THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

The U.S. Strategic Bombing Survey, which interviewed 700 Japanese military and political officials after the war came to this conclusion: "Based on a detailed investigation of all the facts and supported by the testimony of the surviving Japanese leaders involved, it is the Survey's opinion that certainly prior to 31 December 1945, and in all probability prior to I November 1945, Japan would have surrendered even if the atomic bombs had not been dropped, even if Russia had not entered the war, and even if no invasion had been planned or contemplated."

20-Year-Old Letterhead points to Israeli Forgery in Francop Affair

The Israelis have been maintaining that a ship, the Francop, that their forces boarded near Cyprus originated in Iran and was bringing arms to Hizbullah and Hamas. Many US news outlets published the accompanying picture, which seemed to indicate that the arms were being supplied by the Ministry of the Sipah [i.e. of soldier].

The name of that ministry was changed 20 years ago, however, to the Ministry of Defense. One Iranian journalist opined, "So this begs the question of what the emblem of a nonexistent body was doing on the cargo?"

Webmaster's Commentary:

And of course why would Iran put any official labels on a clandestine cargo of weapons to begin with?

Nov 17 08:27

Israel faked Francop arms claims -- Iran

The Los Angeles Times and other media outlets published a series of photos that allegedly back the Israeli claims. Iran, however, says one of the photos -- an apparent shipping manifest from the Ministry of Sepah -- is from a defunct agency, suggesting Israel made up the story, state-funded broadcaster Press TV reports
.

Other reports from the Iranian media blame Western reports, the Times in particular, for hyping claims that Iran, Syria and Hezbollah denied.

"The newspaper should know that if a country plans to send a secret arms cargo to another, it will not brand the shipment with a full description of the batch," Iranian media reports stated.

“Hezb'Allah Knows Everything about the Israeli Army's Activities”

One day after Hezb'Allah General Secretary Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned Israel not to try to launch any aggression against Lebanon, promising it with humiliating defeat; Israeli media revealed Thursday that Hezb'Allah knows every single detail about the activities of the Israeli occupation army.

Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot said it has got a document confirming that Hezb'Allah knows every detail about the activities of the Israeli army and the command of the northern area and brigade 91 in the border area.

The Israeli paper says in its report issued Thursday morning, "The bulletin shows to what extent Hezb'Allah intelligence succeeded in penetrating into the Israeli army, and proves that Hezb'Allah has enough sources of information."

Nasrallah to Israelis: Send Your Whole Army, We'll Destroy Them!

Sayyed Nasrallah addressed Israeli, renewing commitment to the Resistance's pattern and choice. "Send as many Israeli brigades as you want, send even your whole army, we will destroy them in our valleys and mountains," his eminence said, addressing Israeli Prime Minister, Defense Minister and chief of staff.

His eminence then recalled of the US continuous support to Israel since the 2006 July war against Lebanon. "Since the July War, the US has offered Israel complete military and logistic support. The Obama administration came and sought to play the "hero" game claiming to spare efforts to suspend settlements. But I told you since the beginning it was just a trick and this is what happened, causing a sort of frustration within the Palestinians."

Only Resistance Can End Israeli Occupation

“During 18 years of resistance, many sacrificed their lives for defending Lebanon and liberating our country; the resistance movement owes its achievement to them and we will follow their path, which brought dignity to us,” the Hezb’Allah leader said.

He also called on Palestinians not to expect gaining their rights by counting on fake mediation efforts of the US, which is totally committed to Israeli interests.

“America is creating our problems; it is giving Israel all kinds of military and strategic support. US is backing away from pressuring Israel on settlements. How can we expect Washington to help us with our problems?” he asked.

Hezbollah gears up for new war

Hezbollah is rapidly rearming in preparation for a new conflict with Israel, fearing that Benjamin Netanyahu's government will attack Lebanon again prior to any assault on Iran's nuclear facilities.

The 2006 war between Hezbollah and Israel began after an ill-advised operation by to kidnap two Israeli soldiers, prompting a massive Israeli response that lasted 34 days and killed more than 1,000 people.

