TWO MUST WATCH VIDEOS ABOUT THE PALESTINIAN CATASTROPHE

The year 1948 saw the establishment of the state of Israel, the culmination of generations of Jewish persecution across Europe and Russia. But that same year proved catastrophic for the Palestinians — 700,000 to 900,000 men, women and children were forced to leave their homes and never allowed to return. 1948 was the most pivotal year in the most controversial conflict in the world, but it is almost never mentioned on American television, radio, or newspaper stories. This documentary aims to change that.

How the EU mocks the victims of Israel’s crimes

On Wednesday morning, Israeli forces demolished a Palestinian-owned building in the occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Hanina.

As usual, the pretext was that the owners had failed to obtain a permit – something the occupation municipality almost never grants to Palestinians.

A day earlier, nine Palestinians were made homeless when Israeli forces demolished two houses in the Silwan neighborhood, using the same pretext.

The Palestinian online publication Quds tweeted this video of the demolition in progress:

Video: Soldiers shoot Palestinian running across a road

Witnesses told a Palestinian media outlet that the man was attempting to catch a bus when he was shot.

The security camera footage shows a figure running across a road before he is shot and falls to the ground.

The army claimed that the man, who had not yet been identified at the time of publication, was armed with a knife and was running towards soldiers when he was shot.

But he was not near any other person, and does not appear to pose an immediate threat to anyone’s life at the time that he is shot. It is not apparent from the video that he was carrying a knife or attempting any attack when he was wounded.

Hamas Calls US Comments on Unity Deal 'Blatant Interference'

Palestinian resistance movement Hamas accused the United States of "blatant interference" in Palestinian affairs Thursday after US President Donald Trump's envoy demanded they disarm and recognize Israel in any unity government.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Dear Prez. I am sure you know by now that the other nations in the middle east will recognize Israel's right to exist ... exactly one second after Israel recognizes Palestine's right to exist.

If Israel would only give to others that which it demands for itself, all this strife could have been avoided.

RT’s broadcasting provider in the West Bank, Pal Media, has been sealed off following raids by Israeli security forces on Palestinian outlets. The raids led to the closure of some broadcasting stations suspected of inciting terrorism.

Eight Palestinian media organizations, which Israel suspects of distributing and broadcasting materials inciting terrorism, were raided in a joint operation of the IDF, the Israel Security Agency security (Shin Bet) and Civil Administration operating in the West Bank on Tuesday night.

The military also closed broadcasting stations including Pal Media, one of the biggest Palestinian companies providing services to RT, as well as many other media outlets operating in the region such as TransMedia, the BBC, France 24 and the Lebanese Al Mayadeen.

How Netanyahu Pulls Trump’s Strings

It turns out that Hillary Clinton was partly correct: President Trump is a “puppet,” but his puppet master isn’t Russian President Putin but Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu

In the final presidential debate of 2016, Hillary Clinton famously called Donald Trump the “puppet” of Russian President Vladimir Putin. But what’s increasingly clear is that Trump has a more typical puppet master for a U.S. politician – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Since Sept. 18, when the two men met in New York around the United Nations General Assembly, Netanyahu has been pulling Trump’s strings on almost every foreign policy issue. Arguably, the puppet/puppeteer relationship began much earlier, but I’ve been told that Trump bridled early on at Netanyahu’s control and even showed a few signs of rebellion.

Fatah negotiator Azzam al-Ahmed and Hamas’s representative Saleh al-Arouri smiled and shook hands in a short ceremony presided over by Egypt’s chief of intelligence, Khalid Fawzi.

The move should ensure a unity government will once again administer both the West Bank and Gaza after the rift caused by militant group Hamas’s takeover of the Gaza Strip in 2007.

Israeli, Palestinian women march together for peace

Over 5,000 women from both Israel and the Palestinian territories have arrived in Jerusalem after a two-week march through Israel and the West Bank. They are calling for a peace deal.

The event was organized by the group dubbed Women Wage Peace, which also includes women that have been personally affected by the decades-long violence between Arabs and Jews in Palestine.

"We are women from the right, the left, Jews and Arabs, from the cities and the periphery and we have decided that we will stop the next war," said one of the founders, Marilyn Smadja.

Several thousand, mostly Israeli women arrived in Jerusalem late on Sunday. They were dressed in white and carried placards calling for peace.
"Israeli women want to prevent the next war if possible and try as soon as possible to reach an agreement between Israelis and Palestinians," said Smadja.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Israeli forces have launched artillery attacks on alleged Hamas positions in the Gaza Strip.

