Thought for the day

"No, there is a limit to the tyrant’s power!
When the oppressed man finds no justice,
When the burden grows unbearable, he appeals
With fearless heart to Heaven,
And thence brings down his everlasting rights,
Which there abide, inalienably his,
And indestructible as stars themselves." -- Friedrich Schiller, Wilhelm Tell’s Rutli Oath

The strategic village of Pavlovka, southwest of Donetsk city, has been liberated and cleared of Ukrainian troops, the Russian military announced on Monday.

“On November 14, after heavy fighting, Russian troops completely liberated the settlement of Pavlovka of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR),” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The village, located on a key crossroads, has seen intense fighting in recent weeks. Kiev’s forces sustained heavy casualties in the battle, the ministry said last week, losing some nine soldiers to one Russian.

The on-again, off-again relationship between former President Donald Trump and conservative organization Club for Growth looks to be off again, right before what is expected to be a big announcement that Trump will make another run for the White House in 2024.

The group recently released polling data which purports to show Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ahead of Trump in key early states like Iowa and New Hampshire.

The timing is not an accident, and neither is releasing the data to left-wing outlet Politico, who got the scoop.

Climate activists in Austria today poured a black, oily liquid over Austrian painter Gustav Klimt's masterpiece 'Death and Life' at Vienna's Leopold Museum.

Two members of the group 'Last Generation' threw the dye over the 1915 painting before one proceeded to glue himself to the glass protecting the masterpiece.

A security guard at the museum managed to restrain one of the activists before police arrived at the site.

Museum staff are now concerned that Klimt's painting could have been damaged in the protest.

'Restorers are working to determine whether the painting protected by glass has been damaged,' the museum's spokesman Klaus Pokorny said.

The 'Last Generation' group defended the protest, saying in a tweet that they were protesting 'oil and gas drilling,' which they called 'a death sentence to society.'

Numerous masterpieces across Europe have been attacked in recent weeks in protests at the lack of action against climate change.

Buying and selling in the world’s biggest bond market is supposed to be easy. However, for most of this year, says Gregory Whiteley, a bond portfolio manager at DoubleLine Capital, it has been anything but straightforward. Whiteley says a trader used to be able to get hold of $400mn of US Treasury bonds — not an outsize quantity in this $24tn market — as a routine matter. But now that typically involves breaking up the order into smaller chunks; perhaps doing $100mn of the trade electronically, he explains, and then picking up the phone to see if they can prise the rest of the debt from the hands of Wall Street’s trading desks over the course of a day. The US Treasury bond market suffered a huge scare at the start of the coronavirus pandemic when fears about a collapse in the global economy led to a sudden slump in prices and liquidity.

Hunter Biden on Tuesday appeared for an interview on Twitter Spaces to discuss his so-called ‘art’ and his interest in NFTs and crypto.

Hunter appeared on “The Crypto Roundtable Show” with host Mario Nawfal, a co-host and a handful of speakers who are experts on crypto.

The interview went sideways when one of the speakers asked Hunter Biden about former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried’s mega donations to the Democrat party.

Sam Bankman-Fried, a 30-year-old Democrat darling, spent more than $40 million to fund the midterms with his Ponzi scheme through the crypto exchange he founded (FTX).

A sculpture of the British Secret Intelligence Service officer and Soviet agent Kim Philby will be raised in the town of Prokhorovka in Russia’s Belgorod Region, the Readovka news media outlet reported on Tuesday.

The report did not reveal the exact date the monument is meant to be unveiled, but it did publish what appears to be a model of the monument where Philby is depicted standing against a stele bearing his profile.

Philby was one of the most prominent members of the Cambridge Five, a Soviet intelligence group that supplied Moscow with information from the UK during World War II and the early stages of the Cold War.

A British citizen, Philby was recruited by the USSR back in 1934 and joined the British Secret Intelligence Service in 1940. He was found to be a Soviet agent in 1963, at which point he defected to Moscow, where he lived for the rest of his life.

Who’s really in charge?

John Fetterman, a man with brain damage who lived off of mommy and daddy until he was 50, was ‘elected’ to Pennsylvania’s open US Senate seat last week.

Fetterman can barely speak after his massive stroke in May.

He needs giant monitors and a stenographer typing out questions in real time in order to communicate.
