Google Cloud manager arrested on suspicion of murder after wife vanished from beach in Hawaii

A Google manager from Washington state has been arrested in Hawaii on suspicion of murder after his wife vanished from a beach near the Waikoloa Beach Marriott and police found a body nearby.

Sonam Saxena, 43, of Bellevue, was in custody in a Kona jail cell Thursday on a 48-hour hold pending investigation of one count of second-degree murder, a Hawaii Police source confirmed to the Daily News.

The body connected to the alleged murder was located in “the general area” where Saxena’s wife Smriti Saxena, 41, was last seen Tuesday evening before she was reported missing, police said in a press release.

Detectives were holding off on officially naming the victim Thursday morning pending a positive identification from the medical examiner and notification of next of kin, Detective Keith Simeona told The News.
