Iraqi Anti-Terror Group Says ‘Fully Prepared’ to Liberate Israeli-Occupied Golan Heights

The official spokesman for Iraq’s Al-Nujaba Movement said his group is fully prepared to liberate the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, emphasizing that all indications attest to the fact that the Tel Aviv is nearing its end.

Nasr Al-Shammari told Lebanon-based Al-Ahed news website that his movement formed the Golan Liberation Brigade in 2017, and the force is particularly working with Syrian resistance fighters to take back the strategic territory.

“Despite the fact that Al-Nujaba Movement is actively involved in the fight against Takfiri terrorist groups in Syria, this brigade is dedicated to confronting the usurping Zionist regime and will remain so. This brigade includes elite fighters, who have received excellent training for such wars, and have the necessary weapons for such battles. They can strike targets deep inside the Israeli-occupied lands and not just the Golan Heights,” Shammari said.

How Washington Is Positioning Al-Qaeda's Founder As Its Rebranded 'Asset

Authored by Ben Norton & Max Blumenthal via TheGrayZone.com,

March 2021 marked the 10th anniversary of the Western regime-change war on Syria. And after a decade of grueling conflict, Washington is still maneuvering to extend its longstanding relationship with the Salafi-jihadist militants fighting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

With the northeastern province of Idlib under the control of a self-proclaimed "Syrian Salvation Government" led by the rebranded version of Syria’s al-Qaeda franchise, and protected under the military aegis of NATO member state Turkey, powerful elements from Brussels to Washington have been working to legitimize its leader.

This June, PBS Frontline aired a special, "The Jihadist," featuring a sit-down interview with Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, de facto president of the "Syrian Salvation Government" and founder of the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda originally called Jabhat al-Nusra, today re-branded as Hay-at Tahrir al-Sham, or HTS.

Webmaster's Commentary:

PBS is, most simply put, just another element in US government psy-ops, period, end of discussion.

And BTW, when was the last time you saw a PBS program critical, in any way, of US governmental agenda?!?

The short answer, is... NEVER.

Syria Rejects US Declaration on Occupied Golan Heights

Syria considers that it has legitimate rights over the Golan region illegally occupied by Israel since 1967.

Syria on Wednesday rejected statements by U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken regarding the Syrian Golan which is occupied by Israel, and reiterated that this is and will continue to be its territory.

According to the Syrian Foreign Ministry, Blinken's pronouncements are part of Washington's continued and unlimited support for the occupying entity and its criminal aggressions.

ISRAEL DEFENSE FORCES STRIKE SYRIA, AS NETANYAHU STRUGGLES TO REMAIN

Israel’s political situation is proving quite precarious for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

As a result, he’s struggling to prove that he’s required at the lead, since Tel Aviv’s enemies will allegedly flourish if Netanyahu is not there.

Late on June 8th, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) struck various targets in southern and central Syria. According to Syrian media, air defense systems managed to shoot down some Israeli missiles which were fired from the direction of Lebanon.

Not all missiles were shot down and some caused damage. The Syrian Observatory of Human Rights claimed that violent explosions were felt in Damascus and around the city, followed by Israeli strikes on military positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA). It also claimed that 10 pro-government fighters were killed in the strikes.

Air strikes also took place in the south of Homs province and in the border zone between Homs and Tartus.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This continued Israeli shelling of Syria, is an attempt at distracting the Israeli people from the very precarious state in which Netanyahu has left the country of Israel.

I hope and pray that he is officially out of office before he can do greater damage (like a massive strike against Iran, for which he will probably give utterly no warning to the US.)but this remains to be seen.

Without the power of the Prime Minister position behind him, he will not be able to excape those corruption charges which have been dogging him for years, so he will fight tooth and nail to prevent this from happening, even though he may well not be able to prevail.

How Washington is positioning Syrian Al-Qaeda’s founder as its ‘asset’

Israeli Airstrikes Hit Several Targets Across Syria

Syrian state media reported a flurry of airstrikes overnight Tuesday. The strikes came from Lebanese airspace, and appear to have been an Israeli attack, which hit and damaged several sites in southern and central Syria.

The Syrian military reported moving to intercept the incoming missiles, and that they had shot some down. Others hit, with media reporting large explosions. Details on what was hit aren’t clear, but Homs Province was apparently among the sites where explosions happened.

Interceptions aside, the fact that multiple targets were hit means we should expect casualties, potentially substantial ones. Despite this, Syrian state media has reported no casualties so far, instead saying that the strikes only caused material damage.

Explosions over Damascus: Syrian air defenses light up sky in response to ‘Israeli aggression’ – state media

Syrian air defenses have been activated against missiles allegedly launched from Lebanese airspace by Israel, state news agency SANA has reported. The attack is said to be targeting Damascus and Homs.
The attack began shortly before midnight local time on Tuesday, according to the agency.

A “very loud” explosion shook Damascus, local residents reportedly posted on Facebook. There have been unconfirmed reports of material damage from the strikes, but no casualties so far.

A Decade On: West’s War on Syria Continues

By Brian Berletic

As Syrian elections approached, the US, France, and Germany worked together to undermine them. This was not because they truly believed the elections weren’t “free and fair,” but simply because there is no possibility for their client regime of choice to come to power.

This is despite these same Western nations – hand-in-hand – lecturing the world about “democracy,” and using its alleged “lacking” as a pretext to interfere in the affairs of nations worldwide.

The true irony is – even as the UN condemns pressure placed on Syrian voters by factions in Lebanon – the UN appears reluctant to condemn similar pressure or outright restrictions the West is placing on Syrians to likewise inhibit their ability to vote...

War monitor: Half a million Syrians killed in past ten years

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said nearly half a million Syrians have been killed since the war erupted in 2011.

The rights body said in a new report marking the tenth anniversary of Syria's war, that it has documented the killing of 494,438 people since March 2011 when Syrian regime forces cracked down on peaceful protesters demanding political reform.

SOHR Director, Rami Abdel Rahman, told AFP that the recent unprecedented lull in the conflict has "provided us with a window to document tens of thousands of cases for which we lacked evidence", adding that "an overwhelming majority of these deaths occurred between the end of 2012 and November 2015".

The latest death toll includes 159,774 civilians, including more than 25,000 children who were killed as a result of military attacks by Syrian regime forces and their affiliated groups.

