Arab-Israel MK: Netanyahu using Iran tensions to stay in power

Arab-Israeli Knesset Member (MK) Yousef Jabareen has claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is using tensions with Iran to stay in power ahead of the country’s general election.

Speaking to British newspaper the Express, Jabareen explained that Netanyahu “will do anything to survive” Israel’s upcoming general election on 17 September, including overstating tensions with Iran and conducting “military attacks” on the already-besieged Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu’s prospects of re-election as yet remain uncertain, with the latest polls showing he could face a repeat of April’s outcome, when he failed to form a government after deadlocked coalition talks. Having been told he can only cancel September’s election in the event of extreme circumstances such as war, there is now speculation that Netanyahu could take drastic steps to avoid electoral defeat.

Israel issued 432 administrative detention orders in 2019

Israeli occupation authorities have issued 432 administrative detention orders against Palestinians since the start of 2019, the Palestine Prisoners’ Centre for Studies (PPCS) reported yesterday.

The PPCS’ spokesman Riyadh Al-Ashqar said that the number included 294 renewed orders and 138 new orders.

He noted that the orders ranged from between two and six months.

Al-Ashqar said that the continuous Israeli detention of Palestinian prisoners without trials is a clear violation of international laws and conventions.

Protests by Ethiopian Jews bring Israel closer to fragmentation

Israel has been in chaos since last month, when an Israeli police officer killed a young Ethiopian Jew in Haifa, suspecting that the young man and his companions had thrown stones at him. The incident sparked anger within the Ethiopian community, which insists that the police shoot its members too readily for racist reasons; this was not the first incident of its kind. Similar events indicate racist motives, leading to protests, some of them violent.

In the days following the killing of the young man, hundreds of Ethiopian Jews started demonstrating in different parts of Israel, particularly Tel Aviv, and closed some of the major crossroads. The protests expanded until thousands of people blocked other streets. Masked protesters set fire to rubbish containers and tyres; dozens of them were arrested, and some were injured.

African Group to UN: Hold Israel accountable for crimes against Palestinians

The African Group has called on the United Nations (UN) to hold Israel accountable for its crimes against Palestinians.

The African Group – sometimes known as the Group of African States – is a regional assembly within the UN comprised of 54 member states from the African continent. It represents 28 per cent of all UN members.

The group yesterday addressed the 41st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, Switzerland, one item of which discussed the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt).

The group’s representative, Andre da Conceicao Domingos of Angola, called for the international community to act to end Israel’s now 52-year-old occupation and the blockade it has imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2007, as well as to end Israel’s illegal settlement project, imprisonment of Palestinians and policy of collective punishment.

Israel to push mobile companies to improve settlement coverage

The Israeli government is set to press mobile phone companies to improve coverage for illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank, reported business news site Globes.

According to the report, “one of the first tasks” for incoming Minister of Communications David Ansalem “is dealing with the poor mobile reception in Judea and Samaria [occupied West Bank].”

Greenblatt: US to reopen PLO office if talks with Israel resume

US Special Representative for International Negotiations, Jason Greenblatt, has said that the White House is to reopen the PLO’s office in Washington if Israeli-Palestinian talks resume.

In an interview with the Palestinian daily Al-Ayyam published yesterday, he said: “The PLO office in Washington can be reopened once negotiations are resumed.”

“The PLO office could have been kept open if it was involved in a peace process,” he said, noted that it was closed “because President Abbas threatened Israel with going to the ICC.”

Regarding the closure of the consulate in Jerusalem, he said: “We have a responsibility to American taxpayers. If we have a diplomatic mission in Jerusalem because we have now recognised that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, the presence of two diplomatic missions in Jerusalem is a waste of money from taxpayers.”

Kamala Harris supports segregation by supporting Israel

Harris was moving when she talked about how as a child, “my sister and I had to deal with the neighbor who told us her parents [said she] couldn’t play with us because we were Black.” She recounted that as a little girl, she was a member of only the second racially integrated class in her public school.

She touted her record fighting for civil rights as attorney general of California and defended the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act, and called for passing an Equality Act.

But whatever her record in the US, Harris’ support for freedom, civil rights and equality does not extend to one group of people systematically and violently denied them: Palestinians.

How Israeli influence is squashing free speech in Germany

The Bank for Social Economy is considered a relatively progressive bank in Germany because its customers are mostly civil society organisations.

Yet, when it comes to denying Palestinians the right to boycott the Israeli occupation and colonialism, I believe the bank violated the German constitution, by silencing a Jewish organisation that does solidarity work with Palestinian groups in Germany.

Last month, the bank closed the account of Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East, a Jewish solidarity organisation in Germany that won the 2019 Gottingen Peace Prize.

Spying for Israel Is Consequence Free

Back in the spring I wrote about coming across the name Arnon Milchan by chance on a movie credit while flying from Venice to Washington. Milchan, some might recall, is a Hollywood billionaire movie producer born in Israel, well known for such films as Pretty Woman and Bohemian Rhapsody. He is less well known for his role in arranging for the procurement and illegal transfer of U.S. technology that enabled the Jewish state to develop its own nuclear arsenal. Far from being ashamed of his betrayal of the adopted country that helped make him rich and famous, in 2011 he authorized and contributed to a ghost-written biography, which he boastfully entitled “Confidential: The Life of Secret Agent Turned Hollywood Tycoon.” Parts of the book were in the first person with Milchan telling his story in his own words.

SETTLERS STEAL MORE THAN LAND FROM PALESTINIANS

Nearly 250 left-wing activists who donated money to help a Palestinian family in East Jerusalem’s Silwan neighborhood may discover that their money has ended up with the right-wing group Elad, which seeks to evict the family.

Elad has obtained a lien on tens of thousands of shekels that the 241 activists donated for the Siyam family, on the grounds that the family owes it money. The lien requires an Israeli crowdfunding site, IsraelGives, to freeze the bank account where the money raised to help the Siyam family is deposited.

NETANYAHU USES DNA CLAIM TO DENY PALESTINIAN RIGHT TO HOMELAND

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday tweeted that the Palestinians’ connection to the Land of Israel is nothing compared to the 4,000 year connection that the Jewish people have with the land. He cited a recent article stating that Biblical Philistines had come from Europe, according to DNA uncovered in the coastal city of Ashkelon. His attempt to delegitimise the Palestinians’ right to their homeland was criticised by many as “race science”, which is often promoted by extreme right-wingers to justify ethno-nationalist policies.

Israel Warns Iran ‘Will Be Hit Hard in War’, Vows Not to Allow Tehran ‘to Obtain Nuclear Weapons’

On Monday, Tehran confirmed its stockpiling of over 300 kilograms (660 pounds) of enriched uranium, something that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described as a “significant step” toward obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has claimed that in the wake of its uranium enrichment ramp-up, Iran is veering toward a war in which it may suffer heavy losses.

Speaking to Israel Army Radio, Katz pledged that the Jewish state would not “allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons, even if it has to act alone on that”.

