Protecting Afghan Opium Fields, Bribing Taliban

Not content with savaging American taxpayers with two huge new financial burdens during an economic recession, in the form of health care reform and cap and trade, close allies of Barack Obama have proposed a new war surtax that will force Americans to foot the bill for the cost of protecting opium fields in Afghanistan, paying off drug lords, and bribing the Taliban.

$4.8 trillion - Interest on U.S. debt

Unless lawmakers make big changes, the interest Americans will have to pay to keep the country running over the next decade will reach unheard of levels.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why are we paying it?

I dare anyone to show me a contract I signed that said Congress can spend whatever they want and I will pay the loans plus interest.

Certainly I never signed a contract saying I would pay the costs of wars started by Presidential lies.

Indeed given the extent of vote fraud in this nation, why are Americans singing checks to a probably illegitimate government?

TAXES FOR REVENUE ARE OBSOLETE

Mr. Ruml read this paper before the American Bar Association during the last year of the war [World War II]. It attracted then less attention than it deserved and is even more timely now, with the tax structure undergoing change for peacetime. His thesis is that given (1) control of a central banking system and (2) an inconvertible currency, a sovereign national government is finally free of money worries and need no longer levy taxes for the purpose of providing itself with revenue. All taxation, therefore, should be regarded from the point of view of social and economic consequences. The paragraph that embodies this idea will be found italicized in the text. Mr. Ruml does not say precisely how in that case the government would pay its own bills.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The big lie of Capitalism is that everyone can be rich. This is simply not so. Capitalism only works if there is a wealth differential imposed on society. Only a small number of people can be allowed to be rich; everyone else must be kept poor. If everyone were rich, who would take out the trash, repair the sewers, fix the roads and bridges, or any of the thousand other tasteless jobs our society requires?

This is what taxes do; keep the masses poor to force them to keep working. The government has always simply printed up the money it needs to spend, called it "debt" and cited it as the excuse to loot the population. Then the government has to find cash "sinks" into which to pour the money to make it look like it is really going someplace useful, which is why the military gets $600 hammers and $1200 toilet seats, etc.

According to documents obtained by The Associated Press on Friday, the IRS filed a lien of more than $118,000 for the years 2001 and 2002 against the 92-year-old actress on Oct. 5 in the Los Angeles County Recorder of Deeds.

Gabor lawyer Chris Fields estimates that Gabor lost about $7 million in Madoff's Ponzi scheme and the tax bill is part of the fallout. Fields says third-party money managers invested Gabor's money with Madoff.

Leaked G20 Documents Shed Light on Global Carbon Tax

In addition to the expansion of the African Union and the population reduction goals that Estulin has identified as key G20 talking points, the documents also shed light on how the financial oligarchs hope to establish a global fund of "predictable public finance" to fight the phoney global warming problem. Startlingly, the draft document admits that the fund could be administered by "an existing international financial institution." Although this potentially explosive language was removed from the bland, politically palatable final version of the G20 communique, attendee notes indicate the nature and operation of this fund was a key discussion point during the conference.

How to Audit-Proof Your Tax Return: Don't e-File

I'll take considerable heat for my opinion on this, since the IRS encourages electronic filing, as do many accountants. In fact, the IRS boasts that two out of three 2008 returns were filed electronically. Clearly, electronic filing is the thing of the future and will be required for every return someday soon.

Until then, I suggest filing the old fashioned way, particularly if you're worried about an audit. Why? Paper filing means it's more work for the IRS to access all the information in your return. Your duty as a taxpayer is to be truthful and accurate, but you don't have to make it easy for the IRS.

43% of Taxpayers Risk Identity Theft When IRS Makes Copies of Their Tax Returns

TIGTA today publicly released its audit report of the IRS's processing of taxpayer requests for copies of tax returns and transcripts.

TIGTA's audit concluded that the IRS needs to strengthen its controls over taxpayer requests for copies of tax returns and transcripts in order to prevent unauthorized disclosure of taxpayer information. Tax transcripts provide most of the information contained in a tax return. Taxpayers request copies of their tax returns or transcripts for many reasons -- to obtain a loan to start a business, to buy a home, to attend college or to verify income for child support. In addition, third parties such as financial institutions, insurance companies or universities could also submit requests for tax returns or transcripts to the IRS on behalf of taxpayers.

Pelosi Doublespeak: It’s not a tax increase; We’re eliminating a tax decrease

MARIA BARTIROMO: But- on the tax issue, allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire would essentially be tax increase.