Israel Attacks, Destroys Syrian Army Post in Golan

The Israeli Army has attacked and destroyed a Syrian observation post in the Golan Heights. Israel presented this as a sovereignty violation by Syria, accusing them of having the post west of the line dividing Golan between Syrian territory and Israeli occupied and annexed territory.

Almost no nation recognizes Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights, though President Trump said in 2019 that the United States does, making them the only nation offering such recognition.

Despite near-weekly attacks on Syria, this is a rare case for Israel, both in that their officials confirmed the attack and that Israel presented it as an attack on Syria, instead of it somehow being about attacking Iran or some other nation.

This time, Israel was just attacking Syria, and even if they view it as a sovereignty violation, virtually nobody in the world recognizes Israel’s territorial claims in this case.

Turkey Prepares A Syrian Diversion For Its Internal Strife

By South Front,

A Turkish operation in northeastern Syria may be brewing, if recent developments are an indication. On May 28th, the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) announced that it had eliminated the mastermind behind ISIS assassinations in the region, in a joint operation with the “Free Syrian Police.”

As a result of these revelations, Turkey’s leadership is feeling a sense of urgency. There were allegations of high-level phone tapping and more, alongside the illicit weapon and drug trade. As such, the focus needs to be shifted quickly outside of Turkey and what better way than to organize a sort of crisis in the north of Syria?

Iran's Top Military Commander to Assad: Iran Ready to Boost Syria's Defense Capabilities

Tehran earlier congratulated Assad on his victory in the second presidential election since the devastating civil war broke out in Syria in the wake of Arab Spring uprisings. Damascus has succeeded in regaining control over most of the country's territory, but militants still remain in the north of the Arab Republic.

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri has pledged Tehran's readiness to help Syria boost its defense power, provide assistance in the process of reconstruction and tackle other issues resulting from the fight against terrorists, Tasnim News reported.

In a message to Syrian President Bashar Assad on Saturday, Baqeri congratulated him on the recent victory in the presidential election. Assad earlier thanked the Syrian people for re-electing him, while also stressing that the next day would be the start of a new era of building Syria the way it should be.

Syria’s Victory Stuns NATO Enemies

Syria’s presidential elections this week were a resounding success against a backdrop of 10 years of brutal, relentless war imposed on the Arab country by the United States and its NATO partners.

After a decade-long torment from terrorist mercenaries deployed covertly by the Western powers, as well as overt aggression from NATO military forces illegally attacking the country and from cruel economic sanctions warfare, the people of Syria remain defiant and independent.

President Bashar al-Assad was re-elected for a fourth seven-year term after winning 95 percent of votes cast. The achievement is stunning. It completely refutes – indeed makes a mockery of – the Western narrative depicting Assad as a “tyrant”.

Despite all the grueling hardships, the Syrian people turned out in droves to vote on Thursday. The turnout was over 78 percent with more than 14 million votes cast out of an eligible 18 million electorate.

Assad Elected Through 2028 After Predictable Landslide Syria Election, Denounced By West

This week war-torn Syria took to the voting polls and as expected the result was a landslide victory for Syrian President Bashar Assad, ushering in a fourth seven-year term after he came to power in the year 2000 after the death of his father Hafez, who had been the Syrian Arab Republic's first strongman Baath ruler going back to 1971.

The results were announced from Damascus early Thursday (local time), making it official that Assad is to rule Syria through at least 2028 - having received 95% of the vote in an election widely denounced as a sham and 'illegitimate' by Western leaders, as well the anti-Assad jihadist groups in control of Idlib.

Biden Won’t Extend Trump Waiver for US Oil Company in Northeast Syria

According to a report from The Associated Press, the Biden administration has decided it will not renew a Trump-era waiver that allowed a US oil company to do business in northeast Syria, where the US has troops deployed.

In 2019, President Trump reversed his decision to pull out of Syria to “keep the oil.” Last year, the US company Delta Crescent Energy inked a deal with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to exploit the oil resources of northeast Syria.

Delta Crescent Energy was issued a waiver to do business in Syria by the Trump Administration in April 2020. An unnamed US official told AP that the Biden administration will not extend the waiver because the White House wants to distance itself from the idea that the US is in Syria only for the oil.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has released new video and photos showing the current deployment of three Tu-22M3 Backfire-C swing-wing bombers to Khmeimim airbase in Syria, the story of which we were first to report on Monday and followed up on a day later with additional details. Now, as we expected, one of the jets has appeared toting a single example of the enormous Kh-22 series standoff missile. Known in the West as the AS-4 Kitchen, the weapon is now primarily used for anti-shipping strike, in keeping with the maritime mission that Moscow has said the Backfires will undertake while in Syria.

Syrians vote in election set to extend al-Assad’s grip on power

Voters in government-held parts of Syria are heading to the polls to cast ballots in an election that is set to cement a fourth term for Bashar al-Assad – but is dismissed by the opposition and Western powers as a farce.

Wednesday’s presidential vote is the second since the beginning of Syria’s uprising-turned-war a decade ago, a conflict that has killed hundreds of thousands of people and forced millions to leave the country. In 2014, al-Assad won nearly 89 percent of the vote.

Syria Elections: Always Disparaged by the Meddling Imperial West

The election for Syria’s President begins for ex-pats tomorrow and in Syria on the 26th of May.

The US, UK and other western countries will no doubt dismiss the election results because:

1) most surely current President Dr. Bashar al-Assad will win, and

2) because the US has no puppet candidates in the race.

Also, the “great champions of freedom and democracy” – the governments of the US, UK and Germany – are forbidding Syrians in their countries from voting.

The US et al will NOT condemn any elections for leader in their great ally, best weapons buying customer, and the current killers of Yemen – Saudi Arabia – you know why?

US, Kurdish Allies Reportedly Smuggle Another Convoy of Stolen Syrian Oil and Wheat Out of Country

The United States has been in Syria since 2016, justifying its presence in the country by the alleged threat of a resurgent Daesh (ISIS)*, which was routed in 2017. The Syrian government has repeatedly demanded that US troops vacate the country.

‘US occupation forces’ and their Syrian Democratic Forces militia allies have smuggled another 38 trucks and tankers’ worth of wheat and oil out of Syria via the al-Walid border crossing, the Syrian Arab News Agency reports, citing local sources.

The agency’s sources said the supplies were taken from the US and Kurdish-occupied Jazira region of al-Hasakah governorate. SDF militia are alleged to have accompanied the convoy on its way toward the al-Walid crossing, which the Syrian government considers illegal because it's outside Damascus’s control.