Israel claims that the attacks were launched is response to rocket fire from the Gaza Strip that landed without causing any injuries.

The Israeli military frequently targets the Gaza Strip, with civilians being the main victims of such attacks.

Israel has launched several wars on the Palestinian coastal sliver, the last of which began in early July 2014. The military aggression, which ended on August 26, 2014, killed nearly 2,200 Palestinians. Over 11,100 others were also wounded in the war.

Trump: I’ll give peace ‘a shot’ before moving US embassy to Jerusalem

President Trump said he would like to attempt to establish peace between the Israel and Palestine before moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

“I want to give that a shot before I even think about moving the embassy to Jerusalem,” Trump told former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) on the Trinity Broadcasting Network's "Huckabee" in an interview that aired on Saturday.

“If we can make peace between the Palestinians and Israel, I think it’ll lead to ultimately peace in the Middle East, which has to happen,” he continued.
Trump renewed a waiver last August to keep the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv temporarily, despite promising on the 2016 campaign trail that he would move it to Jerusalem.

The location of the embassy has always been a point of contention between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

Israelis see Jerusalem as its capital, however Palestinian want East Jerusalem to be the capital of what they hope will be a future, independent state.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I am having a double Picard face-palm, upon reading this.

So Mr. President, a word, please.

There are times, for such a bright man, when your naivete just astounds me to the point of utter and complete amazement.

What your BFF, Netanyahu, and Tel Aviv, want, is not peace with the Palestinians, but territory, and by any means necessary; and that, sir, is why since the country's founding in 1948, they have never declared the extent of their borders.

The Zionist vision for Israel, called Eratz Israel, in Hebrew, has been completely consistent, and that is a country which extends from the Nile to the Euphates. This is how it looks on a map:

Map: Eretz Israel

Notice how many bits of neighboring countries whose borders are obliterated by such an extensive expansion of Israel.

Mr. President, please: a good national leader picks fights he understands he can win; a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians is not one of them, as the goals here are completely different. Even an "Art of the Deal" person, like yourself, cannot fix this.

Palestinians have, for decades, wanted their own country, with full UN recognition, and to simply live peacefully.

Unfortunately, however, Israel's "Final Solution" for their "Palestinian problem" is comprised of the elements of serial genocide; a brisk annexation of Palestinian homes and lands in the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, displacing Palestinians who had lived on those places for generations; indefinite imprisonment of Palestinian prisoners without charge; the burning of Palestinian crops; and the developing of Jewish-only settlements which prevent a contiguous state of Palestine to exist.

Israeli plan to ‘transfer’ 300,000 Palestinians to West Bank is new normal — Zoabi

In recent days, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to build thousands more Jewish housing units in a large West Bank settlement, and annex that settlement to Israel. The White House has had nothing to say (as Martin Indyk notes), though liberal Zionists are angered by the plans. J Street said that unilateral annexation of settlements is the “extreme and dangerous” agenda of Israel’s far right.

Netanyahu: Israel Won’t Accept Palestinian Unity Deal

Speaking at a conference of the ruling Likud Party, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ruled out accepting the Palestinian unity government, should one ultimately come into place as a result of ongoing negotiations among Palestinian factions.

Netanyahu insisted that any Palestinian unity would necessarily come at the expense of Israel’s existence, and that he would not allow this. Other top Israeli officials also condemned the reconciliation talks, suggesting they amounted to the Abbas government “cozying up to a murderous terror organization.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is just another stalling tactic to prevent meaningful peace negotiations from happening, which is why Netnayahu is refusing talks...again.

And to characterise Fatah as "...A murderous, terroist organisation"?!?

Forgive me, Mr. Prime Minister; I thought for a moment that you were talking about the IDF, and its slow motion genocide against Palestinian kids!

Why Israel Supports Kurdish Independence

Palestinians and Israelis watched last week’s referendum of Iraq’s Kurds with special interest. Israeli officials and many ordinary Palestinians were delighted – for very different reasons – to see an overwhelming vote to split away from Iraq.

Given the backlash from Baghdad and anger from Iran and Turkey, which have restive Kurdish minorities, the creation of a Kurdistan in northern Iraq may not happen soon.

