Thought for the day

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right." -- George Orwell, 1984

Thanks for all the emails and cards!

A federal appeals court on Wednesday granted a request from the Justice Department to allow its investigators to regain access to the roughly 100 documents bearing classification markings that were seized by the FBI during its search at former President Donald Trump's Florida residence.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit agreed to put on hold a lower court's order that kept the subset of sensitive records off-limits for the Justice Department to use for investigative purposes, pending the review of the materials by an independent arbiter known as a special master.

In its 29-page opinion, the panel said it agreed with the Justice Department that the federal district court in South Florida likely erred in blocking investigators' use of the classified records and then requiring them to submit the sensitive documents to the outside arbiter for review.

The State Department suggests that the administration has been working to get to the 'root causes' of migration as the border crisis has more than quintupled under President Joe Biden's leadership.

While Biden's administration focuses on what causes migrants to leave their home countries and come to the U.S., it has failed to implement policies aimed at stopping the flow of illegal immigration over the southern border.

State Department spokesperson Ned Price, however, told Fox News on Wednesday that results cannot be achieved in short timelines – despite the nearly two-years of Biden's presidency.

A Malaysian defense contractor nicknamed 'Fat Leonard' who orchestrated one of the largest bribery scandals in US military history has been arrested in Venezuela after fleeing before his sentencing.

The international manhunt for Leonard Glenn Francis ended with his arrest by Venezuelan authorities Tuesday morning at the Caracas airport as he was about to board an airplane for another country, the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Interpol Venezuela Director General Carlos Garate Rondon said in a statement posted on Instagram that Francis came to Venezuela from Mexico. Rondon said he was headed to Russia.

The House on Wednesday passed a bill to reform the Electoral Count Act in ways Liz Cheney and other proponents say would clarify that the vice president's role in counting electoral votes is purely ceremonial, and is meant to head off future efforts to try to overturn election results.

It cleared the chamber on a mostly party-line vote, 229-203, with nine Republicans joining all Democrats to vote for it, even as Republican leaders 'whipped' against the bill.

'This bill will prevent Congress from illegally choosing the president itself,' said Cheney (R-Wyo.), who coauthored the bill with Democratic Rep. Zoe Lofgren (Calif.), who like Cheney sits on the House January 6th Committee.

  • Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a “partial mobilization” calling up 300,000 reservists effective September 21. He made clear that he no longer sees the Ukraine intervention as a limited “special military operation” but as a fight against “the entire military machine of the collective West.”
  • “In the event of a threat to the territorial integrity of our country and to defend Russia and our people, we will certainly make use of all weapon systems available to us. This is not a bluff,” Putin said in a televised address.
  • The four partially Russian-occupied oblasts (regions) of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson will hold referenda on accession to Russia starting on Friday.
  • Collective Western reaction was derision – “sign of failure,” said UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace; “panic,” said Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte; “sign of weakness, sign of Russian failure,” said US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken; “act of desperation,” said German Chancellor Olaf Scholz – topping all.
  • NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Russia will be unable to win a nuclear war and would face unprecedented consequences if it used nuclear weapons.
  • After fast and substantial gains last week, the Ukrainian offensive in the East/Center theater over the past three days has made minimal progress and lost momentum. The offensive in the South announced with fanfare (as a feint?) in late August has not taken off.

George Floyd ‘s Drug Conviction Will Stand - No Pardon Granted

The move to grant George Floyd a posthumous pardon was denied by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles.

Floyd’s lawyer was looking for a pardon for a drug conviction that has sat on his record since 2004. The arrest was made by a now-indicted ex-Houston police officer, Gerald Goines, who is under investigation, following a separate deadly drug raid that saw one Dennis Tuttle, 59, and his wife, Rhogena, killed.

In 2004, Floyd was arrested after selling $10 worth of crack in a police sting in which Goines was undercover. According to Allison Mathis, an attorney with the Harris County Public Defender’s Office, Floyd “was set up by a corrupt police officer intent on securing arrests rather than pursuing justice.”

The Numbers Are In: Biden Breaks ANOTHER Record

The Biden Administration is on a path to breaking as many records as possible. There are record housing costs. They’ve managed to amaze us with inflation rates. However, this next record isn’t one that surprised us. It’s one they’ve managed to break!

Although Kamala Harris continues to tout that the border is safe, they have officially reached over 2 million migrant encounters this fiscal year. According to Red State, “Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) announced Monday that there were 199,976 migrant encounters in July, taking the total for this fiscal year to 1.946 million encounters.

But CBP sources tell Fox that since then, the number has surpassed the two million mark, a previously unhit milestone. 2021, the previous record-setting year, saw more than 1.7 million encounters. The reality is dire, and it continues to worsen.”

“Happiest Place On Earth” Has Become Too Expensive To Visit The magical world of Disney isn’t as magical anymore. At least that’s what 68.3% of Disney enthusiasts say because of rising costs, according to a new study conducted by the gambling website Time2play. The New York Post reported most survey respondents said a Disney World vacation is too pricey for their families and the theme park has “lost its magic.”

In 1971, a ticket to Disney’s Magic Kingdom cost $3.50. Today’s price should be around $26.50, adjusting for inflation. Instead, entry into one park is between $109 and $159.

The survey found that 50% postponed a trip to Disney due to soaring ticket prices in recent years. Some respondents still hope to go but expect to pay around 35.7% more than previous visits. “Out of reach” is how 92% of respondents felt about whether families could afford current Disney prices.

