Baltimore County Spends $147 Million On School Laptops; Four Years Later Test Scores Still Terrible

Four years ago Baltimore County began a $147 million program to put laptops in the hands of students from first through 12th grade in the hopes that access to technology would transform the way kids learn and boost the lowest standardized test scores in the state, according to a new report cited by the Baltimore Sun's Liz Bowie

The Future of Education is Borderless

These Two Analogies Will Help You Explain Bitcoin to Anyone

By Kai Sedgwick

Explaining Bitcoin to someone who knows nothing about Bitcoin isn’t easy. In fact it’s fiendishly tricky. Describing concepts such as blockchain, decentralized networks, and permissionless ledgers to beginners is as tough as describing the color orange to a blind person or the taste of an orange to someone who’s never peeled one. Two new Bitcoin analogies surfaced this week, however, that should make that task easier...

The Pro-Israel Push to Purge US Campus Critics

There are signs that we’ve reached a tipping point in US public recognition of Israel’s suppression of the rights of Palestinians as a legitimate human rights concern. Increasingly, students on campuses across the country are calling on their universities to divest from companies that do business in Israel. Newly elected members of Congress are saying what was once unsayable: that perhaps the US should question its unqualified diplomatic and financial support for Israel, our closest ally in the Middle East, and hold it to the same human rights scrutiny we apply to other nations around the globe. Global companies such as Airbnb have recognized that their business practices must reflect international condemnation of the illegality of Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Natalie Portman, Lorde, and other celebrities have declined appearances in Israel, acknowledging the call to boycott the Israeli government on account of its human rights violations.

Did Alan Dershowitz Relinquish His Chair at Harvard Law School — Or Was He Forced Out?

Convicted sex offender Jeffrey E. Epstein is not a Harvard alum. Nor is he a faculty member or an affiliate of the University. In fact, he does not even hold a college degree.

But the billionaire — who for years operated a sex ring of underage girls out of his Palm Beach, Fla. home, the Miami Herald reported in a three-part feature Wednesday — nonetheless boasts deep and longstanding ties to Harvard.

Epstein has donated millions of dollars to the University. His money funded the construction of at least one campus building, still standing today. He cultivated cozy friendships with top Harvard administrators including a former University president. And he forged close professional and personal ties to Alan M. Dershowitz, a high-profile professor emeritus at Harvard Law School who also allegedly had sexual relations with a minor.

Dept. of Education to cancel $150 million in student loan debt

The U.S. Department of Education announced Thursday it would automatically cancel $150 million in student loans connected to for-profit colleges that closed in recent years.

The move was made under an Obama-era policy that a federal judge in October essentially forced U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos to implement. The story was first reported by Politico.

The discharge of loans applies automatically to about 15,000 students who attended now-defunct colleges that closed between Nov. 1, 2013, and Dec. 4, 2018, according to the department's announcement.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This was absolutely the right thing to do.

But what about other colleges and universities which offer degrees which may never find a student employable?!?

Students, please put an intelligent amount of skull-sweat into determining which school you will go to, and what the placement level statistics in any given field might be.

Any school recruiter worth their salt, will attempt to get you to enroll at the school they are pitching.

But you have to do the due dilligence, in terms of what the numbers really look like, in terms job placement. Find a way to talk to other students who have graduated with the same degree you want to attain, and ask them how well their job search went, after they graduated.

It's your life; but you have to put some good, solid research into where you want to go post high school, and how you are going to get there, which, preferably, would not involve taking on huge student loans which will saddle you with a debt burden for many years to come.

NYU rejects student demand to ditch investments in Israeli occupation

Educators, Holocaust group join Sept. 11 museum in ‘teaching’ children official 9/11 lies

The 9/11 official story is rooted in deception, distortion, and misdirection. Now all of its lies have been dressed up and put on display in an expensive federally funded monument for paying customers.

The National September 11 Memorial and Museum is more of a walk-in indoctrination center than a tribute to the victims of 9/11. It’s a piece of propaganda made of glass and steel that plays on emotions and on the sincere desire of people to honor those who sacrificed their lives in this false flag event.

The Memorial and Museum’s web site not only reiterates all the same lies, but it even explains a framework that educators will be using to indoctrinate children so they can grow up to be believers in the war on terror and the need for more wars and greater and greater security and surveillance. Even as the mainstream media turn their attention to misrepresenting other events, the museum and accompanying “lesson plans” for school children will continue to do their work.

