US Imperialism’s Decomposition Accelerates: Outsourcing ‘Regime Change’. Mercenary Incursions into Venezuela

On May 3rd a bunch of mercenaries, led by Rambo-like US soldiers of fortune attempted to disembark on the coastal town of Macuto in the La Guaira state in Venezuela’s Caribbean coast, in a so-called Operation Gedeon.

Their leader, ‘contractor’ Jordan Goudreau, CEO of US ‘security company’, SilverCorp, in interview with Miami-based extreme right wing Venezuelan opposition journalist, Patricia Poleo, candidly explained that the aim of their military incursion against the South American nation was to attack the presidential palace so as to overthrow the government of President Nicolas Maduro and install a de facto Guaidó-led government. Goudreau claimed to have deployed a mercenary force of 300 to carry out the military ‘mission’.

Revealed: Secretive British Unit Planning for ‘Reconstruction’ of Venezuela

Documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act have exposed a secretive Foreign Office unit aimed at the ‘reconstruction’ of Venezuela. The files also reveal private discussions between Venezuelan opposition figures and UK officials, detailing proposals for the promotion of British business after a planned coup.

UK support for coup attempt in Venezuela

Over the past 16 months, the UK government has consistently supported Venezuelan opposition figure Juan Guaidó’s attempts to topple the elected government of president Nicolás Maduro.

In late January 2019, for example, the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) urged the Bank of England to grant Guaidó access to £1.2bn of Venezuelan gold reserves.

The Department for International Development (DFID) has also pledged some £40m of ‘humanitarian assistance’ to Venezuela, but it has refused to reveal where this assistance is going.

On Thursday, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza summoned the UK’s top diplomat in the country “to present a formal protest and demand explanations” for the creation of a “Venezuela Reconstruction Unit” in the British Embassy.

“We summon the Charge d'Affaires of the United Kingdom to present a formal protest and demand explanations for the creation in his Chancellery of a Unit for the Reconstruction of Venezuela,” Arreaza said in a Twitter post on Thursday, accusing UK Deputy Ambassador to Venezuela Duncan Hill of trying to “justify the unjustifiable.”

We are concerned that the United States will use the imprisonment of the two former US special forces soldiers as an excuse to invade Venezuela to rescue them.

May 12 03:58

The latest chapter in the ongoing effort to overthrow the Venezuelan government reads like a bad spy thriller: a group of mercenaries piloted speedboats from Colombia to Venezuela; half of them were killed or captured by Venezuelan security forces immediately upon landing, while the other half – apparently delayed by mechanical issues with their boat – surrendered to local police and militia the next day. Thirty-nine attackers have been captured so far, including two Americans, both former special forces soldiers. Their plan was to capture or kill high-value targets, including Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Instead, it failed miserably and raised more concerns about the leadership of opposition figure Juan Guaidó.

Guaidó’s Insidious Contract

Webmaster's Commentary:

As Ron White was fond of saying in his stand-up routine, "You can't fix stupid"; and anyone with more than 2 brain cells circulating in their heads within spitting distance of whoever in this administration signed off on this insanity, HAD to understand that Maduro's security has become increasingly sophisticated in their understanding of how these efforts are supposed to work.

Through a statement, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Hua Chunying, stressed again this Wednesday her rejection of the United States’ aggression against Venezuela and has emphasized that Beijing will not accept any US invasion plan in the South American country.

“We reject the violation of the sovereignty of Venezuela by any means or excuse, in addition, we call to prioritize the welfare of the people, work together to safeguard national stability and promote the peaceful resolution of the situation in the Caribbean country,” stressed the spokeswoman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

China, reads the note, has always been in favor of respecting the Charter of the United Nations (UN) and the basic rules that govern international relations against the policies of hostility of the United States towards the Maduro government." Three Colombian Army Boats With Ammunition on Board Found by Venezuela After Failed Invasion

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro claimed that Colombia supported the failed seaborne invasion into Venezuela in a joint act with the US - something that Bogota and Washington have denied, slamming the accusation as an effort to drive attention away from the "internal crisis" in Caracas and the rest of the nation.

Venezuelan military forces announced the discovery of three abandoned light combat boats "identified with emblems of the Colombian Navy" on Saturday, according to a Defence Ministry statement.

The boats were discovered during a patrol of the Orinoco river by the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) conducted as part of an operation to ensure Venezuela's "freedom and sovereignty". Venezuelan military forces did not find any crew, but discovered ammunition and weapons still on board.