House Speaker NANCY PELOSI: That wasn’t a tax increase. It is- it is- eliminating a tax- decrease that was there.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Cut taxes by 50%. That will light up the economy for the short term. Yes, we will have to make sacrifices like not running around the world killing brown people, or giving very expensive (and illegal) weapons to other nations so that they can kill brown people, but I for one an willing to make that sacrifice.

Long term: We have given away our manufacturing to other countries for the last 30 years. Our government actually gave tax breaks to corporations to make it easier to send high paying American jobs to other countries, then scratched their heads trying to figure out why Americans stopped buying things and worse, were suddenly unable to make the payments on their mortgages and credit cards!

Rather than deal with the loss of manufacturing back when it was still a small issue, the government covered up the loss of manufacturing jobs with the so-called "service economy"; the theory that you can prosper a nation by doing each others' laundry for a fee. From the point of view of the government (composed of politicians only thinking in terms of the next election) this was a great plan because tax revenues still poured into government coffers from all the services. Problem was that while money transferred from the private sector to the government, no new money was coming into the system. Inevitably that leads to a point in time where people start doing their own laundry again and tax revenues dry up.

So, here we are, dirty clothes piling up. unable to find work, unable to pay the bills, unable to buy new products, and unable to manufacture.

We cannot simply re-open the old factories. We could spend 100 years playing catch up to the nations who now lead the US in manufacturing, if we manufacture what they manufacture, and those foreign governments, much wiser than our own, will not allow their leads to evaporate. Look how Japan has committed to better computers and robots (while the US commits to making better bombs).

So, if we are to save our nation, we need a national commitment to new technology development. Not just refinement of what already exists but a leap way beyond, into totally new and portable energy sources (not just storage), photonics, large scale ultra-cheap desalinization, and of course ideas not yet thought of.

We need a revived CIVILIAN space program to jump start our technology the way the Apollo missions jump started our technology in the 1960s. Or we need a new Manhattan project devoted to the development of commercial technologies. We need to create something that ONLY the United States knows how to make, and that the rest of the world will want to buy.

Above all we need to recreate our national culture so that the products are the focus and value of a company, not the stock options. We need to remember that it is the beans and not the counting of the beans that makes real wealth. Above all, we need to reverse the trend that abandoned products as a way to make money and made money itself the product.

These are the ONLY things which can save our economy and our nation from economic collapse.

Is $5,500 Golf Cart Credit Emblematic of "Tax Policy in the Age of Obama"

We thought cash for clunkers was the ultimate waste of taxpayer money, but as usual we were too optimistic. Thanks to the federal tax credit to buy high-mileage cars that was part of President Obama's stimulus plan, Uncle Sam is now paying Americans to buy that great necessity of modern life, the golf cart. Affiliate organizations and individual supporters are joined together in a common struggle for a more just and peaceful society. We oppose militarism and war and refuse to complicitly participate in the tax system which supports such violence. NWTRCC sees poverty, racism, sexism, homophobia, economic exploitation, environmental destruction and militarization of law enforcement as integrally linked with the militarism which we abhor. Through the redirection of our tax dollars NWTRCC members contribute directly to the struggle for peace and justice for all.

Getting Started In War Tax Resistance

Thank you for your interest in war tax resistance. If you decide to register and resist, you will join a long line of courageous resisters, from Henry David Thoreau’s time to the present. Many of us are angry and frustrated by the U.S. government’s military actions around the world, and it often seems as if there is not much we can do about it. War tax resistance is a powerful way to resist the state and oppose its harmful actions. By conscientiously resisting taxes, you take a solid step towards refusing to be a part of the destruction. Our military can only harm people when citizens allow it. If enough of us withhold from war and pay for peace, we can stop the harm.

State turns to technology to tail delinquent taxpayers

Computer technology is making it harder for Hawaii residents and businesses to skip out on their taxes.

The state collected more than $50 million in delinquent excise taxes since June 30, 2008, thanks to a computer program that links data from federal tax returns to state tax filings.

The state Department of Taxation has been checking federal tax returns of Hawaii residents to see if they claim business income. If they do, the state then looks to see if the same residents filed state excise tax returns. Those who didn't were sent warning letters, and many responded by paying what they owed.

The boost in delinquent tax collections comes at an opportune time for the state, which is facing a budget deficit of about $1 billion through June 2011.

In order to syphon off the wealth of America, it was necessary to create two entities to get the job done: The so-called income tax amendment and the unconstitutional central bank. Lest the states should decide to rear up their heads over all this, the Seventeenth Amendment was fraudulently declared ratified and the states lost their right of representation in Congress.

I submit, therefore, that taxes are not proper, and that taxation really is theft, the substantive difference (as the saying goes) is that the thief doesn’t pretend to have your best interests in mind when he robs you.

