German court starts retrial of 3 pro-Palestine activists for criticizing Israeli crimes

A court in Germany has started the retrial of three pro-Palestine human rights activists, known as Humboldt 3, who had spoken out against Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.

The trio – Palestinian activist Majed Abusalama and Israeli activists Ronnie Barkan and Stavit Sinai – are facing trial for their involvement in a June 2017 protest at Humboldt University, in the German capital Berlin, against Israeli Knesset Member (MK) for the Yesh Atid party, Aliza Lavie.

The three activists, known as Humboldt 3, were charged after they interrupted Lavie’s talk in 2017 about the massacre of civilians in Gaza during a speech at the Humboldt University of Berlin.

Israel strikes Syrian military targets near Damascus, IDF calls it ‘response’ to failed border attack

Israeli jets bombed several Syrian military sites south of Damascus late on Monday, the IDF has confirmed, saying that the attack had been launched in response to the attempted planting of a bomb in the Golan Heights.
The airstrike took place in the countryside southwest of Damascus, SANA news agency reported, describing explosions being heard in the city.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) then said in a statement the attack was a response to an attempted provocation on the Syrian-Israeli border, targeting a fence in the occupied Golan Heights.

The IDF said the strike targeted Syrian army’s observation posts, intelligence-gathering equipment, anti-aircraft cannons and command-and-control infrastructure.

New Election Looming? Tweeps Divided Over Attitude Towards Netanyahu Amid Anti-Government Protests

A wave of anti-government protests sweeping Israel has also left a mark on social media platforms, where users have been debating their attitude towards the prime minister. While some have been calling for Netanyahu's resignation, others say they'd stand by him and urging to hold another round of elections.

Thousands of people took to the streets, intersections, and bridges across Israel on Saturday protesting against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling on him to resign.

Many of them also gathered in front of his official residence in Jerusalem urging "the culprit from Balfour" to relinquish power. Twelve people were arrested during the protests.

Coalition Chair Zohar Talks Relations Between Israel’s Likud and Blue and White Parties

Israel’s new unity government was sworn in on 17 May 2020, following a deal made by political rivals Benjamin Netanyahu, leader of the Likud party, and Benny Gantz, leader of the Blue and White Party. Under a power sharing agreement, Netanyahu will remain as Prime Minister for 18 months, before Gantz takes over in October 2021.

Israel’s coalition chairman, MK Miki Zohar, said that the country’s government is unable to function and is about to fall apart, due to the main coalition parties’ disagreements on a number of issues.

In an interview with local radio station Kan, Zohar said that "The feeling right now is that it doesn't matter what we do, it's about to be over between us [Likud] and Blue and White.”

“There is a gaping abyss between us and Blue and White on many topics on an ideological level and we cannot really function as a functioning coalition. This is like a couple who wants a divorce and are about to sign on it any minute,” he suggested.

Israel Thwarts 'Terrorist' Attempt to Place Explosives on Syria-Israeli Border, IDF Says

The Israeli Defence Forces noted that it "considers [the] Syrian regime responsible for any action taken in its territory", adding that "it will not allow" any violation of the sovereignty of the state of Israel.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) announced it had thwarted an attempt by "four terrorists" to place explosives on the border between Israel and Syria, noting that troops successfully attacked the "terrorists" without any casualties to the IDF.

"Recently, an IDF force thwarted an attempt to place explosives on the Syrian border. A special force that ambushed the southern Golan Heights, near a military post, identified a squad of several terrorists placing explosives near the border fence. Simultaneous firing on the squad that numbered four terrorists hit them. No casualties to our forces", the IDF said in a statement.

Hamas warns Israel of consequences over al-Aqsa Mosque attacks

The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, has warned Israel of the consequences of its further encroachment on the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem al-Quds.

Hamas made the remarks in an official statement on Thursday that marks Arafah Day, a major occasion on the Islamic calendar. It called on Palestinians to rally in mass towards the al-Aqsa Mosque.

The statement stressed that al-Aqsa is holy for the Palestinian people, and that they will not remain silent on Israeli violations against the site. Hamas said Israel should pay a heavy price if it keeps on such violations.

“Bab al-Rahma, the Marwani prayer hall, the Omar prayer hall, the Buraq prayer hall and the Buraq Wall are all part and parcel of our beloved Mosque,” Hamas said.

The movement condemned Israel for continued persecution of the people of Jerusalem al-Quds, demolishing their homes and imposing exorbitant taxes on them to force them to leave the holy city.

Israel Moves Advanced Missile Systems To Lebanese Border On Fears Of Hezbollah Attack

Via AlMasdarNews.com

A Hebrew-language channel stated on Wednesday night that the Israeli army expects an attack by Hezbollah during the Islamic Eid Al-Adha holiday.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, Kann, reported that Israel fears a “second attack” by Hezbollah in the next 48 hours, that is, during the celebration of Eid al-Adha.

