Thought for the day

"There will be, in the next generation or so, a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude, and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak, producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies, so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them, but will rather enjoy it." -- Aldous Huxley - "The Ultimate Revolution". Aldous Huxley's speech at Berkeley Language Center, March 20, 1962.

UK politicians should reflect on whether baseless anti-Russian propaganda amounts to hate-speech, which the West opposes so much, the Russian embassy to the United Kingdom said in a comment to TASS.

The embassy said it was outraged by "the apparent willingness of prominent UK officials to uncritically reproduce the vile and primitive anti-Russian propaganda of the Kiev regime."

Among other things, Russian diplomats noted recent remarks by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who claimed on Monday that the Russian military was setting up booby-trapped toys and installing torture chambers in Kherson. Meanwhile, earlier that day UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly "seemed to imply the responsibility of Russian Armed Forces in committing 'atrocities' of a sexual nature."

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has held meetings with the foreign ministers of Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Finland, and Sweden, who earlier arrived in Kiev.

"This visit to Ukraine is a gesture of the partner countries' strong support and solidarity with Ukraine, especially at a time of serious challenges. I am grateful to the Baltic and Northern Europe states for their unfailingly active and efficient assistance for Ukraine in defending its territorial integrity and independence," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Zelensky as saying in a social media post. According to the presidential website, Zelensky also highlighted the challenges of the winter period and emphasized the need to provide urgent support to the Ukrainian energy system.

Furthermore, he underscored the importance of these countries' participation in implementing the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian initiative, which was suggested by Ukraine, and the significant role of each partner's financial contribution to maintaining food security worldwide.

The US authorities have allocated vast funds to help Ukraine but have no precise information on how the money was used, Senator Bill Hagerty (Republican, Tennessee) said during a hearing of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

The hearing was devoted to nominations to a number of posts. One of the speakers was Richard Weiner, nominated to be United States Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Speaking about the bank’s potential effort to raise funds for rebuilding Ukraine, Weiner said: "Oversight is critical, accountability is critical, transparency is critical."

"We’ve got to make sure the money is spent for its intended uses. Ukraine is historically considered the third most corrupt country in Europe. And we’ve got to make sure that high integrity standards are applied to American taxpayers’ dollars spent in support of Ukraine," he added.

French retail chain Fnac has stopped selling a card game based around the far-left extremist group Antifa after a complaint by a French police union, removing the item from their website.

The French retailer removed the “Antifa: the Game” product from their website after complaints on social media over the weekend when the Union of Commissioners of the National Police (SCPN), a national police union, and members of the populist National Rally (RN) highlighted the game.

The game had been on sale on the retailer’s website since November 10th but was removed on Sunday evening, broadcaster BFMTV reports.

Kari Lake has spoken out against the rigged and conflict-ridden Arizona Midterm Elections, which were certified by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and several other counties today.

The Gateway Pundit reported earlier that the corrupt Maricopa County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to certify the rigged election that was overseen by MAGA-hating RINOs, a Katie Hobbs surrogate, and radical leftist gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs.

Today, Maricopa County certified its rotten election, despite hours of witness testimony of wrongdoing and an extremely flawed election in the public comment portion of their meeting.

Many in the audience pointed out the clear conflicts of interest in this election as well.

Adam Schiff is living up to his shady reputation.

He has admitted that the Democrats will erase evidence so the Republicans cannot get it before they take over the House at the start of the new year.

The Washington Examiner reported that Schiff stated, “The evidence will all be made public. Now, we will have to make sure that we scrub that evidence for personally identifiable information, that the evidence that we provide protects people’s security, it doesn’t put them at risk. So, there are things that we’re going to have to do along those lines.”

A 16-year-old Pennsylvania boy has been arrested in connection with the death of a 13-year-old girl.

Joshua Cooper is being charged as an adult with criminal homicide, possessing instruments of crime and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, police said in a statement.

According to a Bensalem Police Department news release, police received a 911 call on Friday to alert them about the incident.

“The caller stated that her daughter received an Instagram video chat from a 16-year-old acquaintance.  During the video chat, the 16-year-old stated that he had just killed someone,” the release stated.

“He then flipped the video image and showed the legs and feet of someone covered in blood.  He then asked for assistance with disposal of the body.”

Fearing what a conservative Supreme Court might do, Democrats are rushing through a bill to “protect” same-sex marriage. Their latest bill is an attempt to force states to recognize these marriages, out of fear that the SCOTUS will soon overturn Obergefell, the ruling that legalized same-sex marriage.

Many conservative critics warned that this bill does not fully protect religious Americans who object to same-sex marriage. An amendment protects religious institutions (like churches and schools) but not individuals. But it looks like the Democrats’ own language in the bill could torpedo their own agenda.

Although it is not the optimal tool for every job, a .22 pistol can get a lot done. In my neck of the woods, it is not uncommon at all to see fishermen, hikers, and hunters packing a .22 rimfire. Apparently, such guns also have their uses outside of snake-ridden south Louisiana. Smith & Wesson has been producing compact 22 double-action revolvers for over 100 years with the “kit gun” idea in mind.