Argentina Teeters on Default, Again, as Pandemic Guts Economy

Argentina is hurtling toward default on international loans in two weeks, a prospect that threatens to revive its reputation as a serial deadbeat and global financial pariah that could haunt the Latin American country long after the coronavirus pandemic is over.

If Argentina defaults, which as of Friday appeared likely, it would be the third time in two decades that the country has failed to meet loan payments after having amassed billions of dollars in foreign debt in a deepening spiral of economic dysfunction. Argentina’s 45 million people already were suffering through the third year of a serious downturn when the coronavirus scourge hit, accelerating the economic pain by forcing a lockdown that closed many businesses and left workers jobless.

The Hybrid War on Venezuela Moves to a New Stage of Aggression

In the early morning of last May 3 Venezuela has witnessed the first attempt of a raid by speedboats with armed mercenary forces on the central coast of Venezuela, just a few kilometres from the capital city, Caracas. The response by the Venezuelan armed forces and the almost continuous updates about the action including photos and videos were quick.

Just a couple of hours later, while the defensive operation was still underway, Venezuela’s Minister of Interior Nestor Reverol issued an initial statement,

“A group of terrorist mercenaries attempted a maritime invasion, entering Venezuela with speedboats via the coast of La Guaira. Their aim was to assassinate leaders of the Bolivarian Revolution and carry out a coup.”

The suggestion that the raid – already a grave act of aggression – had such menacing consequences was not farfetched, given past attempts to overthrow the Maduro government, including attempted assassinations.

Mercenary Confesses Failed Plot Was to Bring President Maduro to US

Former United States ex-green beret Luke Denman, that was captured Monday by Venezuela’s Armed Forces, confessed Wednesday that his group aimed at kidnapping President Nicolas Maduro as part of ‘Operation Gedeon’.

“I was expecting anywhere between US$50,000 to US$100,000,” Denman admitted, confessing he arrived in Colombia on Jan. 16 in Rioacha in order to train Venezuelan deserters.

While Maduro said there is no doubt that Colombia’s President Ivan Duque was involved in the military incursion that U.S. mercenaries attempted to accomplish on Sunday.

He also confirmed that Duque ordered the expulsion from his country of people involved in acts of destabilization in Venezuela

“Juvenal Sequea, Hernan Aleman, and Alexander Russo -the one who armed the drone to kill me- are now in Bogota. Ivan Duque will expel them because he wants nothing to do with those who failed,” the Venezuelan leader said at a press conference from Caracas.

Captured Mercenary Admits Plans to Kidnap Venezuela's Maduro, Take Him to US on Plane

The Venezuelan military thwarted an attempted naval invasion by heavily-armed mercenaries coming from Colombia on Sunday morning, neutralizing multiple fighters and capturing at least two US nationals among them. More mercenaries have surrendered in the days since.

Venezuelan television has broadcast footage of the confession of Silvercorp USA mercenary Luke Alexander Denman, one of the US citizens captured in the aftermath of Sunday's botched raid. According to the mercenary, the plan was to kidnap Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, get him on a plane and take him back to the United States for prosecution.

Speaking to his interrogator, Denman explained that the mission was "to meet Venezuelans in Colombia, train them and come with them to Venezuela to secure Caracas and secure an airport here for follow-on."

"The instructions that I received...was to ensure that we took control of the airport for safe passage of Maduro," he says later in the interview.

Venezuela Reports Attempted Naval Invasion by Mercenaries From Colombia

Venezuela and Colombia have had strained relations for years, with Caracas accusing Bogota of financing and otherwise supporting political forces seeking to overthrow the Maduro government.

The Venezuelan armed forces and police have thwarted an attempted naval invasion by mercenaries attempting to enter the country by sea from neighbouring Colombia, Venezuelan Interior Minister Nestor Reverol has announced.

“We would like to inform and denounce to the national and international community that early this morning, May 3, 2020, a group of terrorist mercenaries coming from Colombia attempted a sea invasion, with the objective to commit terrorist attacks in our country, assassinate leaders of the revolutionary government and to increase the spiral of violence, generate chaos and confusion among the population, and with this, to attempt a new coup d’état,” Reverol said, speaking on Venezuelan television Sunday morning.

