PIMCO CIO Says Bond Giant Plans To Buy More Crypto As Bitcoin Surges To Record High

As bitcoin prices surge to new record highs while inflows into the new bitcoin ETF (which holds exactly zero actual bitcoin) are going absolutely gangbusters, more institutional players are revealing plans to get involved in crypto trading.

Speaking to a CNBC reporter Wednesday during the TV Channel's "Seeking Alpha" conference, PIMCO CIO Daniel Ivascyn announced that his firm, which has already "dabbled" in crypto, plans to gradually invest more in the nascent asset class, starting with its quant-based and "trend-following" strategies, before moving on to more long-term strategies.

"Now we’re looking at potentially trading certain cryptocurrencies as part of our trend-following strategies or quant-oriented strategies, then doing more work on the fundamental side," Ivascyn said in an interview with CNBC’s Leslie Picker for Delivering Alpha.

OUR EPIC SUPPLY CHAIN CRISIS JUST HIT ANOTHER LEVEL, AND BIDEN IS CONSIDERING CALLING IN THE NATIONAL GUARD TO HELP

It is the month of October, and right now many Americans are more scared by the state of our national supply chains than by anything else. Some of the things that I am going to share with you in this article are truly frightening, and I would very much encourage you to take them seriously.

Our economic infrastructure is failing on a massive scale, and officials are openly admitting that things will get even worse in the months ahead. We are in uncharted territory because none of us has ever seen anything like this before. If our leaders cannot get this fixed, 2022 is going to be a truly nightmarish year.

Of course just last week Joe Biden gave a big speech in which he assured all of us that he was implementing measures that would soon turn things around.

Why Do Central Banks Want Higher Inflation?

Why do Central Banks want higher inflation?

The debt ceiling debate in U.S. Congress and related political nonsense brings even more to light the exponential growth in US federal government debt. US government debt has doubled in the 10 years since the last major debacle Congress created over raising the debt ceiling back 2011. The debate and Congress’s unwillingness to increase the limit back in August 2011 resulted in declining equity markets. It also resulted in Standard and Poor’s downgrading U.S. debt to AA+ from AAA!

The Political Standoff

The political standoff over raising this arbitrary restriction of how much debt the US can issue has become just another political lever in the dysfunctional Congress. As Secretary Yellen points out…

TRAFFICKING VICTIM: THEY MADE ME HAVE SEX WITH COPS

A woman who claims she was sex trafficked from Costa Rica to the United States says she was victimized by the very people who were supposed to help her— the local police.

The plaintiff, who filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for Eastern Virginia under the pseudonym “Jane Doe,” alleges that in 2010 she was approached by a woman who suggested she travel to the U.S. to work as an “escort”—a job she says was described as going on dates and attending lavish events with wealthy men. She claims she was not told she would be required to perform sexual acts.

She flew to Virginia on a ticket purchased by her new employer in October 2010 and was allegedly driven to an apartment in Fairfax, Virginia, where she met her new boss, Hazel Marie Sanchez Cerdas. The plaintiff claims Sanchez told her that she would not be going on dates with men, but instead would be having sex with them—and that she knew where her family was and would have them harmed if she did not comply.

Identity Theft Statistics

Identity theft has become one of the main scourges of the modern Internet era, posing challenges for consumers and law enforcement alike.

Identity theft statistics clearly lays bare the persistence of these fraudulent scams and brings to stark relief the price paid by victims.

For those of us not yet up to speed on what constitutes identity theft, it occurs “when a criminal appropriates an individual’s personal information such as name, address, date of birth or Social Security number to assume that person’s identity to commit theft or multiple types of fraud.”

The growth of the Internet, the increasing dependence on e-commerce, along with the explosion of social media has created the perfect storm of opportunity for criminals to steal and exploit people’s identity.

The History & Future of Virtual Private Networks

VPN (virtual private network) technology has been in development for quite some time. Once the internet became viable, companies like Microsoft knew that they would have to create solutions for securing it.

The first method for VPN implementation was developed by a Microsoft employee in 1996. PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol), first introduced in 1999 by a vendor consortium consisting of Microsoft, Ascend Communications, 3Com and others, relied on a TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) channel and a GRE (Generic Routing Encapsulation) tunnel to encapsulate PPTP packets.

