FOWL PLAY: University of Pennsylvania denies hunting club official recognition

During the COVID-19 pandemic, over 750 registered student groups at the University of Pennsylvania have been able to host virtual events. But Penn students interested in hunting, archery, and shooting are being denied permission for even virtual activities.

Today, the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education called on Penn to stop engaging in viewpoint discrimination and promptly process the students’ application for recognition.

“In refusing to officially acknowledge the hunting club, Penn’s administration is missing the mark,” said Zach Greenberg, FIRE senior program officer. “Penn must afford these students the same rights and privileges it already provides to its hundreds of student groups.”

Florida Gov. DeSantis Says ‘There Is No Room’ In Florida Classrooms For Critical Race Theory

On Wednesday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis made clear that his state’s educational curriculum would not include “Critical Race Theory,” a far-left political ideology.

Among its many definitions and descriptions, Harvard defines CRT thusly: “Critical race theories combine progressive political struggles for racial justice with critiques of the conventional legal and scholarly norms which are themselves viewed as part of the illegitimate hierarchies that need to be changed.”

Critics describe CRT as un-American and at least far-left, if not a form of Marxist ideology.

DeSantis made his comments during a press conference.

Liberal University of Vermont Professor Stands Up for His White Students; Resists Calls to Resign

A soft-spoken liberal professor at the University of Vermont has had enough of the anti-white abuse he faces at his work place.

Aaron Kindsvatter, who teaches courses on education and mental health, published a video on March 8th detailing the institutional discrimination and systematic racial dehumanization he and other whites on the UVM campus face on a daily basis.

Kindsvatter speaks anecdotally about how he struggled when his father was dying. He noted that his father dedicated his life to bettering the human condition. Rather than offer sympathy or respect, university faculty and activists began attacking him for his immutable racial characteristics during this tough time.

Students Demand Resignation of U. Vermont Prof Who Complained of Anti-White Campus Sentiment

University of Vermont Professor Aaron Kindsvatter recently uploaded a video to YouTube addressing concern over what he sees happening on campus. According to Kindsvatter, who teaches counseling, anti-white sentiment is growing on campus.

Students want him to resign over this.

Kindsvatter is obviously referring to the ‘anti-racist’ and Critical Race Theory ideology which has swept through schools across the country. For the crime of questioning this, he has become a target of student activists.

Keeping Georgetown Law School Profs from Talking About Black Students' Low Grades Helps No One

Some simple, obvious facts are too politically incorrect for academics to state publicly. Georgetown University just fired law professor Sandra Sellers and forced out professor David Batson. Sellers' offense? "I end up having this angst every semester that a lot of my lower ones are blacks," Sellers' said in discussion with another professor at the end of a Zoom call.

Batson's offense? He didn't condemn the statement, but instead sympathized with Sellers’ concerns. “What drives me crazy is… my own unconscious biases playing out in the scheme of things” might be responsible for their poor scores, he said. The logic is that blacks do poorly in college because of professors' biases.

Georgetown Law Dean Bill Treanor said he was "appalled" by these statements, but all academics know that this is true.

Survey: Feminists Who Criticize Transgender Ideology More Hated in Academia Than Conservatives

You may have seen examples of this in the news over the past few years. Some transgender people are hostile to women who hold to the idea of women based on biology. Did you ever think such a thing would be controversial?

The College Fix reports:

Feminists critical of transgender ideology even more hated in academia than conservatives: survey

One in three conservative academics and graduate students has faced disciplinary action, or threatened with it, for conveying their personal political beliefs, according to a survey on political discrimination and “self-censorship” in higher education.

The Center for the Study of Partisanship and Ideology research found a population at even higher risk: feminists who are critical of transgender ideology.

Portland State University Censors Professor’s Effort to Expose Academic Censorship

So the school responded to accusations of censorship with censorship? Doesn’t that prove the professor’s point?

The College Fix reports:

Portland State University put ‘gag order’ on professor’s video exposing academic censorship

Portland State University officials recently filed a copyright strike against a professor’s video that attempted to expose what he calls an effort to shut down academic freedom.

The video, produced by PSU Professor Bruce Gilley, was made to accompany his new report titled “The New Censorship in American Higher Education: Insights from Portland State University,” and included snippets from a publicly available video of a recent faculty senate meeting.

But Gilley said university brass lodged a copyright strike against his video this week, forcing him to post an edited version that removed his peers’ comments.

"The Second Amendment Doesn’t Stop At The Door Of A School” - State Steps Up For Students

House lawmakers in Idaho passed a bill that would let school employees carry concealed firearms without requiring school board permission.

In a 52-18 vote on Thursday approving the measure ( House Bill 122), lawmakers moved to expand the ability of school staff members to carry weapons on school grounds, which under current law requires a nod from the school board.

While some Idaho school boards already allow staffers to carry, Rep. Chad Christensen, a Republican who sponsored the bill, claimed that it shouldn’t be up to officials to make determinations about constitutional rights.

