The bleak warning came on Tuesday as deaths from the virus surpassed 174,000 worldwide, with governments anxiously trying to chart a path out of the unprecedented global health and economic emergency.

The economic impact of the pandemic could lead to a 'humanitarian catastrophe,' with the number of people suffering from acute hunger projected to nearly double to 265 million this year, the UN's World Food Programme warned.

Pedophilia a Requirement for UK Ruling Elite

Case by case by case, the evidence builds that not only have psychopaths [see “Psychopathic Takeover“] populated the UK’s power structure but that often enough, being a pedophile has been an additional requirement. The entire ruling hierarchy is rife with this crowd and it is a long-standing British “tradition.” I believe pedophiles are put into high places not just because of their psychopathy, but because they can be compromised and controlled by the cabal. There is an element of this in the U.S. power structure as well.

ECB To Discuss Accepting Junk Bonds As Collateral

Now that the Fed has opened the pandora's box of moral hazard by purchasing select junk bonds, every other central bank would like a piece of the action. And sure enough, as Bloomberg reports, on Wednesday evening the ECB will hold a call where they may discuss whether to accept junk-rated debt as collateral from lenders.

Translation: the ECB is about to announce it will accept junk bonds as eligible collateral, and why not: the Fed is doing so, so it makes sense for everyone else to pile on.

According to Bloomberg, in a step similar to the Fed's backstopping of fallen angel high yield paper, the ECB's conference could be "intended to head off concerns that some sovereign and corporate bonds will soon be downgraded to non-investment grade because of the cost of fighting the coronavirus pandemic."

Barr Says DoJ Might Join Lawsuits Against States That Don't Reopen Fast Enough

During an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Attorney General William Barr, who has heretofore enjoyed a reputation as one of the cagiest members of the cabinet, has just made a massive political blunder. Whether he did it at the best of his boss remains unclear.

President Trump's tweets about "liberating" Democratic-led states has enraged certain conservatives who recognize that Trump has just accepted blame for the handling of the coronavirus response. Delegating to the states was a brilliant move because it meant that no matter what, Trump would be praised for doing the 'smart' thing and handing the reins to the states, something that, in theory, also goes against the president's "authoritarian" nature, which would earn him extra political cred.

Most Americans Are Not Going To Be Able To Handle What Lies Ahead

Based on how Americans are handling the COVID-19 lockdowns, it is hard to be optimistic about what will happen when a really severe crisis hits us.

Yes, this pandemic is definitely a great tragedy. There are more than 700,000 confirmed cases in the U.S. and more than 40,000 Americans have died. But it isn’t the end of the world. I am sorry to tell you this, but COVID-19 is not the worst thing that we are going to face. In fact, it is not even close to the worst thing that we are going to face. So it is a bit disheartening to see so many Americans responding to this pandemic so poorly.

Study: COVID-19 Mutates More Than Previously Believed, 30-Plus Strains Exist

A new study carried out by researchers at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, finds that COVID-19 has mutated into at least 30 different variations, and that the ability of the novel coronavirus to mutate has been underestimated.

The study, which was led by Professor Li Lanjuan and published on the website medRxiv.org on Sunday, analyzed the strains of the coronavirus that had infected 11 patients from Hangzhou, where there are at least 1,264 reported cases of the illness.

Researchers found that there were many more mutations within the small sample pool than had previously been reported. Within the sample, officials detected more than 30 mutations, around 60% of which were new.

Abu Ghraib: The mark of shame US can’t lose after 17 years

April 22 will mark the 17th anniversary of the United States’ capture of the Abu Ghraib prison west of the Iraqi capital that went on to bear witness to unchecked murderous and sadistic torture by American forces under Washington’s tutelage.

A torture chamber under ex-Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, the facility retained its function throughout the American control from 2003 to 2006, when it held many thousands of people, including as many as 3,800 detainees at the height of the scandal.

However, only a year after its capture, primetime international broadcasts and wide-circulation reportages began to reveal that its new tenants were outdoing the former Iraqi dictator’s atrocities there by far.

The revisited bestiality this time ran the gamut of inhumanity, from torture —featuring physical and sexual abuse as well as rape and sodomy — all the way up to murder.

Op-Ed: Gate’s Contraceptive Microchip To Be Implanted Into Women

Bill Gates to me is highly inconsistent. He is a huge supporter of Climate Change and has done his TED Talks on lowering CO2 to Zero. Of course, the Climate Change contingent is all about reducing the population which is now about 7.5 billion and Gates laments it will hit 9 billion. So for someone who is so concerned about Global Warming, he has three kids but has funded a microchip to implant into women as a contraceptive. That’s right, a computer chip that can be controlled remotely to prevent getting pregnant.

The contraceptive chip is to be implanted under a woman’s skin, releasing a small dose of levonorgestrel, a hormone. This will happen every day for 16-years and can be controlled using a wireless remote device. The project has been backed by none other than Bill Gates. The question I have is hacking. If it can be controlled remotely, then it should be also possible for it to be hacked like any computer to ensure someone never gets pregnant.

Harvard Law Professor Urges ‘Presumptive Ban’ on Homeschooling: ‘Unregulated Regime’

Harvard Magazine has published an interview with one of the school’s public interest law professors, who recently released a paper in which she calls for a “presumptive ban” on homeschooling.

Elizabeth Bartholet, a Wasserstein public interest law professor at Harvard Law School, said both children and society are at risk due to the lack of regulation of homeschooling, because such freedom from government oversight allows child abusers to hide their abuse and prevents children from making positive contributions to society.

Harvard Magazine’s Erin O’Donnell noted the law professor’s paper, published in the Arizona Law Review and titled “Homeschooling: Parent Rights Absolutism vs. Child Rights to Education & Protection.”

In her paper, Bartholet bemoans the freedom associated with homeschooling, and the fact that “parents can now keep their children at home in the name of homeschooling free from any real scrutiny as to whether or how they are educating their children.”

FLASHBACK - A Crashed Israeli Lunar Lander Spilled Tardigrades on the Moon

Half a world away, Nova Spivack watched a livestream of Beresheet’s mission control from a conference room in Los Angeles. As the founder of the Arch Mission Foundation, a nonprofit whose goal is to create “a backup of planet Earth,” Spivack had a lot at stake in the Beresheet mission. The spacecraft was carrying the foundation’s first lunar library, a DVD-sized archive containing 30 million pages of information, human DNA samples, and thousands of tardigrades, those microscopic “water bears” that can survive pretty much any environment—including space.

But when the Israelis confirmed Beresheet had been destroyed, Spivack was faced with a distressing question: Did he just smear the toughest animal in the known universe across the surface of the moon?

Pentagon Pressures Mexico To Reopen Factories Vital To Making US Weapons

It apparently took a global pandemic and corresponding economic shutdown of entire nations' economies for the American public to realize that surprisingly, the US military relies heavily for supplies involved in weapons systems manufacturing just south of the border.

The Pentagon's defense undersecretary for acquisition and sustainment, Ellen Lord, urged at the start of this week that Mexico reopen those factories which many US defense firms rely on, especially aircraft manufacturers, previously shuttered due to COVID-19.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This, if nothing else, is a cautionary tale to US executives, responsible for delivering weapons systems to the US military, of what some of the real dangers of outsourcing these items can be.
