US Bombers Fly Over South China Sea Ahead Of Asean Summit

B-52 exercise over disputed waters risks Beijing’s ire as Pentagon chief James Mattis is expected to meet China’s defence minister Wei Fenghe in Singapore

Two US B-52 bombers have flown over the disputed South China Sea, in a move that could inflame tensions ahead of a key regional defence summit in Singapore where the US and Chinese defence ministers are slated to meet.

The two US Air Force bombers departed from the Anderson Air Force Base in Guam as part of a “routine training mission in the vicinity of the South China Sea”>>>

Trump to pull US out of postal alliance in move targeting China

The Trump administration is rejecting a ‘flawed system’ that allows developing countries like China to globally ship goods cheaply

The Trump administration said on Wednesday that it intends to pull the US out of a 144-year-old international postal alliance, citing a “flawed system” that allows developing countries like China to ship goods around the world more cheaply.

The announcement is the latest sign that tensions between Washington and Beijing have spilled beyond trade.

The Universal Postal Union (UPU) – an organisation first established in 1874 and now run by the UN – sets the rules for international mail exchange, such as determining fees that postal services within any given country can charge for delivering shipments from foreign carriers. It currently represents 192 member countries, including the US.

Washington, Riyadh, Ankara Striking Deal

Arab Daily: Washington, Riyadh, Ankara Striking Deal on Khashoggi's Case

A leading Arab newspaper said events in the past few days indicate that a deal is in the offing among the US, Saudi Arabia and Turkey to whitewash accusations against Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman after his order to murder prominent journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
"Some signs of a political deal among Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the US in Khassogi's assassination case have appeared in the past three days," the Arabic-language al-Ahd wrote on Wednesday.

It questioned the reason for a delay in declaring the results of investigations into Khashoggi's case, and added, "Possibly they want to implement a plot like Lockerby case and say that three people abducted Khashoggi and then put them on trial to exonerate bin Salman."

This is while the Turkish sources and the US media have reported that bin Salman has directly issued the order to murder Khashoggi and Washington is in possession of a recorded voice of the Saudi crown prince>>>

‘I don’t give a damn’: Secret service agent blocks reporter’s Kushner-Saudi questions

US secret service agents are expected to take a bullet for those they’ve sworn to protect. But in a bizarre exchange a bodyguard for White House senior advisor Jared Kushner swooped in to block a reporter’s questions.
The US president’s son-in-law was spared potentially tough questioning on Saudi Arabia when an unidentified special agent pushed in front of Errol Barnett, telling the CBS journalist there is a “time and a place” for such questions.

The incident occurred as Kushner was disembarking a plane in New York. According to Barnett he was attempting to ask Kushner about the crown prince of Saudi Arabia and the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi. Kushner is believed to have been instrumental in greasing the wheels of a US-Saudi Arabia multimillion dollar arms deal.

Mika Brzezinski Urges 25th Amendment: Trump Is ‘Not Fit to Lead,’ He Is ‘Not Well’

President Donald Trump hit back at his alleged former paramour Stormy Daniels in what has become his signature juvenile manner: making fun of the appearance of the adult film actress on Twitter. His calling her “horse face” launched an ugly body-shaming retort from Ms. Daniels, as the American political dialogue continued to a death spiral of descent.

This was the context of Morning Joe’s Mika Brzezinski, who has consistently been a morning show source for calling out Trump’s erratic behavior and diagnosing the Commander in Chief’s lack of mental wellness.

For Mika “this is one of the many, many, many ways this president has shown us that he is not fit, possibly not even well” adding how she didn’t understand why people in this administration “taking matters into their own hands and trying to sort of stick it out because they can keep things together.” She then hit Trump on the foreign policy front, claiming “he is cratering our reputation” and “making us an international joke.”

POLICE FOUND EVIDENCE IN SAUDI CONSULATE THAT KHASHOGGI WAS KILLED THERE - TURKISH OFFICIAL TO AP

A Turkish official told AP that police have found evidence inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul which confirms that journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed there.
The "high level official" spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity, but said that police had found "certain evidence"that Khashoggi had died in the building. The official did not provide any more details about the evidence uncovered by police.

Reports in US media on Monday evening suggested that Riyadh might be preparing to admit that Saudi-born Khashoggi was killed as part of an unauthorized interrogation gone wrong.

Khashoggi was last seen entering the consulate on October 2. Turkey has accused Saudi Arabia of murdering the journalist, but Riyadh has denied involvement.