Muslim Tufts University Dental Student Forced to Renounce Palestinian Cause to Get Off Jewish Blacklist

An Arab-American once active in Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) has been intimidated by Jews into renouncing his beliefs.

Adam Elayan, who is a dental student at Tufts University, found himself on the infamous Canary Mission blacklist over Tweets supporting the Palestinian cause many years ago. Canary Mission, which is funded by shadowy wealthy Jews affiliated with the Netanyahu government, “doxes” nationalists, Muslims and socialists who publicly criticize Zionism.

The blacklist allows Jews to utilize their strong influence over American institutions to deny victims of its defamation employment and educational opportunities, make them targets of lawsuits, and even get them harassed by the FBI.

WTF Is Happening?? New York City School Takes Progressive 'Wokeness' To Entirely New Level

What happened in America that brought us to the point of this insanity? Where did we all go wrong to think in any world that this is normal? If this is not an alarm to all Americans to pay more attention to what is happening - to have a come to Jesus moment with themselves and their friends who buy into this.

A Manhattan private school aiming to use more “inclusive language” is encouraging its students to stop using the terms “mom,” “dad” and “parents” as the words make assumptions about the children’s home lives.

The Grace Church School in Noho — which offers academic courses for junior kindergarten through 12th grade — issued a 12-page guide to students and staff explaining the school’s grand mission of inclusivity.

The detailed guide recommends using the terms “grown-ups,” “folks,” “family” or “guardians” as alternatives to “mom,” “dad” and “parents.” It additionally suggests using the term “caregiver” instead of “nanny/babysitter.”

GOING VIRAL: Virginia Teacher Slams Critical Race Theory at Virginia School Board Meeting (VIDEO)

One Courageous Teacher Speaks Out.

Recently, a brave teacher attended the Loudoun County School Board in Virginia. This school district is rated number four in the state of Virginia and has made national headlines for moving away from Dr. Seuss from associating him with their reading celebration due to the “racial undertones” in several of his books.

This Virginia teacher reached out to The Gateway Pundit following the meeting in Loudoun County. The teacher who runs Patriotic Educators on Instagram told this reporter Loudoun County schools policies and leadership trickle down to the rest of the school districts and pave the way to further indoctrinate the rest of the state.

While only ONE teacher from this district has spoken up, it is rare and extremely dangerous for teachers to speak up due to cancel-culture and horrible backlash.

California ‘Ethnic Studies Curriculum’ Proposal Gets Worse, Heavy On Critical Race Theory and Anti-Israel Activism

The saga continues: California’s Department of Education has released yet another iteration of its neo-Marxist-inspired, Critical Theory-based Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum for public schools. Even after five years of work (and who knows how much money) the latest (fourth!) version of the ESMC—to be voted on next week—has managed, somehow, to be worse than the last.

Last month, we detailed a litany of historical and epistemological problems with the neo-Marxist-inspired California Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum (ESMC) in our post, California Proposed Ethnic Studies Curriculum A Subterfuge For Anti-American And Anti-Zionist Activism.

This Texas School Never Required Kids to Mask or Distance

No masks. No social distancing. No mandatory quarantines and no shutdowns. In the Peaster Independent School District in Texas, life went on as usual when school started in fall 2020 and everything was fine.

In fact, as the school year rolled on with homecoming and other fall activities including sports and the annual pancake dinner and festival going on as scheduled, the district actually experienced higher enrollment and average daily attendance than last year, according to superintendent Lance Johnson.

In an interview with CBS, Johnson said most students are on track to finish the school year on grade level, closing the learning gap that occurred when schools shut down in spring 2020.

Most interesting, though, was the response of the parents and community. The district surveyed families before opening. Fifty-five percent said they’d send the kids to school if the buildings opened with masks and social distancing mandated.

Miss. School Slammed for Assignment Instructing Students to 'Pretend Like You Are' Enslaved

A Mississippi school district is facing criticism after a class assignment asked middle schoolers to put themselves in the shoes of an enslaved person, and write letters to friends and family.

The assignment given to eighth-graders at Purvis Middle School told students to "pretend like you are a slave working on a Mississippi plantation," according to a screenshot of the assignment that Black Lives Matter Mississippi posted to Twitter.

The students were then instructed to write a letter "to your family back in Africa or in another American state" describing their lives, their journey to America and their daily tasks.

"You may also want to tell about the family you live with/work for and how you pass your time when you aren't working," the assignment said.

The image prompted outrage on social media, including from Black Lives Matter Mississippi's social media manager, Jeremy Marquell Bridges, who said he was sent a screenshot of the assignment by a parent.

200 academics back lecturer under attack from 'proud Zionists'

Two hundred academics from Britain and the US have signed an open letter defending prominent British Professor David Miller who is under attack for criticising the Zionist state of Israel. Pro-Israel groups describing themselves as "proud Zionists" have been leading a vicious campaign to have the sociology professor sacked from his post at the University of Bristol.

