here, but please counsel patience; Obama will be out of the White House in January of next year.

I frankly think that such a move, toward a legitimate peace conference with North Korea, will be the only way to stop a US war against North Korea, and ultimately, China.

Now the Saudis Have Killer Drones, Too

Saudi Arabia is the world’s newest drone power. And that could be a problem, since the Saudis are in the midst of a rather nasty war.
Riyadh has signed a contract with Chinese firm Chengdu for an unspecified number of Pterodactyl drones, Saudi media reported in late August and early September.

The 30-foot-long, propeller-driven Pterodactyl, which Chengdu apparently modeled on America’s iconic Predator and Reaper drones, can fly for hours at a time carrying cameras and missiles. Operators on the ground control the unmanned aerial vehicle via satellite.

As far as killer drones go, the Pterodactyl probably isn’t terribly sophisticated—its sensors are certainly less capable than U.S.-made models—and that can mean the difference between life and death for innocent people caught in the crossfire as flying robots hunt militants on the ground.

Webmaster's Commentary:

These are going to kill hundreds to thousands more innocent Yemenites.

But hey, when it comes to weapons manufacturers, their products, and profits, to paraphrase Gertrude Stein, "A deal is a deal is a deal!!"

BOMBED: A POTATO CHIP FACTORY, A SCHOOL, A DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS FACILITY, AND NOW A WATER WELL

Strikes in northern Yemen on Saturday reportedly killed two children and first responders as US-backed coalition continues ‘disturbing’ strikes.

A United Nations official has condemned airstrikes, including a “double tap” attack, on a water well in Yemen that killed dozens of people including children. The statement comes as the Obama administration’s proposed $1.15 billion arms to Saudi Arabia, who’s leading the U.S.-backed coalition’s bombing campaign against the Houthi rebels in Yemen, faces opposition both on and off Capitol Hill.

In a statement released Monday, U.N. humanitarian coordinator for Yemen Jamie McGoldrick said that 30 people were killed and 17 were wounded, with the casualties including first responders and two children, as a result of the airstrikes in the village of Beit Saadan in northern Yemen.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The US-militarily enabled Saudi military love to commit war crimes with impunity.

The fact that US companies sell them the weapons to do this makes the US government a partner in these war crimes.

Did you ever imagine that a plaque could honestly be placed on the US President's desk, stating: "The United States of America: a Proud Partner in War Crimes?!?"

Dear readers, that day.... has come, in this country.

'Negative consequences' Putin sends CHILLING warning to North Korea after nuclear test

The Russian leader has pledged to work with its allies to "solve" the worrying North Korea problem.

Pyongyang has rattled the world by holding a nuclear warhead test, which triggered a massive 5.3 magnitude earthquake on Thursday morning.

The North Korean state media confirmed it had carried out the test and revealed the country has a strategic ballistic missile it is ready to use.

But Putin has hit back at Kim Jong-Un's ambitious dictatorship, with a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry stating: "Such demonstrative disregard for international law and opinion of the international community deserves the strongest condemnation.

"North Korea’s actions, aimed at undermining the global non-proliferation regime, pose a serious threat to peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and in the Asia-Pacific Region. This will have negative consequences primarily for North Korea itself.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Yemen ‘war crime’ footage emerges day after Theresa May defends Britain’s Saudi arms deals (VIDEO)

Just a day after Prime Minister Theresa May defended UK arms sales to Saudi Arabia, cell phone footage has emerged apparently showing a college in Yemen being bombed by Saudi jets.

The footage, filmed in January 2016 and first published in the UK by independent media outlet The Ferret, appears to show a college hit by an airstrike. Attacks on schools are explicitly outlawed under the Geneva Convention, and thus constitute a war crime.

Filmed by a security guard on a cell phone, the footage was first passed to the Yemeni NGO Mwatana and then submitted to the UK government’s Committees on Arms Export Controls (CAEC).

A leaked draft of the report claims: “The weight of evidence of violations of international humanitarian law by the Saudi-led coalition is now so great that it is very difficult to continue to support Saudi Arabia.”

The revelation comes just a day after British PM Theresa May was confronted with the issue in the House of Commons.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A memo to Britain's Prime Minister May: it's only the money for your arms manufacturers that you allow the continuing Saudi slaughter in Yemen, right?!?