After a phone call with Saudi Arabia’s King Salman on Monday, US President Donald Trump suggested perhaps “rogue killers” had been responsible for the journalist’s disappearance.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump, a word here, please.

IF the overwhelming evidence indicates that Khashoggi was, in fact, assassinated at the Saudi consulate in Turkey, I would politely suggest that no element of criticism of the Saudi regime, is not countered, nor responded to, except by Prince Bin Salman's orders.

OK, so he ordered a hit on a guy he didn't like that he didn't know would go public, and caused the the global consternation it has caused.

But President Trump, you have to know what you are dealing with here, sir, just as you have had to realize about your other BFF in the Middle East: these are diabolically ruthless men, who control with an iron hand, and who see the elimination of "the enemy" as their only goal, by any brutal means necessary, with utter impunity, and zero consequences.

So, you've dispatched your "Bag Man", Mike Pompeo, to Saudi Arabia, to clean up the stench your Buddy, Prince Bin Salman, made, and "sanitize it" with a cover story, which no one will believe, about this torturous assassination.

Mr. President, We the People realize that this pitiful attempt by this administration to put lipstick on this pig of an act, is only about making sure the weapons companies can continue enjoying their fat bottom lines, by insuring that the weapons flow, unrestricted, to Saudi Arabia, with which they are using to murder Yemeni children, women, and the medically fragile elderly.

Congratulations, Mr. President, on your administration's being "all in" with Bin Salman's torturing critics to death, and killing, starving, and sickening the Yemeni people.

I am very concerned, Mr. President, that what you see Bin Salman and Netanyahu doing in their countries, and beyond, is something you might love to have the power to do here, with complete impunity, and absolutely zero consequences.

THAT, Sir, does worry me... and greatly.

And we have a companion piece, also from blacklistednews.com:

Pompeo's 12 hour flight to Saudi Arabia gave him only a 15 minute meeting with King Salman

It is obvious that Pompeo got his marching orders as to how to spin this, and was thrown out of the royal palaces, like some flunky with whom the Saudi king did not want to spend time, other than for the photoshoot, showing them smiling together.

Democrats are increasingly whispering about the possibility of impeaching President Trump if they regain control of the House of Representatives in November, even as top Republicans openly suggest the move would backfire politically.

He Has No Clothes

Time to Face Up to Emperor Bin Salman – He Has No Clothes
On Sunday, Saudi stocks endured their biggest fall in nearly four years over journalist Jamal Khashoggi who was murdered last week inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

Western governments have threatened the Saudis with consequences and “severe punishment” if Riyadh is found to have been involved in the Washington Post contributor's disappearance. And Riyadh has been quick to reject the threats, saying it would retaliate against possible economic sanctions. But the damage has already been done:
***
What the Khashoggi affair cruelly demonstrates is that the Saudi regime’s unaccountable, repressive political control of the public sphere has in fact been expanded, reinforced and emboldened. Bin Salman feels he can do whatever he likes, with impunity, and that the Western world, misled by Trump, will tamely acquiesce, primarily out of economic and strategic self-interest. After all, this is what has been happening for decades.

But this policy is a mistake and boycotting investment conferences is nowhere near enough. Selling weaponry used to kill Yemeni children, and ignoring the jailing of Saudi activists is morally insupportable. So, too, is the gruesome murder of a man whose only offence was to speak his mind.>>>

On US Naval Blockades and a Hard Days War. Economic Warfare against Russia is not Working

The blockade’s objective was to force the USSR to withdraw nuclear weapons from Cuba that it had placed there in order to guarantee Cuba’s security from American attack. Fortunately the crisis ended a few days later with the missiles being withdrawn in exchange for the US withdrawing similar missiles from bases in Turkey that threatened the USSR, and a US pledge not to invade Cuba. The blockade proved to be not only a dangerous provocation but also a humiliating fiasco for the US. A year later President Kenned was assassinated.

But today the US leadership is threatening another blockade, this time of Russia, as well as threatening pre-emptive strikes to neutralise Russian cruise missiles, not located in Cuba, but in Russia itself. And the same fleet that conducted the Cuban blockade, that took part in the invasion of Grenada in 1983, the 2nd Fleet, has once again been reactivated with all the ships necessary to attempt just such a blockade.

A major factor in the collapse of the US stock market is reported to be the uncertainty prompted by the growing US trade war with China.

IT’S WASHINGTON VS BEIJING AFTER MIKE PENCE CHINA SPEECH

Vice-president Mike Pence’s speech at the Hudson Institute on October 4 was an era-defining statement in the history of diplomacy between the United States and China. It declared a fundamental US policy shift and set a new course for the relationship between the world’s two largest economies and chief political adversaries, something not seen since US president Richard Nixon’s trip to China in 1972.