Although PPTP is considered to be obsolete, it remains in use today with many popular VPN services and privacy tools, pairing it with other technologies to facilitate security functionality. The inherent problem with PPTP is that it lacks the encryption or authentication that would come to define the modern VPN solution.

70 percent of Americans say Facebook, Twitter do more harm than good: poll

A new poll from Quinnipiac University shows 7 out of 10 Americans believe social media companies like Facebook and Twitter do more harm than good.

Twenty percent of respondents said the companies do more good than harm, and 10 percent didn't respond either way, according to the poll, which was conducted between Oct. 15 and Oct. 18.

The poll also found that public opinion was split in terms of how much government should regulate social media platforms.

Sailors didn't know what to do in USS Bonhomme Richard fire, Navy probe finds

When a fire broke out aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard in July 2020, its sailors did not know how to react and its leaders didn't take control, a Navy investigation found.

The 400-page report, officially released on Wednesday, found that 36 individuals, including the ship's commander and five admirals, were responsible for numerous errors and breakdowns that followed after the vessel was purposely set on fire while it sat pier-side in San Diego.

“Although the fire was started by an act of arson, the ship was lost due to an inability to extinguish the fire,” the report said.

STUDY PUBLISHED ON NIH WEBSITE FINDS ‘NO DISCERNABLE RELATIONSHIP’ BETWEEN VACCINE STATUS AND COVID CASES, SAYS INFECTION RATE MAY BE HIGHER AMONG FULLY VACCINATED

A new study published in the NIH NCBI database and authored by Harvard professor S. V. Subramanian, Ph.D, and Penn State professor Akhil Kumar, Ph.D claims that vaccination rates have “no discernable relationship” with the amount of new COVID cases, and notes that “In fact, the trend line suggests a marginally positive association such that countries with higher percentage of population fully vaccinated have higher COVID-19 cases per 1 million people.”

“At the country-level, there appears to be no discernable relationship between percentage of population fully vaccinated and new COVID-19 cases in the last 7 days,” the report states. “In fact, the trend line suggests a marginally positive association such that countries with higher percentage of population fully vaccinated have higher COVID-19 cases per 1 million people. Notably, Israel with over 60% of their population fully vaccinated had the highest COVID-19 cases per 1 million people in the last 7 days.”

Some Democrats Want to Give Biden War Powers to Fight China Over Taiwan

There is an ongoing debate between centrist Democrats and progressives in Washington over giving President Biden war powers to go to war with China in the case that Beijing invades Taiwan, Foreign Policy reported on Wednesday.

The centrists are in favor of expanding Biden’s authorities even though any military action against China risks nuclear war, while the progressives favor the current policy.

One Democrat in the House, Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA), the House Foreign Affairs Committee vice-chair, made the case to give Biden the war powers in an op-ed for The Washington Post.

Luria’s concern is that if China moves to take Taiwan, getting authorization from Congress would take too long. “So if you can’t act quickly enough, China overwhelmingly takes Taiwan,” she told Foreign Policy.

Guantanamo: US court rules inmate's detention 'unlawful'

A US federal court has ruled that a detainee at the Guantanamo Bay detention centre has been unlawfully kept there, several days after he was cleared to be transferred out of the military prison.

The US court granted the petition for a writ of habeas corpus for Asadullah Haroon Gul, who has been detained without charge by the US since 2007. The decision marks the first time in a decade a Guantanamo detainee's imprisonment has been ruled unlawful.

"We are thrilled for Asad. A federal court has finally affirmed what Asad has known for so long: he should be home with his family, and his detention is unlawful," Mark Maher, Gul's lawyer at Reprieve US, said in a statement.

"This is a landmark ruling. For 20 years, successive US administrations have asserted their right to imprison people indefinitely, without charge or trial. Guantanamo was built on the shakiest of legal foundations, and that has never been more clear than it is today."

Heightening Tensions In Ukraine

Shifting strategic priorities in the United States and Europe are leading Kyiv—not Moscow—to heighten tensions in Eastern Europe. Following the 2014 Russian annexation of Crimea and the ensuing separatist conflict in Ukraine’s eastern oblasts, the country began taking significant steps to divest itself of its economic reliance on Russia and politically reorient towards Europe. For its part, the latter viewed facilitating Ukrainian integration into various transatlantic frameworks as a net benefit.

