Israel's attacks on Iran's nuclear sites signal a new phase of conflict

Over the past week, mysterious explosions and fires have wracked key infrastructure connected to Iran’s nuclear programme at Natanz and Parchin, key facilities engaged in uranium enrichment and the production of rocket fuel for ballistic missiles.

The US and Israel have accused Iran of violating UN resolutions and the nuclear deal in testing new ballistic-missile technology. Although Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has repeatedly denied any intent to create nuclear weapons, even going so far as to issue a fatwa against it, Iran’s enemies are convinced it plans to “go nuclear”.

The recent attacks appear to be an attempt by a hostile state to degrade that programme and delay Iran’s ability to potentially send such weapons to targets outside of Iran. Tehran has said that a cyberattack could be behind the explosion at Natanz, which destroyed a building that allegedly housed an advanced centrifuge system that could increase the speed of enrichment by up to 50 times.

Netanyahu’s Annexation Drive

It is that staying power that navigates the often feeble exhortations to international law that pullulate airwaves and diplomatic traffic. Be it the legality of international settlements, attacks on sovereign countries that have not been given the legitimising wash of the UN Security Council, or Israel’s possession of nuclear weapons – all of these are frowned upon, condemned only to be assimilated into a ceremony of legitimacy. Israel might well be condemned and scolded, but nothing more will come of it. The game of semantics will be played, masking the exertion of brute force.

This pattern threatens to reassert itself in the latest warnings directed at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s promise of annexation. The timetabling for this muscular assertion of land pinching remains vague. It is intended to apply to Jewish settlements in the West Bank and in the Jordan Valley from this month.

We are all ‘Jews’ in the eyes of today’s Nazis

Palestinians are ‘Jews’ in the eyes of those who plunder their land, their homes, fields and olive groves. They are ‘Jews’ to those who abuse their human rights and squash their hopes for peace and justice.

Blacks are ‘Jews’ in the eyes of those who dare compare them to ‘monkeys.’ They are ‘Jews’ in the eyes of those who work hard to vet (look here, here, here, here etc. ) their calls for equality and for a future of hope.

The Muslims are ‘Jews’ in the eyes of those who call them ‘Islamo-Fascists’ and mobilize their influence to decimate Arab and Muslim countries one after the other.

So-called ‘Whites’ are ‘Jews’ in the eyes of those who mock their culture, call for their elimination, burn their books and persecute their intellectuals, mock their heritage and desecrate their bronze heroes.

Leader: Iran, as ever, will spare no effort to fight off Israeli evil

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has assured Palestinian resistance fighters that as ever, Iran always has their back and will not forsake its duty of confronting the occupying Israeli regime’s evil nature.

Ayatollah Khamenei addressed the remarks to Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, in a letter dated Saturday.

“The Islamic Republic, as before, does not stint on any effort to support the oppressed Palestinian people, redress their rights, and also fight off the bogus and usurping Zionist regime’s evil,” the Leader noted.

Iran stays true to the cause in line with its religious and humanitarian duty and also in keeping with the value-based principles of its Islamic Revolution, the letter noted.

In Israeli settlements, money is on annexation real estate boom

In the Jewish settlement of Ariel, Perri Ben Senior can't wait for Israel to annex this part of the occupied West Bank, hoping it will be a boon for her real estate firm.

With its 20,500 residents, a university and shopping centres, Ariel has been tipped as one of the settlements likely to be included in a first wave of Israeli annexations taking advantage of support from US President Donald Trump.

A controversial peace plan unveiled by Trump in January promised US backing for Israel to annex swathes of the West Bank, including Jewish settlements considered illegal under international law.

Speaking at her real estate agency, Ben Senior said she hoped Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would forge ahead with implementing Trump's plan.

"It will raise the price of apartments and land because there will be more demand," she anticipated.

Israel DM: Israel Not Necessarily Behind All Iran Attacks

The latest in a flurry of incidents in Iran, all of which have been blamed on Israel, saw explosions and fire last week at Natanz nuclear site. Iran initially downplayed the seriousness of the fire, though they’ve since admitted the damage was more severe.

Earlier reports were that this was some dissident group, but reports of sabotage later led to claims Israel carried out the attack as a cyberattack causing the damage. Israel has, of course, regularly attacked Iran, particularly with cyberattacks.

Israel hasn’t officially commented on what happened at Natanz, and still hasn’t, as on Sunday Defense Minister Benny Gantz cautioned that it was “not necessarily” Israel behind attacks just because they happened in Iran.

Several Palestinians Suffocate on Tear Gas north of Tulkarem

Israeli troops attacked, on Saturday, several Palestinians in the northern occupied West Bank village of Qaffin, north of Tulkarem city.

Palestinian media sources said that Israeli soldiers stormed Qaffin village, and fired dozens of tear-gas canisters towards local villagers resisting the military invasion, causing many of them to suffocate or faint.

The sources stated that medical crews transferred several Palestinians to a local clinic for medical treatment for inhalation injuries, some less serious cases were treated on site.

