Three top Israeli hospitals and a non-profit organization that provides food and necessities to disadvantaged communities are to receive millions in donations from Israeli real estate and shipping magnate Eyal Ofer to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.

The Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan, the Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) in Tel Aviv, and the Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa will receive NIS 3 million each and the Latet organization will get NIS 1 million for a total donation from Ofer of NIS 9.97 million ($2.8 million), Israeli media reported this week.

America, We Have To End the Wars Now

Can anyone think what our society might have spent six and a half trillion dollars on instead of 20 years of war in the Middle East for nothing? How about the trillion dollars per year we keep spending on the military on top of that?

Invading, dominating and remaking the Arab world to serve the interests of the American empire and the state of Greater Israel sounds downright quaint at this point. Iraq War II, as Senator Bernie Sanders said in the debate a few weeks ago, while letting Joe Biden, one of its primary proponents, off the hook for it, was “a long time ago.” Actually, Senator, we still have troops there fighting Iraq War III 1/2 against what’s left of the ISIS insurgency, and our current government continues to threaten the launch of Iraq War IV against the very parties we fought the last two wars for. This would almost certainly then lead to war with Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Doing things in precisely the same way, over and over and over again, yet expecting a different outcome, is one of the classic definitions of insanity.

Israeli Forces Demolish Emergency Coronavirus Clinic for Palestinians

Israeli forces on Thursday entered a Palestinian village in the northern Jordan Valley to confiscate materials designated to build a clinic to deal with the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Officials from the Israeli Civil Administration came to the village of Khirbet Ibziq with a military escort, bulldozer and two trucks equipped with cranes on Thursday morning to demolish community clinic and emergency housing, according to Israeli human rights monitor Btselem.

Iraqi resistance forces say fully prepared ahead of reported US operation

Iraqi resistance forces say they stand fully ready to confront any possible act of aggression by the US military, which is widely reported to be gearing up for operations against the positions of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) -- an elite pro-government anti-terror force

Is US readying itself to re-invade and occupy Iraq?

By Robert Inlakesh

In the wake of the great escalation of January 2020, ultimately resulting in the retreat of United States forces, situated across Iraq, down to a few key bases around Baghdad that now come under regular rocket attack by local anti-occupation resistance groups, American strategic planners are confronted with only two choices: leave Iraq or launch a full-scale shock attack operation in the country's west and subsequent occupation of the area to regain the strategic initiative.

The US finds itself in its current position in Iraq, for the first time since the North Korean army invasion of South Korea in 1950 - an event which nearly threw American troops, at Pusan, into the sea and forced them to fight a protracted defense.

For a military force whose historical doctrine has been to 'attack, attack, attack', America’s current position in Iraq is terribly awkward and uncharacteristic of the usual predicament of total superiority it generally finds itself in.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Inlakesh puts together a brilliant, and thoughtful, scenario here; but there is a question which remains unasked in this article: should the US do this,
what will Russia do, in light of the fact that one of its chief politicians, told his Iranian counterpart last summer, that if Iran is attacked by the US, it will not stand alone.

Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

This came out in the English language edition of the Moscow times on 26 June, 2019; why do I seem to be the only person still standing who remembers this being said?!??

This.... is literally the 5,000 lb polar bear, lounging on the Bosendorfer Baby Grand, on this issue.

But there is one thing that Inlakesh got absolutely correctly; this has to happen before the US end of the Covid-19 shut-down, which is, at this moment, is set for Friday, 1 May, 2020; this gives the Federal Government 30 days to either retreat entirely from Iraq, or use it, and Saudi Arabia, as the bases from which to ultimately attack Iran.

I am an American who cares greatly about this country, and the future trajectory of both its domestic and foreign policies. I care greatly about our men and women in uniform, so I am respectfully asking the civilian government in the US to use both restraint, and wisdom, in their deployment here.

A war with Russia over Iran?!?

There is nothing Israel's Netanyahu would love to see happen more than this.

But if there were any possible scenario which could create at something perceivedly good for Israel, but which would be card-carryingly horrible for We the People, I can hardly think of a worse one than this one could create.

And before I end this post, Mr. President, would you please have someone break the following down for you, in digestible format, and that would be the following.

'But Sir, It’s an American Ship.' 'Never Mind, Hit Her!' When Israel Attacked USS Liberty

Mr. President, with "friends" like this......?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I'm just saying.

US Deploys Patriot Missiles in Iraq Bases Hosting US Troops

Recent US fighting with Iraqi militias has seen bases in the country hosting US troops coming under rocket fire, and this has led to the US trying to get more Patriot missiles into Iraq to intercept such rockets. The first missile systems are now set up, at Ayn al-Assad base, and in Irbil.

The US appears to be trying to move away from having troops scattered around Iraq, closing multiple bases in the west, and reportedly has missiles in Kuwait ready to be sent to two more US bases inside Iraq in the days to come.

Details on the diplomacy with Iraq on these deployments are unclear. The US has talked about wanting the missiles in Iraq since January, but it has never been confirmed that Iraq signed off on such deployment. Since the deployment is roughly intended to thwart attacks by Iraqi paramilitaries who are essentially part of Iraq’s security forces, this is potentially problematic for Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One wonders, with all the Covid-19 "smoke screens" going on in this country, if this generally ignored deployment is intended to start a land war with Iran, even though it is reeling from its own issues with Covid 19.

US Repositions Troops in Iraq, Preparing for Fight Against Iran

Initially announced weeks ago, the US withdrawal of troops from western Iraq and concentration in the east looks more and more like preparation for another confrontation with neighboring Iran. Recent reports suggest that is one policy being advocated.

On Friday, reports suggested that the Pentagon had been ordered, by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to start planning to wipe out certain Iraqi militias which they believe are Iranian proxies. Officials say the administration is increasingly divided on the plan.

Lt. Gen. Robert White was very averse to this idea, saying it would require the US bring in thousands of more troops, and divert from existing missions. He also warned it risks starting a war with Iran, which at least some of the proponents consider very much the point.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump, a word, please!!!

Just a thought, sir; what will the optics look like in November if we wage a full-fledged war against Iran, a war in which Russia has already promised to participate on Iran's side?!?

Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

Your problem with your perspective on Iran is, that you can only see its geopolitics through the rather jaundiced and horrifically prejudicial, "vision" of one of your BFFs in the Middle East, specifically, that of one Israeli Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu.

And Mr. President, please don't think for a millisecond, that there are not elements of the Israeli government which are, as I type this, conjuring up all kinds of scenarios as the "perfect false flag" with which to "sucker in" the American government to fight Iran, and consequently, Russia.