Years Later, Israel Returns Gaza Fisherman's Boat – Damaged, Without a Motor

Following a legal battle and three years of waiting, Israel gave Gaza fisherman Abdul-Muti al-Habil his fishing boat back. Al-Habil is one of 21 Palestinian fishermen whose boats were recently returned after Israel confiscated them, claiming they had breached the allocated fishing zone.

But the fishermen are not ready to rejoice just yet. They may have gotten their vessels back, and their livelihood, but according to the representative of the Strip's fishermen, the boats were returned without their motors and nets, and some of them are visibly damaged.

Trump sends top officials to attend Christian Zionist conference

A number of senior officials in the Trump administration will be in attendance at a major gathering this week of powerful lobby group Christians United for Israel (CUFI), reported Haaretz.

According to the paper, the conference will feature speeches by Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, as well as by Trump’s national security advisor, John Bolton, his special envoy to the Middle East, Jason Greenblatt, and his Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman.

The annual summit, held in Washington D.C., will take place today and tomorrow, attracting thousands of evangelical Christians from across the US.

Netanyahu denies intention to amend immunity law

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday denied that he had sought support for amending the immunity law for Israeli MKs, Arab48 reported.

Netanyahu said in a live Facebook video from a coffee shop near his residence that “no one is changing the law, it doesn’t need to be changed, and I won’t need it at all.”

He added: “It isn’t necessary at all because there has never been anything and there won’t be anything,” referring to corruption cases in which he has been embroiled.

The Times of Israel reported that, in the wake of the Knesset elections in April, the Likud “was conditioning membership in the coalition on support for a bill that would make it easier for him [Netanyahu] to retain immunity from prosecution.”

Academic association cancels conference in Israel after backlash

In what is being described as the first cancellation of its kind, a European association of mental health researchers has cancelled plans to hold a conference in Israel, “over fears of a backlash from the international boycott movement”.

According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the decision by the European Network for Mental Health Service Evaluation (ENMESH) “is the first time that an organisation of this kind has walked back on an already approved decision to hold a conference in Israel”.

Such a development, the paper added, indicates “that the campaign to boycott Israeli academics may be gaining traction”.

ENMESH, which has around 400 members, decided during the course of its June conference in Lisbon that a gathering scheduled for summer 2021 would take place in Jerusalem.

Two weeks later, however, the ENMESH executive committee chair wrote to the organisation’s board members notifying them of the decision not to hold the conference in Jerusalem.

Years after the blood dumping scandal, Ethiopians are still resisting racism in Israel

Many Ethiopian Jews were encouraged to migrate to Israel as the state continued to consolidate itself in the 1980s. The first group flew there between 1984 and 1985; in 1991, a second group was taken to Israel by the government. By 2011, there were around 120,000 Ethiopian Jews in the self-styled “Jewish state”. African immigrants, particularly Ethiopians Jews, have arguably helped to legitimise Israel as a multicultural and democratic country in the region.

How Evangelical Christians risk setting the Middle East on fire

Nazareth is the largest of the Palestinian communities in Israel that survived the Nakba, or catastrophe, of 1948, which forced most of the native population out of the bulk of their homeland and replaced it with a Jewish state. Today, one in five Israeli citizens are Palestinian.

The city and its immediate environs include the highest concentration of Palestinian Christians in the region. But it has long suffered from the hostility of Israeli officials, who have starved Nazareth of resources to prevent it from becoming a political, economic or cultural capital for the Palestinian minority.

The city has almost no land for growth or industrial areas to expand its income base, and Israel has tightly constrained its ability to develop a proper tourism industry. Most pilgrims pass through briefly to visit its Basilica of the Annunciation, the site where the angel Gabriel reputedly told Mary she would carry Jesus.

The U.S. Ambassador to Israel's Flimsy Cardboard Wall

The coupling between the Trump administration and the Netanyahu government has created some iconic, unforgettable pictures. But none can compete with the messianic radiance on the face of the U.S. ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, when he was breaking down a fake wall with a sledgehammer in the tunnels under Jerusalem’s Silwan neighborhood.

That picture was more powerful than a thousand conferences in Bahrain. I’ve met tourists who’ve come down with Jerusalem Syndrome; they weren’t dangerous, but no one thought to make them an ambassador.

In response to the criticism, Friedman tweeted: “Fake News: ‘Friedman uses sledgehammer to destroy wall under Palestinian homes.’ Real News: ‘Friedman uses sledgehammer to break ceremonial cardboard wall to open once-in-a-century archeological discovery.’”

Israel Disappeared Evidence of Ethnic Cleansing in Palestine to Discredit Nakba: Investigation

Israel has a secret department which makes critical documents disappear, especially documents related to what the Palestinians refer to as the Nakba of 1948, the year that marks the foundation of the state of Israel and the displacement of more than 750,000 Palestinians from their villages, towns and cities in lands that make up the border of Israel.

An investigative report by Haaretz revealed that an Israeli Defense Ministry department called the “Director of security of the Defense establishment” or MALMAB (its acronym in Hebrew) is tasked with wiping out archives on Nakba, or catastrophe in Arabic, which opposes the Israeli version of the event.

Israel disappointed with appointment of new EU foreign minister

Israel Hayom reported, Thursday, that Israel is disappointed with the expected appointment of Spanish Foreign Minister Josep Borrell as the new EU High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

According to the newspaper, Borrell will replace the current High Representative, Federica Mogherini, who was an unpopular figure in Israel because of her stubborn support for the Iran nuclear deal and for her relatively pro-Palestinian tendencies.

Following the European Parliamentary elections – wherein traditionally dominant factions lost ground – Israel was hoping for a shift in foreign policy toward the Right.

The Jews behind the protest say about themselves, “we are #JewsAgainstICE because #NeverAgainMeans never again for anyone.” This sounds good enough to me and I have no criticism of the official objective behind this humanist protest. Yet the Jewish nature of the gathering raises some crucial and necessary questions:

Are these Jewish protestors willing to describe Gaza as a concentration camp?

Will the Jewish activists protest in front of the Israeli embassy invoking the holocaust, pointing out that the Palestinians are subject to long-term genocidal policies?

Will these Jewish protestors allow gentile pro Palestinian activists, for instance, to equate Israel with Nazi Germany or maybe invoke the holocaust is a Jews-only domain?

Netanyahu Compares Iranian Uranium Enrichment to Nazi Invasion of the Rhineland

It was not, however, merely a botched exercise in futility.

Netanyahu Compares Iran's Uranium Enrichment 'Small Step' With Nazis' March Into Rhineland in 1936

Tehran announced Sunday that its uranium enrichment levels would soon surpass limits set in the 2015 nuclear deal, and said that Iran would continue to reduce its commitments to the nuclear deal every 60 days until the deal's other signatories meet their commitments.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has blasted Iran's decision to raise uranium enrichment levels beyond the 3.67 per cent limit outlined in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), saying the only possible reason for such an action is the creation of a nuclear bomb, The Jerusalem Post has reported.