Well, Prime Minister May, I invite you to take a good, hard at the following images, and please explain to the world how the slaughter of Yemeni children is "...keeping Britain safe."

Images of extrajudicial assassinations of Yemeni children by Saudi Forces

We are waiting, Madame Prime Minister; how does the slaughter of these kids "make Britain safer"?!?!?

And how would you characterise these killings of children to their mothers, "retroactive birth control"?!?

With these statements, you have just incontrovertibly demonstrated that you have had your conscience surgically removed before you became Prime Minister.

North Korea 'carries out most powerful nuclear test yet' after 'quake' detected

North Korea is believed to have conducted a fifth nuclear test, its most powerful to date, South Korea's military said on Friday after monitors detected a 5.3-magnitude "artificial earthquake" near its main nuclear site.

The tremor - an "artificial earthquake", according to the South Korean government - was recorded at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site at around 9:30 am on Friday, the 68th anniversary of the founding of the North Korean regime.

North Korea has not as yet confirmed that it has carried out a new nuclear test, which would be its fifth. The last underground detonation at Punggye-ri took place in January, with Pyongyang claiming it was of a hydrogen bomb.

Obama Won’t Promise Not to Launch Nuclear First Strikes

Though it has been over 70 years since the United States last used nuclear weapons in an offensive manner during a war, US governments have continued to retain some deliberate ambiguity on their policy toward the future use of such weapons.

Though there was considerable speculation that would change, President Obama is now believed to have abandoned any plans for a no first use statement with respect to America’s massive nuclear arsenal, facing too much opposition from the rest of the administration and giving up on the idea pretty quickly.

At present, China and India are the only two nations with a well-established no first use policy. North Korea has hinted at a similar position, though somewhat nebulously, and the Soviet Union also had such a position, though Russia does not retain that policy, saying it might use nuclear weapons in defense against an overwhelming conventional attack.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Given the world's geopolitical climate at the moment, this is not a comforting thought at all.

Obama Threatens Cyber War on Russia Turning G20 Summit Into a Political Event

President Barack Obama took a hardline during discussions with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the G20 Summit parroting the theory of Hillary and the Democrats that Moscow has nothing better to do than intervene in America’s election.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, forgive me, but I must ask: was there any world leader at the G-20 who you FAILED to insult?!?

This ill-timed, petulant challenge to Putin is NOT going to gain you any cooperation whatsoever on those issues where the US and Russian governments desperately need to be working together.

And sir, in making that statement "And frankly, we’ve got more capacity than anybody, both offensively and defensively.", it is apparent that I need to politely remind you of the following, just in case you are suffering from SMD (selective memory disorder):

A calamity is unfolding in Yemen and it is time world woke up

The humanitarian calamity in Yemen entered a terrifying new phase of horror this month as air strikes on the capital city of Sanaa started again after a five-month lull.

Planes from the Saudi-led coalition bombarded the city following the collapse of peace talks in Kuwait. The assaults are destroying civilian infrastructure, and threaten to prevent food and desperately needed aid from reaching the capital.

A young girl undergoes hospital treatment in Sadaa (Mohammed Al-Mikhlafi/MEE)
Many of the attacks seem to have been indiscriminate. At least 16 people, all of them said to have been women and children, died when a potato crisp factory was struck.

The nearest military post was more than one kilometre away and a friend of the owner told us that there was no military activity on the site.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Very simply put, the UK and the US governments have been partners and enablers in Saudi war crimes, period, end of discussion.

The Yemenite people support the Houthi rebels, and do not want the Western-imposed al-Hadi back in power.

And does anyone out there remember, please, how many names were on the ballot for the last election in Yemen?!?

Only one: that of Al-Hadi.

You have to LOVE the "democratic process" in Yemen.

What the sclerotic (and nearly broke) House of Saud is seeing, right on its border, is the kind of revolution from autocratic oppression it fears may well be its own downfall.

And of course, for the US government any rebuff of any US-installed puppet cannot go unanswered; but of course, it had no direct reason it could possibly "sell" a war against Yemen to the the American public; so, enter the House of Saud, fearful of its own downfall, and willing to "show those Houthis and Yemenites who's the boss."

