BBC Producer Admits Douma “Chemical Attack” Was “Staged;” Confirms Independent Media Reporting

By Brandon Turbeville

It’s almost a year after the bombing of al-Sha’aryat Airbase in Syria by the United States. Almost a year since the alleged “chemical weapons attack” on Douma, Syria which was blamed on the Syrian government and justified the subsequent American bombing. Now, after the resultant deaths of innocent people via America’s Tomahawk missile attack and the ridicule and blacklisting of alt media outlets who questioned and disproved the claims of the U.S. government regarding Douma, a BBC producer has admitted that the attack was staged...

After the Trade War, a Real War With China?

Our sudden hostility to China reflects a consensus – at least within the Washington Beltway – that we need to wrestle China to the ground and pin it there. But what are the chances we can do that? What are the consequences of attempting it? Where are we now headed with China?

Realism is out of fashion in Washington even if it’s alive and well elsewhere in America. It should give us pause that our new enemy of choice is a very different, larger, and more dynamic country than any we have unbefriended before. China had a couple of bad centuries. But forty years ago, the Chinese Communist Party and government began to evolve what turned out to be a successful model of economic development that blended state capitalism with free enterprise. This unleashed the entrepreneurial talents of the Chinese people. The results have been staggering.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, this is a very long read, but absolutely worth it, in terms of US/China/Taiwan relations, and how they might be bettered, or get completely nasty, if there is a war between the US and China over the future of Taiwan.

Congress closer to forcing Trump’s hand on Saudi support?!?

Supporters of a measure to cut off U.S. support to Saudi Arabia in Yemen are projecting victory in the coming weeks when the Senate takes up a House-passed resolution.

The Trump administration is expected to ramp up its lobbying against the Yemen war powers resolution as the vote nears in hopes of flipping some of the Republicans who back the measure.

But opponents have few tools at their disposal to stop the resolution, which only needs a simple majority for a procedural vote and subsequent final passage.

Backers say they now have added momentum as the administration’s missteps in handling the Jamal Khashoggi killing have only increased ire at Saudi Arabia.

“I think we’re going to win,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said.

He declined to say whether he expects any Republicans who supported the measure in December to switch their vote.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would almost be willing to bet that Al Qaeda, or alleged "associated forces" will be accused of starting some dustup in Yemen, in order to give President Trump the ability to say that he "has a legitimate reason for US forces staying in Yemen", neutralizing this legislation.

DESPITE 'WAR CRIMES' CONCERNS IN YEMEN, RAYTHEON NABS $1.6 BILLION ARMS DEAL WITH UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) just inked billions in deals to secure new weapons from top Pentagon contractor Raytheon a week after an Amnesty International investigation further implicated the Gulf nation in war crimes for transferring Western weapons to unaccountable militia groups, thereby deepening the humanitarian crisis and fueling carnage in war-ravaged Yemen.

"Emirati forces receive billions of dollars' worth of arms from Western states and others, only to siphon them off to militias in Yemen that answer to no-one and are known to be committing war crimes."

Webmaster's Commentary:

It would be great to live in a country which has never, and will never, stoop to creating war crimes, the way the US and Saudi Arabia have colluded to do in Yemen, where an active, ongoing genocide continues, about which we Americans get to hear very little.

SEVEN KILLED IN KASHMIR GUN BATTLE DAYS AFTER DEADLY ATTACK

Srinagar, India-administered Kashmir - At least seven people, including two armed rebels and four Indian army soldiers, have been killed in an ongoing gun battle in India-administered Kashmir.

The gun battle on Monday in Pinglan village of Pulwama district comes days after 42 Indian security personnel were killed in a suicide blast - the worst such attack in 30 years of Kashmir conflict, which has raised fears of confrontation with archenemy Pakistan.

A senior Indian army official told Al Jazeera that the operation against the rebels was launched early on Monday following intelligence inputs about their presence in a house in Pinglan village.

"In the encounter, two militants and four army soldiers have been killed. The operation is still in progress," the official said, adding that the identity of the rebels was being ascertained.

"Among the slain soldiers is a top army officer," he added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK, to Pakistani President Arif Alvi, and Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, please cool your collective jets here. You both know what the Kashmiri people need and want, to prevent this from happening, hopefully ever: the long-promised, but never delivered referendum, to give the Kashmiri people the right to decide if they wish to stay with India; join Pakistan; or become an independent country.

Both of you leaders are Presidents of countries which are members of the UN, where one of the most cherished principals enshrined in their Declaration of Human Rights, is the right to Peaceful Self-determination. The Universal Right of Self-Determination

President Trump, please, you have to work the phones with Indian President Kovind (we have a security agreement with India, as you know) and Chinese President Xi Jinping, please work the phones with Pakistani President Alvi (China has been a very strong builder of defense systems with Pakistan.)

Please, Presidents Trump and Xi: the last thing in the world the world needs right now, is a (literal) explosion of tensions between these two nuclear-powered neighbors.

DARPA THINKS AI COULD HELP TROOPS TELEPATHICALLY CONTROL MACHINES

The Pentagon’s research office is exploring how artificial intelligence can improve technologies that link troops’ brains and bodies to military systems.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency recently began recruiting teams to research how AI tools could augment and enhance “next-generation neurotechnology.” Through the program, officials ultimately aim to build AI into neural interfaces, a technology that lets people control, feel and interact with remote machines as though they were a part of their own body.

Impossible as they may sound, neural interfaces have already been used to allow people to control prosthetic limbs, translate thoughts into text, and telepathically fly drones. Through the Intelligent Neural Interfaces program, DARPA will explore how AIcan make these systems more durable, efficient and effective.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder about the not-so-great applications of this technology, and how the moral boundaries should be set, to avoid misuse.

India's PM Modi warns Pakistan of strong response to Kashmir attack

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned Pakistan on Friday to expect a strong response to a suicide attack that killed 44 paramilitary policemen in Kashmir, ratcheting up tension between the nuclear-armed neighbours.

The car bomb attack on a security convoy on Thursday was the worst in decades of insurgency in the disputed region. India said it had “incontrovertible evidence” of Pakistani involvement, a statement quickly rejected by Islamabad.

“We will give a befitting reply, our neighbour will not be allowed to de-stabilise us,” Modi said in a speech, after meeting security advisers to discuss options.

The attack comes months before national elections in India.

The Pakistan-based Islamist militant group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) claimed responsibility soon after a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden car into a bus carrying police personnel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Other reports from the region, seem to indicate that New Dehli is seriously thinking about starting an economic war against Pakistan, particularly if such attacks continue (and trust me, they will continue, unless and until, the Kashmiri people finally get their long-deserved referendum, to permanently determine its status).

Here is the following article giving credence to this possibility:

I would like to hope that some light of reason will dawn on the leadership of both countries, but it is hard to see where this will come from right now. A war between both nuclear-armed countries could create an absolutely horrific - and irreversible - future for both of them.

US Stealth Jets Conduct Bombing Drill In Philippine And East China Sea

F-35B Lightning II stealth fighter jets with the fixed-wing detachment of Medium Marine Tiltrotor Squadron 262, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), conducted a bombing exercise from the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Wasp in the Philippine and East China Seas, Jan. 26 through Feb. 6, according to a press release by the US Indo-Pacific Command.
F35B releases smart bombs above the Pacific Ocean, Feb. 3, 2019.
During the exercise, fifth-generation combat aircraft were armed with Sidewinder missiles and precision-guided munitions.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, a note of caution here; yes, the US military has some very sophisticated fighting aircraft; however, the Chinese are spending far less than does the US government, and getting a better "bang" for their weaponry bucks. Consider the following article from CNN, dated 30 January, 2019:

Chinese New Weapons: Fact, or Fiction?!?

IF you take a look at the individual pieces of weaponry, and see how frequently the analyst says "plausible", in terms of what capabilities the Chinese have right now, they have really upped their game, in the weaponry delivery department.

It seems, however, our military designers are stuck on those technologies which were successful in bringing the conclusion of World War II, rather than the futuristic weapons we would need to be successful, in fighting and winning World War III.

This has got to start to change, and immediately.

As a Christian pacifist activist, I would love to see war become so morally stigmatized, that it never happens again; however, as an economic realist, and understanding just how much money is made in war, at all levels, I have to conclude that there will another global dust-up, most probably generated by the Unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika.

Israel has starring role in H.R.648, “Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2019”

As Congress tackles urgent issues of reopening government and setting the budget for the country, it takes the time to prioritize a foreign country: H.R.648 contains assurances that Israel will receive $3.8 billion for arms, and funding for refugee resettlement; the bill also includes threats to de-fund the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and any future state of Palestine–if US demands (dictated by the Israel lobby) are not met.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Interesting that the Israel Lobby wants the IAEA shut down.

As Russia Collusion Narrative Collapses, The 'Resistance' Reaches New Depths Of Delusion

t’s been the opinion here at CFN that Mr. McCabe and a long list of DOJ / FBI / and Intel employees would eventually be summoned to grand juries on charges ranging from lying to their Internal Affairs colleagues all the way to sedition. Those worms now seem to be turning. Both house and senate committees investigating the Russia narrative declared that they turned up no evidence for it.

And late this week, William Barr was confirmed as a new Attorney General, meaning the extreme case of bureaucratic constipation in that department may be resolving in a shitstorm of counter-revelations and prosecutions in what amounted to an attempted coup d’etat. A lot of the evidence for that is already public and overwhelming.

But what will happen in the meantime as their enablers are dragged into courts of law to answer for their roguery?

Russians Told To "Prepare For Worst Outcome" As US Prepares New Sanctions

A bipartisan team of US senators is preparing to hit Russia with additional sanctions over its 2016 US election interference and military operations in Syria and Ukraine.

Sens. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) are spearheading the measure, called the Defending American Security from Kremlin Aggression Act, which includes a wide range of financial penalties targeting Russia's energy complex, financial industry and "political figures, oligarchs, and family members and other persons that facilitate illicit and corrupt activities, directly or indirectly, on behalf of Vladimir Putin," reported The Independent.