In Gaza, families plead for help after two infants die awaiting permits for medical treatment in Israel

Two infants have died in the Gaza Strip awaiting permits for medical treatment in Israel, a tragedy that Palestinians anxiously fear could expand in the coming weeks. Permits for Gaza’s sickest patients to receive treatment in Israel and the West Bank ended abruptly on May 19 when Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced an end to coordination with Israel. It was a protest move against Israel’s plans to annex parts of the West Bank in July.

The first child died last week, nine-month-old Omar Yaghi who awaited permission to exit Gaza for surgery for a cardiac abnormality. On Monday, Anwar Harb died nine days after his birth, also from a cardiac disease.

US Moves To Seize Iran Petroleum On New Tanker Group Bound For Venezuela

Via AlMasdarNews.com,

US prosecutors will seek to put an end to Iran’s oil deliveries to Venezuela, as they have filed a new suit to seize the contents on these tankers.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. prosecutors are targeting the oil from four Iranian tankers, along with the payments between Tehran and Caracas.

Iranian oil tankers off the port of Bandar Abbas, via AFP.

Tehran will help fund the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who Washington has designated as a terrorist organization.

“[These payments] support the IRGC’s full range of nefarious activities, including the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery, support for terrorism, and a variety of human rights abuses, at home and abroad”, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Zia Faruqui claims in the filing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump seems to believe, magically, that he can flout international law because he wants a specific outcome to happen here, through a muscular "mis-juxtapositioning" of American law, and this is not the first time Faruqui has tried to pull this this, as you will see about with a similar attempt against Syria:

Unsealed Warrant and Forfeiture Complaint Seek Seizure of Oil Tanker “Grace 1” for Unlawful Use of U.S. Financial System to Support and Finance Sale of Oil Products to Syria

This happened in August of last year.

I have to wonder just how far Putin is going to let this madness play out, until he feels forced to act, and what he will do when he feels he has no other course to play, than to protect Iranian and Venezuelan commerce.

Israel Annexation Plan Puts International Law to The Test – Is It Still Relevant?

If Israel’s planned annexation of a further thirty percent of Palestinian territory goes ahead on July 1st or anytime thereafter then international law and a rules-based world is toast.

International law is under the microscope this week and the examination will determine whether a rules based world order is a reality or a figment of the imagination spouted for effect by various world leaders and players but amounting to no more than a fairy-tale. Do international laws actually apply in the world or are they as useful as a chocolate teapot?

Fatah, Hamas vow to unite against Israel's annexation plan

In a show of unity, senior officials from Fatah and Hamas held a joint press conference that is the first of its kind in several years.

Jibril Rajoub Fatah Secretary General from Ramallah and Saleh al-Arouri Hamas deputy chief from Beirut vowed in a video conference to unite efforts in fighting Israel’s plan to annex parts of the occupied West bank including the Jordan valley.

Observers, meanwhile, have praised what they say could be a new phase stressing that reconciliation between the Palestinian factions is a necessary step in combating Israel’s annexation plan; however they say the real challenge is to translate these remarks into reality and strengthen the Palestinian position.

Democrats call for aid cut to Israel over annexation

Democratic lawmakers are signing a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo calling to cut aid to Israel if it proceeds with annexation. Mike TheilerUPI
Four women in the US Congress say that if Israel proceeds with further annexation plans in the occupied West Bank it would “lay the groundwork for Israel becoming an apartheid state.”

Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Betty McCollum and Pramila Jayapal are making the claim in a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that they are circulating for signature among colleagues.

According to Politico, the letter has been signed by nine more lawmakers including Senator Bernie Sanders.

Although the letter overlooks the current apartheid reality, it is not typical for US lawmakers to refer to Israeli apartheid at all.

It is even rarer for members of Congress to call for Israel to pay any price for its actions.

Israel's Sovereignty Bill: How Much Will it Cost And Who Will Pay the Price?

Although it is still unclear whether Israel will press ahead with its intention to apply sovereignty to parts of the West Bank, the Israeli media is already counting losses, saying the move would force the Jewish state to fork out a pretty penny on security and the absorption of Palestinians, money that the nation cannot spare.

Defence minister Benny Gantz said on Monday that the 1 July deadline, when Israel would extend its sovereignty over some parts of the West Bank, is not "a sacred date," stressing that his priorities lay in the tackling of COVID-19, not the inclusion of new territory.

Although the "annexation" plan remains on the table, Gantz is determined to first tackle the pandemic that shrank Israel's economy and sent the country's unemployment rates to unprecedented heights, before he gets the Jewish state into an endeavor that will force it to fork out a pretty penny, expenses that the nation cannot currently afford.

Netanyahu Warns Assad Not to Ally With Iran’s Ayatollahs, Hints Israeli Ops in Syria Will Continue

The Israeli Air Force has carried out hundreds of strikes in Syria in recent years, justifying air and missile attacks by accusing Iran of trying to establish a proxy presence in the Arab Republic. Damascus has denied these claims, and accused Tel Aviv of blatant aggression.

Israel will continue its military operations against Iran in Syria to prevent its entrenchment in that country, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced.

“We are absolutely resolved to prevent Iran from entrenching itself militarily in our immediate vicinity,” Netanyahu said, speaking to reporters at the start of a meeting with US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook on Tuesday.