With US/UK government enabling, the Saudi military has bombed hospitals, schools, and areas where large numbers of innocent civilians may be gathering, like market places.

These are war crimes, folks, done with your tax dollars and in your name.

How does that make you feel?!?

The blood of innocents is on the hands of the UK/US and Saudi governments.

But I understand, at least for the moment, that the only thing I can do is continue to bear Christian witness to the fact that these atrocities continue, courtesy of "our" (alleged) government.

US Preparing Electronic Warfare for 'Force-on-Force Conflict in Europe'

Having looked at the Russian military’s cyber warfare modernization, the United States rushed to develop similar capabilities that could be used in the event of a “large force-on-force conflict in a place like Europe.”

On August 11, the US Army announced the creation of the Army Rapid Capabilities Office to prevent “capability gaps” that have formed within the American military in recent years.

“Our adversaries are modernizing at a rapid rate, and in some cases, our capabilities are inadequate to keep up, to maintain our edge,” Maj. Gen. Walter E. Piatt, who is in charge of the operations in the new office said in a statement. "We need to … make sure that they are offset from us, not the other way around.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

And why and how have these "gaps" evolved?!?

Because the US weapons and electronics contracts procurement process is thoroughly incestuous.

The same weapons and electronics defense contractors who get the contracts, "lubricate" the political campaigns of congressional representatives who green light these contracts in the first place with generous donations .

How that generally translates, once equipment is field deployed, is that this equipment does not function as advertised; is hideously over budget; or, by the time it is field deployed, is already obsolete.

I am a Christian pacifist activist, who hates the idea of war as a way for the US government to resolve its geopolitical differences, and constantly exhorts this government to resolve disputes through hard-won, good faith negotiations.

That being said, when our military needs the best in weaponry and electronics possible, they should never have to do with anything less, period, end of discussion.

ISRAEL TO DEPLOY MACHINE GUN-EQUIPPED AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES ALONG GAZA BORDER

Israel is set to use fully autonomous unmanned vehicles along the border with the Gaza Strip, according to a report published by FoxNews.com.

While currently unarmed, the Israeli military plans to add machine guns to the so-called Border Protector Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) by “the beginning of next year”.

An unnamed Israeli military official told the website: “This is the future – the border is a very dangerous place… Sending unmanned vehicles to do these patrols means that troops’ lives are not at risk.”

According to the report, the Israeli army has worked with defence giant Elbit Systems to convert Ford pick-up trucks into UGVs by adding “specialised remote driving technology”, along with “four driving cameras and a 360-degree observation camera.”

UGV testing reportedly began in July 2015 and the trucks “became operational in February [2016].”

FLASHBACK: Bill Clinton Collected Donations, Then US Missile Tech Shipped To China

Former President Bill Clinton approved the sale of sensitive U.S. missile technology to China following donations from a key missile manufacturer to his campaign, in a move prescient of the Clinton Foundation’s “pay-to-play” activities.

Bernard Schwartz donated about $1.5 million to the Democratic Party and Clinton’s 1996 campaign for reelection between 1994 and 1998. Schwartz, who was at the time chairman of Loral Space & Communication Ltd., seems to have used his influence to persuade the Clinton administration to switch the licensing authority for missile exports from the Department of State to the Department of Commerce, as the latter was more vulnerable to political influence.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Notice how wonderfully China's war technology has evolved, and how quickly?!?

You can thank Bill Clinton and Loral for that.

What Will Happen if the U.S. Nukes Russia First - "Dead hand of Moscow"

During the Cold War, Russia created a fail-safe device for their nuclear weapons arsenal to ensure a second strike capability even if all command and control were to be destroyed. The system (code-named Dead Hand) utilized seismic, light, radioactivity, and pressure sensors to detect an incoming nuclear attack and retaliate if necessary. The best part? The system is almost certainly still operational.

The main command and control of the strategic missiles is called Kazbek. It is famous for its nuclear briefcase codenamed Cheget. Perimeter is an alternative command system of Russia's nuclear forces. It was designed to automatically control a massive nuclear attack.

