State Dept To Blame For HOSTAGE Situation According To This

Americans engaged in the rescue of U.S. citizens, SIVs and green card holders neglected by President Biden in Afghanistan are horrified by what they term as inexplicable delays from the State Department that are preventing evacuation flights from leaving the nation.

The State Department's delays are dangerously endangering American lives, three different individuals involved in the private evacuation effort told Fox News.

Rick Clay, who runs the private rescue group PlanB, told Fox News that the State Department is the only thing stopping the flights he's organizing from fleeing Afghanistan.

Two other American individuals separately involved in evacuation efforts, whom Fox News is not naming to avoid risking ongoing rescue forces, similarly stated that the State Department is the single entity preventing their charter flights from leaving Afghanistan.

The Taliban are showing us the dangers of personal data falling into the wrong hands

The Taliban have openly talked about using US-made digital identity technology to hunt down Afghans who have worked with the international coalition – posing a huge threat to everyone recorded in the system. In addition, the extremists now also have access to – and control over – the digital identification systems and technologies built through international aid support.

These include the e-Tazkira, a biometric identity card used by Afghanistan’s National Statistics and Information Authority, which includes fingerprints, iris scans and a photograph, as well as voter registration databases. It also includes the Afghan personnel and pay system, used by the interior and defence ministries to pay the army and police.

Biden Seeks to Shift Focus to Domestic Issues After Afghanistan Exit

President Biden is seeking to press his legislative agenda and redouble efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic after Labor Day but the tumultuous withdrawal from Afghanistan may cast a long shadow over the fall.

Mr. Biden has sought to place the spotlight on domestic issues, including Friday’s underwhelming jobs report and recovery from Hurricane Ida, visiting New Orleans Friday and making plans to travel to the New York metropolitan area on Tuesday to assess storm damage. He is expected to focus heavily on his infrastructure and antipoverty legislation in the coming weeks, as Congress returns to Washington, as well as travel to California to campaign for Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat facing a recall election.

The Worst Day In Afghanistan

he Kabul airport suicide bombing was the largest single-day loss of life for Americans in the Afghan War since 2011. It was a terrible day, but raises the question: What was the worst day of the Afghan war?

At first, it is hard not to consider the August 26 attack the worst day, with 13 Americans and at least 169 Afghans dead. How old were the Americans? How many hadn’t even gotten out of diapers when the war started 20 years ago? Did any have parents who also served in Afghanistan? Who were the Afghans? All the dead were so close to safety, after who knows what journey to that moment together—a hundred yards across the tarmac and into an airplane out. Good people only die at the last minute in bad movies, and sometimes real life.

But was it the worst day? Shall we count the dead? The worst day for American casualties was August 6, 2011, when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter was shot down over eastern Afghanistan. Thirty Americans, including 22 SEALs, died that day.

Unreal: Secretary of State Blinken Says Taliban Won’t Allow Stranded Americans at Mazar-i-Sharif Airport to Leave Because They Lack Valid Travel Documents

Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday denied reports that the Taliban was preventing Americans from flying out of Afghanistan from the Mazar-e-Sharif airport. Blinken said the Americans and SIV migrants were not allowed to leave because they lacked valid travel documents.

The civilians at the Mazar-i-Sharif Airport are fleeing the country and fear for their lives.

State Department accused of trying to take credit for rescue of 4 Americans from Afghanistan

State Department trying to steal credit for rescue of 4 Americans from Afghanistan, organizer says: 'Total lie'

The organizer of a private mission to rescue an American mom, Mariam, and her three children from Afghanistan says the U.S. State Department is now trying to insert itself into the story of her evacuation, despite playing little to no role for much of the rescue effort.

Senior State Department officials on Monday announced that the "U.S. has facilitated the safe departure of four US citizens by overland route from Afghanistan. Embassy staff was present upon their arrival."

But those actually involved in the dangerous rescue operation say the State Department deserves little to no credit for Mariam's escape from Afghanistan.

Liz Peek: Gloomy Americans give Biden low marks on Afghanistan, COVID and economy

The mood of the nation is dark.

You can see it in the University of Michigan consumer confidence index, which plunged to 70.3 in August, down 11.0 points from July. That’s down to levels not seen since the Great Recession.

The gloom is apparent in retail sales, which slid more than 1% in July from the prior month, the second drop in the past three months.

It’s also showing up in President Joe Biden’s collapsing approval ratings, which have turned negative; that’s not shocking given that 61% of the nation thinks we are on the wrong track, according to Real Clear Politics.

Imagine – the country is profoundly discouraged even as the stock market hits new highs, jobs are plentiful and consumers are wealthier than ever before.

Blinken: US identified 'relatively' small number of Americans seeking to depart Mazar-i-Sharif

U.S. officials in Washington have identified a "relatively" small number of Americans seeking to depart Mazar-i-Sharif International Airport, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Tuesday while in Qatar.

