"The government lied about a Spanish mine in Havana harbor, They lied about the Lusitania not smuggling weapons to Great Britain. They lied about the JFK assassination. They lied about torpedoes in the Gulf of Tonkin. They lied about Saddam’s WMDs. They lied about Assad gassing his own people. They lied about 9-11. They lied about Covid. They lied about honest elections. They lie about everything!

TXSE Group, backed by BlackRock and Citadel Securities, plans to launch Texas Stock Exchange in Dallas, going up against established New York-centric exchanges in a bid to attract global companies.

The exchange, which has raised about $120 million, plans to file registration documents with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to start operating as a national securities exchange later this year, TXSE said on Wednesday.

Claire's Observations:  The timing of this announcement is very interesting; one has to wonder what the founders here are betting against, or betting for, with this new exchange.

In a surprising twist, the federal gun charges trial of Hunter Biden has taken an unconventional turn, with prosecutors employing a tactic that has drawn praise from legal experts. Former federal prosecutor Jay Town appeared on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Wednesday, commending special counsel David Weiss for his team’s ingenious use of Hunter Biden’s autobiography as evidence against him.

“It was a stroke of genius,” Town remarked, referring to the prosecution’s decision to introduce excerpts from Biden’s memoir, where he admitted to drug addiction and illegal substance use. But they didn’t stop there – the prosecution also played audio clips of Biden narrating those very admissions from the book’s audiobook version.

“I’ve never prosecuted a defendant where they actually wrote a book about their criminal behavior,” Town stated, emphasizing the overwhelming nature of the evidence presented so far.

A new survey reveals that over two-thirds of small business owners are terrified of the state of the economy under Joe Biden’s watch, fearing that current conditions and ongoing downward trends will lead to them having to close their businesses.

As reported by the Daily Caller, the poll from the Job Creators Network Foundation (JCNF) shows that 67% of small business owners maintain such fears about the economy as it stands today, marking a 10-point increase from sentiments two years ago. In the same poll, participants’ perceptions of economic conditions for their own businesses fell from 70.2 to 68.1. Perception of national conditions fell even more drastically, from 53.2 to 50.4.

In addition to the ongoing economic woes, small business owners also feel overwhelmingly impacted by the rise of crime. In the same survey, 44% of business owners say that crime has gone up in their area. The respondents who were most likely to say crime has increased in their area are the business owners generating less than $100,000 per year, at 55%. Those who generate over $1 million in revenue were less likely to say crime has increased.

Inflation also remains a top concern for business owners, with 49% ranking inflation as the top issue in May, compared to 48% in March. Overall inflation remains stubbornly high, coming in at 3.4% in April. The inflation rate has consistently remained above 3% since Joe Biden first took office.

“Small businesses are more vulnerable to high taxes and costly regulatory environments compared to their large corporate counterparts,” said Elaine Parker, president of the JCNF.

“That’s why it’s no surprise that 26% of small businesses say they’ve considered relocating to a different state or city to chase more favorable tax rates and escape government red tape. This is an opportunity for free-market minded governors to continue making their states stand out from the crowd by implementing pro-growth policy reforms that will ignite Main Street.”

President Joe Biden, 81, continued to show his advanced age while in France for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings during World War II, a stark reminder given that Biden had already been born when the historic operation was conducted.

As has become common during public appearances, Biden walked slowly alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, appeared to be unsure where to go and stand, and was led by first lady Jill Biden away from the ceremony while Macron stayed behind to shake hands with D-Day veterans.

Biden also used his speech to talk about how many Russians have been killed during the recent war in Ukraine.

As I watch the evolution of consumer spending, housing starts, new home sales, and GDPNow trends, it appears the economy has peaked. Warning: I tend to be early.

GDPNow forecast from the Atlanta Fed as of 2024-06-03. Chart by Mish

The GDPNow forecast has been weakening since a peak of 4.2 percent on May 8, 2024.

The best number to follow is not the overall forecast but rather Real Final Sales (RFS). The rest is inventory adjustment that nets to zero over time.

A steep plunge occurred in the base forecast from 3.5 to 2.7 then to 1.8 on May 1 and June 3. Importantly, RFS fell from 2.9 to 2.1 to 1.8 on the same dates.

Bill Barr served Donald Trump as the U.S. Attorney General. He was a tough prosecutor who was especially hard on communist China. But after leaving office, he and Trump had a falling out. He refused to agree with Trump on the 2020 Election results.

And the two haven’t seen eye-to-eye ever since. Despite that, Barr continues to provide a voice of reason in an increasingly chaotic legal system.

He recently commented on the shocking guilty verdict rendered against Trump in New York. Barr is no friend of Trump’s, but he had always maintained that the trial was a sham. Now, he is making a big prediction.

