"If you want the victims of gun crime to be able to sue the gun makers for damages, then let us also allow the victims of drunk driving accidents to sue the car makers and distilleries as well. While we are at it, revoke the special protection granted to vaccine makers that was passed as part of the Homeland Security Act so that people who are actually harmed by poorly made vaccines can sue the pharmaceutical companies. And, given that at least 90% of these mass shootings were committed by people either on or withdrawing from prescription anti-depressants, the victims of those shootings should be allowed to sue the pharmaceutical companies as well. Let's sue the makers of kitchen cutlery for every stabbing death. Let's sue the makers of sporting equipment for every victim beaten to death with a baseball bat, and tool companies for making the hammers used on bludgeoning deaths as well. The family of everyone who dies by electrocution should be allowed to sue the electric company. The family of everyone who dies in a fall should be allowed to sue the makers of ladders and staircases. The family of everyone who commits suicide by hanging should be allowed to sue the rope companies. " -- Michael Rivero

Mike Davis, founder of the Article III Project, joined Steve Bannon on The War Room following the Fani Willis spectacle today broadcast on live TV from Fulton County.

It must have been a very long day for the Trump-hating fake news media.

Mike Davis told Steve Bannon that what he witnessed today was “the worst testimony I think I’ve ever seen.”

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Kuwait’s emir on Thursday dissolved parliament after a lawmaker reportedly insulted the ruler, the latest dissolution to strike the oil-rich nation’s legislature amid years of political gridlock.

The state-run KUNA news agency announced the decree from the country’s ruling emir, Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Jaber. It blamed “offensive and uncontrolled” utterances by lawmakers for the decision, without elaborating.

On Wednesday, the Cabinet reportedly refused to attend parliament after lawmakers refused to delete remarks by one of their colleagues that purportedly insulted Sheikh Meshal. Kuwaiti law prohibits any criticism of the emir.

Domestic political disputes have been gripping Kuwait for years — including the overhaul of Kuwait’s welfare system — which prevented the sheikhdom from taking on debt. That’s left it with little in its coffers to pay bloated public sector salaries, despite generating immense wealth from its oil reserves.

Parliament has been repeatedly dissolved after failing to move forward, with Kuwait’s Constitutional Court in 2023 annulling a 2022 decree overturning another such annulment. The country’s late emir then annulled that parliament again and held an election for a new parliament, which now has been annulled with Thursday’s decision.

Kuwait, a nation home to some 4.2 million people that’s slightly smaller than the U.S. state of New Jersey, has the world’s sixth-largest known oil reserves.

Barghouti has remained influential among Palestinian politics and has been suggested as a potential successor to current president 88-year-old Mahmoud Abbas [Getty]]

Palestinian leader and high profile prisoner Marwan Barghouti has been transferred to solitary confinement by Israel on Wednesday over fears he is coordinating an uprising in the occupied West Bank.

Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stated Barghouti was moved from Ofer prison to solitary confinement following information about a planned uprising.

This is not the first instance of Israel rushing to transfer Fatah leader Barghouti amid soaring tensions in the occupied West Bank following near daily raids and arrests by Israeli forces in towns and cities.

Early Thursday, the Israeli military stormed Tulkarm, Beitunia, Shu'fat refugee camp, and Nablus. On Wednesday, Israeli forces in the town of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron, shot and killed a young man and injured ten others with live bullets and tear gas, as reported by The New Arab’s sister paper, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed

In recent weeks, Barghouti has returned to the fore amid speculation that the popular and enigmatic leader could be one of the prisoners released under the ongoing Hamas-Israel truce talks.

Claire's Observations: Putting Barghouti in solitary confinement, makes it much easier to mask a successful assassination as an urgent "medical crisis, gone mammary glands vertical ", should they choose to do this.

But I would like to politely suggest to the Middle East's Assassination Nation,. that the murder of Barghouti, is going to exacerbate the situation, not only with Hamas and Hezbollah, but with every Muslim Middle East nation surrounding them, and THEN some.