Russia Turns Back U.S. Military Convoy in Syria Confrontation

Russia's military stopped and turned back a U.S. convoy in Syria as friction grows between Washington, D.C., and Moscow over each other's roles in de-escalating conflict in the country.

The Russian Defense Ministry's Syria reconciliation center said on Thursday that six American MRAP-type armored vehicles had taken an "uncoordinated route and without prior notice" in the Kurdish-held Syrian province of Hasakah.

Rear admiral Alexander Karpov, the reconciliation center's deputy head, said in the statement that Russia's military police patrol had stopped the U.S. convoy as it traveled west along the M-4 highway and told it to head back in the opposite direction.

Karpov described the incident, also reported by news agencies, as "another case of violation of the deconfliction protocols by the units of the U.S. armed forces illegally located in Syria."

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is leading a delegation on a visit to Syria to discuss bilateral and regional issues as well as the latest developments in the Israeli-occupied territories and the Tel Aviv regime’s recent aggression against the sanctities of Muslims.

Speaking to reporters following his Wednesday morning arrival in Damascus, Zarif pointed to the “escalation of criminal actions by the Zionist regime since the International Quds Day” on Friday and “the rare incidents taking place in the al-Aqsa Mosque and occupied territories and the bombing of Gaza.”

He said he planned to discuss the current situation in the occupied Palestine with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Foreign Minister Faisal al-Mekdad and “other Syrian and Palestinian friends.”

Over the past twenty-four hours the Syrian press is replete with accounts of ongoing American, Turkish and associated attacks on the country both military and economic.

One news story is of a meeting between the ministers of water resources of Syria and Iraq, Tammam Ra’ad and Mehdi Rashid al-Hamdani, respectively, discussing Turkey’s diverting or outright pilfering water from the Euphrates ad Tigris Rivers. For several weeks the Syrian hydroelectric and agricultural sectors have suffered substantial damage from the theft.

In their video conversation the Iraqi minister lamented the effect the Turkish actions has had on the citizens of his country. His Syrian counterpart spoke of measures taken by his nation to work with friendly governments and international organizations to address and redress their concerns.

Israeli helicopter attacks Quneitra in southwestern Syria, one civilian injured

The Israeli military has carried out an airstrike against a residential area in Syria’s southwestern province of Quneitra, in what would be the second such attack in less than a week.

Syria’s official news agency SANA, citing local sources, reported that an Israeli helicopter targeted a house in Ain al-Tinah village, which lies west of Hader town, on Monday afternoon, wounding a civilian.

The report added that the injured Syrian was taken to Quneitra Hospital to receive medical treatment.

Israel Helicopter Hits Syrian Border Town in Rare Daytime Attack

Last week, Israel attacked Syrian territory at least three separate times. The Israeli government declined all comment. They’ll have a harder time maintaining ambiguity Monday, after a broad daylight attack by Israeli military helicopters on a Syrian border town.

The Israeli helicopter crossed into the Syrian Golan Heights and bombed a house in the town of Khader, wounding one person. Opposition figures claimed the wounded man worked for Hezbollah, which likely is just another way of saying he was a Shi’ite.

Israel’s policy is to not comment on attacks reported in foreign press, but this is easier to avoid when it is under the cover of night. With near daily attacks lately, the daytime strike, and close-up photos of an Israeli helicopter, seemingly step up the seriousness even further.

Internal emails reveal that the Dutch government suppressed White Helmets’ financial fraud – what else are they hiding?

The epic establishment clean-up operation launched in the wake of James Le Mesurier’s apparent suicide was effective in the short term, but determined digging by critical journalists means the scandal definitely isn’t over yet.

A Dutch newspaper, De Volkskrant, has published a stunning exclusive based on internal government emails, exposing how officials conspired to prevent a minister publicly raising concerns about fraudulent activity at Mayday Rescue, the now-defunct “humanitarian” organization behind Syria’s highly controversial White Helmets.

The internal communications show that, following the ever-mysterious demise of Helmets and Mayday founder James Le Mesurier in November 2019 in Istanbul, Sigrid Kaag, the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, planned to formally caution parliament about financial impropriety on Le Mesurier’s part. Several draft statements were produced over the ensuing Christmas period, in which Mayday was openly named.

Syrian and Russian state sources are reporting late this week that Russia's Defense Ministry is expressing anger over what it described as noticeably increased American military activity in Syria's northeast region, particularly an uptick in military equipment and troop deployments to the al-Jazeera area.

The Russian Coordination Center in Hmeimim cited the increased air and land transport of American military hardware as part of the continuing violation of Syria's sovereignty intended to block the Syrian population from its own vital resources, including wheat and energy.

White Helmets corruption scandal deepens: Dutch gov’t investigated parent org for fraud, but covered it up

The decade-long dirty war on Syria proved to be a cash cow for some of the most prominent US and UK regime-change operatives. Western government contractors got hundreds of millions of dollars to run schemes to destabilize Damascus –– and some of them took a cut for themselves, profiting off of the pillage.

One of the main players in the cottage industry of contractors that helped run the Western regime-change war on Syria, and which was eventually implicated in a massive corruption scandal, was the Mayday Rescue Foundation.

Mayday served as the fiscal sponsor of Syria Civil Defense, known popularly as the White Helmets, a deceptive humanitarian interventionist operation that became a key propaganda weapon in the dirty war on Damascus.

Israel Attacks Syria for Second Straight Night

Israel went nearly two weeks between attacking Syria, and is now hitting for a second night in a row, with an attack helicopter raid into the Syrian Golan Heights. As with Wednesday night, Israel refused to comment on the attacks.

This makes it tough to determine what happened, as Israeli media tends to exaggerate and Syrian state media tends to downplay what happened. Officially, there are no confirmed casualties of the Thursday attack, and only one civilian killed Wednesday.

The attacks were on opposite sides of the country, with Wednesday’s hit near Latakia in the northwest, and Thursday’s in Quneitra, near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. In neither case was it clear what was being attacked, though Wednesday’s missiles hit a plastic factory.

NATO's Southeastern Spearhead: Turkey's Military Aggression In Iraq, Syria, Yemen, & Caucasus Signals Proxy Conflict With Iran

Authored by Rick Rozoff via Anti-Bellum,

The past week has witnessed reports of increased Turkish military activity in Iraq and Syria as well as its intruding itself deeper into the war in Yemen. In all three cases Ankara has pitted itself against forces that are or can be seen to be pro-Iranian: Shiite parties in northern Iraq, the government of Syria and the Houthi-led government in Yemen.