From Daily Wire:
Former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr said this week that he believes the conviction in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office’s criminal case against former President Donald Trump is likely to be “overturned” because there was “no crime” committed.

“I said from the very start that this was an abomination,” Barr said during an interview…

“This case is going to be overruled because there are just multiple errors and violations of constitutional rights,” he said.

Recently, a Wall Street Journal article came out, further exposing Biden’s cognitive decline. The article revealed that many lawmakers are worried about the president’s mental health. They claim he struggles during closed-door meetings.

This only confirms what millions of Americans have been saying for years. Many believe Biden suffers from a severe problem and is unfit for office.

Rep. Ronny Jackson was the White House physician for Barack Obama and Donald Trump. He has long spoken out about his concerns for Joe Biden. Now, with this new report coming out, he has amped up his rhetoric. And he’s warning the entire country.

From Daily Wire:
The former White House physician for Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump says that a new report this week about how President Joe Biden is struggling to function behind closed doors represents a serious threat to the U.S.

“The article’s just documenting what I’ve been saying all along: he’s not fit to be the commander in chief,” Jackson said. “He’s got significant issues, he shouldn’t have the job. You know, it’s a national security issue for us.”

If we accept the fundamental truth that Ukraine is nothing more than a proxy battleground between Russia and the west, then you might say WWIII has already begun. The powers-that-be have been content to keep the situation contained primarily to Ukraine so far, but a recent event suggests things are about to change. There’s something very strange happening on the nuclear front between NATO and Russia and I believe it might be time to consider the possibility that a false flag threat is in the works.

In the past two weeks Ukraine has taken credit for at least two separate strikes on peculiar targets – Russian “over the horizon” radar stations using drones with an impressive flight range of at least 1200 miles. Until this point, long range attacks into Russian territory have been exceedingly rare. So, why these specifics radar stations?

The Voronezh-DM stations were positioned outside the city of Orsk and the region of Krasnodar (Armavir); far away from the front lines in Ukraine. The strikes are being hailed as the furthest Ukraine has attacked into the heart of Russia, but the corporate media has ignored the wider implications of the situation.

It is likely that the drones used were of US or European origin. NATO has (until the past couple of days) enforced tight restrictions on how their weapons can be used by Ukraine. Long range drones and cruise missiles hitting targets deep in Russia invites major blowback, including the threat of a nuclear response.

That said, it’s not so much the weapons used that concerns me, it’s the specific targets that Ukraine supposedly chose.

Russia’s over-the-horizon radar systems have a detection range of at least 6000 miles (the real range is classified) and scan specifically for high altitude ballistic missiles. They are not designed to detect lower flying medium range cruise missiles (ATACMS) and drones. Meaning, the two stations destroyed by Ukrainian weapons are meant to act as an early warning system for nuclear attack.

The Ukrainians supposedly defied NATO restrictions, not once, but twice, to target radar systems that have nothing to do with them. In fact, the arrays sit in permanently fixed positions and neither array was actually aimed at Ukraine, they were aimed to the North and Southwest of Russia. The Armavir radar was constructed in 2009 to close a gap created by the loss of radars in Ukraine, and was also meant to replace an older Daryal radar in Gabala. Interestingly, Armavir and Orsk “search fans” watch the skies primarily above the Middle East, including Israel, and a large chunk of Europe including Switzerland.

Instead of attacking vital strategic resources like oil refineries or ammo depots, Russia’s nuclear defenses are being systematically hobbled. Why?

It’s important to understand that a strike of this kind deep into the center of Russia requires complex planning and logistics. It cannot be achieved without covert intel on the ground as well as aid from satellite surveillance. Ukraine relies completely on NATO satellites and intel; no such strike would ever be possible without NATO involvement. Furthermore, the drones used would need to have the ability to evade early detection systems and remain hidden for thousands of miles. This kind of technology comes mainly from the west.

In other words, there’s no way that these attacks were accomplished by Ukraine without extensive help and approval from the US or European command. I question the notion that a Ukrainian pilot was even remotely flying the drones. We’re talking about some of the most closely defended radar stations in the whole of Russia.

There is something of a subculture on YouTube of armchair analysts and commentators, WDW Pro, Valliant Renegade, and ClownfishTV, to name just three (beyond traditional financial websites like CNBC and Seeking Alpha), who track every cultural, corporate, programming, and financial move of The Walt Disney Company, previously one of America’s most iconic and trusted companies.

Note: I used the past tense in describing The Walt Disney Company.

It is no longer one of America’s most trusted brands, and it’s about to lose its iconic status.

How did this happen?