As geopolitical circumstances have changed, however, Western enthusiasm towards Ukraine has started to wane. This trend is troublesome for Kyiv, as the country has become increasingly reliant on presenting itself as the victimized eastern edge of Europe. In an attempt to counter its diminishing level of priority, it has begun to ratchet up its hostile rhetoric as well as escalatory behavior in the region.

JOHN KIRIAKOU: Drone Whistleblower Thrown in Pen With Terrorists

Drone whistleblower Daniel Hale was sent on Sunday to the notorious Communications Management Unit (CMU) at the maximum-security U.S. Penitentiary (USP) at Marion, Illinois to serve a 45-month sentence, rather than to the low-security prison at Butner, North Carolina, where federal Judge Liam O’Grady had recommended he go.

Butner is a prison hospital complex, and O’Grady was cognizant of Daniel’s need for psychological therapy to deal with post traumatic stress disorder from his time as a U.S. Air Force drone operator.

USP Marion, on the other hand, is a former “Supermax” prison that was built in the early 1960s as a replacement for Alcatraz. It was converted into a CMU to keep terrorists from being in contact with the media. The Bureau of Prisons, which apparently knows better than a federal judge, decided that the American public must be protected from Daniel Hale’s dangerous ideas, like the notion that we shouldn’t murder innocent civilians with drones.

Forced Vaccination Was Always the End Game. America’s Move Towards Authoritarianism

With the exception of Pearl Harbor and Sept. 11, 2001, Americans have not been attacked by an enemy on our own soil. Unlike countries in Europe during World War II, America has never been occupied by a military force or locked down under martial law.

We have never seen soldiers in armored vehicles patrolling the streets, warning us to stay in our homes or face arrest – or worse.

Beginning in 1776, when our freedom seeking founders wrote the Declaration of Independence1 and stood their ground from Lexington and Concord to Saratoga and Valley Forge,2 and then came together to create a constitutional Republic dedicated to protecting individual and minority rights, 3 the United States of America has defined and served as a beacon for liberty for people around the world. 4

Just last week, lame duck outgoing Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that New York City will be abolishing all of its gifted and talented programs for public school students.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio unveiled a plan Friday to phase out the gifted and talented programs for elementary school students that many educators say discriminate against Black and Hispanic children enrolled in the nation’s largest public school system.

The gifted and talented program will be replaced by a program in which all children are thrown into a Harrison Bergeron-like “pool” where everyone is special. How big is this enlarged pool? Large enough to potentially encompass the entire population of New York’s public schools.

It will be replaced by a program called “Brilliant NYC” that will expand the pool of students being offered accelerated learning, and not limit it to just the incoming kindergarteners who scored well on an optional exam that put them on a path to attend the city’s elite middle schools and high schools.

“This Idea of Intellectual Debate and Rigor as the Pinnacle of Intellectualism Comes from a World in Which White Men Dominated"

Phoebe A. Cohen is a geosciences professor and department chair at Williams College and one of many who expressed anger on Twitter at M.I.T.’s decision to invite Dr. Abbot to speak, given that he has spoken against affirmative action in the past.

Dr. Cohen agreed that Dr. Abbot’s views reflect a broad current in American society. Ideally, she said, a university should not invite speakers who do not share its values on diversity and affirmative action. Nor was she enamored of M.I.T.’s offer to let him speak at a later date to the M.I.T. professors. “Honestly, I don’t know that I agree with that choice,” she said. “To me, the professional consequences are extremely minimal.”

What, she was asked, of the effect on academic debate? Should the academy serve as a bastion of unfettered speech?Dr. Abbot said his speech would not include his views about diversity and affirmative action, but faculty and graduate students objected to his invitation.

Professor Suing UCLA After Being Put on Leave for Refusing to Let Black Students Pass an Exam - Regardless of Grade - in the Memory of George Floyd

An accounting professor at UCLA said he filed a lawsuit against the school after it put him on leave and allegedly threatened to fire him for not grading Black student’s more leniently than their peers.

“Recently, I was suspended from my job for refusing to treat my black students as lesser than their non-black peers,” Gordon Klein wrote in an op-ed titled, “Why I Am Suing UCLA.”