And one question which SHOULD be keeping the Israeli military  and civilian leadership awake at night is this; What happens when Russia and China make a decision to enter the fray in behalf of the Palestinians and Iranians?!?

Radical Illinois State Rep. Anne Stava-Murray (D-Naperville) has proposed House Bill 4876 to amend current legislation, the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act, to say an “abused child” is one whose parents deny abortion services, or “gender-affirming services.”

The definition of an abused child under the proposed bill is “a child whose parent or immediate family member, or any person responsible for the child’s welfare, or any individual residing in the same home as the child, or a paramour of the child’s parent denies the child access to necessary medical care, including, but not limited to, primary care services, abortion services, or gender-affirming services.”

Major energy companies awarded licences by Israel to explore for gas off Gaza's coast have been warned that they could face legal action for possible breaches of Palestinian maritime sovereignty and war pillaging.

Israel's Ministry of Energy granted exploration rights to three companies - Italian energy giant Eni, UK-based Dana Energy and Israel's Ratio Petroleum - three weeks after the war on Gaza began in October.

Lawyers working on behalf of three Palestinian NGOs - Al Haq, the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights and Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights - notified the companies in letters this month that they would use "all legal mechanisms to the fullest extent" if they proceeded and called on them to desist from any activities relating to the licences.

The organisations contend that over half of the zone for which the companies were awarded licences lies within Palestine's maritime boundaries.

Those boundaries were declared in 2015 when the Palestinians acceded to the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the international agreement providing the legal framework for all marine and maritime activities.

Claire's Observations: Corporations hate fines and penalties; but I have to wonder, if this case is found against them, what legal entities will actually enforce the verdict financially?!?

On Thursday afternoon, Fani Willis, the Fulton County District Attorney leading the high-profile case against Donald Trump and his associates, lost her composure and screamed in the courtroom. The outburst was a dramatic response to accusations made against her, forcing the judge to halt the proceedings momentarily.

The hearing, which has been under the national spotlight due to its significant implications for the 2024 presidential election, took a contentious turn as defense attorneys pointed to a potential conflict of interest.

The controversy centers on a previously undisclosed romantic relationship between Willis and Nathan Wade, a key prosecutor working on the case. The situation reached a boiling point when Willis, evidently frustrated by the line of questioning, raised her voice to denounce the allegations as false.

China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, on 13 February, gave a formal condemnation of the Israeli attacks against Palestinian civilians in Rafah and called on Tel Aviv to halt its military operations.

“China is closely watching the developments in Rafah,” the spokesperson read. “We oppose and condemn acts against civilians and international law. We call on Israel to stop military operations as soon as possible, do everything possible to avoid casualties among innocent civilians, and prevent a more devastating humanitarian disaster in Rafah.”

Israel is planning to carry out a ground operation in Rafah where over 1 million Palestinians have been internally displaced, with thousands seeking shelter in public squares and make-shift tents.

On Monday, Israel launched a series of over 40 airstrikes on Rafah that killed over 100 people and injured hundreds more. The onslaught, carried out by the Israeli air force, navy, and other artillery, inflicted devastation on displaced Palestinians in the region.

Claire's Observations:  It will be interesting to see what China actually is willing to do, other than the pro-forma "virtue signaling"  to get the Assassination Nation to stop its genocide in Gaza.

As reported from a Google search this morning, "Overview In December 2023, China exported $840M and imported $694M from Israel, resulting in a positive trade balance of $146M. Between December 2022 and December 2023 the exports of China have decreased by $-480M (-36.4%) from $1.32B to $840M, while imports increased by $142M (25.8%) from $551M to $694M."

One has to wonder, looking at these figures, what China is really prepared to do, to get Israel to stop the genocide in Gaza; , after looking at these numbers,  I would almost be willing to bet,  absolutely nothing.

