Five hundred tourists are among 5,500 evacuated as eight rivers of lava spew from La Palma volcano swallowing 'hundreds' of homes as experts warn eruption could last for TWO MONTHS

Hundreds of tourists are among 5,500 people evacuated from hotels and houses on the Spanish resort island of La Palma following a volcanic eruption that has sent eight rivers of lava flowing into nearby villages.

Around 100 homes have already been destroyed by streams of molten rock spewing from Mount Cumbre Vieja, mayor Mariano Hernandez said today, as experts warned the eruption could last up to two months.