Threats of the sanctions rocked Russian stock and government bond markets at the end of the week, and the country's debt insurance costs jumped alongside FX volatility.

Moscow has responded to the prospect of new sanctions with anger.

A former minister told Russians to prepare for the worst outcome; the Kremlin accused the US of “racketeering.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Demonization of a country, compounded with severe financial sanctions against it, are nearly always the prelude to an American-created war, and that is precisely what I am seeing, getting played out, here, with Russia.

Veni, Vidi, Tweeti - An Obituary For The Republic

What dreamers they were! They imagined a kind of global power that would leave even Rome at its Augustan height in the shade. They imagined a world made for one, a planet that could be swallowed by a single great power. No, not just great, but beyond anything ever seen before — one that would build (as its National Security Strategy put it in 2002) a military “beyond challenge.” Let’s be clear on that: no future power, or even bloc of powers, would ever be allowed to challenge it again.

And, in retrospect, can you completely blame them? I mean, it seemed so obvious then that we — the United States of America — were the best and the last. We had, after all, outclassed and outlasted every imperial power since the beginning of time. Even that other menacing superpower of the Cold War era, the Soviet Union, the “Evil Empire” that refused to stand down for almost half a century, had gone up in a puff of smoke.

Humanitarian Intervention" And The New World Order, Part 2

However, successful collective security is mainly on direct dependence on three conditions:

The states must be roughly equal, or at least there must be no preponderant power.

All states must be willing to share the cost and responsibility of defending one another.

There must be an international body that has the moral authority and military capacity to take effective action.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And this has much to do with Russia, India, and China moving out of the dollar, and into other currencies, like the Euro.

When the world's oil is sold in any other currencies than the US dollar, that state, or states, doing this, suddenly become the "evil other,", and to be "reckoned with", by the US, as happened with Libya's Muammar Gaddafi, who had to be quickly "neutralized" by the West, to preventing him from introducing his "gold-backed dinar", which would have left the US dollar in the dust.

When Karl Marx made the observation that all wars are economic in nature, he pegged it absolutely , and completely correctly.

Analyzing Russia's Nuclear Submarine Threat

Introduction:

Nuclear submarines are the leading strike force of a fleet, capable of covertly controlling the expanses of the world’s oceans and quickly deploying in the required directions. They deliver unexpected and powerful strikes from the depths of the ocean on both sea and land targets.

The main striking force of the Russian Navy is nuclear submarines armed with ballistic and cruise missiles with nuclear warheads. They are constantly in various parts of the world’s oceans, ready for immediate use of their strategic weapons. Submarines, armed with cruise missiles, are aimed mainly at combating the enemy’s large surface ships and strike on the enemy’s coastal infrastructure. Torpedo nuclear submarines are used to disrupt the enemy’s underwater and surface communications and in the defense system against the underwater threat, as well as to escort surface ships and missile submarines.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So I would like to know, where is the US military (and particularly our Navy) in assuring that capabilities necessary to counter these ships and weapons exist, and are moved very quickly into workable production?!?

Somehow, it appears that the US military has gotten more than a bit behind both Russia and China, in signing off on the capabilities of existing destroyers and subs, And that.... needs to get fixed, and quickly.

GOOGLE MAPS REVEALS PATRIOT MISSILE LAUNCH SITES IN TAIWAN

The Taiwanese government is doing damage control after the latest Google Maps upgrade revealed their most sensitive missile sites, down to the launcher types and models of the missiles, for all to see – including archenemy China.

Defense Ministry officials in Taipei are asking Google to blur the missile site locations, which were exposed in painstaking 3D detail in the latest upgrade of Google’s satellite map app, for the sake of national security – while urging the public to remain calm.

German Ex-Air Force General: 'US Betrayed European Security'

A former head of NATO’s Military Committee has slammed the US move against the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) as “extremely dangerous” for Europe. This comes after Washington had suspended its obligations under the agreement that ended the arms race between the East and West back in the 1980s.

Former head of the NATO Military Committee and retired Air Force general Harald Kujat has sharply criticised the US for terminating the INF Treaty calling the move “a betrayal of the security of the European allies" in an interview with the Bavarian broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk.

According to the retired commander, the withdrawal from the treaty that ended the nuclear arms race back in 1987 means that the US is saying goodbye to responsibilities to its European allies. This move could be extremely dangerous for Europe, Kujat stated.

The World’s Most Dangerous Nuclear Weapon Just Rolled Off the Assembly Line

Last month, the National Nuclear Security Administration (formerly the Atomic Energy Commission) announced that the first of a new generation of strategic nuclear weapons had rolled off the assembly line at its Pantex nuclear weapons plant in the panhandle of Texas. That warhead, the W76-2, is designed to be fitted to a submarine-launched Trident missile, a weapon with a range of more than 7,500 miles. By September, an undisclosed number of warheads will be delivered to the Navy for deployment.

Senate Resolution Aims to Stop Saudi Path to Nuclear Arms

A new bipartisan resolution making its way through the Senate is aimed at blocking Saudi Arabia from having any path toward the creation of nuclear weapons, placing severe restrictions on Saudi activities if they accept a US civilian nuclear cooperation deal.

If the Saudis accept US nuclear cooperation, the resolution would forbid them from any uranium enrichment, and from any attempted reprocessing of plutonium produced in their reactors. These are the two primary ways nuclear arms could be produced.

The Trump Administration is reportedly in the process of making exactly such a cooperation deal with Saudi Arabia, with Energy Secretary Rick Perry in quiet talks on sharing US civilian nuclear technology with them.

Congressional anger at the Saudis for the murder of Jamal Khashoggi has fueled a lot of resolutions on US-Saudi relations, trying to place additional limits on Saudi access to US technology, to prevent abuses in the future.

NATO Has No Plans to Deploy New Ground-Based Systems With Nukes in EU - Official

Russia issued a mirror-like response to the US decision to suspend the INF Treaty in order to officially exit it in 6 months later. However, Moscow assured that it would not deploy weapons violating the historic accord even if developed them until such US-made weapons appear in Europe and other regions.

The alliance has no plans to deploy new ground-based systems with nuclear weapons in Europe, even following the termination of the INF Treaty, NATO's Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller said in an interview with the German news outlet Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

Stoltenberg Holds Press Conference Before NATO Defence Ministers Meeting

On Tuesday, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the bloc was getting prepared for a potential cessation of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, but it didn't want a new arms race and did not plan to deploy new ground-based missiles in Europe.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is speaking at a press conference in Brussels during the first day of the meeting between the defence ministers of the NATO member states.

The event comes after earlier in February, the United States said it was suspending its obligations under the INF Treaty starting from 2 February and would begin the withdrawal process, which would be completed within six months unless Moscow remedied its alleged violations of the bilateral arms control deal.

Russian President Vladimir Putin later announced that Moscow was also suspending its obligations under the treaty in response to the US move.

Hands off ‘our hemisphere’ or Venezuela pays the price: US Senator warns Russia

This is pathetic. Without Venezuela and their gold the district of criminals is finished!

The US staked a claim on half the world, as Senate Armed Services Committee chair Jim Inhofe said Washington might have to intervene in Venezuela if Russia dares set up a military base not just there, but “in our hemisphere.”
“I think that it could happen,” Inhofe (R-Oklahoma) told a group of reporters on Tuesday. “You’ve got a guy down there that is killing everybody. You could have him put together a base that Russia would have on our hemisphere. And if those things happen, it may be to the point where we’ll have to intervene with troops and respond.”

UK Sending Aircraft Carrier To China In "Show Of Force"

Perhaps out of humiliation over the ongoing spectacular tragicomedy that is Brexit, and in desperate need of a distraction from her domestic political troubles, Theresa May has taken a page out of the the US neocon playbook, and has decided to send Britain’s new aircraft carrier to China’s backyard in what The Times has dubbed "a show of strength" - just in case Beijing is unclear how to respond to this hilarious development - because apparently the UK believes it is a US stunt-double when it comes to sending Beijing messages about its territorial ambitions in the South China Sea.

Webmaster's Commentary:

OK, that's it: in making this move, Prime Minister May has proven, without a doubt, that she has gone completely round the bend, gone "mental", and has to be removed for the safety and continued lives of her brother and sister Brits.

And the worst thing about this move, is that Chinese Military and other officials are laughing their collective heads off at it.

‘ENEMY CAN’T ASK US TO LEAVE, THEY MUST LEAVE’: IRAN CALLS FOR US TO WITHDRAW FROM THE REGION

Tehran has brushed off US calls to pull its forces out of Middle East countries, saying that it is the ‘enemy’ Washington who should go back home. It comes as Iran marks 40 years since the Islamic Revolution.
As the US’ own forces start to withdraw from Syria, Washington is increasingly worried that Tehran is getting too entrenched in the war-torn country. The US has repeatedly lambasted Iran for its presence in Syria, where Tehran maintains ‘military advisers.’

On Monday, the deputy head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards fired back at Washington: “The enemy cannot ask us to leave the region. They must leave the region.”

“We will help any Muslim anywhere in the world,” Brigadier General Hossein Salami added.

It’s not the first time that Iran has rejected US demands to curb its ‘influence.’ Last week, a senior aide to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Ali Akbar Velayati, warned: “Whether they want to or not, the Americans must leave Syria.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, a word please; last time I checked Russia and Iran had been invited by the government of Syria to assist it in getting rid of the western funded, trained, and supported jihadists: the US government was not invited to this particular party, in case the memo never reached you.

In fact, this US occupation of Syria falls under the heading of " a major crime against sovereign state."

And sir, this stated objective that the US has to stay in Syria to watch Iran?!? I don't know if any one has mentioned this to you, but even though you have pulled the US out of the P5+1, Iran, as declared through the IAEA's certifications, Iran is still keeping its part of the deal.

Has Iran started a war in the last two hundred years?!? The short answer is no, Mr. President; they have not. So why in the world is the US "watching them" from Syria?!?