Blinken says the State Department is working with the Taliban to facilitate additional charter flights from Kabul for people seeking to leave Afghanistan after the American military and diplomatic departure.

It appeared to be the first time that the Biden administration confirmed that there were Americans at the airport after several reports that Taliban fighters had blocked Americans aboard six planes at the airport. Three Americans involved in the private evacuations blasted the State Department over the weekend for preventing the evacuation flights from leaving the country.

Republican Afghanistan Veteran: Biden’s Actions Meet ‘Constitutional Definition Of Treason’

On Sunday, Republican Congressman Brian Mast, who fought in Afghanistan and now serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said that President Joe Biden’s actions involving that country amount to “treason” and he should be removed from office.

Mast made his comments during an interview on Fox News.

Mast’s reasoning includes how quickly the Taliban retook Afghanistan, Biden being more worried about optics than national security, and also the controversial July phone call in which Biden reportedly encouraged Afghanistan’s president to change the perception of what was happening.

The president reportedly told the Afghan leader he didn’t care if the narrative he came up with was true or not.

America's 20-year war on terror has killed up to 929,000 people and cost over $8 trillion: report

The pricetag of America's global war on terror is estimated to stand at roughly $8 trillion, according to a new report from Brown University's Costs of War project.

The estimate factors in "future costs for veteran's care, the total budgetary costs and future obligations of the post-9/11 wars."

The report attributes $2.3 trillion to the Afghanistan and Pakistan war zone, $2.1 trillion to the Iraq and Syria war zone, and $355 billion to other war zones.

Dr. Neta C. Crawford, co-director of the Costs of War Project, in a statement said the project's accounting "goes beyond the Pentagon's numbers because the costs of the reaction to 9/11 have rippled through the entire budget."

Taliban announces formation of new government, including some ministers WANTED by US

The Taliban has begun to fill government positions following its successful conquest of Afghanistan. Some of the names however, are wanted by US authorities, with multi-million dollar bounties on their heads.

Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund, a co-founder and head of the Taliban’s leadership council, was named acting Prime Minister of Afghanistan on Tuesday, with other senior Taliban leaders approving his nomination. Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, considered the militant group’s de-facto leader, was named Deputy Prime Minister, according to a Taliban spokesman.

Sirajuddin Haqqani was named Acting Interior Minister, with his appointment standing out for one reason: Haqqani is considered an international terrorist by US authorities, with the FBI offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to his arrest.

US military knew dozens of Americans were AT THE GATES of Kabul airport but refused entry during evacuation — journalist to RT

The US commanders in charge of evacuation abandoned dozens of American citizens at the gates of Kabul airport amid a chaotic rush to leave Afghanistan, US war correspondent and former special forces soldier Michael Yon told RT.

On Sunday, White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain was forced to acknowledge that around 100 Americans still remained in the turbulent country a week after the Biden administration’s August 31 deadline to get everybody out expired.

Former special forces soldier-turned-journalist Michael Yon, who was among the volunteers helping to airlift Americans out of Afghanistan, has shared with RT some disturbing details of how holders of US passports were left behind by their own military.

On August 30, Taliban members delivered a mother with three children as well as 45 other American citizens to the gates of Kabul airport. Three civilian jets, which had been paid for by volunteers, were waiting for them at the airfield.

Erdogan's Plans For The Future Of Afghanistan: China, Russia, & Terrorists

The US and the EU should not buy Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's fake pro-Western posture (such as when he offered to run the Kabul airport, then fled) or his fake anti-radicalism (such as when he is courting the Afghan terrorists). Erdogan's strategy, as a member of NATO, is clearly to bolster Russia's and China's plans for the future of Afghanistan.

When the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in December 1979 in support of the communist Afghan government, then in conflict with radical Muslim fighters, Turkey was having its own civil war between ultra-left and ultra-right factions. In September 1980, the Turkish military staged a coup d'état and banned all political parties, including Islamist ones.

Astonishing photos show how US military has turned a two-mile RUNWAY at Ramstein Air Base in Germany into tent city to house thousands of Afghan evacuees before flying them to their new homes in America

Remarkable new photos show the scale of the U.S. operations at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, as thousands of Afghans evacuated from Kabul are processed for their journey on to the United States.

The base, in south west Germany, has turned one of its two runways - which are both around two miles long - into an enormous tent city to provide living quarters for the tens of thousands of Afghans who have been evacuated there.

Those tents - which have been photographed from the air to show the sheer scale of the evacuation operation, are split into pods to give their occupants' privacy, with hundreds of porta potties also visible along the edges of the air strip.

Only men sleep in the tents, with women and children housed separately in hangars normally used to store military aircraft at the base, which is run jointly by the US Air Force and Army.

Antony Blinken Accepts Taliban Promise of Safety for Afghanistan Escapees

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Tuesday he accepted the Taliban’s repeated promises of safe passage for anyone seeking to flee the country.