“I say this to the ayatollahs in Tehran: Israel will continue to take the actions necessary to prevent you from creating another terror and military front against Israel. And I say to Bashar al-Assad: You’re risking the future of your country and your regime,” Netanyahu added.

The Fall of Eliot Engel: Israel-Firster Defeated in Congressional Primary

Sometimes listening to the morning news on television is a bit like entering into an alternate universe. Last Wednesday, the day after primary elections in New York State, CBS News reported that New York Congressman Eliot Engel was “facing a challenge” from Democratic Party challenger Jamaal Bowman. NBC News reported that Engel was “trailing.” The reality, according to the New York Times tally of the results that morning was that Bowman had beaten Engel by a margin to 60.9% versus 35.6% with more than 82% of votes counted. Even though it posted the numbers, the Times felt compelled to describe the apparently impending lopsided loss as if it were something less than that, as a “stiff challenge” for Engel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

We need to advocate, peacefully and logically, for the end of tenure for ALL Israeli-firsters in Congress; if these people are so Israel-centric, they need to leave this country, adopt Israeli citizenship, and run for the Knesset!!

I, for one, am very tired of what this "special relationship" has wrought for this country, in both blood and money, and think it is past the time for the US to examine who its real "friends" are on this planet.

No End to Illegal US Sanctions War on Iran

“We (demand that) the Islamic Republic of Iran behave like a normal nation (sic).”

“We’re happy to engage in conversations with them when the time is right (sic)…”

“(C)onditions that suggest somehow we give a bunch of money to the Iranians so they can foment terror around the world is simply ludicrous (sic).”

“It’s just not how (the Trump regime) behaves (sic).”

Fact: Intentions of both right wings of the US one-party state are crystal clear — seeking dominance over planet earth, its resources and populations by whatever it takes to achieve its objectives, war by hot and other means its favored strategies.

Fact: Even-handed US engagement with other nations was long ago abandoned. Demanding subservience to its interests replaced it.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Apparently, to this administration, hard-won, moral negotiations are a completely unknown process with which their members don't want to wrap their brains around, and this administration's actions may put us head-to-head with Russia and China if we invade Iran.

Chokehold on Diplomat Exposes Israel’s Special Type of Apartheid

An Israeli diplomat filed a complaint last week with police after he was pulled to the ground in Jerusalem by four security guards, who knelt on his neck for five minutes as he cried out: “I can’t breathe.”

There are obvious echoes of the treatment of George Floyd, an African-American killed by police in Minneapolis last month. His death triggered mass protests against police brutality and reinvigorated the Black Lives Matter movement. The incident in Jerusalem, by contrast, attracted only minor attention – even in Israel.

An assault by Israeli security officials on a diplomat sounds like an aberration – a peculiar case of mistaken identity – quite unlike an established pattern of police violence against poor black communities in the US. But that impression would be wrong.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When someone like South Africa's Bishop Desmond Tutu calls what Israelis do to the Palestinians "apartheid", you can very safely bet that he has a pretty good idea of what he is talking about!!

Congress Seeks to Expand Israel-US Defence Cooperation to Include Technology Sharing

Israel is already the US’s closest ally in the Middle East, with Washington committing to provide Tel Aviv with $38 billion in military aid over ten years in 2016. Israel became a major US non-NATO ally in 1987, making it eligible to receive the latest US military hardware as it became available.

Bipartisan groups of lawmakers in both the House and Senate are working on legislation which would further expand US-Israeli defence cooperation to include a ‘US-Israel Operations-Technology Working Group’.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One wonders to just what third-party Israel will be willing to sell these advances in US technology, to ultimately use against us?!? And trust me, this wouldn't be the first time.

Bolton: Trump Gave Bibi Green Light For Preemptive Israeli Strike On Iran Nuclear Sites

Among the new revelations and interesting tidbits found in John Bolton's now leaked pre-published edition of “The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir,” is that President Trump was said to be prepared to endorse an Israeli preemptive strike on Iran's nuclear sites.

In a section which describes the "elusive search" for an Arab-Israeli peace deal, Bolton writes that Trump told him at a moment of increased Israeli concerns over Iran's nuclear development:

"You tell Bibi that if he uses force, I will back him. I told him that, but you tell him again."

Webmaster's Commentary:

Apparently, Bolton and Trump both suffer from a collective, and severe, case of SMD (Selective Memory Disorder)

Apparently, both gentlemen have "conveniently forgotten" a Diplomatic conclave, held last summer in Russia, where a Russian diplomat assured his Iranian counterpart of the following: Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

The article goes on to state: "“Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow.

When asked if Russia was ready to provide material support to Iran if the U.S. attacks it, Kabulov said that “specific actions are a question for the Russian president.”

“But it’s not just Russia, many other countries sympathize and empathize with Iran,” the Kommersant business daily quoted him as saying. “Tehran won’t be alone if the U.S., God forbid, takes wild and irresponsible actions against it.”

Career diplomats like Kabulov don't even "break wind" without Putin's express blessing, so if he made that statement in this meeting, you can bet your sweet bippy that Putin is putting his very considerable geopolitical weight behind Iran NOT getting invaded or bombed by the US.