HOW SCHOOL DISTRICTS WEAPONIZE CHILD PROTECTION SERVICES AGAINST UNCOOPERATIVE PARENTS

chooling is adept at rooting out individuality and enforcing compliance. In his book, Understanding Power, Noam Chomsky writes:

In fact, the whole educational and professional training system is a very elaborate filter, which just weeds out people who are too independent, and who think for themselves, and who don’t know how to be submissive, and so on—because they’re dysfunctional to the institutions.

This filtering process begins very early in a child’s schooling as conformity is rewarded and divergence is punished.

PUBLIC SCHOOLING BREEDS OBEDIENCE
Most of us played this game as schoolchildren. We know the rules. The kids who raise their hands, color in the lines, and obey succeed; the kids who challenge the rules struggle. The problem now is that the rules are extending beyond the classroom. Parents are increasingly required to obey, to conform to a school’s demands even if they believe such orders may not be appropriate for their child.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This kind of power over a kid's life doesn't belong to the public education folks; it belongs to the parents, period, end of discussion.

Harvard's $39B Endowment Is Secretly Acquiring California's Water Supply

Harvard University's endowment (valued at $39 billion as of 2018) is the largest academic endowment in the world. The private investment company has been quietly snapping up farmland and related water rights to properties located in the California region.

Instead of purchasing the land in Harvard Management Company, Inc.'s own name, asset managers secretly formed a wholly owned subsidiary - called Brodiaea, which was the vehicle to purchase more than a dozen investments in California vineyards over the last six years.

Harvard formed Brodiaea in 2012, and by 2015 the company had already acquired 10,000 acres in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties for roughly $60 million, according to Reuters.

Breaking: Temple will not punish Marc Lamont Hill, issues condemnation

Following a Board of Trustees meeting this afternoon, Temple University President Richard Englert released a statement on behalf of the board, announcing that professor Marc Lamont Hill will not be punished or investigated for his Nov. 28 speech during an event organized with the United Nations. In that speech, Hill called for “a free Palestine from the river to the sea.” Englert, in delivering the statement, affirmed that Hill “spoke as a private citizen and his right to do so is protected by the constitution.”

The announcement finds Temple returning to its initial statement, which recognized that Hill’s speech was protected by the First Amendment.

Marc Lamont Hill and the Israeli lobby on US campuses

Calls for Marc Lamont Hill's 'dismissal' from Temple University shows Israel is losing the battle at US universities.
***
Conservative forces, especially those backing the state of Israel, have a far more egregious and well-financed programme for making sure that debate on Palestine is not only silenced but punished as well. And they do so with material and other support from Israel.

This is evident in Hill's case. Patrick O'Connor, the President of Temple's Board of Trustees has asked its legal office about possible punishment. O'Connor declared: "I'm not happy. The board's not happy. The administration's not happy. People wanted to fire him right away ... We're going to look at what remedies we have."

In this case as well as many others, university administrators have sided with the Israel lobby.>>>

Mom Confronts LGBT School Officials And They Responded In The Worst Way

And in response, the school was furious.

Not only did they dismiss her concerns, but they took it out on her son.

Yes, LGBT school officials acted like thugs and directed their misguided outrage on a 5-year-old child.

“Coincidentally” on the same day the mother expressed her valid objection to forcing a 5-year-old child to celebrate homosexuality, the school punished the 5-year-old by putting him in detention for 3 hours!

Then they punished him the following day.

Since then he has been the target of a campaign of lies by pro-Israel groups falsely characterizing the speech as anti-Semitic and calling for genocide against Jews.

New York University student government adopts BDS-inspired divestment resolution

The New York University (NYU) Student Government Assembly passed a divestment resolution inspired by the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS) last night, in what campaigners hailed as “the first resolution of this nature ever to be presented at NYU”.

The resolution, backed by 61 student groups and 34 faculty members, calls for “divesting from corporations that violate Palestinian human rights and calls on NYU to adopt a socially responsible investment policy that upholds human rights for all”.

Gloria Steinem - How The CIA Used Feminism To Destabilize Society

"In the 1960´s, the elite media invented second-wave feminism as part of the elite agenda to dismantle civilization and create a New World Order."

Since writing these words last week, I have discovered that before she became a feminist leader, Gloria Steinem worked for the CIA spying on Marxist students in Europe and disrupting their meetings. She became a media darling due to her CIA connections. MS Magazine, which she edited for many years was indirectly funded by the CIA.

Steinem has tried to suppress this information, unearthed in the 1970´s by a radical feminist group called "Red Stockings." In 1979, Steinem and her powerful CIA-connected friends, Katharine Graham of the Washington Post and Ford Foundation President Franklin Thomas prevented Random House from publishing it in "Feminist Revolution." Nevertheless the story appeared in the "Village Voice" on May 21, 1979.

