Official Figures: COVID-19 Yet to Impact Europe’s Overall Mortality

The official figures for 24 countries across Europe show, not only that overall mortality is not increasing, but – so far – it is actually well below recent averages.

The statistics were gathered by the European Monitoring of Excess Mortality for Public Health Action (EuroMOMO), an international partnership of agencies from 24 European nations aiming to promote preparedness for public health emergencies.

They track “excess mortality”, meaning the number of officially recorded deaths vs the average death rate.

We recommend you check their website, where each country is broken down by age demographics. Today, we’re focusing on their maps.

World's oceans are capturing twice as much carbon as previously thought thanks to microscopic carbon-loving plankton that float down to the ocean depths, study claims

US scientists say that the level of carbon that is distributed to the ocean floor depends on how much sunlight a microscopic type of plankton gets.

This phytoplankton, which consumes carbon dioxide and releases oxygen just like plants, is present in the ocean’s sun-lit surface area – known as the 'euphotic zone'.

Phytoplankton then enters the food chain or falls as organic dead matter, indirectly distributing carbon to the ocean depths.

But variations in the depth at which the euphotic zone ends means differences in how much carbon is being distributed to the bottom.

By measuring the actual depth of the euphotic zone – which is usually said to span from the very surface to 650 feet (200 metres) down – scientists say global carbon estimates may be inaccurate.

The Naval War College Ran a Pandemic War Game in 2019. The Conclusions Were Eerie

An infectious disease breaks out in a densely populated metropolis and is spreading rapidly, causing respiratory failure and death in its victims. As local containment and response mechanisms break down and cases multiply, it becomes clear that a global response -- spanning governments, humanitarian organizations, health agencies and the military -- will be required.

That scenario is not a condensed narrative of the COVID-19 pandemic that currently has much of the globe on lockdown. Rather, it's the premise of a war game run last September by the Naval War College (NWC) in Newport, Rhode Island.

LA doctor: COVID-19 patients go from 'very ill' to 'symptom-free' in 8 to 12 hours using hydroxychloroquine and zinc

A doctor in Los Angeles is reporting remarkable success in treating COVID-19 patients with a combination of zinc and the Trump-touted anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine.

Dr. Anthony Cardillo, an ER specialist and the CEO of Mend Urgent Care, has been prescribing the combination of drugs to patients experiencing severe symptoms of the disease after contracting the novel coronavirus.

"Every patient I've prescribed it to has been very, very ill and within 8 to 12 hours, they were basically symptom-free," Cardillo said in an interview Sunday with KABC-TV. "So, clinically I am seeing a resolution."

He added that combining the drug with zinc has been the key to the success. The hydroxychloroquine, he said, "opens the zinc channel" allowing the zinc to enter the cell, which then "blocks the replication of cellular machinery."

Bill Gates REFUSES to recommend nutrition (zinc, vitamin D, vitamin C) and instead focuses entirely on vaccines and police state tracking

During a recent interview with “CBS This Morning” co-host Anthony Mason, Gates divulged how he believes that the federal government needs to “set the priorities” on testing so that “we can all go back to some level of normalcy.”

According to Gates, the executive branch along with so-called “experts” in public health need to be putting extreme pressure on the governors of all 50 states to implement medical martial law, in violation of the Constitution, because this is the only way to tackle the crisis.

Failing at any point to mention the benefits of things like zinc, vitamin D and vitamin C for natural immune support, as well as any of the treatment methods successfully employed in South Korea, Gates instead spoke of harsh government restrictions, chemical vaccines and even novel Mark of the Beast microchips as the “solutions” to the pandemic situation.

Chinese Lab Theory Where Coronavirus Started Takes Off Amid Claims Staff ‘Got Infected After Being Sprayed With Blood’

“Senior sources in the British government say that while ‘the balance of scientific advice’ is still that the deadly virus was first transmitted to humans from a live animal market in Wuhan, a leak from a laboratory in the Chinese city is ‘no longer being discounted,'” The Mail reported.

One member of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s emergency committee said last night that while the latest intelligence did not dispute the virus was ‘zoonotic’ – originating in animals – it did not rule out that the virus first spread to humans after leaking from a Wuhan laboratory.

Clean & Unclean Foods & Dietary Laws The Bible and Food

Long list of animals to eat or not eat. Makes sense to me.