And sir, if you doubt me for even a second, please re-acquaint yourself with the real history of the USS Liberty incident in 1967:

'But Sir, It’s an American Ship.' 'Never Mind, Hit Her!' When Israel Attacked USS Liberty

Israeli military confiscates Palestinian field clinic for virus victims — B’Tselem’s ‘shocking’ report

This morning, Thursday, 26 March 2020, at around 7:30 am, officials from Israel’s Civil Administration in the West Bank arrived with a military jeep escort, a bulldozer and two flatbed trucks with cranes at the Palestinian community of Khirbet Ibziq in the northern Jordan Valley. They confiscated poles and sheeting that were meant to form eight tents, two for a field clinic, and four for emergency housing for residents evacuated from their homes, and two as makeshift mosques. The force also confiscated a tin shack in place for more than two years, as well as a power generator and sacks of sand and cement. Four pallets of cinder blocks intended for the tent floors were taken away and four others demolished.

A Week After Polish Engineers Announce Cheap Open-Source Ventilator Project, Israelis Steal It For Themselves

Last week, Polish engineers announced the VentilAid project to design inexpensive open-source ventilators using 3-D printing technology:

Engineers and designers from Poland-based Urbicum have banded together to launch the VentilAid project, an effort to design an open-source ventilator which can be reproduced using a 3D printer and an assembly of basic, easily accessible parts. The open-source ventilator is being designed to help medical professionals in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in cases where more traditional hospital resources are limited or exhausted.

“We are facing a serious threat due to COVID-19,” the VentilAid team writes on its website. “Most of the countries are suffering severe shortage of medical equipment, that cannot be produced and delivered in a short time. Ventilators are essential to keep breathing when faced with the complications of COVID-19.”

Lockdown Lunacy

Former Ministry of Health director-general Prof. Yoram Lass has been regularly interviewed by the Israeli media since the coronavirus outbreak first started. But in contrast to the prophets of doom and deep concern shown by most medical professionals, he has presented a somewhat different and controversial opinion. Prof. Lass feels that it is wrong to shut down the entire country because of a virus that is ultimately less of a killer than the flu. In other words, he is saying that taking into account the cost benefits, it is preferable ‘to sacrifice’ the elderly so that daily life can go on as normal. This is an outlook that has antagonized many and has made him a ‘persona non grata’ in the TV interview studios.

Lass is at peace with himself over all this and with the voices calling him ‘deluded.” “I didn’t invite myself to the studios,” he told “Globes,” “and I’m prepared to give my opinion to everybody who is ready to listen.”

As the World Turns Its Attention to the Pandemic, Israel Is Moving Forward with Military Raids

he West Bank situation is becoming increasingly complicated amid the coronavirus pandemic and territorial disputes between Palestinians and Israelis. At first, the Palestinian Authority and Israel showed signs of cooperation in combating the pandemic. A few weeks ago, joint measures were announced between both sides to contain the epidemic of the new coronavirus in the region. The measures include distribution of cleaning and personal hygiene materials, in addition to virus testing kits and medical equipment.

On the part of Tel Aviv, the total closure of the West Bank was promoted, allowing, however, access for Palestinian workers involved in the construction and agriculture sectors to the Jewish state, which is why the proposal was well accepted by Ramallah. On the part of the Palestinians, the West Bank has also been blocked, but only partially and for two weeks, since last Sunday (March 22), in addition to the implementation of a series of control and quarantine measures.

Coronavirus: Israeli settlers exploit lockdown to annex Palestinian land

Israeli settlers are exploiting a lockdown, imposed in the occupied West Bank to slow down the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, to annex Palestinian land and launch attacks against Palestinian civilians and their homes.

Over the past week, there have been at least three incidents of residents of illegal Israeli settlements razing Palestinian lands and paving roads in the districts of Nablus, Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

There has also been a spike in attacks against Palestinians and their properties, with Middle East Eye documenting abuses in the villages of Madama, Burqa and Burin.

How Corona Could Backfire

How Corona Could Backfire

It looks pretty grim but corona still could have an upside.

So far, the most ‘tangible’ impact of the corona scare is everyone’s out of toilet paper.

But we may not be caught off guard again.

Having a month’s worth of staples on hand will make us less prone to panic next time around.

‘Prepperism’ has now reached main stream America.

Dried foods, water purifiers, wood stoves, generators, gardens, AND firearms, will be found now in countless homes.

‘Self-reliance’ is quite visible at gun stores now.

For with cops answering only critical calls, people see the need to rely on themselves—not the government—for protection.

Just look at the ‘education crisis’ brought on by corona.

Pompeo and Netanyahu Paved a Path to War With Iran, and They’re Pushing Trump Again

by Gareth Porter Posted on March 21, 2020

The administration of President Donald Trump may escape the most recent conflict with Iran without war, however, a dangerous escalation is just over the horizon. And as before, the key factors driving the belligerence are not outraged Iraqi militia leaders or their allies in Iran, but Trump’s secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has long sought to draw the US into a military confrontation with Iran.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Folks, this push for war with Iran, under Trump's watch, will not end well.

Even though Iran is reeling from the effects of an horrific Covid 19 epidemic, not one single US-engineered sanction will be lifted, to speed the delivery of desperately needed drugs, food, and aid for this beleaguered country.

Right now, President Trump isn't looking at any attack on Iran's alleged "proxies" in Iran, because the optics would be awful; that, of course, is no guarantee that the Israeli intelligence, or military, hasn't got several "false flags" up their collective sleeves, to be "green lit" at the moment when Netanyahu needs "maximum coverage and distraction" away from his corruption trials, which began last Tuesday, 17 March Court Denies Request for Delays in Netanyahu's Corruption Trials

Netanyahu desperately needs a distraction here, and damned quickly; what better "distraction" than an alleged "Iranian attack" against either Israeli or US assets in the Middle East, to which President Trump would be "obligated to respond"?!?

But I would, very politely, like to mention (again) to all Foggy Bottomites (and their underlings, occasionally "cursed" with having to read this blog) that last Summer at a gathering in Moscow, a Moscow politician assured his Iranian counterparts that should Iran be attacked, it "would not be alone."
Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

The article goes on to state: "“Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow.

When asked if Russia was ready to provide material support to Iran if the U.S. attacks it, Kabulov said that “specific actions are a question for the Russian president.”

“But it’s not just Russia, many other countries sympathize and empathize with Iran,” the Kommersant business daily quoted him as saying. “Tehran won’t be alone if the U.S., God forbid, takes wild and irresponsible actions against it.”

You can bet your sweet bippie, that Kabulov would never have made that statement, unless he had full, and completely supported, support from Putin to say it.

War with Russia over Iran?!?

Folks, please think about this; because the next time the Unhinged, Surveilled, State of Amerika re-introduces a draft, it will be not only becoming for your your sons, but also your daughters as well.