The news channel reported that, based on this expectation, the Israeli army has strengthened its forces in the north near the Lebanese and Syrian borders, deploying advanced missile systems, special rockets and intelligence-gathering capabilities, for fear of a reaction from Hezbollah, after one of its members was killed in an airstrike on July 20th in Damascus.

The Israel-based news channel quoted a “Lebanese diplomat in Beirut” – whom they did not name – as saying that Hezbollah does not want a comprehensive escalation with Israel, but that it is looking for a real retaliation.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Is this for real, or is the Israeli government broadcasting it is preparing to try a "false flag" against Hezbollah?!?

False flags are a very common form of Israeli statecraft; I am hoping (and praying) for calm, but I don't know that this will happen, looking at the level of distraction Netanyahu needs to misdirect Israeli citizens away from looking at the government's response to the Covid-19 pandemic, and his own corruption trial problems.

No one talking about West Bank annexation anymore: Israeli FM

Israel’s foreign minister says no one, not even the American officials, talks about Tel Aviv’s plan to annex part of the occupied West Bank anymore.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said on Wednesday the regime’s annexation plan is not being discussed either by Tel Aviv or the American officials he speaks to on a weekly basis.

Asked if “annexation is off the agenda,” Ashkenazi replied, “No one is talking about it, justifiably… Not the Americans, either at the moment.”

He said, however, that he “can’t say for sure that it is off the agenda.”

'Last Supper' artwork of feasting Netanyahu irks Israeli leader

A statue in a Tel Aviv square of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu enjoying a "Last Supper" feast added new bite on Wednesday to mounting protests against his handling of the coronavirus crisis.

Netanyahu, whose popularity has plunged in opinion polls amid 21.5% unemployment, said his depiction in a mock tableau of Jesus's final meal before his crucifixion, was tantamount to a death threat.

In the installation, Netanyahu sits alone at a grand 10-metre (33 ft) long table, with two candelabras, grabbing at a huge cake resembling an Israeli flag.

Moet & Chandon champagne, Chivas Regal scotch and Courvoisier cognac are placed alongside a heaping spread of fruit and meats, accompanied by a single cigar, to allude to the corruption allegations against Israel's longest-serving premier.

Netanyahu's son apologizes for offending Hindus with photoshopped meme of goddess giving the middle finger

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s eldest son Yair has once again been forced to apologize for an untoward tweet, after he shared a meme of the Hindu goddess Durga making a rude gesture.

In the meme, the face of Liat Ben Ari, the prosecutor in one of his father’s ongoing corruption cases, has been superimposed on the body of the multi-armed Hindu goddess of war.

The goddess’ many arms were photoshopped to flip the bird, while Attorney General Avichai Mandelbit’s face was placed on a tiger at her feet, alongside a caption that read “Know your place you despicable people.”

Israeli Army Reports Detecting Suspicious Activity on Border With Lebanon

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) said on Tuesday they had detected individuals deemed suspicious on the border with Lebanon, dubbed the "Blue Line" to mark the color of helmets of UN peacekeepers who were deployed there after Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon in 2000.

On Monday, the Israeli forces said they had thwarted an attempt by what they called "terrorists" to infiltrate the country, referring to Lebanon's Hezbollah paramilitary troops.

"Several suspects were spotted at a security fence along the Blue Line in Western Galilee shortly ago," the IDF said in a press release.

In defiance of popular opinion, DNC rejects motion to condition aid to Israel over annexation

On Monday, the Democratic National Committee’s platform committee voted down an amendment that would have added the word “occupation” to its platform and conditioned aid to Israel if the country moved forward with its proposed annexation of the West Bank.

The motion was proposed by Bernie Sanders delegate Clem Balanoff, the executive director of Our Revolution’s Illinois chapter. The proposed amendment would have asserted that Palestinians have the right to live “without occupation” and added a line declaring that United States aid should not be used “to facilitate annexation or violate Palestinian rights.”

“At a time when hundreds of thousands of Americans have been marching in our streets – and many of you on this call – for equality and civil rights, it is unconscionable for the Democratic Party not to speak truthfully to the Palestinians efforts to secure those same rights,” Balanoff told the committee.

Heightened Tensions Along the Lebanese/Israeli Border

Along with Iranian military advisors and Russian air support, Hezbollah fighters are involved in aiding Syria combat US aggression, including its ISIS, al-Nusra and other jihadist proxies.

Israeli airstrikes in Syria killed Hezbollah fighters before. Its leadership vowed to retaliate against Israeli aggression when any of its personnel are harmed.

For days, tensions along the Lebanese/Israeli border remain heightened.