Palestinian support for the Kurds is not difficult to understand. Palestinians, too, were overlooked when Britain and France carved up the Middle East into states a century ago. Like the Kurds, Palestinians have found themselves trapped in different territories, oppressed by their overlords.

TRUTH, JUSTICE AND THE PALESTINIAN WAY

I wish that the US and the Western governments take care of their people in need. Instead of legislating to help Puerto Rico, the Israeli occupied US Congress is trying to be an even more obedient "house slave" for the Zionist masters by imposing more penalties on Hizballah (Lebanon) and Iran and pushing for yet another devastating war (just like they did in Somalia, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Libya). Bernard Levy, the Jewish Zionist instigator of the mayhem in Libya was in Northern Iraq building Zionist relationships with the Kurdish region and instigating for dividing Iraq like the Zionists did in Sudan. Other Zionists pour illegally acquired money in illegal Jewish settlements and the largest terrorist organization in the world - the Israeli army. Dividing the world and creating hatred and wars has been a key pillar of global Zionist machinery for decades*. It is the old colonial strategy of divide and conquer. As always many reject divisions while some fall into this trap.

End of Israeli settlements has been official UK policy for decades: Analyst

The official policy of the UK government for decades has been that Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territories are illegal, says an analyst in New York.

“That’s actually official British government policy for many decades, even this government,” said Ian Williams, a senior analyst with Foreign Policy in Focus.

“The end of the settlements and the end of the occupation have been international law and policy since 1967 almost, 1968 and onwards,” Williams said in an interview with Press TV on Wednesday.

UN takes first step to end Israel’s impunity

UN officials are finally moving to hold Israel accountable for breaking international law, though they are facing fierce resistance from Israel and its allies.

“After decades of Palestinian dispossession and Israeli military occupation and apartheid, the United Nations has taken its first concrete, practical step to secure accountability for ongoing Israeli violations of Palestinian human rights,” said Omar Barghouti, a founder of the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement. “Palestinians warmly welcome this step.”

On Wednesday, Israel’s Haaretz newspaper reported that the UN’s human rights office began sending letters to some 150 companies around the world warning them that they may be added to a database of firms doing business with Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

JERUSALEM POST HAD A PLEASANT SURPRISE FOR THE WEEKEND

To say Rebecca Vilkomerson, the head of the pro-BDS Jewish Voice for Peace organization, is a controversial figure in the Jewish world would be an understatement.

She triggered anxiety in mainstream American Jewish circles with a 2016 Washington Post opinion article titled “I’m Jewish and I want people to boycott Israel.”

As head of JVP though she is one of the greatest instigators of BDS around the world today and specifically in the US. While some people are on this list due to the positive impact they are having on Israel, the world and the Jewish people, Vilkomerson is not. Nevertheless, she is here since JVP is the catalyst for a large part of the BDS activity today against Israel. Palestinian boy, shot in stomach, interrogated on video

Amnesty International has previously stated that an intentional failure by Israeli forces to provide medical aid to a wounded person violates international prohibitions on torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment.

And while it is unclear how the video – evidently filmed in an area under complete Israeli military control – came to be published, international law prohibits an army from exposing persons in an occupied territory to “insults and public curiosity.”

No Israelis were injured during the 13 September incident that left the teen, identified as Hasan Issa Jaradat, from the nearby village of Sair, with serious injuries.

In the video the boy gives his age as 15; some news reports have said he is 13.

Palestinian orchestra uses 'music as resistance'

Birzeit, Occupied West Bank - On a humid summer evening in Birzeit, the atmosphere in the Naseeb Azeez Shaheen Auditorium turned raucous when it was announced that two musicians from Gaza would be performing.

The audience had barely settled by the time the Palestine Youth Orchestra (PYO) launched into the familiar, dramatic opening bars of the Star Wars main theme.

For its 2017 tour, the PYO had scheduled two concerts in Amman, Jordan, followed by two dates in the occupied West Bank, in Nablus and Birzeit.

"We try to make a point to come to Palestine because this is home," PYO manager Zeina Khoury told Al Jazeera. "We do it once every few years, when we feel it is possible, and when we have the funding to do it. We tried this year and it worked out, but not as we had planned originally."

Defying Israel’s eviction orders in East Jerusalem

It was supposed to have been Nizar Shamasneh’s first day back at school.

At around 5:30am, a large number of Israeli police descended on the Sheikh Jarrah area in occupied East Jerusalem. They had arrived to evict the Shamasneh family.