How Rockefeller Created Feminism And Enslaved Humanity

In 50 short years since Rockefeller lobbed the feminism grenade into every American household, many women have lost touch with their natural loving instincts. Consequently, the family is in disarray, sexual depravity is rampant and birth rates have plummeted.

A woman makes this supreme sacrifice to only one man who will cherish her and provide for his family. Men instinctively want to fulfill this responsibility. This is the essence of the heterosexual contract (i.e. marriage): female power in exchange for male power expressed as love. Sex is the symbol of this exclusive bond. Marriage and family may not be for everyone but it is the natural path for most.

Feminism has trained women to reject this model as “an old fashioned, oppressive stereotype” even though it reflects their natural instincts.

DHS Opposes GOP’s Stealth Bill to Outsource College Graduate Jobs

Republican leaders are expected to drop a political stinker on President Donald Trump by mid-December: a donor-backed amendment that would allow investors to import more college-graduates from India to take jobs now held by American college graduates.

The GOP-run amendment puts 300,000 imported Indian temporary workers and 300,000 of their family members on a fast-track to green-cards, Americans’ jobs, citizenship, and the ballot box — but it provides no benefits to middle-class Americans.

The GOP amendment would provide Democratic-leaning donors with more imported white-collar workers, more temporary workers, more profits, and higher stock values — but it provides nothing to help the GOP win the 2020 election.

Yet the little-known amendment “is very much alive,” a source told Breitbart News.

REPORT: SOROS-FUNDED UNIVERSITY FORCED OUT OF HUNGARY

A university funded by George Soros has been forced out of the billionaire’s native country of Hungary, according to a Monday report.

“The Central European University, founded by George Soros, said on Monday it had been forced out of Hungary in “an arbitrary eviction” that violated academic freedom, and it confirmed plans to enroll new students in neighboring Austria next year,” said Reuters.

Soros, who donates millions to leftist nonprofits mostly in the United States, has been engulfed in a battler with the right-leaning leader of his native land, Prime Minister Victor Orban. The main point of contention is immigration policy. Soros often funds open borders groups, while Hungary has refused to partake in the harboring of Middle Eastern and African migrants. Orban forced Soros’ Open Societies Foundation out of Hungary earlier this year.

Harvard Study Shows the Dangers of Early School Enrollment

By Kerry McDonald

Every parent knows the difference a year makes in the development and maturity of a young child. A one-year-old is barely walking while a two-year-old gleefully sprints away from you. A four-year-old is always moving, always imagining, always asking why, while a five-year-old may start to sit and listen for longer stretches.

Growing Expectations vs. Human Behavior

Children haven’t changed, but our expectations of their behavior have. In just one generation, children are going to school at younger and younger ages, and are spending more time in school than ever before. They are increasingly required to learn academic content at an early age that may be well above their developmental capability...

The Coming Bankruptcy Of The American Empire

Better to bring the troops home on our terms than wait for a debt crisis to do it for us...

The chickens are coming home to roost. It’s only a question of when.

Herbert Stein was chair of the Council of Economic Advisors under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford and is the father of the more well known Ben Stein. In 1976, he propounded what he called “Stein’s Law”: if something cannot go on forever, it will stop. Stein was referring to economic trends, but the same law applies just as much to foreign policy and the concept of empire.

Stein’s Law at first glance might seem like a banal platitude. But we should be fully cognizant of its implications: an unsustainable system must have an end. The American empire is internally flawed, a fact that anti-imperialists both left and right should appreciate.

Why Cannabinoids Appear to Cure so many Illnesses

The reason why cannabinoids appear to "cure" so many illnesses is because prior to prohibition they were part of the human food chain. Dairy cows ate feral hemp, which was rich in CBD and passed the CBDs to humans through their milk.

Pigs, chickens and other livestock were also fed hemp and the CBDs were in their meat and eggs.

The endocannabinoids naturally found in human breast milk, which are vital for proper human development, have virtually identical effects as cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Amazingly, the mechanism at work after smoking or eating cannabis, when adults get the “munchies, is essentially the same as what causes breastfeeding babies to seek protein-rich milk.

Weissberg: Why Do College Administrators Lie About Race?

Americans generally take a dim view of lying and liars. We venerate George-“I cannot tell a lie—Washington and those giving testimony in court must swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth and those lying under oath risk being be found guilty of perjury, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison in federal cases. Particularly relevant is how universities punish those falsifying research. All in all, while deceitfulness may be ubiquitous in today’s morally challenged environment, mendacity has yet to become a valued cultural norm.