As discussed on page one, clean foods are those that do not harm the human body and so are fit for nourishment. Unclean foods on the other hand are those that do harm the body and hence are unhealthy to consume. The Bible clearly reveals what foods are good and bad for the human body and in Leviticus chapter 11 we find four categories that help us remember more easily a lot of what we can and cannot eat.

So note the following four scriptures to help you remember what foods are clean and unclean.

Tyrannical judges order coronavirus patients in Kentucky to wear tracking devices like prisoners, but how far do ’emergency powers’ go?

So yes, there certainly is danger out there. But the question must be asked: When have authorities gone too far with their power? If these kinds of actions can be justified under ‘emergency’ health orders, then any actions can similarly be justified. And from there, it gets really ugly in terms of loss of freedom.

The Recession Bread Lines Are Forming in Mar-a-Lago’s Shadow

In Palm Beach a diner races to feed laid off workers. Food banks and pantries see surge in demand and long-term need.

Though it’s just a four-minute drive across the lagoon from Mar-a-Lago, President Donald Trump’s private club, and ten minutes from the Palm Beach outposts of Chanel and Louis Vuitton, Howley’s diner has become an emblem of America’s stark new economic reality.

With more than 10 million people across the nation suddenly unemployed, bread lines are forming in the shadows of privileged enclaves like this one in Florida.

For the past two weeks, the kitchen staff at Howley’s has been cooking up free meals—the other day it was smoked barbecue chicken with rice and beans, and salad—for thousands of laid off workers from Palm Beach’s shuttered restaurants and resorts.

Anyone with some basic knowledge in mathematical modeling who had taken a look at the structure of the “Imperial College”-model would have noted the faults of this approach and its exaggerations. The model’s prognosis that the United Kingdom would have to count with more than half a million deaths and a complete overload of its health system reversed the British government’s earlier decision to use prudential surveillance and specifically targeted intervention and to shift to the full-control strategy, which required massive intervention into the public and private life of the nation. The leaders of other countries that were somewhat still in doubt jumped on the bandwagon and the march into a tyrannical State was programmed.

HUGE! Official IMHE Model for Coronavirus Used by CDC Just Cut Their Numbers by Half!... They're Making It Up As they Go Along!

Never Has So Little Done So Much Harm to So Many

Mortality Rate?

In February 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) – never known for its accuracy or consistency – declared a “Pandemic” for the coronavirus and claimed that the mortality rate for the novel coronavirus disease now designated as COVID-19 was 3.4%, while that for the seasonal flu was 0.1%. Of course, the news media ran with those numbers and splashed scary headlines across the World stating how much more deadly this new virus was than the seasonal flu. The problem with WHO’s statement, however, was that they applied two different formulas for the two viruses. For the COVID-19 disease, for example, they simply didn’t count any of the mild cases of COVID-19 that resolved themselves; yet, they did with the seasonal flu.

‘Fauci Can’t Possibly Know Covid-19 Is 10x Deadlier Than Flu’ — Dr. Bhattacharya of Stanford in Superb Video Interview

“He doesn’t know. He can’t now, because nobody has done the serologic test of how many people in the population have antibodies to the virus. So that’s what you need to know. So he can’t know that, nobody knows that. So he’s reflecting his guess on what that is and I’m relecting my guess on what it is. The fact is neither of us know, neither of us know that number because there’s no scientific study yet done to establish that number in any broad population.”

Also explains the choice we are facing is “not just dollars versus lives, it’s lives versus lives,” since a “global economic collapse will cost the lives of millions of people.” He says he is “scared to death” what the economic harakiri we are committing will do to India where he still has cousins.

Coronavirus latest: Spain deaths fall for third day; record spike in Tokyo’s daily cases

Spain saw a decline in the number of new deaths from the coronavirus for the third consecutive day, raising hopes that the worst of the country’s outbreak may be over.

The Health Ministry reported 674 fatalities in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 12,418. The number of confirmed cases rose to 130,759, from 124,736 a day earlier. The latest daily death toll is now lower than in the UK, which reported 708 fatalities on Saturday.

Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced on Saturday plans to extend a national lockdown for another two weeks until April 25. He initiated the restrictions on March 14 for an initial two-week period and subsequently extended them until April 11 as the virus outbreak accelerated.

Coronavirus USA Death Toll Nears 10,000, But Experts Say US Is Undercounting

The casualty toll inflicted by COVID-19 on the United States in only one month is beyond comprehension. On March 5, or exactly one month ago, there were only 161 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths in the entire country. The unimaginable toll as of late Sunday afternoon stood at 333,173 cases and 9,536 deaths, according to Worldometer.