Prices have increased substantially at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, and Disney World in

Orlando, Florida. Over the past 50 years, theme parks have increased their prices by 3,871%, according to the data tracking firm SJ Data Visualizations.

The new president of the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) said Wednesday he fears the country's fragile health-care system will deteriorate further without an injection of cash — and a plan to increase the number of doctors and other health care professionals.

Dr. Alika Lafontaine, an anesthesiologist in Grande Prairie, Alta., and the group's first Indigenous president, told CBC News that Canada's health care is in "dire" straits, with quality care severely limited in some parts of the country.

He pointed to recent emergency room closures in Ottawasouthwestern OntarioQuebec and other locales and eye-popping ER wait times in major cities like Toronto and Montreal as terrible precedents undermining the longstanding Canadian promise of timely access to care for all who need it.

Another day, another corrupt Democrat has been caught breaking the law.

A prominent Hawaii Democrat was sentenced to 40 months in prison for taking bribes in exchange for shaping legislation while in office.

Former Democratic Senate Majority Leader J. Kalani English pleaded guilty to honest services wire fraud earlier this year, admitting in court that he accepted bribes from a Hawaii business owner in exchange for shaping legislation that would benefit a company involved in publicly financed cesspool conversion projects.

English must surrender to authorities and begin serving his sentence on Aug. 16.

“English peddled the power and influence of his position as a Hawaii State Senator and Majority Leader to enrich himself and betray the trust bestowed upon him by those he was elected to serve,” U.S. prosecutors said in a sentencing memo urging the judge to send him to prison for three-and-a-half years.

In the fiscal year 2021, Border Patrol did not always assign migrants an "alien registration number" before they were released into the U.S. in an effort to speed up processing and move migrants out of overcrowded facilities, according to a new report.

The report, from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Inspector General, found that U.S. Border Patrol within U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) followed screening procedures to prevent migrants with "serious criminal backgrounds" or individuals on the terrorist watch list from entering the U.S.

A recent social media video challenge encourages people to cook chicken in NyQuil (acetaminophen, dextromethorphan, and doxylamine) or another similar OTC cough and cold medication, presumably to eat.

The challenge sounds silly and unappetizing -- and it is. But it could also be very unsafe. Boiling a medication can make it much more concentrated and change its properties in other ways. Even if you don't eat the chicken, inhaling the medication's vapors while cooking could cause high levels of the drugs to enter your body. It could also hurt your lungs. Put simply: Someone could take a dangerously high amount of the cough and cold medicine without even realizing it.

An earlier TikTok challenge urged people to take large doses of the allergy medicine diphenhydramine (sold OTC in many products, including some under the brand name Benadryl) to try to induce hallucinations. Prompted by news reports of teenagers needing to go to the emergency room or, in some cases, dying after participating in this challenge and taking too much medication, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warned the public about the danger of high doses of diphenhydramine.

Sen. Marco Rubio and 13 other GOP senators are proposing legislation that would make dealing fentanyl linked to a death a felony punishable by life in prison or a death sentence upon conviction.

“Fentanyl is killing Americans at a record high,” Rubio, R-Fla., said in a prepared statement. “This deadly drug is widespread throughout our country and has left no community untouched. This bill would make drug dealers pay the price for selling deadly fentanyl.”

If passed and signed into law, the Felony Murder for Deadly Fentanyl Distribution Act, would make distribution of fentanyl that results in a person’s death a felony murder punishable by either death or life in prison.

Drug overdose is now the leading cause of death for adults ages 18 to 45, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Democrat Pennsylvania U.S. Senate candidate John Fetterman once again appeared incoherent after giving a five-minute speech in Indiana County.

Similar to his previous mishaps, Fetterman again confused Washington D.C. with New Jersey as he concluded his speech with a call for the voters to send him to the nation’s capital.

“Eliminate the filibuster, get things done,” he struggled to say.

After an awkward pause in which he appeared slightly confused, Fetterman then said, “Send us back to New Jersey. Send me to D.C. for you.”

Several members of the audience could be heard chuckling upon hearing him utter New Jersey.

Former President Donald Trump hit TRUTH Social to unload on New York Attorney General Letitia James over the lawsuit filed against him; Trump calls James a “racist” who campaigned on “get Trump.”

The following was posted to Trump’s TRUTH Social account.

Another Witch Hunt by a racist Attorney General, Letitia James, who failed in her run for Governor, getting almost zero support from the public, and now is doing poorly against Law & Order A.G. candidate, highly respected Michael Henry. I never thought this case would be brought – until I saw her really bad poll numbers. She is a fraud who campaigned on a “get Trump” platform, despite the fact that the city is one of the crime and murder disasters of the world under her watch!

Attorney General Letitia “Peekaboo” James, a total crime fighting disaster in New York, is spending all of her time fighting for very powerful and well represented banks and insurance companies, who were fully paid, made a lot of money, and never had a complaint about me, instead of fighting murder and violent crime, which is killing New York State. She is a failed A.G. whose lack of talent in the fight against crime is causing record numbers of people and companies to flee New York. Bye, bye!

Lawyers for Civil Rights, a nonprofit immigrant advocacy group, filed the lawsuit on behalf of Alianza Americas, according to a press release Tuesday that described the latter group as "a network of migrant-led organizations supporting immigrants across the United States."

Alianza Americas has received a total of $1,383,947 from George Soros' Open Society Foundations between 2016 and 2020, according to grants.

The grants came from three of his nonprofits: Open Society Institute, Open Society Policy Center and Foundation to Promote Open Society.
