Thought for the day

"Civil disobedience, as I put it to the audience, was not the problem, despite the warnings of some that it threatened social stability, that it led to anarchy. The greatest danger, I argued, was civil obedience, the submission of individual conscience to governmental authority. Such obedience led to the horrors we saw in totalitarian states, and in liberal states it led to the public's acceptance of war whenever the so-called democratic government decided on it.  In such a world, the rule of law maintains things as they are. Therefore, to begin the process of change, to stop a war, to establish justice, it may be necessary to break the law, to commit acts of civil disobedience, as Southern blacks did, as antiwar protesters did." -- Howard Zinn, from "You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train"

Democrat Senate candidate in Georgia Stacey Abrams lost again to Republican Brian Kemp on Tuesday, wasting over $100 million in campaign funds.

Abrams’ campaign and leadership committee, One Georgia, brought in a combined $105.3 million for her campaign, according to GPB News.

It is unclear exactly how much of the $105 million was spent on Abrams’ campaign, but her donors now know that Abrams is not a good investment in the state of Georgia.

The Kemp campaign and his leadership PAC raised $81.5 million in their election cycle, according to GPB News.

Abrams rode a dramatic wave of Democrat support after her close loss to Kemp in 2018 and became an election denier who refused to say she lost the race.

Palantir, with intimate ties to defense, intelligence and security industries around the world, is set to play an even larger role in the UK’s crisis-ridden National Health System (NHS).

Last summer, as readers may recall, executives at NHS England — the non-departmental government body that runs the National Health Service in England — came up with an ingenious plan to digitally scrape the general practice data of up to 55 million patients and share it with any private third parties willing to pay for it. NHS England allowed patients to opt out of the scheme; they just didn’t bother telling them about it until three weeks before the deadline, presumably because if they had, millions of patients would have opted out.

When the FT finally broke the story, a scandal erupted. NHS England officials responded by shelving the scheme, saying they needed to focus on reaching out to patients and reassuring them their data is safe. But that hasn’t happened. Instead, they have waited for the scandal to die down before embarking on an even more egregious scheme.

This time it is patient data from UK hospitals that is up for grabs. And patients will have no opt-out option. In fact, without even consulting patients, NHS England has instructed NHS Digital — which will soon be merged with NHS England as part of the UK’s governments accelerated reforms to the NHS’ “tech agenda” — to gather patient data from NHS hospitals and extract it to its data platform, which is based on Palantir’s Foundry enterprise data management platform.

We have been discussing how Hillary Clinton and other Democratic leaders have turned from private censorship to good old-fashioned state censorship. They have called upon their counterparts in England, France, and Germany to prevent the restoration of free speech protections with censorship laws — laws that would be unconstitutional in the United States. The British have already responded to such urgent calls and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern who recently repeated this call for global censorship at the United Nations to the applause of diplomats and media alike.

Now the German left has responded with the the ruling Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) calling for censorship before, to use Clinton’s words, “it is too late” and free speech is stored on Twitter.

The Jews are the ones behind the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and their goal is to create a new Jewish state to replace the failing Zionist project of Israel, Palestinian Islamic scholar Mraweh Nassar has claimed, as reported by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

Nassar, whom MEMRI identified as the secretary-general of the Jerusalem Committee of the International Union of Muslims Scholars, made his claims on March 22 while speaking with Channel 9, an Arabic-language TV station in Turkey that the media watchdog says is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Polling is organized lying for the purpose of discouraging voting by those who pose a threat to the people in charge of the polling and who hold or control political office(s). Close to 90% of Americans think we are “on the wrong path”, and are worried about their economic survival. Do you really think there’s even ONE DEMOCRAT that has a chance of being legitimately elected or reelected? Come on… WAKE UP!!! Biden’s approval rating is 9% – yes, you read that correctly 9%. Does it make sense any Democrats would win an election without massive cheating?

Australia will launch a review into the obligations former Defence Force personnel have to protect state secrets, following reports Australians were among Western military pilots who had been approached to help train the Chinese military.

Defence Minister Richard Marles said on Wednesday intelligence agencies and Australian Federal Police were "investigating a number of cases" in Australia, and announced a review into the policies and procedures governing Australian Defence Force personnel.

"For those who do come into possession of our nation's secrets either through service in the Australian Defence Force or service in any other part of the Commonwealth, there is an enduring obligation to maintain those secrets," he told a media conference.

Several explosions on Monday evening rocked a weapons warehouse owned by Yemen's government forces in the country's northeastern oil-rich province of Marib, a security official told Xinhua.

