Saudi oil chief: No conspiracy behind oil prices

Saudi Arabia's oil chief on Sunday dismissed allegations that his kingdom conspired to bring down oil prices in order to harm other countries and told a summit of Arab energy leaders that he was confident the market would stabilize.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"There is no conspiracy. We just decided to sell twice as much of our oil for half as much money. We do things like that. Honest!"

How the CIA Launched the «Financial Pearl Harbor» Attacks on Russia and Venezuela

The net result of the CIA-inspired fracking operations, which the Saudis were warned not to pursue by petroleum engineers working for some foreign-based firms like Schlumberger, is that there will be an oil supply glut for the next 5 years. The glut will be followed by a reduction in Saudi oil production unless new oil fields are brought on line. There is now a major push by U.S. and Canadian oil companies to bring online the Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to the United States to offset the expected sharp rise in oil prices in four to five years. But with Canada suffering financially from the drop in oil revenues, the Keystone XL project is also on financially shaky ground.

The Engineered Fall of the Russian Ruble

Saudi Arabia, the most influential member of OPEC, and the United States are working together to destroy the Russian economy and destabilize the country.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem with waging an economic war is how easily it can become a shooting war.

FBI charges Saudi-born naval engineer over plans to sink aircraft carrier

A Naval engineer is facing federal charges for allegedly giving an undercover FBI agent secret documents on a new aircraft carrier being built in Norfolk, Va.

Saudi-born Mostafa Ahmed Awwad, 35, of Yorktown, Va., was arrested Friday on an FBI affidavit claiming he planned to use a dead-drop location along a secluded hiking trail to hand off secret information about the Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, set to be delivered to the Navy in 2016, Fox News reported Saturday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If this obvious entrapment doesn't wake the Saudis up and make them realize they are on the US Government's list of nations to eventually invade, nothing will!

Saudi Arabia Declares Oil War on US Fracking, hits Railroads, Tank-Car Makers, Canada, Russia; Sinks Venezuela

When OPEC announced on Thanksgiving Day that it would maintain oil production at 30 million barrels per day, chaos broke out in the oil market, and the price of oil around the globe spiraled into a terrific plunge. The unity of OPEC, if there ever was such a thing, was in tatters with Saudi oil minister smiling victoriously, and with a steaming Venezuelan oil minister thinking of the turmoil his country is facing [OPEC Refuses to Cut Production, Oil Plunges off the Chart].

During the closed-door meetings in Vienna, Saudi oil minister Ali al-Naimi told OPEC members that OPEC had to combat the US fracking boom. If OPEC cut output to raise the price of oil, it would lose market share, he argued. The way to win would be to allow overproduction to depress prices to the point where they would destroy the profitability of North American producers. And they’d have to cut production, rather than OPEC.

"Panic Selling" Saudi Stocks Crash Into Bear Market Following OPEC Decision

It's not just Shale oil stocks in the US that are hurting. Following the OPEC decision to not cut production and squeeze US producers, Saudi Arabia's major stock market index has tumbled into a bear market, giving up all the year's gains. As one analyst noted, "investors are afraid if oil stays where it is, it will negatively impact the government revenues, thus creating potential headwinds on government spending." Dubai stocks - our long-time favorite bubble index - has also been hammered, down over 7% intraday at its worst...

US Prepares to Sell Saudi Arabia Warships to Help Take Down Iran

Saudi Arabian officials say they are preparing to move forward with an upgrade to the country’s navy that could include a multibillion-dollar contract for Bath Iron Works, the Reuters news service reported Wednesday.

BIW’s DDG-51 destroyer is one of at least two ship designs being considered for the long-discussed Saudi Naval Expansion Program II, or SNEP, which has an estimated value of roughly $20 billion, Reuters said.

Patrick Dewar, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin, told the news service that Saudi officials were planning to release new information over the next several months about how the country plans to proceed with SNEP.

Dewar told Reuters that the Saudis are considering whether to buy up to a dozen of Lockheed’s steel monohull Littoral Combat Ship or the larger DDG-51 destroyer built by BIW, a subsidiary of General Dynamics Corp.