A proxy war for Israel against Iran, with Russia coming in on Iran's side?!?

China, Russia see US 'bullying' as IAEA adopts anti-Iran resolution

China and Russia have rebuked the International Atomic Energy Agency for giving in to US "bullying" as the IAEA's board of governor on Friday passed a resolution critical of Iran for the first time since 2012.

The resolution, submitted by France, Britain and Germany, comes at a time when the United States is working to extend an arms embargo against Iran.

Diplomats attending the Friday meeting in Vienna were cited as saying that the resolution called on Iran to allow access to two former sites mentioned in two IAEA reports.

Iranian officials have said Tehran has responded to all outstanding questions about its nuclear activities and the IAEA has repeatedly confirmed it. The new questions, they say, have been raised based on information fabricated by Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, this is a demonstration by the IAEA as to just how intensely the US and Israel have grabbed it by a very sensitive portion of the human anatomy, and is forcing it to go along with their agenda, which is a pretext for a war against Iran.

I cannot tell you who I think will win the Presidential elections here in the US in November, but I am almost prepared to bet real money on the following; no matter who gets elected, we will most likely see this country go back to a draft as a preparation for this, and other, endless wars of conquest and occupation.

And this time, the Federal Government will be coming after both our young men and our young women.

Epstein Case: Documentaries Won't Touch Tales Of Intel Ties

Authored by Elizabeth Vos via ConsortiumNews.com,

Investigation Discovery premiered a three-hour special, “Who Killed Jeffrey Epstein?” on May 31, the first segment in a three-part series, that focused on Epstein’s August 2019 death in federal custody. The series addresses Epstein’s alleged co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell, his links with billionaire Leslie Wexner, founder of the Victoria Secrets clothing line, and others, as well as the non-prosecution deal he was given.

The special followed on the heels of Netflix’s release of “Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich,” a mini-series that draws on a book of the same name by James Patterson.

Neither documentary however deals at all with Epstein’s suspected ties to the world of intelligence.

Webmaster's Commentary:

When specials like this are churned out, very rarely do they look at the in-depth questions which need to be asked, and answered, but misdirect the viewing public by focusing on the cheesy/sleazy side of the subject's character.

Netanyahu Still Seeking Defense Minister’s Approval for Annexation: Likud sources say Netanyahu is looking to dissolve coalition government

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that he is still seeking approval of his annexation plan by Defense Minister Benny Gantz, a requirement to gain the Trump administration’s support. Officials from Gantz’s Blue and White party have said they cannot approve a plan until Netanyahu properly outlines one.

Speaking at a recent meeting with his Likud party, Netanyahu said he doesn’t have a map ready. “I wanted to bring annexation for approval soon, but the map isn’t ready yet,” Netanyahu said. The prime minister also said he is not sure where the Blue and White party stands.

The “peace plan” released by the Trump administration in January called for Israeli sovereignty over settlements in the West Bank and parts of the Jordan Valley, an area making up approximately one-third of the West Bank. The plan was immediately rejected by Palestinians, but Netanyahu intends on going through with the annexation and is looking to start on July 1st.

Webmaster's Commentary:

That Netanyahu is so hell-bent on doing this starting 1 July, to the point of potentially even dissolving the coalition government, and risking yet another election where nothing really gets sorted, is more than a little scary, both for Israel and the Middle East in general.

Today is 16 June, so Netanyahu has precisely 14 days to pull this "map" together; is he considering doing this without a map, possibly?!?

He is still facing those corruption charges, which are not going away, making him "geopolitically wounded" in Israel; and no animal, or human, is more dangerous than when they are wounded, either physically... or with humans, geopolitically.

This is a very dangerous time for Israel; I hope that there are some "adults in the room" in the Knesset, telling him, "Bibi, not so fast here on this annexation, please!!"

Israel increases secretive nuclear stockpile to 90 warheads: Report

Israel may have increased its nuclear stockpile from 80 warheads in 2019 to 90 in 2020, according to a new report by a leading global arms watchdog.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (Sipri) said in its annual report on Monday that Israel, one of the world's nine nuclear powers, could be in possession of up to 90 nuclear warheads.

The watchdog said that the true number could be higher as Israel does not officially comment on its nuclear capabilities.

"There is significant uncertainty about the size of Israel's nuclear arsenal and its warhead capabilities," it said.

"Israel continues to maintain its long-standing policy of nuclear opacity: it neither officially confirms nor denies that it possesses nuclear weapons."

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder against whom in their neighborhood they are planning to use these weapons.

It sure looks like Trump and Adelson have cut a deal on annexation

So far, the Adelsons have gotten everything they’ve wanted from our transactional president: tearing up the Iran deal, moving the embassy to Jerusalem, defunding Palestinians, recognizing the Golan annexation, treating settlement expansion as legitimate, etc. Right up to yesterday — a Trump attack on the ICC in the name of Israel. As Trump once said when a Republican rival was getting Adelson’s money, Adelson wanted a “perfect little puppet.”

Most important, the Adelsons got the Trump “peace plan,” which paves the way for annexation of the West Bank. When Trump announced his “vision,” there they were in the front row.