Surely, there has to be another reason. Perhaps creating a false flag in Syria, blame it on the Iranians, and off we would be going, into an Israel-favored war?!? I would like to hope - and pray - that this is not the design objective of the US staying in Syria.

And Mr. President, there is another issue which the American people would like to have explained; why is it, sir, that Iran has signed the NNPT, but Israel has not, meaning, of course, that they are not entitled to any money or weaponry, according to the Mann Act and the Symington Amendment?!?

Isn't the US violating its own law, every time Israel gets more money, or weaponry from the US?!? Can you explain this to us, please?!?

And your excuse for staying in Syria being that we must "protect Israel" with our Syrian occupation?!? President Trump, can you enlighten us on the latest and greatest package passed by Congress for Israeli aid?!?

U.S., Israel Sign Historic 10-year, $38-billion Military Aid Deal

Sir, forgive me, but at this massive cost to the US government (while homeless Vets still sleep rough in our streets, and our infrastructure is crumbling around us), one might imagine that possibly, just possibly, with all that illegal cash, that Israel is receiving from the US, Israel would be fully capable of protecting itself.

So the answers you have provided ring utterly hollow, as the "reasons why" the US military is still in Syria. What you and Israel may have in mind for Syria and Iran, I shudder to contemplate.

Pussy John Bolton and His Codpiece Mustache: Examining the Freak Show

American government has become a collection of sordid and dangerous clowns. It was not always thus. Until Bush II, those governing were never lunatics. Eisenhower, Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Obama, Clinton had their defects, were sometimes corrupt, and could be disagreed with on many grounds. They weren’t crazy. Today’s administration would seem unwholesome in a New York bus station at three in the morning. They are not normal American politicians.

In particular they seem to be pushing for war with Iran, China, Russia, and Venezuela. And–this is important–their behavior is not a matter of liberals catfighting with conservatives. All former presidents carefully avoided war with the Soviet Union, which carefully avoided war with America.

Saudi-led coalition in Yemen launches a targeting operation in Sanaa

CAIRO (Reuters) - The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen launched a targeting operation in the Houthi-held capital, Sanaa, Saudi state TV reported on Saturday.

The operation targeted a location for storing and preparing drones and launch vehicles in Sanaa.

The coalition added that the operation conformed to international law and that measures were taken to protect civilians.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Notice the cold, almost clinically detached, tone of the reporting.

And notice also, no images of the attack, with carnage raining down from the skies; and no mention of the number of civilians maimed for life or killed, many of them just infants and toddlers.

And that last statement "The coalition added that the operation conformed to international law and that measures were taken to protect civilians.", was simply cosmetic, to "save face" for when local first responders get to the site, and try, desperately, to untangle the living from the dead.

So Yahoo and Reuters, here is what life looks like in Yemen, courtesy of this Saudi-generated, US-enabled war against this country: (warning: very graphic images)

Images:
Dead, dying, and maimed for life kids, courtesy of US-enabled Saudi Bombing Runs

Images: Yemeni children dead, or dying of cholera, possibly weaponised, and with water resources deliberately destroyed by US-enabled Saudi military

Images of Yemeni children dying from malnutrition, because a US and Saudi blockade of Yemeni ports.

President Trump, I would have never thought for a moment, when you were campaigning, that you would continue to sign off on US aided and abetted Saudi war crimes in Yemen; and yet, you absolutely appear to have utterly no moral qualms whatsoever, about the assassinations of the innocent here, not to mention that your good friends in the weapons industry, are making such a killing, both literally, and financially, through this grinding war.

To the American Congress, which is the only body in the US government which can legally declare war, you must, lawfully, and peacefully, reclaim your power in this regard.

It is high time for both a very public, peaceful conversation about this Saudi-led, US-abetted war to happen, followed through upon, with veto-proof legislation Congress passes to get our contribution to this horrific genocide ended.

POMPEO ATTEMPTS TO LINK IRAN, HEZBOLLAH TO CRISIS IN VENEZUELA

During a Wednesday night interview with FOX Business host Trish Regan, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made several statements that raised eyebrows, such as claiming that Cuba had invaded Venezuela and “taken control” of the Venezuela’s “security apparatus” and that U.S. sanctions illegally imposed on Venezuela “aren’t aimed at the Venezuelan people.”

However, the most surprising claim Pompeo made in the interview was that Hezbollah and Iran were “active” in Venezuela, presenting a national security “risk for America.”

After accusing China, Cuba and Russia of interfering with U.S. efforts to install U.S.-funded opposition figure Juan Guaidó and oust current Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, Pompeo made the following assertion:

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but has this man gone absolutely bonkers, and swallowed the Koolaid, in order to make that assertion?!?!?

But I can imagine, after Pompeo's having made such a ludicrous statement, what the follow-through action is going to have to be; something in Venezuela, or an American asset overseas, will be hit with a US-generated false flag, to be blamed both on Iran and Venezuela, and off we'll go.

Pompeo and President Trump have to know that, after all the lies about US intentions overseas, coupled with the hard economic truth of why we have invaded so many countries, Americans are both war-weary, and war-skeptical.

If Pompeo stops making reference to this, perhaps it was just a lousy attempt to somehow tie Hezbollah and Iran into this destabilization in Venezuela; but if he continues harping on this, you can bet your sweet bippy that something wicked this way comes, even if the US government has to fabricate it.

The United States has sued Lockheed Martin Corp, Lockheed Martin Services Inc, and Mission Support Alliance LLC, as well as a Lockheed executive for alleged false claims and kickbacks on a multibillion-dollar contract to clean up a nuclear site, the Justice Department said on Friday.

The complaint alleges Lockheed paid more than $1 million to Mission Support Alliance executives in order to win a $232 million subcontract for providing management and technology support at the Hanford, Washington site from 2010 through the middle of 2016 at inflated rates.

It also says the defendants lied about the amount of profit included in Lockheed's billing rates.

A Lockheed Martin spokeswoman denied the allegations, saying the company "rejects the suggestion that the corporation or its executives engaged in any wrongdoing. Lockheed Martin will defend this matter vigorously."

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have to wonder; how soon will the US government sue its weapons makers for not delivering on time, delivering equipment which does not perform as promised, and has obscene cost overruns?!?

TOP US NAVY ADMIRAL SLAMS $500MN RAILGUN PROJECT AS A ‘CASE STUDY’ IN FAILED INNOVATION

A $500-million project to develop an American electromagnetic railgun, in the makings for over a decade, should be used as a failed “case study” on how not to develop new weapons systems, a top US admiral has said.
“I would say that railgun is kind of the case study that would say 'This is how innovation maybe shouldn't happen,'” the chief of naval operations, Adm. John Richardson, told the Atlantic Council. “It's been around, I think, for about 15 years, maybe 20. So ‘rapid’ doesn't come to mind when you’re talking about timeframes like that.”

The futuristic weapon has been in development since 2005 and already cost the US taxpayer a whopping $500 million – and is not expected to enter service in the foreseeable future, if ever, the admiral admitted. Originally the Pentagon envisioned installing the completed weapon on Zumwalt-class destroyers by the mid-2020s.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This project has "failed boondoggle" written all over it.

To spend $500 million on a project which cannot work, is an obscene waste of taxpayers' money, and this has to stop.

Shouldn't the military, and the corporations which support them, have a time and cost ratio, and if a developed weapon fails at a far earlier phase than sopping up 500 million dollars, to be abandoned, with all research saved for the next incarnation of a weapon which might have the chance of actually working?!?

Because here it is painfully clear, that there was zero congressional oversight, and no clear exit from the development of this useless concept, which would really put us ahead of Russian or Chinese military technology; and this should be the "gold standard" of any weapon created for our military, and quickly.

"WTF IS GOING ON IN DOWNTOWN LA?": ARMY WAR DRILLS CONTINUE ACROSS LOS ANGELES

Having started on Monday, the US Army continues its war drills across the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area through Saturday with the goal of enhancing Army Special Forces skills by "operating in urban environments", Army Special Operations Command said in a statement.

“The local terrain and training facilities in Los Angeles provide the Army with unique locations and simulates urban environments the service members may encounter when deployed overseas,” the Army told CBS.

Downtown Los Angeles residents were shocked Monday night when a fleet of Boeing A/MH-6M Little Bird and Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters swooped in around them.

This is not the first time residents of a major metropolitan area across the US have experienced a military exercise. For instance, in 2015, Texas residents prepared for Jade Helm 15, an army training exercise which took place in multiple states.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The latter possibility makes the most sense; And I say this, because there are many things about to fail, economically, and socially, that might get people protesting to the point of riots which, of course, would have to be put down "with extreme prejudice" by our military, even if it means killing their own citizens.

Russia Summons US Diplomat Over INF: "Destroy Tomahawk Launch Pads And Attack Drones"

Russia has again slammed the United States for being in breach of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) after the US announced last Friday that it's suspending all obligations under the treaty in 180 days, during which time Moscow till has a chance to return to compliance. But this week in an apparent continuing tit-for-tat blame game, the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) summoned the US military attaché in Moscow to issue its own ultimatum.

The MoD reportedly told the US diplomatic representative that the US is in breach, and that it could return to compliance through elimination of its cruise missile launchpads and attack drones — the latter which the Russians said fit the definition of a “land-based cruise missile” under a different form, in accord with the Reagan-era deal.

The message was delivered on Wednesday via a treaty-related memo, the contents of which were first reported by RT as follows:

Webmaster's Commentary:

I hope the Russian government is not holding its collective breath, that the US leadership will allow that to happen; but the US trashing this agreement, by leaving it, will lead to a huge arms race, by countries other than those which currently have this kind of weapons technology.

MOSCOW REVEALS: US Plans To Deploy NUCLEAR Weapons In Europe By 2020 Aimed At Russia

The United States plans to begin deploying modified nuclear weapons in Europe in the first half of 2020, said Anatoly Sidorov, UNTSC chief of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

“The US intentions are to further exacerbate the international situation is demonstrated by its advanced aviation nuclear weapons mass production program, approved at the end of 2018,” Sidorov told a news conference.

