Baltimore HS Student Who Passed Only Three Courses in Four Years Ranks in Top Half of His Class

A high school student in Baltimore passed three courses in the last four years. He has a 0.13-grade point average but has the distinction of being at the top of his class.

This is not his failure. The people who have been paid to teach him should hang their heads in shame.

L.A. Teachers Union Pushes Back on Plan For Reopening Schools Due To ‘Structural Racism’ (VIDEO)

The UTLA (United Teachers of Los Angeles), the largest and most powerful teachers union in California, rejected Governor Gavin Newsome’s school reopening plan. Its leaders labeled it a “recipe for propagating structural racism.”

The plan was announced by Newsom and his Democrat supermajority in the state legislature. It provides $6.6 billion in taxpayer funding to accelerate the school reopening process while coronavirus cases drop.

“$2 billion would fund safety measures to support in-person instruction, such as personal protective equipment, ventilation upgrades, and COVID-19 testing. $4.6 billion would fund expanded learning opportunities, such as summer school, tutoring, and mental health services,” the governor’s office press release said.

After Leading School Closures, Berkeley Teachers' Union President Spotted Dropping Daughter Off at In-Person Preschool

Parent groups are crying "hypocrisy" after a video surfaced showing the president of the Berkeley teachers union dropping off his two-year-old daughter at an in-person preschool.

Matt Meyer, president of the Berkeley Federation of Teachers, has fought for what he called the "gold standard" for the teachers he represents — saying Berkeley schools should only reopen to in-person learning when educators are vaccinated, among other criteria.

A tentative plan between the Berkeley Unified School District and Berkeley Federation of Teachers in mid-February would see preschoolers through second grade returning to class at the end of March and other grades staggering back to in-person learning through April, according to Berkeleyside.

Megyn Kelly says she pulled her children from private schools for going 'hard left' with 'social justice stuff'

Megyn Kelly removed her children from private school because administrators “took a really hard turn toward social justice stuff," the former Fox News host told Bill Maher on Friday.

While appearing on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, Kelly revisited her November decision to pull her children, Edward, 11, and Thatcher 7, and Yardley, 9, whom she shares with husband Douglas Brunt, from their elite private schools in New York City.

High school in Washington finally opens up, teaches hypochondria and paranoia, and stuffs band students into suffocating cocoons

Public schools in Washington State are beginning to open their doors again, but with bizarre stipulations and behavioral controls. A high school in East Wenatchee is dividing band class into two separate groups and placing the students in individual tent-shaped cocoons. Students can be seen brandishing French horns, flutes, trumpets and even a tuba, as they are crammed into these miniature tents and told to play their instrument for the band.

The Wenatchee and Eastmont high schools only meet part time now, and the students are written up if they do not keep a mask on their face throughout the day. Only three students are allowed per lunch table and most of them leave during lunch just to get some fresh air.

High school in Washington finally opens up, teaches hypochondria and paranoia, and stuffs band students into suffocating cocoons

Even though the schools are beginning to meet up, they continue to implement abusive controls that do not promote individual health. These controlling stipulations only perpetuate the fear and paranoia by telling healthy students they can spread infections they do not have, that their immune system is incapable of handling its environment. This top-down manipulation is destructive to future generations and the mental trajectory of future societies.

How Long Until They Come for Darwin?

Charles Darwin has been kept sacrosanct during the Great Awokening because his On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life is about plants and animals rather than about humans and thus is a stick in the eye to Christian creationists. But … a dozen years later in 1871, Darwin applied his “favoured races” logic to humans in The Descent of Man, and the Woke are gearing up to cancel that book on its 150th anniversary.

After all, we now know that race doesn’t exist.

SUNY Geneseo Suspends Education Student for Saying ‘A Man Is A Man, A Woman Is A Woman’

State University of New York (SUNY) Geneseo has suspended an education student from required teaching programs after he expressed his views on biology in a social media post. In one video, the student says that “a man is a man,” and “a woman is a woman.” The university states that the student’s conservative social media posts call into question his ability to “maintain a classroom environment protecting the mental and emotional well-being of all of [his] students.”

Education student Owen Stevens received an email from SUNY Geneseo, informing him that he was suspended from his field teaching programs after his classmates saw his Instagram videos, according to a report by Daily Wire.

“A man is a man, a woman is a woman. A man is not a woman, and a woman is not a man,” said Stevens in one of the videos in question. “A man cannot become a woman, and a woman cannot become a man.”

CA School Board Trustee Calls Return to In-Person Learning ‘White Supremacist Ideology,’ ‘Slavery’

2+2=5? Bill Gates funnels $1 MILLION to push 'math is racist' narrative

With a $1 million check from the Gates Foundation, leading universities and local governments are building an effort to bring “anti-racism” efforts to mathematics.

A Pathway to Equitable Instruction exists to address “barriers to math equity” by offering “guidance and resources for educators to use now as they plan their curriculum, while also offering opportunities for ongoing self-reflection as they seek to develop an anti-racist math practice.”

