TN county sees hundreds of breakthrough COVID-19 cases, two deaths: Report

A Tennessee county is seeing hundreds of breakthrough COVID-19 cases and a doctor says in two of those cases, people have died.

Tennessee Department of Health reported more than 1,000 "breakthrough" cases, meaning cases in which fully vaccinated people have contracted the virus. Of those cases, 27 people have died.

Shelby County currently has 458 breakthrough COVID-19 cases, according to FOX 13 in Memphis.

Dr. Bruce Randolph says of those cases, 30 are due to the Delta variant and "we’ve had two deaths as result to the breakthrough cases."
