An American Fukushima May Be Closer Than You Think

The 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster was horrific to watch unfold. It will take decades — and billions of dollars — to clean up, as more problems seem to emerge by the minute.

Most recently, Tepco announced that it’s still missing a large amount of spent fuel — in part because radiation remains so high that robots and other devices cannot function inside the plant to give workers a better picture of what’s going on.

Jesus, Marx & Darwin Would Be Banned From UK Universities Today – Oxford Academic

Figures like Jesus, Charles Darwin and Karl Marx would all be banned from British universities today due to the rise of counter-extremism legislation and US-style ‘safe spaces,’ an Oxford professor has claimed.

Oxford Professor of European Studies Timothy Garton Ash told an audience at the Hay literary festival on Monday that pressure groups and the state are carrying out a double-pronged attack on free speech.

Asbestos, Other Toxic Chemicals Finally Set To Be Regulated By EPA

The Environmental Protection Agency will finally be able to regulate asbestos and other known toxic substances for the first time in decades. But environmentalists say the compromise bill doesn’t do enough and limits state regulators.

With bipartisan support, the House of Representatives voted 403-12 to pass a bill to update the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976 for the first time since it was enacted. The Senate is also expected to pass the legislation, Reuters reported, citing leadership aides.

The Five Stages Of Central Bankers’ Failure

Central bankers must accept the complete and utter failure of their policies if we are to move forward.

Central bankers are now in the denial and anger stages of Kubler-Ross’s famed stages of loss: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Central bankers are in denial that all their trillions of dollars, euros, yen and yuan have completely and utterly failed to achieve the desired result: “organic” (i.e. unmanipulated by central states/banks) expansion of productivity, investment and household earnings.

Ukraine’s Strange Defence, To Russia’s $3 Billion Debt Claim

In parallel with Ukraine’s extraordinary decision to bar Mikhail Gorbachev from travelling to Ukraine, Ukraine has filed what is legally speaking an equally extraordinary Defence to the Claim Russia has brought against Ukraine in London’s High Court.

Russia brought its claim because Ukraine refuses to repay $3 billion it borrowed from Russia in 2013. Since the loan took the form of a purchase by Russia of a $3 billion eurobond the court with jurisdiction to decide the case is the High Court in London.

Blackwater/Academi Mercenaries Procured By United Arab Emirates Are Now Fighting In Yemen

By Brandon Turbeville

Receiving scant attention from Western mainstream media outlets except for a few notable exceptions, Americans and many alternative media outlets have remained ignorant to the fact that private mercenaries from Blackwater (aka Academi) appear to have been contracted by the GCC Gulf state feudal monarchies to assist in the military war of terror in Yemen against the Houthi rebels and the embattled Yemeni people.

Still, on December 9, a flurry of reports from media outlets such as Press TV, TeleSur TV, Al-Manar, Al –Bawaba, and Colombia Reports have revealed that around 15 Blackwater mercenaries have been killed in a fierce battles with the Houthi forces...

U.S. Special Forces Seen Wearing YPG Badges In Syria

By Brandon Turbeville

If there was any doubt that American military personnel were doing much more than providing “training” to “anti-ISIS” fighters in Syria, recent pictures have emerged out of the embattled country showing U.S. Special Forces soldiers alongside YPG fighters. The U.S. soldiers are seen wearing emblems of the YPG on their shoulders. The picture seems to indicate that these soldiers are indeed acting under their “support” combat roles, a possibility indicated by President Barack Obama when he announced the additional number of U.S. Special Forces troops being deployed to Syria. The total number of publicly announced Special Forces fighters has risen to 300...

Shady Deal: Goldman Sachs, Hillary Clinton’s Son-In-Law & The Greek Economy

Goldman Sachs will interminably, thanks to Matt Taibbi at Rolling Stone, conjure up images of “a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money.” The vampire squid has now popped up in the middle of a potential new scandal involving the Clintons, while uproar over its payment of $675,000 to Hillary Clinton personally for three speeches is still simmering. Clinton, a presidential candidate, has thus far refused to release the transcripts of those speeches, despite numerous editorials calling on her to do so.

Is Obama’s Entire Foreign Policy Going Down In Flames?

On May 19th, the Washington Post headlined “Agreement that could lead to U.S. troops in Libya could be reached ‘any day’,” and reported that Joseph F. Dunford, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that U.S. troops will be sent to Libya to fight against ISIS, and that, “There will be a long-term mission in Libya,” in order to deal with the mushrooming presence of ISIS fighters who have come to Libya after the secularist leader of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi, was overthrown there by U.S. bombing backed up by other NATO forces, and some Libyans on the ground.

Obama Says “Big Nations Should Not Bully Small Ones” As U.S. Bullies Small Nations Across The World

By Brandon Turbeville

Ever since World War II, the United States has prided itself on being number 1. This classification of superiority has generally been reserved for things at least perceived as being positive attributes, e.g. the biggest economy, the most upward mobility, the most effective military, etc.

However, if the United States were trying to achieve the number 1 position in hypocrisy, then President Barack Obama has made a two-week jaunt the crossing of the finish line for a country racing to be labeled as the most hypocritical nation on the face of the earth...

The Stasi spying on children: It's an Orwelllian new scheme - a State snooper for EVERY child in Scotland compiling a dossier on their family life... and it has chilling implications for us all

Just imagine that you are a parent and one of your daughters cuts the hair off the Barbie dolls belonging to her younger sister. Cue screaming, shouting and tears before bedtime. But it’s the kind of thing that happens in families, isn’t it? In later years the crew-cut Barbies will be chuckled about over Sunday lunch. ‘Do you remember when . . .’

Shock Report: More Americans Killed by Police Since 9/11 than Soldiers Killed in War

By Matt Agorist

In a Memorial Day speech at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Marine Corps General Joseph Dunford praised the 40 million Americans who’ve served in the military since the revolutionary war. He also noted that 5,000 soldiers have been tragically killed in military action beyond US borders since America’s war on terror was launched after 9/11.

Thousands of families grieve daily for their fallen loved ones and the war machine that sent them to an early grave shows no signs of slowing.

These fallen military men and women, we are told, died fighting for our freedom.

...In the Land of the Free, police killed more people in just one month of this year than the United Kingdom has in the entire 20th century.

In the Land of the Free, police kill at more than 70 times the rate of other first world nations.