The ordeal began, according to Klein, on June 2, 2020, eight days after George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis. A white student emailed Klein asking for a “no harm” final for Black students, meaning low grades would not be counted, in response to “unjust murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd.”

Klein described the proposal as “deeply patronizing and offensive” to Black students and said the email left him “shocked.”

Latest Hollywood Wokeism Production HUGE FAIL

One of the latest Disney’s movies called The Last Duel that stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, turned out to be an epic fail at the box office on its opening weekend, due to the fact that it grossed a small $4.8 million.

This medieval epic film innovatively incorporated woke gender politics, following the latest trends, by embracing the #MeToo movement and hiring a female screenwriter aiming to add an anachronistic feminist perspective to the screenplay originally written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

Webmaster's Commentary:

UN Experts Say US Sanctions on Iran are Causing Medical Shortages

A group of UN experts warned on Tuesday that US sanctions on Iran are causing medical shortages in the country.

US sanctions technically have exemptions for medical supplies and other humanitarian goods. But many companies and banks stop doing business altogether with countries targeted by the US over fears of sanctions.

“Many banks and businesses, including pharmaceutical and medical companies around the world, over-comply with sanctions out of fear of potential penalties,” the UN experts said.

One example the experts cited was the fact that patients suffering from a rare skin disease, known as epidermolysis bullosa (EB), have been unable to access a type of bandage that can prevent life-threatening infections.

“This is only one of many examples sadly illustrating the plight of thousands of people, including children, caused by over-compliance with sanctions by third parties out of fear of being sanctioned in turn,” the experts said.

Brazil Deploys Troops After Killings on Indigenous Land Farmed for Soy

Brazil's Justice Ministry has dispatched security forces to an indigenous reservation in the south of the country where two people have been killed in a dispute over renting land to soy farmers.

Federal police said they are investigating the fatal shooting of two members of the Kaingang tribe on Saturday during a wave of violence fueled by dissent in the community over distributing the farming income.

Iuri de Oliveira, the officer leading the investigation, told Reuters that Rosenildo Batista and Lucas Caetano were killed after being expelled from the reservation over a disagreement with the tribal leader. He said police have identified suspects in the killings but have not made any arrests yet.

Human rights groups and members of the Kaingang community say the murders are related to an arrangement to grow cash crops on the Serrinha reservation, a 12,000-hectare area in Brazil's southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul.

From Saigon to Kabul, a half century of American misadventures

Nearly half a century ago I watched the South Vietnamese army, an army that had been trained and equipped by the United States, simply melt away before a less well equipped but better motivated army of North Vietnam. The South Vietnamese fled in panic before the North’s final offensive. I saw soldiers taking off their uniforms and fleeing in their underwear. Cities were falling before the North Vietnamese had time to get there.

In the end I had to leave the county in a hurry by helicopter from the American Embassy, with the streets of Saigon seething with panicked people we were leaving behind. Thirty years of American effort, first for the French and then for ourselves, was going up in smoke.

In 2014 another American trained and equipped Iraqi army packed up and fled before a less well equipped but better motivated Islamic State when they attacked Mosul.

"It's Like A Zombie Apocalypse Walking Into Parts Of San Francisco": Addict's Mother Decries

San Francisco's leniency on drugs is filling the street with lawlessness, according to the mom of a 32-year-old drug addict, who's urging policymakers to enforce stricter laws that criminalize drug use and sales in the city.

"They allow the addicts to use in front of other people... Other people who live there can openly see the addict's using needles and smoking ... acting out in the ways that are harmful to them or the public."

Berlinn said her son is suffering from a fentanyl addiction, which has left him homeless and physically bent at a 45-degree angle.

Trump Hopeful For Change After This Statue Removed In NY S#itty

City officials on Monday voted collectively to remove the 7-foot-tall sculpture of Jefferson over his embrace of slavery but postponed a conclusion on where to move it.

And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right." -- George Orwell, 1984

The Secret Finances of the Vatican Economy

Because the Vatican has published very little over the centuries about its finances and investments, most people don't know how it makes money as a sovereign city-state with its own economy. The Vatican is located within the city of Rome, encompassing 110 acres with a population of under 1,000, which makes it the world’s smallest country.1? While the Vatican may be small in size, it has a large impact in the financial world with its far-reaching investments that include banking, real estate, and private enterprises.