Miller has spent 15 years tracking the nefarious effects of the fossil fuel lobby, the pharmaceutical lobby, and the tobacco lobby, as well as state lobbies that promote Islamophobia, such as those of Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, it is Miller's work in exposing the work of the pro-Israel lobby that has angered groups like the Union of Jewish Students (UJS), which is leading the campaign against him. The union describes itself as a "proud" Zionist organisation. Its own constitution commits members of the UJS to "making an enduring commitment" to Israel.

Arizona State Dean Thinks Grading a Student’s Writing is a Form of Racism and White Supremacy

Arizona State Dean: Grading Writing Based On Quality Is ‘Racist,’ Promotes ‘White Language Supremacy’

An Arizona State University Associate Dean penned a 358-page book detailing how grading student’s writing is a form of racism and white supremacy.

In a book titled “Labor-Based Grading Contracts: Building Equity and Inclusion in the Compassionate Writing Classroom,” professor Asao Inoue encourages teachers to ditch grading for a “labor-based” grading system wherein students earn grades based on their effort. The quality of a student’s writing would not help or hinder their course grade.

“This book focuses on one kind of grading contract, one that calculates final course grades purely by the labor students complete, not by any judgments of the quality of their writing,” Inoue writes. “While the qualities of student writing is still at the center of the classroom and feedback, it has no bearing on the course grade.”

'MASK APARTHEID' Parents furious as schoolkids told if they don’t wear masks they’ll have to sit at back of class

SCHOOLKIDS have been told if they refuse to wear face masks they will be made to sit at the back of the classroom.

Parents are furious at the measures to segregate pupils from their peers when they return from March 8, with one blasting it as a "mask apartheid".

They fear their children will face discrimination and be forced to miss out on lessons and social activities.

Primary school kids do not have to wear masks when pupils return next week.

But secondary school students will be asked to wear them if it is not possible to socially distance at two metres apart.

L.A. Teachers Union Pushes Back on Plan For Reopening Schools Due To ‘Structural Racism’ (VIDEO)

The UTLA (United Teachers of Los Angeles), the largest and most powerful teachers union in California, rejected Governor Gavin Newsome’s school reopening plan. Its leaders labeled it a “recipe for propagating structural racism.”

The plan was announced by Newsom and his Democrat supermajority in the state legislature. It provides $6.6 billion in taxpayer funding to accelerate the school reopening process while coronavirus cases drop.

“$2 billion would fund safety measures to support in-person instruction, such as personal protective equipment, ventilation upgrades, and COVID-19 testing. $4.6 billion would fund expanded learning opportunities, such as summer school, tutoring, and mental health services,” the governor’s office press release said.

After Leading School Closures, Berkeley Teachers' Union President Spotted Dropping Daughter Off at In-Person Preschool

Parent groups are crying "hypocrisy" after a video surfaced showing the president of the Berkeley teachers union dropping off his two-year-old daughter at an in-person preschool.

Matt Meyer, president of the Berkeley Federation of Teachers, has fought for what he called the "gold standard" for the teachers he represents — saying Berkeley schools should only reopen to in-person learning when educators are vaccinated, among other criteria.

A tentative plan between the Berkeley Unified School District and Berkeley Federation of Teachers in mid-February would see preschoolers through second grade returning to class at the end of March and other grades staggering back to in-person learning through April, according to Berkeleyside.

High school in Washington finally opens up, teaches hypochondria and paranoia, and stuffs band students into suffocating cocoons

Public schools in Washington State are beginning to open their doors again, but with bizarre stipulations and behavioral controls. A high school in East Wenatchee is dividing band class into two separate groups and placing the students in individual tent-shaped cocoons. Students can be seen brandishing French horns, flutes, trumpets and even a tuba, as they are crammed into these miniature tents and told to play their instrument for the band.

The Wenatchee and Eastmont high schools only meet part time now, and the students are written up if they do not keep a mask on their face throughout the day. Only three students are allowed per lunch table and most of them leave during lunch just to get some fresh air.

High school in Washington finally opens up, teaches hypochondria and paranoia, and stuffs band students into suffocating cocoons

Even though the schools are beginning to meet up, they continue to implement abusive controls that do not promote individual health. These controlling stipulations only perpetuate the fear and paranoia by telling healthy students they can spread infections they do not have, that their immune system is incapable of handling its environment. SUNY Geneseo Suspends Education Student for Saying ‘A Man Is A Man, A Woman Is A Woman’

State University of New York (SUNY) Geneseo has suspended an education student from required teaching programs after he expressed his views on biology in a social media post. In one video, the student says that “a man is a man,” and “a woman is a woman.” The university states that the student’s conservative social media posts call into question his ability to “maintain a classroom environment protecting the mental and emotional well-being of all of [his] students.”

Education student Owen Stevens received an email from SUNY Geneseo, informing him that he was suspended from his field teaching programs after his classmates saw his Instagram videos, according to a report by Daily Wire.