What's even more horrifying are news reports the U.S. is undercounting the number of deaths from the disease but not intentionally. Health authorities interviewed by The New York Times say the official death toll doesn't capture the overall number of COVID-19 deaths.

This past September, with the design of the new Trilogy Evo Universal finally cleared by the Food and Drug Administration, HHS ordered 10,000 of the ventilators for the Strategic National Stockpile at a cost of $3,280 each.

But as the pandemic continues to spread across the globe, there is still not a single Trilogy Evo Universal in the stockpile.

Shocking Expose Proves Thousands Of COVID-19 Deaths Have Gone Uncounted In The US: Live Updates

Two reporters from the New York Times purport to have found evidence that health officials, often at the local or county level, are dramatically undercounting coronavirus deaths in the US. Citing information and documents provided by "doctors, hospital officials, public health experts and medical examiners," among others, the reporters claim that potentially thousands of deaths have gone uncounted, meaning the total is probably closer to 20k - or beyond - than the roughly 10k (9,180, per JHU) reported so far.

Next Wave Of Shortages Strikes: NYC Pharmacies Run Out Of Tylenol, Common Drugs

In the weeks since California became the first state to order residents to shelter in place, millions of Americans have grappled with an alarming fact: That shortages of products from Tylenol to toilet paper have continued. If anything, they've gotten worse, even as governors like Andrew Cuomo have pleaded with the public not to hoard and buy up supplies like gloves and masks that are needed by health-care professionals.

While health officials have tried to dismiss this simply as a consequence of panicked hoarding, there are more complex dynamics at play, as CNBC explains in a recent piece exploring the shortages of basic products and common medications at pharmacies across NYC - the epicenter of the national outbreak.

Tunisia Unleashes 'Robocop' To Enforce Virus Lockdown

Like almost every country in the world, the virus crisis has been a cover to usher in a massive surveillance state.

The latest example of this dystopic future coming to realty much quicker than anyone has anticipated is in Tunisia, reported AFP.

Tunisia's interior ministry has deployed a four-wheeled robot that harasses people if they're violating the strict public health orders to shelter-at-home.

The robot is known as PGuard, uses infrared and thermal imaging cameras to hunt for people who are violating the public health order. If someone is spotted, the robot will chase them down and ask:

"What are you doing? Show me your ID. You don't know there's a lockdown?"

Last week, one unsuspecting man was busted by a PGuard robot. Here's the video of how it all went down:

"Medical Supply Arbitrage": How Hordes Of Middle Men, Profiteers & Scammers Massively Inflated Prices Of N95s

Americans hear it every day now during Gov. Andrew Cuomo's press briefings. In the middle of a crushing pandemic, New York and other states are being grossly gouged as they shop around for medical supplies. With most of their regular relationships exhausted, states are competing against each other, a nonsensical and costly "bidding war" that Cuomo has blamed on President Trump.

N95 masks, which are now among the most prized commodities on the planet, are in such short supply, that some hospitals in NYC simply don't have them to provide to workers, forcing them to improvise. Cuomo says masks that recently cost just 40 or 50 cents are now being sold for $7 a pop, a roughly 13x markup.

This Is What COVID-19 Does To Your Body That Makes It So Deadly

COVID-19 is caused by a coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. Coronaviruses belong to a group of viruses that infect animals, from peacocks to whales. They’re named for the bulb-tipped spikes that project from the virus’s surface and give the appearance of a corona surrounding it.

A coronavirus infection usually plays out one of two ways: as an infection in the lungs that includes some cases of what people would call the common cold, or as an infection in the gut that causes diarrhea. COVID-19 starts out in the lungs like the common cold coronaviruses, but then causes havoc with the immune system that can lead to long-term lung damage or death.

SARS-CoV-2 is genetically very similar to other human respiratory coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. However, the subtle genetic differences translate to significant differences in how readily a coronavirus infects people and how it makes them sick.

How coronavirus feeds on the poor: US smartphone data reveals high-income earners can stay at home during the pandemic, while low-income workers have travel to work and expose themselves

Staying safe at home during the coronavirus pandemic is a luxury afforded the rich while low-income workers have no choice but to be out and about and travel to work, according to analysis of smartphone location data.

Around 297 million Americans - about 90 percent of the population - have now been ordered to stay home after at least 38 states have issued lockdowns.

