An armed homeowner in Bloomington, Indiana, quickly discovered that firing a shot into the ground wasn't going to scare off an intruder moving toward him at his residence Sunday afternoon — but a second shot finally did convince the crook that he was out of his depth.
Elon Musk issued an email telling Twitter employees that they must be "extremely hardcore" by putting in "long hours at high intensity" for the platform to succeed — the billionaire business tycoon gave workers a deadline of 5 p.m. Thursday to visit a link and indicate that they wish to remain at the company, warning that those who fail to do so "will receive three months of severance."
Former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried remarked that he grew “overconfident and careless” ahead of the sudden implosion of his cryptocurrency empire, yet made little direct mention of his own fraudulent behavior as he discussed the implosion of his empire.
In 1986, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) successfully pushed for amnesty for millions of illegal aliens, promising that doing so would help slow the tide of illegal immigration and support America’s dwindling workforce. It failed.

Actor John Voight says that Donald Trump is the only one who can save this country from the "swamp," He prays that Trump will return to run for President in 2024.
He says that the former President is the only one who can legitimately be said to have the power to turn things like this around.
Voight is an Academy Award-winning actor, and he posted a quick 2-minute clip in which he stated that he felt that Trump was the only one that could help the country from the state of things the way they are now.
His "Wake Up America" clip calls for the country's healing. He says that this is something the country needs after the underwhelming performance of Republicans in the midterm elections this year.
While polls projected a major red wave for the recent midterms, the vote showed different results. Democrats managed to maintain narrow control over the Senate, while the lower chamber majority is projected to go to Republicans - but only by a small margin.
Sputnik discussed the intricate details of the past midterm elections with Patrick Basham, head of Democracy Institute, a politically independent research organization based in Washington and London.
Sputnik: US bipartisan observers suggest that the expected "red wave" has not materialized. Would you agree that the Republicans "underperformed"?
Patrick Basham: In terms of voting, the red wave materialized exactly as we predicted. Our final Democracy Institute/Express.co.uk poll forecast the Republicans would win the popular vote by five percent. The Election Day exit poll also found a five percent win by the Republicans. With ballots still being counted in several western states, the Republicans popular vote lead is fluctuating between four and five percent.
Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki is trying her best to deflect away from the advanced age of President Biden.
Many are concerned about his age and mental capacity at this stage. However, Psaki tried to counter that by calling Donald Trump old. For the record, Donald Trump is a few years younger than Joe Biden.
Biden is already the oldest President in American history and will be 82 years old on Inauguration Day 2025. Biden continues to insist that he intends to run for re-election despite the concerns of many people within his party.
Atomic Weapons Were Not Needed to End the War or Save Lives
Like all Americans, I was taught that the U.S. dropped nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in order to end WWII and save both American and Japanese lives.
But most of the top American military officials at the time said otherwise.
The U.S. Strategic Bombing Survey group, assigned by President Truman to study the air attacks on Japan, produced a report in July of 1946 that concluded (52-56):
Based on a detailed investigation of all the facts and supported by the testimony of the surviving Japanese leaders involved, it is the Survey’s opinion that certainly prior to 31 December 1945 and in all probability prior to 1 November 1945, Japan would have surrendered even if the atomic bombs had not been dropped, even if Russia had not entered the war, and even if no invasion had been planned or contemplated.
Former US President Donald Trump’s son Donald Trump Junior has called for cutting off funding for Ukraine in the wake of the Polish missile incident.
"Since it was Ukraine's missile that hit our NATO ally Poland, can we at least stop spending billions to arm them now?" he wrote on Twitter.
On Tuesday, a missile fell in the village of Przewodow in eastern Poland on the border with Ukraine, killing two people. According to Polish President Andrzej Duda, it wasn’t a deliberate attack on the country. Warsaw explained that it most probably had been an S-300-like missile made in the 1970s, which had been fired by Ukrainian air defense forces. The Russian Defense Ministry branded claims by Polish media outlets and officials of alleged Russian missiles falling on Polish soil as provocations since no Russian strikes had taken place near the Ukrainian-Polish border. The ministry pointed out that the photos of the debris from the incident site published by the Polish media had nothing to do with Russian weapons.

"The drone was shot down by an on-duty border guard squad from a Kalashnikov automatic rifle. The quadcopter was outfitted with a video camera and was used for conducting reconnaissance and surveying technical border protection facilities on the territory of Belarus," the press office said.