Look at it from Trump’s point of view. He doesn’t care about peace in the Middle East or Palestinian human rights. He wants one thing, to win in November, and he needs money.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So that is why this annexation is being rushed to 1 July, and with potentially deadly consequences for Palestinians.

Israel and the US Step Up Efforts To Intimidate the Hague War Crimes Court

Now, the ICC’s chief prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, looks poised finally to give the court some teeth. She is threatening to investigate two states – the US and Israel – whose actions have been particularly damaging to international law in the modern era.

The court is considering examining widespread human rights abuses perpetrated by US soldiers in Afghanistan, and crimes committed by Israeli soldiers in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially Gaza, as well as the officials responsible for Israel’s illegal settlement program.

An investigation of both is critically important: the US has crafted for itself a role as global policeman, while Israel’s flagrant violations of international law have been ongoing for more than half a century.

The US is the most powerful offender, and Israel the most persistent.

Both states have long dreaded this moment – the reason they refused to ratify the Rome Statute that established the ICC.

Webmaster's Commentary:

No matter the findings, neither Israel or the US will take any responsibility for the evils they have perpetrated; both nations believe that they are above any international law.

Eyewitness: Caretaker shouted 'he's disabled' before soldier shot autistic Palestinian

The testimony matches that of Eyad Hallaq's caregiver. Meanwhile, the version of events recounted by two officers involved in the incident is inconsistent.

New eyewitness testimony in the shooting and killing of Eyad Hallaq, a 32-year-old autistic Palestinian man, in Jerusalem's Old City last Saturday, strengthens the suspicion that police shot him while he was lying on the ground, and after his counselor yelled that he was disabled.

The witness, A.R., a laborer, was in the garbage-bin space where Hallaq fled to get away from the police. According to his testimony, which was taken by B'Tselem investigator Amer Aruri on the day Hallaq was shot, A.R. was sitting in the garbage room ? a small, roofless structure used by sanitation workers on Sha'ar Ha'arayot Street.

Netanyahu vows all settlements will be annexed July 1, but other lands may wait

Meeting with West Bank mayors who have refrained from trashing Trump plan, PM also quoted saying that the territory conditionally offered to Palestinians doesn’t constitute a state.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told settler leaders on Sunday that he still intends to annex all West Bank settlements on the July 1 date that is the earliest allowed by his coalition deals, but he acknowledged that annexing other lands allocated to Israel under the Trump peace plan will likely take more time, several participants in the meeting told The Times of Israel.

The remarks reaffirmed Netanyahu’s self-declared July 1 target date for extending Israeli sovereignty to all West Bank settlements but also appeared to mark the first time he has admitted to long-reported delays by the joint US-Israeli team tasked with mapping out the further territories to be annexed, mainly in the Jordan Valley.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I have warned what passes for Palestinian leadership for years that if they didn't take a more decisive, but peaceful, stand for a Palestinian state, it wouldn't even be the size of Lichtenstein; I hate having been right on this.

With all other legal actions being barred to them, the Palestinians need to advocate, peacefully, for Israeli citizenship in the newly annexed areas; this appears to be their only possible representational salvation left.

Israel’s Netanyahu Says the Quiet Part Out Loud: Palestinians to be “Subjects,” Not Citizens in Apartheid Annexation

In an interview with corrupt casino mogul Sheldon Adelson’s free newspaper, Israel ha-Yom, Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu said the quiet parts out loud.

Although he did not use the word, he described an Apartheid regime in the Israeli-controlled Palestinian West Bank.

He openly referred to the stateless Palestinians as “subjects.”

Netanyahu will annex the Jordan Valley formally to Israel, where 60,000 Palestinians live and which is one of the areas Israel had pledged to relinquish to the Palestine Authority in the 1993 Oslo Accords. He will also annex the land on which Israeli squatters established settlements in Palestinian territory.

Israel ha-Yom asked, “Q: Nevertheless, several thousand Palestinians live in the Jordan Valley. Does that mean they will receive Israeli citizenship?”

Netanyahu replied:

Webmaster's Commentary:

Unless, and until, Palestinians become actual citizens of the territory Israel is about to annex in less than one month, they will have zero rights whatsoever, period, end of discussion.

I would like to hope that Palestinian "leadership" (or what passes for it these days), is considering how to accomplish this, peacefully, and soon.

Palestine: Even During a Pandemic, Israeli Soldiers Shoot Holes in Water Tanks at Kafr Qadum

As a result of Israel’s policy, Palestinians in the West Bank suffer severe water shortages and an irregular supply. To alleviate the hardship, residents place water tanks with volumes of 500 or 1,000 liters on their roofs to stock water during supply hours, for use during the many hours when there is no running water.

B’Tselem’s investigation indicates that the shooting is deliberate and has resulted in residents losing hundreds of liters of water. They will now have to purchase expensive new tanks at about 500 NIS (~125 USD) per unit. Since the beginning of April, soldiers have damaged 24 water tanks on rooftops of homes in the village, some more than once. In some homes, water tanks were damaged three or four times over a month and a half.

Webmaster's Commentary:

B’Tselem is an Israeli peace organisation for which I have the utmost respect.