But while the rich have holed up in their homes or even fled to their second homes in rural and beachside towns to hideout from the outbreak, poorer people across the US are continuing to move around despite lockdown rules and have an increased risk of catching the killer virus, smartphone location data from Cuebig and analyzed by the New York Times has revealed.

Calls to seal off ultra-Orthodox areas add to Israel's virus tensions

It wasn’t a typical police operation. Two Israeli officers were to go undercover, although not posing as drug dealers or arms traffickers. For this particular assignment, they were to disguise themselves as ultra-Orthodox Jews.

Their mission on Friday was to bust an illegal gathering in a synagogue. People were praying together, a practice that is now against the law in the era of the coronavirus. Once the officers got inside to confirm the crowd, more units barged in and dispersed people.

Forces left the area, according to police, but: “An hour later, it was reported that people had returned again.” At that point, officers handed out fines amounting to nearly £4,000.

Bronx Zoo Tiger Tests Positive For COVID-19

Last month, Dr. Fauci insisted at a White House task force press briefing that there was no evidence that pets were vulnerable to the novel coronavirus. Then scientists in Belgium and Hong Kong confirmed that they had found pet cats owned by people infected with the virus that had somehow caught it, as evidence was detected in their urine. At least pet dog has also been infected.

As CNN so aptly points out, the "weak positives" produced in tests of these animals haven't offered any reason for scientists to suspect that these animals could infect humans - only that these pets could be infected by humans, as humans were once, in turn, infected by animals.

UN chief calls for 'large-scale' coronavirus response of 10 percent of global GDP

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres this week called for a “large-scale” international response to the global coronavirus crisis, consisting of 10 percent of global GDP -- and promising that the U.N. is “fully mobilized” to support such an effort.

“What is needed is a large-scale, coordinated and comprehensive multilateral response amounting to at least 10 percent of global GDP,” he said in remarks at the launch of a report on the socioeconomic impacts of the virus.

He called for fiscal and monetary policies that would support households, give health and unemployment insurance, social protection and support to businesses. He noted that a number of developed countries can implement such policies by themselves and are doing so already. The U.S. last week passed a $2 trillion stimulus package containing a number of such measures to support households and businesses through the crisis.

COVID: here come the antibody tests—quick, easy, and insane

“The first so-called serology test, which detects antibodies to the virus rather than the virus itself, was given emergency approval Thursday by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.”

“The serology test involves taking a blood sample and determining if it contains the antibodies that fight the virus. A positive result indicates the person had the virus in the past and is currently immune.”

“Dr. Elizabeth McNally, director of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Center for Genetic Medicine…’You’ll see many of these roll out in the next couple of weeks, and it’s great, and it will really help a lot,’ said McNally, noting doctors and scientists will be able to use it to determine just how widespread the disease is, who can safely return to work and possibly how to develop new treatments for those who are ill.”

Got that? A positive test means the patient is now immune to the virus and can walk outside and go back to work.

BREAKTHROUGH? Single dose of common agricultural drug Ivermectin found to “essentially eliminate all viral material” of COVID-19 coronavirus within 48 hours

A new study published in the journal Antiviral Research finds that Ivermectin, a common agricultural drug used as a de-wormer for cats, dogs, horses and livestock — achieves a 5000-fold reduction in replication of the SARS-cov-2 “Wuhan” coronavirus.

Ivermectin is sold at agricultural supply stores and online retailers such as Amazon.com. It’s normally sold as an edible paste or a sterile solution for injection into cattle and other livestock. The drug is FDA-approved for certain treatments, although not yet FDA approved for treatment of COVID-19. We are not recommending it for human consumption until more data are available.

The study, found here, is entitled, “The FDA-approved Drug Ivermectin inhibits the replication of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro.”

Lockdown in India must be extended to 49 days to curb spread of COVID-19 coronavirus: Study

A research conducted by R Adhikari and Rajesh Singh from the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics in the University of Cambridge has claimed that the 21-day lockdown will not be enough to contain the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus in India amd the lockdown must be extended to 49 days.

Conditions:
- Study is based on the interpretation that the lockdown on March 25, removed all social contacts and confined everyone to their homes.
- They also acknowledged that this appears to be an "optimistic" interpretation but that it allows them to assess the outcome.

Researchers unearth deep-sea bacteria with metabolism unlike anything encountered before

A peculiar form of bacteria discovered on the floor of the deepest ocean layer has been found to have a strange metabolism unlike anything that has ever been encountered before.