On Monday, Lebanese Al-Manar television reported the following:

Israel’s IDF “claim(ed) that “Hezbollah attempted to carry out an infiltration operation and that the Israeli army frustrated the attack and killed a number of its fighters,” adding:

“Hezbollah then issued a statement to refute the Israeli claims and stress that the Israeli army unilaterally opened fire for fear of Hezbollah response to the killing of the martyr Ali Mohsen in the latest raid on Syria.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

It feels as though the entire Middle East is about to be set ablaze; unfortunately, the guys striking the match are Prime Minister Netanyahu's government in Tel Aviv, and their enablers in this US administration and Congress. After all, it's not THEIR kids who will get killed and maimed for life, in a campaign against Lebanon and Iran.

The Beginning of the U.S.-Iran Hot War?

“Americans should not blame others in vain,” Iranian general Esmail Gha’ani has declared, “this is a fire they have lit and today has engulfed them.” Gha’ani, a veteran military commander who heads the Quds Force, the branch of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) responsible for extraterritorial operations, was speaking about the massive fire that has overtaken a U.S. navy vessel in San Diego.

The provocative remarks come amid signs of a new level of covert warfare being waged against Iran. The country has been beset by its own mysterious infernos and explosions, including at parks, medical clinics, power plants, ports, factories, a missile production compound, and a nuclear facility. The latter has been attributed to Israel by a source speaking to the New York Times. The incidents also come as the Trump administration has greenlighted the CIA to target Iranian infrastructure with cyberweapons.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump has utterly no clue of what he might unleash, if he either he joins with Israel to attack Iran, or attacks Iran directly, for which Netanyahu has been constantly been agitating.

Am I the only human being on this planet without SMD (selective memory disorder) who remembers what Moscow's envoy said at a diplomatic conference to his Iranian counterpart last summer, when the guy made the statement: Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says The article goes on to state the following:
"“Iran will withstand this type of fight and Iran is not alone,” Zamir Kabulov, the Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for Asian countries including Iran, said at a Russian-Iranian policy forum in Moscow.

When asked if Russia was ready to provide material support to Iran if the U.S. attacks it, Kabulov said that “specific actions are a question for the Russian president.”

“But it’s not just Russia, many other countries sympathize and empathize with Iran,” the Kommersant business daily quoted him as saying. “Tehran won’t be alone if the U.S., God forbid, takes wild and irresponsible actions against it."

War with Russia over Iran?!? You have GOT to be flipping kidding me!!

However, unfortunately, just because something would be the most ham-fistedly, pig-headedly stupid thing the US government and military could possibly do, is utterly no guarantee that they won't do it.

Next Monday is 3 August; we're barely 90 days out until the next election, and between the Covid 19 pandemic and the economic depression with which the country is dealing, President Trump is losing the window on gaining another term in office, and rapidly.

Animals are at their most dangerous when wounded, and between the "Nothing-gate/Russiagate", and his current woes in office, the President is a very definitely geopolitically wounded politician.

He may think that his only card, right now, he's left with, is to play "the war card" against Iran, and that this country, and the world, will line up behind him solidly on this; the man could not possibly be further from the truth.

As long as I have breath, and it does not become illegal, through the suspension of the Constitution and Bill of Rights as a "wartime measure", I will continue to advise President Trump, and this administration, against this recklessly dangerous path of action.

And there is a companion article, from sputniknews.com today, with the headline reading:

This article goes on to state: "At the same time, Washington has repeatedly ignored Tehran's calls for the US to stop sending its carriers to the Gulf and its warnings that such actions only contribute to the escalation of tensions in the region, not to security.

The US Navy has criticised Iran’s military drills that are taking place along the waterways in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, adding that it is monitoring them closely. The American military further called the war games an Iranian attempt "to intimidate and coerce", without clarifying whom or for what purpose.

"We are aware of the Iranian exercise involving attacking a mock-up of a vessel similar to a motionless aircraft carrier [...] We are always watchful of this type of irresponsible and reckless behaviour by Iran in the vicinity of busy international waterways", US Fifth Fleet spokeswoman Rebecca Rebarich said in an interview with AFP."

Folks, something wicked this way comes.

‘Do not repeat this mistake:’ Israel’s Netanyahu threatens Hezbollah after group denies ‘infiltration’ at Lebanon border

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Lebanese Hezbollah fighters not to test his military, and Defense Minister Benny Gantz has promised a powerful response, after a bout of shelling on the Israel/Lebanon border.

Israeli forces opened fire on the disputed Shebaa Farms area along the Lebanese border on Monday, responding to what they said was an infiltration attempt by a “terrorist cell.” Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops say they blasted the infiltrators with machine guns and tanks, and managed to thwart the incursion.

Although witnesses from Lebanon contacted by Reuters verified the Israeli story, Hezbollah officials denied an infiltration attempt, saying in a statement that Israeli forces had taken “nervous action” and fired upon the Shebaa Farms themselves.