May 04 01:42

Venezuela's government has said it foiled a marine incursion by "terrorist mercenaries" who attempted to enter the country on speedboats from neighbouring Colombia, adding security forces killed eight of the fighters.

The group landed early on Sunday on a beach in the port city of La Guaira, about 20 miles (32km) from the capital Caracas, Interior Minister Nestor Reverol said in a televised address.

"They tried to carry out an invasion by sea, a group of terrorist mercenaries from Colombia, in order to commit terrorist acts in the country, murdering leaders of the revolutionary government," he said.

Socialist Party leader Diosdado Cabello said eight people were killed and two were detained.

"We have deactivated an attempted incursion of our territory, thanks to intelligence efforts," Cabello told reporters.

Pompeo Demands Countries Block Airspace To Iran's 'Terrorist Airline' After Venezuela Deliveries

The US is going on the offensive once again against Venezuela, this time attempting to break up growing Iranian cooperation and assistance to Caracas. The two so-called 'rogue states' recently targeted for US-imposed regime change are helping each other fight coronavirus as well as Washington-led sanctions. Specifically Tehran has ramped up cargo deliveries related getting Venezuela's derelict oil refineries fully operational.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in new statements has called on international allies to block airspace specifically for Iran's Mahan Air, currently under US sanctions, and which has in recent days delivered cargoes of "unknown support" to the Venezuelan government, according to Pompeo's words.

Late last week it was revealed Venezuela received a huge boost in the form of oil refinery materials and chemicals to fix the catalytic cracking unit at the 310,000 barrels-per-day Cardon refinery, essential to the nation's gas production.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Oh holy crud, is Pompeo attempting to pull another "Libya" toward Iran and Venezuela?!?

Please remember what was done here, and why:

Military intervention in Libya

The Wikipedia article goes on to state: "On 19 March 2011, a multi-state NATO-led coalition began a military intervention in Libya, ostensibly to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973, in response to events during the Libyan Civil War. The United Nations' intent and voting was to have "an immediate ceasefire in Libya, including an end to the current attacks against civilians, which it said might constitute crimes against humanity ... imposing a ban on all flights in the country's airspace – a no-fly zone – and tightened sanctions on the [Muammar] Gaddafi regime and its supporters."[26]

American and British naval forces fired over 110 Tomahawk cruise missiles,[27] whereas the French Air Force, British Royal Air Force, and Royal Canadian Air Force[28] undertook sorties across Libya and a naval blockade by Coalition forces.[29] French jets launched air strikes against Libyan Army tanks and vehicles.[30][31] The intervention did not employ foreign ground troops.[32]

The Libyan government response to the campaign was totally ineffectual, with Gaddafi's forces not managing to shoot down a single NATO plane despite the country possessing 30 heavy SAM batteries, 17 medium SAM batteries, 55 light SAM batteries (a total of 400–450 launchers, including 130–150 2K12 Kub launchers and some 9K33 Osa launchers), and 440–600 short-ranged air-defense guns.[14][33] The official names for the interventions by the coalition members are Opération Harmattan by France; Operation Ellamy by the United Kingdom; Operation Mobile for the Canadian participation and Operation Odyssey Dawn for the United States.[34] Italy initially opposed the intervention but then offered to take part in the operations on the condition that NATO took the leadership of the mission instead of individual countries (particularly France). As this condition was later met, Italy shared its bases and intelligence with the allies.[35]"

I would like to remind you of the very sober, and thoroughly terrifying, observation, that those who do not understand history... are doomed to repeat it.

Libya lies in ruins today, still suffering from the horrifically violent upheaval of a civil war which has raged across the country from this military intervention in 2011, well into today, in April of 2020, making it 9 years of civil war.

Can NATO be talked into such a monstrous reality yet again, and if so, could they be demanded/cajoled by Pompeo, in creating another "no-fly", coupled with a "No Sail" zone over Iran and the Persian Gulf, while the OAS is also cajoled/commanded to do the same thing to Venezuela? and if so, how would they enforce it?!?

Please remember: Venezuela left the OAS in April of last year, Venezuela leaves OAS, Claiming that President Trump "Runs Over Member States."

And how will Russia react, if such a thing happens?!?

Remember, Russia assured Iran last year, that if the US attacks it, Iran will not be alone, if the US attacks.

Folks, we are about to be introduced to an alleged, new "Axis of Evil"; I would encourage you to examine those claims before you "jump on the bandwagon here and say, "HELL, yes, let's go to war with Venezuela and Iran, they are colluding like twin halves of an evil empire!!".