He added that “the deployment of these weapons at Belgian, Dutch, German, Italian and Turkish air bases, where about 200 previous generation unmanned aerial bombs are stored, is expected to begin in the first half of 2020.”

Pentagon Official: No Plans to Develop New Missiles After End of INF Treaty

The head of Pentagon policy John Rood said that because the US has been in full compliance with the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty it has no plans to create or deploy an intermediate range missile system.

The Undersecretary of Defense for Policy made his statement after Russia indicated on Tuesday that it will also abandon the INF after the US withdrawal, with plans to develop two new land-based missile launch systems by 2021 to counter US developments in its missile capabilities.

“We don’t have an intermediate range system or something like that that we would, that we’re talking about deploying at this time. We’re going to look at our options in this regard,” Rood said, cited by the Hill.

Those who have not had a chance to experience all the "beauty" of the arms race of the 1960s and the 1970s are incredibly "lucky" today, as they can now understand what it feels like to live within a 4-10 minute flight of a cruise missile to Moscow.

QATAR TAKES DELIVERY OF FIRST FRENCH-BUILT RAFALE JET FIGHTER

The hand-over ceremony on Wednesday in Merignac, in southwestern France, where the planes are built, was attended by Qatar Defence Minister Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah and Dassault Aviation chief Eric Trappier.

Qatar ordered 24 of the fighters in 2015, adding 12 more last year. It also has an option to buy 36 more.

The twin-engine fighter has been in service with the French Air Force since 2004. France has also sold Mirage F1, Alpha Jets and Mirage 2000 fighters to Qatar.

After failing to sell the Rafale abroad for several years, France finally won a contract from Egypt in 2015 for 24 jets, followed by the sale to Qatar.

In September 2016, India also agreed to buy 36 of the fighters.

Qatar has upped its defence spending after being diplomatically isolated by its Gulf neighbours.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Qatari leadership knows what is coming, and wants to be as prepared as possible for a new, and violent, conflict in the Middle East, and perhaps, beyond.

And it was interesting in Pompeo's statement about the Anti-Iran Consortium; he never once mentioned the names of the members of this group, ao one has to wonder, besides Saudi Arabia and Israel, who has actually signed off on the agenda here?!?

Russia orders its rocket scientists to create land-based hypersonic missiles by 2020 after US backs out of Cold War treaty

Russia is set to build a new range of land-based cruise and hypersonic missiles after Washington tore up a 1987 nuclear treaty.

Vladimir Putin has ordered a ground-launched version of the Kalibr cruise missile to be built by 2020, adapting a weapon currently launched from warships and submarines.

Moscow will also ask its rocket scientists to develop a new hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile, amid growing fears of a new arms race with the United States.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Were I a betting woman, I would be willing to bet that the Russian weapons makers will deliver for Putin very much before his deadline.

But what are the US's weapons makers promising our President and the Pentagon that they will be delivering, to counter this?!?

INF IS DEAD. EUROPE IS ONE STEP CLOSER TO NUCLEAR WAR

For more than 30 years, the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) has been one of the cornerstones of the international security system. This ended on February 2, 2019 when the US officially suspended its participation in the Treaty. Washington said that it will fully terminate the treaty in 6 months if Russia does not comply with its ultimatum – the “verifiable” destruction of what Secretary of State Mike Pompeo described as “INF-violating missiles, their launchers and associated equipment”. US President Donald Trump said in an official statement that the US “will move forward with developing” its “own military response options” and will work with NATO members and other allies “to deny Russia any military advantage from its unlawful conduct.” By this statement, Trump in fact announced that the US is restoring production and deployment of INF-banned weapons.

Russia’s top diplomat indicates US deploying missile launchers to Japan violates INF

The placement of US missile shield launchers in Japan violates the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.

"As for the INF Treaty and the Kuril Islands, there is a certain link here, since the placement of the US global missile shield launchers on Japan’s soil is among the problems that exist in our relationship with our Japanese neighbors in the sphere of security," Lavrov said in his speech at the Russian-Tajik Slavic University.

US Revives Cold War "Arms Race" With Russia And China After Abandoning INF Treaty

As we previewed below, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has announced that the US will withdraw from the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces treaty immediately, prompting threats of a Russian "response" from Moscow.

According to RT, Pompeo said the US could return to compliance with the treaty if Moscow meets Washington's demands within the next 180 days. To convince the US to back down, Washington has insisted that Russia cease development of a new cruise missile. Moscow has repeatedly denied claims that it's in violation of the treaty.

The withdrawal, which has been expected for months, will formally take place on Saturday.

Quitting INF: US Likely to Develop New Missiles to Counter China – Scholar

The US’ seeming unwillingness to turn a sympathetic ear to Russia's reasoning with regard to the 1987 INF Treaty could be not connected with Moscow's alleged violations of the pact, scholars told Sputnik, commenting on the Russian Ministry of Defence's presentation of the 9M729 missile, which was snubbed by NATO officials.

The primary motivation behind Donald Trump's decision to pull out of the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty is that China is not a participant of the pact, says Rajeswari Pillai, senior fellow? and head of the Nuclear and Space Policy Initiative? Observer Research Foundation.

Speaking to Sputnik, Pillai pointed out that both Russia and the US have repeatedly accused each other of violating the treaty. However, "the real problem with the INF is not so much about the violations by Russia and the US, but that China is outside the treaty", he suggested.

ELECTION WILL NOT STOP US FROM BOMBING GAZA AND IRAN, INSISTS NETANYAHU

Israel’s Prime Minister said on Sunday that the General Election campaign would not stop his government from bombing the Gaza Strip or Iran, Anadolu has reported. The election is due to be held in April.

“If calm is not maintained in Gaza, Israel will not hesitate to move against it even during the election period,” Benjamin Netanyahu told his weekly Cabinet meeting. “I [also] have a message to the tyrants in Tehran: Israel will continue moving overtly to protect its future.”

The Israeli occupation authorities continue to fear any Palestinian retaliation for the Israel Defence Forces’ ongoing aggression and killing of unarmed demonstrators taking part in the Great March of Return protests along the nominal border between the Gaza Strip and Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Let's translate that" Netanyahuese" from that 2nd paragraph, and the sentence " Israel will continue moving overtly to protect its future.”

What Netanyahu really means here, is "We will bomb the crap out of your country, with the help of our American and Saudi "friends" leaving hundreds dead and dying, regime change the country, and never let you have a say as to how you want that country run, because the West will "impose" a governmental structure for you which suits their needs, both economically, and geopolitically.

Remember that 'Shah guy' the West imposed on Iran after deposing its legitimately elected President, Mohammad Mosaddegh?!? It will be something like that, only... worse!"

You're welcome, Mr. Prime Minister; thanks for letting me clear that one up for you!!

PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS: WASHINGTON RESURRECTED THE ARMS RACE

The meetings in Beijing during January 30-31 between Washington, Russia, China, France and the UK apparently failed to preserve the commitment to prohibit intermediate range nuclear weapons. Washington stuck to its determination to withdraw from the historic agreement of Reagan and Gorbachev to destroy all land-based intermediate range nuclear missiles. This US withdrawal from a nuclear weapons reduction agreement follows the George W. Bush/Cheney regime’s withdrawal from the anti-ballistic missile treaty. Indeed, since the Clinton regime, every US president has produced worsening trust between the two major nuclear powers.

No good can come of this as Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said at the Beijing meeting.

Webmaster's Commentary:

By doing this, President Trump has decided to define himself, geopolitically, as some sort of unspeakable hybrid between Darth Vader and Lord Voldemort, where "bad" competes with "worse than bad", on a moment by moment basis.

Now, what to name this evil entity; Darth Trumper? Lord Trumpdemort? Well let's try Lord Darth Trumpdemort (LDT, for short, and that should make him happy; after all, one of his BFFS in the Middle East, is known by his tag of 3 initials MBS, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman).

But all kidding aside, if there was ever a time when this country absolutely, and desperately, needed a Department of Peace, which would be tasked with providing alternatives to get, or create the outcome, the US government wants to see, without resorting to war, that time is now.

And yes, I know that with weaponry, the US has a great deal of "catching up" to do with both the Russians and Chinese.

But that having been said, what I am hearing is that sweet sound of a collective financial orgasm coming from every CEO of every weapons manufacturer in this country.

Congrats, guys, you must be feeling pretty special right now; you have subsumed this President into your "War-o-Rama Killing Machine", which will make the possibility of some kind of a just and lasting peace, nearly impossible.

And were I a betting woman, one of those ramp-ups to a coming world war, will most probably be some kind of "false flag" on American assets somewhere around the world, to be used as the justification for the resurrection of the draft in this country; that's right, you read that correctly.

So I must ask this question; will walking away from this treaty, as LDT has done, mean that having the ability to murder even more people in the space of one minute, actually make this country more safe?!?

Unfortunately, the short answer here, is "HELL, no!"

What prevents wars, is both enlightened foreign and domestic policies, and unfortunately, right at this moment in history, the Unhinged, Surveilled State of Amerika has neither.

It was rudderless, until the Neocons got LDT completely absorbed in its philosophies and to sign off on its action plan, with a huge "To Do" list, including Iran; Africa; and whatever other country on the planet has incredible natural resources, like Venezuela, which, of course, needs a "humanitarian intervention" to make sure that its government is US-centric; that those resources will only be harvested by companies that are US centric, and that those resources ... are only sold in the American collar.

Lather; rinse; repeat. How in the name of heaven, can I make this more clear to you?!?

And the most frightening, depressing, and crazy-making aspect to all of this is, that even if the American people stood up to LDT, and said, "You're Fired!", please trust me when I say that there is already another LDT in waiting, created by the the military industrial complex and the Deep State, ready to step in to continue the agenda toward a world war.

Americans are still suffering under the delusion that when it comes to national, Presidential elections, they have a choice, when the real "choices" are those vetted and approved by the military-industrial complex; the American Deep State, and the most powerful of corporations, both here, and internationally.