“They took everything: my schoolbag, our clothing, my grandfather’s identity card,” Nizar, aged 15, said. “It was heartbreaking to be thrown out in the street without being able to defend yourself.”

The family were caught somewhat off-guard by the 5 September eviction.

As the family had secured a court injunction, they thought that they could remain in their home for at least another five days.

Yet on 4 September, Israeli settlers appealed successfully against the injunction. As a result, the eviction was allowed to proceed immediately.

The family was not informed that the injunction had been overturned.

RACISM HAS BECOME AMERICA’S GREATEST EXPORT

Another Facebook posting shows Packer applauding Israeli settlers as he marched with them through the Silwanneighborhood of East Jerusalem in August. Among them is Arieh King.

Both Packer and King were celebrating the placing of a new Torah in a synagogue. The synagogue is located in a building that had been seized two years ago from a Palestinian family. Proponents of the seizure argue that Jews owned the property decades ago. Israeli law, however, prohibits Palestinians who similarly own properties in West Jerusalem and elsewhere from returning to them.

This instance of dispossessing Palestinians was by no means isolated. The day after Packer posted his videos, the Israeli authorities instructed several Palestinian families in the Silwan area to collect demolition orders on their homes.

US-born rabbi aids East Jerusalem eviction

Ben Packer, a US-born rabbi, is helping to push Palestinians out of their homes.

Last week, the Shamasneh family was evicted from a house where family members had lived for more than 50 years in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem.

Packer, who runs a hostel in Jerusalem’s Old City, swiftly welcomed the eviction. Writing on Facebook, he stated that “our guys were there to help move out the Arabs’ stuff and are now helping to guard the property.”

Packer did not respond to a request asking what he meant by the phrase “our guys” and if staff or residents in his hostel – the Jerusalem Heritage House – had assisted the eviction.

EU refuses to condemn Israeli genocide plan

A party with members in Israel’s government has just endorsed a plan to force Palestinians out of their homeland.

A prominent Holocaust scholar previously called the plan potentially genocidal and likened the values of its chief proponent to those of the Nazi SS.

Yet the European Union, which claims a moral mission to combat extremism, racism and xenophobia, is refusing to condemn it.

The National Union faction, which has members in Israel’s parliament as part of the Jewish Home party, approved the plan at a conference this week.

Israel’s expulsion of Jerusalem lawmakers overturned for now

Human rights groups said that a ruling this week by Israel’s high court confirms that the state cannot revoke the residency of Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem on the vague grounds of “breach of loyalty.”

After a 10-year legal battle, the high court decided that Israel’s interior minister did not have the authority to expel four Palestinian lawmakers from the city.

Legal advocacy group Adalah and the Association for Civil Rights in Israel said that the court’s decision to accept the lawmakers’ appeal affirms that the expulsion was done “in violation of the rule of law while gravely harming their constitutional rights.”

The groups added: “It is unfortunate that this ruling was made only after more than a decade, during which time the petitioners’ rights were brutally violated.”

Amnesty slams Israeli threats to punish it over settlement boycott call

Amnesty International is condemning Israeli threats to punish the human rights group over its call on countries to ban the import of goods made in Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian land.

“The reports that the Israeli government plans to punish Amnesty International over its settlements campaign are deeply alarming,” the group said. “While we have not been officially informed of any such action by the authorities, if true, this would be a serious setback to freedom of expression and an ominous sign for the ability of human rights nongovernmental organizations in Israel to operate freely and without arbitrary interference.”

Last June, Amnesty urged countries around the world to ban the import of all goods produced in Israeli settlements, saying this was necessary to “put an end to the multimillion dollar profits that have fueled mass human rights violations against Palestinians.”

RANDOM THOUGHTS FROM PALESTINE TO HELP YOU BE HOPEFUL IN BAD TIMES

“To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on
the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of
compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to emphasize in
this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it
destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and
places—and there are so many—where people have behaved magnificently, this
gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this
spinning top of a world in a different direction. And if we do act, in
however small a way, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future.
The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we
think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us,
is itself a marvelous victory.”

REVERSING ISRAEL’S DIVIDE AND CONQUER TACTICS

Palestinians are 12 million in number, and stuck in institutional paralysis. The nearly 25-year-old Oslo Peace Process successfully, and sadly, facilitated Israel’s strategic desire to utilize the age-old divide and conquer strategy to reduce Palestinians to disparate fragments, each with their own challenge to merely survive.