Commenting on a report in US media about Iran's uranium enrichment decision on Sunday, Netanyahu said the report seemed to suggest that the move was "not terrible, because it is just a 'small step'."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. Prime Minister Netanyahu, a word, please; this idiotic analogy was absolutely DOA upon delivery.

I would like to politely remind you that when looking at the movement of the Nazis, this was to gain physical territory; not to create a bomb.

And I would like to also politely remind you, that so far, Iran has been within the levels acceptable covered by the P5 +1 agreement.

It appears, to some political analysts in Israel and abroad, you have become a geopolitically "wounded animal", with all the corruption charges placed against you, and you have had to call a snap election, to happen 17 September, because your party was unable to create a quorum.

And nothing is more dangerous than is a wounded animal, or human being.

There are a number of of political pundits professing that you desperately need something major, to plunge into the minds of the Israeli voting public like a knife, before that 60 days is finished, to "seal the deal" of your return to power.
A
And what would be more major than a "false flag", perhaps to be perpetrated against some sort of US military asset, just like Israel tried to do with the USS Liberty, where good men died, because Israel wanted the US government, and the world to believe that it was Egypt which attacked this ship, in order to get the US to declare war against Egypt?!?

What I have just stated, is an historical fact, and not some fanciful work of fiction. 52nd ANNIVERSARY OF ISRAEL'S ATTACK ON THE USS LIBERTY

If it has happened before, there is a precedent; I would like to hope that your "Bromance" with President Trump, is not that of a "Frenemy" in this instance, getting ready to make his move at the expense of both President Trump, and the USA.

Only time.... will answer that question.

The Only Strategic Rationale For America's Involvement In Syria Finally Revealed

Authored by Elias Samo via The Strategic Culture Foundation,

“Washington lacks a clear strategy in Syria “; those were the recent words of Robert Ford, the last American ambassador to Syria who served prior to and during the first few years of the Syrian uprising from 2010 to 2014. A man of Ford’s intricate knowledge of the Syrian/American political dynamic is surly knowledgeable enough to assess America’s policy towards Syria. He goes on to say, “It is hard to explain the fundamental American mission in Syria… Is it to fight Daesh? Or is it to help promote a Kurdish autonomous district in Northeastern Syria… Or is it to resist Iranian encouragement?” It is partially all three; however, oddly enough, Mr. Ford avoids the obvious top priority and strategic rationale for America’s involvement in Syria: The Protection of Israel.

The Trump administration is trying to make war with Iran inevitable - Ben Armbruster

Last night, in response to Iran shooting down an American drone earlier this week, the United States came within one whim of an erratic and unstable president from launching a military strike on Iran.

Like the recent oil tanker attacks in the Gulf of Oman, the Trump administration has framed the drone incident as if it occurred in a vacuum – implying that the Iranians are launching these (alleged) attacks without provocation, and providing an aura of legitimacy to a possible American military response.

And that’s exactly what the Trump administration’s Iran hawks – led by the national security adviser, John Bolton, and the secretary of state, Mike Pompeo — have seemingly planned all along: to cultivate conditions that make military conflict with Iran the only option.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Again, should such a war happen, it will absolutely NOT be for the benefit of We the People, but only for the benefit of our corporate oligarchs, who will profit from such a war immeasurably.

When Karl Marx made the observation that "All Wars are Economic in Origin, the guy wasn't mistaken at all; it takes large governments borrowing money from the banks, at insanely high interest rates, to keep these wars going.

Mr. President, I am sure that you are getting daily, if not hourly, calls from the politically wounded Israeli Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu, urging you, explicitly, to "get the party started" by issuing an "Executive Order" for a"kinetic Motion" attack against Iran, bypassing Congress completely.

But the major bone of contention, and your cabinet understands this, is that you will not have the support of ordinary US citizens, should you order a strike before the 2020 elections.

And Mr. President, considering what a mess into which the US government and military were led, by both American and foreign oligarchs the last several times the US government invaded and occupied a number of countries, including Iraq; Afghanistan; Libya; and DRC, you need to look at a couple potential aspects of changing the way the US does business with the Middle East.

What China does, to get what it wants, is its own version of "Let's make a deal"; certain things are promised and delivered; certain things come from the other side, which creates a "win-win" progression of that project, so all people involved, feel lifted up, and that cooperation moves to even greater depths with future projects.

I think you have to call China's "Silk and Belt Road" a major expression of this philosophy, which is going to propel China to absolute leadership and respect, if handled carefully.

Unfortunately, the US government's approach to creating "win/win" since the end of World War II, has generally been "My Way...or the Highway"

And that surprised, collective gasp in Foggy Bottom you hear, when people don't want to be killed or maimed for life by US bullets, to "neutralize" the native population; when the US installs a western-centric puppet government, to insure that their resources are only sold in US dollars, is "Why don't they love our invading their countries; murdering their kids and families, and expropriating their resources"?!?

Mr. President, I am politely requesting that you rethink your Iran strategy; I understand that you are getting what I would call "the ultimate pressure" from Netanyahu, to get this war started, but in light of the fact that the US, economically, isn't doing so well, except for the 1%, I would strongly caution you against it. I frankly think, that the situation needs more time to be resolved, and that starting to "do something" as of the end of today against Iran, could lead to unmitigated disaster for this country.

Patience, honorably conceived notions of win/win in setting up any deal, are desperately needed here; the yelling, foot-stomping, and foul-mouthed insults from both you, and the Iranian leadership, need to stop immediately.

I would also remind you that Russia has been a great partner for Syria, in terms of getting rid of US-backed, trained, and funded jihadi fighters; they are light years ahead in their weapons development.

IAEA Board to Meet Wednesday on Iran at Demand of US

US Envoy demands IAEA 'hold Iran responsible'

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has announced that they will hold a special meeting on Iran’s civilian nuclear program on Wednesday, centered around US allegations that Iran is in violation of the P5+1 nuclear deal.

The US accused Iran of being in violation once their uranium stockpile exceeded 300 kg. Iran has denied that this is a violation, and says the stockpile cap was voluntary since the US withdrew from the deal.

The IAEA agreed to the meeting at the demands of the US, even though the US is no longer party to the P5+1 deal. US officials have been trying to undermine the nuclear deal for months now, and this seems to be a continuation of that.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am working like crazy to get my hands around this, logically, but I am sorry: I cannot.

President Trump, a word, please: since the US withdrew from the P5+1 deal in May of this year, how in the world does the US have any right to criticize the planned enrichment coming up?!?

And BTW, sir, the level to which Iranian scientists are enriching their uranium stockpile is only to serve as a clear fuel power base; it is NOT going to be enriched at the level necessary to create an atomic weapon.

Please ask your "science people" and you will get a confirmation.

