Israeli Media: Bennett Suggested NATO-Style Alliance Against Iran

Israeli media reported Sunday that during Friday’s meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and President Biden, Bennett proposed the idea of creating a NATO-style military alliance against Iran.

A reporter with Israel’s public broadcaster Kan said Bennett’s idea would form a military alliance between Israel, Jordan, and the Gulf states to “confront” Iran. The idea would include “the installation of radars and warning devices, to counter any air threat from Iran.”

A major aspect of the Abraham Accords negotiated by the Trump administration that normalized relations between Israel and several Arab countries, including the UAE and Bahrain, was to isolate Iran in the region. Ahead of his meeting with Biden, Bennett told The New York Times that he would propose a new Iran strategy that includes Israel strengthening ties with Arab countries that oppose Tehran.