Watch: Israel Reinforces Troops Near Golan Heights Fearing Hezbollah Retaliation To Strikes On Syria

Submitted by South Front,

The Middle East is rapidly moving towards a new round of confrontation between the US-Israeli bloc and Iranian-led Shiite forces...

On July 26, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) deployed M109 Doher howitzers near the separation line with Lebanon. The deployment of howitzers became the latest in a series of broad measures employed by the IDF near Lebanon recently. Earlier, the 13th “Gideon” Infantry Battalion of the IDF’s elite 1st “Golani” Brigade reinforced troops near the border. The number Israeli Hermes 450 drone reconnaissance flights also significantly increased over southern Lebanon. Additional IDF units were also deployed in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. On top of this, the IDF announced that it will hold the Lebanese government responsible “for all actions emanating from Lebanon”.

Webmaster's Commentary:

With the election-year turmoil here in the US, coupled with the broader issues of Covid 19 and riots in major metropolitan areas of the US, Netanyahu feels he can "get away with" major provocations in Syria and Lebanon, and that President Trump will do utterly nothing to stop him; the world is in for a profoundly dangerous set of moments which may well not resolve themselves until far after the US elections in November.

Israel & Hezbollah Exchange Fire Across Lebanese Border In Major Clash

Just this past weekend, on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu put Syria and Lebanon on notice, saying that any and all attacks for provocations along the border would result in a military response.

Netanyahu further outlined that the governments would bear responsibility. The remarks made at his weekly cabinet meeting seemed particularly aimed at Hezbollah. He said this was part of Israel's “consistent policy to not allow Iran to entrench militarily on our northern border” — this in reference to Lebanese Hezbollah, which is widely seen as but an arm of the Ayatollah. And on Monday there are already reports of shots fired along the Israeli-Lebanese border, something that's been somewhat rare of late. The AP reports:

Coronavirus: Israeli court rules Palestinian prisoners have no right to social distancing

Israel's Supreme Court has ruled that Palestinian prisoners have no right to social distancing protection against coronavirus.

In a ruling on Thursday, Israel's top court rejected a petition made by the Adalah legal centre for minority rights, which called on Israel to implement Covid-19 protective guidelines for inmates at Gilboa prison, a facility in northern Israel housing about 450 Palestinians classified by Israel as "security prisoners".

Israel’s list of compromised officials suggests their guilt of war crimes

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has adjourned without issuing its ruling on whether Israeli officials will be tried for war crimes against the Palestinian people since 2014, when Gaza was destroyed during “Operation Protective Edge”. With an extended timeframe until the ruling is due, Israel now has additional time to prepare for any eventual action taken by The Hague. It has apparently already drawn up a list of officials who might be liable to be prosecuted for war crimes.

According to Haaretz, the list contains the names of 200-300 Israeli officials, most probably including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Benny Gantz. The list has been drawn up in utmost secrecy, not least because, as Haaretz points out, “The court is likely to view a list of names as an official Israeli admission of these officials’ involvement in the incidents under investigation.” The existence of the list alone is likely to be viewed as such.

Israel creates list of officials to prevent arrests for war crimes

Israel is preparing a secret list of hundreds of its officials who are liable to be tried in The Hague on war crimes charges, it has been revealed. The government is warning them not to travel in case they are arrested.

The report comes amid news of the International Criminal Court (ICC) possibly opening an investigation into war crimes committed by both Israel and Hamas, starting from the Israeli military offensive on Gaza in 2014, known as “Operation Protective Edge”. A pre-trial chamber’s determination on court jurisdiction in Palestine is expected soon (the ICC just adjourned for the summer holiday and will reconvene in mid-August), and the Israeli government doesn’t anticipate the judges will rule in its favor.

Israeli farmers sue the military over its Iron Dome air defense system, alleging ‘radiation exposure’ and a ‘land grab’

The Iron Dome intended to protect Israel from Hamas missiles launched sporadically from the Gaza Strip has led to a lawsuit by farmers, who say they’ve suffered from its radiation and from ‘occupation’ of their agricultural lands.

The Iron Dome anti-missile system was set up near a collective farm, or kibbutz, in 2012. The exact location of the farm somewhere in the Negev desert has not been revealed.

Now people living in the kibbutz are demanding monetary compensation from IDF for exposure to “very strong” radiation from the anti-missile radars.

The IDF informed the local residents about hazards only six years after setting the battery up. It warned the farmers not to approach the fields near the area. Until then, the farmers say, they’d worked on their fields unaware of any risk.

Revenge against Palestinians is understandable, Israeli judge says in acquitting two security officers who attacked innocent man

Yesterday, an unbelievable verdict came down at the Beersheba District Court in Israel:

Two Israeli security officers were acquitted in a case involving the lynching of Haftom Zarhum, an Eritrean refugee, although they were filmed beating him and repeatedly dropping a bench on his head. The judge cited “reasonable doubt”.