US Arms Makers Invest in a New Cold War

The U.S. military has won only a single major war since the end of World War II (the Gulf War of 1990-91). But U.S. military contractors continue to win major budget wars in Congress nearly every year, proving that no force on earth can resist their lobbying prowess and political clout.

Consider the steady march to victory of the biggest single weapons program in history — the planned purchase of advanced Lockheed-Martin F-35 jets by the Air Force, Navy, and Marines at a total projected cost of more than $1 trillion.

The Air Force and Marines have both declared the Joint Strike Fighter ready for combat, and Congress is now forking over billions of dollars a year to acquire what is slated to become a fleet of 2,400 jets.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Hype does not win wars; a combination of weapons that actually work, coupled with brilliant tactics, and a thorough knowledge of one's enemies, win wars.

As stated later in this article:

Think tanks like the Lexington Institute are prime movers behind the domestic propaganda campaign to revive the Cold War against the diminished Russian state and justify weapons programs like the F-35. As Lee Fang observed recently in The Intercept, “The escalating anti-Russian rhetoric in the U.S. presidential campaign comes in the midst of a major push by military contractors to position Moscow as a potent enemy that must be countered with a drastic increase in military spending by NATO countries.” Thus the Lockheed-funded Aerospace Industries Association warns that the Obama administration is failing to spend enough on “aircraft, ship and ground combat systems” to adequately address “Russian aggression on NATO’s doorstep.” The Lockheed- and Pentagon-funded Center for European Policy Analysis issues a stream of alarmist reports about Russian military threats to Eastern Europe. And the highly influential Atlantic Council — funded by Lockheed-Martin, Raytheon, the U.S. Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, and even the Ukrainian World Congress — promotes articles like “Why Peace is Impossible with Putin” and declares that NATO must “commit to greater military spending” to deal with “a revanchist Russia.”

That the warmongers in the military/industrial complex are driving US foreign policy is no secret; but unfortunately, the "cold war" after which they lust, could very quickly turn into a hot war around the world, in places like the South China Sea; Ukraine; Syria; and beyond.

The F-35 is symptomatic of everything that is completely wrong with the US government's weapons procurement program, and demonstrates, painfully clearly, the incestuous relationship between weapons manufacturers, and those congressional representatives who green light their contracts, yet get heavy elections contributions from those same weapons manufacturers.

This has to stop, for the weapons procurement programs to function effectively.

But unfortunately, this "much-challenged" F-35 could well prove the US military's "Waterloo", if deployed without getting these engineering deficits sorted in short order.

And Lockheed-Martin should pay for their fixes out of their own pocket, having gouged the American taxpayer for a fighter jet costing one trillion dollars which does not function.

Hillary's American Legion Address: A Near-Declaration of War on Russia

According to Parkes, Western monied interests believe the solution to precarious world economic conditions adversely affecting business is global war for its profit potential.

He envisions a scheme to provoke belligerence against Russia, launching WW III. Whether he’s right or wrong remains to be seen.

Clearly, US hostility toward Russia risks the unthinkable. Possible East/West confrontation is too great a risk to ignore - especially if Hillary succeeds Obama, a war goddess, a neocon Russophobe.

Obama Granted Iran "Secret" Nuclear Deal Exemptions, Despite Claiming Otherwise

One of the recurring criticisms of Obama's landmark Nuclear deal with Iran is that in Obama's scramble to get a formalized agreement, he had implemented many loopholes allowing Iran substantial leeway far beyond what was disclosed for public consumption. And, in the latest blow to US foreign policy under the Obama administration, a new report confirms precisely that. According to Reuters, the United States and its negotiating partners agreed "in secret" to allow Iran to evade some restrictions in last year's landmark nuclear agreement in order to meet the deadline for it to start getting relief from economic sanctions.

The report is to be published on Thursday by the Washington-based Institute for Science and International Security, said the think tank’s president David Albright, a former U.N. weapons inspector and co-author of the report. It is based on information provided by several officials of governments involved in the negotiations, who Albright declined to identify.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Of COURSE, President Obama lied; that's what sociopaths do.

I used to believe that, perhaps, on the Iranian deal, he had, finally, done something right; at the moment, I stand firmly disabused of that notion; but the question is, what does the US and the P5+1 do NOW, to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear-armed nation, in the most peaceful and honest way possible?!?