You are welcome, President Trump!! :-)

SAUDI-UAE COALITION SAYS IT INTERCEPTED HOUTHI DRONES

SOURCE: ALJAZEERA.COM

A Saudi-led military coalition said it has intercepted and destroyed drones launched by Yemen's Houthi group at targets in the kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

"The drones were destroyed in air space," a coalition statement said on Saturday.

The Houthis' al-Masirah satellite news channel said the rebels targeted Saudi airports in Abha and Jizan with Qasef-2K drones.

Yahia Sarie, spokesperson for the Houthi forces, said the attacks resulted in the suspension of air traffic in both airports.

The Houthis have increasingly used drones to target southern Saudi Arabia, including two recent strikes on the Abha airport, which killed one person and wounded more than 30.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The questions I would have here, are:

1. From whom are the Houthi rebels getting these drones?!?

2. Where are the rebels getting whatever training is needed, to make sure that their targeting is as true as possible, without damaging civilian centers?!?

3. What is this going to do to oil prices in the near term, and what will that do to an already teetering US economy (except for the already monied)?

4. When will the Saudi leadership get it through their heads, that the only way to begin to get a negotiated settlement done, is by diplomacy, rather than using brute force?!?

5. When will the US citizenry begin to have an open, intelligent, and civilized national dialogue regarding the US's role in being complicit to war crimes, and genocide in Yemen?

These are very difficult questions, which urgently deserve some intelligent answers, and actions that can prevent this horrible burden on Yemeni kids and their families from continuing.

But let's consider a more global discussion of US foreign policy.

I am watching Faux & Friends, and their big, banner headline is, at 7 AM, Eastern time, is "Which television shows, should be encouraged to come back"?.

Absoflippinglutely unbelievable!!!

These are very dangerous times; major cities like LA, San Francisco, and Seattle have horrible homeless, and garbage problems, which need to be met with both compassion and intelligence, coupled with with exploding crime.

I don't know whether to laugh, or weep this morning.

And our current incarnation of Emperor Nero, President Trump, Our First American Merchant of Death in Chief, simply plays his violin to the only two tunes he knows; first, that American economy is doing magnificently well (and, for the monied like President Trump, that is true; but not for most of the rest of us); and secondly, that American wars are wrapping up, and doing magnificently well.

(This is not at all correct. What we do not see here, is any revocation, or stand down, of US Military troops in the Middle East.)

Pentagon Sending 1,000 more US troops to Middle East

No wonder that most Americans have not a clue as to what is happening in the world at large, as personnel freedoms get chipped away by ever-more-invasive, 24 hour surveillance, while the US is government pouring more troops into the Middle East, and there is a concerted, willful ignorance about this genocide in Yemen that the Corporate Powers that Be, refuse to ALLOW to be seen seen, unless you know where to look for it.

Hint: you will not find it most of the Corporate Presstitute sites; You can only find it at indy media sites, like WRH.

And here, with a warning for graphic content that may cause you to upchuck, if you've already eaten today, are the real images of what is played out in Yemen, day after day, after day, in terms of US/
Saudi war crimes in Yemen:

Images: Yemeni Children getting blown apart, killed, and/or maimed for life, courtesy of US-enabled Saudi bombing runs.

Images: Yemeni children starving to death, courtesy of US/Saudi port blockade

Yemeni children, sick with, and dying, from cholera

In times when Congress actually listened to the American people (like the huge march on the Capital by peaceful, anti-Vietnam war protestors, which demonstrated to then-President Johnson, that he could not pursue the war, because the American people would not go along anymore), and that those politicians who continued to support the war, wouldn't win the next election.

But now is a madly different time and place, originally ushered into being by President Bush's lusting after a war so badly in the Middle East, so as to be able to control both the oil, and insuring that the oil would only be sold in US dollars.

And in this devolution from its initial, Constitutional charge that only Congress has the capability to created a Declaration of War, Congress no longer makes these decisions about war, peace, and national US policies; they are now simply brokered with private, large, multi-national corporations always having a first right of refusal for if and when these wars will be fought, and that these decrees emanate from both DC and Israel.

I mean, those corporations, including our military/industrial complex, are owned by people who contribute, both overtly, and covertly, to Presidential campaigns, to insure that their will, and for heaven's sake, not the will of We the People, is always supported by the US government.

We have a very Kabuki-like ritual in the Unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika every 4 years, and that this "ritual" is giving Americans the illusion that they actually control who gets "hired" for the Presidency, rather than have them understand, in this first part of the 21st century, that they really have no choice, whatsoever, because they always get stuck with voting for that proverbial "lesser of two evils".

Folks, I am very deeply concerned that Israel is pushing US leadership to a war against Iran, which may well have Russia step in on the Iranian side.

This is not a war which thinking Americans can possibly support, and may well sound the death-knell for this country in its current configuration.

Tackling Iran would provoke a war, and create a "Coalition of the Willing, Against Us

We have seen how well Russian military hardware and leadership have nearly gotten Syria rejoined, under the leadership of President Bashar Al Assad.

Why a War Against Iran Will be the “Nail in a Coffin” for U.S. Hegemony in the Middle East

Why a War Against Iran is bad for President Trump and America

stalemate/5682745">The Unsubmersible US/Iran Stalemate

Iran to Reach the Mediterranean through the Proposed Iran/Iraq/Syria railway corridor

And one of the most crazy-making facets of President Trump's policies in the Middle East, is that neither he, nor the people around him, want to understand that the more the US hits countries like Iran, China and Russia with sanctions, the more these countries are quickly growing closer to each other both military, and economically.

Was this...ultimately the outcome that President Trump wanted?!?

I am having a hard time believing this; but it is a catastrophic, pathological outcome, and state of being for this country, when its leaders listen to those attached to the US government cannot see a scenario through to its logical conclusion.

SENIOR IRAN COMMANDER THREATENS US WITH ‘SECRET WEAPON’

SOURCE: MIDDLE EAST MONITOR

Commander of the Iranian Army’s Khatam Al-Anbiya Air Defence Base, Brigadier General Alireza Sabahi Fard, has warned the United States that Iran owns a “unique secret weapon” which it would use against US forces if they make any “wrong moves”.

Addressing a forum in Iranian capital Tehran yesterday, Fard claimed that Iran’s “deterrence and unique secret weapons have stopped the filthy enemy 200 miles away [from the Iranian border] in the Strait of Hormuz,” Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported.

“The enemy knows very well that it should not test Iran’s combat readiness, as its first mistake will be its last,” Fard added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Brigadier General Fard, please, a word, sir; this kind of hyper-jingoistic palaver only encourages Israel to push the US government harder toward some kind of military confrontation with your country, and soon.

Please remember; Israel's Prime Minister is both dealing with corruption charges, and with an inability to form a coalition, which has meant another snap election coming up in the next couple of months, give or take.

Netanyahu is a geopolitically wounded animal, both at home, and abroad; and any living being, is at its most dangerous, when wounded.