Israeli MP presents bills to annex Jordan Valley, impose death penalty on Palestinians

A right-wing Israeli parliamentarian submitted two bills to the Knesset on Wednesday seeking to permanently annex the Jordan Valley, the northern Dead Sea and the Hebron desert in the occupied West Bank to Israel, as well as impose the death penalty on Palestinian political prisoners.

Miki Zohar, the head of the Likud faction in the Knesset, said that the two bills he submitted would “embarrass” former army general Benny Gantz of the Blue and White party and Avigdor Lieberman of Yisrael Beitenu.

Gantz is currently speaking with Israeli parties to form a coalition government after receiving a thin majority last week from Israeli Knesset members.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the leader of Likud party, is maintaining contact with Gantz in a bid to form a national unity government, though the chances are slim that the two rivals will find common ground.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Hey, Zohar, let the Israeli people and the Knesset know how you REALLY FEEL about the Palestinians!!!

Apparently, irony is completely lost on this guy, who has utterly zero idea of just how horrific these suggestions are to rational people, even to some of the most hard-core Zionists in both this country, and in Israel.

What's next, if you have your way, forced Palestinian infanticide, Zohar?!?

And why am I having this deadening "thud", right across my solar plexus, as though he has already thought about this?!?

‘Zionist’ Biden in His Own Words: ‘My Name is Joe Biden, and Everybody Knows I Love Israel’

“I am a Zionist. You don’t have to be a Jew to be a Zionist,” current Democratic Presidential candidate, Joe Biden, said in April 2007, soon before he was chosen to be Barack Obama’s running mate in the 2008 elections.

Biden is, of course, correct, because Zionism is a political movement that is rooted in 20th century nationalism and fascism. Its use of religious dogmas is prompted by political expediency, not spirituality or faith.

Unlike US President, Donald Trump, or Bernie Sanders, Biden’s only serious opponent in the Democratic primaries, Biden’s stand on Israel is rarely examined.

Trump has made his support for Israel the cornerstone of his foreign policy agenda since his inauguration into the White House in January 2017. The American President has basically transformed into Israel’s political genie, granting Tel Aviv all of its wishes in complete defiance of international law.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Again, no matter who one votes for as President in November, US foreign policy toward Israel and the Middle East will not change to one of more even-handedness; fairness; and truly listening to the legitimate complaints of countries in the region against Israeli policies.

So, I have a caveat to share; no matter if Trump or Biden wins this election, be prepared to sacrifice your sons and daughters for more, endless wars in the Middle East, as the US government re-institutes the draft to secure Israel's position in the region.

Iraq envoy to UN threatens arrest of US troops for attacks on pro-Iran militias

Iraq’s envoy to the UN threatened on Tuesday to arrest US troops in the country for carrying out air strikes on Iranian-backed Iraqi militias in the country amid rising tensions between US troops and pro-Iranian groups.

The US “perpetrators will be arrested and held accountable” for the attacks on the Iraqi militias last week, said Iraq’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mohammed Hussein Bahr al-Uloom in a draft letter seen by Al Arabiya English.

Iran supports militias in Iraq operating under the umbrella of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU). The US has designated some of the PMU militias, including Katai'b Hezbollah, as terrorist organizations and increasingly come into conflict with them as the US and Iran compete for influence in Iraq.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Let me ask; did you see this headline in any Corporate Presstitute outlet, yesterday, or today?!?

Would you not think that this would be a story of extreme interest to the American people, particularly since it was spelled out at the UN, in New York?!?

Folks, the situation in Iraq is in intense melt-down, and although the current Iraqi government is doing their best to get occupying US and NATO forces out of the country, and trying to do it the "honorable way" (i.e., raising holy hell at the UN, as they did yesterday), they are not going to be successful in this endeavor.

Look for more Guerrilla fighting, particularly by Shia-aligned forces, against US and NATO troops.

And folks, here is my bet; the fighters are most probably not Iranian nationals; they are most probably Iraqis Shias, who simply want their country back from US/NATO control; and the question I have to ask, nearly 17 years after the original attack (March 20, 2003) and occupation of Iraq by the US, can we really, honestly blame them?!?

NETANYAHU GIVES HIMSELF BROAD PHONE TAPPING POWERS TO FIGHT "INVISIBLE ENEMY" CORONAVIRUS

SOURCE: ZERO HEDGE
Over the weekend we noted with alarm that the Israeli government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is now tapping counter-terror forces and technology to fight the "invisible enemy" of the coronavorus - as Netanyahu put it in a Saturday address.

“We will very soon begin using technology... digital means that we have been using in order to fight terrorism,” Netanyahu had said. Among these new "emergency measures" include broader domestic phone tapping powers as part of the counter-terror technology initiative, as AP reports:

Netanyahu’s Cabinet on Sunday authorized the Shin Bet security agency to use its phone-snooping tactics on coronavirus patients, an official confirmed, despite concerns from civil-liberties advocates that the practice would raise serious privacy issues. The official spoke on condition of anonymity pending an official announcement.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Why do I get the feeling that government leadership is not all that concerned with actually controlling the spread of the virus, per se, but controlling the people the virus may effect?!?

Remember that phrase so adored by Rahm Emanuel, "Never let a good crisis go to waste."?!?

I think we are going to see that, writ large, by many governments around the world, in the coming weeks and months, under the "excuse" of controlling the virus.

The Coronavirus and the New World Order:“War is in the Air”"Time is out of joint..." – "Something is Rotten in the State of Denmark". William Shakespeare from his tragedy Hamlet

The worldwide fear of a hitherto unknown but supposedly highly contagious and weapons-grade virus means that many people feel paralysed, public life in several states is crippled by governments, at the same time fundamental civil liberties are “honed” or severely restricted and also the military is brought into readiness. What is going on here?

The former Soviet head of state Mikhail Gorbachev recently described the current political situation as extremely worrying. According to “Sputnik News” of 12.03.20 he wrote: “War is in the air.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

BUMP TO THE TOP

What concerns me most gravely right now, are statements from the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, regarding alleged "Iranian Paramilitary Activity", hitting the US's crumbling military stance in Iraq right now, where both the Iraqi people, and military, are demanding that the US military leave the country, and right the hell now.

We found this "little gem" in rt.com, their English language edition, yesterday: US will act in ‘self-defense’ if attacked in Iraq – Pompeo

The article went on to state: "Washington will act in “self-defense” in Iraq if its military comes under attack, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said. US bases in Iraq have been repeatedly shelled recently and several servicemen have been killed and injured.

Pompeo told Iraqi PM Adil Abd al-Mahdi that Baghdad “must defend Coalition personnel supporting the Iraqi government's efforts to defeat ISIS,” the US Department of State said in a statement on Monday.

Those “responsible for the attacks must be held accountable,” the official warned, adding that Washington “will not tolerate attacks and threats to American lives” and will take “action as necessary in self-defense."