Among the group’s content developers are Ruth Basket, Mirna Maranda-Welsh, and Malane Morales-Van Hecke from the Los Angeles County Office of Education’s Multilingual Academic Support Unit; David Chun, the Director of K-12 Mathematics at the Sacramento County Office of Education; and Mindy Shacklett, a Coordinator of Mathematics at the San Diego County Office of Education. Multiple professors from the University of California system and Loyola Marymount University also worked on the project.

Math education prof: 2+2 = 4 'trope' 'reeks of white supremacy patriarchy'

Math professors and educators at leading American universities have taken to Twitter in order to debate whether math is racist.

Some asserted that objective mathematics is rooted in “white supremacist patriarchy” and white social constructs.

The debate itself was rooted in George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984, in which citizens of a fictional totalitarian state believe that 2 plus 2 equals 5 as a result of government propaganda.

Laurie Rubel, who teaches math education at Brooklyn College, says that the idea of math being culturally neutral is a "myth," and that asking whether 2 plus 2 equals 4 "reeks of white supremacist patriarchy."

“Y’all must know that the idea that math is objective or neutral IS A MYTH,” she tweeted.

Bill Gates Bankrolling Educational Organization That Says Math is Racist - Pathway group says minorities getting answers wrong is because of “white supremacy.”

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is bankrolling an activist educational group that believes math is racist and that arriving at an objective answer is an example of “white supremacy.”

Yes, really.

A conglomerate of 25 educational organizations called A Pathway to Equitable Math Instruction asserts that asking students to find the correct answer is an “inherently racist practice.”

The organization’s website lists the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as its only donor.

“In fact, over the past decade, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded over of $140 million to a variety of groups associated with Pathway. Their “antiracist resources” are at the epicenter of a new training course for teachers offered by the Oregon Department of Education throughout the state,” reports National File.

Students demand removal of George Washington statue...at University of Washington

The University of Washington's Black Student Union has garnered nearly 8,000 signatures on a petition that demands the school remove a statue of George Washington, the school's - and the state's - namesake.

The petition claims the statue "perpetuates white supremacy and preserves its historical imposition," because George Washington owned slaves.

The offending statue is part of the university's history: It is the product of a years-long campaign by the Daughters of the American Revolution, which raised $6,000 by "encourag[ing] schoolchildren from all over the state to contribute their pennies, no more than five cents apiece." The statue has stood on campus since 1909.

The petition also proposes cutting ties with the Seattle Police Department, disarming the university police, increasing funding for the American Ethnic Studies Department, and hiring more Black faculty members, among other policies.

Feds say Yale discriminates against Asian, white students in admissions

A Justice Department investigation has found Yale University is illegally discriminating against Asian American and white applicants, in violation of federal civil rights law, officials said Thursday.

Yale denied the allegation, calling it “meritless” and “hasty.”

The findings detailed in a letter to the college’s attorneys Thursday mark the latest action by the Trump administration aimed at rooting out discrimination in the college application process, following complaints from students about the application process at some Ivy League colleges. The Justice Department had previously filed court papers siding with Asian American groups who had levied similar allegations against Harvard University.

The two-year investigation concluded that Yale “rejects scores of Asian American and white applicants each year based on their race, whom it otherwise would admit,” the Justice Department said. The investigation stemmed from a 2016 complaint against Yale, Brown and Dartmouth.

Math: The Latest Battleground in the War Against Truth

In George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984, set in the superstate of Oceania, the government propagates the absurd equation 2 + 2 = 5. Through steady indoctrination, and under the ever-watchful Thought Police, the citizens accept it as an unquestionable truth. The equation symbolizes the extinction of free thought in repressive totalitarian societies: facts, truths and objective reality are subordinated to political will and twisted to serve the authoritarian goals of the Party and its leader, Big Brother.

'Proud' Zionist group leading campaign to sack UK professor for criticising Israel

In another example pointing to the dangerous rise of cancel-culture and the abuse of allegations of anti-Semitism within anti-Palestinian groups, "Israel's fanatical advocates" are demanding the expulsion of prominent British Professor, David Miller, from his post over his remarks about Zionism at a virtual meeting last week.

Miller has spent 15 years tracking the nefarious effects of the fossil fuel lobby, the pharmaceutical lobby, the tobacco lobby, as well as state lobbies that promote Islamophobia, such as those of Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

During the zoom meeting, the sociology professor, considered one of the world's leading experts on Islamophobia, denounced the state ideology of Israel as racist and called for an end to Zionism as a "functioning ideology of the world". He also blasted a number of pro-Israel groups who for a number of years have been leading a hostile campaign to have him sacked from his post at the University of Bristol.

Top Schools Swimming in Applicants After Dropping Tests Requirements While Other Schools Struggle

The New York Times reports:

Interest Surges in Top Colleges, While Struggling Ones Scrape for Applicants

Prestigious universities like Cornell never have a hard time attracting students. But this year, the admissions office in Ithaca, N.Y., is swimming in 17,000 more applications than it has ever received before, driven mostly by the school’s decision not to require standardized test scores during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We saw people that thought ‘I would never get into Cornell’ thinking, ‘Oh, if they’re not looking at a test score, maybe I’ve actually got a chance,’” said Jonathan Burdick, Cornell’s vice provost for enrollment.