He may feel that he must create some kind of diversion against any country which will not bend to his will, before this snap election happens, which will be 17 September of this year. I'm looking at my calendar, sir, and I am seeing that Premier Netanyahu has precisely 73 days, to make something like this happen.

And as you are well aware, sir, the competition/threat between Israel and Iran, is primarily economic, rather than existential.

I can assure you, Brigadier General, that no thinking American wants a war with your country; and I say that, because Russia has made it crystal-clear, through the following announcement made toward the end of last month in the blog moscowtimes.com: Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

We have seen just how well Russian weaponry, and military, have performed in terms of getting rid of Syria's US trained/funded jihadis, and it appears that President Bashar Al-Assad is just on the keening edge of getting his country back.

Zamir Kabulov, went on to state: “Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow.

When asked if Russia was ready to provide material support to Iran if the U.S. attacks it, Kabulov said that “specific actions are a question for the Russian president.”

“But it’s not just Russia, many other countries sympathize and empathize with Iran,” the Kommersant business daily quoted him as saying. “Tehran won’t be alone if the U.S., God forbid, takes wild and irresponsible actions against it.”

So Brigadier General Fard, please: don't give Israel more "ammo" ( I am speaking metaphorically, not literally, here) with which Netanyahu will attempt to push the US government toward something that would be so ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid, that I cannot even begin to go there.

Mandela’s grandson slams pro-Israel group’s efforts to shutter Palestine event

The grandson of iconic South African leader Nelson Mandela has condemned attempts by UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) to shut down London’s Palestine Expo event, at which he is slated to speak this weekend.

A statement issued today by Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela and the Royal House of Mandela read: “We wish to express our outrage and disgust at the intimidation tactics of the U.K. Lawyers for Israel. We say to them and all who seek to deny our basic human rights such as freedom of expression – hands off BDS, hands off Palestine Expo.”

The statement came after it was revealed that UKLFI – a pro-Israel legal group – has made several attempts to cancel Palestine Expo, which will take place at the Olympia London this weekend. UKLFI claimed that the organisers of the Palestine Expo – UK-based NGO Friends of Al-Aqsa – are “major promoters” of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Israel's troll army will not stop Palestinian activism

Silverstein appealed to Facebook, using their own definition of “hate speech”, to argue that his post does not fit the criteria, since he was not directly attacking Israeli settlers as much as reporting a fact the Israeli court itself agrees upon: these particular settlers had used fraudulent means to obtain the land.

This is not Silverstein’s first suspension. As he told MEE: “I have been suspended by Twitter and Facebook a number of times. I’ve also had individual posts censored without being suspended.” On one occasion, he said, an Israeli professor at a university that specialises in training engineers for the Israeli air force organised “a mass reporting of my FB account, claiming it was fake”.

Burying the Nakba: How Israel systematically hides evidence of 1948 expulsion of Arabs

Four years ago, historian Tamar Novick was jolted by a document she found in the file of Yosef Vashitz, from the Arab Department of the left-wing Mapam Party, in the Yad Yaari archive at Givat Haviva. The document, which seemed to describe events that took place during the 1948 war, began:

“Safsaf [former Palestinian village near Safed] – 52 men were caught, tied them to one another, dug a pit and shot them. 10 were still twitching. Women came, begged for mercy. Found bodies of 6 elderly men. There were 61 bodies. 3 cases of rape, one east of from Safed, girl of 14, 4 men shot and killed. From one they cut off his fingers with a knife to take the ring.”

AFTER 37 YEARS, IRAN URGES ICRC PROBE INTO DISAPPEARANCE OF ITS DIPLOMATS

SOURCE: MIDDLE EAST MONITOR

Iran’s Foreign Ministry yesterday urged the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to form a fact-finding committee to probe the issue of four diplomats kidnapped in Lebanon in 1982, Iranian news agencies reported.

“As has been announced several times over the past years, evidence shows that the kidnapped diplomats in Lebanon were delivered to the Israeli Zionist forces and then they were transferred to the occupied lands and they are now held in prison by this illegitimate regime,” a statement said.

It added: “Given the fact that Lebanon was under the US-backed Israeli occupation at that time, the Islamic Republic of Iran holds the Zionist regime and its supporters legally and politically responsible for the abduction and the terrorist action.”

Friday marked the 37th anniversary of the disappearance of diplomats identified as Seyyed Mohsen Mousavi, Ahmad Motevasselian, Kazem Akhavan and Taqi Rastegar Moqaddam.

Webmaster's Commentary:

You are seeing a marvelous PR campaign, timed brilliantly to ultimately be levelled at Israel, and what will ultimately be the most apt to happen here, will be for Israel to publicly deny the presence of these people in its prisons, and to deny the team any access to either critical records, or people who would actually know what really happened here.

Israeli government minister takes credit for 27 U.S. states passing anti-BDS laws

A leading Israeli government minister takes credit for 27 U.S. states passing laws aimed at curbing citizens' advocacy for BDS, the boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign targeting Israel. Gilad Erdan, minister for strategic affairs and information under Benjamin Netanyahu, addressed the Jerusalem Post conference in New York two weeks ago, and bragged that the Israeli government had taken its fights "to the enemy," and that includes BDS ... Erdan then took credit for American laws: "Our efforts are producing results. 27 US states now have counter-BDS legislation. Let's give a hand to all the governors and state legislators who supported this law. They deserve it." ... So it is a huge scandal that Russia interfered in the 2016 election, but Israel is messing in our politics all the time, and that's standard operating procedure.
Note: The day will come when the Jewish Nation Of Israel based on it's evil actions will be shunned by all. I am already there.

Israeli ‘solution’ for Gaza includes massive military offensive and move to Sinai

Two Israeli officials have proposed a “solution” for the Gaza Strip which includes another massive military offensive against the enclave and moving the Palestinians to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, Arabi21.com reported on Sunday. The end of the government led by Mahmoud Abbas is also suggested in a report published by the Jerusalem Institute for Public and State Affairs.

The purpose of the proposal is to make the humanitarian crisis in Gaza even worse, prompting a military confrontation. Its authors are Shimon Shapira, a former military secretary to Israel’s Prime Minister, and Shlomi Fogel, an official who has proposed numerous initiatives related to the Arab world. The phase which would follow the offensive would be based on economic and commercial development for Sinai backed by Egypt.

Israeli soldiers invade orphanage school to stop ‘Yes to Peace’ poetry

On Friday evening, Israeli soldiers, including undercover officers, invaded the Islamic Industrial School for Orphans, in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem, and stopped an educational activity held by the General Union of Palestinians Writers.

Media sources said the school was about to hold a poetry festival, dubbed as “Yes To Peace, No To War,” and shut it down.

The activity was organized by several Palestinian poets in occupied Jerusalem, and was meant to encourage the students to read and write, and to help them realize their potentials and talents.

The sources added that the soldiers, accompanied by undercover police officers, stormed the school just minutes before the festival was supposed to start, and shut it down.

