Hollywood is fleeing California in favor of New Mexico, enticed by the state's 35 per cent tax breaks and looser COVID-19 restrictions.

The tax incentive this year has already brought $623 million into the Land of Enchantment- or Tamalewood as the locals have nicknamed it.

Netflix and NBCUniversal both built production studios in New Mexico this year after signing deals a few years back. Netflix penned a $2billion deal to produce content in the state over the next decade while NBCUniversal committed to a $500 million deal.

Netflix's desert plateau southeast of Mesa Del Sol containing 10 new sound stages and training facilities is now the company's main North American location and one of the largest film production complexes in the country.

An incoming college freshman was denied admission to her dream school and lost $200,000 in scholarships because she would not get vaccinated against coronavirus due to a pre-existing medical condition.

Olivia Sandor, 18, said Brigham Young University–Hawaii (BYUH) denied her fall admission due to state and college vaccination requirements, despite the fact that they had already awarded her scholarship money.

Sandor, who suffers from Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), shared her story on Sean Hannity's Fox News program on Monday night and explained how she'd requested an exemption from the school's vaccination requirement after her team of medical providers advised against her getting the COVID-19 shot.

But the university denied her request for exemption - and told her to re-enroll after getting vaccinated.

Virginia PTA Leader Ousted After Being Caught Wishing Death On Anti-Critical Race Theory Parents

A Virginia Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) official has resigned after she was seen on video at a protest making incendiary remarks about parents who oppose critical race theory.

In a statement released over the weekend, the PTA said that its “executive committee requested and received the resignation of Michelle Leete, who served as Vice President of Training.”

“The actions & rhetoric of Ms. Leete & all of the like-minded partisan supporters of the SB are deeply disappointing. Leete was recorded at a counter-protest criticizing those who oppose critical race theory (CRT), an offshoot of the European Marxist school of critical theory, being taught inside classrooms.

“Let them die,” Leete said, apparently referring to CRT’s opponents during the demonstration.

The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday ruled against the University of Iowa calling its decision to deregister a Christian student group as one of the most obvious examples of discrimination that it has ever seen.

In a ruling issued on Friday, the court unanimously sided with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, a national faith-based group that organizes local chapters at colleges and universities around the country, putting on Bible studies and worship gatherings.

In 2018, the University of Iowa decided to deregister InterVarsity — along with other student religious groups on campus — over its commonsense practice of requiring leaders to agree with its statement of faith.

In targeting religious groups, the university cited its Human Rights Policy, which mandates that student groups not differentiate on the basis of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, and a range of other categories — religion included.

Illinois' Education Spending Soars While Outcomes Flatlined, New Census Data Shows

A Wirepoints analysis of new U.S. Census education finance data for 2019 dispels the constant claims by lawmakers and education officials that Illinois needs billions in additional Pre-K to 12 funding. At $16,227 per student, Illinois spent more in 2019 than every state in the entire Midwest, a position Illinois has held since 2010.

The National Education Association (NEA), the largest teachers union in the US representing 3 million public school employees in all 50 states, has thrown its weight behind critical race theory (CRT) pledging to hire staff to "fight back" against those who oppose these ideas and practices.

The War on Reality

On March 13, 2020, the public school district where I teach announced that all classrooms and buildings would be closed for two weeks. Then two weeks turned into two months, and two months turned into over a full year without in-person instruction. My school serves a diverse population of low-income students in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is impossible to overstate the severity of this disruption caused by school closures for these students, many of whom did not have a computer or internet at home when virtual learning began. Online, my students got only a fraction of the regular curriculum. Kids who had once loved the social aspects of school were left with only the parts of school they hated, and students with disabilities who depended on school for daily living needs were cut off from a vital service.

The students allege that the university’s policy violates both their constitutional rights and the state’s new vaccine passport law.

On Monday, June 21st, eight Indiana University students filed a federal lawsuit against their school, claiming that IU’s vaccine mandate violated their constitutional rights as well as Indiana’s vaccine passport law which has been in place since April.

When alleging the unconstitutionality of IU’s vaccine mandate, the students cite the right to bodily integrity under the 14th Amendment, asserting that this right is being stripped from them when their public university forces them to get vaccinated...

