"The executive power in our government is not the only, perhaps not even the principal, object of my solicitude. The tyranny of the legislature is really the danger most to be feared, and will continue to be so for many years to come. The tyranny of the executive power will come in its turn, but at a more distant period." -- Thomas Jefferson, Democracy in America

China is expanding its nuclear arsenal faster than any other major superpower, and is in command of 500, a top European think tank has warned.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute wrote in a report published on Monday that Xi Xinping has increased his nation's nuclear stockpile from 410 to 500 in a single year.

The increase in nuclear weapons meant 'China is expanding its nuclear arsenal faster than any other country' in absolute terms, WMD expert Hans M Kristensen told Insider.

North Korea has also increasing its arsenal, going from 30 to 50 warheads in a single year, accounting for a 40% increase.

Webmaster addition: Below there is an article stating that the US accounts for 80% of the increase in spending on nuclear weapons!

Worldwide spending on nuclear weapons rose by $10.8 billion between 2022 and 2023 with 80% of the increase coming from the United States, according to a new report released on Monday by the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN).

The $10.8 billion increase brings annual global spending on nuclear weapons up to $91.4 billion. From 2019 to 2023, $387 billion has been spent on nuclear weapons.

“By comparison, the World Food Programme Executive Director stated in 2021 that to end world hunger, countries could spend $40 billion per year through 2030, which is a total of $360 billion over nine years,” said the report, “Surge: 2023 Global Nuclear Weapons Spending.” ICAN notes that sum is $27 billion less than what the U.S., China, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, India, Israel, North Korea and Pakistan spent on their nuclear arsenals in just five years.

In a study published last month, researchers looked at samples from 20 formulas made by well-known American and international brands and found that six out of 20 formulas tested positive for five types of toxic heavy metals, including lead and aluminium. Even more alarming is that infant formula has tested positive for Cronobacter. In May 2024, the FDA sounded the alarm on the Crecelac Infant Powdered Goat Milk Infant Formula, after tests revealed it was contaminated with Cronobacter, which can lead to life-threatening infections like sepsis and meningitis.

Covid posed no risk to children. To coerce children into getting vaccinated fear campaigns told them they should get vaccinated so they “didn’t kill granny.” Because of the risk of myocarditis, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation advised against covid injections being given to healthy children under the age of 18. However, Chris Whitty intervened and requested they review their decision. Presumably succumbing to political pressure, a few months later the Committee handed over the decision to the Chief Medical Officers. It was the Chief Medical Officers of the four nations who decided to vaccinate children.

In particular, the programme is aimed at those who are deaf, disabled or neurodivergent. However, instead of the job description reading “identify as deaf”, it instead said: “to apply, you should identify as dead, disabled or neurodivergent”.

Experts claim the daily use of Listerine, particularly the Cool Mint flavor, could increase the risk of two deadly cancers. They advise against its everyday use. A recent study revealed that daily gargling with Listerine Cool Mint significantly increased the levels of two types of bacteria in the mouth, both of which have been linked to esophageal and colorectal cancer. The study, conducted by scientists from the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, Belgium, found that the alcohol in the mouthwash disrupts the normal bacterial balance in the mouth.

New York’s highest court has declined to hear Donald Trump’s appeal on the gag order in his hush money case, according to a decision list posted Tuesday.

The gag order, issued by Judge Juan Merchan in the criminal case against Trump, remains in effect.

Separately, Trump has asked Merchan to terminate the gag order ahead of his sentencing scheduled for July. The former president was convicted of 34 counts of business fraud relating to hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Trump’s lawyers did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In March, just before the trial started, Merchan granted prosecutors’ request for a gag order that precluded Trump from making public statements about any witnesses in the case, jurors, prosecutors, court staff, or members of their family. Trump was not restricted from commenting on the judge or Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

A Ukrainian reporter who revealed that a state news agency tried to bar interviews with opposition politicians said he received a draft notification the next day.

Ukraine’s domestic spy agency spied on staff members of an investigative news outlet through peepholes in their hotel rooms.

The public broadcaster has decried what it says is political pressure on its reporting.

Journalists and groups monitoring press freedoms are raising alarms over what they say are increasing restrictions and pressures on the media in Ukraine under the government of President Volodymyr Zelensky that go well beyond the country’s wartime needs.

Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., is demanding answers about why the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana declined to prosecute a man who was threatening him and his family, instead leaving the case up to a local district attorney.

Banks, in a letter written late last year to Attorney General Merrick Garland, asked why the federal attorney, who would normally prosecute threats to members of Congress, did not pursue the case, ABC News, which obtained a copy of the letter, reported Tuesday.

The man, Aaron Thompson of Fort Wayne, eventually was sentenced to two years of probation. Banks said that the FBI visited the suspect's house, where he "admitted he had threatened me and my family with violence because he disagreed with my political beliefs."