Venezuela may not be very useful in a long-term, geopolitical firefight, but Iran is, and would be; Russia's strategy, would then probably be to attempt to make any potential US invasion of Iran draw quick and immediate parallels with the horrific, ultimate ending of the war against Vietnam, in which the US government and military just got "ground down."

The longer I live, the more I understand that both the US government and military, seem to have very difficult challenges in learning from their mistakes; I wish I could see this as being otherwise, but 20th and 21st US history and logic, forbid me from seeing the facts this way.

"Driving The Gringos In The White House Crazy": Iran & Venezuela Deepen Sanctions-Busting Cooperation

Two so-called 'rogue states' recently targeted for US-imposed regime change are helping each other fight coronavirus as well as Washington-led sanctions.

Late last week it was revealed Venezuela received a huge boost in the form of oil refinery materials and chemicals to fix the catalytic cracking unit at the 310,000 barrels-per-day Cardon refinery, essential to the nation's gas supply.

This as a fuel and food shortage crisis has driven protests and clashes with police, especially in hard-hit rural areas, over the past month.

“Thanks to the support of our allies in the Islamic Republic of Iran... We will overcome our difficulties,” Erling Rojas, vice minister for refining and petrochemicals in Venezuela’s Oil Ministry, stated when the much-needed refinery parts arrived last Thursday.

He further underscored in colorfully provocative rhetoric that Iran’s support is “driving the gringos in the White House crazy.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

What did the Trump administration think, that both governments were going to roll over and play dead, as their responses to these sanctions?!?

I am very much reminded of a one-liner from the American comedian Ron White, which is: "You can't fix stupid!"

And unfortunately, the "stupid" when it comes to Iran, is that President Trump, and his cabinet, are, collectively, pathologically incapable of seeing Iran, except through the jaundiced eyes, and equally jaundiced perception, of one of his BFFs in the Middle East, Israel's Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu.

The other bit of "stupid" comes from ignoring a statement made by one of Putin's confidantes a year ago last summer to their Iranian counterparts at a summit last summer: Iran will not be alone, if the US attacks.

The statement was made by Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow\ last Summer, and reported by the Moscow Times.

There is one thing of which I am very certain; Kabulov would never have made the statement without Putin's absolute backing: if the US government attacks Iran, we will most probably be facing Russian military in Iran as well.

And Putin will move heaven and earth to insure that any US invasion of Iran.... will have precisely the same outcome as did the US invasion of Vietnam.

Pentagon Pressures Mexico To Reopen Factories Vital To Making US Weapons

It apparently took a global pandemic and corresponding economic shutdown of entire nations' economies for the American public to realize that surprisingly, the US military relies heavily for supplies involved in weapons systems manufacturing just south of the border.

US Continues to Push for Regime Change in Venezuela

Suggestions that the US could somehow take advantage of the coronavirus pandemic to finally secure a regime change in Venezuela were originally Juan Guaido’s idea. But the US quickly offered a revised proposal where Guaido and Maduro both stepped aside in favor of a new pro-US regime,

Over a week in, there are no signs of any takers, but the US is still sticking with that plan with Elliott Abrams saying that the US is determined to push ahead the “Democratic Transition Framework for Venezuela” plan.

The US declared a regime change in early 2019, announcing that Maduro is no longer president but Guaido is. After a solid year of getting the international community to accept this, however, Guaido seems no more likely now to take power, and the “transition” plan suggests the US goal is ousting Maduro more than it is propping up Guaido.

Venezuela’s Maduro pens open letter to Americans

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has released a letter addressed to the American people urging them to prevent what he calls the madness that drives the government of President Donald Trump.

In the letter, Maduro says Trump seems determined to fulfill his threats of a military invasion against the Latin American country. Maduro stated that the country cannot accept war threats, nor the intention to install an international guardianship that would violate the country’s sovereignty.

The Venezuelan leader also demanded an end to the illegal sanctions and blockade by the US, which have impeded the import of humanitarian goods to fight the coronavirus outbreak in the country. Maduro said Trump must by no means be allowed to "lead the US into another conflict, like in Vietnam, or Iraq."

Webmaster's Commentary:

People in Caracas, including President Maduro, actually believe that Americans will have the opportunity to read this letter, and respond to it intelligently and humanely, asking their government to do the same.