But while selective universities like Cornell and its fellow Ivy League schools have seen unprecedented interest after waiving test scores, smaller and less recognizable schools are dealing with the opposite issue: empty mailboxes.

The Decline of the West: American Education Surrenders to "Equity"

Public education in the United States, if measured by results, has been producing graduates that are less competent in language skills and dramatically less well taught in the sciences and mathematics since 1964, when Scholastic Aptitude Test scores peaked. The decline in science and math skills has accelerated in the past decade according to rankings of American students compared to their peers overseas. A recent assessment, from 2015, placed the U.S. at 38th out of 71 countries in math and 24th in science. Among the 35 members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development OECD), the United States came in at 30th in math and 19th in science. Those poor results must be placed in a context of American taxpayers spending more money per student than any other country in the world, so the availability of resources is not necessarily a factor in most school districts.

New Bill in Virginia Would Require Teachers to Undergo ‘Cultural Competency’ Training

Ever since the Democrats took over Virginia, they have been relentless about making radical changes there.

WTOP News reports:

Va. bill heading to governor’s desk would require teachers to get cultural competency training

A new bill headed to the Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s desk would require teachers to undergo training in cultural competency to get their teaching license in the state.

Identical bills passed through the state’s House of Delegates and Senate on Monday, leaving Northam’s signature as the final step.

The bill requires any person who is applying for a teaching license, as well as any teacher seeking to renew their license from the Virginia Board of Education, to complete training in cultural competency. History and social studies teachers applying for a license would also need an endorsement in African American history.

The legislation also requires the school board to include cultural competency in teacher, principal and superintendent evaluations.

High School Football Coach Terminated For Questioning BLM Curriculum

The Dedham Public School District terminated a high school football coach for privately disagreeing with the left-wing social justice curriculum being forced on his kids. He is now suing the school district.

David Flynn was the well-liked head football coach at Dedham High School. He has two children enrolled at different schools in the district, his daughter at Dedham Middle and his son at Dedham Public School elementary. He himself is an alumnus of the school system.

Flynn’s lawsuit is against the district’s superintendent, Michael Welch, the high school principal, Jim Fonest, and the high school’s athletic director, Stephen Traister. Judicial Watch is assisting the former coach, the same legal network that investigated Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.

Only 44% Of High Schoolers Submitted SAT Or ACT Exams Last Year

Remember how important the SATs were as a kid? It was almost like your entire future - and certainly your chances of getting into college - revolved around the standardized test.

But today, the test doesn't hold the clamor and clout that it once did. In fact, during 2020, only 44% of high schoolers submitted SAT or ACT exams with their college application, down from 77% the year prior, according to Bloomberg. A Kaplan survey of 400 college admissions officers found that only 9% were requiring standardized tests this year.

Schools are suspending requiring the testing because of the pandemic - and while students love it, some counselors worry it could "add to growing inequality" in higher education.

Squeezed to Zero: How the Woke and the Chinese Are Destroying Academic Mathematics

There is little sympathy for academics among conservatives, and I understand why. Tenured academics have job security unparalleled anywhere but in government jobs, and spend most of their time either indoctrinating students with “woke” ideology or lapping up taxpayer money on vanity projects posing as “research.” Graduate students seem to spend more time on social media screeching about the latest faux outrage than studying or contributing something worthwhile. Professors who disdain the current direction of the academy privately are viewed (not incorrectly) as cowards. Their unwillingness to stand up has let previously niche concepts such as “intersectionality” slip into the mainstream.

Liberals attack Joe Biden as a 'racist' over his refusal to forgive up to $50K of student debt

Socialists and others on the left excoriated President Joe Biden over his admission that he didn't have the power to forgive student debt for those who owed up to $50,000.

The president voiced his unpopular stance Tuesday evening during a town hall event on CNN when a young woman asked him when he would forgive more than the $10,000 he had previously suggested.

"I will not make that happen," Biden responded.

"It depends on the idea that, I say to a community, I'm going to forgive the debt of billions of dollars ... for people who have gone to Harvard and Yale and Penn," he explained.

Los Angeles Slashes School Police Budget, Replaces Officers With "Climate Coaches"

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board of Education on Tuesday approved a plan to cut one-third of its police budget and divert the money to a program that focuses on black students achievement.

The board voted to cut 133 school police positions from the Los Angeles School Police Department, including 70 sworn officers, 62 non-sworn officers, and one support staff member. The staff reductions reduce the annual budget of the district’s police force from $77.5 million to $52.5 million.

Police officers stationed at all secondary schools will be replaced by new “climate coaches,” who are trained to, according to the plan, implement “positive school culture and climate,” use “de-escalation strategies” to resolve conflict, understand and address “implicit bias,” and eliminate “racial disproportionately” in school discipline practices.