The Arab American radicals who paved way for BDS

One of the earliest boycott, divestment and sanctions, or BDS, victories in the United States came in 1973 when United Auto Workers Local 600 in Dearborn, Michigan, voted to divest its Israeli bonds after a campaign waged by the Arab Workers Caucus and the American Arab Coordinating Committee. The campaign drew comparisons with apartheid South Africa and won the support of many Black autoworkers in Michigan.

Was it just an oddity that decades before Palestinian civil society called for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel in 2005, industrial workers in the US heartland were already waging a BDS struggle? Or, far from being a rogue wave, was it an integral part of the oceanic upheavals among workers, students, immigrants and people of color during the heady maelstroms of the 1960s and ’70s?

Netanyahu declares West Bank is Israel ‘forever,’ as liberal Zionists cry out for ‘make-believe peace process’

The never-ending deathbed vigil for the two-state solution has reached a new stage. Government officials in Washington and Jerusalem are now openly abandoning the idea of partition, while U.S. establishment figures, including many liberal Zionists, are bewailing the pronouncements.

Last night Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended an event celebrating the settlements deep in the West Bank. And he assured Israelis that Jews are never leaving the colonies in what was supposed to be a Palestinian state.

Netanyahu uses fake “ancient” coin to justify settlements in West Bank

Numerous media outlets reported last week on the find of a rare 2,000-year-old half-shekel coin by an eight-year-old girl, Hallel Halevy, in the Israeli illegal settlement of Halamish in the West Bank.

The find excited many Israelis who argued it provided evidence of the historical Jewish connection to the West Bank, usually referred to as Judea and Samaria by Israelis.

Among those lauding the find, Netanyahu claimed in a Facebook post that “the "2,000-year-old silver coin" was used during the Second Temple period in Jewish history which lasted between 530 BCE and 70 CE.

“This exciting discovery is additional evidence of the deep connection between the people of Israel and its land – to Jerusalem, to our temple, and to the communities in Judea and Samaria,” Netanyahu wrote in his post.

Lebanese Daily: Hamas Turning to Tehran, Damascus

A leading Lebanese newspaper referred to the recent remarks by Hamas' new chief in the Gaza Strip Yahya Sinwar about ties with Iran, and said the Palestinian resistance group is much likely to try to resume relations with Damascus through Hezbollah. "After tensions in relations between Hamas and Tehran on the crisis in Syria, the Hamas leaders have decided to revive the ties that they had with Iran before 2011," the Arabic-language al-Akhbar wrote in an analysis on Tuesday. "Meantime, there are signs showing that Hamas has no problem with the establishment of relations with Damascus," it added. The Arab daily underlined that election of Hamas's former chief in the Gaza Strip, Ismail Haniya, as the head of the Palestinian resistance group and Sinwar, freed in a 2011 prisoner swap with Israel after more than 20 years in jail, as Hamas' new chief in the Gaza Strip following an internal election also caused certain changes in the group's strategies.

Israel treated unfairly, Netanyahu complains to visiting UN chief

The UN is treating Israel unfairly by diminishing its ties to Jerusalem and not doing enough to curb arms deliveries to Hezbollah, Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, complained to visiting UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres Monday.

Benjamin Netanyahu lashed out at the UN in the presence of Guterres, who is in the Middle East to try and facilitate the resumption of peace talks between Israel and Palestine.

Netanyahu said the United Nations treats Israel unfairly and “absurdly denies” Jewish connections to Jerusalem which Israel claims as its capital, while the UN views East Jerusalem as Palestinian territory which Israel occupied illegally under international law.

US representatives have not put forward any particular proposals on overcoming the conflict between Palestine and Israel, he said. Russian diplomatic sources expressed doubt over the competence of the US chief negotiator for Palestinian-Israeli settlement Jason Greenblatt. "When Donald Trump assumed power in the US, he declared his plans to settle the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. In fact, during the visits his representatives only asked questions and tried to clarify the situation. NY TIMES ASSERTS THAT JEWS ARE SAFER IN ISRAEL THAN IN AMERICA … CAUSE THEY CAN KILL PALESTINIANS THERE

The subject is Charlottesville, and the rise of neo-Nazis. Israel-promoter Daniel Gordis is granted an op-ed to say that Jews are safer in Israel than America, because in America, Jewish kids don’t know how to play with guns. Here’s the heart of the piece:

Israel has a military draft, and all of our kids served. Those years of service, of coming home on weekends with M-16s that we had to remind them not to leave on the sofas, inculcated in them a confidence about the world that I never had at their age.