We're broke ... time for a new tax

An increasing number of influential Democrats and fiscal-policy experts have signaled that lawmakers will have to get a handle on the deficit. And they recommend seriously considering the creation of a value-added tax (VAT) on top of the federal income tax.

Webmaster's Commentary:

You see this?

The US Government won't stop wasting money on pointless wars.

The US Government won't stop wasting money on Israel.

The US Government won't stop that open-air Casino called Wall Street.

The US Government won't stop the pork barrel (like the Murtha Airport).

The US Government won't bring back the high-paying jobs they sent to other countries with tax breaks for corporations.

The US Government won't shut down the Federal Reserve which created this debt with legal counterfeiting.

What the US Government will do is turn to the American people, who are struggling to keep their heads above water, shove a fire hose into their mouths, and turn it on full blast.

And they are going to do it unless YOU give them a reason to stop.

The US Government is addicted to your money.

It is time for an intervention.

State Tax Revenues Plummet 17%

Webmaster's Commentary:

WE THE PEOPLE ARE OUT OF MONEY. RAISING TAXES, FLOGGING US TO WORK HARDER, OR MAKING US ALL HOMELESS WILL NOT FIX THE MESS THE GOVERNMENT AND FEDERAL RESERVE HAS MADE OF THE ECONOMY.

Either the high-paying jobs are brought back, or we are headed to a collapse, possibly a revolt.

Anybody who thinks Americans will stay calm while the proceeds of a lifetime or work get siphoned off is delusional.

Bailouts for the Little Guy: New Retail Consumption Tax!

For the last few years, there has been a push, mostly by libertarians, for an elimination of all federal income taxes, and replacing them with a “Fair Tax.” Neal Boortz, a talk show host out of Atlanta has been one of the lead proponents of the new tax concept. Essentially, the fair tax would be a consumption tax on goods and service. The tax would not be charged on essential items such as food or clothing, so individuals in lower and middle income groups who do not overconsume would pay very little taxes over the course of the year. The most important thing to note in the Fair Tax proposal was that it would be a substitute for federal income taxes, essentially eliminating the IRS as we know it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is why I never supported the "Fair Tax", because I knew that the US Government would never allow it to replace the income tax, but would see it as an additional tax system.

Folks, the government's solution to the economic crisis they created is to suck all your money away from you, whether it is overt tax, covert tax, or simply ordering you to buy certain things you otherwise would avoid.

And they have no reason to stop until you make them stop.

BILL BENSON'S PETITION HEADS FOR THE US SUPREME COURT!

Benson's petition for a Writ of Certiorari demands to know whether the US Government can arbitrarily silence and then rule against anyone who questions the legality of the imposed taxes or anyone who requests confirmation that the 16th Amendment was actually ratified.

This is an important case as the US Government has taken the position that laws against illegal tax shelters may be used to silence and punish anyone who asks to see the actual law which requires wage and salary earners to pay a tax on their labor.

2010 State Business Tax Climate Index

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am tired of this crap about which party taxes more or less, and who pays more of less taxes.

WE ARE ALL TAXED WAY TOO MUCH, and as taxes go up, businesses will either collapse or seek new homes in more business-friendly nations.

You cannot tax a nation into prosperity. You can only tax it into ruin.

Committee looks at taxing Michigan doctors to help avert 12 percent Medicaid cuts

Michigan State Rep. Gary McDowell, D-Rudyard, said today that the Michigan House-Senate Conference Committee, which is looking for ways to erase a $2.8 billion budget deficit for fiscal 2010, is considering imposing a 3 percent provider tax on more than 15,000 physicians who practice in the state.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Which doesn't solve the problem that there isn't enough money; it just moves what is left around (minus the loss to administrative costs) and makes the government look like they are trying to accomplish something.

But the doctors will just add the tax back into their fees for services.

Which drives already high medical costs higher.

Which further drains the Medicare fund.

Good thinking, guys.

Health Insurance Mandate Includes 'Tax' Despite Obama Denial

President Obama gave ABC News' George Stephanopoulos a stern talking-to Sunday for suggesting that a mandate to buy health insurance would amount to a tax. But the language of the health care reform plan proposed by Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., explicitly labels the penalty attached to the mandate as an "excise tax."

Webmaster's Commentary:

What we the people wanted was for the US Government to STOP spending our tax money on wars, Wall Street, and Israel and to spend it on us.

For the government to spend our tax money on wars, Wall Street, and Israel, and THEN expect us to spend our own money on health care and education is the crappy deal we have now!

The Obama administration has privately concluded that a cap and trade law would cost American taxpayers up to $200 billion a year, the equivalent of hiking personal income taxes by about 15 percent.