US: Further security breaches can reignite Lebanon-Israel hostilities

The US Special Coordinator for Lebanon warned on Friday that any further security breaches from Lebanon and Israel could lead to a resumption of hostilities between the two nations. Michael Williams’ statement voicing concern over Tuesday’s exchange of rocket fire across the Blue Line came amid media reports that Lebanon’s ambassador to the UN claimed Israel was planning a “vast attack” on the country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is precisely what Israel wants to happen, and one has to wonder how many of these bottle rockets were set up on timers to make it appear that Hizbullah was targeting Israel as an excuse to re-invade.

Lebanon warns UN: Israel planning to attack us

Lebanon's ambassador to the United Nations has warned that Israel is exhibiting signs of an imminent attack on his country, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Hayyat reported on Friday.

Ambassador Noaf Salaam sent missives to the United Nations secretary general and to the Security Council condemning Israel's recent artillery fire on the village of Houla, the site where a Katyusha rocket was fired at the Upper Galilee last week.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Those Katyushas were probably placed on the Lebanese border by Israeli soldiers, attempting to provoke a military confrontation.

But the next time Israel invades Lebanon (and this is a question of when, not if), look for the IDF to go all the way to the Litani River, and claim it as Israeli territory. Israel is desperate for the water it provides.

UN finds more rockets aimed at Israel from southern Lebanon

“Such attacks are evidently aimed at provoking renewed hostilities to undermine the security and stability in south Lebanon,” the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said in a news release, in which it also voiced concern at Israel’s return fire of artillery shells on Monday.

Lebanon: Israel arranged Katyusha fire to keep tensions high

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman on Thursday suggested that Israel had arranged for collaborators in his country to fire Katyusha rockets at the Galilee earlier this week, in a bid to keep tensions high in the area.

According to the Lebanese newspaper A-Sapir, Israel's declarations that it would not cease its intelligence activities on Lebanese territories validate Suleiman's accusations.

Israel cites more Lebanon rocket fire

The Israeli ambassador to the United Nations says the world body should investigate a rise in rocket fire coming across Israel's border from Lebanon.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I agree. The United nations should investigate is Israel is planting these largely ineffective but headline grabbing rockets to distract the world (and the UN) from the Goldstone Report.

The question everyone has to ask is this: Why would anyone in Lebanon fire these rather pointless fireworks rockets into Israel just when Israel most needs it? The rockets accomplish nothing except give Israel an easy means to draw attention away from the charge of War Crimes. The Lebanese, HAMAS, Hezbollah and Palestinians are all smart enough to understand that the longer they do nothing, the worse it will be for Israel.

Lebanon discovers rockets bound for Israel

A day after Israel's artillery attack on southern Lebanon, the Lebanese army troops say they have discovered four rockets ready to be launched at Israel.

The Katyusha-type rockets, which were set with timers, were found Wednesday in a half-built house in the border village of Hula, where nine Israeli artillery shells landed the night before.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So that's a Katyusha?

It's a glorified bottle-rocket!

Hand-made so it cannot be traced, small enough to smuggle across a border, set up on a wood ramp meaning the perps didn't really care if it hit anything or not as long as it was seen.

Qui Bono?

Note also that Hula is very near the Litani River, known to be an objective of Israel. It has been the site of previous massacres committed by the Israelis.

In Israel, a Key Test of Obama’s Retooled Missile Shield

This week, the United States and Israel kicked off a major air-defense exercise that will test scenarios including coordinated missile barrages launched from Iran or from Syria, as well as shorter-range rocket attacks by Hezbollah or Hamas.... Brig. Gen. Doron Gavish, commander of the Israel Air Force’s Air Defense Division, said in a press conference that the exercise was not related to Iran’s continued missile tests and enrichment of nuclear fuel. “It is a carefully designed exercise that has been taking place for years.” But Ha’aretz describes the drill as “preparation for a faceoff with Iran.”...

As part of the contingent of 1,000 U.S. troops taking part in the exercise, the Ohio Army National Guard’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and high-yield Explosive Enhanced Response Force will take part; the Guardsmen have been training with the Israeli Home Front Command as part of the exercise.

Rocket fire exchanged between Lebanon and Israel

A Katyusha-type rocket fired from Lebanon hit northern Israel on Tuesday night without causing any casualties, prompting Israel to retaliate with a salvo of missiles, sources on both sides said.