Atlantic’s New Editor Was IDF Prison Guard, Beat Palestinians

These are the not-so-prescient words of Jeffrey Goldberg, named this week the new chief editor of the 159-year-old Atlantic Magazine, one of the most famous journalistic institutions in U.S. history.

The openly-Zionist Goldberg moved to Israel nearly 25 years ago and served in the Israeli Defense Forces. Since then, he has been the opening speaker for numerous Zionist functions, including the American Jewish Committee conference and Zionism 3.0.

Most garishly, he worked as a prison guard at Ktzi’ot, Israel’s largest detention camp for Palestinian political prisoners, where he boasted of helping beat Palestinian political prisoners. Ktzi’ot is one of Israel’s largest detention camps and has long been criticized for its inhumane conditions, which include frequent beatings, lack of drinking water and forced labor.

Tax-Exempt American Organizations Recruit Spies for Israel

Israel never loses an opportunity to promote what it perceives to be its interests. That any nation would do just that most of the time should surprise no one, but Israel is perhaps unique in terms of how assiduously it works at creating situations that favor it through the use of corruption of foreign governments and subversion of existing institutions. For most countries, the actions of a minority that seeks to advance the interests of a foreign nation would face strong resistance, but Israel manages to get away with what it does due to the presence of powerful and wealthy diaspora communities, most particularly in the Anglophone countries, but also in France.

Imagine a US president taking Iran’s side in conflict with Israel, and you get Maguire’s thriller ‘Exodus Betrayal’

Gil Maguire has lately published a thriller titled “The Exodus Betrayal: A President Confronts Israel” as an answer to Leon Uris’s 1958 novel “Exodus” that along with the movie version by Otto Preminger starring Paul Newman was so important in shaping American attitudes towards Israel in the 1960’s. If “Exodus” dramatized the liberation of Jews from European persecution, “The Exodus Betrayal” imagines an American president freeing this country from its slavish support for Israel. President Hailey Hannagan refuses to cater to Israel and its domestic lobby when it attacks Iran, to the point that Israel and the U.S. exchange hostilities and the president’s life is threatened. The alternative narrative goes on to envision real negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians, brought about by ultimatums to Israel. But we won’t give too much away.

Maguire has contributed articles and comments to our site; I asked him a number of questions about his story and he responded by email.

On Chosen-mess

A few days ago the BBC reported on an extraordinary French identity theft scam. For two years starting in late 2015, an individual or individuals impersonating France's defence minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, scammed an estimated €80m from wealthy French patriots.

The victims of this fraud were tricked into believing that they were being contacted by France’s Defence Minister who was requesting money to help pay ransom for journalists held hostage by Islamists in the Middle East. Since France officially does not pay ransom to terrorists, the fake minster assured the victims that payments could not be traced and asked for the funds to be wired to a bank in China.

The BBC deemed the operation “one of the most outlandish and successful rackets of recent times.”

Buying Palestine for peanuts

Over the weekend, the White House released “Peace to Prosperity,” the economic component of its so-called Deal of the Century.

It calls for $50 billion in “investments” spread over 179 projects. Half the money would be spent on Palestinian infrastructure over 10 years, with the rest spread between Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan.

It will supposedly include a $5 billion transportation corridor between the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip and another $2 billion in the Palestinian tourism sector.

The day after: What if Israel annexes the West Bank?

Calls for the annexation of the Occupied West Bank are gaining momentum in both Tel Aviv and Washington. But Israel and its American allies should be careful what they wish for. Annexing the Occupied Palestinian Territories will only reinforce the current rethink of the Palestinian strategy, as opposed to solving Israel’s self-induced problems.

Encouraged by the Donald Trump administration’s decision to move the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Israeli government officials feel that the time for annexing the entirety of the West Bank is now.

In fact, “there is no better time than now” was the exact phrase used by former Israeli Justice Minister, Ayelet Shaked, as she promoted annexation at a recent New York conference.

Mainstream Media Faults Trump for Not Following Through on Iran Attack - Not blundering into a war with Iran seen as a sign of weakness

To be sure, Thursday was meant to be the start of the US-Iran War which hawks have been trying to piece together for generations. Trump ordered the attack, but ultimately, called it off a mere 10 minutes from a strike.

What had been a subject of debate was now USA Today accusing Trump of “not following through.” As concerning as blundering into a huge war in the Middle East had been, the new talking point was Trump showing weakness, and per Kori Schake of the Atlantic, damaging “America’s credibility.”

America can, after all, usually be counted on to react hastily, and stumble into what are in retrospect unfortunate wars. That Trump managed to just barely avoid the siren’s song of war was outside the expectation of American allies, and now they don’t know what to think. NBC News was quick to accuse Trump of “indecision” and declared it would “embolden Iran.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

So let me get this straight; the US military, and the Presidency are now being taken to task, for not starting this potentially protracted war of attrition, for which our military is utterly unprepared, because it doesn't have the troop strength; the weaponry; the money; or the manufacturing?!?

And we know, at least with Samantha Vinograd, where her foreign policy views come from; she was a featured presenter at last year's AIPAC Conference:

2018: AIPAC Conference Featured speakers included CNN'S Samantha Vinograd

With Kori Shake, we know a little bit about her background Kori Shake, Hoover institution bio

I would like to politely state, that whatever credibility President Trump started with, in 2017, he absolutely and thoroughly blew to smithereens, by very publicly backing the notion, that everything Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu and his biggest US contributor, Sheldon Adelson, wanted in the Middle East, they would get from his administration.

So, what has he done so far, in that support?!? He has declared Jerusalem the capital of Israel; he has withdrawn the US from the P5+1 treaty with Iran, and thrown crippling sanctions on the Iranian government; he has also, for good measure, created a definition, by executive order, of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, as "terrorists".

And in an absolutely potentially insane win/win for Tel Aviv, he has conjured up a "Pax Americana in the Middle East", being hawked by his son-in-law, Jarod ("The Magnificent") Kushner, which is DOA, because all sovereignty of Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem ,as well as the Golan Heights, would now be recognised as official Israeli territory, period, end of discussion.

What the whole of the White House seems pathologically incapable of understanding (or, more correctly, do not want to understand), is, that for Palestinians, money is not the objective in any peace deal with Israel, although the money offered here may seem attractive; it is sovereignty over a bit of land to call their own, which drives the Palestinian movement.

And to add insult to historical injury, Israeli engineers, in creating new settler developments, have placed them in such a manner, that there is no way for a contiguous State of Palestine to exist, at this point.

So to Kori and Samantha, please, don't despair; as I type this, I am very sure that if President Trump does NOT want to start a war, your hero in Tel Aviv, Prime Minister Netanyahu, is talking to his military ops right now, and has had lengthy discussions about how to "get this party started", and goad the American government into a war in Iran, from which they cannot walk away.

The British government licensed arms deals worth over £14m ($17.8m) to Israel last year even as Israeli soldiers were accused of intentionally firing on Palestinian protesters at the Gaza border in what the UN says may be potential war crimes.