And right below that, we see the following headline: "Baghdad Summons US and British Envoys after condemning their strikes on Iraqi Targets as "violation of Sovereignty". The article goes on to state:

"Over the past week the US Camp Taji base, located north of Iraq’s capital, came under rocket shelling twice. On Wednesday, three soldiers, two from the US and one from the UK, were killed at the installation, while a dozen others were injured. Iraqi military personnel were affected by the attack as well.

While no one claimed responsibility for the deadly shelling, Washington was quick to blame Iraqi Shia militias for it and launched “retaliatory” airstrikes on them. Since said militias are an integral part of the Iraqi military, the US basically bombed its own allies, killing at least six servicemen and wounding several more."

So I have to ask; under what possible geopolitical circumstance, could this possibly make sense, in Pompeo's weltanschauung?!?

The answer becomes frighteningly real, from an except of the following article last year, in an interview Pompeo did, where he made the following statements, as recorded by bbcnews.com:;
Pompeo says God may have sent Trump to save Israel from Iran
The article goes on to state:

"US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said it is "possible" that President Donald Trump was sent by God to save Israel from Iran.

In an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network during a high-profile trip to Israel, he said it was his faith that made him believe that.

He also praised US efforts to "make sure that this democracy in the Middle East, that this Jewish state, remains".

The comments came on a Jewish holiday celebrating rescue from genocide.

The holiday, Purim, commemorates the biblical rescue of the Jewish people by Queen Esther from the Persians, as the interviewer noted to Mr Pompeo.

What did Pompeo say?

He was asked if "President Trump right now has been sort of raised for such a time as this, just like Queen Esther, to help save the Jewish people from an Iranian menace".

"As a Christian, I certainly believe that's possible," said Mr Pompeo, a former member of Congress for Kansas and CIA director.

"I am confident that the Lord is at work here," he added."

OK, there you have it folks; to energize their evangelical base, a "faith-based" foreign policy has been put into play, which consistently demonizes Iran, and consistently characterises Israel as "the innocent party", in geopolitical affairs when most of the time, nothing could be further from the truth.

There's a phrase in DC, the originator of which I cannot recall at the moment, but it goes something like this; "Never let a good crisis go to waste"; now having said that, Covid 19, and its monumental spread, does comprise a health crisis of huge concern.

But please also note, today, in RT, there is a very serious article at the top of the blog with the following headline: US halts deployment & recalls troops from NATO’s biggest drill ‘Defender Europe 2020’ due to coronavirus threat

Sounds good, and reasonable, on the surface, doesn't it?!?

But what if there are other deployments to come for these military personnel, which may well not be announced beforehand?!?

I would like to politely speculate that these battles in Iraq against alleged "Iranian militia" at US Camp Taji base, and beyond, may well be only the "beginning here; the US government is flailing, in both Iraq, and in its Covid 19 response, and President Trump well knows that a combination of the wall-street melt-down with a "too-little too late" response to the pandemic, will most likely result in his 2020 candidacy going up in absolute flames, unless he "does something dramatic."

So please, do not bet that a war against Iran, and ultimately against Russia, which has declared their support for Iran should the US attack it (and publicly: Iran won't be alone if the US attacks it, says Russian official), is off the table for these people, particularly for Pompeo.

Outrage over Lebanese court acquittal of notorious Israeli agent ‘under US pressure’

A Beirut tribunal has dropped charges against an Israeli collaborator accused of overseeing the torture and killing of captives at a prison facility in southern Lebanon some two decades ago, in a verdict that the Hezbollah resistance movement and rights activists say was issued under pressure from the US.

Amer Fakhoury — a dual Lebanese-American national — was accused of murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and torture while presiding over Khiam Prison run by the Israeli-sponsored South Lebanon Army (SLA)militia group — formed by army defectors — during the regime’s 1982-2000 occupation of southern Lebanon.

Widely known as the ‘Butcher of Khiam,’ he fled Lebanon along with hundreds of other SLA members after the Lebanese army, backed by Hezbollah, drove Israel out of the country in 2000.

Israeli Shin Bet's involvement in coronavirus crisis raises questions

Israel has given its spy agency Shin Bet the green light to use "counter-terrorism" operations against those infected with a new coronavirus, treating the pandemic as a security menace.

Speaking at a news conference in Jerusalem al-Quds on Saturday, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the China-originated virus, also called COVID-19, as an "invisible enemy."

He announced that cyber tech monitoring would be deployed to locate people who have been in contact with those carrying the coronavirus.

“We will very soon begin using technology ... digital means that we have been using in order to fight terrorism,” he said.

“Up until today I avoided using these measures in the civilian population but there is no choice,” Netanyhahu added.

Netanyahu's Tall in Saddle, Gantz is Losing Grip, But High Court of Justice May Ruin the Game

Israelis may go to the polls again if Knesset members fail to form a majority government again. This possibility does not frighten Benjamin Netanyahu, says Israeli publicist Yuri Moor outlining reasons behind the crisis and three potential scenarios of how the situation may unfold.

On Wednesday, President Reuven Rivlin called upon Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Kahol Lavan's Benny Gantz to adopt his plan envisaging the formation of a unity government to end the longstanding political stalemate. As of yet, neither Likud nor Kahol Lavan has managed to create a governing coalition prompting speculations about a fourth vote.

ON MARCH 16, 23-year old Rachel Corrie, a Palestinian rights activist working with the International Solidarity Movement, stood in front of an Israeli bulldozer in the city of Rafah in Gaza.

For three hours, there had been a standoff, as Rachel and others blocked the bulldozer from demolishing a Palestinian home. Activists at the scene say that the driver of the bulldozer knew that Rachel was in front of him--and deliberately drove toward her.

Gaza: Murdering Children for Sport

Ayman Mohyeldin was an Egyptian reporter for al-Jazeera English who had covered dozens of major events in the Middle East for many American and other networks. His reputation was enormous, and his reporting on the Israeli assault on Gaza was such a stellar journalistic performance that NBC “aggressively pursued him to leave Al Jazeera, paying him far more than the standard salary . . .” His new assignment for NBC was to cover Israel and Palestine, a task greatly assisted by his ability to speak Arabic and his intimate knowledge of the Middle East and its history.

But in July of 2014 Mohyeldin was abruptly removed from NBC by David Verdi, a top NBC executive, who ordered Mohyeldin to leave Gaza immediately. NBC attributed Mohyeldin’s removal to unspecified “security concerns”, but there was an additional factor at play. (1)

Israel kills 10,000th Palestinian since 2000, US media largely ignore it

Israeli forces invading Palestinian Territory have just killed a 15-year-old unarmed Palestinian boy. A sniper shot him in the head with an expanding bullet. This is the 10,000th Palestinian killed by an Israeli since the round of violence that began in fall 2000. The boy was reportedly shot in the face.

During the same period, Palestinians have killed 1,270 Israelis. See the list and details on this Timeline of Israeli and Palestinian deaths.