Webmaster's Commentary:

See The Vatican and pharmaceutical industry and you will understand why the Pope is screaming about censoring Covid "misinformation."

‘Fully vaccinated’ were the majority of COVID deaths in Sweden, UK in September

“Fully vaccinated” people accounted for the vast majority of COVID-19 deaths in Sweden and the U.K. last month, government data has revealed, amid a rise in breakthrough cases and deaths in other Western countries.

The Public Health Agency of Sweden reported earlier this month that 70 percent of COVID-19 deaths between September 1-24 occurred in the “fully vaccinated,” according to Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet. Sweden recorded around 130 fatal COVID cases during that timeframe.

“It is still mainly about the elderly, but vaccine experts still see a tendency towards declining vaccine protection in Sweden,” Svenska Dagbladet said.

Possible reasons for the uptick in vaccinated deaths include “that it has now been quite a while since the oldest ones were vaccinated, that the vaccine coverage has increased, that the restrictions have been eased, and that the Delta strain has taken over,” microbiology researcher Farshid Jalalvand told the paper.

A Multibillion-Dollar Clean Coal Plant Never Worked, and Now It’s Been Imploded

Residents in Kemper County, Mississippi, were startled early Saturday morning by a “loud explosion” coming from the local coal plant. It wasn’t an industrial accident, though. Instead, it was the planned demolition of parts of the Kemper Plant.

Dramatic footage posted to Twitter shows the plant’s implosion. (You should really watch it.) Local outlet KTOK reported that the explosions were meant to remove towers used in turning coal to gas as part of the plant’s original design—a design that failed spectacularly. The demolition is the last chapter in a decade-long, multi-billion-dollar disaster of a story about attempts to make clean coal happen.

Kemper Coal Gasification & Storage Plant Imploded (Obama’s climate ‘centerpiece’ bites the dust)

The quick fix of coal gasification and CO2 storage is all but dead. Projects will continue, and the subsidies will flow if Biden gets his way. But it is greenwashing and greenwasting.

The shiny star to be, Plant Ratcliffe, better known as the Kemper Project, a $6.7 billion integrated gasification power plant, was an experimental boondoggle from the start (mid-2010). The dream really ended years ago, with The Guardian reporting in March 2018:

“This was the flagship project that was going to lead the way for a whole new generation of coal power plants,” said Richard Heinberg, senior fellow at the Post Carbon Institute. “If the initial project doesn’t work then who’s going to invest in any more like it?”

Company officials have blamed the failure on factors ranging from competition from tumbling natural gas prices to bad weather, bad timing and plain old bad luck.

The Empire Of Lies Breaks Down: Ugly Truths The Deep State Wants To Keep Hidden

America is breaking down.

This breakdown - triggered by polarizing circus politics, media-fed mass hysteria, racism, classism, fascism, fear-mongering, political correctness, cultural sanitation, virtue signaling, a sense of hopelessness and powerlessness in the face of growing government corruption and brutality, a growing economic divide that has much of the population struggling to get by, and militarization and militainment (the selling of war and violence as entertainment) - is manifesting itself in madness, mayhem and an utter disregard for the very principles and liberties that have kept us out of the clutches of totalitarianism for so long.

New China Law Will Punish Parents For Children's 'Bad Behavior'

China has drafted a law that would punish the parents of children who exhibit "very bad behavior" - which would be one of the first laws of its kind anywhere in the modern world.

A spokesman for the Legislative Affairs Commission of China's parliament, which is often dubbed in the West a "rubber-stamp" institution for the dictates of Communist party leadership, said "There are many reasons for adolescents to misbehave, and the lack of or inappropriate family education is the major cause."

It comes amid a broader initiative by President Xi and party leaders to stamp out what they've dubbed the false "spiritual opium" of Western culture, in reference to everything from internet gaming, to worship of Hollywood celebrities, to pop music, also to things deemed effeminate.

Tucker Carlson Interviews Dr. Peter McCullough on COVID Worldwide Conspiracy

Of course, the word conspiracy is not used. Professional people do not use such a word. And we are all professionals here and everything is under control. Well, actually, everything is not under control and something is “very very wrong” but we should not think to be deeply about such things, right?