Why, then, do so many university administrators, including presidents at elite schools, tell bold-faced lies regarding race-related issues?

Fruits of College Indoctrination

Benjamin Franklin wrote, “Whoever would overthrow the Liberty of a Nation, must begin by subduing the Freeness of Speech.” Much later, Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart said, “Censorship reflects a society’s lack of confidence in itself. It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime.” From the Nazis to Stalinists to Maoists, tyrants have always started out supporting free speech, just as American leftists did during the 1960s. Their support for free speech is easy to understand. Speech is vital for the realization of their goals of command, control and confiscation. The right to say what they please is their tool for indoctrination, propagandizing and proselytization. Once the leftists gain control, as they have at many universities, free speech becomes a liability and must be suppressed. This is increasingly the case on university campuses. Much of the off-campus incivility we see today is the fruit of what a college education has done to our youth.

A Las Vegas man was sent to the ICU following receiving a flu shot. Monique Morgan says her husband, Shane, was given a flu shot on November 2nd. He began showing symptoms of the flu shortly after the shot.
“36 hours afterward, he developed flu-like symptoms,” said Morgan. Flu symptoms soon turned to paralysis.

“He’s like I can’t feel my legs… I need you to take me to the emergency room,” said Morgan. Doctors treating Shane believe it could be a “rare disease” called Guillain-Barré syndrome that is often linked to the flu shot.

University of Michigan faces mounting criticism over BDS controversy

A familiar chant - "No justice, no peace" - echoed through the president's office at the University of Michigan earlier this week, as dozens of graduate students hand-delivered a letter denouncing the academic institution for punishing a professor for boycotting Israel.

John Cheney-Lippold, an associate professor of American culture, has received an outpouring of support since the university reprimanded him earlier this month for refusing to write a letter of recommendation for a student looking to study in Israel.

Free speech advocates, university institutions and academic organisations have come to Cheney-Lippold's defence.

University lecturers told DON'T USE CAPS as it frightens students

Staff at Leeds Trinity's school of journalism have also been told to "write in a helpful, warm tone, avoiding officious language and negative instructions". Some blasted the move as "more academic mollycoddling" of the snowflake generation. An "enhancing student understanding, engagement and achievement" memo lists dos and don'ts - with "do" and "don't" among words frowned upon.

I recorded this at 3AM. Sorry if I sound lame.
We pretty much all know by now Youtube attacked all MGTOW related channels. Here are some ideas on how we can respond. We are under attack simply for being men, this goes beyond MGTOW. Tomorrow it might be illegal to have a penis. We need to fight back.

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Board of Education preliminarily voted Tuesday night to restore Hillary Clinton and Helen Keller to the state’s history curriculum and to slightly soften language about the Arab-Israeli conflict – surprising moments of bipartisanship for members who have long waged ideological battles about how students in the nation’s second largest state learn history.

OHIO STATE STUDENT GROUP: BEN SHAPIRO'S WORDS CAN 'THREATEN' 'MENTAL SAFETY'

A student group at Ohio State University (OSU) sent a warning to its members prior to a Tuesday by conservative commentator Ben Shapiro.

The Student Advisory Council of the Morrill Scholars Program at OSU sent an email in order to create “awareness around this event in preparation for the impact that his words, beliefs, and followers may have on our community.” The email specifically targeted Young America’s Foundation (YAF) and Shapiro, who is editor-in-chief of The Daily Wire, and claims that many of his views are “misogynist,” “racist,” and “transphobic.”

A member of the Morrill Scholars Program confirmed the existence of the email to Campus Reform on Wednesday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but what kind of absolute, colossal bit of codswallop this is!!

IF, as a college student, you cannot verbally rebut, when you think that an idea or attitude is incorrect, and have the facts of your argument at your fingertips, then I am sorry for you, because your college education has been an utter, complete waste of time.

The "Real World" into which you will graduate, has no mercy on people who are incapable of dealing with an argument.

This world It is hard, fast, and will eat you up, and spit you out, if you are pathologically incapable of taking care of yourself, and not turning into a spineless plate of jello, every time you hear something that is contrary to your values. Because you will hear that... a lot.

So, Ohio State University students, life's tough; get a helmet!. And please, go see this lecture, and see if this man is really that terrifying, or ... if, perhaps, "influencers" on campus, really don't want you to go, not because they are " terrified" by his language, but that perhaps you will learn something that may well be contrary to currently held beliefs...and be the truth.