An Absurd Look At The Marxist, Ultra-Woke "Education" System In 2021

In honor of Black History Month, schools across the Land of the Free are adopting a curriculum that’s being pushed from the organization Black Lives Matter.

Curiously, the “Black Lives Matter at School” curriculum has absolutely nothing to do with history, let alone black history.

Instead, the organization presents an entirely Marxist, ultra-woke agenda.

The first clue is that the website literally states “we engage comrades” through the curriculum’s 13 guiding principles.

One of these guiding principles is “disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure” to replace it with “villages that collectively care for one another, and especially our children.”

Wait, what? OUR children? Now we’re supposed to award untold influence over our kids to self-described “trained Marxists” ?

Proposed UK law allowing deplatformed speakers to sue universities is turning free speech from universal right to legal privilege

Plans unveiled by UK education secretary Gavin Williamson that no-platformed speakers could get compensation from universities should be opposed by anyone seriously in favour of defending free speech.

If you were a visitor from Mars arriving in the UK today, you could be excused for believing that there was something progressive about the UK government legislating to enable no-platformed academics, students or visiting speakers to sue universities for compensation where they feel they have suffered because of free speech infringements.

If, however, you aren’t from Mars, you have no excuse.

NYC education panel rejects contract for Gifted and Talented exam

A city education panel made up mostly of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s handpicked allies defied his wishes Thursday, as they voted down a contract to administer the Gifted and Talented admissions exam.

Renegade members of the Panel for Education Policy argued that the test is unfair and racist as they threw a wrench into de Blasio’s plans to offer it one final time by voting 8-7 to nix a $1.7 million deal with Pearson testing.

The debate — which was so intense that it ended at about 1 a.m. Thursday — saw the mutineers overcome the arguments of dissenters who wanted to stick by the mayor and who said that families preparing for the test shouldn’t be blindsided.

The PEP’s snub came despite last-minute lobbying from de Blasio and 11th-hour panel appointments intended to aid the contract’s passage.

"Woke" British Universities To Be Fined For Limiting Free Speech

A pair of new government initiatives will see universities in the UK fined if colleges or student bodies attempt to shut down free speech on campuses, and heritage bodies sanctioned if they use funds to advance partisan political movements.

The Sunday Telegraph reported that the university measure is to be announced this week by the Education secretary Gavin Williamson, who has previously railed against the rise of ‘wokism’ and leftist cancel culture.

The report notes that “Colleges or student bodies that try to cancel, dismiss or demote people over their views will be sanctioned in a major Government escalation on the ‘war on woke’.”

Williamson’s effort will make it the duty of universities to promote free speech on campuses by allowing a broad spectrum of events and speakers, without hindrance.

The move will also see a ‘Free Speech Champion’ established on campuses as part of government’s regulatory Office for Students.

Grade school teacher criticizes 'prison-like' plexiglass cubicles. District tells her to take down FB post and stop being negative.

A teacher criticized her "prison-like" plexiglass structures that were set up at her grade school classroom in a Facebook post, and the district responded by telling her to delete the post and stop being so negative.

Fifth-grade teacher Teresa Holmes posted a video of the cubicles set up for social distancing because of the coronavirus at her Forestbrook Elementary classroom in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Holmes addressed the video to Ken Richardson, the chair of the Horry County Schools Board of Education.

Holmes said she could expect 30 or 32 desks when all the children from virtual study are back in the classroom.

REVEALED: How 'woke' English teachers have cancelled Shakespeare because of his 'white supremacy, misogyny, racism and classism' - and are instead using his plays to lecture in 'toxic masculinity and Marxism'

A growing number of 'woke' academics are refusing to teach Shakespeare in U.S. schools, arguing that the Bard promotes racism, white supremacy and intolerance, and instead are pushing for the teaching of 'modern' alternatives.

Writing in the January issue of School Library Journal, Amanda MacGregor, a Minnesota-based librarian, bookseller and freelance journalist, asked why teachers were continuing to include Shakespeare in their classrooms.

'Shakespeare's works are full of problematic, outdated ideas, with plenty of misogyny, racism, homophobia, classism, anti-Semitism and misogynoir,' she wrote, with the last word referring to a hatred of black women.

The closing of the American mind

The English faculty at Leicester University recently decided to expunge works such as Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales and Beowulf from their curriculum. They hoped that removing classical “Western” works from their curriculum would attract more students. That decision accentuates a trend that has been underway in American colleges, too: Eliminating course that many students claim glorify western imperialism, capitalism, and chauvinism. The students, and often faculty, demand colleges take down portraits and statues as well. The University of Pennsylvania removed a portrait of Shakespeare that had graced the walls for years. Not to be outdone, the San Francisco Board of Education removed Abraham Lincoln’s name from a public school.

France sees foreign threat: “out-of-control woke leftism of American campuses and its attendant cancel culture”

We have covered for a decade the campus shout-downs and shut-downs of speakers, the incessant thought policing, the political correctness run amok, and in recent years, the cancel culture and repression of free expression. We also have documented how the campus culture has migrated to the broader culture, reflected in Big Tech censorship and repression.