Former President Trump says the charges against him in Fulton County, Georgia, "have to be dropped," telling Fox News Digital that the case is a "scam" while District Attorney Fani Willis testified publicly about an allegedly "improper" affair she had with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

Willis took the stand in Georgia on Thursday to defend her relationship with Wade, whom she hired in 2021 to help prosecute the former president in a sweeping racketeering case related to the 2020 election.

Trump co-defendant Michael Roman alleged in court filings last month that Willis should be disqualified from the case, claiming that she financially benefited from hiring Wade because of their personal relationship.

Both Willis and Wade confirmed their relationship under oath in court Thursday, but testified that the romantic involvement began in early 2022 after Wade's contract in the Trump case began.

JPMorgan Chase and institutional investors BlackRock and State Street Global Advisors announced Thursday that they are quitting or, in the case of BlackRock, substantially scaling back involvement in a massive United Nations climate alliance formed to combat global warming through corporate sustainability agreements.

In a statement, the New York-based Jamie Dimon’s JPMorgan explained that it would exit the so-called Climate Action 100+ investor group because of the expansion of its in-house sustainability team and the establishment of its climate risk framework in recent years.

Larry Fink’s BlackRock and State Street, which both manage trillions of dollars in assets, said the alliance’s climate initiatives had gone too far, expressing concern about potential legal issues as well.

The KIPP Academy girls basketball game on February 8 against the Collegiate Charter School of Lowell ended at halftime. The question is, why?

Collegiate Charter left after 16 minutes of play with KIPP leading, 31-14. The game goes into the books as a 10-0 forfeit win for KIPP.

According to multiple sources, KIPP has a male player on its girls basketball roster, despite the school offering a boys program. The player is reported to be more than 6 feet tall with facial hair.

KIPP officials refused to confirm the player’s gender identification. If the player identifies as female, participation on the girls team would seem to be supported by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association, the governing body for high school athletics in the Commonwealth.

According to the MIAA Handbook, Section 43.3.1: “A student shall not be excluded from participation on a gender-specific sports team that is consistent with the student’s bona fide gender identity.”

The MIAA does make it clear, however, that this rule is not to be enacted for the purpose of gaining a competitive advantage, as noted in the MIAA Handbook, Section 43.3.2:

On Wednesday, the House passed a bill that prohibits the US from opening diplomatic relations with the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad and expands harsh sanctions on Syria to prevent other countries from normalizing with Syria.

The Assad Regime Anti-Normalization Act passed in a vote of 389-32, demonstrating broad bipartisan support for the economic war against Syria. Only 28 Democrats and four Republicans voted against the bill. The legislation now heads to the Senate.

The bill was introduced as a reaction to Arab countries repairing relations with the Assad government and Syria being brought back into the Arab league. Hawks in the US are opposed to Syria’s regional integration and are hoping they can prevent it using sanctions under the Caesar Act.

On February 8, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was in Washington on an official visit, aimed at working jointly with the United States to make “sure that Israel has what it needs to defend itself”.

If such a statement was made soon after the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation of October 7, one may cognize its logic, based on the well-known, inherent bias of both Washington and Berlin towards Israel.

The statement and the visit, however, were conducted on the 125th day of one of the bloodiest genocides in modern history.

The purpose of the visit was highlighted in a press conference by White House spokesperson John Kirby, even though, hours later, US President Joe Biden admitted that Israel has gone “over the top” in its response to the Hamas attack on October 7.

Israel Defense Forces officers brought Israeli civilians into detention centers and allowed them to watch and film Palestinian prisoners being tortured, according to survivor testimonies published this week by the Geneva-based Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor.

Prisoners held at detention centers in Zikim on the northern border of the Gaza Strip and at a site in southern Israel affiliated with Naqab Prison “told Euro-Med Monitor that the Israeli soldiers had purposefully presented them before Israeli civilians, falsely claiming that they were fighters affiliated with Palestinian armed factions and that they had taken part in the October 7 attack on Israeli towns,” the group said.

The former detainees said groups of 10-20 Israeli civilians were brought in and allowed to record torture sessions in which the men, stripped nearly naked, were beaten with metal batons, electrocuted, and had hot water poured over their heads. The ex-prisoners said some of the Israelis laughed while filming their torture.