Historians might wish to compare Pence’s 45-minute policy statement with such historic episodes as George Kennan’s 8,000-word telegram in 1946, Winston Churchill’s “iron curtain” speech of 1946, and Harry Truman’s “Truman Doctrine” address to Congress in 1947, all of which underpinned the West’s cold war policy of containment toward the communist bloc led by the then-Soviet Union.

The new US diplomatic strategy toward China is the accumulation of two years of tense exchanges and failed talks, resulting in a tit-for-tat tariff war between the administrations of strongman leaders Donald Trump and Xi Jinping.

How The Sixteenth Century Explorers Lay The First Stone For Globalism

CHAPTER 1
The discovery of the roundtrip and the beginning of globalisation

Globalisation is thought to have it's beginings in the 16th century when the Spanish silver dollar went transcontinental. Its acceptance as common currency arose when Spanish navigators in the Philippines established a circular shipping route, known as the tornaviaje, between Asia and the Americas. More than 250 years of uninterrupted trade ensued between Asia and the rest of the world. And the ships playing this route were known as China Ships

Magellan-Elcano circumnavigation
In 1519 a Spanish fleet of five vessels, under the command of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, set sail from Seville in search of a route across the Pacific Ocean to East Asia. Magellan was killed in a battle during the voyage, leaving Spanish navigator Juan Sebastian Elcano and 18 surviving crew to become the first to circumnavigate the globe in a single expedition. Their expedition finally returned home to Spain in 1522

LESSONS LEARNED BY CHINA IN THE OPIUM WARS RING TRUE IN US TRADE ROW

***
By the early 18th century, the British had so taken to drinking tea that some in the British government called it a “necessity of life”. The tea came from the southern Chinese city of Canton, designated by the Qing government as the only place where trading with foreigners was allowed. By 1725, the British East India 250,000 pounds of tea per year. This ballooned to 24 million pounds per year by 1805.

Unfortunately for the British, the Chinese bought few British products, and worse, they wanted to be paid only in silver. Thus, between 1710 and 1760, Britain paid 26 million pounds of the precious metal for its tea.

Britain soon ran out of silver and ideas of how to pay for its tea until it stumbled on the one item the Chinese liked and became addicted to – opium. In 1773, the East India Company secured a monopoly on the production and sale of opium grown in India

Melania Trump reveals there WAS a message behind her 'I really don't care' jacket - despite White House denials - and it was meant for 'the liberal media'

First lady Melania Trump has revealed that there actually was a message behind the infamous jacket with the words 'I really don't care, do you?' splashed across the back, which she wore on June 21, amid the unaccompanied migrant children crisis.

At the time, the White House vehemently denied the wardrobe choice was anything more than a fashion statement, as the wife of President Donald Trump unexpectedly showed up for a visit to the Upbring New Hope Children's Shelter in McAllen, Texas.

Outside In: The Trump administration’s plan to remake the Middle East

The only promise that is new about the promised peace plan is the way it will be forced on the Palestinians: no one has promised that the plan itself will be new. With Saudi Arabia and Egypt—the outside—brought onside with the promise of continued military aid despite their crimes against humanity and violations of international law and the Palestinians weakened by being silenced, economically crushed and stripped of any friends to help them, the United States and Israel are now free to attempt to impose a peace plan on the Palestinians.

Did Israeli spy firm help Trump win presidency?

THE ELECTRONIC INTIFADA: A report in The New York Times this week reveals details of a multimillion dollar scheme by a now defunct Israeli spy firm to use social media manipulation and fake online identities in a sophisticated effort to sway the 2016 election in favor of Donald Trump.

Trump eventually secured his party’s nomination and went on to win the US presidency but it is unclear if Psy-Group, a firm staffed by former Israeli intelligence agents, gave him a boost.

The company’s former CEO Royi Burstien previously commanded an Israeli psychological warfare unit.

Psy-Group has also reportedly been involved in the Israeli government’s covert campaign against the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement for Palestinian rights

Trump Threatens Iran’s Oil Clients

President Donald Trump said the United States “will take care” of countries that continue to buy Iranian oil after the second round of U.S. sanctions kick in on November 4 this year. Trump made the comment speaking to reporters in Washington, days after India said it will buy 9 million barrels of crude from Iran and Reuters reported a VLCC carrying Iranian crude had offloaded it in bonded storage at the Chinese port of Dalian.