A team of German researchers say the microorganism has the extraordinary ability to survive on organic and inorganic substances alike, without needing oxygen.

The bug, known as Acetobacterium woodii, has chosen peculiar living arrangements, making its home in hydrothermal vents and in the intestines of termites.

Its ability to create and use hydrogen and carbon dioxide to produce energy all on its own makes it unique, even among microorganisms.

‘Profound lack of human decency’: Oliver Stone tears into US govt over Iran & Venezuela sanctions amid Covid-19 crisis

The United States government has revealed its contempt for human compassion and global solidarity by refusing to lift draconian sanctions on Iran and Venezuela during the Covid-19 crisis, director Oliver Stone has argued.

Iran has suffered immensely from the virus, Stone noted in an op-ed published by the New York Daily News, but due to US sanctions the Islamic Republic is “reportedly the only country in the world that cannot buy medicines needed to fight the pandemic."

The outspoken Hollywood legend similarly condemned Washington’s decision to maintain – and in some cases, increase – its economic chokeholds on countries such as Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua as coronavirus strains healthcare systems across the globe.

COVID-19 Martial Law

COVID-19 may be novel, but the Founders of the United States of America had considerable familiarity with Martial Law.

Not only are the federal and state governments unraveling the constitutional fabric of the nation with lockdown mandates that are sending the economy into a tailspin and wreaking havoc with our liberties, but they are also rendering the citizenry fully dependent on the government for financial handouts, medical intervention, protection and sustenance.

Unless we find some way to rein in the government’s power grabs, the fall-out will be epic.

Politico also noted that the DOJ’s controversial new requests “span several stages of the legal process, from initial arrest to how cases are processed and investigated.”

Letters to the Editor - People will die if doctors have to wait for double-blind studies before prescribing chloroquine for coronavirus

I totally disagree with Dr. Michael Kirsch in his April 1 op-ed, “Chloroquine to help combat COVID-19? Not for this doctor.” How many lives can we save if we start using these drugs immediately? These drugs have proven successful in treating this virus. The unofficial statistics show a great success rate, yet we continue to hold off because we are awaiting “official double-blind studies,” which may take weeks if not months – time we cannot afford to waste! Some doctors are prescribing it for themselves. The drug has been around long enough that we know the side affects and, if monitored by doctors, can be properly watched.

Dr. Kirsch is comfortable advocating no treatment – I’m not. Dr. Kirsch mentions shark cartilage treatment, heartburn medicines, and made-up stories about avocados. What type of spin is this?

I Cry For Our Country ...A Baby Boomer's Lament

At this point in our country's history, with this Covid pandemic knocking on all our doors 24/7, I find myself contemplating life, our country's future, our children's future and the rest of humanity. This crisis proves itself beyond anything I've seen in my 73 years of living.

As a baby boomer, I've lived a wonderful life. By dumb luck, I lived through the Vietnam War. I haven't died of a heart attack. I made a reasonable living as a teacher and truck driver my entire life. I explored the world on my bicycle. I'm happily married.

But as I look back on my life, and this country's history since 1950, I can't help but wring my hands and wonder what happened to the United States? What happened to our integrity as a constitutional- republic?

COVID-19 Depression: Trump Needs a War

A dystopian nightmare for millions spreads across the land.

It is seriously astounding how fast the economy is crumbling. No infusion of funny money will save the American people from the historically severe depression now evolving.

State and federal governments are becoming more authoritarian in response to serious influenza (critical data on the transmission of the disease is absent, muddled, contradictory, and the corporate media feeds a frenzy of fear and paranoia based on conflicting, revised, and often speculative numbers).

Critical supply lines foolishly based on the globalist profit-maximizing concept of “just in time” are now breaking down.

Facts about Covid-19

According to the latest data of the Italian National Health Institute ISS, the average age of the positively-tested deceased in Italy is currently about 81 years. 10% of the deceased are over 90 years old. 90% of the deceased are over 70 years old.

80% of the deceased had suffered from two or more chronic diseases. 50% of the deceased had suffered from three or more chronic diseases. The chronic diseases include in particular cardiovascular problems, diabetes, respiratory problems and cancer.

The younger test-positive deceased almost always had severe pre-existing conditions. For example, a 21-year-old Spanish soccer coach had died test-positive, making international headlines. However, the doctors diagnosed an unrecognized leukemia, whose typical complications include severe pneumonia.