“A man is a man, a woman is a woman. A man is not a woman, and a woman is not a man,” said Stevens in one of the videos in question. “A man cannot become a woman, and a woman cannot become a man.”

Math education prof: 2+2 = 4 'trope' 'reeks of white supremacy patriarchy'

Math professors and educators at leading American universities have taken to Twitter in order to debate whether math is racist.

Some asserted that objective mathematics is rooted in “white supremacist patriarchy” and white social constructs.

The debate itself was rooted in George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984, in which citizens of a fictional totalitarian state believe that 2 plus 2 equals 5 as a result of government propaganda.

Laurie Rubel, who teaches math education at Brooklyn College, says that the idea of math being culturally neutral is a "myth," and that asking whether 2 plus 2 equals 4 "reeks of white supremacist patriarchy."

“Y’all must know that the idea that math is objective or neutral IS A MYTH,” she tweeted.

Students demand removal of George Washington University of Washington

The University of Washington's Black Student Union has garnered nearly 8,000 signatures on a petition that demands the school remove a statue of George Washington, the school's - and the state's - namesake.

The petition claims the statue "perpetuates white supremacy and preserves its historical imposition," because George Washington owned slaves.

The offending statue is part of the university's history: It is the product of a years-long campaign by the Daughters of the American Revolution, which raised $6,000 by "encourag[ing] schoolchildren from all over the state to contribute their pennies, no more than five cents apiece." The statue has stood on campus since 1909.

The petition also proposes cutting ties with the Seattle Police Department, disarming the university police, increasing funding for the American Ethnic Studies Department, and hiring more Black faculty members, among other policies.

Feds say Yale discriminates against Asian, white students in admissions

A Justice Department investigation has found Yale University is illegally discriminating against Asian American and white applicants, in violation of federal civil rights law, officials said Thursday.

Yale denied the allegation, calling it “meritless” and “hasty.”

The findings detailed in a letter to the college’s attorneys Thursday mark the latest action by the Trump administration aimed at rooting out discrimination in the college application process, following complaints from students about the application process at some Ivy League colleges. The Justice Department had previously filed court papers siding with Asian American groups who had levied similar allegations against Harvard University.

The two-year investigation concluded that Yale “rejects scores of Asian American and white applicants each year based on their race, whom it otherwise would admit,” the Justice Department said. The investigation stemmed from a 2016 complaint against Yale, Brown and Dartmouth.

Math: The Latest Battleground in the War Against Truth

In George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984, set in the superstate of Oceania, the government propagates the absurd equation 2 + 2 = 5. Through steady indoctrination, and under the ever-watchful Thought Police, the citizens accept it as an unquestionable truth. The equation symbolizes the extinction of free thought in repressive totalitarian societies: facts, truths and objective reality are subordinated to political will and twisted to serve the authoritarian goals of the Party and its leader, Big Brother.

'Proud' Zionist group leading campaign to sack UK professor for criticising Israel

In another example pointing to the dangerous rise of cancel-culture and the abuse of allegations of anti-Semitism within anti-Palestinian groups, "Israel's fanatical advocates" are demanding the expulsion of prominent British Professor, David Miller, from his post over his remarks about Zionism at a virtual meeting last week.

Miller has spent 15 years tracking the nefarious effects of the fossil fuel lobby, the pharmaceutical lobby, the tobacco lobby, as well as state lobbies that promote Islamophobia, such as those of Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

During the zoom meeting, the sociology professor, considered one of the world's leading experts on Islamophobia, denounced the state ideology of Israel as racist and called for an end to Zionism as a "functioning ideology of the world". He also blasted a number of pro-Israel groups who for a number of years have been leading a hostile campaign to have him sacked from his post at the University of Bristol.

Top Schools Swimming in Applicants After Dropping Tests Requirements While Other Schools Struggle

The New York Times reports:

Interest Surges in Top Colleges, While Struggling Ones Scrape for Applicants

Prestigious universities like Cornell never have a hard time attracting students. But this year, the admissions office in Ithaca, N.Y., is swimming in 17,000 more applications than it has ever received before, driven mostly by the school’s decision not to require standardized test scores during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We saw people that thought ‘I would never get into Cornell’ thinking, ‘Oh, if they’re not looking at a test score, maybe I’ve actually got a chance,’” said Jonathan Burdick, Cornell’s vice provost for enrollment.

But while selective universities like Cornell and its fellow Ivy League schools have seen unprecedented interest after waiving test scores, smaller and less recognizable schools are dealing with the opposite issue: empty mailboxes.

The Decline of the West: American Education Surrenders to "Equity"

Public education in the United States, if measured by results, has been producing graduates that are less competent in language skills and dramatically less well taught in the sciences and mathematics since 1964, when Scholastic Aptitude Test scores peaked. The decline in science and math skills has accelerated in the past decade according to rankings of American students compared to their peers overseas. A recent assessment, from 2015, placed the U.S. at 38th out of 71 countries in math and 24th in science. Among the 35 members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development OECD), the United States came in at 30th in math and 19th in science. Those poor results must be placed in a context of American taxpayers spending more money per student than any other country in the world, so the availability of resources is not necessarily a factor in most school districts.