'Get Israel off our backs': Palestinians react to Kushner plan

Analysts have rebuked the economic part of the United States's Middle East peace plan for failing to address the main problem that has heavily curbed the Palestinian economy - the 52-year-old Israeli military occupation over the Palestinian territories.

The economic plan was released by the White House on Saturday and is set to be presented during a US-led workshop in Bahrain on June 25-26.

When the document was released, many noticed that the 40-page plan was void of any political context with the words "occupation", "freedom", "equality", "blockade" missing.

"The absence of those words is actually quite glaring and it's very indicative of what they see is the issue," Diana Buttu, a Haifa-based analyst and former legal adviser to Palestinian peace negotiators, told Al Jazeera.

NETANYAHU TO BOLTON: ANY PALESTINE DEAL ‘MUST INCLUDE’ ISRAELI PRESENCE IN JORDAN VALLEY

SOURCE: RT

Benjamin Netanyahu, who on Sunday toured the West Bank with John Bolton, said he will listen to US peace proposals – but added that “any future agreement” with Palestine must guarantee an Israeli presence in the Jordan Valley.
Footage posted on Sunday showed Israel’s prime minister and the US national security adviser overlooking the Israeli-occupied area from an aircraft and on the ground, with Netanyahu seen giving Bolton an excursion.

Speaking English on camera standing next to Bolton, the PM rammed the message home that Israel will not be leaving the area under any deal, saying it ensures “the minimal strategic depth and strategic height for the defense of our country.”

Netanyahu was also adamant that the Israeli presence in the Jordan Valley “guarantees stability and security for the entire region,” and that the IDF leaving the occupied Palestinian lands would result in “war and terror.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Bolton will be sure to bring Netanyahu's "marching orders" to Trump; Ivanka; and Kuchner; but what was singularly missing from this "photo op", is any mention of Iran.

One has to wonder if Netanyahu chose not to share what Israel is preparing to do to Iran with Kushner so that the US government, at the highest level, would have plausible deniability here.

But I am sensing something that the Israeli government is planning some kind of military activity against Iran, both brutal, and short, will go from planning to execution phase very shortly.

With a snap election, coming up in less than 2 months, and the Knesset having been dissolved, Netanyahu cannot wait much more, before he does something that makes him look "butch" to his constituents, and favored to win the next election.

Netanyahu may well decide, as one of his options, on a "false flag" to be used against American assets in and around the Gulf region,(IF he thinks he can get away with it) as the "excuse" for the US to invade Iran; and were that to happen, I might suggest that it might be scheduled approximately, to coincide with the United State's 4th of July Celebration for Independence day, a US National holiday, which is generally observed by most Americans.

Provoking Iran Could Start A War And Crash The Entire World Economy

Authored by Federico Pieraccini via The Strategic Culture Foundation,

Tensions in the Persian Gulf are reaching a point of no return. In recent weeks, six oil tankers have been subjected to Israeli sabotage disguised to look like Iranian attacks to induce the United States to take military action against the Islamic Republic. Some days ago Iran rightfully shot out of the sky a US Drone. In Yemen, the Houthis have finally started responding with cruise and ballistic missiles to the Saudis’ indiscriminate attacks, causing damage to the Saudi international airport of Abha, as well as blocking, through explosive drones, Saudi oil transportation from east to west through one of the largest pipelines in the world.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Just because something is the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing that the US government and Military could do, unfortunately, is utterly no guarantee that the US and its military, will not do it.

I am relieved that Trump did call off the airstrike, but the question remains, as to what both the US and Israel plan to do now, since the airstrikes were called off.

But the biggest "clout" President Trump had, when he took office, was the US's support for the P5+1 deal, from which he has withdrawn American support.

I would imagine that Iranian leadership must be thinking that President Trump might be slightly bi-polar, to make such a "switcheroo" on the the actual attack, just 10 minutes before declaring he had done it. I think, reasonably, the Iranians can find no comfortable "middle Ground" with this President, consider his withdrawing the US from the P5+1 agreement.

So what does President Trump have with which he can negotiate now ?!?

He's got an industrial-strength "Frenemy" with Israel's Netanyahu, who will use every opportunity to trap President Trump into a no-win, horrific war, which will most certainly be a war of attrition; in fact, I would rather count on Israel to attempt to pull another "USS Liberty event" (That was when Israel attempted to destroy an American Naval ship, and desperately tried to blame Egypt for it) if they think they can get away with it.

And let's not forget Trump's other BFF in the Middle East, regional neighbor and huge oil producer in Saudi Arabia, currently being run by the Butcher of Yemen, Prince Bin Salman.

How much actual military support against Iran can President Trump expect from both Bin Salman, and the Saudi military?!?

President Trump needs every good opportunity to hand, with regard to Iran; unfortunately, he has very little to offer right now, except for a (potentially deferred) invasion, which will never resolve either the political, and/or economic issues in the region.

Trump’s climbdown on Iran is a defeat to the Israel lobby

Since Donald Trump decided not to attack Iran Thursday, it has been stated again and again that the American people don’t want another war in the Middle East. NPR says so, PBS says so, the Washington Post says the Congress is “war-weary,” the Times notes the considerable support Trump has gotten from Republicans; and even Lindsey Graham has backed Trump’s decision. So do Democratic liberals and centrists and Nancy Pelosi.

Trump himself said a war with Iran is unpopular when he told his Orlando rally Thursday that great nations don’t fight “endless wars,” and he was removing troops and putting “America first.”

The reasonable question here is, Who wants a war with Iran, and why do they want it? The answer is, far-right Republicans like Adam Kinzinger, Tom Cotton, and Liz Cheney who say it’s a sign of weakness not to attack Iran. And the Israel lobby, which wants the U.S. to take on Israel’s regional rival.

Palestinian neighborhoods in Jerusalem are targeted for increase in housing demolitions

The Jerusalem Center of Socio and Economic Rights, Monday, warned of the escalation of Israeli demolitions in occupied Jerusalem, noting it bears the nature of a collective form of punishment. The director of the center Zeyad al-Hamouree warned, in a statement, that the Israeli municipality and civil administration are carrying out demolitions in Qalandia, Sur Baher, Silwan and al-Bustan neighborhoods. He explained that Israel plans to demolish wide parts of Palestinian facilities to build Israeli facilities, noting the Israeli plans to establish the so-called National Park in Arrababh neighborhood. He stressed, according to Al Ray, that the next phase in Jerusalem is so difficult, especially regarding residential buildings. He said that dozens of demolition orders are carried out without warning.

Palestine’s ‘opportunity’ or ‘entirely wrong’? Rocky reception for dawn of $50-bn Trump Mideast plan

A $50 billion plan for Palestine’s economy that hinges on peace with Israel has been revealed by Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. He calls it the “opportunity of the century” but a chorus of Palestinian groups disagrees.

Speaking to Reuters on Saturday, Kushner dangled the multibillion proposal separately from the central –political– part of US President Trump’s Israeli-Palestinian peace deal plan. He said he did so on purpose to let people “digest” the “less controversial” side of the plan before the political details finally land.