Direct tensions between Turkey and Iran have been increasing since last year over the above three nations as well as the Turkish-directed attack on Nagorno-Karabakh by Azerbaijan (Turkey and Azerbaijan identify themselves as “one nation, two states’) and its aftermath.

Frustrated Israelis Says Russian Navy Protecting Iranian Tankers to Syria

Amid confused reports of a drone attack on an Iranian ship in the Mediterranean on its way to Syria, Iran appears to have moved its weapons shipments to Syria and Lebanon from the land — where Israel has regularly tracked and destroyed them — to ships that may be receiving protection from Russian vessels in the Mediterranean.

At the same time, defense sources here say Israel has intensified its aerial attacks on targets in Syria once the weapons are delivered by sea. The last such attack was on April 22.

Israeli defense sources here say the Iranian ships sail from the Red Sea, transit the Suez Canal and arrive in the Mediterranean. The defense sources say the ships documents claim they carry only oil, but there are indications that “oil is not the only cargo.” [Israel would of course say that.]

Israel finds itself in a situation where little can be done to stop this new route from Iran to Syria.

Saudi Arabia Poised To Mend Relations With Assad In Major First Since War Began

Multiple international reports on Tuesday revealed that Saudi Arabia's powerful intelligence chief traveled to Damascus Monday to meet with his Syrian counterpart in what's being seen as a major step toward detente. The two broke off relations since near the start of the war in 2011, especially as it became clear the Saudis were a key part of the Western allied push for regime change, through covert support to anti-Assad insurgents and jihadists which included regular weapons shipments.

Gen Khalid Humaidan, the head of Saudi Arabia's General Intelligence Directorate, led a delegation where they were received by Syrian government officials in Damascus. According to The Guardian, Riyadh is currently preparing for a "normalization of relations" - expected to come immediately after the Muslim holiday of Ramadan next week.

Damascus And Moscow Prepare For Spring Cleaning In Central Syria

At the beginning of May, the time of spring cleaning in central Syria may have arrived.

The Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a series of airstrikes on ISIS hideouts in the region, and specifically the Jebel Bishri region located along the administrative border between Raqqa and Deir Ezzor, the Hama-Aleppo-Raqqa triangle and other parts of the region.

These strikes took place in anticipation of a large-scale operation that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) will carry out with Russian support.

Several units from the SAA 5th Corps, 11th Division and the 25th Special Forces Division, known as the Tiger Forces, will take part in the operation. Syrian troops will move from Hama and Raqqa simultaneously.

ISIS has ramped up its activities in the last several weeks. The Amaq News Agency even shared footage of terrorists going about their daily chores in Homs. Likely to show that being a terrorist isn’t so bad and there’s some sort of normality to the entire scenario.

‘Just like pirates’: Syrian minister says US controls most crude reserves in northeast, loots oil to strangle country’s economy

Syria’s petroleum minister has condemned US forces for acting “like pirates” as Washington continues to plunder most of the oil wealth from the country’s resource-rich northeast, where the Pentagon backs Kurdish militia groups.

“Americans and their allies are targeting the Syrian oil wealth and its tankers just like pirates,” Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Bassam Tomeh told state TV this week, adding that the move is designed to cripple Syria’s economy, which depends on oil revenues.

ANOTHER LEAKED AUDIO: John Kerry’s 2016 Meeting with Syrian “Revolutionaries” Pushing for US Bomb Attacks on Syria (AUDIO)

As reported on Monday — In a recently leaked audio, Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said then-Secretary of State John Kerry informed him about Israel’s covert operations in Syria.

John Kerry served as Barack Obama’s Secretary of State from 2013 – 2017 and currently serves as Biden’s special climate envoy.

Zarif said he was shocked by John Kerry’s revelation that Israel had attacked Iranian targets in Syria over 200 times.

The leaked audio was obtained by The New York Times and other outlets and the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh effectively confirmed the leaked tape’s authenticity.

Republicans Pressure John Kerry To Resign After NYT Leaked Iran Audio – What We Know So Far

John Kerry, the special envoy for climate change under President Biden, is facing multiple calls to resign following reports alleging that he provided intelligence to Iran’s foreign minister.

Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif claimed, in a leaked recording obtained by the New York Times, that Kerry informed him about over 200 covert Israeli attacks on Iranian interests in Syria.

“Former Secretary of State John Kerry informed him that Israel had attacked Iranian interests in Syria at least 200 times, to his astonishment, Mr. Zarif said,” according to the Times.

The Democrat, who has a seat on the National Security Council, vehemently denied the allegations and called the story “unequivocally false.”

“This never happened,” he tweeted, “either when I was Secretary of State or since.”

Three Killed in Attack on Iranian Tanker Off Syria’s Coast

On Saturday, an Iranian fuel tanker was attacked off the coast of Syria, the first such attack in years. Three Iranians, including two crew members, were reported slain.

Details are still emerging, but suspicion immediately shot to Israel, who attacks Iranian targets in and around Syria all the time. A previous report had suggested that the Israelis had targeted a few vessels carrying Iranian fuel in the past.

This fuel tanker was close to port, and it is believed to have been attacked by a drone or a missile fired from Lebanese airspace. This again points to an Israeli attack, as Israel tends to use Lebanese airspace with impunity.

Before the war, Syria was self-sufficient on oil and fuel, but production and transport has struggled, and now they are heavily reliant on imports to run the economy. With the US trying to keep Syria from buying anything, and trying to keep Iran from selling anything, it’s only natural this would be a key trading partner for them.

DRONE STRIKE TARGETS IRANIAN TANKER ANCHORED OFF SYRIA’S MAIN OIL TERMINAL (PHOTOS)

On April 24 afternoon, an unidentified drone targeted a tanker anchored off Syria’s main oil terminal in the town of Banias.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Oil and Natural Resources said that the hostile drone came from the direction of Lebanon’s waters. The ministry also said that a fire caused by the strike was put down by the tanker’s crew.

“Firefighters controlled by the fire which erupted in one of the oil tanker’s sections off the oil terminal in Banias,” the statement reads.

The France-Press Agency, AFP, reported that the targeted tanker is Iranian, without providing any additional information on the incident.

Oil Tanker In Flames Off Syrian Coast After Suspected Drone Attack

The Times of Israel reports a fire broke out on an oil tanker moored off the port of Banyas, located in northwestern Syria.