On May 7, 2024, in the wake of its successful battle to keep activist investor Nelson Peltz off its Board of Directors back in April (after which Peltz liquidated his Disney holdings, walking away with more than $1 billion), Disney CEO Bob Iger held Disney’s quarterly earnings call, during which its stock tanked almost 10%, losing $20 billion in its market cap. While it has recovered a bit, to $105 a share, it’s well below its 52-week high, $123.72, and off its all-time highest closing price of $201.91 on March 8, 2021. Those investors who abandoned Peltz in his proxy battle for two seats on the Disney Board of Directors can now lick their financial wounds.

There is speculation in the financial community that if Disney stock again falls below $90 a share, Peltz could mount a third bid for two or more seats on the Disney board or possibly oust Iger. It’s hilarious to watch the New York Times put its spin on the battle, saying Peltz lost his battle with Iger. Actually, Peltz and his Trian Partners investment group walked away with $1 billion. Yes, Peltz lost the battle, but he won the war.

isney is one of America’s wokest companies. It sees itself as being out in front on cultural and social issues, especially where Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are concerned. This has been a huge issue in America’s—especially American parents’—loss of trust in the House of Mouse. You can’t watch this clip from Disney programming Vice President Latoya Raveneau bragging about how she pushed LGBTQ messages anywhere she could into Disney’s programming without parents seeing that agenda. Because of this agenda, Disney parks, Disney feature films, Disney animation, and especially the Disney Channel have lost trust with many parents.

Disney has lost its decades-long leadership in animation to NBCUniversal’s Dreamworks Animation studio. Its slate of feature films—with their bloated $250,000,000 production budgets requiring a $500,000,000 theatrical run to just break even—has been an unmitigated disaster. Along the way, it has destroyed two of the successful film franchises it acquired during Iger’s first term as CEO: Star Wars and Indiana Jones. And its long-delayed live-action remake of its own 1937 Snow White classic animated film is mired in its own disaster, mostly due to woke comments from its star, Rachel Ziegler. It was moved back a year from a March 2024 release to 2025. But could its theatrical release be scrapped entirely and go directly to the Disney+ streaming service?

Related to its film franchises, which also include Marvel and Pixar (which just laid off 175 employees), was the company’s $250,000,000 misadventure, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, a $6,000 two-night Star Wars-themed hotel experience that opened on March 1, 2022, and closed on September 30, 2023. It was forced to take a charge against earnings for this catastrophe. This disaster was documented in a four-hour viral video by YouTuber Jenny Nicholson that has received an incredible seven million views in a little more than two weeks. (That was 10 times the number of views CNN’s coverage of the debacle received.

Disney is no longer American parents’ babysitter. Here’s one parent’s open letter to Disney.

"I say all this as a baby boomer who grew up with Disney in the 1950s and 1960s (that will give you an idea of how old I am). Disney’s current values are no longer those of its namesake founder, Walt Disney. Parents, especially those in the center and on the right, that are trying to raise their kids with the traditional values that made America great in the last century, no longer trust the House of Mouse. And until there is housecleaning, starting at the top of the C-suite, Disney will not be trusted again."

All 193 United Nations member states have signed a new treaty on intellectual property rights involving genetic resources. The law is designed to stop instances of biopiracy. Biopiracy is when an individual or firm tries to patent the ancestral knowledge of indigenous people, usually from the global south. There are numerous examples of the west patenting ways to process medicinal herbs or crops or animals, which were developed by communities in the global south centuries ago. The west tried to patent and exploit traditional ways to use turmeric, neem, the hoodia cactus, quinoa and countless other products. The new anti-biopiracy treaty mandates that all patents give credit to any traditional techniques that were used as inspiration.

Authored by Andrew Korybko via Substack,

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas is considered one of the most hawkish anti-Russian figures in the West, yet it was none other than her who just redefined this bloc’s terms for victory in Ukraine. She recently told the BBC that “Victory in Ukraine is not just about territory. If Ukraine joins Nato, even without some territory, then that’s a victory because it will be placed under the Nato umbrella." This is a far cry from restoring Ukraine’s pre-2014 borders like the West hitherto claimed is its goal.

Here are several background briefings concerning the lead-up to what she just said:

* 24 May: “The US Is Now More Openly Allowing Ukraine To Use Its Arms To Strike Inside Of Russia

* 25 May: “Russia Is Open To Compromise But Won’t Agree To A Ceasefire That Doesn’t Meet Its Interests

* 26 May: “The US Is Playing A Dangerous Game Of Nuclear Chicken With Russia

* 30 May: “Putin Expects NATO, And Possibly Poland In Particular, To Escalate The Proxy War In Ukraine

* 31 May: “Is Ukraine Going Rogue Or Did It Attack Russia’s Early Warning Systems With American Approval?

They’ll now be summarized for the reader’s convenience.