Owners of uninsured cars face new fines under new Government curbs

Taxed but uninsured cars left on a public road could be clamped or seized under the new laws which are being unveiled by the Government.

The draconian new powers are intended to tackle an estimated two million uninsured motorists who, the Government says, are responsible for 160 deaths a year.

But the changes have angered civil liberty campaigners and also alarmed motoring groups who fear that law-abiding motorists could be penalised for innocent mistakes, such as allowing their insurance to lapse while they are on holiday.

Hawaii tax collections worsen in July, August

HONOLULU (AP) - Hawaii's state budget deficit grew larger Thursday, and Gov. Linda Lingle emphasized that savings will have to come from government employees.

The Department of Taxation reported that tax collections fell 5 percent in July and August, a steeper decline than the 1.5 percent dip forecast by the Council on Revenues for the current fiscal year that began July 1.

''We simply cannot continue to spend beyond our means,'' Lingle said in a statement. ''The reality is we can no longer afford to maintain the current level of labor expenses.''

The drop represents an additional $36 million loss from the state budget, on top of the existing two-year budget deficit of about $900 million.

Study: Hawaii’s roads among worst in nation

Hawaii's major roads and highways are some of the roughest rides in the nation, according to a new report, which estimates that rutted thoroughfares cost each Hawaii driver about $500 a year in vehicle repairs, accelerated wear and tear and increased fuel consumption.

The report highlights how roadway conditions cost drivers, businesses - and lives. The study warns that the situation will only get worse unless the state can secure more funding to address backlogged repairs and an aging roadway system.

Doubt and anger over carbon tax

THE ANNONCEMENT that taxe carbone will be set at €17 a tonne has been met with strong criticism on how much it will cost to enforce and whether it will work.

The price of a litre of petrol will rise by 4 centimes and a litre of diesel by 4.5 centimes under the new tax, due to begin in 2010, which Prime Minister François Fillon described as a “real ecological and fiscal revolution”.

It will not apply to electricity.

However former Parti Socialiste presidential candidate Ségolène Royal described it as “ineffective, unjust and vicious” adding that people did not have the choice whether to drive or heat their house if there was no proper alternative.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has announced plans for a new carbon tax aimed at combating global warming.

The tax will be introduced next year and will cover the use of oil, gas and coal, he said.

The new tax will be 17 euros (£15) per tonne of emitted carbon dioxide (CO2). It will be phased in gradually.

It will apply to households as well as enterprises, but not to the heavy industries and power firms included in the EU's emissions trading scheme.

Solvency: how state-owned banks end interest costs on state debt ($5 billion/year for CA)

Intelligent state legislators can immediately authorize their own bank, issue credit to themselves at 0% interest to purchase their outstanding debt, and immediately save themselves borrowing costs.

Whoa. That’s important.

For California, that means saving $5 billion every year. Reality check: ~20,000 teachers were laid-off this year in California (I am one, creatively trying to earn income as a writer). All could be re-hired at $70,000 per year and the state would still have $3.4 billion left over in savings!

Hey, how much is your state paying on interest for state debt? If you’re willing to contact a state legislator, I’ll help you with the information. Contact me at my bio info.

Who Is The Boss?

The bailouts were done to save the big corporations. The citizens paid taxes, or money was borrowed in our name, and the money went to the big corporations. The big corporations then gave out huge bonuses. Some of the corporations actually gave out the exact amount they received from bailouts as bonuses.

Health care reform is something that is for the citizens. So do we ask big corporations to pay taxes, so citizens can have health insurance? No, instead our government is about to pass a low requiring citizens to cough up tons of money, to give to big insurance corporations. That is "reform.

Even higher taxes coming for Californians

Reporting from Sacramento - While Californians are still feeling the sting of income and sales tax hikes signed into law earlier this year, now comes news that state tax authorities plan to take a little more from their pockets.

For only the second time in 30 years, the tax board is lowering the point where each tax bracket begins, bumping many people into a higher category. At the same time, officials are cutting back some deductions. Everyone will pay more, even people whose bracket or income doesn't change.

The extra sums will total as much as $140 per family, on top of the increases previously enacted.

Hawaii tax picture is worse than expected

HONOLULU - A lack of construction and worries about swine flu caused Hawaii's economic seers to forecast that tax revenues will continue to drop before bouncing back next year.

The Council on Revenues predicted Thursday that revenues will decline through June, but the islands are set for a sharp rebound afterward.

''We're taking notice of some improvement,'' said Paul Brewbaker, the council's chairman. ''But at the same time, there are lingering challenges, primarily in the form of construction.''
