Why, of why do the propagandists not understand that the methods that worked in the days of the cold war cannot possibly succeed in the age of the internet.
Let us begin an examination of the latest embarrassment with the following AP article seen at http://www.jsonline.com/news/attack/ap/nov01/ap-attacks-casualt111701.asp . The story is recent, dated November 16th.
The salient point of the above story is that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld states, ``To my knowledge, there have been no casualties, dead or wounded, on the part of the special forces or the special operations Americans who are functioning in the country.''
Yet the BBC has been reporting at http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/world/americas/newsid_1638000/1638830.stm that 12 Commandos were wounded during the raid on Omar's complex in Kandahar. The source of that story was New Yorker magazine, which continues to stand by its reporting. The Times Of India reports in their article at ">> tat the Taliban has started to return the bodies of dead Americans via the Red Cross (which in its turn continues to insist that the US government is lying about how the Red Cross food warehouse managed to be bombed twice).
Donald Rumsfeld is either totally clueless about what is going on in Afghanistan or he has flat out lied to the tax payers who pay his salary. In either case he is unfit for the job of Secretary of Defense.
Likewise, AP presstitute Susanne M. Schafer apparently never bothered to spend the 30 seconds with a web search engine which would have found the New Yorker and BBC articles proving that Rumsfeld was lying, before simply swallowing what he was giving her, then spitting out all over the rest of us. What ever happened to reporters checking their facts?
The people of the United States are being lied to by the government. And one has to wonder how many more times they will have to be lied to before they decide they have had enough of lies.