They will expose the IDF's "dirty tricks" against the Palestinians with absolute, and complete, peaceful courage in these actions, understanding that they, too, may well be putting their lives, and the lives of their families, at risk, because of what they do.

Israeli Defense Minister Preparing for Annexation of West Bank

Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said on Monday that he ordered the military to start preparing for the coming annexation of parts of the West Bank. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans on annexing Israeli settlements in the West Bank, and parts of the Jordan Valley, a plan bound to face backlash from Palestinians. Netanyahu promised to start cabinet talks on annexation on July 1st.

The areas Israel plans to annex reflects the blueprint of President Trump’s “peace plan” that was released in January. The plan was immediately rejected by Palestinians since it includes the annexation of the Jordan Valley and illegal settlements. The plan also includes Israeli-only access roads in the West Bank, and would essentially legitimize apartheid rule.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Years ago, in various posts on this site, I warned Hamas and Fatah that if all they could accomplish was arguing among themselves, the hunk of land that they would get, to be able to establish a functional Palestine, would be smaller than Lichtenstein; now, because of the way the settlements have been engineered, coupled with this annexation, the Palestinians won't even have that, because there are no more contiguous borders for Palestine.

Folks, this "timetable" for annexation is less than one month away; this is most probably going to get ugly before it's a fait accompli.

Congress Is Poised to Pass Far-reaching Israeli Wish ListCongress is set to pass its most far-reaching bill related to Israel at the height of a national public health emergency.

With the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s passage of the United States-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act of 2020 last week, the current Congress is now poised to enact with little transparency its most far-reaching bill related to Israel at the height of a national public health emergency.

This MOU, pledging a record-breaking $38 billion for Israel between 2019 and 2028, solidified President Obama’s legacy as the president most munificent to Israel.

S.3176 would authorize $3.3 billion annually in FMF not as a ceiling, as negotiated by the Obama administration, but as a floor. The bill seeks to do so surreptitiously by amending existing statutory authorization for military aid to Israel by replacing an amount “equal to” with “not less than” $3.3 billion annually.

Israel’s Dirty Little Secret
In other words, if this bill were to become law, then Israel could receive even more weapons at US taxpayer expense than envisaged under Obama’s MOU.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Mr. President, this bill is absolutely, completely wrong-headed, and demonstrates, uncontrovertibly, to the Arab world, that the US is pathologically incapable of being an honest broker in the Middle East, if it ever was able to do that.

As long as this country has one Vet sleeping rough in our streets, this is way to much money to be paying to a "frenemy" like Israel, whose government consistently and collectively "relieves itself" on the American political class, then tells them it's raining.

NETANYAHU SAYS HE HAS BEEN FRAMED AS CORRUPTION TRIAL STARTS

Benjamin Netanyahu professed his innocence at the start of his corruption trial on Sunday, saying he was being framed in the first criminal prosecution of a serving Israeli prime minister.

"Polite Deflection Will No Longer Cut It" - US Pressures Israel To Sever Economic Ties With China

Since President Trump fired the first volley in the US-China trade war two years ago, tensions between the US and China have intensified to unprecedented levels, and the prospect of an armed confrontation between the world's two largest military and economic powers is becoming a tail risk worth considering, according to Wall Street luminaries like David Tepper.

How US enables Israeli occupation, apartheid and war crimes

The United States has been Israel’s biggest ally since its illegal creation in 1948, running roughshod over Palestinian rights while giving the Israeli regime a blank check to commit gross violations of human rights and international law.

The US supports Israel financially, militarily and diplomatically. It gives the regime $3.8 billion a year, most of which in military aid. As Israel’s closest ally, the US has vetoed dozens of resolutions at the UN Security Council condemning Israeli occupation, settlement activities and human rights violations.

Emboldened by Washington’s unconditional support, the Israeli regime has oppressed the Palestinians through unlawful killings, forced displacement, abusive detention and expansion of illegal settlements.

Successive US presidents have touted the so-called special relationship between Washington and Tel Aviv. President Donald Trump, however, has taken this to a whole new level.

ICC people should stay out of planes after Pompeo’s gangster style warning

Mike Pompeo is warning that there will be consequences if the International Criminal Court (ICC) investigates Israel. It sounds like a gangster style warning. Warning about ‘consequences' actually is often code for ‘we will kill you and your family’ among organized crime figures, and the people in politics who are basically organized crime types.

A famous example is when Dick Cheney threatened that there would be the "most extreme consequences for yourself, and the state of Minnesota" to Paul Wellstone. He said if Paul Wellstone continued to pursue the path he was on, opposing the invasion of Iraq - this was in 2003 - and also, threatening to try to investigate 9/11—well that part wasn't public—there would be extreme consequences and less than a week later, Wellstone, his wife, his daughter, and his entire campaign staff died in an extremely suspicious plane crash in perfectly good weather when the media apparently was ordered to report that there was bad weather.

US Headed For Another 'Tanker War' With Iran - This Time Off Venezuela's Coast

Iranian state TV has announced at least five least five Iranian-flagged tankers are transporting fuel to Venezuela through the Atlantic Ocean and plan to break the American blockade on the Latin American country.

Iran has warned that any US attempt at intercepting its fuel tankers "would have serious repercussions for the Trump administration ahead of the November elections."