However, unless one reads the English language version of;;;;;;; or, ultimately, WRH, one is not going to know that such an open letter from Maduro's even exists.

IF one looks at; the; or, you will see nothing of this appeal by Maduro; it is as though it never existed.

So I, as an American citizen, who very much cares about her country's future, am compelled to ask the current Trump Administration; please, with regard to both Iran and Venezuela, loosen some of the worst embargo strictures on these pandemic-hit countries, and show yourselves as the international humanitarians you claim to be.

President Trump, I would politely suggest that the world is watching your actions right now, even over and above anything you might say.

US Sends Military Ships to Disrupt Drug Cartels, Choke Maduro Regime

The US sent powerful warships, spy planes, and thousands of US troops to the Sea Caribbean this past week.

In addition, President Trump seeks to reduce the financial support for drug trafficking that provides the corrupt Maduro socialist regime.

Webmaster's Commentary:

And if you believe this is about the drug traffic, I have some of Saddam's nuclear weapons to sell you!

US Navy Expands Presence Near Venezuela

Following up on a $15 million bounty the US has placed on the head of Venezuela’s President Maduro, the Pentagon announced a substantial buildup of naval assets in the Caribbean, with a lot of the ships parked off the Venezuelan coast.

This is not unrelated to US hostility toward Maduro. Officially, the Pentagon says the ships are to engage in “counter-narcotics” operations, but they’ve also said that part of the goal is to cut off Maduro’s funds and increase pressure on him.

More military pressure is one thing, but the serious concern is an outright US invasion of Venezuela to try to impose regime change, mirroring the 1989 invasion of Panama to oust Manuel Noriega. That invasion was done on the pretext of the drug war, and with the blessing of Attorney General William Barr, who also provided the legal basis for the Maduro bounty.

Venezuelan President Maduro Orders Mobilisation of Artillery Amid Tensions With US

On Tuesday, Nicolas Maduro addressed the leaders of governments across the world to request their assistance amid US attempts to arrest him over accusations of drug trafficking, which he has slammed as "false" and not based on any evidence.

Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro tweeted on Saturday that he had “ordered the mobilisation of artillery [pieces]” in the country’s strategic areas in order to protect the security of ordinary Venezuelans.

“I denounce the existence of groups financed from Colombia and the US, which seek to undermine the stability of [our] homeland with violent actions”, he wrote on his Twitter page.

Low oil prices exacerbating coronavirus outbreak in Venezuela

Venezuela’s economy is facing new challenges, as the oil prices have hit record lows in the past days, dropping to as low as 18 dollars per barrel.

The oil price war between Saudi Arabia and Russia is starting to impact the Latin American nation which collects 90 percent of its income through its oil exports.

The country is now bracing for yet another crisis. The coronavirus pandemic which has been spreading around the world like wildfire has found its way into Venezuela.

On top of all these are the US sanctions against Caracas, aimed at toppling the administration of President Nicolas Maduro, which have adversely affected the country’s economy.

US to Venezuela: ‘We'll stop killing you if you do what we tell you to do’

American human rights expert and peace activist says the United States is basically telling Venezuela, “We'll stop killing you, we’ll stop sanctioning you during a pandemic if you do what we tell you to do in terms of having new elections.”

Daniel Kovalik, who teaches international human rights at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in the state of Pennsylvania, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV Thursday after Venezuela rejected a scheme devised by the United States that envisages the removal of sanctions on the country if the elected government in Caracas steps down.

“The Bolivarian government reiterates that Venezuela does not accept, nor will it ever accept any tutelage, from any foreign government,” Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said in a Twitter post on Tuesday, shortly after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo presented the scheme.

Venezuelan warship shoots, rams into German cruise vessel before sinking

A Venezuelan navy ship fired shots at a German-owned cruise ship on March 30 and rammed into the passenger vessel, leading to the sinking of the warship in the Caribbean.

The Iranian regime-allied Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro accused the captain of the RCGS RESOLUTE cruise ship of “terrorism and piracy" and sought to force the ship into a new direction on the high seas. The cruise ship, which had no passengers on board and was sailing under a Portuguese flag, has a reinforced hull that enables it to sail through ice water.