The Economic Times reports that Indian Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had told media that India had its own energy needs to satisfy, which reaffirms the message sent by New Delhi to Washington earlier this year: although the two may be allies, they sometimes have different priorities. India is facing popular unrest because of rising inflation, and one of its causes is more expensive oil.

The country is Iran’s second-biggest crude oil buyer >>>

Russia has offered the United States to make written commitments about non-interference in each other's affairs as Moscow is ready to give such guarantees "at any time," but Washington has shown no such desire, Georgy Borisenko, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department of North America, told Sputnik.

"Now we are proposing to exchange letters of more or less the same content, for example, between the foreign ministers of Russia and the United States. Unfortunately, Washington is stubbornly ignoring it, they are just categorically rejecting it," Georgy Borisenko noted.

Attempt to isolate China from world trade system ‘will not work’, says IMF’s top Asia official

Changyong Rhee identifies three risks to region’s growth pace: continued escalation of trade tensions, an acceleration of monetary tightening by the US Federal Reserve, and a stronger-than-expected rise in oil prices

Attempts by the US to isolate China from much of the international trading system by concluding restrictive trade deals with its major trading partners would harm the global economy, the IMF’s top official in Asia has warned.

Changyong Rhee, head of its Asia and Pacific department, said on Friday that China is already integrated into the world economy, “and is basically too big,” for any such a plan to work.

“The US and China have to talk” to resolve their disagreements, he stressed in an exclusive interview with South China Morning Post during the IMF’s annual meetings in Bali, Indonesia, adding the current trade dispute could last “for a while”.

Chinese state media lashes out at ‘tired’ Mike Pence after fiery speech

‘US could sell its aircraft carriers to China to cut deficit’ – Beijing rebukes ‘tired’ Mike Pence
Official news agency Xinhua runs combative opinion pieces in response to US vice-president’s accusations

Chinese state media rolled out a slew of combative opinion pieces in response to US Vice-President Mike Pence’s accusations against Beijing last week, as rhetoric intensifies in the widening strategic conflict between the powers.

A signed commentary from People’s Daily, the Communist Party’s mouthpiece, attacked Pence for remarks he made last Thursday at the Hudson Institute, a conservative US think tank, targeting China for its foreign policy, trade practices and claims about meddling in US elections.

The nearly 5,400-word screed by “Zhong Xuanli”, a pseudonym used by the Central Propaganda Department’s Theory Bureau, sought to refute the vice-president’s address point by point, including a remarkable proposal for Beijing to buy four US Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carriers to help close China’s trade surplus with the US.

International Team of Researchers Concerned Over US Efforts to Create Biological Weapons

The time is right to ask the US to stop dodging awkward questions and provide some clear answers

In 1969, US President Richard Nixon ended all offensive aspects of the US bio-weapons program — the first category of weapons prohibited by an international treaty. In 1975, the US ratified both the 1925 Geneva Protocol and the 1972 Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) — the international treaties outlawing biological warfare. But many reports from different sources offer reason to believe that the US military is developing a new generation of weapons in violation of the international treaties Washington is a party to.

An opinion paper published on Oct. 4 in the journal Science, written by an international group of researchers led by Richard Guy Reeves from the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Germany, claims the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is potentially developing insects as a means of delivering a “new class of biological weapon.”

The official goal of Insect Allies, an ongoing research program, is to disperse infectious, genetically modified viruses that have been engineered to edit crop chromosomes directly in the field. But there is a reason to believe that the program is actually an effort to develop biological agents and a means of delivery intended for hostile purposes. If true, this would constitute a breach of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC).

Donald Trump Endorses Prison Reform; Jeff Sessions ‘Overruled’

President Donald Trump endorsed prison reform on Thursday, warning Attorney General Jeff Sessions to get on board with the idea.
Trump said he is interested in reducing sentences for people like Alice Marie Johnson, a nonviolent drug offender whose life sentence the president commuted in June.

“There has to be a reform because it’s very unfair right now,” Trump said. “It’s very unfair to African Americans. It’s unfair to everybody. And it’s also very costly,” the president commented on Thursday morning in a phone interview with Fox & Friends.

Trump plans to meet with hip-hop superstar Kanye West at the White House on Thursday to discuss prison reform and other issues important to the black community.

Trump questioned some of the life sentences for nonviolent drug offenders but said he would continue to be tough on crime in other ways. He noted that West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, was also pushing for prison reform.