The rocket fired from Lebanon hit open ground east of the Israeli town of Kiryat Shmona and started a fire, which did not cause any serious damage, they said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Now that war with Iran is derailed by the pending nuclear agreement, Israel needs a war to distract the world from War Crimes charges being brought at the UN.

As usual, just when Israel needs it, an unidentified party fires a single fireworks rocket into Israel, hitting nothing of any value, thereby justifying Israel's "retaliation."

I mean, just stop and ask yourself, why would anyone actually in Lebanon give Israel what it most needs to have right now; a rocket that hits absolutely nothing of value, but gives Israel the excuse it needs for another attack on Lebanon? The Lebanese aren't stupid enough to do that, and you are not stupid enough to believe it.

Remember that the Lebanese routinely find planted rockets set up just inside the border, aimed back at Israel.

In this report, the rockets are old, fired with delayed timers, and propped up against pieces of furniture as launchers, meaning they were never intended to hit a specific target; just create a politically useful noise.

"By way of deception...."

Israeli daily Haaretz revealed on Monday that Israel informed the United Nations that it will continue its spying activities in Southern Lebanon after the United Nations has asked the Zionist entity for clarifications on “listening devices” that were uncovered near the village of Hula in southern Lebanon last week. The request was made following an official Lebanese petition to the UN.

According to Haaretz, Israel neither denied nor confirmed that it had placed intelligence-gathering equipment in the area, but informed the UN that “collecting intelligence” in southern Lebanon, in reference to spying, will continue “as long as the government in Beirut is not in full control of its territory.”

UN: Israeli Spy Devices Responsible for Lebanon Blasts

Planting such devices would be a flagrant violation of the resolution 1701 ceasefire agreement which ended the conflict, but while Israel declined to comment on the nature of the devices they said their discovery proved that Hezbollah was actually violating the deal. They also claimed that the UN report was part of a Hezbollah plot to distract attention from their violation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel's tantrums over the Goldstone Report have made it very difficult for her slaves in other governments to come to her aid. Screaming that the UN is "plotting" in Lebanon only makes Israel look even more like a paranoid raving lunatic soaked in the innocent blood of people she imagined to be enemies.

Under General Assembly Resolution 273, Israel was admitted on the condition that it grant all Palestinians the right to return to their homes and receive compensation for lost or damaged property, according to General Assembly Resolution 194, paragraph 11.

Suffice to say, Israel has never lived up to these terms.

Israel's membership in the UN is therefore null and void.

Israel may have planted spy gear in Lebanon: U.N.

A U.N. investigation into explosions in south Lebanon indicated on Sunday that Israel had planted spy devices on Lebanese land in what a senior U.N. official said would be a violation of a ceasefire agreement.

The UNIFIL peacekeeping force in Lebanon said its preliminary probe into two explosions in the south showed they had been caused by the detonation of underground sensor devices.

The units were apparently buried by Israeli forces during the 2006 war with the Lebanese Shi'ite group Hezbollah, it said.

"These do look like some sort of espionage device," Michael Williams, the U.N. special coordinator for Lebanon, told Reuters.

If confirmed, the devices would represent violations of Security Council resolution 1701 which halted the 34-day war.

Another Lebanese War on the Horizon?

The IDF Intelligence video released this week showing Hizbullah terrorists stockpiling long-range missiles is the proof that Israel needs to “take off its gloves” in the next round of warfare. So says long-time military analyst Yisrael Katzover, speaking with Arutz-7’s Hebrew newsmagazine.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The alleged re-arming by the Hizbullah is the "good reason" for yet another Israeli incursion into Lebanon.

But the real reason is the Litani River, and the fresh water Israel so desperately needs.

When Israel goes into Lebanon again ( not a question of if, but when), look for the IDF to go all the way to the Litani.

UPDATE: The "long range rockets" Israel accused Lebanon of stockpiling turned out to be sliding doors.