New Bill in Virginia Would Require Teachers to Undergo ‘Cultural Competency’ Training

Ever since the Democrats took over Virginia, they have been relentless about making radical changes there.

WTOP News reports:

Va. bill heading to governor’s desk would require teachers to get cultural competency training

A new bill headed to the Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s desk would require teachers to undergo training in cultural competency to get their teaching license in the state.

Identical bills passed through the state’s House of Delegates and Senate on Monday, leaving Northam’s signature as the final step.

The bill requires any person who is applying for a teaching license, as well as any teacher seeking to renew their license from the Virginia Board of Education, to complete training in cultural competency. History and social studies teachers applying for a license would also need an endorsement in African American history.

The legislation also requires the school board to include cultural competency in teacher, principal and superintendent evaluations.

High School Football Coach Terminated For Questioning BLM Curriculum

The Dedham Public School District terminated a high school football coach for privately disagreeing with the left-wing social justice curriculum being forced on his kids. He is now suing the school district.

David Flynn was the well-liked head football coach at Dedham High School. He has two children enrolled at different schools in the district, his daughter at Dedham Middle and his son at Dedham Public School elementary. He himself is an alumnus of the school system.

Flynn’s lawsuit is against the district’s superintendent, Michael Welch, the high school principal, Jim Fonest, and the high school’s athletic director, Stephen Traister. Judicial Watch is assisting the former coach, the same legal network that investigated Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.

Only 44% Of High Schoolers Submitted SAT Or ACT Exams Last Year

Remember how important the SATs were as a kid? It was almost like your entire future - and certainly your chances of getting into college - revolved around the standardized test.

But today, the test doesn't hold the clamor and clout that it once did. In fact, during 2020, only 44% of high schoolers submitted SAT or ACT exams with their college application, down from 77% the year prior, according to Bloomberg. A Kaplan survey of 400 college admissions officers found that only 9% were requiring standardized tests this year.

Schools are suspending requiring the testing because of the pandemic - and while students love it, some counselors worry it could "add to growing inequality" in higher education.

Squeezed to Zero: How the Woke and the Chinese Are Destroying Academic Mathematics

There is little sympathy for academics among conservatives, and I understand why. Tenured academics have job security unparalleled anywhere but in government jobs, and spend most of their time either indoctrinating students with “woke” ideology or lapping up taxpayer money on vanity projects posing as “research.” Graduate students seem to spend more time on social media screeching about the latest faux outrage than studying or contributing something worthwhile. Professors who disdain the current direction of the academy privately are viewed (not incorrectly) as cowards. Their unwillingness to stand up has let previously niche concepts such as “intersectionality” slip into the mainstream.

Student Lawsuit: U. Central Florida Treatment of Prof. Charles Negy Chilled Campus Free Speech

The University of Central Florida has been in the news for its punitive actions against Professor Charles Negy after he tweeted opinions that went contrary to campus and social justice politics. We have covered the Negy case extensively:

An obvious question is what impact on campus free speech would the administrative vindictiveness against Negy have. Apparently, a lot, according to a lawsuit filed by the free speech group Speech First, which has brought cases successfully challenging anti-free speech policies at the U. Michigan and U. Texas.

Judicial Watch Suing on Behalf of HS Coach Allegedly Removed for Objecting to Critical Race Training

David Flynn is a top-rated football coach who has worked for Dedham High School in Massachusetts for years. He recently objected to the addition of Critical Race Theory being taught in his daughter’s 7th-grade history class, and the high school decided not to rehire him as a coach.

Judicial Watch is now suing on his behalf.

From Judicial Watch:

Judicial Watch Sues on Behalf of High School Coach Fired for Objecting to BLM/Critical Race Theory Curriculum for Daughter’s 7th Grade History Class

Judicial Watch announced today that it filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of David Flynn, the father of two Dedham Public School students, who was removed from his position as head football coach after exercising his right as a citizen to raise concerns about his daughter’s seventh-grade history class curriculum being changed to include biased coursework on politics, race, gender equality, and diversity (Flynn v. Liberals attack Joe Biden as a 'racist' over his refusal to forgive up to $50K of student debt

Socialists and others on the left excoriated President Joe Biden over his admission that he didn't have the power to forgive student debt for those who owed up to $50,000.

The president voiced his unpopular stance Tuesday evening during a town hall event on CNN when a young woman asked him when he would forgive more than the $10,000 he had previously suggested.

"I will not make that happen," Biden responded.

"It depends on the idea that, I say to a community, I'm going to forgive the debt of billions of dollars ... for people who have gone to Harvard and Yale and Penn," he explained.