It’s not just us noticing the destructive impact of this campus-to-culture phenomenon.

French leaders are worried that the American campus culture poses a threat to the national cohesiveness not just of the Unites States, but of France.

The NY Times reports:

The threat is said to be existential. It fuels secessionism. Gnaws at national unity. Abets Islamism. Attacks France’s intellectual and cultural heritage.

The threat? “Certain social science theories entirely imported from the United States,’’ said President Emmanuel Macron.

Entire School District In Ohio Cancels Classes After Too Many School Staff Have Negative Reactions To The Experimental COVID MRNA Injections

Two days after employees were given their first round of COVID-19 vaccinations, the Fairless Local School District canceled classes, attributing it to many developing side effects and becoming ill.

In most cases, as much as 80 percent of the eligible employees are accepting the vaccinations. Medina County schools canceled classes on Friday to allow employees to all be vaccinated on the same day. Other districts are choosing to have their mass vaccinations over the weekends so as not to interfere with classes. (Full article here)

Parents reportedly received a text on Sunday from the School District Superintendent Bidlack notifying parents of the school closure, which indicates that this cancelation of classes was not scheduled and was only decided the day after seeing how many of the district’s staff became sick or injured from the injections.

London university board urges it to drop IHRA definition of anti-Semitism

UCL's Academic Board has today voted in favour of urging the university council to retract its adoption of the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism as it "is not for purpose within a university setting and has no legal basis for enforcement."

The vote came following a detailed study of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism. The Working Group tasked with this released its findings in December, saying it is their "considered judgement that the IHRA working definition of antisemitism is not fit for purpose in a university setting, and that UCL's symbolic adoption of this confusing and ambiguous document will be of little help in addressing the serious problem of antisemitism in our community; indeed, it may in some ways complicate and undermine it."

THE DUMBING DOWN OF AMERICA IS POISED TO ACCELERATE

Andrey Kessler at the Wall Street Journal accurately notes Mediocrity Is Now Mandatory

In January the College Board announced it would eliminate the essay portion of the SAT, as well as all of the separate SAT subject tests. Their stated purpose was “reducing and simplifying demands on students.” Such a burden.

When the University of California system did away with racial preferences in 1996, it moved to holistic admissions. Grades are only a suggestion—and SAT scores are biased, supposedly.

Virtually all universities and now many companies have D&I departments, for diversity and inclusion. Sounds worthy. But as far as I can tell, the No. 1 job of a D&I department is to hire more people into the D&I department. No one ever mentions excellence.

Many schools, like Hampshire College, Antioch University and Reed College, don’t even bother with meaningful grades—feelings might get hurt.

Youths hurl FIREBOMBS at riot police in Athens as Greece debates controversial education reforms (VIDEO)

Anger over proposed legislation that would ramp up security at Greek universities spilled over into the streets of Athens, as activists tossed Molotov cocktails during pitched battles with police.

Thousands of protesters faced off with law enforcement near the Hellenic Parliament building in Syntagma Square on Wednesday, as lawmakers debated a bill that would place uniformed, unarmed security personnel on university campuses. Currently, police are prohibited from entering the grounds of higher-education institutions, due to a law adopted after the country’s right-wing dictatorship violently crushed a student uprising at Athens Polytechnic in 1973.

Literacy in the 1860s

It is indeed a great boon to Civil War historians that mid-nineteenth century Americans were - for the most part - a literate society. Census information from 1850 and 1860 suggests that somewhere between 75% and 90% of adult whites were...that's right...literate. Literacy rates were higher in the North, and higher again in urban areas. But in terms of the general population - most white Americans at the beginning of the Civil War could read and write.

Of course, there are degrees of literacy. Reading a tavern sign does not make one a man of letters, as it were...and I have read letters written by people who were just barely hanging on to what we might term "literate." But for the sake of argument, let's just say that we are dealing with a literate society.

Biden Scraps Trump Mandate For Universities To Report Chinese Dealings

Joe Biden has scrapped a policy instituted by President Trump that mandated US colleges and universities to report all connections with the Chinese government to encourage transparency in the face of evidence that CCP propaganda is infiltrating the education system.

Axios reports that Trump enacted a policy demanding that education institutions disclose all dealings with the controversial Chinese Confucius Institute.

Trump made sure that under the new policy any institutions failing to comply would lose certification for the Student and Exchange Visitor Program.

However, Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs documents show that Biden scrapped the policy on January 26, with an ICE official also confirming to Campus Reform that the policy was done away with by Biden.

Boise State University overrun by social justice ideology, according to scholars’ new report

Social justice proponents are steadily transforming the public institution from within, scholars argue

Social justice has fully permeated academics at Boise State University, according to a new research report that suggests such a situation on campus “divides the world into aggrieved minorities and oppressive majorities.”

Scholars Scott Yenor and Anna Miller, in their December 2020 report “Social justice ideology in Idaho higher education,” break down how social justice proponents have “infiltrated the highest level of the BSU administration” and are steadily transforming the public institution from within.