He spoke after his meeting with Qatari officials on accelerating evacuations in his first trip since the establishment of the self-proclaimed Islamic Caliphate in Afghanistan.

Representatives of the terrorist organization told the United States “they will let people with travel documents freely depart,” Blinken informed a news conference in Doha where he and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin met their Qatari opposite numbers.

“We will hold them to that,” he added, AFP reports.

Hostage Situation Starts To Unravel

Congressman Michael McCaul, the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, insisted that the Taliban are not permitting planes taking Americans to depart from Afghanistan.

The congressman said “zero” Americans have been able to leave the country since the U.S. military withdrew from Afghanistan less than a week ago because the Taliban are holding them "hostage."

“We have six airplanes at Mazar-i-Sharif airport, six airplanes, with American citizens on them as I speak, also with these interpreters, and the Taliban is holding them hostage for demands right now,” he said on Fox News Sunday morning. “State has cleared these flights, and the Taliban will not let them leave the airport.”

Gold Star Father: Biden ‘Talked More About His Son Than My Son’

After meeting with President Joe Biden, two Gold Star fathers of U.S. Marines killed during the terrorist bombing in Kabul, Afghanistan, spoke out about their experiences.

Mark Schmitz, the father of Marine Jared Schmitz, and Darin Hoover, the father of Marine Darin Taylor Hoover Jr. recently appeared on Sean Hannity’s program on Fox News.

Schmitz met with Biden. Hoover had a different attitude, telling Hannity, “we didn’t want [Biden] anywhere near us,” Fox News reported.

Schmitz appeared to take offense that the president talked more about his late son, Beau Biden, than he did Jared Schmitz.

“Initially, I wasn’t going to meet with him,” Schmitz said. “But then I felt I owed it to my son to at least have some words with him about how I felt – and it didn’t go well.”

‘Everything Felt Fake’: Sister of Fallen Marine Says Biden Didn’t Look Her in the Eye During Meeting

ROB FINNERTY: Your father and your sister chose not to meet President Biden at the dignified transfer, but you did alongside Rylee’s widow, who is pregnant. Tell us about that.

CHEYENNE MCCOLLUM: I wouldn’t say I necessarily stayed to meet him. I stayed to support Rylee’s wife because I didn’t want her to sit alone and she wanted the chance to look him in the eye, so I sat beside her to do that as well. I stayed and when he came up to us, about 15 seconds in I had to walk away. It was so insincere. He didn’t look us in the eye, he gave her a pat on the knee and said, “I know what you’re going through, I lost my son.” He didn’t lose his son serving.

FINNERTY: What else did he say in that interaction and how long did it last?

Taliban Say They Took Panjshir, Last Holdout Afghan Province

The Taliban said on Monday they have taken control of Panjshir province north of Kabul, the last holdout of anti-Taliban forces in the country and the only province the Taliban had not seized during their blitz across Afghanistan last month.

Thousands of Taliban fighters overran eight districts of Panjshir overnight, according to witnesses from the area who spoke on condition of anonymity, fearing for their safety. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid issued a statement, saying Panjshir was now under control of Taliban fighters.

“We tried our best to solve the problem through negotiations, and they rejected talks and then we had to send our forces to fight,” Mujahid told a press conference in Kabul later Monday.

The anti-Taliban forces had been led by the former vice president, Amrullah Saleh, and also the son of the iconic anti-Taliban fighter Ahmad Shah Massoud who was killed just days before the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the United States.

Taliban Claim Total Control Over Afghanistan

The Taliban on Monday claimed total control over Afghanistan, saying they had won the key battle for the Panjshir Valley, the last remaining holdout of resistance against their rule.

Following their lightning-fast victory in mid-August over the former Afghan government's security forces and the withdrawal of US troops after 20 years of war, the Taliban turned to fighting the forces defending the mountainous Panjshir Valley.

As the Islamist hardliners claimed victory, their chief spokesman warned against any further attempts to rise up against their rule while urging former members of the security forces to join their regime's ranks.

Nikki Haley warns CHINA could take over Bagram air base as Taliban look to Beijing for help

The U.S. must rebuild fragile alliances with partner nations or risk rivals such as China moving into Afghanistan to collect strategic assets including Bagram Air Base, according to Nikki Haley, the former ambassador to the United Nations.

The fate of the base, abandoned by U.S. troops in the middle of the night at the start of July, has been seized on by President Biden's critics to symbolize what they say was an ill-thought out withdrawal.

And now the base, which was once the hub of America's war in Afghanistan, could be a prize for rivals seeking to extend their reach.

US Troops 'Will Be Going Back Into Afghanistan': Lindsey Graham

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham has been ramping up calls to impeach US President Joe Biden over the hectic troop pullout from Afghanistan, insisting that the “derelict” commander-in-chief had “ignored sound advice” in relation to the withdrawal operation.

Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) believes that American troops will return to Afghanistan despite the chaotic military withdrawal from the country that was completed on 30 August.

“We will be going back to Afghanistan as we went back into Iraq and Syria,” Graham said in an interview with BBC.

Hundreds Of Afghani Refugees Have Been Flagged For Terrorism

Roughly 100 Afghan escapees from Afghanistan to the United States have been tagged for potential links to terrorist organizations, including the Taliban, a new report reveals.

"Of more than 30,000 evacuees from Afghanistan to the U.S., about 10,000 needed additional screening as of Friday," NBC News reported, citing two sources familiar with evacuation efforts. "And of those about 100 were flagged for possible ties to the Taliban or terror groups."

The report stated that two of the flagged Afghans "raised enough concern for additional review" and are being sent to Kosovo for further review amid security concerns.

"A lot of people were moved very quickly and the intelligence community has been working hard to evaluate whether any of them pose a threat," said a senior federal law enforcement official, according to the report.

Taliban STOP six planes carrying American citizens and allies from leaving Afghanistan airport: Top Republican says passengers are being 'held hostage for demands'

Video footage from a Coastal Carolina Chanticleers football game over the weekend show fans at the Brooks Stadium, which seats some 21,000 people, break into a spirited chant of “F**k Joe Biden.” Another video captured the same chant at the even larger Lane Stadium in Virginia Tech, where players and fans enraged liberals on social media by celebrating the start of football season with Metallica’s “Enter Sandman.”

At the Coastal Carolina game, fans could be seen clapping and chanting in unison to the chant of “F**k Joe Biden!” Biden’s mismanagement of messaging on COVID and his general lack of support among large swaths of the American public have led to increasingly vocal public dissent from the Biden regime in recent weeks.

'If one life is lost, the blood is on White House hands': Fury at State Department for 'delaying six flights out of Afghanistan carrying more than 100 US citizens'

The US State Department has been accused of blocking dozens of Americans from fleeing Afghanistan after failing to tell the Taliban it had green-lighted charter flights.

On Sunday, Reuters reported that the delay had been caused by Biden administration officials not telling Taliban leaders it had approved the departures of the chartered flights from an airport in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, 260 miles north of Afghan capital Kabul.

An exasperated flight organizer hit out at the State Department over the fiasco, saying: 'They need to be held accountable for putting these people's lives in danger.'

Escobar: Why The Taliban Still Can't Form A Government

nternal Taliban divisions come to the fore as squabbling hinders the formation of Afghanistan’s new Islamic Emirate...

It looked like everything was set for the Taliban to announce the new government of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan after this Friday’s afternoon prayers. But then internal dissent prevailed.

That was compounded by the adverse optics of a ragtag “resistance” in the Panjshir Valley that is still not subdued. The “resistance” is de facto led by a CIA asset, former vice president Amrullah Saleh.

The Taliban maintain they have captured several districts and at least four checkpoints at the Panjshir, controlling 20% of its territory. Still, there’s no endgame in sight.

Supreme Leader Haibatullah Akhundzada, a Kandahar religious scholar, is expected to be the new power of the Islamic Emirate when it’s finally formed.

Mullah Baradar will likely preside just below him as a presidential figure along with a 12-member governing council known as a “shura.”

Taliban Tells British Press: ‘We Want Islamic Law, and Not Just in Afghanistan’

The Taliban said they want Islamic law both at home and abroad and warned Western forces they will face another 20-year quagmire if they return in an impromptu meeting with The Telegraph.

The right-leaning British newspaper, which is close to Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s government, took “tea with the Taliban” after turning up a captured government building in Kabul, where an Islamist official told them they were “very happy that we are now the leaders of the government” and “want to have good relations with all the rest of the world. We want to work with foreigners and have good relations.”

A Taliban commander from Kandahar province who the newspaper spoke to outside another seized government building indicated that such foreign engagement would be very much on the Islamists’ terms, however.

“We are happy that we are victorious. We fought for 20 years. We want Islamic law, and not just in Afghanistan,” said the commander, whose name was given only as Nisar.

Biden LIED About The Taliban And This Man Can Prove It

A U.S. Representative from Oklahoma, who made two unauthorized trips in efforts to enter Afghanistan and help with the evacuation effort, reveals he has proof that President Joe Biden lied about Americans and visa holder's access to Kabul Airport.

U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin, 44, a member of the House Intelligence Committee, appeared on Fox's Special Report with Bret Baier and claimed he has accessed secret recordings of Americans failing to get to the airport in time for the final evacuation. He signaled that he has recordings of one woman and her four kids who were denied access to the airport after trying to get in for 12 hours.

'Five times she approached this guard with the Taliban, the last time they stuck a pistol to her head with her kids there,' he stated, adding the woman went back home the final time and became physically ill, never trying again to reach the airport.

Taliban Tells State Department To "Go F**k Yourselves" - Literally

Members of Congress and their staffers who struggled to help Americans and their Afghan allies flee Afghanistan before this week’s withdrawal deadline have revealed some of the frantic messages they got from people desperate to leave in recent days.