Recent Supreme Court Off-Campus Free Speech Win To Face Reality Of Anti-Free Speech Student Attitudes

Last week, the Supreme Court decided the case of Mahanoy Area School District v. Levy. The Court considered whether schools could regulate student speech that occurs off-campus and outside of school hours.

And it came down decisively in favor of the First Amendment.

Those who favor clamping down on student speech will argue that the decision is limited to its facts. But in actuality, the opinions’ implications are far-reaching and will likely transform the landscape of speech codes at colleges and universities and possibly beyond.

While the First Amendment serves as a bulwark against government suppression of speech and not that of private industry, the Court’s decision sends a message about the importance of free expression. It serves as a warning shot to those perpetrators of cancel culture that punitive action against those who express unpopular viewpoints – the so-called “heckler’s veto” – is strongly disfavored.

A middle school teacher from Washington State has come in for criticism after handing out flyers that advised students on sex and how to go about getting a abortion, without first getting the consent of parents.

The fact sheet, which was said to have been produced by Planned Parenthood, told eighth-grade kids aged 13 and 14 that they could obtain abortions 'AT ANY AGE' and without parental consent.

It went on to state they could also purchase condoms 'AT ANY AGE' and that someone could engage in sex as young as 11 so long as their partner was less than two years older than them.

Pitzer College to go ‘test-blind’ in order to send ‘strong message’ about ‘equity’

Pitzer College in California has adopted a “test-blind” admission policy, meaning that standardized tests including the SAT and ACT “will be eliminated from the admission review process entirely.”

According to a June 8 press release, the college will be adopting this new “test-blind” policy beginning in the admission cycle for fall 2022.

“Being test-blind means scores from standardized college entrance tests—the SAT and ACT—will be eliminated from the admission review process entirely,” the press release states.

Yvonne Berumen, the vice president for admission and financial aid at Pitzer College, said in the press release that “The elimination of standardized test scores from our review process entirely has the potential to send a strong message about equity, access, inclusivity, and excellence.”

Professors at Symposium Declare That Using Correct Grammar is Racist

Speakers at Towson University’s virtual “Antiracist Pedagogy Symposium” criticized university writing curriculum and programs for being racist and perpetuating Whiteness.

April Baker-Bell, associate Professor of Language, Literacy, and English Education at Michigan State University, argued that idea of Standard English among teachers is used to maintain racist assumptions about “Black language.”

There is a war on asian enrollment at elite public high schools, where standardized testing has resulted in large asian student enrollments and lower black and hispanic enrollments.

New Cal State LA Ethnic Studies Dean Backed Farrakhan, Wished Clarence Thomas Dead

The incoming dean of the newly created College of Ethnic Studies at California State University, Los Angeles is an ally of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan and has publicly expressed hope that Clarence Thomas dies an early death.

During a public television appearance in 1994, Malveaux said of Justice Clarence Thomas: “I hope his wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter and he dies early, like many black men do, of heart disease.”

In a 2018 column for the Birmingham Times, she wrote, “White people’s hatred for Minister Farrakhan is irrational and, might I say, racist.”

A 2018 article in the Nation of Islam’s newspaper, the Final Call, quoted Malveaux as saying, “until these Jewish people who are running around asking Black people to buck dance, until they ask White people to buck dance, I ain’t having it! I’m just not having it!” The article also quoted her as saying, “Min. Farrakhan has never picked up a gun and shot anybody. These people need to just back off.”

The Higher Education Bubble Has Popped

The higher education bubble has been rapidly inflating, threatening to pop at any moment. Over the past several decades, our culture has tipped the scales from praising and valuing education to downright socially mandating it. As a result, enrollment has skyrocketed to levels never before seen.

While broadening access to higher education is, of course, an ideal to strive for, we’re doing a cultural disservice to young generations by stigmatizing alternative options such as trade school. Increasingly, students feel as though they must get a degree to get a halfway decent job—or even just for the sake of social acceptance.

As a result, more and more students are phoning it in with degrees in increasingly bizarre and niche fields. These curricula equip them with a handle on abstract theory rather than tangible professional skills. After all, how many scholars of gender studies are actually sustaining themselves outside of the higher-ed bubble?