It's, once again, the Israeli "creativity" in fabricating stories…

Unfortunately, it's also once again the Lebanese and Arab "creativity" in "adopting" the Israeli "imagination" and spreading it…

On Monday, breaking news constituted the headlines in Lebanon, the Arab world and the Zionist entity. A "vague" blast hit the southern town of Teir Felsay causing a large number of deaths and injuries, including a member of Hezbollah and his son.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Here we go again! The warmongers, Israel, is doing its best to go to war with Lebanon again in order to wipe the embarrassment they suffered in the last war with Hezbollah. Now, these bastards are doing their best to provoke the Lebanese, and especially Hezbollah, to fire the first shot so as to justfiy Israel’s invasion.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I think those first two rockets from Lebanon were planted by Israel. After all, Lebanon and Hezbollah do not want a new war, therefore they would not fire the first shot. Less than a week later, the Lebanese army and United Nations troops found three rockets in southern Lebanon. The rockets were connected to timers and were set to fire just one hour after they were discovered.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The only reason for these rockets to be on timers is to allow the people who set them up to GET BACK OVER THE BORDER INTO ISRAEL.

Ever see a US soldier launch a missile using a timer? Of course not. Using a timer means you are not really aiming at anything because the intended target can move or be deserted by the time the missile hits.

2 Lebanese Rockets Fired Toward Israel

Two rockets were fired from southern Lebanon into Israel on Friday, prompting Israel to respond with artillery fire, Lebanese security and military officials said.

The exchange, in which no casualties were reported by either side, was the latest in persisting tensions between the two archenemies. It was the fourth time rockets have been fired from Lebanon into Israel, each time bringing Israeli retaliation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder just what elements in Lebanon actually fired those rockets.

Israel Wages War of Words Against Lebanon

Whether or not Israel decides to attack Lebanon in retaliation for the states defeat in 2006 by the resistance group of Hezb’Allah is still very much on the table and in the coming months I urge you all to keep your eyes and minds wide open – making sure to look out for elusive rhetoric being used by the Zionist state of Israel against Lebanon or Hezb’Allah.

If Lebanon is attacked the people can always rebuild their homes and their lives,my relatives in the South are clear examples of this impenetrable strength – and Israel has already been warned by Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, leader of Hezb’Allah:
“We tell the Israelis today that if they bombard Beirut or the Southern suburbs we will strike Tel Aviv”
And this,in light of the 2006 war against Lebanon,is a truthful promise.

Israeli politicians have learned nothing about how to deal with Lebanon

This newspaper has issued the warning before, about the possibility of Israel’s quest to derail the Obama agenda, whether for actual foreign policy reasons, or reasons of domestic political survival.

This derailing could take place in South Lebanon, if we’re not careful. There’s been a flurry of activity by diplomatic envoys, moving mainly among America, Syria and Turkey, but the situation, and the rhetoric, remain dangerous. Some believe, mistakenly, that a military solution can work.

Webmaster's Commentary:

While it is true that Israel appears to be ready to concoct any excuse for another military assault on Lebanon, and there may be competing agendas for why this would happen now, the ultimate reason may be far more pragmatic than the writer of this article would have you believe.

In a word, it's water; the water of the Litani River to be exact. Potable water is a problem for Israel. If they go back into Lebanon again, it will be largely for the water resources presented by the acquisition of the Litani.

Israel will hold Lebanon responsible for any future Hezbollah attack should the Iranian- and Syrian-backed militia be brought into Beirut's incoming government, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday.

Though U.S.-backed Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Saad al-Hariri bested Hezbollah in a June ballot, he is holding talks on a new coalition expected to include the Shi'ite group and its allies. Hezbollah has a minister in the outgoing cabinet.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, that's going to be the set-up, false-flag this time; Israel whacks one of its own, blames it on Hizbullah, and invades Lebanon again, this time attempting to get all the way to the Litani River.

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Ayalon has done a magnificent job of tipping Israel's hand to the rest of the world as to precisely the card to be played here.

73 Lebanese Knights,Riding Past Israel

During a religious celebration, mostly comemmorated by the Shi’a in Lebanon a group of men on horses were seen racing past the Lebanese border with Israel.

Since the Israel army withdrew from most of Southern Lebanon after its 2006 war with the Lebanese resistance group of Hezb’Allah, Lebanon and the international community have been waiting for Israeli forces to leave northern Ghajar, a border village divided into Israeli and Lebanese sectors by the United Nations in 2000.

Israel: "We will use ALL necessary Force" (Iran & Lebanon)

Israel’s defense minister Ehud Barak claimed on Thursday that Hezb’Allah has stockpiled 40,000 rockets and warned the Zionist entity would get tough in case of a conflict with Lebanon.