Various outlets reported on the challenges facing would-be evacuees who tried to get to Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport through a gauntlet of Taliban checkpoints.

Now, the messages acquired by the Washington Examiner show how fraught the situation became in the last days before the last flight left on Aug. 30.

Top US General Says 'Likely' Civil War in Afghanistan Could Prompt 'Reconstitution of Al-Qaeda'

The US completed its troop withdrawal from Afghanistan on August 30, just a day before the official deadline. While the closure marked the end of the US' near 20-year mission in the Afghanistan, it has also raised concerns about the future of the Central Asian nation.

A top US military general admitted on Saturday that Afghanistan could soon see a civil war break out with warring factions in the nation, warning that such a development could pave the way for the resurgence of al-Qaeda.

The prediction was voiced by top US Gen. Mark Milley, who serves as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, during an interview in Ramstein, Germany, with Fox News' Jennifer Griffin. At the time, Milley had been at the American base to offer his well wishes to troops involved in the process of evacuating Afghans.

Male Afghan evacuees trafficking their child brides into the US: State Department seeks 'urgent guidance' on older men presenting underage girls as their 'wives' at intake centers

U.S. officials are looking into reports that in the frantic evacuation of desperate Afghans from Kabul, older men were admitted together with young girls they claimed as 'brides' or otherwise sexually abused.

U.S. officials at intake centers in the United Arab Emirates and in Wisconsin have identified numerous incidents in which Afghan girls have been presented to authorities as the 'wives' of much older men.

How elite US institutions created Afghanistan’s neoliberal President Ashraf Ghani, who stole $169 million from his country

No individual is more emblematic of the corruption, criminality, and moral rot at the heart of the 20-year US occupation of Afghanistan than President Ashraf Ghani.

As the Taliban took over his country this August, advancing with the momentum of a bowling ball rolling down a steep hill, seizing many major cities without firing a single bullet, Ghani fled in disgrace.

The US-backed puppet leader allegedly made his escape with $169 million that he stole from the public coffers. Ghani reportedly crammed the cash into four cars and a helicopter, before flying to the United Arab Emirates, which granted him asylum on supposed “humanitarian” grounds.

The president’s corruption had been exposed before. It was known, for instance, that Ghani had brokered shady deals with his brother and US military-linked private companies, letting them tap into Afghanistan’s estimated $1 trillion in mineral reserves. But his last-minute exit represented an entirely new level of treachery.

Taliban to ‘actively support’ belt and road plan of ‘trustworthy friend’ China

Afghanistan will continue to participate in China’s Belt and Road Initiative, the Taliban have said, expressing hopes to rely on Beijing’s investment and support to rebuild the war-ravaged country while promising to protect Chinese interests there.

The pledge from Abdul Salam Hanafi, deputy director of the Taliban’s office in Doha, Qatar, came as China aimed to consolidate relations with the Afghan regime led by the Islamic militant group, despite many uncertainties.

In a phone conversation with Chinese assistant foreign minister Wu Jianghao on Thursday, Hanafi said the Islamic group would “take effective measures” to protect Chinese institutions and personnel in Afghanistan.

Exclusive — Oliver North: Weapons, Equipment Abandoned in Afghanistan Will Be ‘Reverse-Engineered in China, ‘Used Against Us’

U.S. weapons and military equipment abandoned by the Biden administration in Afghanistan will be reverse-engineered by China and Russia and then used against American interests, retired Lt. Col. Oliver North said on Wednesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow.

The Biden administration leftist behind “some of the most sophisticated weapons and equipment we’ve ever made for the military,” North stated. He warned, “It’s going to be reverse-engineered in China. It will be reverse-engineered in Russia. It will be used against us in other campaigns.”

North predicted that the Taliban, ISIS, and Haqqani Network would collectively become “the best armed criminal enterprise in the history of mankind” due to the Pentagon’s abandonment of military equipment, vehicles, and weaponry in Afghanistan.

State Department Still Blocking Americans From Leaving Afghanistan

Michael Yon.

We have Americans with blue passports ready to leave Afghanistan. Taliban will allow landing. US Department of State blocking flights. Rick Clay’s team has three jets ready. These jets were on ground on 30 August 2021.

Senator Johnson’s team called us and we on conference call right now.

Our government is blocking taking out Americans from Afghanistan. Taliban is helping. US State Department blocking.

He has started a Go Fund Me campaign to go back to Afghanistan and try to do some good if possible.

I told Michael by text message that none of this is surprising and I still believe there is more than meets the eye. I do not believe any of this is due to incompetence or accident. This is all intentional. Every bit of it.

Wayne Dupree: Biden’s abandonment of Americans in Afghanistan is unforgivable and must NEVER be forgotten

Joe Biden deserves to be labeled the worst president ever for his callous and incompetent handling of the Afghan evacuation. He should be removed from office – even if that means Kamala Harris stepping up to the top job.