Russian MoD Shows PHOTO of US Plant Set to Produce Missiles Banned Under INF

Following the US' move to suspend its obligations under INF treaty, the Russian Defence Ministry on Saturday said that Washington started preparations for the production of medium- and short-range missiles prohibited under the INF deal two years before accusing Moscow of violating the accord.

The Russian Defence Ministry has released satellite images of Raytheon Corporation’s plant, saying the facility has been prepared for the production of missiles prohibited under the INF deal.

The picture, dated back to 3 December 2018, shows the factory measuring 4150×2300 metres. According to the ministry of defence, the complex contains three acting production units and one that is still under construction, as well as a test area, electric station, and semi-underground storage facilities.

In Tit-For-Tat, Russia Suspends INF Treaty; Putin Slams US "Demolishing" Global Security

The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) has effectively collapsed following the US announcing Friday that it's suspending all obligations under the treaty. Predictably Moscow's response has been swift, with President Vladimir Putin saying in a meeting with his foreign and defense ministers that Russia will now pursue missile development previously banned under its terms.

Putin said "ours will be a mirror response" in a tit-for-tat move that the Russian president ultimately blames on Washington's years-long "systematic" undermining of the agreement.

“Our US partners say that they are ceasing their participation in the treaty, and we are doing the same,” the Russian president said. “They say that they are doing research and testing [on new weapons] and we will do the same thing.”

After killing INF US has ‘free hand’ to reassert ‘supremacy in the world’ with ‘new arms race’

The collapse of the INF Treaty, conceded by the Kremlin on Saturday, is the result of decades-long “strategic destabilization of the nuclear balance” by the US, which wants a new international order, and perhaps a fresh arms race.
On Friday, Washington said it was suspending its participation in the 1987 agreement for 180 days, for alleged non-compliance by the other signatory, Moscow. The next morning, Vladimir Putin, flanked by two senior ministers, bemoaned that Russia “could not save” the milestone Cold War arms restriction agreement, despite generous offers to up its transparency.

According to Pierre-Emmanuel Thomann, a geopolitics analyst from Paris 8 University, this is the exact outcome Washington wanted, which already decided “beforehand to get out of the treaty” regardless of concessions.

BRITAIN’S SECRET PROPAGANDA “INTEGRITY INITIATIVE” TARGETS RUSSIA

In a desperate attempt to cover its tracks, the propaganda network linked to Britain’s security services, the Integrity Initiative (II), has wiped its website and locked its Twitter account “pending an investigation into the theft of data.”

The decision was taken shortly after the Anonymous hacking group released new II documents targeting Russia as supposedly the greatest threat to world peace, based on claims that it is the country most likely to use nuclear weapons.

The documents reveal yet more of the disinformation campaign used to justify NATO preparations for war with Russia, including the use of nuclear weapons.

Minutes from a joint workshop of the Institute for Statecraft (IfS), which runs the II, and the US government-funded Center for Naval Analyses discuss what would happen if the “West” intervened to “push back” a Russian advance in the case of a localized conflict.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would call this "the Duplicity Initiative"; why would Russia lob off a nuclear bomb against first strike target, understanding absolutely the consequences of such a move?!?

It is highly more likely that NATO and the West were exploring "false flag" scenarios, to blame on Russia, and then, head straight into a war against it.

I would strongly caution both President Grump and Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May, that neither country should even be entertaining such thoughts at the moment, because neither country has the weaponry; the money; the troop strength; or the manufacturing which would create a positive outcome in a war against Russia right now.

And until THAT is remedied and sorted by both countries, I would like to hope that more peace-centric leaders come to power in both countries, and that they will openly commit to a strategy of "engage, don't enrage", as a way of tampering down geopolitical tensions.

Russian efforts for disarmament unsupported by ‘partners’ for years – Putin

Moscow tried to arrange “substantial” disarmament talks for years, but ‘partners’ didn’t support this initiative, the Russian president said while announcing the suspension of the INF Treaty in a ‘mirror’ response to US steps.

“Over many years we suggested frequently and regularly conducting substantial talks on almost all aspects of disarmament,” Vladimir Putin said. “ But recently we have seen that our initiatives are not supported by our partners. On the contrary new pretexts for dismantling the existing system of international security are being created.”

MICHAEL BURLEIGH: The real reason Trump's ripped up the nuclear treaty that's kept us safe since the 1980s? Fear of China

This is not the first time President Trump has torn up an international agreement.

But his decision to withdraw from the long-standing Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces treaty with Russia is a milestone – and a disturbing one. After all, this is the treaty that helped bring the Cold War to a close.

It was signed in 1987 by Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to ban a dangerous new generation of intermediate and short-range weapons with a range of between 300 and 3,400 miles.

Launched from trucks on either side of the Iron Curtain, these weapons were hard for the enemy to find and destroy. More to the point, they introduced the terrifying idea of 'small' and more frequent nuclear conflicts.

Pompeo’s statement confirms US decided to quit INF long ago, says legislator

The statement by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who said Washington was suspending its obligations under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty and would withdraw from it in six months was no sensation. He only conveyed a decision that had been made a long time ago, Head of the Russian Federation Council (upper house of parliament) Foreign Affairs Committee Konstantin Kosachev said on Friday.

US suspends INF Treaty obligations — Pompeo
"Unfortunately, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s statement didn't stir up any sensation. The US confirmed its intention to put the final nail into the coffin of another important arms control pillar," Kosachev told reporters. "We can only say that Pompeo voiced that decision, which had been made a long time ago, before putting forward an ultimatum to Russia, so no action whatsoever by Moscow could have influenced that."

Saturday, February  2, 2019 Spotlight: Yemeni warring sides prepare for fresh escalation of fighting in Hodeidah

Yemen's warring factions began preparations for a fresh escalation of fighting raging over the control of the strategic Red Sea port city of Hodeidah, ignoring efforts aimed at cessation of hostilities.

The calls for an escalation in fighting between the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels and Yemeni government forces added angers to the agreement reached under the auspices of the United Nations in Sweden in December last year.

Senior leaders of the Houthi group based in Sanaa vowed to intensify military battles against the Saudi-led coalition and its local allies just in case the implementation of Sweden agreement failed.

Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, head of the Houthi highest revolutionary committee, said in a statement posted in Twitter that capturing the strategic port city of Hodeidah will not be easy for the Saudi-backed government forces.

And why the 180 day deadline?!? That's a good 6 months out.

New Images Appear Of Russian Autonomous, Unmanned "Hunter" Drone

The world first got wind of Russia's massive, 20-ton stealth drone fighter last summer when Russian defense industry sources told TASS, a Russian state-owned media outlet:

According to the defense official, the sixth generation jet program “has not yet taken full shape, its main features are already known.”

“First of all, it should be unmanned and capable of performing any combat task in an autonomous regime. In this sense, the stealth drone will become the prototype of the sixth generation fighter jet,’ the source said, adding that the drone will be able to “take off, fulfill its objectives and return to the airfield.”

“However, it will not receive the function of decision-making regarding the use of weapons – this will be decided by a human,” he said.

Well, as LiveJournal now reports, new images of the first prototype of the unmanned recon-strike drone - nicknamed "Hunter" - have been taken at the airdrome of the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant.

Who Is the Real Threat to World Peace: Nuclear Israel with Its 400 WMD or Non- Nuclear Iran?

U.S. intelligence officials confirmed to the Senate Intelligence Committee, on Tuesday, that Iran was not developing nuclear weapons in violation of the 2015 nuclear agreement, and furthermore had no strategic plans to do so.

This report from the US intelligence community indicate that Israel’s Netanyahu and his American cohort, Donald Trump, have deliberately misinformed the world regarding Iranian nuclear capability. The state of Israel, which is estimated to have in excess of more than 400 undeclared nuclear warheads must be compared to Iran which is not a nuclear weapon state. Who, therefore, is the threat to world peace?

Moscow: Russian Hypersonic Weapons Eliminate Threat From US Exit From INF Treaty

On 4 December, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo gave Russia two months to "return to compliance" with the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty or Washington would leave the accord on February 2.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated Friday that Russia's military capabilities guarantee the country's security irrespective of the US moves on the INF Treaty.

"I think this [US withdrawing from the INF] is an inevitable prospect, and there will be no deviations from the path stated by President Trump and his national security assistant John Bolton when he was in Moscow. This game is played, the Americans will eventually reject the contract", he added.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Leaving this treaty, as the US government has done, will generate an intense weapons race between the US, Russia, China, and other assorted nations, and private entities from around the world.

I am reminded of a line from one of Tom Leher's comedy bits, more profoundly real than he could have known over his lifetime, called "Who's Next"?!?, about just this sort of thing happening:

New low-yield US nukes make nuclear conflict more likely: Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned that the United States' decision to produce a low-yield nuclear warhead will only make a nuclear war more likely.

The US National Nuclear Security Agency (NNSA) confirmed Monday that it had started to produce a new low-yield nuclear warhead following President Donald Trump’s order last year to equip the Pentagon with tactical weapons that could be used in more realistic combat scenarios.

The new warhead was one of the three key changes introduced in the Trump administration's so-called Nuclear Posture Review (NPR). The other changes included development of a new sea-launched cruise missile and increased plutonium pit production over the next decade.

During a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Mohamed Ali al-Hakim in Moscow, Lavrov said Wednesday that Russia had already warned about the potential risks of weapons upon the unveiling of the NPR.

Level of Potential Conflict Worldwide Reaches Dangerous Point - Moscow

Representatives of five major nuclear powers – China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States or "nuclear five" met in Beijing on Wednesday.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said at the meeting that the level of potential conflict in the world has reached a dangerous point.

"The situation in the sphere of international security has not stabilized and even continued to deteriorate. The level of conflict potential has reached a very dangerous point", Ryabkov said.

Armed Services Committee Chairman Warns US And China "Headed For World War III"

Given that China's President Xi Jinping started the year by obliquely warning the US to stay out of Taiwan's business, perhaps it's not surprising that Senators are starting to join US military commanders in warning Americans not to underestimate the threat posed by China's unprecedented military buildup in the Pacific.