Los Angeles Slashes School Police Budget, Replaces Officers With "Climate Coaches"

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board of Education on Tuesday approved a plan to cut one-third of its police budget and divert the money to a program that focuses on black students achievement.

The board voted to cut 133 school police positions from the Los Angeles School Police Department, including 70 sworn officers, 62 non-sworn officers, and one support staff member. The staff reductions reduce the annual budget of the district’s police force from $77.5 million to $52.5 million.

Police officers stationed at all secondary schools will be replaced by new “climate coaches,” who are trained to, according to the plan, implement “positive school culture and climate,” use “de-escalation strategies” to resolve conflict, understand and address “implicit bias,” and eliminate “racial disproportionately” in school discipline practices.

An Absurd Look At The Marxist, Ultra-Woke "Education" System In 2021

In honor of Black History Month, schools across the Land of the Free are adopting a curriculum that’s being pushed from the organization Black Lives Matter.

Curiously, the “Black Lives Matter at School” curriculum has absolutely nothing to do with history, let alone black history.

Instead, the organization presents an entirely Marxist, ultra-woke agenda.

The first clue is that the website literally states “we engage comrades” through the curriculum’s 13 guiding principles.

One of these guiding principles is “disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure” to replace it with “villages that collectively care for one another, and especially our children.”

Wait, what? OUR children? Now we’re supposed to award untold influence over our kids to self-described “trained Marxists” ?

Proposed UK law allowing deplatformed speakers to sue universities is turning free speech from universal right to legal privilege

Plans unveiled by UK education secretary Gavin Williamson that no-platformed speakers could get compensation from universities should be opposed by anyone seriously in favour of defending free speech.

If you were a visitor from Mars arriving in the UK today, you could be excused for believing that there was something progressive about the UK government legislating to enable no-platformed academics, students or visiting speakers to sue universities for compensation where they feel they have suffered because of free speech infringements.

If, however, you aren’t from Mars, you have no excuse.

Joe Biden slaps down two demands from left-wing of his party saying he WON'T write off $50,000 in student debts and says he would compromise on timing of $15 minimum wage

President Joe Biden said Tuesday that he wouldn't write off $50,000 in student loan debt, as progressives have asked for, and was willing to gradually bump up the minimum wage to $15.

Biden participated in a CNN town hall in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he wiggled away from the left of his party, knocking down attendee Joycelyn Fish's ask that he work to get $50,000 wiped from each American student's loan bill.

NYC education panel rejects contract for Gifted and Talented exam

A city education panel made up mostly of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s handpicked allies defied his wishes Thursday, as they voted down a contract to administer the Gifted and Talented admissions exam.

Renegade members of the Panel for Education Policy argued that the test is unfair and racist as they threw a wrench into de Blasio’s plans to offer it one final time by voting 8-7 to nix a $1.7 million deal with Pearson testing.

The debate — which was so intense that it ended at about 1 a.m. Thursday — saw the mutineers overcome the arguments of dissenters who wanted to stick by the mayor and who said that families preparing for the test shouldn’t be blindsided.

The PEP’s snub came despite last-minute lobbying from de Blasio and 11th-hour panel appointments intended to aid the contract’s passage.

"Woke" British Universities To Be Fined For Limiting Free Speech

A pair of new government initiatives will see universities in the UK fined if colleges or student bodies attempt to shut down free speech on campuses, and heritage bodies sanctioned if they use funds to advance partisan political movements.

The Sunday Telegraph reported that the university measure is to be announced this week by the Education secretary Gavin Williamson, who has previously railed against the rise of ‘wokism’ and leftist cancel culture.

The report notes that “Colleges or student bodies that try to cancel, dismiss or demote people over their views will be sanctioned in a major Government escalation on the ‘war on woke’.”

Williamson’s effort will make it the duty of universities to promote free speech on campuses by allowing a broad spectrum of events and speakers, without hindrance.

The move will also see a ‘Free Speech Champion’ established on campuses as part of government’s regulatory Office for Students.

Grade school teacher criticizes 'prison-like' plexiglass cubicles. District tells her to take down FB post and stop being negative.

A teacher criticized her "prison-like" plexiglass structures that were set up at her grade school classroom in a Facebook post, and the district responded by telling her to delete the post and stop being so negative.

Fifth-grade teacher Teresa Holmes posted a video of the cubicles set up for social distancing because of the coronavirus at her Forestbrook Elementary classroom in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Holmes addressed the video to Ken Richardson, the chair of the Horry County Schools Board of Education.

"I'm wondering, this is my classroom, I have a rather large classroom compared to the other classrooms in our building," she explained.

Holmes said she could expect 30 or 32 desks when all the children from virtual study are back in the classroom.

REVEALED: How 'woke' English teachers have cancelled Shakespeare because of his 'white supremacy, misogyny, racism and classism' - and are instead using his plays to lecture in 'toxic masculinity and Marxism'

A growing number of 'woke' academics are refusing to teach Shakespeare in U.S. schools, arguing that the Bard promotes racism, white supremacy and intolerance, and instead are pushing for the teaching of 'modern' alternatives.