Because US media rarely cover Palestinian deaths, while often emphasizing Israeli deaths, most Americans are unaware that Israeli forces have killed far more people than Palestinian resistance groups, and that Israel kills first in nearly all cycles of violence.

Victories continue to mount against pro-Israel defamation campaign

Libelling human rights activists who expose the brutal reality of Israel’s seemingly never-ending military occupation of Palestine has been the standard modus operandi of anti-Palestinian groups. This tactic has been relatively successful in recent years because a number of western governments, including Britain’s, view vocal support for Palestine and opposition to Israel’s brutal occupation through the lens of “Palestinian terrorism” and not, as one would expect, within the context of the legitimate right to resist occupation as well as oppose racism. Moreover, a controversial “working definition of antisemitism” which conflates criticism of Israel with anti-Jewish hostility, has empowered advocates of Israel to defame critics of the Zionist state and the racist ideology that underpins it.

Palestinian teen killed during village’s attempt to defend mountain from Israeli settlers

For the Palestinians of the northern occupied West Bank, putting your life on the line to defend your land is just a part of life.

Countless Palestinians have paid the highest price for attempting to fend off Israeli settlers and soldiers from their cities, towns and villages. On Wednesday, another Palestinian was added to that list.

15-year-old Mohammed Abdel Karim Hamayel succumbed to his wounds on Wednesday, hours after he was shot by Israeli forces, along with dozens of other young men from his hometown of Beita, south of Nablus.

Hamayel was shot when dozens of armed Israeli troops stormed Jabal al-Arma, or al-Arma Mountain, on the outskirts of Beita, and began violently confronting crowds of Palestinians who were staging a sit-in on the mountain.

MAGA congressman wants Trump administration to kill ‘anti-American and pro-BDS’ Arizona Mideast studies program

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) is calling for the Department of Education to investigate the Center for Middle East Studies (CMES) at the University of Arizona. Gosar argues that the program has misused federal money and should have its funding stripped away by the Trump administration.

On February 24, Gosar sent a letter to Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos claiming that the program is “anti-American and pro-BDS.” One of the examples Gosar cites is a piece by CMES associate professor Maha Nassar that ran on this site two years ago. Nassar’s piece argued that the attempts by pro-Israel groups to demonize Students for Justice in Palestine would only end up strengthening the organization.

Israel’s electoral struggle for racial purity

The recent Israeli elections, the third within a year, have predictably failed to produce a straightforward Zionist majority, neither for the right-wing nor for the center-left. But, the math could work out for a “minority government” by the center-left, if the Joint List, representing mostly Palestinian citizens of Israel were to offer its outside support. The Joint List got 15 seats this time, a record. If that number is added to Blue White’s 33, Labor-Gesher-Meretz’s 7, and Avigdor Liberman’s Yisrael Beitenu’s 7, it adds up to 62 votes in favor of the government, which is a majority in the 120-seat parliament. The point of this would be to garner more recommendations for Benny Gantz as Prime Minister than the right-wing bloc can garner for Netanyahu (which is 58).

‘NYT’ publishes Netanyahu’s ‘terror’ smear against Palestinian pols and doesn’t seek their response

Two articles in today’s New York Times show that the paper is belatedly waking up about Palestinian citizens of Israel and their growing role in Israeli elections, but the Times still has a long ways to go before it tells the full truth.

Patrick Kingsley’s report does focus on the Joint List, the coalition of “Arab-led” political parties that increased their strength to 15 seats in the next Israeli Parliament, making it once again the third-largest force in the country. He actually quotes four Palestinian citizens of Israel, who are usually non-persons in the Times, (although he relies for ‘expert analysis’ on Louis Fishman, a professor at Brooklyn College). He also mentions the Joint List’s leader, Ayman Odeh, describing him as “a charismatic lawyer” who possesses “eloquence and approachability.”

B’Tselem rejects Israel Attorney General’s objection to ICC jurisdiction

Leading Israeli human rights organisation B’Tselem has described the country’s Attorney General’s objection to International Criminal Court (ICC) jurisdiction in Palestine as “divorced from reality”.

In a new position paper published yesterday, B’Tselem said that the Attorney General’s claims that the ICC lacks jurisdiction “rely on intentional misquotation, disregard for international law and an absurd misrepresentation of reality”.

In his memorandum, Attorney General Dr. Avichai Mandelblit, whose legal opinion represents the Israeli government, argued that “only sovereign states can be members of the Rome Statute and delegate their jurisdiction to the ICC”, and that Palestine is not such a state.

EU Condemns Netanyahu Promise to Build Settlement Homes in West Bank’s E1 Area

Israeli court rejects Netanyahu request to delay trial

An Israeli court on Tuesday rejected Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request to delay the start of his corruption trial, clearing the way for proceedings to begin as planned next week.

Netanyahu’s lawyers had appealed for a delay, saying they needed more time to review evidence. State prosecutors responded that they oppose any delays and the court accepted their position.

In overruling the request the presiding judge wrote that the first session on March 17 was a procedural reading of the charges only and the defendant’s response was not needed, therefore there was no justification for a delay.

The dark role of archeology in the battle for Hebron’s Tel Rumeida

“As you can see we live in a cage,” Arwa Abu Haikel sighed as she walked up the steps of her home. “Because of the continuous attacks by settlers, throwing stones, breaking windows and causing injuries, we had to build the bars around the windows.” Based in Tel Rumedia, a neighborhood of Hebron, Arwa’s home possesses one of the most contentious postcodes of the occupied Palestinian territory. Hebron has been the epicenter of burgeoning violence since the outbreak of the so-called “Third Intifada” at the beginning of October, and a few weeks ago the Israeli military declared the whole of Tel Rumeida a closed military zone.

Despite this, Palestinian residents told Ma’an that Tel Rumedia’s difficulties long precede the recent spate of violence, and can be seen in the fight over the area’s archaeological ruins.

Israeli IDF Snipers Boast of Shooting ‘Ducks’ in Gaza’. Boasting About Their Hits. Unspoken Crimes against Humanity

Two days ago (Friday) a piece came out in Haaretz by Ido Glazer, featuring stories from five anonymous snipers who told how they gunned down unarmed protesters at the March of Return near the Gaza perimeter fence.

These accounts are a jaw-dropper, constituting some of the most enraging as well as depressing readings I can recall. The language of the perpetrators of these massacres is testimony to the moral depravity of these young soldiers, who still seem to believe they are fulfilling a sacred duty to defend their country, as well as a damning account of the state and society that supports them and their crimes.

These are not shamed confessions: the snipers appear to be boasting about their “hits”, in competition over the number of knees they can claim to have shot to pieces. And Israeli officials often say that their army is the “most moral army in the world.”

Let’s start with the knees.