In the latest - and perhaps the most stark - warning to date, Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma - who recently took over as the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee - warned during a hearing about the challenges posed by China and Russia on Tuesday that people need to better understand the threats both countries pose to the international world order that America helped create, according to the Military Times.

BOOGA BOOGA! China, Russia Preparing For "Blackout Warfare" With "Super-EMP" Bombs

Russia, China and several other nations are developing powerful high-altitude nuclear bombs that can produce super-electromagnetic pulse (EMP) waves capable of knocking out critical electronic infrastructure, according to several declassified 2017 reports from the now-defunct Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from EMP Attack (see below).

"Foreign adversaries may aptly consider nuclear EMP attack a weapon that can gravely damage the U.S. by striking at its technological Achilles Heel, without having to confront the U.S. military," reads the report, which notes how foreign actors could use EMP attacks virtually anywhere in the world.

US nuclear weapons: first low-yield warheads roll off the production line

The US has begun making a new, low-yield nuclear warhead for its Trident missiles that arms control advocates warn could lower the threshold for a nuclear conflict.

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) announced in an email it had started manufacturing the weapon at its Pantex nuclear weapons plant in Texas, as ordered by Donald Trump’s nuclear posture review (NPR) last year.

The NNSA said the first of the new warheads had come off the production line and that it was on schedule to deliver the first batch – an unspecified number referred to as “initial operational capability” – before the end of September, according to the email, first sent in response to an enquiry from Exchange Monitor, which covers the nuclear weapons complex.

Nuclear Threat Grows as US Prepares to Withdraw From INF Treaty

With the US poised to begin its withdrawal from the landmark Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty on February 2, there’s been an uptick in media focus on arms control and the nuclear weapons, even as the US public remains largely disengaged.

The INF treaty, signed by the US and Soviet Union in 1987, led to the elimination of nuclear and non-nuclear ground-launched ballistic and cruises missiles with a range of roughly 310 to 3,410 miles (500 to 5,500 km). Since 2013, however, the US has accused Russia of violating the treaty at least 30 times, pointing to Russia’s SSC-8 ground-launched cruise missile as posing “significant risks to Euro-Atlantic security.” Meanwhile, Russia denies violating the INF.

In December, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo issued an ultimatum: the US would “suspend [treaty] obligations” in 60 days if Russian compliance could not be verified.

Saudi Arabia’s Nuclear and Ballistic Missile Program

The Washington Post broke the story [1] on Wednesday, January 23, that satellite images suggested Saudi Arabia had constructed its first-known ballistic missile factory. Paul Sonne, reporting for The Washington Post, notes: “If operational, the suspected factory at a missile base in al-Watah, southwest of Riyadh, would allow Saudi Arabia to manufacture its own ballistic missiles.”

The report adds:

“The ballistic missile manufacturing complex — which satellite images suggest broke ground in 2013 when King Salman was defense minister — highlights the nation’s intention to make its own advanced missiles after years of seeking to purchase them abroad.”

NATO, Russia Again Fail to Agree on Nuclear Treaty Dispute

A meeting of the NATO-Russia Council in Brussels ended Friday failing to agree on the continued dispute surrounding the Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, leaving the matter unresolved. US officials indicate they’ll withdraw from INF in the next two weeks.

The entire issue surrounding the INF is a claimed Russian violation based on a new missile system and US speculation about the missile’s hypothetical maximum range. NATO backed the US claims of a violation, and there’s really been no progress since.

Russia has offered some access to the missiles, including putting one on display publicly in Moscow for foreign military attaches and foreign journalists to review. The US insisted that this wouldn’t be enough.

The US says they will ditch the treaty if Russia doesn’t end the violation, and at this point that’s only doable by totally disarming their short-range ballistic missiles in the next week, something they clearly won’t do.

MAINSTREAM MEDIA IS LITERALLY MAKING PEOPLE SICK

I do not for one second doubt that Americans are feeling more stressed and suffering more health-degrading symptoms as a result than they were prior to Trump’s election. But Pacific Standard and its “growing body of research” ignore the most obvious and significant culprit behind this phenomenon which is tearing people’s health to shreds: the mass media which has been deliberately fanning the flames of Trump panic.

The always excellent Moon of Alabama blog has just published a sarcasm-laden piece documenting the many, many aggressive maneuvers that this administration has made against the interests of Russia, from pushing for more NATO funding to undermining Russia’s natural gas interests to bombing Syria to sanctioning Russian oligarchs to dangerous military posturing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What is infinitely more grating, from where I sit, is not the "Trump Panic Syndrome", but the "Trump Reality Syndrome", which includes things he had promised on the campaign trail which he has not done... and things President Trump has done, in these first two years of his Presidency.

1. The massive disparity between the monied and the desperate keeps growing exponentially. There are little victories, of smaller companies moving back to the US (probably with some rich state/town perks and benefits for having done so.) But the consistent off-shoring, out-sourcing of American jobs continues apace. There is an epidemic of homelessness in this country which is unprecedented.

Remember the stunning scenario which inspired Victor Hugo to create his "Les Miserables"?!? In 1845, on the streets of Paris, he observed the same incident that triggers the novel's action. On a sunny but cold day, he saw an impoverished man being arrested for stealing a loaf of bread. As the man stood on the street, an ornate carriage pulled up beside him. Inside there was a dazzlingly beautiful woman dressed in velvet, playing with a child hidden under ribbons, embroidery and furs. The impoverished man stared at the woman in the carriage, but she was totally unaware of him. Hugo wrote that he saw this man as, "The spectre of misery, the ghostly forewarning in full light of day, in the sunshine, of the revolution still plunged in the shadows of darkness, but emerging from them. The moment he became aware of her existence, while she remained unaware of his, a catastrophe was inevitable."

Folks, we're there, right now; history may not necessarily repeat, but occasionally it rhymes. And let me say, for the record; as a Christian pacifist activist, I abhor violence, and would never advocate its use.

And those great pronouncements about the employment in this country, are running so low; this is a marvelous subterfuge, and a neat "hat trick", courtesy of the Department of Labor Statistics.

You see, people who are unemployed for more than 4 weeks, are deliberately purged from the figures as not interested in working, almost as though they had never existed at all.

If the US unemployment rate included everyone who says they want a job, it would be nearly double

2. President Trump withdrew the US from the P5+1 deal, even though the IAEA continues to state that the Iranians are currently keeping their end of the deal. I cannot begin to articulate just how completely insane, and counter productive this was. There are many things about which I rightly criticized the Obama Administration, but this was not of them. And the consequences?!?

Remember: demonization, plus Sanctions, create the American Preludes to War.

We are on the doorstep of such a war against Iran, because Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu, keeps advocating it, calling Iran "the existential enemy" of Israel. We are plunged into our "2 minutes of hate against Iran", ad nauseum, by the corporate presstitutes. So, let's see, what could possibly go wrong here?!?

Emboldened by one of his BFFs in the Middle East, President Trump, Israel has been making bombing runs into Syria to destroy alleged Iranian placements of personnel, and equipment in that country. Netanyahu: we will not stop fighting Iran as long as I lead Needless to say, Iran is not amused with these actions, and Russia, who has been assisting the Syrian government in getting rid of US backed, equipped, and funded jihadis in Syria, has told Israel in no uncertain terms, to back off. As of yesterday, Russia blasted Netanyahu with the following demand: Israel's airstrikes against Syria must stop. We also see the following headline: World War III: Iran, Syria, Russia and Israel

I do hope our President understands the following: Tel Aviv thoroughly expects the costs of such a war to be borne in American blood and money; not Israeli. Should such a war begin, expect Russia (and perhaps China) to come into the fray on Iran's side.

3. And speaking of war, let's remember the Saudi war against Yemen, where the American government and military are complicit in Saudi war crimes. Why Are U.S. Bombs Killing Civilians in Yemen?

The reason is simple: The Saudis love to buy American bombs to continue to create a genocide in Yemen.Saudi Arabia is the top buyer of US weapons" President Trump has, by default, and his sign-off on all these deals, has given him yet another title: The American Merchant of Death in Chief.

Please think about that for a minute. Did you ever think, when you were a kid, about how you would feel, understanding you would be a citizen of a US government which would be complicit in war crimes?!?

3. The illegal immigration solutions President Trump promised the American people, have gone down in flames.

4. Us sanctions around the globe in places like Russia, China, and Venezuela, are pushing other countries further away from the US, both in relationships, and finding creative ways to ditch the dollar, and come to other understandings about how finance can be conducted.

5. I notice the corporate presstitutes are continually spewing out their vile codswallop against countries which have done nothing to the US, to further the governments'agendas which, at this time, seem to be all-out war-centric. The two countries which come to mind, are Iran, and Russia.

The US government accuses Russia of having "annexed Crimea", which never, in reality, did happen; After the 2014 Putsch in Ukraine, Crimea did two things; in a fair and peaceful referendum, the Crimean government asked the people of Crimea, if they wanted to stay in Ukraine, or petition the Russian Federation for membership. The Crimean people voted overwhelmingly to petition the Russian Federation for a membership, and the Russian Federation accepted this. And please remember: in an interview with CNN, President Obama confessed to have brokered a deal for "regime change" in Ukraine. In a CNN interview, President Obama Confesses that the US brokered a deal for" Regime change" in Ukraine, January, 2015

6. The US has left a ton of military footprints around the world. the list is breathlessly long, and may contain country names you haven't thought about since High School Geography, or may have been recently created

These are the true issues of "The Trump Reality Syndrome".

Please understand that I am just as angry about these issues as many of you are, but realize that I need to channel my anger into logic, research, and coming up with alternate ways in which this country could get what it wants, geopolitically, without resorting to war.

Because right now, war - and the monied who become enriched through war and military conflicts around the world - are winning, and I am singularly depressed about this.

Pentagon: Chinese Military Units Training With ASAT missiles

Chinese military forces have deployed multiple units armed with anti-satellite (ASAT) missiles that can destroy scores of American satellites, according to a Pentagon intelligence report.