The source of the fire is unknown at the moment, but Syria's oil ministry reports "an apparent drone attack coming from Lebanese territory" is responsible for the incident.

The ministry didn't provide any information about the ship's name, but the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the vessel was Iranian.

Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) allegedly shows the vessel with a plume of black smoke rising in front of the bridge.

Anonymous NatSec Officials: The Cuban Ray Guns Are in Syria Now, Just Trust Us on This

Here we go again with the anonymously sourced claims Russia is trying to fry the innards of U.S. government personnel abroad, using energy guns secretly manufactured using updated Soviet blueprints.

According to Politico, anonymous officials said the Pentagon has briefed members of Congress on “intelligence surrounding suspected directed-energy attacks against U.S. troops,” with the outlet citing at least four national security officials “directly involved in the probe.” In one of the incidents, several troops in Syria (where hundreds of U.S. soldiers are stationed in another forever war) “developed flu-like symptoms.” Politico also wrote that said officials attribute these directed-energy beams to being sourced from nefarious Russian operatives. “Two former national security officials involved” in the inquiry, quite possibly ones that departed office along with Donald Trump, claimed the incidents drew extreme concern across the Department of Defense:

Latest Skirmish with Syria Shows Israel Is Much Weaker Than It Looks

For years Israel’s Arab neighbors have grown accustomed to routine unprovoked attacks on their infrastructure, soldiers and civilians by the Jewish state.

While Syria’s air defense has been increasing its success rate in quashing Israeli raids, the latest exchange between the two countries has opened up the possibility to strike back.

Yesterday, a missile bypassed Israel’s Patriot, Iron Dome and David’s Sling missile defense systems and landed close to the delicate Dimona nuclear reactor in its Southern desert, triggering panic in the city when its alarm went off. The Dimona nuclear facility is highly secretive as it is used to produce the Israel’s illegal nuclear weapons.

SYRIA TO PAY FOR “PLANNED EXPLOSION” IN ISRAELI WEAPON FACTORY

On April 20 a large explosion took place in central Israel, at the facility of Tomer, a government-owned defense contractor.

As per the contractor, there were neither damages nor casualties, and the massive mushroom cloud that was seen was a “controlled test.”

The company, Tomer, produces a variety of propulsion systems for various missiles used by Israel.

Videos of the blast were widely shared on social media, prompting speculation that it was the result of a malfunction or sabotage, especially in light of ongoing tension between Israel and Iran. And Tehran’s state media had reports focused on the facility, which led to speculation that it was some form retaliatory attack after the blast in the Natanz facility.

The contractor still maintained that it was all planned, but there were none of the customary warnings in advance of the explosion and no confirmation by either the Ministry of Defense or the company after the fact.

Canada Reveals It Paid White Helmets $4 Million Annually After It Cuts Ties

In another stunning revelation concerning the self-styled "independent" Syrian rescue and aid organization the White Helmets, Canada this week revealed that it has ended all funding for the controversial group yet without detailing why.

A bombshell new report in The Globe and Mail says only that the government of Canada, dubbed "one of the staunchest backers of the White Helmets", ended support "shortly after the death of the group’s British co-founder, James Le Mesurier, who committed suicide in November, 2019."

Le Mesurier had been mired in scandal and was subject of an in investigation over possible mishandling of donations which poured in from various Western governments and humanitarian groups. His suicide took place in murky circumstances: he was found dead reportedly from a fall on the street below the upstairs window of his apartment in Istanbul's Beyoglu district on November 11, 2019.

Alarms go off near Israel’s nuclear reactor amid reports of explosions & missile defense system being activated

Sirens have pierced the air in Israel’s southern Negev province near the secretive Dimona nuclear facility, with reports of multiple blasts heard far away from the site and anti-missile systems responding.

The sirens were heard in Abu Qrenat – a village some 13 miles (21km) northwest of The Shimon Peres Negev Nuclear Research Center in the Negev desert – following reports of explosions from the vicinity of the nuclear facility on Thursday morning, according to the Jerusalem Post. A military spokesperson said the incident resulted in no casualties.

Unconfirmed footage has circulated on social media, in which a siren can be heard blaring in the distance. The location the video was captured is unclear. Another clip purporting to show the moment a missile was intercepted by Israel’s defense systems has also made the rounds.

'Syria missile' lands near Israeli military nuclear facility Dimona

The Israeli military says a Syrian missile fired towards an Israeli warplane has overflown its target, landing near the occupying regime’s top-secret military nuclear facility Dimona.

An Israeli military spokesman cited by Reuters said the projectile had come down in the early hours of Thursday in the Dimona area in the Negev desert inside the occupying territories, where the regime operates the hugely controversial installation.

The spokesman identified the missile as “an SA-5” -- a long-range projectile handled by Syria’s Russian S-200 missile systems.

The missile, however, “did not hit the reactor, landing some 30 kilometers (19 miles) away,” the agency cited the spokesman as saying.

According to the Israeli military, missile sirens went off in the area, and a Reuters correspondent, who was about 90 kilometers (56 miles) north of Dimona, reported hearing the sound of an explosion minutes before the military tweeted that the alarms had gone off.

Russian Jets Pound Anti-Assad Militant Base In Syria, Killing Up To 200

Militants created a camouflaged base northeast of Syria’s Palmyra, where groups were formed for terrorist attacks and explosive devices were made. Russian Aerospace Forces planes have hit these targets, Rear Adm. Alexander Karpov, deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria, said on Monday.

"As a result... two shelters, up to 200 militants, 24 pickup trucks with heavy machine guns, as well as about 500 kilograms of ammunition and components for making improvised explosive devices were destroyed," Karpov said.

RUSSIAN NAVY TO GUARD IRANIAN OIL SUPPLIES TO SYRIA UNDER STRATEGIC AGREEMENT – REPORT

Russia, Iran and Syria have established a joint operation room that would work to guarantee the security and stability of oil and wheat supplies to Syrian ports through the Mediterranean Sea, Sputnik reported on April 17.

According to the agency, a series of intensive meetings between Russian, Iranian and Syrian officials was held recently with the aim of breaking the siege imposed by the US and European Union on Syria.

“The room’s work is to provide multi-sided coordination to secure the arrival of oil supplies, in the first place, to Syrian ports,” Sputnik quoted sources familiar with the matter as saying.