“BSU is adding to its social justice mission every year,” the 36-page report states. “Social justice education at BSU is no longer in its infancy. It is heading toward maturity, spreading into hiring, policies, curriculum, and student life.”

Mediocrity Is Now Mandatory

Has an era of American mediocrity begun? In January the College Board announced it would eliminate the essay portion of the SAT, as well as all of the separate SAT subject tests. Their stated purpose was “reducing and simplifying demands on students.” Such a burden.

One high school near me just dropped freshman advanced-standing (honors) English “to combat the effects of academic ‘tracking” because it “ultimately separates students of different socioeconomic and racial backgrounds.” It turns out that middle schools from lower-income areas aren’t adequately preparing their students for high school. So rather than fix that problem, they dumbed down high school.

Montana Aims To "Save Women's Sports" From Biden's Executive Order

The Montana House Judiciary Committee passed House Bill 112 in a 62-38 vote on Jan. 25, requiring public school athletes to participate in sports according to their biological sex.

The bill, named the “Save Women’s Sports Act” is sponsored by Rep. John Fuller, who told Campus Reform, “I have spent my life’s career defending children, helping them achieve their dreams and advocating for the benefits of sports and athletics for everyone.”

The bill passed the Montana House within days of President Joe Biden signing an executive order that would allow biological males who identify as females to compete in women's sports, as Campus Reform previously reported.

According to United States v. Virginia, 518 U.S. 515, 533 (1996) "'Inherent differences' between men and women, we have come to appreciate, remain cause for celebration, but not for denigration of the members of either sex or for artificial constraints on an individual's opportunity."

Clueless In DC: Biden Admin Contradicting Itself On School Re-Openings As Joe Blames Trump?

President Joe Biden on Sunday claimed it is necessary for kids to return "safely" to school and to expect the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to release "science-based" guidelines later this week on requirements for schools to reopen amid the ongoing pandemic.

The president’s comments came during a pre-Super Bowl interview on "CBS Evening News." Questioned by anchor Norah O’Donnell whether some 20 million American children have not been in the classroom for nearly a year – and the mental health damage that has caused – constituted a "national emergency," Biden stated it does.

'We have educators who are dying': Teachers still fear COVID-19, but calls to open schools grow louder

California mom Megan Bacigalupi has had enough. She wants her kindergartner and second-grader back in their Oakland classrooms.

But the coronavirus is spreading too quickly to open schools in Alameda County, based on current state standards. And the local teachers union hasn’t agreed to go back – even after teachers have been vaccinated. So she expects her kids will be logging on to school from home for a while.

“The impediments to opening are just too great,” said Bacigalupi, who is lobbying California lawmakers to establish firm, statewide health metrics that, once met, would require schools to open. “In the end, it comes down to a lack of political will to get the kids back in the classroom.”

Students at Harvard’s Kennedy School Demand Mandatory Anti-Racism Courses

Harvard students push for curriculum ‘audit,’ mandatory ‘anti-racism’ courses

Harvard Kennedy School students sent an open letter to administrators demanding racial equity actions, including a mandatory anti-racism course for Masters degree students and a full “audit” of the curriculum using an “anti-racist, anti-colonial lens.”

Roughly 200 members of the Kennedy School’s 1,200 students signed the letter from the HKS Equity Coalition, which is working to “mobilize our peers, pressure the administration to create transformative change, and hold each other accountable in community.”

“When placing Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) within the context of our white supremacist society, the racial inequity and injustice at this institution is not surprising,” opened the letter. “However, it is also no excuse for the school’s complacency.”

California Proposed Ethnic Studies Curriculum A Subterfuge For Anti-American And Anti-Zionist Activism

The California public school and university systems have seen their fair share of controversy—from outrage at the Islamist Council on American-Islamic Relations’ (CAIR) involvement in a San Diego “anti-bullying” program to blowback against the Burbank Unified School District’s practice of temporarily discontinuing the teaching of classic books.

Now, the state’s Department of Education is back in the hot-seat as its much-reviled “Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum (ESMC) ” has once again made headlines for its reliance on the neo-Marxist (so-called) academic discipline known as “Critical Ethnic Studies.”

On January 22, the online media outlet United Press International reported:

The California Department of Education is finalizing a model ethnic studies curriculum designed to teach students in public high schools about the history, culture and contributions to American society of historically marginalized people.

"We Cannot Mince Words": San Francisco Education Official Denounces Meritocracy As Racist

Alison Collins, the Vice President of the San Francisco Board of Education, has declared meritocracy to be racist even in the selection of students at advanced or gifted programs. As we have previously discussed, this has been a building campaign in academia as educators and others denounce selection based on academic performance through testing. At issue in San Francisco is Lowell High School where top students were selected through testing and grades. Most cities have such gifted programs or institutions, though we have discussed calls for the elimination of all gifted and talented programs in cities like New York. Lowell had a majority of white and Asian students and only two percent of its student body were African-Americans. Collins and other board members want to abolish the merit-based selection in favor of a blind lottery system.