The bloodthirsty mob lynching in October 2015 was part of a string of “mistaken identity” incidents in Israel. A terror attack had in fact taken place earlier at the Beersheba central bus station; a man from an unrecognized Bedouin village in the Negev opened fire, killing a soldier and wounding 11 others.

Zarhum was a passerby, who was mistaken for the shooter by a security guard because he was dark skinned. A police spokesman in the wake of the incident said that it was “not clear if [Zarhum] is involved with the event or if he was shot due to his exterior appearance.”

Palestinians Accuse Israel of Stealing 1500-year-old Christian Relic from Bethlehem

Video footage posted online by the PLO Department of Public Diplomacy and Policy showed Israeli forces escorting a large flatbed truck out from the town of Tuqu, in the occupied West Bank district of Bethlehem.

The rare artefact, which dates back to the Byzantine period, was used as a water basin for baptisms and is one of three known relics of its kind.

The other two include one recently discovered at the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and another belonging to a church in Beit Jibrin, an ancient Palestinian town left in ruins following Israel’s 1948 invasion.

Israeli Missiles Hit Several Sites in Damascus, Wounding Seven

At least six missiles were reported to have hit targets in the southern part of Syria’s capital city of Damascus, according to state media. The strikes targeted Shi’ite militia facilities, wounding at least seven people.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says that the strikes targeted “pro-Iranian” sites, as is generally the case when Israel attacks Syria. Unlike most cases, Syria did not appear to claim substantial interceptions.

Though Israeli officials rarely comment on specific strikes, they have presented attacks on Iranian targets in Syria as trying to chase Iran out of the country. In attacking Iran, Israel avoids this being specifically about them attacking Syria.

In recent weeks, reports are that Israel’s attacks on Iran are being done specifically to try to start a war before the November US election. The expectation is that Iran will eventually retaliate and that this will be a pretext to further escalate the situation into open warfare.

The JCPOA at 5: How the U.S. squandered an unprecedented diplomatic opening with Iran

The deal was never intended as a grand bargain. But by stopping the nuclear capability clock for a decade and a half, with intrusive inspections, it offered an off ramp, an ecosystem conducive to diplomacy and a stepping stone to a mutually brighter future.

President Trump’s impatience has proven costly. Iran has reduced its compliance with the nuclear deal and floats consideration of abandoning it altogether and the NPT as well.

If change is to take place, as much effort, persistence, financial resources, and patience should be devoted to diplomatic solutions as has been devoted to sanctions and pressure.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The reason President Trump did this, is that he can only see Iran, and its political and economic struggles, through the jaundiced perspective of Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu, who continually describes Iran as an "existential threat" to Israel, when the "threat" is primarily economic in nature, rather than existential.

Recently, Iran's Chief Rabbi, Yehuda Gerami, made the following statement:
"There is a big difference between Zionism and Judaism," says Rabbi who also hails former Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani as a "national hero."

Iran's chief rabbi: The Israeli government doesn't care about Judaism

The article goes on to state: "The chief rabbi of Iran's Jewish community, Yehuda Gerami, lambasted the Israeli government on Sunday, denied any connection between Judaism and Zionism and said there was "total freedom of religion" in Iran.

In a Hebrew-language interview with Al-Monitor, published Sunday and broadcast on Israel's Channel 12, Gerami denied that the conflict between Iran and Israel is a religious one and took aim at the Israeli government.

People tend to get confused, but there is a big difference between Zionism and Judaism. Judaism is a religion that is 3,300 years old, while Zionism is a national and political movement that is just 100 years old. As a country, the State of Israel has nothing to do with religion in general and Judaism in particular," he said.

"The Israeli government doesn't care about Judaism at all. Everything that they supposedly give to the Orthodox is because of some political deal or other, and not because of their religious approach," said Gerami."

What Netanyahu is trying to conjure, is for the US to confront Iran militarily, so that it's "the others of the earth" who get their hands dirty with yet another immoral, illegal war, with no basis in realty; in the 20th and 21st century, the US government has excelled in such wars..

But he is going to have to do this well before the elections, because, unfortunately, President Trump is just unhinged enough, and completely under Netanyahu's Svengali-like influence, to think he can justify such a war with the American people; he cannot, and I would like to hope that there is at least one "adult in the room" who can dissuade him from such an insane act, because such a war... will most probably mean a war with Russia as well.

Iran ‘Won’t Be Alone’ If U.S. Attacks, Russian Official Says

Time is very much running out for Netanyahu to get this to happen, as we are are at the end of July, and the election happens 3 November; unfortunately, however, with Netanyahu a politically wounded animal, facing massive corruption charges in Israel, one cannot tell of what he might be truly capable, to divert attention from this trial, and plunge the world, if he thinks this is "the only way out" of his trial woes.

Jordan king warns that Israel's annexation plans jeopardise regional peace

Jordan’s King Abdullah warned on Monday that any unilateral Israeli moves to annex territory in the occupied West Bank would fuel instability and dim hopes of a final settlement of the decades-old Arab-Israeli conflict.

