"There will be, in the next generation or so, a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude, and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak, producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies, so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them, but will rather enjoy it." -- Aldous Huxley - "The Ultimate Revolution". Aldous Huxley's speech at Berkeley Language Center, www.informationclearinghouse.info. March 20, 1962.
NATO on Tuesday doubled down on its pledge to eventually admit Ukraine during a meeting of the alliance’s foreign ministers in Bucharest, Romania, a position that played a major role in provoking Russia’s invasion.
The Romanian city was where NATO initially made the promise to Ukraine back in 2008, and at the time, US officials acknowledged that attempting to bring the country into the alliance could spark a war in the region.
“We made the decision in Bucharest in 2008 at the summit,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Tuesday. “I was there … representing Norway as Prime Minister. I remember very well the decisions. We stand by those decisions. NATO’s door is open.”
The US State Department has approved the potential sale of a $1bn anti-drone system to Qatar, the pentagon said on Tuesday.
“This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country that continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East,” the statement said.
Qatar has also been waiting for a response from the US on a request it made more than a year ago to buy four armed MQ-9B Predator drones, as part of an estimated $600m deal to boost their defensive capabilities.
The government of acting Prime Minister Ariel Henry has been under pressure over growing gang violence in the country and from demonstrators that are demanding Henry resign. Henry requested foreign military intervention last month to break a blockade of a key fuel terminal in Port-au-Prince, but the Haitian national police have since broken the blockade.
The US proposed a UN resolution calling for a foreign military force to enter Haiti after Henry’s request but has struggled to find a country willing to lead the intervention. The Times report said that while the Biden administration officials want to see military intervention in the country, they don’t want it to involve US troops.

The US and Russia were scheduled to hold talks to discuss the last remaining nuclear arms control treaty, the New START, in Cairo from November 29 to December 6. Ryabkov said that Russia will eventually propose new dates for the dialogue, but only when “the time is right.”
Trudeau admitted that the protests were not violent but still insisted that he is “confident” with his decision to use a law that has never been used before to stop the protests.
“There was no loss of life. There was no serious violence. There hasn’t been a recurrence of these kinds of illegal occupations since then. I am absolutely serene and confident that I made the right choice in agreeing with the invocation,” Trudeau told the commission that is investigating whether the government’s decision to use the Emergencies Act was justifiable.
Trudeau said that the “responsibility of a prime minister is to make the tough calls and keep people safe.”
Before the Emergencies Act was invoked, Trudeau said that those opposing Covid measures and restrictions were of a “small, fringe minority” who had “unacceptable views.”
Shin Bet and IDF brass reportedly warned a top Knesset panel on Tuesday to brace for a security escalation in the coming months, as the West Bank endured one of its bloodiest days this year.
An unnamed official who testified before the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee told lawmakers that the security establishment expects a rise in both the scope and professional nature of Palestinian attacks, Channel 12 reported.
Five Palestinians were killed on Tuesday, with one of them shot dead after carrying out a car ramming that seriously injured a soldier near the central West Bank settlement of Migron. The four others — including two brothers — were killed in what the army said were clashes with troops in nearby villages.
In a letter, Lapid asked more than 50 heads of state, including those of the UK and France, to pressure the Palestinian Authority, which exercises limited rule in the occupied West Bank, and prevent it from promoting the resolution at the General Assembly.
The resolution, approved by a UN committee in early November, asks that the ICJ "urgently" weigh in on Israel's "prolonged occupation, settlement and annexation of the Palestinian territory", violating the Palestinians' right to self-determination.
Ukraine should be free to strike military sites inside Russia as it fends off attacks on its critical infrastructure, Latvia’s foreign minister said. But allies including the US have held back on sending weapons that can strike Russia.
The United States on Tuesday announced $53 million to support the purchase of power grid equipment to Ukraine to help Kyiv fight Russian attacks targeting its energy infrastructure that left millions in the dark with no heating.
"This equipment will be rapidly delivered to Ukraine on an emergency basis to help Ukrainians persevere through the winter," a State Department statement said, adding that the package would include distribution transformers, circuit breakers, surge arresters among other equipment.
Russia has been carrying out huge attacks on Ukraine's electricity transmission and heating infrastructure roughly weekly since October, in what Kyiv and its allies say is a deliberate campaign to harm civilians, a war crime.

In typical Groundhog Day fashion, the Pentagon has failed yet another audit. Yet, for the most part, nobody seems to care in the media or government. When you fail year after year, it becomes the rule versus the exception to fail basic standards.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams issued a directive on Tuesday to city workers that will result in more individuals suffering from severe mental illness being taken involuntarily to local hospitals for psychiatric assessments, even if they pose no danger to themselves or others.
An immigration attorney on MSNBC did not appear to have his facts straight regarding how immigration law in this country works.
He went on the network to state that it was "unlawful" to not grant amnesty to illegal immigrants within the country. Where he came up with something like that, we will never know.