Coup plan B! US tells Guaido he may renounce his Venezuela ‘presidency’ claim – but they’ll still support him

The US State Department magnanimously agreed that opposition politician Juan Guaido may not actually be president of Venezuela, but insisted he still has to be part of a transition government if Caracas wants sanctions relief.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo put forth a “democratic transition framework” on Tuesday, under which Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro would set up a power-sharing interim government with Guaido, that would arrange for elections in six months to a year.

According to Pompeo, the proposal “protects the interests and equities of all Venezuelan people who desperately seek a resolution to their dire political, economic and humanitarian crisis,” and he urged all sides to “carefully and seriously” consider it.

Beyond Chutzpah: the Hypocrisy of US Nacroterrorism Charges Against Venezuela

This latest escalation of the US hybrid war against Venezuela takes place amid a global pandemic, which the US apparently sees as an opportunity to further attack a people made more vulnerable by the health crisis.

William Barr Greenlit Bush’s Invasion of Panama, Is Venezuela Next?

The US Justice Department unsealed an indictment on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and other government officials last week, accusing them of "narco-terrorism." The move is reminiscent of the 1988 indictment of former CIA asset and Panamanian leader Manuel Noriega. The Noriega indictment resulted in a US invasion of Panama that left hundreds – possibly thousands – of dead civilians in its wake. Attorney General William Barr took to the podium to announce Maduro’s indictment. Barr happens to be the same person who gave the first Bush administration the legal justification to invade Panama just over 30 years ago.

Barr first worked in the DOJ in 1989 when George H. W. Bush appointed him as head of the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC). Bush and Barr had some history together. The two first crossed paths in 1976 when Bush was head of the CIA, and Barr served as a congressional liaison for the agency. At the time, Manuel Noriega was also on the CIA’s payroll.

Webmaster's Commentary:

There is another, very disturbing story regarding Venezuela which broke over the weekend.

Rosneft Hands Venezuelan Oil Business to Russian State Firm

The article goes on to state: "Russia's Rosneft has transferred its assets in Venezuela to a company fully owned by Vladimir Putin's government, a move apparently intended to shield Russia's largest oil producer from U.S. sanctions while Moscow continues showing support for Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in the wake of a U.S. narcotics indictment."

So one has to wonder: with the chaos, confusion, and pain, caused by both Covid 19, and US governmental response to it, are we looking at a Venezuelan "Coup-Coup Ca-CHOO!" coming forward very shortly?!?

This may well be confirmed by an article from, with the following title: USA Activates New Phase of Violence and Coup d’état Against Venezuela, by the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela, in response to the US accusing Maduro of "narcotrafficking yesterday.

Timing on something like this move, is rarely...coincidental.

Rosneft Abruptly Exits Venezuela, Sells Assets To Russian State, Amid US Squeeze On Maduro

In the past weeks the Kremlin has shown it's willing to punch back as well as take drastic necessary defensive action in the face of Washington sanctions at a moment America is preoccupied and made more vulnerable by the coronavirus threat — first by dumping OPEC+ and MbS, effectively declaring war on US shale — and now by taking aggressive measures to insulate Russia's state-controlled Rosneft.

On Saturday Rosneft announced it has sold off all its Venezuelan oil assets to an unnamed Russian state entity. "The government of the Russian Federation has acquired assets in Venezuela from Rosneft. A company 100% owned by the Russian Federation has become the owner," Russia's TASS said.

Ex-Venezuelan General Indicted in Narco-Terrorism Case Surrenders to DEA Agents - Reports

A former Venezuelan general has surrendered to the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) just a day after being indicted by US federal prosecutors and having a $10 million reward posted for his capture.

On Friday, Clíver Antonio Alcalá Cordones, a former major general of the Venezuelan Army, surrendered to Colombia's National Intelligence Directorate in Bogota and is now in the custody of the US DEA, El Tiempo reported, citing unnamed sources.

Alcalá left his position in Venezuela's armed forces in 2013. US federal prosecutors alleged he had been "a leader and manager of the Cartel of the Suns," a supposed drug smuggling ring inside the Venezuelan government the US government has claimed makes leading Venezuelan officials "narco-terrorists." Alongside 13 other Venezuelans, Alcalá was indicted in the Southern District Court of New York on Thursday on narco-terrorism charges and the State Department placed a $10 million bounty on his head.