Why are our universities so desperate to work for China's dictators? MI6 fears over UK colleges links to Beijing as at least a dozen institutions are probed by spooks

More than a dozen British universities are under investigation over commercial relationships with the Chinese government that might break laws designed to protect national security and human rights, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

The institutions – which include some of the most prestigious universities in the country – could be hit by ‘enforcement notices’ imposed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs over alleged breaches of export controls in their dealings with Beijing.

It is understood the security services fear some academics have been sharing pioneering British technology with China that could be facilitating the dictatorial Communist government’s repression of minorities and dissidents.

San Francisco Schools Renamed the Arts Department Because Acronyms Are a Symptom of White Supremacy

The San Francisco United School District isn't quite finished with its renaming binge: The district's arts department, previously titled VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts), will now be known as the SFUSD Arts Department.

This change has been made in accordance with "antiracist arts instruction," according to ABC-7 News.

"It is a very simple step we can take to just be referred to as the SFUSD Arts Department for families to better understand who we are," Sam Bass, director of the SFUSD Arts Department, explained in a memo obtained by the local news network.

Bass did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and the memo isn't widely available. But ABC-7 reported that the decision was made to eliminate VAPA because the department realized acronyms are a symptom of "white supremacy culture."

Prominent San Francisco high school could drop academic achievement for admission

The San Francisco school board might junk grade and testing requirements for its nationally acclaimed Lowell High School, which has long been a lightning rod for issues of race in education.

The school is the San Francisco Unified School District's only 9-12 campus that uses a formula of grades and standardized test scores for admission of most students — but that might change based on a resolution presented by board members on Tuesday.

The proposal calls for a random lottery for admission to Lowell, which is majority Asian American, to replace the current grade-and-test system, which allegedly "excludes students of color" and "perpetuates the opportunity gap."

Of Lowell's 2,871 students, 18.1 percent are white, 11.5 percent

University of Dallas rebuffs trans activist’s campaign to fire Catholic professor

The alumnus, “Bethany” Beeler by name, a married man and father of three who claims that “Jesus is trans,” penned an open letter to the university administration, wherein he asserts that Upham’s “mischaracterization of trans persons flies in the face of established medical science, psychological science, and public consensus on the trans experience.”

US inequalities spark school reopening battles

The issue of reopening schools during the pandemic in the US has become intertwined with the increasing gap between their rich and poor.

With a major teachers’ strike looming Chicago has become the key battleground in the reopening of schools amid America’s struggles handling the coronavirus. The root issue is not racial disparities or even health safety but how the pandemic keeps worsening long standing economic inequalities between the rich and poor classes.

In the decentralized United States system funding for schools comes mainly from local taxes. While schools in wealthy neighborhoods have plenty of resources for hand sanitizers and masks, schools in poor areas are being asked to cope with pandemic-related costs despite decades of non-investment.

Virtually normal: Montreal student tries to contact his online prof, only to learn he's dead

Feeling a little disconnected in a world of virtual meetings, events and lectures?

No one's come face-to-face with the new reality quite the same way as Aaron Ansuini, a Montreal student who tried to contact his university lecturer this month.

Ansuini attends Concordia University and is taking a course on Canadian art history, taught, of course, by video.

But at one point he had a question, so he looked up the professor, Francois Marc Gagnon, to find his email address. Then he got a shock.

"When I was looking up his name to get his email address I pulled up his obituary," Ansuini said.

It turned out that his professor had died nearly two years earlier -- and the university had never mentioned that to the students taking his pre-recorded classes.

University of Chicago Considering Creation of ‘Critical Race Studies’ Department

UChicago considers entire academic department for ‘critical race’ studies

The University of Chicago is considering the creation of a critical race studies department and is funding an effort to look into creating the new academic unit. The move came just weeks after President Donald Trump had signed an executive order banning federal contractors and grant recipients from teaching Critical Race Theory, which the Trump administration deemed “divisive” and “anti-American propaganda.”

President Joe Biden reversed the order in a flurry of executive orders of his own.

As Campus Reform reported in October, a group of faculty members initiated a diversity strike, during which faculty members pledged not to participate or collaborate in university-sponsored diversity initiatives until their demands were met.

Pittsburgh: Sexual Deviant Will Keep His Job As High School Teacher

Parents and community members in suburban Allegheny County are enraged after it was revealed that a teacher at Avonworth High School is a gay pervert with a dog fetish. While this is disturbing to most people, he has not been fired from his job yet.

Problems began for Doug Haskins, the openly gay 9th grade biology instructor, in early January when students discovered a homosexual lifestyle Instagram page. Haskins, wearing a black dog mask, was featured with another man in canine-themed BDSM costumes.

After the discovery, a source told National Justice that students began barking at Haskins during one of his Zoom classes. Soon after, the Instagram pages vanished.

DC Public Schools Using Black Lives Matter Curriculum That Prioritizes ‘Disrupting the Nuclear Family’

DC Public Schools have announced that they will be using a race-based curriculum sent out by Black Lives Matter to teach students during Black History Month.

An email sent to parents refers to children as “communal children” and prioritizes “disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement.”