The Navy plans to establish a second unmanned surface drone squadron in May, the head of U.S. Pacific Fleet told the West 2024 conference here Wednesday.

“This is not a contractor-owned, contractor-operated capability, but this is a uniformed capability that we’ll be able to own [and] operate unmanned capabilities that can be employed within particular spaces,” Adm. Samuel Paparo said.

The Navy created its first unit dedicated to surface drones, Unmanned Surface Vessel Division 1, in 2022.

'Israel will continue to oppose the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state,' Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said.

Webmaster addition:  Israel demands the world recognize its right to exist ... while denying that same right to others, particularly Palestine. That's where all this suffering and bloodshed comes from. If Israel would simply give to other nations that which it demands for itself, there would be peace!

Tuesday’s explosive news — that long before the FBI launched Crossfire Hurricane on July 31, 2016, the U.S. intelligence community had asked foreign intel agencies to surveil 26 people connected to Donald Trump — raises the question of whether our intelligence community colluded with the Clinton campaign in these efforts. After all, it was then-Biden campaign adviser and now-Secretary of State Antony Blinken who “set in motion the events that led to” 51 former intel officials issuing the public statement that falsely framed the Hunter Biden’s laptop story as Russian disinformation.

If a Biden campaign adviser conspired with some of the biggest names in the intelligence community a month before the 2020 election to bury the damaging scandal, it is no stretch to think the Hillary Clinton campaign might have sought an assist from the same folks to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.

We’ve also long known the Clinton campaign funded the Steele dossier, the primary evidence used by the FBI to obtain four Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act wiretap orders against a Trump campaign associate. The Clinton campaign’s efforts to peddle the Russia-collusion hoax to the FBI and the media are likewise well-established.

The Department of Justice has released what appear to be damning texts and images from Hunter Biden’s iPhone that date around the time he purchased a handgun and appear to indicate he was hooked on drugs at the time.

The first son is under investigation by the DOJ for allegedly lying on the federal firearms background check form required for the purchase of guns by indicating he was not addicted to or using illegal drugs.

The Justice Department’s 10-page filing contains texts and photos from shortly before and after the gun purchase, which indicate Hunter Biden was using drugs.

“Prior to October 12, 2018 (the date of the gun purchase), the defendant took photos of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia on his phone,” the court filing said. “Also, prior to his gun purchase, the defendant routinely sent messages about purchasing drugs.”

January 11 marks the 22nd anniversary of the founding of the prison component of the U.S. military base at Guantánamo Cuba. The U.S. military has been at Guantánamo for decades, of course, but the idea to use the isolated base as a prison where men — and in some cases boys — who had never been formally accused of a crime could be held forever, came from the office of Vice President Dick Cheney in 2002. In the intervening years, presidents and members of Congress of both parties have ignored civil rights, civil liberties and human rights to keep this abomination open. It’s up to the rest of us to demand its destruction.

Claire's Observations:  Unfortunately, to paraphrase Malcolm X, "Torture... has become as American as apple pie."  But this demand for closure of Gitmo, has to be coupled with an American governmental, and military iron-clad pledge, to never use torture again to obtain " information" which is generally non-actionable.

One shining example of non-violent interrogation, whose work was brilliantly  effective, was that of Hans Schaarf, during World War II.

An interrogator for the Nazis, Schaarf never used any brutality whatsoever in his interrogations of Americans or Canadians; only kindness. He intimated to the men he questioned that he already knew what their units were doing militarily.  But he would invite them out to cultural German events, and talk with them in a very low-key, gentle manner in a way to get them completely off guard.  His non-brutal, non-violent approach was so respected by the US and Allies that after the war, he was a favorite lecturer in the Western circuit about non-violent interrogation, and its value. He became an American citizen,  living in Arizona, and was a renowned potter.

Particularly at the executive level, this country desperately needs many more Schaarfs, and far fewer Cheneys and Haspells.