"Massive explosions rocked a weapons warehouse near a densely populated neighborhood in Marib province, igniting fires and forcing the evacuation of several families living in the area," the local security official said on condition of anonymity.

The official accused the Houthi rebels of striking the weapons warehouse that belonged to the third Regional Military Command of the Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces in Marib.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the explosions caused a number of injuries and deaths, he said, without providing the exact number of casualties.

A maintenance procedure used by Air Force mechanics to document inspections likely damaged hundreds of C-130 propeller blades over a decade, according to service officials.

Maintenance technicians examining the propeller blades for cracks or other damage scratched permanent marks on each blade to document the inspection had taken place.

“The process used to engrave serial numbers on the propellers likely contributed to cracks that are being found on the C-130Hs,” Maj. Beau Downey, an Air Force spokesperson, said in an email. “That process, which involved an electric arc pen to incise digits into the surface of the metal, was stopped about six months ago and will not be used going forward. Further analysis will be needed for a full understanding of the root cause of the cracks. Right now our focus is on safely and quickly returning these aircraft to supporting the mission.”

Democratic Senate hopeful John Fetterman defeated Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania, wrapping up one of the most closely watched races of the midterms just before 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. 'We launched this campaign almost two years ago - and we had our slogan - and it's on every one of those signs right now: every count, every vote,' Fetterman said to a rowdy crowd still gathered at Stage AE in Pittsburgh. 'And that's exactly what happened - we jammed them up. We held the line.' 'I never expected that we would turn these red counties blue, but we did what we needed to do,' he continued. 'And that's why tonight I'll be the next U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania,' Fetterman added. NBC News, Fox News and CNN all called the race for the Democrat, after Fetterman led the count all night. The Associated Press has yet to call the race. Fetterman's crowd exploded in cheers as the lieutenant governor's win was predicted by the networks. As he walked onstage, Fetterman admitted surprise - as the count was expected to take several days.

Pfizer’s chief financial officer has described the Covid pandemic as a 'multi-billion dollar franchise' — and expects profit to continue.

David Denton told investors in an earnings call last week his company's vaccine and antiviral would still be 'relevant for many years to come'.

The CFO said he expects the Covid virus to be 'somewhat like a flu... but more deadly' — meaning therapeutics will still have a massive role in controlling the virus.

Webmaster addition: It's all about the Benjamins. Covid is a simple scam.

1. Create and release a disease.

2. Offer to sell the cure.

3. Laugh all the way to the bank!

The rise of outspoken hardliners in the Kremlin is alarming insiders fearful the Russian president will heed their calls for even more confrontation abroad and sweeping repression at home.

Senior business executives and government officials have watched with growing worry as players they once considered marginal like Yevgeny Prigozhin, known for his Wagner mercenary company and recruiting of prison inmates to fight in Ukraine, have become the public forces behind Vladimir Putin’s push to step up his increasingly all-encompassing war effort.

The World Economic Forum’s ‘First Movers Coalition’ climate change agenda was “modelled” off the effort to roll out vaccines during the Chinese coronavirus crisis, John Kerry said at a COP27 panel in Egypt on Tuesday.

Appearing alongside WEF President Børge Brende and various corporate executives, US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry said that it is urgent for the private sector to pair with governments to realise the goal of preventing the global temperature from rising and to save lives in the allegedly looming global climate crisis.

“We have an enormous challenge before us to bring to scale new technologies and to harness the deeply capable capacity of private sector entrepreneurs in order to bring them to the table because without it, no government has enough money… we need everybody behind this,” Kerry said in a speech before the panel.

“The idea behind the launch of the First Movers Coalition is pretty straightforward, we needed to create demand signals in the market where they didn’t exist, which takes boldness, it takes courage from these executives who have made the decision to be a part of this.

Crypto giant FTX's CEO lost $16 billion of his personal fortune as his company faces a liquidity crunch and is bailed out by its rival.

Sam Bankman-Fried, 30, who touted last year that his crypto company would be big enough to buy Goldman Sachs, will see his fortune drop to $1 billion after receiving a bailout from rival Changpeng Zhao's Binance, Bloomberg reports.

The 94 percent loss is the biggest one-day collapse ever among billionaires.

Wall Street executives and and other billionaires have pumped more than $200 million into this year's midterm elections, as influential megadonors continue to become a major percentage of all overall contributions.

Many of the top donors this cycle are the same people who have topped political contribution lists in years past, like Democrat megadonor George Soros who donated $128 million this year — most of it earmarked for the future.

But there are a few new names on the list, like embattled cryptocurrency billionaire Sam Bankman-Fried, who has emerged as a major Democrat donor, and his FTX co-CEO Ryan Samale who backs Republicans.