And we now have a follow-up to this story: SHOCK VIDEO: UNHINGED PROTESTERS TRY TO SHUT DOWN BEN SHAPIRO AT OHIO STATE

Antifa labels Jewish conservative a Nazi fascist.

This is an Orwellian moment, writ large; universities no longer teach, or encourage independent, critical thinking. Even though I might abhor what someone might say, I would defend their right to say it.

I thought that this was part of the core principals of the American democratic Republic.

But fast forward to this point in the 21st century, and we find that they are teaching identity politics, and demanding that students hate everyone they, and "the influencers" hate; it is just that simple.

Student beats up, attempts to strangle teacher as French school violence hits headlines again

Just as France calmed down after the case of a student threatening a teacher with a ‘gun’ in class went viral, another scandal has hit the suburbs of Paris after a student beat and attempted to strangle his teacher at a school.

The violent incident took place at a vocational high school in the Bezons commune earlier in November, when a 16-year-old attacked his math professor after he told him to leave the class.

In this talk, Andreas recounts the history of Bitcoin and what it represents, building upon all the stories we've been told over the centuries about what "money" is, how we perceive its value, and why the old answers have changed as we adjust to this new world of digital peer-to-peer currencies. THE STATE WEAPONIZES EDUCATION TO CREATE IGNORANCE

A hundred fifty years ago, at least some Americans recognized that all serious discourse depended on the use of the faculty called Reason.

Formal debate, science, and law all flowed from that source.

A common bond existed in some schools of the day. The student was expected to learn how Reason operates, and for that he was taught the only subject which could lay out, as on a long table, the visible principles: Logic.

This was accepted.

But now, this bond is gone.

The independence engendered by the disciplined study of logic is no longer a desired quality in students.

Webmaster's Commentary:

You can even see it in the architecture of a lot of recently refurbished or newly built schools; they look as though they could be prisons for low-level criminals, instead of beautiful places which encourage thought or reflection.

D.C. BUREAUCRATS ARE TRYING TO MAKE PARENTS GET A LICENSE TO LET CHILDREN PLAY TOGETHER

Let’s say you and some of your friends decide to gather your young children together a couple of days a week for a few hours of free play. Maybe you switch off who leads the gaggle of kids each week, allowing for some shared free time and flexibility. Sounds like a great arrangement for all, right? Your kids get to play freely with their friends, and you get some occasional free babysitting.

According to government officials in Washington, DC, arrangements like this are violations of the law. They are cracking down on what they call an illegal “child development facility” operating without a license.

CHINA'S BRIGHTEST CHILDREN ARE BEING RECRUITED TO DEVELOP AI 'KILLER BOTS' - SLASHDOT

According to The South China Morning Post, "some of China's smartest students have been recruited straight from high school to begin training as the world's youngest AI weapons scientists." A total of 27 boys and four girls all under the age of 18 were chosen for the four-year "experimental program for intelligent weapons systems" at the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) from more than 5,000 candidates. From the report:The BIT is one of the country's top weapons research institutes, and the launch of the new program is evidence of the weight it places on the development of AI technology for military use. "These kids are all exceptionally bright, but being bright is not enough," said a BIT professor who was involved in the screening process but asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the subject. "We are looking for other qualities such as creative thinking, willingness to fight, a persistence when facing challenges," he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Again here, the problem is not that China is doing this; the problem is that the US really has no similar programs to offer its young, gifted people, but without the strictures of a totalitarian form of government.

And about the issue of "patriotism"; patriotism is earned by a government performing its job intelligently and effectively, and without expropriating the resources of other countries and selling them only for the US dollar, through war and destabilization, which has been the US government's MO far too long.

I wish that this government would realize that the size of its national debt is really a challenge to its long-term survival.

I also wish that the deep state corruption, which is generational in this government, could be rooted out.

I also wish that this country would not aid and abet the war crimes of other nations.

I also wish that this country didn't torture, or outsource torture.

With these things sorted, I could become very patriotic, instead of perpetually, deeply concerned about the trajectory of US foreign and domestic policies, and their implications.

Leaked Documentary Shows Israel Lobby Used Fake Sexual Assault Claims Against BDS Activists

A leaked Al Jazeera documentary detailing the tactics of the Israeli lobby in the United States and elsewhere has revealed that pro-Israel groups regularly invented smears, including false accusations of sexual assault, to discredit professors and students on U.S. university campuses that support equal rights for Palestinians and the Boycott, Divest and Sanctions (BDS) movement. BDS is a non-violent movement that seeks to use economic pressure on Israel’s government so that it complies with international law, ends the military occupation of the West Bank, and halts the decades-long blockade of the Gaza Strip.