But while companies have seen upwards of a 500% increase in their usage, legitimate concerns about their invasiveness, potential bias, and efficacy are also on the rise. These concerns even led to a U.S. Senate inquiry letter requesting detailed information from three of the top proctoring companies—Proctorio, ProctorU, and ExamSoft—which combined have proctored at least 30 million tests over the course of the pandemic. Summary to date: The California “lockdown” to “flatten the curve and keep hospitals running” has lasted since March 3, 2020, despite statutory limit for emergency powers due to “beyond control” hospitals lasting only 60 days (§ 8627.5 California Emergency Services Act). Thankfully, our local hospitals have been in full control of patient numbers at all times.

As a NorCal public school teacher, I inquired to our district’s leadership and teachers’ union how their negotiated policy to “obey” county “health” “orders” is legal given the above reasonable limits to dictatorial authority.

Conventional wisdom would have it that the “black” in black holes has nothing to do with race. Surely there can be no connection between the cosmos and the idea of racial blackness. Can there? Frustrated by school closures and district “Zoom schooling,” families fled public schools in droves over the past year, and there are several signs that these families won’t be returning this fall.

According to an analysis by Chalkbeat and the Associated Press, public school enrollment fell by an average of 2.6 percent across 41 states last fall, with states such as Michigan, Maine, Vermont, and Mississippi dropping by more than 4 percent. California University to Hold Segregated ‘Cultural Graduation’ Ceremonies Based on Race and Identity

Chapman University in California is having segregated “Cultural Graduation” ceremonies including “Black Graduation,” “APIDA Graduation,” “Lavender Graduation,” “disability Graduation,” “Middle Eastern Graduation,” and “Latinx Graduation.”

Oregon students shouldn’t have to prove they can write or do math to get a diploma, lawmakers decide

A bill to prohibit Oregon schools from requiring students to show they can read, write and do math at a basic high school level is headed to Gov. Kate Brown after lawmakers gave final approval Wednesday.

The idea is to hit pause on the requirements, in place since 2009 but already suspended during the pandemic, at least until the class of 2024 gets their diplomas and for Oregon to thoughtfully reexamine its graduation requirements in the meantime. A report recommending what the new standards should be is due to the Legislature and Oregon Board of Education by September 2022.

But since Oregon has long insisted it would not impose new graduation requirements on students who have already begun high school, new requirements would not take effect until the class of 2027 at the very earliest. So at least five more classes could be expected to graduate without needing to demonstrate roughly 10th grade level proficiency in math and writing.

An open letter addressed to the university’s vice-chancellor Dame Nancy Rothwell said the Israeli university was “deeply implicated” in the May bombardment, which killed 248 Palestinians, including 66 children.

The authors of the letter, signed by 224 people as of Wednesday, said the University of Manchester’s continued relationship with Tel Aviv University is in violation of its commitment to oppose racist violence and oppression.

Massachusetts School District Calls for Students, Teachers to Report Others for ‘Bias’ Incidents

The K-12 district of Wellesley Public Schools (WPS) in Massachusetts released a policy calling for students and teachers to report their peers and colleagues for “incidents of bias” so they may be investigated and punished accordingly.

The Boston area school district’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) created the policy titled “Responding to Incidents of Bias or Discrimination.”

The DEI office defines an “incident of bias” as “conduct, speech or expression that has an impact but may not involve criminal action, but demonstrates conscious or unconscious bias” against any federally protected identity group, i.e., “race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, or disability.”

Hungary moves to prohibit promotion of homosexuality, transgenderism to children

The Hungarian parliament has prepared a bill that would prohibit showing pornographic content or material that encourages homosexuality and transgenderism to minors under 18.

The measure, proposed by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s ruling Fidesz party, explicitly bans “content that depicts sexuality for its own sake, or promotes or displays deviations from the identity of the sex of birth, gender reassignment or homosexuality.”

The legal amendment was added to sweeping legislation against pedophilia that is set for a vote on Tuesday. Fidesz holds a super-majority in the Hungarian legislature.

LGBT ideology in schools, as well as in advertisements and other mass media, effectively would be banned under the anti-pedophilia bill, which also creates new provisions for sexual education, such as a list of approved sex-ed organizations.