Syria has been facing an unprecedented economic crisis as a result the sanctions imposed by the US and the EU. The country’s natural resources in the northeastern region are also under control of US proxies. Furthermore, ships heading to Syrian ports face sanctions as well as the threat of direct attacks on some occasions.

EU Parliament session gets chaotic as MEP accused of 'fake news' for daring to question OPCW on whistleblower scandal (VIDEO)

Despite whistleblower leaks casting doubts on the OPCW’s findings, the EU Parliament is determined to enforce the organization’s anti-Assad line on Syria. MEP Mick Wallace was accused of spreading “fake news” when he spoke out.

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has taken an intense interest in Syria’s civil war, and has accused President Bashar Assad of deploying chemical weapons against his own people on several occasions. Its conclusions have twice been used to justify US military action against Syria, and a new OPCW report on Monday found “reasonable grounds” to suspect that a Syrian Army helicopter dropped chemical weapons on the town of Saraqib in 2018.

The OPCW’s reports are good news for Western interventionists, but the organization is not without its critics.

Politicians Concerned about Violence Should Start by Ending Their Wars and Their Police State

It looks like the next EOs Biden aims at mandating are related to the topic of gun control: “Gun violence in this country is an epidemic. Let me say it again. Gun violence in this country is an epidemic.” This is ironic coming from the former vice president of the Obama administration, which started regime change wars in countries like Yemen, Libya, and Syria which in large part included supplying certain “moderate” rebel groups like al-Nusra and ISIS with weapons, cash, and intelligence support that was ultimately used to slaughter innocent men, women, and children.

Caitlin Johnstone: Meditations on US forces firing a howitzer into the empty desert ‘just to say we’re here’

I saw a line in a recent New Yorker article about America’s endless wars, and it’s been rattling around in my head ever since.

“In Syria, McKenzie visited the Green Village, a community of decrepit apartment blocks near a bombed-out oil facility that served as the operational headquarters for the final push to erase the caliphate, in 2019. These days, the only military action there is from US forces firing a 155-millimetre howitzer twice a week into the surrounding desert, at no specific target, ‘just to say we’re here,’ one officer told me.”

Syria Demands US Compensate It for Seven Years of War and Plundering

The Syrian Arab News Agency reported the nation’s foreign ministry issuing a statement that brands Washington responsible for what the government calls a terrorist war against Syria and its people.

It condemns both military and economic aggression against the country and attributes both to the designs of the U.S. and its allies to establish permanent military presence, and supremacy, in the region, with the U.S. and Israel also looting the country’s resources. Turkey could be added to the list. The allies referred to also include Washington’s fellow NATO members Britain and France, which have participated in the war against Syrian and its people as well.

Specifically the indictment states this:

US Forces Transported Over 40 Tankers of Syrian Oil Into Iraq, State Media Report

The US forces have transported 41 tankers of oil stolen from the Hasaka province in northern Syria into Iraq, the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported, citing local sources.

The convoy also included several covered trucks. The agency reported that the oil was smuggled into the Iraqi territory via the "illegal" al-Waleed border crossing, which is also referred to as at-Tanf.

This is not the first time that such news has been reported by SANA, with a similar story being published last December reporting that US forces looted oil from the Hasaka countryside and transported it over the border to US bases in Iraq.

Lebanon says Israel’s use of its airspace to attack Syria clear breach of international law

Lebanon has condemned “in the strongest terms” Israel’s use of its airspace to carry out a missile attack near the Syrian capital, Damascus.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry expressed its "condemnation, in the strongest terms, of the air attack carried out by the Israeli enemy,” Lebanese National News Agency reported.

"While denouncing any attack on the sovereignty of brotherly Syria, and refusing to use the Lebanese airspace to target it, the Ministry expresses its full solidarity with Syria in the face of the repeated attacks carried out by the Israeli enemy."

The ministry called for international action to end the repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanon’s sovereignty which “constitutes a clear violation of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and resolutions of international legitimacy."

ISIS Seizes Syria Police Station, Captures Dozens of Hostages

ISIS fighters stormed the desert town of al-Saan, in Hama Province, seizing the police station and capturing dozens of people, including both civilians and police. Eight soldiers are also being held.

ISIS has been trying to raid areas near the desert that they operate within. Al-Saan was a former stronghold of theirs. The civilians they captured are accused of being informers for the Assad government.

Syrian state media reported that the civilians were out picking truffles at the time of the raid, and ISIS made their way to the police station, capturing 13 police, the alleged informers, and the eight soldiers.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights head noted that abducted soldiers are usually killed, and that ISIS has also killed civilians they believe are in league with the government.

Israel Bombing the Outskirts of Damascus from Over Lebanon, Again

Israel carried out a new aggression against the Syrian capital Damascus shortly after midnight, the bombing targeted a Syrian Army post in the outskirt of Damascus.

A Syrian military spokesperson stated: ‘At about 12:56 a.m. local time today, April 8, the Israeli enemy carried out an air assault with bursts of rockets from the direction of Lebanese territory targeting some points in the vicinity of the city of Damascus, and our air defense media intercepted the aggression’s missiles and dropped most of them.’

Four Syrian army soldiers were injured in the bombing which also left some material damage, the military spokesperson added.

Syrian air defenses have shot down a number of illicit missiles, and Al Manar has just announced that one of Syria’s air defense missiles chased an enemy warplane to the border, at which point a very loud explosion was heard throughout southern Lebanon.

Israeli Warplanes Attack Syrian Capital, Wounding Four Soldiers

Syrian state media is reporting that Israeli warplanes operating in Lebanon attacked the capital city of Damascus overnight, with at least four Syrian soldiers reported wounded.

Syrian air defenses were quick to activate during the attack, and Syria reported that they were able to shoot down most of the missiles before anything was hit. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the attacks were aimed at a military post.

Lebanon’s al-Manar TV reported that air defense missiles were heard exploding near the border. The Syrian government has a large array of Russia-provided defenses meant to limit the ability of Israel to attack.

Despite all of that air defense capability, however, Israel continues to regularly attack targets in Syria, nominally on the pretext of targeting Iranian assets. There was no sign that this attack hit or even targeted anything Iran-related, but as usual Israel is not officially talking about it.

Biden Regime Forces Loot More Wheat from Syrian Silos

Biden regime forces continue to loot Syria of its essential grains, necessary to keep Syria’s people from the starvation over which the various factions of western savior types continue to wail rivers of crocodile tears, especially when there is a 501(c) charity involvement. The Biden American occupation forces just did another round trip from Iraq into the in al Yaarubiya area of al Hasaka — which is in Syria, which is not in the United States — with a 12-truck convoy that continued the looting of of precious Syrian grain, from the silos of Tal Alo.