Venezuela’s Coronavirus Response Might Surprise You

Within a few hours of being launched, over 800 Venezuelans in the U.S. registered for an emergency flight from Miami to Caracas through a website run by the Venezuelan government. This flight, offered at no cost, was proposed by President Nicolás Maduro when he learned that 200 Venezuelans were stuck in the United States following his government’s decision to stop commercial flights as a preventative coronavirus measure. The promise of one flight expanded to two or more flights, as it became clear that many Venezuelans in the U.S. wanted to go back to Venezuela, yet the situation remains unresolved due to the U.S. ban on flights to and from the country.

The IMF Abandons Venezuelans to the Threat of the COVID-19 Pandemic on a Political Decision

No government that had to bow to the power of a financial institution like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) knows the harsh consequences to which it will have to submit. That includes the Venezuelan government. And yet last March 15 president Nicolas Maduro filed a formal request to the IMF for a financing facility of US$5 billion from the emergency fund of the Rapid Financing Instrument (RFI) with the following words in a letter sent to the IMF director Kristalina Georgieva and that Arreaza published on his Twitter account:

“Only under the spirit of solidarity, brotherhood, and social discipline, we will be able to overcome the situation that comes our way, and we will know how to protect the life and wellbeing of our peoples.”

US House Rams Through Nicaragua Regime-Change Bill with Zero Opposition

Ben Norton reports on the passage of a bipartisan bill that further intensifies the U.S. attack on the Ortega government and received no coverage in the English-language corporate media.

As the Trump administration’s year-long coup attempt against Venezuela spirals out in failure, the U.S. government has taken aim at Nicaragua with increasing ferocity, in a bid to topple its democratically elected, leftist Sandinista government.

Washington’s pressure escalated further on March 9 when the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bipartisan resolution in a voice vote without any opposition that demanded more sanctions and aggressive actions against the Nicaraguan government of President Daniel Ortega.

This bill — which received no coverage in the English-language corporate media — refers to Nicaragua’s elected government as the “Ortega regime,” echoing the bellicose rhetoric of the right-wing opposition.

Webmaster's Commentary:

It is apparent to any thinking American with more than 2 brain cells to rub together, that the criminal proclivities of this country know no boundaries, and unfortunately, the current actions against Nicaragua, are only the tip of a very dirty geopolitical iceberg.

Fire Destroys Most Voting Machines in Venezuela’s Capital

Venezuela’s elections council said on Sunday that a fire over the weekend destroyed most of the voting machines stored in its main warehouse in the capital, Caracas, potentially complicating parliamentary elections scheduled for this year.

Nearly 50,000 voting machines and almost 600 computers went up in flames as a result of the fire that broke out on Saturday, said elections council chief Tibisay Lucena.

“There was little that could be rescued,” Lucena said in a statement broadcast on state television.

“If there are small groups (of people) who think that this will end our constitutionally established electoral processes, they are very wrong.”

Venezuela Responds with Principled Conviction to the US’ Desperate Attempts at Regime Change

The continued effort to overthrow President Maduro does not seem to produce the intended results for the perpetrators, but rather sends signals of desperation. The regime change plotters may be wishing to achieve what they did in Bolivia. But that is not likely to happen anytime soon. That must cause some political frustration in Washington and of course more resistance in Caracas.

President Trump authorized new travel restrictions and warnings Saturday – and said he’s even looking at closing the southern border – in response to the coronavirus outbreak that has claimed the first American life, while assuring the nation at an all-hands-on-deck press conference there’s “no reason to panic.”

Trump announced new strict travel "edicts" affecting Iran, Italy and South Korea and Trump confirmed he's looking to potentially tighten the U.S.-Mexico border.

"Yes, we are thinking about [the] southern border, we have received a lot of power on the southern border over the last couple of years from the courts but we are looking at that very strongly," Trump said at a press conference.

The rare appearance in the White House press briefing room came shortly after news of the first death in the United States from the new virus and a terrible week on the stock market over fears of the outbreak.

Webmaster's Commentary:

What he is talking about doing is absolutely reasonable, given where clusters of the disease are cropping up; and yes, including the Southern Border closure makes sense; but my question is, until there is a viable vaccine, will it be enough?!?

For me, the jury is out on that one; please observe the standard protocols, like frequent hand washing.

But for people living in a "hot zone", where a number of these cases have been diagnosed, you may want to research, and get, some colloidal silver; some probiotics (because much of human immunity comes from our gut 8 health benefits of probiotics); and some Vitamin C, to assist your immune system in protecting you from getting ill, as much as might be possible.