The monarch told British lawmakers the only path to a comprehensive and lasting Middle East peace was the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on land captured by Israel in the 1967 war, and with East Jerusalem as its capital.

“Any unilateral Israeli measure to annex lands in the West Bank is unacceptable, as it would undermine the prospects of achieving peace and stability in the Middle East,” the monarch was quoted in a palace statement as telling British foreign and defence parliamentary committee members in a virtual meeting.

EU Foreign Ministers Seek Measures to ‘Deter’ Israel From Expanding Its Sovereignty Over West Bank

Earlier this month, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said that Tel Aviv would postpone the 1 July deadline for the beginning of a sovereignty expansion over large parts of the West Bank and the Jordan Valley, arguing that the Defence Ministry is still “weighing the risks in the field of security, as [the move] will have serious repercussions”.

Eleven European foreign ministers sent a letter to the block’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, demanding the senior official provide them with a list of measures that could be taken by the European Union to deter Israel, in the event that Tel Aviv moves to expand its sovereignty over large parts of the West Bank and the Jordan Valley, The Guardian reported on Tuesday.

Any Israeli desecration of al-Aqsa Mosque will ignite armed struggle, Hamas warns Tel Aviv regime

The Palestinian Islamic resistance movement, Hamas, has warned Israeli authorities against violations at al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied Old City of Jerusalem al-Quds, emphasizing that any provocative move against the sacred site will infuriate Palestinians and subsequently ignite an armed struggle.

Hamas, in a statement released on Tuesday, said the Israeli regime will pay a hefty price for its encroachment on the revered compound, and continuing violations at the mosque will be a cause for confrontation.

The Palestinian movement also rejected an Israeli court ruling to close the historic Golden Gate, known as Bab al-Rahma in Arabic and the only eastern gate to al-Aqsa Mosque, underlining that the Israeli regime will not be able to withstand the power of Palestinians as the people can make the impossible possible and abolish the occupation schemes targeting Jerusalem al-Quds.

Israeli Court Blocks Amnesty International Attempt to Curb Spyware Firm NSO

In January, Amnesty International filed a lawsuit against Israeli cyber-intelligence firm NSO Group, urging the court to revoke the company’s export license and restrict it from selling technology allegedly used to violate human rights across the globe.

The Tel Aviv District Court has rejected a petition filed by Amnesty International to suspend Israeli spyware firm NSO Group’s export license over allegations that the company's technology is used to target journalists, lawmakers and activists around the world, including one of the NGO's employees, according to The Times of Israel.

The court ruling, issued on Sunday and published on Monday, stated that lawyers for the human rights watchdog had failed to provide sufficient evidence “to prove the claim that an attempt was made to track a human rights activist by trying to hack his cellphone” or that the hacking was conducted by the NSO Group.

Mohammad Abu al-Hummus, a member of the Follow-Up Committee in al-‘Isawiya, stated that several army jeeps invaded the town, before the soldiers assaulted many residents near their homes.

He added that the soldiers also abducted Sa’adi Mahmoud, in addition to his sons Mohammad and Ahmad.

Trump Is Trying to Hide US and Israeli War Crimes by Attacking the International Criminal Court

Awar crimes complaint has been filed against Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump adviser Jared Kushner in the International Criminal Court (ICC). It is now up to the ICC’s Office of the Prosecutor to decide whether the complaint should be pursued. If the prosecutor launches a preliminary examination and finds reason to believe they committed war crimes, the court could then authorize a full investigation.

The complaint, filed by Middlesex University law professor William Schabas on June 30 on behalf of four Palestinians who live in the West Bank, states “there is credible evidence” that Trump, Netanyahu and Kushner “are complicit in acts that may amount to war crimes relating to the transfer of populations into occupied territory and the annexation of the sovereign territory of the State of Palestine.” Under article 15 of the ICC’s Rome Statute, any individual, group or organization can bring a complaint to the Office of the Prosecutor.

Netanyahu vows relief as Israelis fume over virus-battered economy

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday pledged immediate financial aid to Israelis whose livelihoods have been devastated by the coronavirus, as his government faces mounting anger over its pandemic response.

Thousands of protesters turned out in Tel Aviv on Saturday to voice frustration at Netanyahu, who won praise for his early response to the outbreak but has come under criticism amid a resurgence in cases.

Netanyahu did not mention the Tel Aviv protest ahead of his weekly cabinet meeting, but promised that financial help was on the way, starting with cash disbursement of up to 7,500 shekels ($2,170) to the self-employed.

"This support, this grant, is not dependent on legislation and we have instructed that it be put into effect today. The button will be pressed and the money will reach accounts in the coming days," he said.

Elderly Palestinian dies after 26 years in Israeli prison

A Palestinian prisoner died on Wednesday after 26 years in Israeli prison.