9/11 terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui claims Saudi involvement

The 46-year old French national is claiming that Saudi Embassy officials were involved in a plot to shoot down Air Force One to assassinate Bill Clinton and/or Hillary Clinton during a trip to the United Kingdom.

Webmaster's Commentary:

"And it only took 286 waterboardings to get him to admit it, too!" -- Official White Horse Souse

This is getting obvious,. No matter what oil nation the United States plans to invade next, they always start by claiming they were part of 9-11. First Afghanistan, then Iraq, now it is Saudi Arabia, and next month it will be Venezuela!

Saudi Oil Pipeline Catches Fire But It Was Brought Under Control

Prices briefly jumped after rumors circulated on Twitter that a pipeline exploded in Saudi Arabia, raising fears that the country’s crude production and exports could be curtailed.

An oil pipeline belonging to Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s oil company, caught fire earlier Wednesday during construction repairs but the fire was limited and has been brought under control, a source at the company said. The source didn't give further details but said the company is expected to issue a statement soon.

Crude oil at four-year low after Saudi Arabia price cut

Crude oil prices have hit a four-year low after Saudi Arabia unexpectedly cut the price of oil sold to the US.

Brent crude fell to near $82 a barrel in midday trading, as worries about global growth also spooked investors.

Earlier, the European Commission reduced its growth forecasts for the eurozone.

Investors are concerned about the US oil industry, in the face of slowing growth and lower prices.

The US Economy Runs Into A Problem If Oil Hits $75

US shale oil is now the marginal swing barrel in the new world oil order, and as Goldman Sachs warns (despite Larry Kudlow apparently knowing better), a decline in WTI to $75/bbl would start to significantly slow US shale growth (and thus employment, capex, and the entire US economy).

Webmaster's Commentary:

Obama was intent on harming Russia's oil exports and made a deal with Saudi Arabia to increase production to crush oil prices. But, as has become the hallmark of decision-making by the White House, nobody thought this all the way through as to what harm it might bring to the US. And Saudi Arabia is laughing that US attempts at oil independence are being crushed under the anti-Russian agenda and US dependence on Saudi Arabia will increase!

9/11 Was NATO’s License to Expand Globally

The 9/11 attacks on the United States undoubtedly benefited a number of actors, including the American military-intelligence complex, Israel, and most definitely, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The Cold War-era, the area of responsibility for which had long been confined to Europe and North America, used the provisions of Article 5 of the NATO Charter – which states that an attack on one member is an attack on all – to extend NATO’s power deep into Eurasia, particularly in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

After engaging in out-of-area invasions and occupations of Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Libya, and Syria and, again in Iraq, against the «Islamic State,» the «North Atlantic» military bloc has transformed itself from a Cold War defensive alliance into a global offensive axis of nations that acts with or without United Nations authorization.

Saudi death sentence against Sheikh Nimr draws wide condemnation

Human rights organizations and activists called on Saudi Arabia to overturn the death sentence handed down to prominent Saudi cleric and pro-democracy activist Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, accusing the Saudi regime of curbing freedom of speech and opinion.

Nimr, who has repeatedly criticized the lack of basic freedoms in Saudi Arabia and has called for greater rights for Saudi minorities, including the Shia, was convicted on Wednesday of multiple charges, including “delivering anti-government speeches” and “breaking allegiance with the ruler,” and was sentenced to death by The Specialized Criminal Court, Saudi Arabia's “terrorism tribunal.”

Did The Saudis Just Get A Tap On The Shoulder?

The US-Saudi "secret" plan that was supposed to crush Putin quickly turned sour when as we reported several days ago, one after another America's own shale plays, which recently entered a very sharp bear market, started appearing on various death watches (case in point today's MHR Second Lien refi which repriced from L+500 to L+750 in minutes).

As a result, one wonders: did Obama realize that Russian "costs" which as everyone knows by now include a Eurpoean triple-dip recession, could also very soon include an insolvent US shale industry, and thus may be just a little too much, and, one further wonders, if he is the one who just tapped Saudi Arabia on the shoulder?

Saudi Arabia sentences reformist Shiite cleric to ‘crucifixion’

Raising fears of renewed sectarian tensions in the region, Saudi Arabia’s top court has sentenced a charismatic opposition leader to death for speaking out against the kingdom’s ruling family.