State-funded PressTV underscores that "Iran is shipping tons of gasoline to Venezuela in defiance of US sanctions on both countries in a symbolic move guaranteed by Tehran’s missile prowess."

Both countries have been targeted under US sanctions and various levels of covert military action of late. President Trump has taken a personal interest in renewed pressure on Maduro, within the past months reportedly pushing his generals to go forward with a 'naval blockade' of the socialist nation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder just what those "measures" will be, to prevent a breakage of the blockade.

Back in March, China warned the US not to attempt to change the government ov Venezuela by force China warns of repeating history's mistakes with Venezuela

Of course, the US government didn't listen, but signed off on a disastrous attempt by would-be private Rambos, to attempt to "snatch and abduct" Maduro from his Presidential Palace, and bring him to the US (this attempt to abduct a Constitutionally elected President of a country was done through a signed contract, no less!), and these collective congenital idiots wound up getting caught and interrogated by Venezuelan authorities.

How completely stupid these people were, to believe that this was going to be a "walk in the park", and how stupid were the US governmental officials who signed off on this?!?

The short answer, unfortunately, is, VERY.

But what concerns me deeply here, is that President Trump may well feel he needs some kind of " intense distraction" from the current fallout of his handling of Covid-19, both medically and economically, and he may think that the Venezuelan/Iranian connection is "just the ticket"; so Mr. President, another word, please.

And would someone, cursed with having to read this website daily on the President's staff, PLEASE BREAK THIS CONCEPT DOWN IN SMALL WORDS, SO THE PRESIDENT UNDERSTANDS WHAT I AM SAYING HERE?!?

A year ago last Summer, the following article appeared in the Moscow Times, 26 June, 2019, English language edition:Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

The article goes on to state: "“Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow."

Mr. President, career Russian politicians like Kabulov do not even pass wind, without Putin's permission; if this statement was made, you can bet your sweet bippy, that this assurance comes straight from Putin, and the one thing for which he is known, both nationally, and internationally, is keeping his word.

Now, this guy is NOT the "poster child" for sainthood; far from it. However, when words come out of the mouths of his spokespeople, you can bet that he has "blessed" the saying of them, as Kabulov did in this summit.

We are NOT in a position, militarily, to pick a fight with Russia right now; and if your military, and those defense contractors who "sit at the table" when you dine, are not telling you this, they are not being honest with you.

You, and your team, need to get this fixed, and pronto.

And Mr. President; please move forward by picking your battles.... carefully.

Israel Perfecting Surveillance Tech

Israel’s external spy organization Mossad and its internal espionage equivalent Shin Bet have reputations that are much larger than their actual successes, but the one area where they have excelled is electronic intelligence gathering. Recent electronic spying around the White House and other federal buildings in Washington carried out by the Israeli Embassy demonstrates that Israel does not differentiate much between friends and enemies when it conducts espionage. In fact, spying targeting the U.S. is probably its number one priority due to the fact that the Jewish state is so heavily dependent on American support that it feels compelled to learn what discussions relating to it are taking place behind closed doors.

State Department: Annexation should be part of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks

Israeli deliberations about annexing parts of the West Bank should be part of discussions between Israel and the Palestinians on the Trump administration’s peace plan, the US State Department’s chief spokesperson said Friday.

The comments by Morgan Ortagus, made during a phone briefing with Israeli reporters, came after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made a lightning trip to Jerusalem Wednesday for talks with Israeli leaders on a number of issues.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Forgive me, but has this woman gone completely tone-deaf, blind, and barking dog mad, simultaneously?!?

With the upcoming annexation, there will be utterly no justice, and no peace, for the Palestinian people, period, end of discussion; and the US has enabled this annexation with its blessing of it!!!

Trump's alleged "peace plan" offered absolutely zero, zip, nada, to the Palestinian people, or what passes for its leadership; and that Jared Kushner believed, for a millisecond, that Palestinians would find the offer of increased financial capabilities, over a return to their homeland, as an "attractive deal" very much telegraphs his own absence of reason (and a critically deliberate misunderstanding of the region's history) on this issue as well.

May 17 05:40

Remembering 72 years of the Nakba in the shadow of annexation

When Palestinians commemorate the Nakba - the ethnic cleansing of Palestine in 1948 - they are not simply remembering a past event in which over 750,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homeland, over 400 villages and towns destroyed and thousands killed.
They are also marking a continued Nakba (al-Nakba al-Mustimirrah in Arabic) - an ongoing process of erasure and ethnic cleansing which has seen Palestinians ghettoised, fragmented, killed and more.

This year we will be marking 72 years of the Nakba and yet one word seems to be taking front and centre stage: annexation. Ever since the announcement of US President Donald Trump's 'Deal of the Century' at the end of January this year, formal annexation of the occupied West Bank by Israel has been looming.

Indeed, it is rumoured that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's visit to Netanyahu on Wednesday was to give the green light for the annexation of the Jordan Valley.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Since there will be no "two state solution" because of this annexation, the best for which Palestinians can hope, and advocate, (peacefully), is the right to vote, in this new Erez Israel.

And THAT has to happen for the Palestinian people just as quickly as is humanly possible.