According to a report from the Daily Wire, who obtained the email, the program calls for allowing everyone to “choose their own gender,” even children in elementary school.

The critical race theory-based curricula uses Black Lives Matter’s “13 Guiding Principles,” which the Wire reports pushes for “queer and transgender affirmation and ‘restorative justice,’ among other priorities. The guide calls for the dismantling of the ‘patriarchal practice’ of requiring mothers to parent their children while also participating in ‘justice work.'”

Hamilton Catholic school board investigates allegations of former employee's racist messagesSocial Sharing

The Hamilton Catholic school board is undergoing an investigation into allegations that an occasional education assistant allegedly posted racist and hate-filled messages online for years under a pseudonym.

None of the allegations have been proven, but Daly said if "he was communicating … anything like, anywhere close to what is suggested … that would be very, very concerning from any employee of our board, particularly those that interact directly and often with students."

Timothy Juhlke was unavailable after multiple requests for comment over two weeks from CBC News, but told The Hamilton Spectator he was hacked.

Joe Biden Kills Office Protecting Job Rights of U.S. Graduates

The Biden administration is eliminating an office that was recently created to protect many millions of American graduates — including Biden’s young voters — from government-fueled corporate discrimination in hiring, pay, and workplace rights.

The worker-rights office was announced January 13 by President Donald Trump’s deputies and canceled January 26 by Biden’s deputies.

The short-lived office was intended to document and expose the corporate discrimination against Americans that is fueled by the huge Occupational Practical Training (OPT) program.

In 2019, the OPT program provided work permits to 400,000 foreign graduates so they can take the jobs and opportunities needed by graduates — including Biden’s voters — under rules that make foreign workers much cheaper to hire and easier to manage than American graduates are. OPT workers are foreign, temporary, contract workers — not immigrants.

Why CDC Approves Of School Reopenings Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

Although a majority of educational institutions across the country were forced to switch to online learning amid the coronavirus pandemic, researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) believe it’s safe to begin reopening schools for full in-person instruction.

An article published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) on Tuesday reveals experts approve of reopening certain schools if restrictions are put in place to lower the spread of COVID-19, ABC 7 reports.

“Committing today to policies that prevent SARS-CoV-2 transmission in communities and in schools will help ensure the future social and academic welfare of all students and their education,” the researchers wrote.

Petition: President Biden: Cancel student loans in the first 100 days.

Federal student loans have become a national threat. Before the Covid-19 virus emerged, 1 in 5 adults in the U.S. had student loans, and over 80% of them were either unable to pay on their loans, or were paying but their balances were going up. The default rate for 2004 students is 40%, and these people were taking out less than a third of what today's students are compelled to borrow for college. The default rate for current borrowers will easily exceed 75%, if not far higher. This is more than triple the default rate of sub-prime home mortgages, and this was all true before the pandemic. By every reasonable metric, this is now a catastrophically failed lending system.

Chicago Teachers Vote To 'Strike' Against In-Person Instruction Over COVID-19 Fears

The Chicago Teachers Union announced on Sunday that its members voted to defy an order to return to in-person instruction on Monday, citing concerns over COVID-19. Officials with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) have made clear that refusing to return when ordered would be tantamount to an illegal strike.

CPS, the nation's third-largest district, ordered roughly 10,000 K-8 teachers and other staffers to return to school on Monday, while roughly 70,000 students are expected to show up for part-time in-person classes on February 1 - when CPS says they still expect K-8 teachers to appear in-person. There has been no return date set for high school students.

The teachers union says that the reopening plan fails to take the health of teachers into account, and has called on the district to allow them to continue teaching from home.

Welcome to the University of WOKE! Leicester has ditched Chaucer, is 'decolonising' its syllabus and marks 'International Womxn's Week'... no wonder it's turning into a first-class failure, says GUY ADAMS

Even though it may not boast any dreaming spires or belong to the Russell Group of leading universities, there was a time not so very long ago when Leicester University punched well above the weight of its provincial rivals.

Named Britain’s ‘University of the Year’ in 2008, with a heritage that encompassed great thinkers such as novelist Malcolm Bradbury, a former student, poet Philip Larkin, one of its old librarians, and Sir David Attenborough, who lived on the attractive campus as a child, it was home to nearly 23,000 students.

Exactly a decade ago, Leicester came 17th in the Guardian University Guide’s national league tables, and was also top university for ‘student satisfaction’ outside Oxbridge.

Leicester uni to axe 145 jobs, with medieval studies and English language set to sink to create a woke 'decolonised curriculum'

Cash-strapped University of Leicester is to cut dozens of jobs. Apparently, courses on race, sexuality and diversity will be spared the chopping block while professors teaching the English language should seek new employment.

On Monday, the university disclosed details about its downsizing plans. Due to Covid-19, its income flows have dried up, so some of its 3,800 staff will have to go, with as many as 145 jobs slated to become redundant.

An email explaining the situation and announcing a 90-day consultation period was sent to employees, and some of them were quite unhappy with the management's rationale for selecting which areas should be "disinvested."