Nimr Baqer al-Nimr, a reformist cleric, has repeatedly called for an end to corruption and discrimination against minorities. He has a wide following, particularly among young people in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, home to most of the country’s minority Shiites, who are considered heretics by the Sunni-ruled government.

After being imprisoned for nearly two years, al-Nimr appeared in Riyadh’s Specialized Criminal Court Wednesday with his lawyer and two brothers. Charged with terrorism offences and “breaking allegiance to the king,” the judge upheld the country’s harshest sentence — “crucifixion” — where the decapitated body is publicly displayed. His brothers were reportedly detained after the sentencing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

WOW!! The Saudi government and its royalty have almost caught up with ISIS in terms of Medieval barbarism, and that is just my point.

And it is THIS government with which the US is BFF in the Middle East?!? IF we are judged by the company we keep, as a nation, we are in deep trouble here.

Because Saudi Arabia and the US government are inextricably entwined geopolitically, I would almost be willing to bet that you will get absolutely no corporate coverage of the execution itself, or the aftermath, the parading of the headless corpse, in US corporate non-news stations.

And a memo to the House of Saud and its judiciary: making a martyr out of this guy may well up the ante for religious unrest and demonstrations in your country, rather than smothering it.

In the 21st century, the parading of his corpse may well cause riots, intense enough that your military personnel will not be able to put them down.

US national shot dead in Saudi capital Riyadh -UPDATED

A Saudi Arabian gunman killed a U.S. national and wounded another in the capital Riyadh on Tuesday, officials said, heightening Western concerns over security in the world's top oil exporter as regional unrest rises.

Police later shot and wounded an assailant and then arrested him, said a statement from the police carried by state media. No motive for the attack was given, but a source familiar with the situation said the gunman may have been taking revenge after being sacked from his job.

US security contractor shot dead in Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh

A US national was shot dead and another wounded in Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh on Tuesday, police said, in what appeared to be the first killing of a westerner in years in a gun attack in the kingdom.

Police later shot and wounded an assailant and then arrested him, said the brief statement, carried by SPA, the state media agency said.

“The attack resulted in the killing of one person and the wounding of another and it turned out they were of American citizenship,” it said.

A US official said both victims were working with a private security contractor, Vinnell Arabia. The company was working with the Saudi national guard, the official said.

Saudis Dump Oil To Increase Leverage Over U.S. Middle East Policies

During the last years U.S. president Obama talked a lot about energy independence:

In his fifth State of the Union address on Tuesday, President Barack Obama celebrated the efforts his administration has made to cut greenhouse gas emissions, while also praising recent increases in domestic oil and gas production.

Obama said early in his address that there is now more "oil produced at home than we buy from the rest of the world," for the first time in two decades.

Obama did not say that the increase in U.S. fossil fuel production was only possible because international oil and gas prices had increased above the magic $100 per barrel equivalent. Below that price shale gas and oil extraction as well as oil production from tar sands are only marginally profitable or not profitable at all.

China, Russia Sign CNY150 Billion Local-Currency Swap As Plunging Oil Prices Sting Putin

One place where Russia has been hit the hardest as a result of tumbling oil prices, is the crashing currency, with the Ruble hitting new record lows against the USD on a daily basis. In fact, as Bloomberg reports, Russia has been forced to spend a whopping $6 billion in just the past 10 days to slow down the tumble of the RUB.

Russia’s central bank intervened in the past 10 days to stabilize the ruble, central bank Governor Elvira Nabiullina told lawmakers in Moscow today. The action, which comes as President Vladimir Putin orders a withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine’s border, has so far failed to halt the ruble’s decline amid a domestic foreign currency shortage stemming from sanctions. The cost of swapping rubles into dollars widened to a record.

A Maid’s Execution

On Wednesday, the Saudi Arabian government beheaded Rizana Nafeek, a Sri Lankan woman who had worked as a maid in the kingdom, holding her responsible for the death of the four-month-old baby of her employer.