Israel analysts: Weak US attack on Iran could spark retaliation against Israel

Israeli military analysts are afraid that a weak US attack on Iran could provoke an Iranian attack on Israeli interests.

Currently, Israel is worried about ongoing US-Iranian tensions and is preparing for any possible escalation which could affect its own interests.

Israeli daily Ynet yesterday reported Israeli security officials as warning that US President Donald Trump might order a limited “surgical assault” to quell Iran’s provocations. However, these officials worry that, in return, Iran might attack Israeli interests via one of its proxies in the region.

‘Israel does not want peace’, former Mossad chief says

The former chief of Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad, Shabtai Shavit, has said that Israel does not want peace and that, if it had, it would have made peace with the Palestinian Authority (PA) long ago.

Shavit gave his remarks to Israeli daily Maariv, reiterating that if Israel wanted peace it would have discussed it in economic and infrastructure terms that serve the interests of both parties, Arab 48 reported yesterday.

However, Shavit said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not see the PA as a negotiating partner and therefore refuses to develop relations with the authority. “Do you know any other head of an Israeli government who did not talk with the Palestinians?” he asked.

Shavit also claimed that Netanyahu stopped speaking to the PA under pressure from the Israeli right-wing, who he claimed “would lynch him in the city centre” if he opened discussions today.

Hamas: Palestinians have enough power to undermine Israel

Hamas yesterday stressed that the Palestinians have enough power and resilience to undermine Israel.

Marking the 63rd Friday of the Great March of Return, Hamas spokesman Abdel-Latif Al-Qanou said “our people have enough power, resilience and willingness to undermine all [Israeli] projects.”

He added: “The Palestinians are sticking to their land and are able to fight all plans aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause.”

Israel lobby to take frosh Congressional Dems to Israel, some refuse trip

As is common practice during the summer after the election of a new House of Representatives, a group of freshman Congress members will take an all-expenses-paid trip to Israel in August. The list of Democrats currently stands at twenty-three, with two more indicating that they are trying to fit the trip into their schedules.

The trips will be sponsored by the American Israel Education Foundation (AIEF), the nonprofit arm of the powerful lobbying organization, American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

The goal of the trips is to promote American support for Israel despite Israel’s violations of human rights, international law, U.S. law, and discrimination against Christians and others. Lawmakers are currently considering legislation that will give Israel a minimum of $38 billion over the next 10 years. This amounts to $7,230 per minute, or about $23,000 per Jewish Israeli family of four.

AN INVITATION YOU CAN’T REFUSE: HOW REP. STENY HOYER MAKES SURE AIPAC’S ISRAEL JUNKET IS WELL ATTENDED

MARY JO KILROY was elected to Congress at the height of the financial crisis, in November 2008, to represent Columbus, Ohio, and the surrounding area. She landed a seat on the Financial Services Committee, where she had a chance to address the foreclosure crisis ripping through her state, as well as to push for tougher regulation of Wall Street.

As she learned to navigate Washington during her first term, one of the more unexpected pressures she faced was about a foreign trip. It wasn’t just any congressional sojourn, but rather a trip to Israel organized by House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and sponsored by the nonprofit arm of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC. “I would say that I was ‘strongly encouraged’ to take the Steny Hoyer AIPAC trip. ‘Everyone’ is going except you,” recalled Kilroy, who resisted the pressure, telling AIPAC that she didn’t want to go on a one-sided tour of the region.

200 Israeli Nuclear Weapons Targeted against Iran

The decision by the United States to exit the Iranian nuclear agreement – signed in 2015 by Teheran with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany – causes a situation of extreme danger not only in the Middle East.

To understand the implications of such decision, taken under pressure by Israel that describes the agreement as “the surrender of the West to the axis of evil led by Iran”, we must start from a precise fact: Israel has the Bomb, not Iran.

For over fifty years, Israel has been producing nuclear weapons at the Dimona plant, built with the help mainly of France and the United States. It is not subject to inspections because Israel, the only nuclear power in the Middle East, does not adhere to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which Iran signed fifty years ago.

Robert Kraft pledges $20 million to set up foundation that will fight BDS

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft has pledged $20 million to establish a foundation that will fight anti-Semitism and BDS (the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement). Kraft made the announcement while in Israel accepting The Genesis Prize, a $1 million award that Time Magazine has called “the Jewish Nobel.”

The award was presented by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as the prize is administered in partnership with Israel’s government. Like President Trump, Netanyahu has been friends with Kraft for years. “Robert Kraft fights back,” said Netanyahu, “and he’s committed to fight BDS and the slanders against Israel and to stand up for the state of Israel.”

SAUDI ARABIA BUYS $300M SPYWARE FROM ISRAEL

Saudi Arabia has bought $300 million worth of spy software from Israel as part of a large scale military deal.

Senior Arab sources told Al Khaleej Online that the deal was struck without a mediator, despite the fact that the two countries do not maintain formal diplomatic relations. The sources stressed that the Saudi intelligence services have sought to obtain advanced spyware in order to trace the Kingdom’s citizens – both in the country and abroad – amidst increasing criticism of the Saudi royal family.

Saudi Arabia therefore reached out to the Israeli market and struck a deal worth $300m with representatives of Israeli firms, the sources said, adding that both sides met and reached the deal in UK capital London.

Israel minister: ‘I intend to Judaise the Galilee’

Newly-appointed Israeli transportation minister Bezalel Smotrich has declared that one of his main objectives is to ‘Judaise the Galilee’, in light of the region’s number of Palestinian citizens.

In an interview with Israel Hayom, the notorious right-wing nationalist also vowed to boost settlement infrastructure in the occupied West Bank.

Smotrich, part of the Union of Right-Wing Parties, was given the transportation ministry by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as part of a transitional government between elections.

Gaza health sector struggling to cope with protest injuries

The health sector in the occupied Gaza Strip is still struggling to cope with injuries sustained by protesters in Great March of Return demonstrations, according to a new update from UN OCHA.

A recently published World Health Organisation (WHO) report noted that gunshot accounted for 210 of the fatalities between 30 March 2018 and 31 March 2019, and for 6,872 injuries, or 25 per cent of the total casualty caseload over the time frame analysed.

“Although any health system in the world would be overwhelmed if it had to manage a high influx of trauma casualties every week; the most pressing concern was the staggering number of gunshot wounds”, the WHO noted.

Jordan aware of citizen’s arrest in Israel for communicating with Iran

Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday that the Kingdom is aware of the arrest of a Jordanian national in Israel over his alleged communication with Iran. The ministry is following up on the issue through diplomatic channels with the aim of verifying the details, ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah added.

Israel’s Shin Bet security agency announced earlier on Thursday that the Iranian intelligence service had recruited 32-year-old Tha’er Sha’afut, a Jordanian citizen originally from Hebron, south of the West Bank.