As the scramble to leave Afghanistan first got under way, the early reports suggested that there were thousands upon thousands of Americans in the country. Then representatives of the Biden administration stood in front of the nation every day claiming they didn’t know exactly how many were in the region. And now his generals are saying there are “several hundred” Americans still stranded – abandoned – out there.

Neither the press nor anyone in the Biden-Harris administration has the integrity or moral courage to address that discrepancy, to which we have become accustomed in this never-ending shambles.

EU is split on taking Afghan refugees, and it’s hard to blame those who don’t want another mass influx

The countries that bore the brunt of the European Union’s refugee crisis five years ago are now expressing doubts over the wisdom of accepting those fleeing Afghanistan. As harsh as this may sound, I understand their concerns.

Cracks are beginning to develop within the EU regarding its response to the inevitable Afghan refugee crisis. Whereas some member states want the bloc to continue with a liberal approach and welcoming fleeing Afghans, others seem determined not to see a repeat of the mistakes made five years ago.

These differences burst out into the open yesterday, when the EU’s interior ministers met in Brussels. For example, Luxembourg’s Jean Asselborn, who is keen to pursue a liberal policy, argued that “it can’t be just the UK that has pledged 20,000 settlements. Europe must also go in that direction.”

Joe Biden invoking his son Beau's death shows how out of touch he is with the consequences of his decisions as commander-in-chief

Six years ago, Beau Biden tragically died of brain cancer. In the intervening time, his honorable, but normal, service in the Delaware National Guard has been transformed by his dad into a myth insulting to real combat veterans.

One of the toughest jobs a president of the United States has is his role as commander-in-chief. Ordering the men and women who wear the uniform of the US military, and who have taken an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, into harm’s way is no small thing.

This task is only exceeded by the need to explain this decision to the people and, more importantly, to the families and loved ones, following the death of one or more service members while carrying out the president’s orders.

GOP Rep. Kustoff: Call Transcript Shows Biden ‘Knew Exactly What Was Unfolding’ in Afghanistan and Cared about Perception over Lives

On Thursday’s broadcast of the Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria,” Rep. Report: U.S.-Funded Afghan Military Equipment Spotted in Iran

U.S. government-funded military equipment given to the Afghan Army during America’s two-decade occupation of Afghanistan has allegedly been spotted in Iran in recent days according to unverified social media photos, Al Arabiya reported Thursday.

“Several US military armored vehicles, which allegedly belonged to the Afghan army before the Taliban took over control of the country, were spotted in Iran on Wednesday, images shared on social media showed,” the Saudi news site wrote on September 2.

“Some of the images shared on Twitter showed trucks belonging to the Iranian army transporting US Humvees, allegedly taken from Afghanistan, on a highway connecting the central city of Semnan to the city of Garmsar, southeast of the capital Tehran,” Al Arabiya added.

Afghanistan’s former defense minister, Bismillah Mohammadi, shared some of the images via his personal Twitter account on September 1. He did not offer any clarity regarding the source of the images:

CNN’s Lemon on Americans in Afghanistan: ‘We Don’t Know if We Left Them Behind Yet’

CNN anchor Don Lemon on Wednesday during the handoff from fellow anchor Chris Cuomo said we did not yet know if we left “behind” Americans and Afghan allies stranded in Afghanistan.

Lemon said, “Listen, I understand the emotion around it but let’s be a little bit unemotional here, if we can. Wars are terrible. This is our longest war. I think in any situation, whether you agree with the exit or not, you’re not going to get all of the people out that you want in the time period. I think that is asking for something that’s not — you can’t accomplish that. It’s just not going to happen in any situation.”

Exclusive – Rep. Jim Jordan: Same Song, Different Dance: Benghazi & Kabul

Nine years ago, four brave Americans lost their lives in Benghazi, Libya, at the hands of radical Islamic terrorists. Their deaths, we later learned, were the result of a Democrat administration more preoccupied with politics than with facts on the ground.

Last week, in a separate but equally dangerous part of the world, 13 U.S. servicemembers lost their lives at the hands of radical Islamic terrorists outside the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan. Hundreds of other Americans are still in grave danger. The fate of our fellow Americans—and the security of the West—is again in the hands of a Democrat administration more preoccupied with politics than with facts on the ground.

Chris Hedges: The revengeful suffering orchestrated by the American empire on Afghans will be of Biblical proportions

Washington, humiliated in Afghanistan as it was in Iraq, Syria, and Vietnam, is blind to its declining strength, ineptitude, and savagery, but still capable of murderous retribution against those who expose these truths.