Why Oil Is Plunging: The Other Part Of The "Secret Deal" Between The US And Saudi Arabia

Two weeks ago, we revealed one part of the "Secret Deal" between the US and Saudi Arabia: namely what the US 'brought to the table' as part of its grand alliance strategy in the middle east, which proudly revealed Saudi Arabia to be "aligned" with the US against ISIS, when in reality John Kerry was merely doing Saudi Arabia's will when the WSJ reported that "the process gave the Saudis leverage to extract a fresh U.S. commitment to beef up training for rebels fighting Mr. Assad, whose demise the Saudis still see as a top priority."

Saudi Arabia Unleashing 'Systematic and Ruthless' Repression Against Dissenters: Report

U.S. ally Saudi Arabia is methodically harassing, detaining, and abusing human rights campaigners, going to "extreme lengths to hound critics into silent submission," according to a report released Thursday by Amnesty International.

"The Saudi Arabian authorities have consolidated their iron grip on power through a systematic and ruthless campaign of persecution against peaceful activists in a bid to suppress any criticism of the state in the aftermath of the 2011 Arab uprisings," said Said Boumedouha, Deputy Director of Amnesty International’s Middle East and North Africa Program.

Webmaster's Commentary:

While the US decries beheadings by ISIS, Saudi Arabia beheads and amputates limbs with impunity, not to mention their treatment of human rights campaigners.

And yet, Saudi Arabia is a "partner" for the US government and the West, just as is Bahrain, which has the same human rights problems?!?

I love the smell of US government hypocrisy in the morning!!!

Last year Saudi Arabia, Canada's ally against ISIS, beheaded more than 79 people

The barbarity of those beheadings combined with the online availability of ISIS's videos has made this war an easy sell for the U.S. and Canadian governments.

There is another group in the Middle East that uses beheadings as a preferred method of execution. That is the government of Saudi Arabia.

Canada is entering this latest war in the Middle East as part of a U.S.-led coalition of which Saudi Arabia is a member.

Bahraini fighter jets join Syria strikes

Bahraini fighter jets have joined US-led air strikes in Syria to prevent extremist fighters from expanding throughout the region.

The US operation included the Royal Bahrain Air Force (RBAF) and military forces from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE and Jordan, which was part of an international action plan to stamp out the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organisation, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I try to stay as logically focused as humanly possible, when I am posting.

But there is one thing I want to share with our readers, because I am pretty sure that some of you will have a resonance with this.

Monday, when we got the news here on Oahu that President Obama had begun a a series of air strikes against Syria, I felt as though he had knocked on our door; I had graciously let him in; and then he proceeded to knock this 65 year old gal to the floor with a sucker punch to my gut.

That is how completely betrayed I feel by this government right now.

And for God's sake, look at the company the US government is keeping in this Administration's "Coalition of the (allegedly) Willing, 2014"!!!

Saudi Arabia, which carries out beheadings frequently, and Bahrain are two of the worst human rights abusers on this planet, and probably on a couple of others as well. (do we call that Species rights abuse on other planets?!?)

So THESE are our allies, chosen in order to take out Bashar Al Assad, who has done absolutely NOTHING to the United States?!?

President Obama, there is nothing that can take the moral stench out of this decision you have made, nothing whatsoever.

The country I used to believe I lived in exists no more; that is one hell of a hard reality to get my head around, but it is the absolute, stone cold truth.

A Look Inside The Secret Deal With Saudi Arabia That Unleashed The Syrian Bombing

And, not surprising, it is once again Assad whose fate was the bargaining chip to get the Saudis on the US' side, because in order to launch the incursion into Syrian sovereign territory "took months of behind-the-scenes work by the U.S. and Arab leaders, who agreed on the need to cooperate against Islamic State, but not how or when. The process gave the Saudis leverage to extract a fresh U.S. commitment to beef up training for rebels fighting Mr. Assad, whose demise the Saudis still see as a top priority."

In other words, John Kerry came, saw and promised everything he could, up to and including the missing piece of the puzzle - Syria itself on a silver platter - in order to prevent another diplomatic humiliation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

For me, the wild card in this equation is, how far will Russia allow the regime in Damascus to fall before they feel they feel compelled to act?!?

And what, precisely, is Putin prepared to do?

Wish I had a "Vulcan mind-meld" capability - at a distance - on this.

The way Obama has gone in with bomb strikes in Iraq and Syria, it does not appear that there is any way he can, or will, de-escalate any time soon.