Starvation via military invasion and looting is a war crime.

Though the Biden forces dismantled their illicit military base at the silos, in February, the criminal American troops have returned several times, to empty the grain, so many times that it might be convenient to create a template and just fill in the dates. Between mid- and late March, the American war criminals pillaged 112 truckloads of Syria’s wheat from this facility.

Why US Troops Will Never Be Pulled Out Of Syria

A friend recently asked: "Surely, the American Army is not staying in Syria forever and sooner or later they will leave, no?" To his surprise, my answer was: "No, I don’t think they would leave. Why would they? It costs very little and they incur hardly any casualties."

Moreover of all past military interventions in the region, the US presence in Syria is unique in a number of ways. It is relatively small in scope, yet it does achieve a seemingly broad set of objectives both geopolitically and even domestically.

Remember that the initial [ostensible] objective for entering Syria was to fight ISIS. Following the group's attack on Mosul in June 2014, it only took only 8 weeks for the US to to begin air strikes against them in Iraq. A month later, these strikes were expanded into Syria.

“American Style”: US-backed Fighters Seize US-made Missiles Heading to Other US-backed Fighters in Syria

In an unusual turn of events in Syria, militants once backed by the US have seized a shipment of US-made missiles that was heading to fighters currently backed by the US.

The missiles, US-made TOWs, were seized on March 28 by the Syrian Task Force, a joint force of the Turkish Police, Counterterrorism Unit and the National Syrian Army (SNA), near the Turkish-occupied town of Azaz in the northern Aleppo countryside.

According to the Turkish Ministry of Interior, the smugglers confessed that that they had been trying to transfer weapons to the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the town of Manbij in the northeastern countryside of Aleppo.

Beside two TOW anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs), the weapons shipment included 24 AK-type assault rifles, a designated marksman rifle, two gun tubes and ammunition.

New Report Reaffirms US Recognition of Golan Heights as Israeli Territory

On Tuesday, the State Department released its annual report on global human rights practices, known as the Country Reports on Human Rights Practices. In the first such report of the Biden administration, the US reaffirmed the recognition of Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights and the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

The Israel section of the report reads: “The United States recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in 2017 and Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights in 2019.”

It’s been obvious that President Biden has no intention of reversing the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. But when it comes to the Golan Heights, which was captured from Syria in 1967, the Biden administration has not been clear how it views the territory.

When asked about the Golan Heights in February, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, “Leaving aside the legalities of that question, as a practical matter, the Golan is very important to Israel’s security.”

Biden and His Aides Pushed America Into Syria’s Civil War a Decade Ago

The United States tore itself apart with extraordinary violence 160 years ago. Around 750,000 Americans died in the Civil War, which would be about eight million dead today. It is an experience no American should want to go through again.

Yet U.S. policymakers seem drawn to foreign conflicts like moths to light. Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and Bill Clinton unaccountably made brutal battles in Lebanon, Somalia, and the Balkans Washington’s own. George W. Bush turned Iraq into a civil war and joined Afghanistan’s long-running conflict. Barack Obama escalated in Afghanistan, returned to Iraq after leaving, and racked up involvement in three additional bitter conflicts: Libya, Syria, and Yemen. Donald Trump kept the US fighting in all of them, though he launched a last-minute bid to withdraw from the longest one, Afghanistan.

PROPAGANDA BY OMISSION: LIBYA, SYRIA, VENEZUELA AND THE UK

We live in a war-like society; one that supports, and is in league with, the world’s number one terrorist threat: the United States of America. Corporate media propaganda plays a key role in keeping things that way.

Ten years ago this month, the US, UK and France attacked oil-rich Libya under the fictitious cover of ‘humanitarian intervention’. The bombing was ‘justified’ by Barack Obama, David Cameron and Nicolas Sarkozy by the supposed imminent massacre of civilians in Benghazi by forces under Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. As we have documented previously, the propaganda claims were fraudulent.

The work of checkpoints Seraqab and Miznaz in Idlib, as well as Abu Zeidin in Aleppo, will be suspended from Tuesday amid escalation until the situation stabilizes, Rear Adm. Alexander Karpov, deputy head of the Russian Centre for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria, said on Monday

House Panel Advances Bill to Repeal 2002 Iraq AUMF

On Thursday, the House Foreign Affairs Committee advanced a bill that would repeal the 2002 authorization for the use of military force (AUMF) that was used for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The bill will now advance to the House floor.

The panel approved the legislation that was led by Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) in a vote of 28 to 19 that fell along party lines. Two Republicans joined the Democrats in supporting the bill, Reps. Ken Buck (R-CO) and Peter Meijer (R-MI).

US to demand 'unhindered' aid deliveries to Syria at UN Security Council

The US plans to address border issues that have hindered the transfer of food, medicine and other aid into Syria at the next Security Council meeting, the State Department has announced.

State Department spokesperson Ned Price, in a statement on Friday, said Secretary of State Antony Blinken would push Russia and other UN Security Council members to allow more aid to enter Syria from Turkey.

Aid had been entering the war-torn country via Turkey through four border crossings that were approved by the 15-member council in 2014. Last July, however, the authorisations keeping the crossings open expired. Following several Russian and Chinese vetoes, all but the Bab al-Hawa crossing were closed indefinitely.

The US Continues To Smuggle Oil While Turkey Complains To Russia It Can't

The intensity of the conflict in Syria’s northeast refuses to die down, as more and more strikes are carried out targeting each involved party’s interests. For its part, MSM reports on all of these, but many of them are presented in a light, much different from reality.

On March 23rd, a video emerged showing the Damascus government forces conduct a strike on Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

The shelling targeted the terrorist fortifications and depots. MSM, in conjunction with various Western-backed organizations such as the “International Rescue Committee”, shifted the story and claimed that a civilian hospital had been struck.

As such, the narrative is this – the “Bloody Assad Regime” is back at it, targeting civilians and killing its own people. As might be expected this media campaign is part of the attempts by the US to rebrand HTS as a “former terrorist” and now reformed organization, in order to have another ally, in a different part of Syria.