Israel, Quarantine and an Epidemic: It’s World War Z All Over Again, Except Brad Pitt Is Missing

If Brad Pitt decided to embark on a quest to find a way to stop the coronavirus outbreak, he might want to re-watch the movie World War Z, where his character ultimately saved the world. This time around, however, he wouldn’t make it to Israel so easily.

Hollywood has produced a plethora of apocalyptic horror films, but nothing is as frightening as the threat of a real epidemic.

Israel, where 50 people have already tested positive for the novel coronavirus, is going to great lengths to stop the disease from spreading.

All visitors from abroad — Israelis and foreign citizens alike — must be placed in home isolation for two weeks, according to a Monday order by Prime Minister Netanyahu. Those who fail to demonstrate to border authorities they will be able to self-quarantine won’t be allowed into the country.

This drastic response to the viral outbreak resembles Israel’s recipe for another (fictional) epidemic: the zombie one.

Pro-Israel Super PAC endorses Joe Biden for president

Democratic Majority for Israel says Biden has a proven record to fight for a strong US-Israeli relationship.

A pro-Israel Democratic super PAC has endorsed Joe Biden for president, underscoring growing antagonism towards Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders among Israel's advocates in the United States.

The endorsement by the Democratic Majority for Israel (DMFI) - which is linked to AIPAC - comes a day ahead of a crucial round of primaries, after Biden took the lead in what has become a two-candidate race for the Democratic nomination.

"As senator and vice president, Joe Biden has proven he will fight for Democrats' broad vision for America, including a strong US-Israeli relationship," DMFI president and founder Mark Mellman, who is a prominent AIPAC strategist, said in a statement on Monday.

Israel Confiscates Sole Medical Vehicle Serving 1,500 Palestinians

On the rare occasions that the Israeli authorities afford me a permit to visit Jerusalem, my mother always insists that I bring her a stack of "ka'ak al-Quds" (ka'ak of Jerusalem).

Ka'ak is an ovular bread coated in a generous layer of sesame seeds. It is widely available across Palestine and also in Ramallah, where we live. But for most Palestinians, Jerusalem's ka'ak is a unique delicacy. Israel Deploys Teens & Army To Combat Virus As Health Ministry Says "Tens Of Thousands" Will Be Infected

As government emergency response plans around the globe become more militarized in efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19, with China and Iran previously being the first to call up military units to both assist in testing and quarantining suspected cases, Israel has now announced stepped-up drastic action.

Bloomberg reports Sunday that "Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to deploy the military and an army of teenagers to help fight the coronavirus. He’s also weighing putting parts of the U.S. on a travel blacklist."

Tel Aviv's logic is apparently young people, which happen to make up the vast majority of enlisted and lower officer ranks in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), are less susceptible to the virus and most often only experience it as a mild flu-like sickness.

The Futility of Russian Deals with Erdogan

The US, Israeli, and Turkish regime under Erdogan can never be trusted.

Time and again they agree to one thing, then go another way — falsely blaming others for their bad faith.

Numerous times before in Astana and Sochi, Erdogan agreed to establish a demilitarized zone in Idlib province Syria, free from jihadists.

Russia fulfilled its obligations. So did Syria, not Turkey by continuing to arm and otherwise support al-Nusra and likeminded terrorists in the province, along with giving them safe haven in Turkish territory.

Israeli Police Shoot Sponge-tipped Bullets at Two Palestinian Boys in East Jerusalem

In one of the incidents, a policeman is caught on tape inserting his weapon between the bars of a school gate and firing some five shots at children standing in the schoolyard.

Israeli Border Police officers fired sponge-tipped bullets at two Palestinian boys in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Isawiyah in two separate incident this week.

The shootings were allegedly carried out in violation of police regulations that prohibit firing at minors as well as at the upper body of individuals.

Sixteen-year-old Mohamed Atia was shot Monday while standing in his schoolyard and his arm was fractured.

Ten-year-old Fawzi Abid was shot Tuesday while standing on the balcony of his home when clashes erupted between youths in the neighborhood and the police, sustaining an injury to his hand that required medical attention.

The police said in response that youths have been hurling stones at police officer over the past few days, including from within the school grounds.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Collective punishment... is a war crime; collective punishment against innocent kids?!? SBP (standard, brutal procedures against Palestinian kids), courtesy of the Israeli Border Police.

and I would almost be willing to bet real money on this; these officers were not removed, pending any kind of disciplinary hearing, but congratulated by their COs because of the targets they picked, salted with a lot of frustration that they couldn't assassinate these kids on site, as well as all the other Palestinian kids attending this school.

A Terrifying Scenario: Coronavirus in ‘Quarantined’ Gaza

What if the Coronavirus reaches the besieged Gaza Strip?

While the question carries great urgency for all Palestinians living under Israel’s military occupation, the Gaza situation is particularly complex and extremely worrying.

Nearly 50 countries have already reported cases of COVID-19 disease, one of several epidemics that are caused by the Coronavirus. If developed countries, such as Italy and South Korea, are struggling to contain the deadly virus, one can only imagine what occupied Palestinians would have to face should the virus strike.

In fact, according to official Palestinian reports, the Coronavirus has already reached Palestine following a visit by a South Korean delegation in the period between February 8 and 15, which included a tour in the major Palestinian cities of Jerusalem, Nablus, Jericho, Hebron, and Bethlehem.

Webmaster's Commentary:

IF this plague hits Gaza, you can bet real money that instead of doing something concrete, top help victims heal, and minimize rates of infection, Israeli officials will "seal off" infected areas, and allow this potentially bioengineered disease to "run its course"; Mengele would have been SO PROUD of this Israeli policy!!

And hey, 30 Palestinian kids who have had to have limbs amputated, because IDF sharpshooters know just how, and where, to aim, to cause these horrendous injuries?!?

US to Sell Pegasus Tanker Jets to Israel, Allowing Its Fighters to Reach Iran's Territory

Ending the Myth that Trump Is Ending the Wars: Trump has sent more new troops to the Middle East than he’s bringing home from Afghanistan.

There was this moment during the State of the Union Address that I can’t stop thinking about.

When President Trump spoke to army wife Amy Wiliams during his speech and told her he’d arranged her husband’s return home from Afghanistan as a “special surprise,” it was difficult to watch.

Sgt. Townsend Williams then descended the stairs to reunite with his family after seven months of deployment. Congress cheered. A military family’s reunion — with its complicated feelings that are typically handled in private or on a base — was used for an applause line.

That gimmick was the only glimpse many Americans will get of the human reality of our wars overseas. There is no such window into the lives or suffering of people in Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan, or beyond.