Of course Gordis doesn’t tell us where those kids served. The occupied territories, surely, making certain that Palestinians who are resisting their lack of rights for 50 years stay fairly quiet.

PALESTINIAN CHILDREN CAUGHT IN ISRAEL’S ‘CAT AND MOUSE’ GAME

It is commonly said that the all worst nightmares move silently in the dark and wear military uniforms and escaping with light steps along the asphalt street. This night in the village not even the engine sound of the armoured vehicle distracts. The vehicle remains there, without moving, in the night, and next to it there is a street light with a faint light. The man is watching, and with each movement he seems to be counting steps, three forward, one to the side, and again three paces backwards, without taking his eyes off the houses, with his rifle under his arm, and the barrel kept at eye level, ready to interrupt the silence. It is totally silent, and the silence seems almost begging to be interrupted by a roar, a scream, or a lament, while from behind a curtain a child, one of the numerous children, records the scene with his cell phone.

A week ago, Oxford Albion Beatnik Book Shop that hosted my concert received a threatening letter from Stephen Silverman (CAA). Silverman hinted that something may happen unless the club surrendered to his demand and cancelled the concert. Tonight we saw the first violent attack against Jazz audience. SILENCE IS AS DEADLY AS GUNS

While the judaization of Palestine continues untroubled, the illegal occupation of Palestine is maintained, and the Haram al-Sharif and al-Aqsa mosque are deprived of all rights because of the Netanyahu regime, and politicians of the extreme right, from Lieberman to Bennett, already talk about the “transfer” of Palestinian citizens, by mentally sending more and more Israeli citizens to the illegally occupied West Bank, the Federal Republic of Germany is silent on all Jewish crimes.

A new directive has been instituted on the few Palestinians allowed to exit Gaza through Erez Crossing, Israeli Gisha rights group has learned in an email detailing new restrictions for passage through Israel-run Erez Crossing.

McMaster solidifies power at NSC — and supports Iran deal, sees Israel as occupier

Updated. Last night President Trump issued a statement affirming his support for National Security adviser H.R. McMaster in the face of a storm of criticism from rightwing outlets. The statement is a sign that Trump and his new chief of staff are taking the realist side of the debate inside his administration over foreign policy.

So while Trump claims to be doing everything he can to trash the Iran deal, the good news is that his foreign policy team is for it. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson clearly advocated for the deal at a press briefing earlier this week, while suggesting that he could differ with the president on how effective it’s been.

EU removes video featuring Israeli genocide advocate

The European Union embassy in Tel Aviv has removed from its Facebook page an official EU promotional video featuring Avishai Ivri, an Israeli “comedian” who incites genocidal levels of violence against Palestinians.

This came a day after The Electronic Intifada published an exposé of Ivri’s long record of extreme anti-Palestinian racism.

In posts on Twitter, Ivri has called on Israel to kill “1,000 Arabs” for every Israeli who dies in conflict-related violence and has urged that Israel “wipe out Gaza.”

IT disruption panics Gaza’s new Internet entrepreneurs

No Internet?

Hussain Mahdi, 24, looked shocked. “Our lives would be paralyzed,” the young T-shirt designer said.

He has cause for concern. On 11 July, the Palestine Telecommunications Company, Paltel, announced that its main generator had broken down because of high loads and long power cuts. Tens of thousands of landline customers and some 8,000 Internet subscribers lost service because, as the company explained on its Facebook page, it was not able to import parts for its backup generators or bring in new, better ones.

“Fuck it, wipe out Gaza,” says spokesman for new EU campaign

The European Union has hired an Israeli who advocates genocidal violence against Palestinians as the face of a new promotional campaign.

Avishai Ivri appears in a video the EU embassy in Tel Aviv posted on its Facebook page last month.

“The European Union. You think it’s anti-Israel, right?” Ivri begins. “Let me surprise you.”

Ivri then rattles off trade and tourism statistics meant to convince Israeli viewers of just how much the European Union benefits Israel. He also boasts that the EU is a customer for Israel’s weapons industry, particularly drones.

The EU “are the best neighbors we have,” Ivri concludes.