In Syria, The War Of Hunger Is Taking Over From The War Of Guns

Great dollops of hypocrisy invariably accompany expressions of concern by outside powers for the wellbeing of the Syrian people. But even by these low standards, a new record for self-serving dishonesty is being set by the Caesar Civilian Protection Act, the new US law imposing the harshest sanctions in the world on Syria and bringing millions of Syrians to the brink of famine.

Supposedly aimed at safeguarding ordinary Syrians from violent repression by President Bashar al-Assad, the law is given a humanitarian garnish by naming it after the Syrian military photographer who filmed and smuggled out of the country pictures of thousands of Syrians killed by the government. But instead of protecting Syrians, as it claims, the Caesar Act is a measure of collective punishment that is impoverishing people in government and opposition-held areas alike.

US controls 90% of Syria oil

Syrian Oil Minister Bassam Toma'a has revealed that around 90 per cent of Syrian oil is under the control of US forces, Aram News Network reported on Friday.

"The Americans and their followers are acting like pirates as they are targeting the Syrian oil wealth and oil supplies," the Syrian regime minister asserted.

The minister added: "There is a promising future for the oil industry in the [Syrian] waters. We need tranquillity and stable logistic circumstances."

He stated that the total direct and indirect losses of the Syrian oil sector had exceeded $92 billion, noting that what happened in Syria has never previously occurred regarding the exploitation of wealth and supplies.

It is worth noting that the oil ministry of the Bashar Al-Assad regime has signed contracts with the Russian oil firm Capital to explore oil off Tartus governorate's coasts with an area of 2,250 km2.

Now, a new book collects in-depth analyses of what these cables tell us about the foreign policy of the United States, from authors including Truthout staff reporter Dahr Jamail and our regular contributors Gareth Porter, Robert Naiman, Phyllis Bennis and Stephen Zunes. “The essays that make up The WikiLeaks Files shed critical light on a once secret history,” says Edward Snowden.

The following is Chapter 10 of The WikiLeaks Files:

Turkish warplane bombs positions held by US-backed SDF militants in Syria’s Raqqah: SOHR

A so-called war monitor says a Turkish fighter jet has carried out airstrikes against an area held by US-sponsored SDF militants in Syria’s northern province of Raqqah.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said the military aircraft had struck SDF positions in Saida village of the Ayn Issa district, which caused loud explosions.

The airstrike, it said, was the first of its kind in the past 17 months, when the Turkish army and allied militants launched a military operation across the border in northeast Syria.

Permanent Warfare and the “War On Terror”

The “War on Terror” is a fraud. Washington supports the very same terrorists that it claims to be fighting. Washington’s wars are anti-humanitarian and anti-democratic, and they are all based on criminal war lies and public deceptions. This needs to end.

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard described the war on Syria in these words:

“There are two things you need to address in Syria. One is a regime change war that was first launched by the United States in 2011, covertly led by the CIA. That is a regime change war that has continued over the years, that has increased the suffering of the Syrian people and strengthened terrorist groups like al Qaeda and ISIS because the CIA was using American taxpayer dollars to provide arms and training equipment to these terrorist groups to get them to overthrow the government.

So that is a regime change war that we should not have been waging.” (1)

US won't recognize Syria presidency vote unless UN involved

The United States warned Syrian President Bashar Assad on Thursday that the Biden administration will not recognize the result of its upcoming presidential election unless the voting is free, fair, supervised by the United Nation and represents all of Syrian society.

The acting U.S. deputy ambassador to the United Nations, Jeffrey DeLaurentis, said that “it’s clear that the regime will leverage the upcoming presidential elections in May to unfairly claim Assad’s legitimacy.”

International reports: Hundreds of thousands of terrorists were sent to Syria by the West

Western countries, led by the US and its regional allies, were have not stooped at supporting, financing, and arming terrorism that targeted Syria, but they also removed and sent hundreds of thousands of terrorists to the country to join terrorist organizations in here and participate in killing Syrians and destroying their capabilities.

German Firil Center published a study in 2015 that revealed the volume of the role that Western and regional countries have played in targeting Syria by sending hundreds of thousands of terrorists to it, saying that the number of the terrorists since April 2011 until the end of 2015 reached to 360 thousand terrorists.

According to the confessions of Western officials themselves, the regime of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has turned Turkey into a haven for the gathering of those terrorists and a corridor for their removal to Syria.

US, Allies Oppose Syria Elections, Blame Assad for 10 Years of War

Top diplomats of the United States, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom in a joint statement challenged the legitimacy of this year's proposed presidential election in Syria and said that it should not lead to any international normalisation with the country's authorities.

The statement from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio and UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab marks the 10th anniversary of the world’s bloodiest ongoing conflict.

"The proposed Syrian Presidential election this year will neither be free nor fair, nor should it lead to any measure of international normalisation with the Syrian regime," the top diplomats said on Monday.

Syria’s air defenses were activated in response to an alleged ‘Israeli airstrike’ in the Damascus countryside in the south of the country, state media reported, claiming that several ‘hostile projectiles’ were shot down.

The attacks came around 10:30pm local time on Tuesday near the capital, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency, citing a military source, who said the strikes came “from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan.”

Video footage purporting to show air defense systems intercepting some of the missiles has circulated online, some obtained by SANA.

Israeli Airstrikes Hit Near Damascus Airport, Syria Says Others Intercepted

Syrian state media confirmed an Israeli attack near the Damascus airport on Tuesday, saying they’d intercepted “most of them.” They said there were no casualties, but there was damage to material.

As with many previous attacks, the strikes appear to have targeted warehouses near the airport used to store ammunition. Israel has in the past accused these warehouses of being used by Iranian militias.

Not that Israel made such accusations this time, or anything else for that matter. In keeping with policy of not commenting on attacks first reported in foreign media, Israel is not commenting at all on what happened.

Russia Alarmed by Transfer of Turkish Army's Equipment in Syria's Raqqa, Military Says

Russia is alarmed by the transfer of equipment of the Turkish Armed Forces and the ongoing fortification works in the Syrian province of Raqqa, Rear Adm. Alexander Karpov, the deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria, said at a briefing.

"The Russian side is extremely alarmed by the transfer of military equipment of the Turkish Armed Forces and the construction of fortifications at strong points in the area of ??the settlement of Ayn Issa, Raqqa province. These actions violate the status quo established by the memorandum of understanding and undermine the efforts of both sides in resolving the Syrian conflict," Karpov said.

Over the past 24 hours no shelling by Turkey-controlled illegal armed formations was registered, he added.