STARVING UKRAINE ARMY LOOTING AND PILLAGING DONBASS LOCALS

INTRIGUE SURROUNDS THE WAR, WITH STARVING UKRAINE ARMY LOOTING AND PILLAGING DONBASS LOCALS

A starving and demoralized Ukrainian military, in the part of Donbass under their control, are pillaging grocery stores and taking food from the local population. This is alarming for a number of reasons beyond the obvious fact of crimes being committed against a civilian population. In this Ukrainian army, we are expected to believe that their stocks and force projection has been growing.

It is through this mechanism that Poroshenko seems to want to push his drive for war, in order to secure the election, by turning out the support of the Gacilian and Ukropian populace. IMF chief defends Beijing from currency manipulation claims

IMF chief Lagarde dismisses idea Beijing is manipulating the yuan as Washington turns up the heat
Christine Lagarde says the yuan’s decline of 10.5 per cent against the greenback since February ‘has a lot to do with the strength of the dollar’

International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde has dismissed the idea that China is manipulating its currency to gain a competitive advantage, giving verbal support to Beijing as Washington reiterates its concerns about the yuan’s exchange rate.

Lagarde’s remarks on Thursday came just a day after US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin warned China not to engage in a competitive devaluation of its currency.

Mnuchin was quoted by the Financial Times on Wednesday as saying that the Treasury monitored currency issues “very carefully” and that the Chinese yuan, also known as renminbi, had fallen “significantly” during the year. He added that he wanted to discuss the currency with Beijing as part of trade talks.

ABC Scolds Melania on #MeToo, Kavanaugh: ‘Some Might Say’ ‘You Need to Stand With Women’

“We also asked the First Lady about some of the major events that have shaped and rocked her husband's White House and the country, including the #MeToo movement,” Llamas gushed, playing clips of Trump saying he supported Kavanaugh. He then asked, “What is your take about the #MeToo movement, though? Do you believe in them? Do you support the #MeToo movement?”

Trump responded that everyone raising accusations and those accused needed to be heard and supported. Llamas tried to trap Trump with another gotcha question, asking, “Do you think men in the news that have been accused of sexual assault, sexual harrassment have been treated unfairly?”

Trump appealed to the need for “hard evidence,” before Llamas tried to shame her, again, scolding, “Some women might hear that and say how could you say that Mrs. Trump? You need to stand with women! What would you say?”

Trump asked Abe to allow one of his top donors to open casino in Japan: report

U.S. President Donald Trump has asked Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to "strongly consider" granting a license to build a casino in Japan for an American company run by a top Trump donor, a U.S. media outlet reported Wednesday.

Trump raised Sheldon Adelson's casino bid with his company, Las Vegas Sands, in a meeting with Abe in February 2017 at the president's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, ProPublica said, citing two people briefed on the meeting.

Trump's push surprised Abe's entourage and the prime minister "didn't really respond, and said thank you for the information," one of the sources said, according to ProPublica, known for producing investigative journalism, in an article titled, "Trump's Patron-in-Chief."

The president raising a top donor's personal business interests directly with a foreign leader would violate long-standing norms, the article said.

Goodbye, Nikki Haley

There are plenty of juicy theories about the real reason Nikki Haley suddenly stepped down from her perch as UN Ambassador, but my favorite is the one that has her authoring the anonymous New York Times op ed by an alleged administration insider claiming that “the adults in the room” were busy undermining the President’s worst impulses, like getting us out of unnecessary foreign entanglements.

Leaving aside her nasty pre-nomination digs at Trump, the two clashed repeatedly in public during her tenure. When Haley announced in April that new sanctions would be imposed on Russia, the White House told reporters that she was subject to a “momentary confusion.” “With all due respect,” she snapped, “I don’t get confused.” Yet she was apparently setting her own policy when it came to Ukraine, NATO, and North Korea, all areas where she diverged from the President’s “America First” agenda.

FLASHBACK - Trump says it will be hard to unify country without a ‘major event’

Hours before his first State of the Union, President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he wants to unite the country amid "tremendous divisiveness" and hopes he can do so without a traumatic event affecting Americans.

Trump spoke about creating a more united country during a lunch with a number of television news anchors. Trump said the United States has long been divided, including during the impeachment of former president Bill Clinton. Trump also said that Americans usually come together during times of suffering.

"I would love to be able to bring back our country into a great form of unity," Trump said. "Without a major event where people pull together, that's hard to do. But I would like to do it without that major event because usually that major event is not a good thing."

The president also said the country's divisions date back to both Republican and Democratic administrations, citing the scandals that led to Clinton's impeachment by the House in 1998.