Palestinian human rights groups and political parties accused Israel of years of medical neglect in the death of Saadi al-Gharabli.

Israeli prison authorities transferred al-Gharabli from Eshel prison in the south to the Kaplan Medical Center in central Israel a few days before he died. He was reportedly unconscious.

Al-Gharabli, 75, suffered from various medical conditions, including prostate cancer. Israeli prison authorities failed to provide him with adequate medical treatment.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club said al-Gharabli faced the “slow killing” of medical negligence over years of imprisonment.

It says al-Gharabli is one of 69 Palestinians who have died from medical negligence in Israeli custody since 1967.

On Israel’s Bizarre Definitions: The West Bank Is Already Annexed

Wednesday, July 1, was meant to be the day on which the Israeli government officially annexed 30% of the occupied Palestinian West Bank and the Jordan Valley. This date, however, came and went and annexation was never actualized.

"I don’t know if there will be a declaration of sovereignty today," said Israeli Foreign Minister, Gabi Ashkenazi, with reference to the self-imposed deadline declared earlier by Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. An alternative date was not immediately announced.

But does it really matter?

Whether Israel’s illegal appropriation of Palestinian land takes place with massive media fanfare and a declaration of sovereignty, or whether it happens incrementally over the course of the coming days, weeks, and months, Israel has, in reality, already annexed the West Bank – not just 30% of it but, in fact, the whole area.

Israel’s Sabotage of Natanz Shows Shift to Direct Attacks on Iran Program

Israel has been picking up its attacks against Iran in recent weeks, notably a recent sabotage of the Natanz uranium enrichment site, which analysts are seeing as a sign that Israel is looking to directly attack Iran’s civilian program.

This is hardly the first time Israel has done that, and the Natanz strategy of cyberattacks as sabotage are in line with past efforts. Iran’s civilian nuclear program does not have military dimensions, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be targeted.

Israel tends to attack Iran for non-specific reasons, beyond general hostility, and in recent weeks Israeli officials have called for the nation to be on alert in case all the attacking of Iran leads to retaliation.

WATCH: Daily Life in Occupied Palestine

Most Americans, whose government gives Israel over $10 million per day, have no idea that Israel commits human rights abuses every single day, since US media virtually never report this information: that Israeli forces daily invade Palestinian villages, daily abduct people, and daily injure people; that virtually every week Israeli forces destroy farmers’ trees, demolish family homes, confiscate Palestinian land, and more…

These clips illustrate the kind of essential information US media companies almost never show Americans.

A letter to Joe Biden: Stop your blind support for Israel

US presidential candidate Joe Biden wants you to believe that he is opposed to Israel’s likely annexation of parts of the occupied West Bank, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu plans to carry out this month.

“I do not support annexation,” he said during a recent call with American Jewish donors. And yet, Biden’s senior foreign policy adviser, Antony Blinken, has insisted that under no circumstances - not even the annexation of the West Bank - would Biden consider reducing or withholding US military aid to Israel.

In addition, contrary to the position of his former boss, US President Barack Obama, Biden also pledged that, if elected, he would keep disagreements with Israeli policies private.

Israel's attacks on Iran's nuclear sites signal a new phase of conflict

Over the past week, mysterious explosions and fires have wracked key infrastructure connected to Iran’s nuclear programme at Natanz and Parchin, key facilities engaged in uranium enrichment and the production of rocket fuel for ballistic missiles.

The US and Israel have accused Iran of violating UN resolutions and the nuclear deal in testing new ballistic-missile technology. Although Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has repeatedly denied any intent to create nuclear weapons, even going so far as to issue a fatwa against it, Iran’s enemies are convinced it plans to “go nuclear”.

The recent attacks appear to be an attempt by a hostile state to degrade that programme and delay Iran’s ability to potentially send such weapons to targets outside of Iran. Tehran has said that a cyberattack could be behind the explosion at Natanz, which destroyed a building that allegedly housed an advanced centrifuge system that could increase the speed of enrichment by up to 50 times.

Netanyahu’s Annexation Drive

It is that staying power that navigates the often feeble exhortations to international law that pullulate airwaves and diplomatic traffic. Be it the legality of international settlements, attacks on sovereign countries that have not been given the legitimising wash of the UN Security Council, or Israel’s possession of nuclear weapons – all of these are frowned upon, condemned only to be assimilated into a ceremony of legitimacy. Israel might well be condemned and scolded, but nothing more will come of it. The game of semantics will be played, masking the exertion of brute force.

This pattern threatens to reassert itself in the latest warnings directed at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s promise of annexation. The timetabling for this muscular assertion of land pinching remains vague. It is intended to apply to Jewish settlements in the West Bank and in the Jordan Valley from this month.