That’s unacceptable. And so is the myth that Trump is actually ending the wars.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Given that many of the Trump-Centric Evangelicals in this country are also "End of Time Believers", who believe that it will be only after a massive world war (which humankind MUST bring about) that Jesus' "Second Coming" will happen, coupled with the push by the military industrial complex for wars and more wars, I see both the chances for bringing about the end of existing wars, and not bringing about new ones, is statistically very slight for this administration.

And the hell of it it is, once the Dementocrats finally have nailed down their choices for President and Vice President, whoever they may be, we are still looking at a party which will never "cross the line" in terms of questioning if such a war is necessary, and if there might possibly be other alternatives which would see the US get what it wanted to get, geopolitically, without firing a shot.

So, as usual, at the end of the day, the American voter has utterly zero choice in finding a non-warmonger as their presidential or vice-presidential candidate, because no matter who they vote for, every vote in this Kabuki-like charade, is a vote for more war.; it pains me to say this, but if people are honestly, dispassionately looking at the American Presidential political process, this is the butt-ugly truth, no matter how you describe it.

They Have the Watches, We Have the Time; US and Iran Hardliners Still Want War

For the US Empire, and those relishing the responsibility for its maintenance and expansion, to include much of corporate media, there can simply not be too much war.

There are hardliners in Iran who want confrontation and war with the US, just as for decades now we have had hardliners in the US start, prolong and sustain war after war, stretching from Western Africa to Pakistan. What we need to do, both Americans and Iranians, is to recognize the dangers within each of our own governments and not do anything to allow these hardliners to feed off each other, escalate crises and deliver the political space needed in both countries for war between the US and Iran to occur.

IDF bans troops from flying abroad over coronavirus fears

No IDF soldier will be able to leave Israel starting at noon on Friday in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, IDF Spokesperson Brig.-Gen. Hidai Zilberman announced Thursday.

The decision was made by IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi in accordance with the Health Ministry’s guidelines and following a situational assessment with the military’s General Staff.

American students must serve like Israeli soldiers on their campuses against BDS — Steny Hoyer

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer called on American college students to serve like Israeli soldiers on their campuses, fighting the boycott movement.

“America must not be fooled by BDS. And that is up to all of us,” he said in a speech to the Israel lobby conference AIPAC on March 1. “I’m told there are more than 3600 high school and college students at policy conference this year…. Welcome, welcome. You, as Betsy [Berns Korn, AIPAC’s president] said, are the front lines in this battle. As surely as Israel relies on the extraordinary young people in the IDF [Israeli Defense Forces], it relies on you for steadfast support and success. As successful as we are today, we must also be successful tomorrow on behalf of our ally and our strategic interest. You are here this week, students, to gain knowledge that will help you in your mission to go back and share Israel’s story with your schools, your communities, your fellow students, your peers.”

Israel demolishes homes of detained Palestinians

In the early hours of this morning, Israeli forces destroyed the family homes of two Palestinians on trial for the murder of 17-year-old Israeli, Rina Shnerb, in the Ramallah area.

The home of Walid Hanatasheh located in occupied Ramallah, and that of Yasan Mjames in the Birzeit suburb, north of the city, were destroyed by bulldozers.

Palestinian media said that Israeli soldiers stormed apartments near Hanatasheh’s house and “terrorised the residents, especially the children”, then took pictures of the house after the demolition.

Naftali Bennett, the Israeli Defence Minister, informed Shnerb’s family this morning that the demolitions had been completed .

With Grenell Appointment, the Israel Lobby’s Foothold on US Intelligence Grows Even Stronger

Last week’s appointment of U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell to the post of Director of National Intelligence (DNI) received criticism from both sides of the political divide, mainly for his lack of experience and history of outspoken and partisan political statements. Much more overlooked, however, are Grenell’s ties to the powerful American pro-Israel lobby and Israeli politicians alike, including organizations and individuals with a history of espionage and blackmail against the United States.

Grenell is merely the latest example in a series of appointments over the past few years that have seen individuals with deep ties to the pro-Israel lobby rise to top positions in the U.S. intelligence community, including the NSA’s current director of Cybersecurity Anne Neuberger as well as the leaders of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board (PIAB).

Prisoners denied timely treatment dying in Israeli custody

Amna Abu Diyak still finds it almost impossible to talk about her son’s death.

“I felt like I was going to collapse when I heard the news,” the 55-year-old told The Electronic Intifada in a phone interview. “I still can’t believe everything that happened. I feel so sorry for my son. He went into prison when he was still a child. And then he was forced to die there.”

Aged 36, Sami Abu Diyak, died in Israeli custody late last year. He had been imprisoned since he was 17.

Amna visited her son a few days before he succumbed to illness on 26 November. On that occasion, prison officers had to bring Sami in a wheelchair for a visit at the Ramle prison.

“He was in such a bad state. He was hardly conscious. I had to keep trying to wake him. It was like he was already dead,” Amna said.

HomeWorld NewsHuman shield tactics again? ‘Israeli jets’ striking Syria force TWO civilian planes to change course

Two civilian airplanes bound for Qatar were reportedly used as cover by Israeli jets launching missiles from Lebanese airspace against targets near the Syrian cities of Homs and Quneitra.
READ MORE: Syrian air defenses engage ‘hostile targets’ over Homs & Quneitra

Syrian air defenses engaged incoming missiles shortly after midnight local time on Thursday, both near Homs in central Syria and Quneitra in the south, on the armistice line with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Following the attack, reports appeared that at least two flights – one passenger, one cargo – had to change course to avoid getting struck by air defense missiles.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Putting civilian lives on the line has never been a moral, or ethical issue for either the IDF, or the Israeli government.

Why does Netanyahu keep winning?

A few days ahead of the previous Israeli election, Haaretz’s lead writer Anshel Pfeffer, authored a spectacular analysis of Israel’s current political deadlock: Israelis are going to the polls to decide whether they are ‘Jews’ or ‘Israelis.’

The first to point out the political rivalry between ‘the Jew’and ‘the Israeli’ was Shimon Peres who, after his narrow 1996 defeat, lamented in a Haaretz interview that “the Israelis lost the election.” When Peres asked who won, he answered, “The Jews won.” Peres, who was born in Poland, saw himself as the ‘Israeli’ candidate, Netanyahu, who was born in Israel and served as a commander in the IDF’s top unit, was in Peres’ eyes, the political choice of the ‘Jews.’ Peres’s observation was spot on. Politically astute and well imbued in early Zionist thought, Peres identified the emerging Identitarian conflict that was destined to break up Israeli society.

Thousands of shekels stolen from Palestinian homes in occupied West Bank

Israel security forces stole thousands of shekels from Palestinians in Al-Zawiya in the Salfit district of the occupied West Bank last night.

According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, around 50,000 shekels ($14,500) were seized during raids that were carried out overnight in the houses of Palestinian citizens and former prisoners.

The Israeli authorities often claim that money has been “confiscated” because the Palestinians “supported acts of terror” and received the money from unknown sources. As a result, soldiers are rarely charged with such thefts.