“We cannot accept that a neighboring UN member state should have in its government representatives of a militia that has more than 40,000 rockets,” Barak claimed during an interview with Israeli public radio.

“If there is a conflict on our northern border, we will use all necessary force,” he said, threatening Lebanese once again.

“What happened in the second Lebanon war will not happen again … at the time a message from the United States indicated we must spare Lebanon’s infrastructure,” the minister said.

Israel:”Peace Could Explode At Any Minute”

Nearly 3 years on after the Israeli defeat and the anniversary of the “Divine Victory”, Israeli occupation officials continued on Wednesday with their “bullying campaign” against Lebanon and its people threatening that the northern front could “explode at any minute“ while at the same time expressing their concern of the possibility of a deteriorating security situation.

The tomb of Israel lies in Lebanon, and the shadow of freedom shall set over the people of Palestine through the resistance movement.

Qahwaji orders troops on high alert to face any Israeli threat

The commander of the Lebanese Army, General Jean Qahwaji, ordered the Lebanese Armed Forces on Thursday to stay on high alert in anticipation of any Israeli aggression on Lebanon. In a statement to celebrate the Lebanese Army’s 64th anniversary on August 1, Qahwaji urged the military establishment to preserve its unity in order to face upcoming threats and challenges.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The General and civilian leadership in Lebanon understand very well that Israel is looking for an excuse, any excuse, to invade Lebanon again.

This time, the IDF will try to get all the way to the Litani river, because Israel is running out of drinkable water.

ISRAEL UPS THE TEMPO IN ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO KICK START A FIGHT WITH LEBANON.

Despite denials yesterday by the Israeli Chief of Staff, General Gabi Ashkenazi, that all is well on the northern front where Israel’s border meets Lebanon, Israeli tanks and troops are piling up at the border and Israeli Air Force jets are flying more frequent sorties in to Lebanese airspace.

Jul 28 15:15

Is Israel preparing to attack Lebanon?

Here we go again! The warmongers, Israel, is doing its best to go to war with Lebanon again in order to wipe the embarrassment they suffered in the last war with Hezbollah. Now, these bastards are doing their best to provoke the Lebanese, and especially Hezbollah, to fire the first shot so as to justfiy Israel’s invasion. There
are confirmed reports of advancing Israeli tanks in the Sheba Farms area. Six Israeli jets have entered Lebanese airspace and have circled the area. It seems that these Israeli Jews are never happy unless they have war in their blood. And then they have the nerve to accuse Arabs of trying to wipe Israel off the map. Poor little souls.

Jul 27 18:17

ISRAEL’S MENACING RHETORIC TOWARD LEBANON AND THREATS TOWARD IRAN ARE INTRINSICALLY LINKED.

Israel has made it quite clear that in any future conflict with Hezbollah, Israel will regard the Lebanese government as being responsible for Hezbollah’s actions. This means that any attack Israel launches against Hezbollah will now include action against all of Lebanon and Lebanon’s armed forces.

Since Israel now regards Hezbollah as an integral part of the Lebanese government, any future war launched by Israel to destroy Hezbollah will have to involve a full-on invasion – which, of course, is what the Israelis have always wanted to do and have attempted a number of times before. But next time will different. Next time the Israelis invade Lebanon it will be with overwhelming force and the resulting occupation of southern Lebanon up to the Litani River will likely be permanent.

Judge Mizher has issued an arrest warrant against Faqih, reason being he had been spying for the Apartheid State of Israel – And if this was not enough he was also supplying Israel with confidential information about the Lebanese resistance group Hezballah, the Lebanese Armed Forces and the Internal Security Forces in Lebanon. Marwan Kamel al Faqih is also being accused of visiting the Palestinian occupied territories, “meeting with Mossad officials and training to use advanced communication devices to contact Tel Aviv.”

Unlike Iraq, there is no “weapons of mass destruction threat” to facilitate toppling the Syrian regime. This time, a United Nations Tribunal could provide the means, deploying Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri's murder as the weapon. But like the US show trial to convict Saddam Hussein, the show trial to convict Syria for Hariri's murder, built by the United Nation's International Independent Investigation Commission (UNIIIC), has a history of problems.