Writing in the January issue of School Library Journal, Amanda MacGregor, a Minnesota-based librarian, bookseller and freelance journalist, asked why teachers were continuing to include Shakespeare in their classrooms.

'Shakespeare's works are full of problematic, outdated ideas, with plenty of misogyny, racism, homophobia, classism, anti-Semitism and misogynoir,' she wrote, with the last word referring to a hatred of black women.

That forced the team to forfeit its game against Reinhardt on Thursday night.

The closing of the American mind

The English faculty at Leicester University recently decided to expunge works such as Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales and Beowulf from their curriculum. That decision accentuates a trend that has been underway in American colleges, too: Eliminating course that many students claim glorify western imperialism, capitalism, and chauvinism. The students, and often faculty, demand colleges take down portraits and statues as well. The University of Pennsylvania removed a portrait of Shakespeare that had graced the walls for years. Not to be outdone, the San Francisco Board of Education removed Abraham Lincoln’s name from a public school.

France sees foreign threat: “out-of-control woke leftism of American campuses and its attendant cancel culture”

We have covered for a decade the campus shout-downs and shut-downs of speakers, the incessant thought policing, the political correctness run amok, and in recent years, the cancel culture and repression of free expression. We also have documented how the campus culture has migrated to the broader culture, reflected in Big Tech censorship and repression.

It’s not just us noticing the destructive impact of this campus-to-culture phenomenon.

French leaders are worried that the American campus culture poses a threat to the national cohesiveness not just of the Unites States, but of France.

The NY Times reports:

The threat is said to be existential. It fuels secessionism. Gnaws at national unity. Abets Islamism. Attacks France’s intellectual and cultural heritage.

The threat? “Certain social science theories entirely imported from the United States,’’ said President Emmanuel Macron.

Entire School District In Ohio Cancels Classes After Too Many School Staff Have Negative Reactions To The Experimental COVID MRNA Injections

Two days after employees were given their first round of COVID-19 vaccinations, the Fairless Local School District canceled classes, attributing it to many developing side effects and becoming ill.

In most cases, as much as 80 percent of the eligible employees are accepting the vaccinations. Medina County schools canceled classes on Friday to allow employees to all be vaccinated on the same day. Other districts are choosing to have their mass vaccinations over the weekends so as not to interfere with classes. (Full article here)

Parents reportedly received a text on Sunday from the School District Superintendent Bidlack notifying parents of the school closure, which indicates that this cancelation of classes was not scheduled and was only decided the day after seeing how many of the district’s staff became sick or injured from the injections.

London university board urges it to drop IHRA definition of anti-Semitism

UCL's Academic Board has today voted in favour of urging the university council to retract its adoption of the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism as it "is not for purpose within a university setting and has no legal basis for enforcement."

The vote came following a detailed study of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism. The Working Group tasked with this released its findings in December, saying it is their "considered judgement that the IHRA working definition of antisemitism is not fit for purpose in a university setting, and that UCL's symbolic adoption of this confusing and ambiguous document will be of little help in addressing the serious problem of antisemitism in our community; indeed, it may in some ways complicate and undermine it."

Andrey Kessler at the Wall Street Journal accurately notes Mediocrity Is Now Mandatory

In January the College Board announced it would eliminate the essay portion of the SAT, as well as all of the separate SAT subject tests. Their stated purpose was “reducing and simplifying demands on students.” Such a burden.

When the University of California system did away with racial preferences in 1996, it moved to holistic admissions. Grades are only a suggestion—and SAT scores are biased, supposedly.

Virtually all universities and now many companies have D&I departments, for diversity and inclusion. Sounds worthy. But as far as I can tell, the No. 1 job of a D&I department is to hire more people into the D&I department. No one ever mentions excellence.

Many schools, like Hampshire College, Antioch University and Reed College, don’t even bother with meaningful grades—feelings might get hurt.

Literacy in the 1860s

It is indeed a great boon to Civil War historians that mid-nineteenth century Americans were - for the most part - a literate society. Census information from 1850 and 1860 suggests that somewhere between 75% and 90% of adult whites were...that's right...literate. Literacy rates were higher in the North, and higher again in urban areas. But in terms of the general population - most white Americans at the beginning of the Civil War could read and write.

Of course, there are degrees of literacy. Reading a tavern sign does not make one a man of letters, as it were...and I have read letters written by people who were just barely hanging on to what we might term "literate." But for the sake of argument, let's just say that we are dealing with a literate society.

Biden Scraps Trump Mandate For Universities To Report Chinese Dealings

Joe Biden has scrapped a policy instituted by President Trump that mandated US colleges and universities to report all connections with the Chinese government to encourage transparency in the face of evidence that CCP propaganda is infiltrating the education system.

Axios reports that Trump enacted a policy demanding that education institutions disclose all dealings with the controversial Chinese Confucius Institute.