As William Shakespeare once remarked, "Aye, there's the rub!"

Death in Yemen: British Weapons Sales to Saudi Arabia, and the “Proper Use” of Illegal Arms

The death toll in Yemen is now so high that the International Committee of the Red Cross is donating “entire morgue units” (1) to hospitals still standing, having so far escaped the illegal Saudi assault, backed, advised and armed by the US and UK.

“The hospitals were not able to cope,” said Rima Kamal, a Yemen-based spokesperson for the Red Cross. “You could have more than 20 dead people brought into one hospital on one single day. The morgue capacity at a regular hospital is not equipped to handle this influx of dead bodies.”

“It is not that common for the ICRC to donate morgues,” she observed. “The fact that we now do is telling of the size of the human tragedy in Yemen.” The ICRC has donated body bags and refrigerated storage facilities to three hospitals with: “More in the pipeline.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

The leadership in the UK should be ashamed of this trade in weapons, and the war crimes committed by the Saudi military against the people of Yemen; of course, that "being ashamed" reaction only happens when one has not had one's moral conscience surgically removed.

Last Remaining U.S. Maker of Cluster Bombs Stops Production

The last remaining United States manufacturer of cluster bombs is ending production of the controversial weapon, citing regulatory scrutiny and reduced orders for the internationally banned munition.

The decision by Rhode Island-based Textron Systems follows a White House order last May to block the transfer of a Textron shipment of CBU-105 cluster bombs to Saudi Arabia, a move first reported by Foreign Policy.

The White House had come under intense pressure by Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International after those groups documented instances in which Saudi-led forces used CBU-105 munitions in multiple locations around Yemen, including Al-Amar, Sanhan, Amran and the Al-Hayma port.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This blocked transfer is cosmetic only, as a sop to various human rights organisations who documented this carnage.

The US continues to provide "guidance" and weapons to the Saudi Military, which continue to commit war crimes in the destruction of schools, hospitals, and killing innocent civilians. In fact, the US government has just approved a massive shipment of arms to Saudi Arabia recently:

US approves $1.15 billion arms sale to Saudi Arabia

When I was a kid growing up, I never imagined, for one moment, that a sitting President could potentially have a plaque on their desk, reading: The United States of America: Proud Partner in War Crimes", but yet, at this part of the 21st century...here we are, and have been here since the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Can Americans Overthrow The Evil That Rules Them? — Paul Craig Roberts

Trump has said that he doesn’t see any future in the conflict Washington has initiated with Russia, and Trump questions the point of NATO’s continuing existence. These peaceful attitudes make Trump into a “national security risk” according to Wolfowitz. What Wolfowitz means is that a peace candidate is a threat to Wolfowitz’s doctrine of US world hegemony. In the crazed mind of Wolfowitz and the neoconservatives, America is not safe unless it rules the world.

Arms Race: China’s New Missile Defense System to Defend Against US, South Korea

With ongoing tensions in the South China Sea and on the Korean peninsula, Beijing has deemed its third-generation surface-to-air missile combat-ready. In the latest sign of a new arms race between the United States and China, Beijing’s Air Force has announced the completion of a new missile defense system. © AP PHOTO/ CHIANG YING-YING Taiwan to Indict Three Soldiers Over Accidental Missile Launch Toward China "Through innovation, ground-to-air defense troops are able to deal with far-range, medium-range and short-range missiles which can come in on high, medium and low altitudes," PLA Air Force spokesman Shen Jinke said in a statement released on China’s Defense Ministry website, according to the International Business Times.

Webmaster's Commentary:

As much as I hate to say this, it appears that the US government is escalating its plans for initiating a shooting war with both China and Russia.

As we have said many times on this site, what matters most is an intelligent preparation for such an act on the part of the US government.

German Pro-Atlantic Paper Admits: Ghouta Sarin Attack Committed By Al-Qaeda

The German paper Die Welt is staunchly pro-NATO and pro-U.S. It always follows the official, conservative propaganda lines up to the dot on the last i. But in today's Sunday edition one of its well-connected journalists and department head argues for a change of direction on Syria. Assad is not going to go away and "the west" needs to accept that to prevent a Salafist take-over of that country.