The new report by the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, known as NASIC, revealed that People's Liberation Army units have begun training with the satellite-killing missiles.

The report warns that China, along with Russia, has developed an array of space arms designed to challenge U.S. space superiority. The report was made public last month.

The report for first time reveals that Chinese military units already are conducting training for space attacks with anti-satellites missiles. Russia also is developing a new anti-satellite missile the report said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Then the question must be asked, and honestly answered; why is the US not ahead of China and Russia in these technologies?!?

What is almost so insestuous about the relationships between the military/industrial complex, and those corporations which provide their weapons, that the quality of weaponry keeps deteriorating, and costs for these programs are mushrooming out of control?!?

Damascus Threatens to Respond to Israeli Attack With Strike on Tel Aviv Airport

Permanent Representative of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations Bashar Jaafari said that it was time that the United Nations Security Council took action to stop constant Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, adding that Damascus might exercise its right to self-defence and respond to the Israeli attack on Damascus Airport with a symmetric strike on Tel Aviv Airport.

"Isn't it is the right time for this council to take the necessary measures to stop the repeated Israeli aggression against the territories of my country or should we attract the attention of the war makers in this council be exercising our legitimate right for self-defence and respond to the Israeli aggression against the Damascus International Airport by launching an aggression against Tel Aviv Airport?" Jaafari said speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This is all for show; Jaafari knows that the UN is impotent against Israel; one world leader, however, who is capable of bloodying Israel's nose militarily, is President Putin of Russia.

There have been reports of conversations between Putin and Netanyahu; I have to wonder how true they are, because it doesn't look as though Putin has been able to neutralize Netanyahu's behaviour.

Time will sort that mystery, however.

Make No Mistake: ISIS Needs the U.S. to Survive

“We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency,” the president wrote. He later expanded on that sentiment in a video message, posted on Twitter. “Our boys, our young men and women, are coming home now,” Trump noted. “We won.”

But a recent attack on U.S. forces in Syria, carried out by a suicide bomber which ISIS claimed was operating on its behalf, has led to an outpouring of criticism of Trump’s precipitous decision. “ISIS has claimed credit for killing American troops in Syria today,” Senator Marco Rubio tweeted in the aftermath of the attack. “If true, it is a tragic reminder that ISIS not been defeated and is transforming into a dangerous insurgency. This is no time to retreat from the fight against ISIS. Will only embolden & strengthen them.”

Israeli Election Ad Brags on Bombing Gaza Back to the Stone Age

Second ad for Gantz includes 'kill counter' related to 2014 Gaza War.

Running for parliament in the upcoming April vote, former Israeli Army Chief Benny Gantz has steered heavily into his military history, and large numbers of people killed and damage done in the 2014 Gaza War.

One of his videos focuses on aerial footage of a destroyed Gaza neighborhood, bragging that “parts of Gaza were returned to the stone ages,” and bragging the devastation led to “3-5 years of quiet.”

A second video for Gantz shows Palestinians attending funerals with a “kill-counter” prominently displayed, going up to 1,364, the number Israel reports to have killed in 2014. The video concludes “only the strong win.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Wouldn't it be nice for any Israeli Presidential candidate to speak honestly, and reasonably, about how to engage Gazan Palestinians with real prospects for peace and financial betterment, rather than offer them only hate, and certain extermination?!?

Satellite Images Reveal China Is Building Secret War Bunkers Near Indian Border

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has constructed a new, underground facility (UGF) about 31 miles from the India-China border, and 37 miles from the Indian Army’s forward posts at Demchok in Ladakh.

According to The Print, satellite imagery identified a deeply buried hardened target (DBHT) under construction outside the town of Ngari, also known as Shiquanhe in Mandarin.

Construction started in December 2016, about six months before the 2017 China–India border standoff near the India-China-Bhutan tri-junction in the east.

The Print, specified that special personnel are being used instead of locals, to maintain secrecy and security of the project.

The UGF appears to have four large tunnel entrances and three small ones; all have hardened entrances with reinforced concrete. Judging by the images, the openings would soon be covered with other material to withstand a direct military strike.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF this report is true, it is very distressing, due to the following:

Recently, there is also a new "thaw" in the Pakistani and Chinese economic courtship: China's Belt and Road Plan in Pakistan takes a military turn

And here's a very important article about a US/India defense deal, finalized last September: US and India sign 'breakthrough' military agreement despite differences over Iran and Russia

So if China is thinking about attacking India over disputed border issues, the US will be fighting on India's side.

I don't know what odds Vegas bookies are putting on it, but were I a betting woman, I would bet that a military draft will be reimposed in this country, and very soon.

Trump’s New Missile Policy Relies Heavily on Largely Unproven Technologies

President Donald Trump took to a Pentagon podium on Thursday to paint a picture of a gathering storm — a not-too-distant storm of long-range, defense-evading enemy missiles.

“All over, foreign adversaries, competitors, and rogue regimes are steadily enhancing their missile arsenals…Their arsenals are getting bigger and stronger,” Trump said. “They’re increasing their lethal strike capabilities, and they’re focused on developing long-range missiles that could reach targets within the United States.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

A foreign policy coming from this White House to engage, rather than enrage those members on the world stage who absolutely have this technology, would be a wonderful thing to see, from this administration.

Unfortunately, however, this administration is so "pedal to the Metal" war-centric, as though this is the ONLY way to resolve geopolitical tensions, that such a foreign policy shift... is apt to happen only... when pigs discover they are aerodynamic.

TRUMP TO USE FEDERAL FUNDS TO PROP UP US BOMB MAKERS

Welcome to US direct investment in the military-industrial complex.

President Donald Trump has approved direct federal investment in suppliers of American bomb parts and chemicals, part of as much as $250 million in direct investments by the Pentagon, reports The Military Times.

The government funding for those suppliers, under the Defense Production Act, is meant to lift a sub sector of the defense-industrial base that the Pentagon deems weak. It’s also a significant step in broader plans within the administration to remedy fragile markets and foreign dependencies among the military’s suppliers, according to the Times.

“There will be many more of these to come to address gaps and vulnerabilities in the defense-industrial base,” Peter Navarro, director of the White House Office of Trade and Industrial Policy, said. “This is exactly what we should be doing and an example of how the administration is more attentive to the issue.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Apparently, the obscene profits being made right now, in the military industrial complex, are absolutely NOT enough for them to be able to move forward to modernize the US's weaponry program, so they are, again, whining and suckling at the breasts of We the Taxpayers, to the tune of $250 million.

The question I have to ask, is, please, where is this money coming from?!?

And there is no period of public discussion on this?!?

25 Years Ago an Agreement on the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons in Ukraine Was Signed

On January 14th 1994 in Moscow the presidents of Ukraine, Russia, and the US signed the tripartite declaration for the liquidation of nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Under the treaty 176 intercontinental missiles and 1500 nuclear warheads on the territory of Ukraine had to be liquidated.

One might ask what has Donbass got to do with this?

Watchdog Slams US Missile Defense Review as 'Threat' to Global Nuke Deterrence

The 2019 Missile Defense Review advocates destabilizing policies that the United States should reject and concentrate instead on negotiating strategic stability with Russia and China, the Arms Control Association (ACA) said in a new paper.

"[T]he United States should pursue wide-ranging dialogues with Russia and China on strategic stability, including the impact of missile defense, and forswear particularly destabilizing steps, such as pursuing space-based interceptors," the ACA said in the paper that was published on Thursday.

The Trump administration should also scrap the testing of SM-3 Block IIA interceptors against intercontinental ballistic missiles, the paper, "Trump’s Dangerous Missile Defense Buildup," said.

‘SOMEONE WILL MAKE MONEY BY STOKING FEARS’ – RON PAUL ON NEW US MISSILE DOCTRINE

The new US missile defense strategy is a boondoggle for the military-industrial complex, which will drive the US into more debt and can bring misery upon multiple nations by fueling an arms race, ex-US Congressman Ron Paul said.
Plans to weaponize space with a new layer of sensors unveiled by Trump as part of his administration's Missile Defense Review is an unnecessary and hard-to-implement project that is sure to enrich the military-industrial lobby, Paul told RT.

"The biggest issue here is someone is going to make a lot of money on it. It reminds me of Star Wars. They've never really developed it, but people got excited about it," Paul said, drawing parallels between President Donald Trump's new endeavor and former President Ronald Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative program.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump has truly devolved into the borg of America's military/industrial complex; for him, resistance was, and is, futile, courtesy of the marvelous support for him, by this industry, due to soaring profits from these never-ending wars.

"STAR WARS" RETURNS: US MILITARY TO DEVELOP SPACE-BASED MISSILE DEFENSE SYSTEM

In what looks to be a highly ambitious and even more highly cost-prohibitive scheme, President Trump has announced his intention to greatly expand US missile defense systems, with a major focus on putting them in space.

During his announcement Thursday at the Pentagon, Trump set out his goals, saying that he wants “to ensure that we can detect and destroy any missile launched against the United States – anywhere, anytime, anyplace.”

The Pentagon has had space-based interceptors on its wish list for some time, but between that and drones with lasers on them, they were far short of the sort of total, planet-wide coverage that President Trump is talking about.

A space-centric missile defense system must inevitably draw comparisons to the Strategic Defense Initiative, commonly called Star Wars, of the 1980s, a controversial and hugely expensive program that also sought space-based interceptors.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, a word, please.

What about being responsible for a foreign policy which engages, rather than enrages, the two major players in this game, China and Russia?!?

Now, THAT... would be an incredible legacy, which you are still capable of creating, notwithstanding a potential impeachment threat from the house, which the Senate will utterly not allow to happen.

And how about, please NOT accusing Russia of something it absolutely did not do, as in the alleged "annexation" of Crimea, which NEVER happened in fact?
President Obama admits that the US brokered a deal in support of regime change in Ukraine

Mr. President, when you took office I was hopeful that perhaps you actually meant what you said, when you spoke of disengaging from these immoral, horrific wars by which our military has been consumed; now, in looking at your record as President, you seem to be hell-bent on getting this country even more enmeshed in military misadventures.