Trump made sure that under the new policy any institutions failing to comply would lose certification for the Student and Exchange Visitor Program.

However, Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs documents show that Biden scrapped the policy on January 26, with an ICE official also confirming to Campus Reform that the policy was done away with by Biden.

Boise State University overrun by social justice ideology, according to scholars’ new report

Social justice proponents are steadily transforming the public institution from within, scholars argue

Social justice has fully permeated academics at Boise State University, according to a new research report that suggests such a situation on campus “divides the world into aggrieved minorities and oppressive majorities.”

Scholars Scott Yenor and Anna Miller, in their December 2020 report “Social justice ideology in Idaho higher education,” break down how social justice proponents have “infiltrated the highest level of the BSU administration” and are steadily transforming the public institution from within.

“BSU is adding to its social justice mission every year,” the 36-page report states. “Social justice education at BSU is no longer in its infancy. It is heading toward maturity, spreading into hiring, policies, curriculum, and student life.”

Mediocrity Is Now Mandatory

Has an era of American mediocrity begun? In January the College Board announced it would eliminate the essay portion of the SAT, as well as all of the separate SAT subject tests. Their stated purpose was “reducing and simplifying demands on students.” Such a burden.

One high school near me just dropped freshman advanced-standing (honors) English “to combat the effects of academic ‘tracking” because it “ultimately separates students of different socioeconomic and racial backgrounds.” It turns out that middle schools from lower-income areas aren’t adequately preparing their students for high school. So rather than fix that problem, they dumbed down high school.

Montana Aims To "Save Women's Sports" From Biden's Executive Order

The Montana House Judiciary Committee passed House Bill 112 in a 62-38 vote on Jan. 25, requiring public school athletes to participate in sports according to their biological sex.

The bill, named the “Save Women’s Sports Act” is sponsored by Rep. John Fuller, who told Campus Reform, “I have spent my life’s career defending children, helping them achieve their dreams and advocating for the benefits of sports and athletics for everyone.”

The bill passed the Montana House within days of President Joe Biden signing an executive order that would allow biological males who identify as females to compete in women's sports, as Campus Reform previously reported.

According to United States v. Virginia, 518 U.S. 515, 533 (1996) "'Inherent differences' between men and women, we have come to appreciate, remain cause for celebration, but not for denigration of the members of either sex or for artificial constraints on an individual's opportunity."

Clueless In DC: Biden Admin Contradicting Itself On School Re-Openings As Joe Blames Trump?

President Joe Biden on Sunday claimed it is necessary for kids to return "safely" to school and to expect the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to release "science-based" guidelines later this week on requirements for schools to reopen amid the ongoing pandemic.

The president’s comments came during a pre-Super Bowl interview on "CBS Evening News." Questioned by anchor Norah O’Donnell whether some 20 million American children have not been in the classroom for nearly a year – and the mental health damage that has caused – constituted a "national emergency," Biden stated it does.

'We have educators who are dying': Teachers still fear COVID-19, but calls to open schools grow louder

California mom Megan Bacigalupi has had enough. She wants her kindergartner and second-grader back in their Oakland classrooms.

“The impediments to opening are just too great,” said Bacigalupi, who is lobbying California lawmakers to establish firm, statewide health metrics that, once met, would require schools to open. “In the end, it comes down to a lack of political will to get the kids back in the classroom.”

California Proposed Ethnic Studies Curriculum A Subterfuge For Anti-American And Anti-Zionist Activism

The California public school and university systems have seen their fair share of controversy—from outrage at the Islamist Council on American-Islamic Relations’ (CAIR) involvement in a San Diego “anti-bullying” program to blowback against the Burbank Unified School District’s practice of temporarily discontinuing the teaching of classic books.

"We Cannot Mince Words": San Francisco Education Official Denounces Meritocracy As Racist

Alison Collins, the Vice President of the San Francisco Board of Education, has declared meritocracy to be racist even in the selection of students at advanced or gifted programs. As we have previously discussed, this has been a building campaign in academia as educators and others denounce selection based on academic performance through testing. At issue in San Francisco is Lowell High School where top students were selected through testing and grades. Most cities have such gifted programs or institutions, though we have discussed calls for the elimination of all gifted and talented programs in cities like New York. Lowell had a majority of white and Asian students and only two percent of its student body were African-Americans. Collins and other board members want to abolish the merit-based selection in favor of a blind lottery system.

Why are our universities so desperate to work for China's dictators? MI6 fears over UK colleges links to Beijing as at least a dozen institutions are probed by spooks

More than a dozen British universities are under investigation over commercial relationships with the Chinese government that might break laws designed to protect national security and human rights, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

The institutions – which include some of the most prestigious universities in the country – could be hit by ‘enforcement notices’ imposed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs over alleged breaches of export controls in their dealings with Beijing.

It is understood the security services fear some academics have been sharing pioneering British technology with China that could be facilitating the dictatorial Communist government’s repression of minorities and dissidents.