Basically Doctor Peter McCullough goes into great lengths explaining how there are many treatments for Covid but that they are never mentioned and even actively suppressed. Both Doctor Peter McCullough and Tucker are trying to wrap their minds around this and seem to be totally baffled on how such treatments can be ignored. There is too much in this interview to sum up here and it is worth watching in whole.

FLASHBACK - How COVID-19 vaccine can destroy your immune system

According to a study that examined how informed consent is given to COVID-19 vaccine trial participants, disclosure forms fail to inform volunteers that the vaccine might make them susceptible to more severe disease if they're exposed to the virus.

The study,1 "Informed Consent Disclosure to Vaccine Trial Subjects of Risk of COVID-19 Vaccine Worsening Clinical Disease," published in the International Journal of Clinical Practice, October 28, 2020, points out that "COVID-19 vaccines designed to elicit neutralizing antibodies may sensitize vaccine recipients to more severe disease than if they were not vaccinated."

Some COVID-19 vaccines could increase risk of HIV, researchers warn

Some coronavirus vaccine candidates currently under development could increase susceptibility to HIV, a group of researchers has warned.

A modified virus being used in four COVID-19 vaccine contenders — called adenovirus 5 (Ad5) — has been shown to increase transmission of the AIDS virus in the past, the researchers wrote in a “cautionary tale” published in The Lancet medical journal Monday.

Adenoviruses — a group of common viruses which can cause a range of illnesses, including the common cold — are sometimes genetically engineered and used to create inoculations.

But the Ad5 strain used in a potential HIV vaccination a decade ago was found to make some men more vulnerable to HIV in placebo-controlled trials, according to Science Magzine.

Bombshell: Official Government Docs Comparison Suggests “Fully Vaccinated” Are Developing AIDS

This should come as no surprise for those who have listened to The Sons of Liberty radio on Saturdays where this is exactly what Dr. Kevin Corbett and The Sons of Liberty’s health and wellness expert Kate Shemirani have referenced this very thing. Yet, according to government documents out of the United Kingdom, it appears that those who get “fully vaccinated” are in danger of developing Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

Webmaster's Commentary:

This fits with the reports that people vaccinated for Covid-19 are losing their natural immune systems!

Pentagon Threatens Navy SEALs With Discharge & Cost Of Training For Refusing Their Unlawful COVID Mandate

Do these fools in the Pentagon not know these are some of the most dangerous men on the planet and yet, they threaten the elite Navy SEALs with discharge, as well as paying back the cost of training for refusing to take their experimental COVID shot and following their lawless mandate? Apparently not because they are doing just that.

JD Heyes reports for Natural News on the story.

The U.S. Navy’s SEAL teams are literally among the most elite military forces in the world, if not the most elite, but because the Biden regime is literally made up of exactly the kind of tyrants they accused Donald Trump of being, our country is at risk of losing many of these warriors.

According to an exclusive Fox News report, “a growing number of U.S. Navy SEALs who are seeking a religious exemption to the Defense Department’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate are being threatened and, in some cases, harassed into submission.”

Heroic Last Stand: Victorian MP Neil Angus’ Epic Speech Against Mandatory “Vaccines” (Video)

I rise today to oppose the motion before the house. I want to say from the outset that I am not in any way anti-vaccination. The important thing for all Victorians to realise is that in my opinion this motion is actually not about vaccinations, it is about freedoms—freedom for an individual to make a choice regarding a provisionally approved invasive medical procedure, freedom to be a part of society, freedom to have a job and earn a living, freedom to keep private your personal medical records, freedom of democracy. In my opinion freedoms are well worth fighting for.

Ukraine NATO Membership: Why US, EU Won't Test Russia's 'Red Lines' Despite Pentagon Chief's Bravado

US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin claimed on 19 October that Russia had no right to veto NATO's membership decisions when it comes to Ukraine. What's behind the Pentagon's renewed rhetoric about Ukraine's admission to NATO?

Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin has kicked off a three-leg visit to Georgia, Ukraine, and Romania before attending the NATO Defence Ministerial in Brussels in a bid to "reassure allies and partners of America's commitment to their sovereignty in the face of Russian aggression".

Both Georgia and Ukraine are seeking membership in the transatlantic military alliance. However, under NATO rules, countries with territorial conflicts and disputes cannot join the bloc.