The Carthaginian general Hannibal, who came close to defeating the Roman Republic in the Second Punic War, committed suicide in 181 BC in exile as Roman soldiers closed in on his residence in the Bithynian village of Libyssa, now modern-day Turkey. It had been more than thirty years since he led his army across the Alps and annihilated Roman legions at the Battle of Trebia, Lake Trasimene, and Cannae. Considered one of the most brilliant tactical victories in warfare, centuries later it inspired the plans of the German Army Command in World War I when they invaded Belgium and France. Rome was only able to finally save itself from defeat by replicating Hannibal’s military tactics.

Afghanistan: US investigates civilian deaths in Kabul strike

The Pentagon says it can't yet dispute claims that a US drone strike on a suspected suicide bomber in Afghanistan killed a number of civilians.

The strike, near Kabul airport, killed 10 members of one family, including six children, relatives have told the BBC.

The US military said it was targeting a vehicle carrying at least one person associated with the Afghan branch of the Islamic State group.

The US was assessing and investigating reports of civilian deaths, it added.

American commanders said there were "significant secondary explosions" after the drone strike - implying there were explosives at the scene - which may have harmed people nearby.

The youngest child to be killed was two-year-old Sumaya, and the oldest child was 12-year-old Farzad, the family told the BBC.

The Afghan Fiasco Will Stick to Biden

August changed things; it wasn’t just a bad month. It left a lingering, still head-shaking sense of “This isn’t how we do things.”

We don’t make up withdrawal dates that will have symbolism for photo-ops with the flinty, determined president looking flinty and determined on the 20th anniversary of 9/11; we don’t time epic strategic decisions around showbiz exigencies. We wait for the summer fighting season to pass; we withdraw in the winter when Taliban warriors are shivering in their caves. We don’t leave our major air base in the middle of the night—in the middle of the night—without even telling the Afghan military. We don’t leave our weapons behind so 20-year-old enemies can don them for military playacting and drive up and down with the guns and helmets.

Shock: Biden Admin Turns To Socials To Hide Scale Of Afghanistan Debacle

Biden administration officials directed federal agencies to wipe any detailed lists from their websites that describe quantities or cost of U.S. military equipment and training to Afghanistan security forces, according to the State Department. The request was then made to some big tech companies asking them to help them locate these posts.

Public relations to stories about the tens of billions of dollars in equipment issued by multiple agencies, including Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction and the Governmental Accountability Office, are now dead.

A State Department spokesperson on Wednesday confirmed the agency's role in the reports' withdrawals, which were reported on Tuesday by OpenTheBooks.com founder Adam Andrzejewski, and said the department gave the directions to defend Afghan allies after the U.S.-backed government's fall and the Taliban's takeover of most of the nation.

Foreign Aid May Have Exacerbated Afghan Conflict, Experts Warn

In the words of SIGAR Special Inspector John Sopko, the West “poured in too much money, too quickly and above all with too little control”, which allowed warlords and local bosses to become extremely rich.

The Taliban takeover that followed the ignominious US-led retreat; the ouster of the West-backed government has spurred a re-evaluation of overseas aid to Afghanistan, its extent and placement.

Several experts have argued that the lack of control over aid to Afghanistan may have actually exacerbated the situation in the war-torn country.

“I believe it is a correct assessment that aid funds without sufficient control may have aggravated the conflict. Even well-controlled aid can contribute to conflicts,” Heléne Lackenbauer, research leader and Afghanistan expert at the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI), told the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

Taliban Says China Will Be Afghanistan’s ‘Most Important Partner’

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in an interview published on Thursday that China will be Afghanistan’s “most important partner” as the new Taliban-led government is seeking infrastructure investments.

“China is our most important partner and represents a fundamental and extraordinary opportunity for us, because it is ready to invest and rebuild our country,” Mujahid told the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

Mujahid said there are “rich copper mines in the country, which, thanks to the Chinese, can be put back into operation and modernized. In addition, China is our pass to markets all over the world.”

The Fall of Kabul, “The Fall of Democracy”. Hubris of Western Plutocracies

“Democracy” seems to be under threat again, this time in Kabul. We are told that a horrible force is at the helm of power in Afghanistan, the Taliban – yes, the same Taliban that the US-NATO vanquished and dethroned in 2001. The so-called democracy that Western forces had gifted to Afghans was now being forcefully overturned.

On the other hand, the good news is that democracy supposedly remains stable and sturdy in the Western nations that ushered in the era of democracy in Afghanistan from 2001 onwards. There is nothing to worry there. The storming of Washington D.C.’s Capitol Hill in January of this year was simply considered an anomalous instance of an attack on the ‘greatest democracy in the world.’ And the mob assault only served to demonstrate how robust democracy is in America. The solid democratic foundations of the US can withstand anything, so the narrative goes.

American rescue clinic founder stays in Afghanistan to pursue evacuation for staff and animals left behind

An American who founded an animal rescue clinic in Kabul is still in Afghanistan, trying to persuade the Taliban to let her retrieve animals released by the U.S. military and airlift them out of the country with the clinic's employees.

