The brutality of Taliban attacks in northwest Pakistan has cost the militants public support, the U.S. special envoy to the region said Saturday.
Only if you believe the Taliban are doing it.Would George Washington have targeted innocent American civilians? No, of course not. Washington NEEDED the support of his fellow citizens against a foreign invader and the same applies here. The Taliban is fighting the US, not their neighbors and friends. Of course, the US, probably killing as many innocent civilians as they are down in Pakistan, would love to pin the blame on the Taliban specifically to sabotage their popular support. But a moment's thought reveals that such a claim just does not make any real sense at all. Whenever you see or hear a report that the insurgents in any war are killing their own people, just ask transfer the story to Washington and the boys and ask if it would make sense there. Would they really kill their own people? What possible benefit would they gain? Then, when you realize that Washington and his boys do not benefit from killing their fellow colonials, ask who does benefit from such a story being put out.