Manufactured Pandemic: Testing People for Any Strain of a Coronavirus, Not Specifically for COVID-19

I work in the healthcare field. Here’s the problem, we are testing people for any strain of a Coronavirus. Not specifically for COVID-19. There are no reliable tests for a specific COVID-19 virus. There are no reliable agencies or media outlets for reporting numbers of actual COVID-19 virus cases. This needs to be addressed first and foremost. Every action and reaction to COVID-19 is based on totally flawed data and we simply can not make accurate assessments.

Hospital data is published all the time, so Sweden’s “experiment” is being conducted in the open. Every time a patient is admitted, the data is updated on a Covid live website in striking detail. Sweden is also updating its statistics to say if someone died from Covid, or of something else – but with Covid. This might reduce the “death” figure by two thirds.

Trump and the Media Collude to Destroy American Liberty Using Coronavirus as their Pretext

Due to their complete collapse into a state of fear and panic, most Americans seem oblivious to the fact that we are right now—RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE—living in what could easily be the last days of freedom. It happened in less than 30 days—and it is happening due to mass hyperbole and media manipulation.

No, I am not saying that the coronavirus is not real. Neither am I saying that people have not died from the virus. But I am saying that the fear-mongering over the claim that corona has the potential to be a global pandemic akin to the Black Death is pure, unadulterated poppycock. Make no mistake about it: This is a planned event. The globalists—that the entire evangelical Christian and conservative Republican world kept telling us for the last three years that Donald Trump had on the run—are actually stronger than ever and have chosen this White House and this moment to launch an all-out attack against our Constitution, Bill of Rights and the Laws of Nature.

"Don't Nag Your Husband, Wear Makeup" During Lockdown, Malaysian Government Tells Women

The World Health Organization (WHO) expects COVID-19 cases and deaths in Malaysia to peak in mid-April as there are some signs of curve flattening. There are 3,116 confirmed cases and 50 deaths in the Southeast Asian country, by far, the most in the region. The country has imposed a travel ban, along with an extension of a nationwide lockdown through April 14.

During nationwide lockdowns, many countries around the world have put their unique spin on it. For example, Panama, on Wednesday, said men and women will only be allowed to leave their homes for two hours at a time, and on different days.

As for Malaysia, the Ministry for Women, Family and Community Development has requested that women do not nag their husbands during the lockdown, reported NPR.

Here's How You Can 3D-Print Masks At Home

For anyone who didn't heed our warning about purchasing 3M N95 masks in January/February – here's another option: You can now 3D-print masks at home thanks to the medical students and engineers of Rowan University.

"Rowan University engineering and medical students have developed a prototype for a durable, lightweight, reusable face mask to augment the supply of face masks during the current shortage of PPE during the COVID-19 outbreak. The mask is provided "as-is" and primarily acts as a mechanical barrier. It is not a replacement for N95 masks.

Developed in collaboration with medical professionals, the mask prototype may serve in clinical and field use. If printed, used and maintained correctly, the mask provides a durable, reusable mechanical barrier," read the Rowan University website.

Here's Every Vaccine And Treatment In Development For COVID-19, So Far

As the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases continues to skyrocket, healthcare researchers around the world are working tirelessly to discover new life-saving medical innovations.

As Visual Capitalist's Nick Routley notes, the projects these companies are working on can be organized into three distinct groups:

Diagnostics: Quickly and effectively detecting the disease in the first place

Treatments: Alleviating symptoms so people who have disease experience milder symptoms, and lowering the overall mortality rate

Vaccines: Preventing transmission by making the population immune to COVID-19

Today’s graphics provide an in-depth look at who’s in the innovation race to defeat the virus, and they come to us courtesy of Artis Ventures, a venture capital firm focused on life sciences and tech investments.

America braces for its next hotspots as 1,084 die in a day, taking total past 7,100

Michigan, Louisiana and Georgia are expected to become the next coronavirus hot spots in the United States - as the death toll rose by 929 in one day, bringing the total past 7,000, and the number of infections across the country hit 272,000.

Those states could be the next hot spots based on the current rate of deaths and positive coronavirus tests across the country, according to the White House COVID-19 task force coordinator Dr Deborah Birx.

Meanwhile, the proportion of tests coming back positive in states like Indiana, Illinois and Connecticut are now also ringing alarm bells for health officials.

In terms of current hot spots, New York continues to bear the brunt as the epicenter of the outbreak in the US with more than 100,000 infections and 2,935 deaths.