Black Frankenstein Turns on Its Jewish Creators

Once again Michael Brown has held me responsible for attacks on Jews. Last year it was Pittsburgh and Poway. This time it was Jersey City and Monsey, New York. In order to make these accusations sound plausible against me, a man who prefaced virtually every YouTube video he ever posted on the Jewish Question with the statement “no one has the right to harm the Jew,”[1] Brown had to confect an overarching principle known as “Christian anti-Semitism,” to condemn me for what I did not say. “Christian anti-Semitism” turns out to be an oxymoron if we construe it racially or a straight forward reading of the Scriptures if we change the term to “anti-Jewish.”

Where’s the outrage over Netanyahu trying to interfere in the US election?

For the last four years, there’s been a national debate regarding the scope of Russian interference in the 2016 election. The issue might end up dominating discourse in 2020 as well. Last month, intelligence officials warned House members that Russia is allegedly meddling in an effort to get Trump reelected.

Concerns about Putin’s impact on U.S. elections has generated countless articles and wall-to-wall cable news coverage. It also fueled an impeachment investigation. However, blatant election interference from other countries is certainly not treated in the same way.

This contradiction was on display over the weekend, when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed AIPAC’s annual policy conference via video feed. Netanyahu repeatedly referenced Democratic frontrunner Bernie Sanders, who skipped the conference and claimed that the lobbying group promotes bigotry. At the most recent Democratic debate, Sanders called Netanyahu a “reactionary racist.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

"Outrageous", MY ASTROLABE, Mr. Prime Minister!!

Bernie Sanders has no chance for the Dementocrat nomination, thanks greatly to the interference from AIPAC, which believes that a potentially dementia-stricken Joe Biden, whose campaign gaffes are so intense as to be absoflippinglutely unbelievable, is a far better candidate for President (for Israel), than is Sanders, with whom I am absolutely aligned in his call for a more "even handed" approach to the US's Middle East policy.

I would suggest that our Dementocrat brothers and Sisters are looking at a "brokered convention", into which Hillary Clinton, a two-time party "favorite/Failure" will try to re-insert herself as a Candidate.

IF, in fact, Clinton's candidacy is for the Vice-Presidency, whoever winds up at the top of the ticket, had better be wearing their Kevlar undies; hire a food-taster; and get the best private security people available in the world; because after the inauguration, should they clinch the win in November, they are going to need them.

Israelis choose a rightwing government– over rightwing-lite government

With 90% of the votes counted in Israel’s 3rd-election-in-a-year, the big surprise is Netanyahu’s Likud lead over centrist rival Gantz’s Blue White. The count is 36 for Likud and 32 for Blue White. For some months Likud was mostly lagging behind, and only in the past two weeks polls started showing a slight edge for Likud over Blue White. Absolutely no poll had predicted this level of victory before election day yesterday.

Still, the count appears to leave Likud’s right wing bloc short by 2 seats– at 59 mandates — of reaching a right-wing governing coalition without Blue White, and without Lieberman’s seven seats in the Yisrael Beitenu party. For Lieberman has long declared that a unity government without the religious parties, which won 17 seats and are a key part of Netanyahu’s bloc, is the only option.

Two words that strike terror into a liberal’s heart: ‘Jewish democracy’

Israel held its third election in a year yesterday and once again the right wing is on top. Netanyahu won a large plurality though he is indicted and about to go on trial on corruption charges. The new “left” bloc in politics of three parties including Labor and Meretz got all of seven seats.

There is now just one address for liberal and leftwing politics in Israel: the Joint List of Palestinian parties, the third largest vote getter with a whopping 15 seats, up from 10 last April. It is said that the Palestinian parties drew Jewish voters. Something they wanted: Joint List for a Joint future!

Hundreds of Israeli Settlers Storm al-Aqsa Mosque

On Monday, 226 Israeli Settlers stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque while accompanied by a squadron of Israeli police. In 2016, protests erupted at the embattled area after Israeli sSettlers invaded the compound during the last 10 days of Islam’s holy month of Ramadan, in contravention of tradition.

The Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem reported that the intruders wandered brazenly in the courtyards of the mosque.

Analysis: On Hanging from the Blades of a Bulldozer: Al-Naem is Every Palestinian

How is one to apply rational political analysis to what is inherently irrational? What kind of political theory must one consult to formulate and test hypotheses when the information at hand is so grizzly, sadistic, and reeking with unbearable contradictions?

Seeing the gaunt body of Mohammed al-Naem hanging from the blades of an Israeli military bulldozer near the fence, which separates besieged Gaza from Israel, left me speechless. There is nothing in the field of political science that can convincingly explain the logic of that heart-rending scene.

Come to think of it, killing a Palestinian then dragging his lifeless body using the blades of a bulldozer, thus denying his family the dignity of burying their beloved son or daughter, is unique to Israel; an act that manifests itself in numerous ways every single day in occupied Palestine.

12 Palestinians Shot by Israeli Forces, 50 Exposed to Tear Gas, near Nablus

Several Palestinians, on Monday, were injured, when Israeli soldiers opened fire at them as they peacefully defended a mountain in Beita town, south of Nablus, against a settler takeover, local sources reported.

Palestinians gathered on the Jabal al-Arma mountain to protect their land, located in the northern occupied West Bank, from Israeli colonial theft.

Ghassan Daghlas, local settlement monitor told WAFA Palestinian News Agency that the Israeli soldiers shot live-fire, rubber-coated metal bullets and tear-gas canisters in a show of excessive use of force.

Israeli NGO Petitions to Block Netanyahu From Forming Government Amid Corruption Trial

The Movement for Quality Government has petitioned Israel’s High Court of Justice, arguing that Israeli Prime Minister should be barred from forming a government as he faces several counts related to corruption charges.

As the Israeli prime minister celebrates his tentative “sweet” victory in the country’s third general election within less than a year, more issues may pop up for the leader after the Movement for Quality Government filed a petition Tuesday with Israel’s Supreme Court.

The advocacy group argued that the prime minister, who has been “launching direct and harmful attacks against the components of Israeli democracy,” should be prevented from forming a government as he faces criminal, corruption-related charges.

Super Tuesday: Israel partisans work to block Sanders’ nomination

As voters go to the polls in 14 states, the Democratic establishment, often heavily influenced by Israel partisans, is trying to block a Sanders’ nomination. Israeli leaders and partisans worry that a Sanders win could eventually have “catastrophic” results for Israel.

Amy Klobuchar and Pete Buttigieg have now dropped out of the race and endorsed Joe Biden. (The inducements used to accomplish this are not yet known.) Meanwhile, billionaire Bloomberg, an Israel advocate, has also been lobbying superdelegates and is hoping for a brokered convention where he could win on a second ballot.