Erich Follath, “der Spiegel´s”secret chief and a very good friend of the Mossad

That Erich Follath would know, where the headquarters of intelligence agencies are located is not surprising, since already in 1979 Follath had written another interesting book
"The Eye of David: The secret commando-raids by the Israelis"
On June 22, 2009 after it became clear, that an overthrow of the newly elected government and an extended civil war in Iran wasn´t going to happen any time soon,Follath wrote the headline:
POTENTIAL FOR APOCALYPSE-Is War between Iran and Israel Inevitable?
On the surface the article compares the attitude of both Netanjahu and Ahmadinejad, coming to the conclusion that both are equally driven by religious extremism....
But if you frame a conflict in the terms of “irrational religion”, it becomes unsolvable and you don´t have to care about legitimate grievances, which could easily be tackled in a constructive manner. And so conveniently the conflict stays unsolved for a long time, which is in the interest of the privileged elite and their media servants.

UNIFIL refutes Israeli reports it found 20 rockets in Lebanon

The spokeswoman of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) dismissed on Friday a report carried by an Israeli newspaper that UN peacekeepers found around 20 Katyusha rockets that were ready for launch in south Lebanon. "The news report is inaccurate," Yasmina Bouziane said on Friday, adding that if the news had been correct, the UN will be "immediately notified through the appropriate channels."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israel Tests 'Doomsday' Response

Israel has begun its largest-ever defence drill, testing the response of its emergency services to a "doomsday scenario" of missile attacks, bombings and natural disasters.

The five-day national exercise got under way on Sunday, with defence officials playing down any connection to recent and growing tensions with Iran.

The drill simulates simultaneous rocket strikes from the Gaza Strip and Lebanon and missile attacks from Iran and Syria.

It will test the way rescue services deal with attacks, including conventional, chemical and biological strikes against large population centres.

Time for Transparency at Der Spiegel?

Syria was accused in the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafic Hariri of being the ‘real’ assassins. A massive international anti-Syria campaign was launched by the Bush Administration and Israel to demonize its government.

But things have changed. This weekend, a new exclusive, secret, investigative report showing the real assassins was published by the same weekly, Der Spiegel. Same author. Same editor. New target.

This time Der Spiegel’s Erich Follath claimed solo that the international committee investigating the assassination of former Prime Minister martyr Rafik Hariri has reached “surprising new secret conclusions”, this time pointing to Hezbollah.

US Threatens to Pull Lebanon Aid Depending on Election Outcome

Biden linked US aid to the nation with the outcome of the election, cheered the current ruling parties and cautioned the nation against electing what he called “the spoilers of peace,” presumably referring to Hezbollah.

Recent polls suggest that the Hezbollah-led opposition has a very good chance of winning the June 7 poll. Hezbollah opposition faction includes a significant portion of the nation’s Christian voters. Contrary to its international image as a hawkish, Shi’ite Islamist faction, Hezbollah’s campaign has emphasized support for Lebanon’s diverse religious character.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If this is a free and fair election, the US should acknowledge the outcome, and see what concrete steps can be taken to intelligently partner with the government taking shape for the good of all the people of Lebanon.

Of course, Israel won't stand for that.

In fact, the Israeli military just concluded a huge, "pull out all the stops" war game, envisioning war against every one of their neighbors.

The timing, right before Lebanon's elections, was a belligerently crude warning, writ large, about a possible military Israeli response if the "right" parties did not win.

U.N. doubts major Hezbollah rearming in south Lebanon

It is highly unlikely that Lebanese Hezbollah militants have more weapons now in southern Lebanon than they did at the time of their 2006 war with Israel, the head of U.N. peacekeeping said Wednesday.

Israel says Hezbollah continues to increase its weapons stockpiles south of the Litani River where the 13,000-strong UNIFIL peacekeeping mission is charged with keeping out armed fighters and illicit weapons.

"I think it would be very difficult for Hezbollah to put additional weapons in the area," Alain Le Roy, the French head of the U.N. Department of Peacekeeping, told reporters.

FLASHBACK - 'Respecting Lebanon's Sovereignty'

Foxman was invited to the studio to comment on Kofi Annan's announcement that four UN observers had been apparently killed by Israel deliberately. From the odd choice of "expert" for this subject to the style and content, the "interview" – in a prestigious foreign news weekly magazine – looked like propaganda from the darkest regimes.