Jordan's King Warns "Massive Conflict" Coming If Israel Moves To Annex West Bank

With Washington's backing, Israel is planning to move forward on controversial plans to annex a broad swath of the West Bank, particularly the Jordan Valley, as early as this summer. PM Netanyahu last month issued a likely time table of "within two months".

Arab nations, especially in the gulf, have remained uncharacteristically mum about the whole thing as they focus on countering Iran (which has, it should be noted, actually brought Saudi Arabia into a quiet 'covert' intelligence sharing relationship with Israel over the past couple years).

But Jordan on Friday finally went on the offensive, with King Abdullah telling the German magazine Der Spiegel that Israeli annexation of parts of the West Bank “will lead to a massive conflict with Jordan”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder what shape such a "massive conflict" with Jordan will take, in light of the fact that it cannot defeat Israel, militarily.

US threatens ICC with ‘consequences’ if it acts on war crimes complaint against Israel filed by ‘fake’ Palestinian state

Arguing that Palestine doesn’t “qualify as a sovereign state” and that the International Criminal Court lacks jurisdiction over Israel, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has threatened “consequences” for any “illegitimate” probes.
Following his trip to Israel this week, Pompeo issued a brief statement, denouncing the ongoing efforts by the ICC to investigate allegations of war crimes against Palestinians, including the use of live ammunition against protesters, the demolition and shelling of civilian homes and infrastructure, and forcible relocations as part of Israel’s settlement projects in the occupied territories.

“The United States reiterates its longstanding objection to any illegitimate ICC investigations,” wrote Pompeo, blasting the ICC as “a political body, not a judicial institution,” and arguing that it has no “jurisdiction over Israel, which like the United States, is not a party to the Rome Statute that created the court.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

Having a card-carrying "Rapture-centric" individual as one's Secretary of State, can be hazardous to a Nation's reputation, as well as it's future, no matter how much certain US Evangelicals may cheer him.

Neither Israel or the US are signatories to the ICC, because it is understood by the governments of both countries, that they both commit war crimes, in their quests to obtain their geopolitical agendas.

When a man of the reputation, and moral weight, as has South African Anglican Archbishop Emeritus, and Peace Nobel Laureate Bishop Desmond Tutu, makes the observation that Israel has, or may have committed war crimes, I will believe this guy any day over Secretary of State Pompeo, because as a chief architect of South Africa's move from apartheid to a somewhat more representative government for South Africa's Black population (although, unfortunately, the ANC has failed South Africa utterly), the guy knows what the hell he is talking about.

Israel wrecks efforts to halt spread of COVID-19

It has been two months since the occupied West Bank went into coronavirus lockdown and rural Palestinian towns and villages have been disproportionately impacted by the disease.

The virus was first diagnosed in the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem in early March. Since then, it has spread to districts across the West Bank, with many new cases being reported outside of major cities.

The Palestinian Authority’s jurisdiction only really covers 18 percent of the West Bank. Known as Area A, that zone includes such cities as Ramallah, Bethlehem, Jenin and Nablus.

Although the PA is theoretically responsible for security in these cities, Israel has often subjected them to military raids – with the acquiescence of the world’s most powerful governments and institutions.

How We Became Refugees: The Day My Grandfather Lost His Village in Palestine

Starting on March 27, 1948, a beautiful, small Palestinian village called Beit Daras, came under Zionist militias attacks. With little means – a few old rifles and kitchen knives – the Badrasawis fought back, repelling the first raid and the second. The final attack on the peaceful village followed a scorched-earth military strategy, leaving in its wake scores of dead and wounded, and the entirety of the village on the run. Among the thousands of ethnically-cleansed Palestinians in Beit Daras, a family of six, including an infant, salvaged a few old blankets and some supplies and went searching for a safe place, with the hope that they would return home in a few days. Their nearly one hundred descendants are yet to return to Beit Daras, 72 years later.

Report: Israel wants to buy Palestinians’ silence ahead of annexation

Military analyst for Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, Alex Fishman, said yesterday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is planning to buy the Palestinians’ silence over the annexation of Palestinian-held territories with “cash”.

Fishman said, while the new Israeli government is being formed, the scheduled annexation is nearing and Israel is using money to soften the Palestinians’ reaction over its plan to annex swaths of the occupied West Bank.

According to Fishman, as Israeli occupation forces arrest Palestinians during overnight raids in an effort to stop mass protests as a result of the plans to seize the Palestinian land, the government is offering to revive and nourish the Palestinian economy with hand-outs to placate Palestinians.

Church leaders warn against Israel plans to annex West Bank

Moving forwards with an Israeli plan to unilaterally annex West Bank land will destroy any chance for peace, warned church leaders in Jerusalem.

In a letter addressed to the Israeli government, church leaders highlighted: “Serious and catastrophic questions about the feasibility of any peaceful agreement to end the decades’ long conflict.”

The Anglican archbishop in Jerusalem, Suheil Dawani, is one of 13 senior church leaders to put their names to the statement calling on Israel not to unilaterally annex land in the occupied West Bank.

These proposed annexations, promised by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his election campaign, have been heavily criticised by humanitarian organisations and the international community.