Basically, the West fears Russia achieving a military breakthrough across the front lines (particularly around Kharkov Region), so it’s now more openly allowing Ukraine to use their arms to strike targets inside its neighbor’s universally recognized territory. Poland is also flirting with shooting down Russian missiles over Western Ukraine and commencing a conventional intervention there too. All the while, Ukraine started attacking Russia’s early nuclear warning systems, which is unprecedentedly dangerous.

The NATO-Russian proxy war in Ukraine is therefore poised to intensify, though the West’s intent appears to be to “escalate to de-escalate” in order to then freeze the conflict afterwards on comparatively better terms for their side, provided of course that the escalation remains manageable. The upcoming Swiss “peace talks” are doomed to fail, but a parallel joint Sino-Brazilian peace process might arise in their wake as explained here and culminate in a grand diplomatic gathering during November’s G20 in Rio.

Kallas’ latest comment should be interpreted in this context as signaling an interest in compromising via the Korean-like armistice scenario that was prominently floated by former NATO Supreme Commander Admiral James Stavridis in November in his op-ed about this for Bloomberg. Ukraine’s bilateral “security guarantees” with NATO members, especially the ones that it’s negotiating with the US and Poland, could be spun as de facto membership that importantly doesn’t cross Russia’s red line of formal membership.

Claire's Observations:  What if the ultimate outcome of such a plan, through this "escalation" becomes "unmanageable", and spins out of control?!?  What then?!?  And will Zelinsky "settle" for this, or does the West and NATO have someone in the wings to replace him, if he continues to be "inconvenient" for a negotiated peace?!?

I still need to understand what in heaven's name Zelinsky has on Biden,  Congress, et al, for the guns bombs and bullets which keep flowing his way, which is still an absolute puzzle for me.  Even a near lethal dose of "hopium/changium" by both By-di-Bye and his minions, could not possibly conjure an outcome where Russia does not win this by attrition.  What the hell were these alleged "planners" thinking, and why?!?

People in Gaza, including children, are dying due to hunger-related causes, regardless of whether famine thresholds have been hit or not, a new food security report has found.

The report, issued by an independent group of experts known as the Famine Early Warning Systems Network, or Fews Net, warned that it is possible Gaza has suffered famine since April, and this assessment is likely to continue until July at least, “if there is not a fundamental change in how food assistance is distributed and accessed” after it enters the Strip.

Meanwhile, Israel continues to block the Rafah crossing with Egypt and restrict aid entry via the Karem Shalom crossing with southern Gaza.

“The population’s access to and utilization of available food assistance has been insufficient to meet the level of need to date, and much more must be done immediately to ensure humanitarian food assistance is distributed effectively once it enters Gaza,” the report reads.

A social media post made by Hillary Clinton to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day has been branded as 'sick and disgusting'.

The Democrat, who ran against Donald Trump for the presidency in 2016, compared the fight against Nazi Germany to voting against Trump in November.

The former Secretary of State said in her post: ‘Eighty years ago today, thousands of brave Americans fought to protect democracy on the shores of Normandy.

‘This November, all we have to do is vote’, she said in the post to her X account, which has been widely criticized.

President Biden celebrated the deaths of Russian soldiers in Ukraine during a speech in Normandy, France, commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

“They’ve suffered tremendous losses, Russia. The numbers are staggering — 350,000 Russian troops dead or wounded. Nearly 1 million people have left Russia because they can no longer see a future in Russia,” Biden said.

The real number of dead or wounded troops in the Ukraine war is unclear since neither side shares information about casualties. But it’s likely Ukraine has suffered more casualties since the conflict is largely an artillery war, and Ukrainian forces have been significantly outgunned.

Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini criticised French President Emmanuel Macron for pushing the idea of sending European troops to fight in the conflict in Ukraine. Salvini’s comments were made on the same day that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov once again warned that French soldiers operating in Ukraine would be legitimate targets.

“Italy is not at war with anyone. Macron, do you want to start a war? Put on a helmet, put on a vest and go to Ukraine, but don’t bother the Italians! Go and fight, but don’t bother us, people who want to live in peace,” Salvini said during a pre-election rally in the southern Italian city of Bari on June 4.

The deputy prime minister stressed that the Italians have a “clear choice” and that “no Italian bomb or bullet will hit Russia.”

Salvini also humorously slammed the French president by publishing a photo montage of him in combat uniform and armed with an assault rifle, accusing him of wanting to plunge Europe into a war with Russia.

“A military escalation and Italian soldiers on the front line under the orders of dangerous ‘bombers’? No thanks,” the nationalist leader, whose party, the LEGA, is part of Italy’s government coalition led by Giorgia Meloni, wrote on his X account.