"There is an American law that allows for asylum. The use of title 42, a 1944 law that was done around the same time we were imprisoning Japanese-Americans in internment camps, it is a Stephen Miller special exacted to give harm and cruelty to these individuals," said Aaron Orr, the president of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
The Trump Administration used Title 42 to remove illegal migrants who traveled to the United States immediately. It was an efficient system that allowed the country to continue to process legal immigrants while simultaneously dealing with the crisis at the border.
Republicans are demanding answers on the lack of transparency on visitor logs from President Joe Biden’s Delaware home.
“The White House has dodged questions on a report that the Secret Service claims to have no records on who has visited Biden’s home, where the president has spent more than 25% of his time since he took office. By comparison, the visitor logs to the White House have been released,” Fox News reported.
Kentucky GOP Rep. James Comer said: “President Biden has spent a large amount of time at his Delaware residence since assuming office. Americans deserve to know who President Biden is meeting with, especially since we know that he routinely met with Hunter’s business associates during his time as vice president. The Biden Administration must provide transparency to the American people.”
South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace also demanded answers from Biden over his Delaware visits, arguing that everyone who comes “into close proximity with the President, in an official or personal capacity, is screened by the Secret Service” and that their record of coming close to the president “exists somewhere.”
“It’s bad if there is official business being conducted and they aren’t telling us with who,” Mace said. “It’s even worse the Administration is using the Secret Service to excuse its complete and total lack of transparency.”
The United States will auction nearly one million acres off the Alaskan coast for new oil and gas drilling in December, mandated in the so-called “Inflation” Reduction Act (IRA).
The United States Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), inside the Department of Interior, will put hundreds of thousands of acres off Alaska’s southcentral coast up for auction on December 30 for new oil and gas drilling projects. The lease sale has to be completed by the end of the year to comply with the IRA, which was added to the piece of legislation to win support from West Virginia Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin.
The auction sale will be of approximately 958,202 acres in Alaska’s Cook Inlet. Bloomberg reported the department estimated that over the lifetime of the lease sales, the area could produce nearly 200 million barrels of crude oil and 300 billion cubic feet of natural gas. However, the estimate would only be accurate if any drilling actually occurs.
I don’t think Biden will run in 2024. I just don’t see it happening. First off, he’s 80-years-old today and looks and sounds like he’s 99-years-old, at best. What will he be like 2 years from now? My God, I shudder to think. The man will be wearing a bib and drooling all over himself by that time. And we all know Biden has dementia or some “brain issues.” He’s a bumbling fool. I am sorry to be so blunt, and perhaps callous, but at this point, I am over it. Dementia Joe and his team of commies are destroying this country and the lives of Americans, they deserve all the mockery we can muster. But, I really don’t see the puppet masters (Obama and company) allowing stubborn, narcissistic Joe to run again.
Even though Joe narrowly escaped immediate termination when “ballot harvesting” and traitor “Republicans” staved off the massive red wave, the reality of the situation has not changed one bit. Joe is still an unpopular, cranky, senile fool, whose entire illegitimate “presidency” is a smoke and mirrors “production” that feels like a poorly run backyard carnival, complete with the “bearded lady” and all the sideshow freaks.
But with that all said, I will admit that it’s almost impossible to figure out what these idiots are going to do. We give them far too much credit for being these “evil geniuses.” They’re really not. They are reacting quickly and stupidly to an ever-changing political landscape and also to the “Trump factor,” which they can never figure out, not to mention, these ghouls are suffering from Stage 5 TDS and can’t think straight, from the get-go.
Former Vice President Mike Pence says Donald Trump should apologize for having dinner with Kanye West and white nationalist Nick Fuentes.
Some conservative pundits, however, are suggesting they’re tired of the rotating controversies pushed by the media and are demanding Republicans no longer play the apology game, even if it is warranted.
“President Trump was wrong to give a white nationalist, an anti-semite and a Holocaust denier a seat at the table and I think he should apologize for it and he should denounce those individuals and their hateful rhetoric, without qualification,” he insisted.
If anyone believed that the Republican Party would slow down monetary and military support for Ukraine, I hate to break it to you but they are still very much the same war hawks they were before the recent midterms.
The Biden administration has pounced on the idea that if Republicans were elected to Congress and could clinch a majority in the House, support for Ukraine could potentially be in danger. Yet here we are, with a slim majority in the House and the GOP parading out their best and brightest to assuage any fears that anything might change under their watch.
A clip promoting the “beauty” of euthanasia sparked outrage online, as Canada plans to expand the application of medical assistance in dying (MAID) next year.
Retailer Simons has shocked Canada by releasing a commercial dubbed “All Is Beauty” supporting assisted suicide. The clip features a woman named Jennyfer Hatch who opted to end her life in October – reports suggest she suffered from Ehlers Danlos syndrome.
Many users called the ad “dystopian”, with some warning that Canadian authorities would force it onto people who are too poor to pay their medical bills.
The controversy regarding euthanasia regulations escalated in 2021 when Canada adopted bill c-7, making several crucial changes to the procedure’s requirements: the new law erased a safeguard that stipulated that people seeking assisted suicide need have a terminal illness, making their death reasonably foreseeable.
Starting next year, Canada will allow individuals suffering from mental illness to ask for euthanasia too.