In Israeli settlements, money is on annexation real estate boom

In the Jewish settlement of Ariel, Perri Ben Senior can't wait for Israel to annex this part of the occupied West Bank, hoping it will be a boon for her real estate firm.

Israel DM: Israel Not Necessarily Behind All Iran Attacks

The latest in a flurry of incidents in Iran, all of which have been blamed on Israel, saw explosions and fire last week at Natanz nuclear site. Iran initially downplayed the seriousness of the fire, though they’ve since admitted the damage was more severe.

Earlier reports were that this was some dissident group, but reports of sabotage later led to claims Israel carried out the attack as a cyberattack causing the damage. Israel has, of course, regularly attacked Iran, particularly with cyberattacks.

Israel hasn’t officially commented on what happened at Natanz, and still hasn’t, as on Sunday Defense Minister Benny Gantz cautioned that it was “not necessarily” Israel behind attacks just because they happened in Iran.

US Moves To Seize Iran Petroleum On New Tanker Group Bound For Venezuela

Via AlMasdarNews.com,

US prosecutors will seek to put an end to Iran’s oil deliveries to Venezuela, as they have filed a new suit to seize the contents on these tankers.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the U.S. prosecutors are targeting the oil from four Iranian tankers, along with the payments between Tehran and Caracas.

Iranian oil tankers off the port of Bandar Abbas, via AFP.

Tehran will help fund the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who Washington has designated as a terrorist organization.

“[These payments] support the IRGC’s full range of nefarious activities, including the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery, support for terrorism, and a variety of human rights abuses, at home and abroad”, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Zia Faruqui claims in the filing.

Webmaster's Commentary:

President Trump seems to believe, magically, that he can flout international law because he wants a specific outcome to happen here, through a muscular "mis-juxtapositioning" of American law, and this is not the first time Faruqui has tried to pull this this, as you will see about with a similar attempt against Syria:

Unsealed Warrant and Forfeiture Complaint Seek Seizure of Oil Tanker “Grace 1” for Unlawful Use of U.S. Financial System to Support and Finance Sale of Oil Products to Syria

This happened in August of last year.

I have to wonder just how far Putin is going to let this madness play out, until he feels forced to act, and what he will do when he feels he has no other course to play, than to protect Iranian and Venezuelan commerce.

Israel Annexation Plan Puts International Law to The Test – Is It Still Relevant?

If Israel’s planned annexation of a further thirty percent of Palestinian territory goes ahead on July 1st or anytime thereafter then international law and a rules-based world is toast.

Democrats call for aid cut to Israel over annexation

Democratic lawmakers are signing a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo calling to cut aid to Israel if it proceeds with annexation. Mike TheilerUPI
Four women in the US Congress say that if Israel proceeds with further annexation plans in the occupied West Bank it would “lay the groundwork for Israel becoming an apartheid state.”

Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Betty McCollum and Pramila Jayapal are making the claim in a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that they are circulating for signature among colleagues.

According to Politico, the letter has been signed by nine more lawmakers including Senator Bernie Sanders.

Although the letter overlooks the current apartheid reality, it is not typical for US lawmakers to refer to Israeli apartheid at all.

It is even rarer for members of Congress to call for Israel to pay any price for its actions.

Israel's Sovereignty Bill: How Much Will it Cost And Who Will Pay the Price?

Although it is still unclear whether Israel will press ahead with its intention to apply sovereignty to parts of the West Bank, the Israeli media is already counting losses, saying the move would force the Jewish state to fork out a pretty penny on security and the absorption of Palestinians, money that the nation cannot spare.

Defence minister Benny Gantz said on Monday that the 1 July deadline, when Israel would extend its sovereignty over some parts of the West Bank, is not "a sacred date," stressing that his priorities lay in the tackling of COVID-19, not the inclusion of new territory.

Although the "annexation" plan remains on the table, Gantz is determined to first tackle the pandemic that shrank Israel's economy and sent the country's unemployment rates to unprecedented heights, before he gets the Jewish state into an endeavor that will force it to fork out a pretty penny, expenses that the nation cannot currently afford.

Netanyahu Warns Assad Not to Ally With Iran’s Ayatollahs, Hints Israeli Ops in Syria Will Continue

The Israeli Air Force has carried out hundreds of strikes in Syria in recent years, justifying air and missile attacks by accusing Iran of trying to establish a proxy presence in the Arab Republic. Damascus has denied these claims, and accused Tel Aviv of blatant aggression.

Israel will continue its military operations against Iran in Syria to prevent its entrenchment in that country, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced.

“We are absolutely resolved to prevent Iran from entrenching itself militarily in our immediate vicinity,” Netanyahu said, speaking to reporters at the start of a meeting with US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook on Tuesday.

“I say this to the ayatollahs in Tehran: Israel will continue to take the actions necessary to prevent you from creating another terror and military front against Israel. And I say to Bashar al-Assad: You’re risking the future of your country and your regime,” Netanyahu added.