Charlotte Maxwell-Jones was unable to board a military evacuation flight with the animals or charter a private aircraft before international troops left earlier this week.

The U.S. military released the clinic's animals from their cages in an enclosed area at the Kabul airport that had previously been used by the former Afghan army, Maxwell-Jones and a Pentagon statement said.

Maxwell-Jones founded Kabul Small Animal Rescue in 2018 to rescue strays, provide veterinary services and help ship animals abroad for adoption. American service members who befriended animals during their deployments and wanted to bring them home have been among her most steady clientele.

Out of Afghan frying pan & into Ukrainian fire? America’s empire builders have another pawn to fuel their apocalyptic chess game

The Ukrainian President's trip to Washington has drawn out the West’s “Russia-watchers” in force. Among them is Michael McFaul, a former US ambassador to Moscow who has since morphed into a prolific, if unreliable, commentator.

In a new op-ed in the Washington Post, McFaul makes it clear he sees Volodymyr Zelensky’s meeting with President Joe Biden as in need of a loud battle cry, appealing to the American government and the public to rally behind Ukraine’s calls for support. But, as is customary in the Stanford professor’s output, Kiev is really just an excuse, almost reduced to a mere pretext.

In reality, McFaul has a much larger (and very old) ax to grind, namely with Russia (and Belarus and China thrown in, too, for good measure). In his best Cold War-reenactor fashion, the former – and somewhat hapless and gaffe-prone – diplomat wants us to believe in three main things: dominos, good “sons of b**ches,” and strategic silence.

As Afghan war ends, House approves $24bn bump for Pentagon budget

Just after the US military’s wasteful Afghanistan mission came to a close, House legislators marked almost $24 billion in extra defense spending supposedly needed to maintain America’s competitive edge against Russia and China.

The House Armed Services Committee held a marathon session on Wednesday to markup the spending under the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Lawmakers from both parties joined forces to defy President Joe Biden’s intention to keep the Pentagon budget at $715 billion for next year, essentially keeping it at the same level as last year. Instead, an extra $23.9 billion was set to be poured into weapons procurement, research and other areas.

The financial boost was proposed by Rep. Mike Rogers of Alabama, the ranking Republican member on the committee, who welcomed the passage of his proposal as a snub to Biden from his own party.

Reports further quantified 208 aircraft and helicopters; 75,000 war vehicles – including 22 Humvees, 50,000 tactical vehicles and nearly 1,000 mine resistant vehicles; and 600,000 weapons – including 350,000 M4 and M16 rifles, 60,000 machine guns, and 25,000 grenade launchers.

US Left Behind Majority Of Afghan Allies Who Applied For Visas: REPORT

The U.S. abandoned more than half of all interpreters and Afghans who applied for special immigrant visas (SIV), a senior State Department official told The Wall Street Journal.

The official didn’t share specific information or figures, but estimated that a majority of the visa applicants were left behind in Afghanistan, the WSJ reported. The Department of State doesn’t have exact data on who was evacuated from the Middle Eastern nation after the Taliban took control of the capital city of Kabul, due to the urgent nature of the operation.

“I would say it’s the majority of them,” the administration official told the WSJ. “Just based on anecdotal information about the populations we were able to support.”

General McKenzie Lied as U.S. Military Abandons THOUSANDS of Americans to the Taliban

Reports from the ground in Kabul and throughout Afghanistan indicate there are thousands of Americans stranded by the Biden regime. General McKenzie is basing his “very few hundreds” comment on those who have gone through official channels to specifically declare they want to leave and who have demonstrated they are American citizens. But many, many more were either unable to go through official channels as they evaded the Taliban or could not sufficiently prove they were American citizens. If they couldn’t fax a passport to the Embassy, they weren’t counted, according to sources at the State Department.

NATO’s Obsolescence: Ukraine, Turkey, Brazil and now Afghanistan

The latest rejection from Biden came with the reprimand that Ukraine still has too much corruption, and a highly insulted Zelensky deflected this, refraining from raising Biden’s personal role in Ukrainian corruption. Zelensky claims that not allowing Ukraine into NATO was a sign of Russia’s growing relative influence, a fair point and probably accurate. Of course for Russia’s influence to grow only at minimum requires the inverse corollary; that NATO’s influence is shrinking.

Taliban greenlight construction of trans-Afghan gas pipeline

The Taliban have confirmed their willingness to build the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) gas pipeline which would export Turkmen gas for the development of Central Asia.

This project had been developed by Argentinian oil magnate Carlos Bulgheroni (Bridas) with the Turkmen government in the 1990s. It was to be financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). But it entered into competition with a project sponsored by California-based UNOCAL. After an agreement between the two companies was reached, negotiations between the United States and the Taliban took place in Berlin in violation of the travel ban issued by the UN Security Council against the Taliban. It was the failure of these talks in the summer of 2001 that sparked the US war against Afghanistan (and not the attacks of September 11, 2001).