And please, don't even talk to me, about the reality that the US military is complicit in Saudi war crimes in Yemen;America is Committing War Crimes in Yemen and don't give me any reason why in the name of heaven, American troops are in Syria, an engagement to which the US government was never invited in the first place?

The Planned U.S. Troop Withdrawal From Syria: Here's the Latest

Mr.President, due to the actions of your predecessors, the Unhinged, Surveilled State of America, is at an historic turning point, right now; please do not let the dream of the creation of this country turn any more into a nightmare than it already is.

Trump Plans Missile Interceptors, Sensors And Radars "To Shield Every City"

Thursday's presidential visit to the Pentagon for the long awaited Missile Defense Review — the first such congressionally mandated assessment of the state of the nation's defense systems since 2010 — gave Trump yet another chance to chastise NATO allies on his as yet unmet demand that they "step up" defense spending. He also hinted that he plans to stick by his recent deeply controversial decision to pull out of the Reagan-era Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty with Russia.

“We are committed to establishing a missile defense program that can shield every city in the United States and we will never negotiate away our right to do this,” President Trump said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem is not that we cannot develop military technology; unfortunately, the cold, hard facts are that China and Russia do, and appear to be way ahead of the US right now in this weapons technology.

The lead time from developing to testing these can be intense, but I am certain that both President Putin and China's President Xi Jinping could tell you, probably to the day, how long it takes.

But first, this Country desperately need a foreign policy which doesn't turn heads of states away from dealing with the US as an equal partner and friend; and that, my friends, is the most depressing thing about US foreign policy right now.

NSC Swears US policy on Israel’s Nukes Is Legit

Releasing secret presidential letters that promise not to officially recognize Israel’s nuclear weapons program or pressure Israel to sign the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons would harm US national security. So claimed John P. Fitzpatrick, Senior Director of the Information Security Management Directorate at the National Security Council in a December 18, 2018 affidavit submitted to DC federal court.

The affidavit supports a motion by the National Archives and Records Administration to dismiss a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit seeking two of four letters signed by incoming US presidents – under intense pressure by Israel’s government – to maintain a Nixon-era policy of "strategic ambiguity" towards Israel’s nuclear weapons program.

The EU Votes for the Installation of New US Missiles in Europe

Near the United Nations Glass Palace in New York, there is a metallic sculpture entitled “Evil Defeated by Good”, representing Saint George transfixing a dragon with his lance. It was donated by the USSR in 1990 to celebrate the INF Treaty concluded with the USA in 1987, which banned land-based short- and mid-range nuclear missiles (a reach of between 500 and 5,000 km). Symbolically, the body of the dragon is in fact made with pieces of US Pershing-2 ballistic missiles (originally based in West Germany) and Soviet SS-20 missiles (originally based in the USSR).

But the nuclear dragon, which in the sculpture is shown as dying, is now being reborn. Thanks to Italy and other countries of the European Union, which, at the United Nations General Assembly, voted against the resolution presented by Russia on the “Preservation and Implementation of the INF Treaty”, rejected by 46 to 43 with 78 abstentions.

TYPHOID JOHN SPREADS NEOCON INFECTION AT THE WHITE HOUSE

While the corporate media doubled down on the prospect of Trump’s wall emergency, the neocon infection inside the floundering Trump administration spread. John Bolton appointed one of his buddies from the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) to a key post.

Richard Goldberg is an ideal selection for a neocon-ized National Security Council, a forum created in 1947 as then President Truman went about building the national security state. The NSC drives US foreign policy—and with Bolton stomping around the White House unbound, that foreign policy is primarily about Israel and its enemies, although emphasis is shifting ominously toward confrontation with China and Russia.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Right after the inauguration, I was somewhat hopeful that Trump would actually "drain the swamp"; unfortunately, as his term of office grinds into its third year of destruction of the US economy, through wildly punitive tariffs on Russia, Iran, and China, and threatening war against any country he doesn't particularly like, I am forced to realize that this hope was hope was an utter and complete delusion.

It is now clear to me, that President Trump is getting ready to start a major war in the Middle East, on Israel's behalf, and as to whether it will be against Iran; Syria, Lebanon, I cannot say at the moment.

The other large unknown will be, that it is very possible that should such a war come about, that Russia and China will join these countries in fighting the US and Israel.

Should this happen, and I think it will be well before Israel's election on 9 April, so that Netanyahu will have something "positive" to share with the Israel people going to the polls. It will most likely be well before the Israel's AG decides to prosecute Netanyahu for corruption. Israel's AG will announce decision on whether to indict Netanyahu next month

Counting from today, that gives Netanyahu and the US government a total of 50 days between now and the end of February, to "do something butch" in the Middle East, in order to push the impending announcement of the indictment off the top of news.

And It also pushes this action against these Middle East countries sooner, if the announcement is to be made in February; we on have 23 days left in January.

But the heavy pre-positioning of military assets in the region, in terms of Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine troops, should be enough to concern any thinking American.

I don't know how the bookies in Vegas are placing odds of the resurrection of the draft in this country might be, but if I were a betting woman, I would bet them to be very high right now, as our troop force strength is relatively low, and our military recruitment from volunteers is dwindling.

US Navy ‘Confident’ F-35Cs Will Be Combat Ready On Time

The United States Navy is likely to hit a goal set in 2013 to prepare the F-35C Joint Strike Fighter for combat by February 2019, according to a new report.

Snafus with the potential to derail the F-35 program have not happened in recent months, Military.com reported Friday. The Navy's Joint Strike Fighter Fleet Integration Office is "confident," therefore, that it will meet program milestones "as planned," spokeswoman Lt. Lauren Chatmas said in a Friday statement to military.com.

An F-35C Lightning II carrier variant joint strike fighter assigned to the Salty Dogs of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 23 launches off the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69).

US Navy: F-35C ‘at Risk’ of Missing Another Key Schedule Milestone

Webmaster's Commentary:

I would love to share the Navy's strength of faith on this, but after all the delays, and upward "price adjustments", I am guessing that this may be a very rough "try-out" period for the jet fighter.

US-Backed Syrian Militants Carry Out Rare Surface-to-Surface Missile Test

What do US forces in Syria do when the Commander-in-Chief orders a "full" and "immediate" draw down of troops from the country? They conduct a rare surface-to-surface missile test with their "rebel" partners on the ground of course.

An exclusive report from Middle East news site Al Masdar finds the following based on a video of the missile test uploaded to opposition social media on June 3rd, though it's unknown precisely when the test was carried out:

The U.S.-backed rebel forces carried out a rare missile test in the Al-Tanf region of southeastern Homs province recently.

U.S.-backed "Revolutionary Commandos" reportedly conducted this missile test in the Al-Tanf Zone that is located along the Iraqi border.

Webmaster's Commentary:

But I have to ask; at whom was this aimed?!? Did it, again, as happens so many times with US-led attacks, hit civilians?!?

There are no answers on that from this article.

CHINA SHOWS ITS FUTURISTIC STEALTH DRONE IN FLIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME (VIDEO)

Beijing has released a video showing its cutting-edge ‘Sky Hawk’ UAV in flight for the very first time. The experimental ‘invisible’ military drone is designed to up China’s game in combat and recon missions.
In a video released by the state broadcaster CCTV on Saturday, the drone can be seen lifting off from an airstrip and landing in an undisclosed location. The broadcast also contained animated footage of the aircraft maneuvering in the air and undergoing maintenance on the ground.

A video featuring China's flying saucer-like stealth drone the Sky Hawk was shown for the first time on CCTV on Sat, with experts saying the technologies mastered by Chinese developers will allow the drone fly faster, farther and escape detection. https://t.co/AeTSjn7vHA pic.twitter.com/KQoi9gDKWt

Webmaster's Commentary:

The problem is not that China has drones like this; the problem is that the US weapons industry doesn't really have anything major to compete against this.

FBI and CIA’s ‘Duty To Warn’ Victims of Israeli Nuclear Smuggling

NUMEC was launched and managed by Zalman Shapiro, a nuclear chemist credited with solving engineering issues for naval nuclear propulsion in the 1950s. His partner, David Luzer Lowenthal was a smuggler with murky ties to Israeli intelligence and industrialist. Luzer organized the emergence of NUMEC from a complicated merger and acquired facilities for NUMEC in a defunct steel mill in the middle of Apollo, Pennsylvania. The Zionist Organization of America, originally chartered to "do any and all things that may be necessary" to support Israel, supplied three of NUMEC’s executives. Zalman Shapiro, Pittsburgh region president of ZOA, Morton Chatkin and Ivan J. Novick who became ZOA’s national president.

‘GLOBAL ZERO’ DOUBLE STANDARD FOR NUCLEAR WEAPONS

In the coming clash between President Trump’s $750 billion defense budget and House Democrats’ desire to cut Pentagon spending, especially on nuclear weapons, there will be tremendous fiscal pressure to shortchange the almost $30 billion annual cost to modernize America’s strategic deterrent. The ideological cover for such penny-wise, pound-foolish cuts is the so-called Global Zero movement to eliminate all nuclear weapons.

But in reality, the global-zero idealists practice a dangerous double standard: They push the US to unilaterally cut its nuclear arsenal even as they ignore or excuse nuclear buildups by Russia, China, North Korea, and (under the table) Iran. Even if they were consistent, their pursue of zero nuclear weapons would still make no sense when none of the nine existing nuclear powers has any interest in completely disarming.

Russia to Deploy Precision Strike Missiles in Western Atlantic

Russia is deploying long-range, precision cruise missiles to the western Atlantic that American defense officials say will allow Moscow to target Washington and other East Coast cities with conventional or nuclear attacks.

Moscow is adding Kalibr land attack cruise missiles to both warships and missile submarines that Moscow plans to use in Atlantic patrols near the United States, sorties that were once routine during the Cold War.