Other brands have come along and expanded on the idea to include autoloading pistols and even single-action revolvers. Of the latter, the Heritage Rouge Rider probably reigns supreme. These pot-metal rimfire copies of the old Colt Single Action can be had for under $200 and they shoot straight. Their main competition, in the Ruger Bearcat and Single Six, is more refined but also more expensive by a significant margin. In 2020, Ruger released the Wrangler with all the basic features one would expect on their rimfire revolvers with a Heritage price tag.

Democrats have won a majority in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the first time in 12 years.

The development comes as Donald Trump-endorsed candidates at the top of the ticket underperformed in the Rust Belt and motivated Democrats and independents, leading to mini-blue waves in states like Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Two races remained too close to call for weeks after Election Day. After counting outstanding mail and provisional ballots, Montgomery County officials recorded that Democrat Melissa Cerrato had a 59-vote lead over incumbent Republican Rep. Todd Stephens, who has since conceded.

With the 2024 presidential election on the distant horizon, the Republican National Committee is set to determine who will be its chairman for the next term.

So far, two candidates have thrown their hats into the ring: sitting chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell.

Lindell, a staunch Donald Trump ally, announced his intentions to run on Monday while on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast.

Even as the Daily Mail was using the phrase “curse of the crypto whizz kids” to describe two sudden deaths in the cryptocurrency world, another crypto billionaire was reported dead under circumstances the lend themselves to mystery.

Vyacheslav Taran, 53, head of the Libertex Group crypto exchange died Friday after the helicopter in which he was a passenger crashed, according to the Daily Mail.

His death came two days after Tiantian Kullander, co-founder of the Amber Group, a Hong Kong-based digital asset company, died in his sleep at 30 years old, according to the New York Post.

As if that was not enough to shake up the crypto world reeling from the scandal surrounding the collage of the FTX crypto exchange, Kullander’s death came roughly a month after 29-year-old cryptocurrency success story Nikolai Mushegian was found drowned on a Puerto Rico beach. Mushegian had earlier claimed the CIA and Mossad were out to kill him, according to the Daily Mail.

Four Democratic senators are urging Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to reconsider his department’s plans to prepare for the end of Title 42, a major Trump-era policy used to expel certain illegal migrants.

Democratic Sens. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, Mark Kelly of Arizona, Jon Tester of Montana and Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire argued the Biden administration isn’t prepared for the surge of illegal migrants expected at the border when the policy ends, according to a Nov. 18 letter they sent to Mayorkas.

Title 42 — a World War II-era section of public health law that allows for the exclusion of individuals from entering the country when the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention determines “there is serious danger of the introduction of [a communicable] disease into the United States” — was invoked at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic more than two years ago.

Just when the automobile industry thought it was out of the clutches of the Covid-induced supply chain SNAFU that had taken place over the last several years, it looks as though China's strict Covid policy threatens to pull them back in again.

"At least three major automakers" are once again shuttering production, according to a new report from Bloomberg this week. Honda has shut down operations in Wuhan for the time being due to "limitations around movement" in the area, the report says.

The company also suspended operations at a lawnmower engine plant in Chongqing.

Washington and Seoul are reportedly discussing plans to ramp up anti-submarine military exercises set to begin next year. The talks came amid soaring tensions in the region, and just days before North Korea pledged to further develop its nuclear arsenal.

While some details of the biannual 'Silent Shark' drills remain undecided, they are set to be "bigger than those of the past, given the North heightening tensions with its dozens of missile tests in recent months," the Korea Times reported last week, citing an unnamed navy official.

Authorities in Central African Republic have opened an investigation after a low-flying fighter jet dropped explosives near a base for Russian mercenaries working with the country's military.

The attack took place in the early hours of Monday at the Cotenaf base in Bossangoa, where witnesses said both the base used by Russia's Wagner Group and surrounding homes had been hit.

"The Russian paramilitaries showed their indignation very early by shooting in the air from 5 to 6 o’clock. For the moment the city is quiet, the shops are not yet open and people are afraid to go about their business,” said Robert Faradanga, a local community journalist.

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the aircraft that dropped the explosives.

President Emmanuel Macron begins his three-day state visit to the US on Wednesday bolstered by shared bilateral visions on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and China’s assertiveness in the Indo-Pacific. But President Joe Biden’s latest Inflation Reduction Act has alarmed the EU, and the French leader will have to stake a firm position on US subsidies and protectionism.

The official billing ahead of the first state visit of Joe Biden’s presidency was all roses, with the White House describing the guest, French President Emmanuel Macron, as the “dynamic leader” of America's oldest ally.

Nearly two years after Biden took office, the diplomatic pageantry of a state visit – which was put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic –  is finally back. The war in Ukraine has brought the two countries, with their shared revolutionary histories as well as a fair share of prickly diplomatic patches, closer.

But there’s a thorn in the Old Continent’s side as Macron begins his three-day visit to the US on Tuesday. Tensions have been simmering between Europe and the USA over the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which Biden signed into law on August 16, 2022. The law authorises a $370 billion package of green subsidies, which will be allocated to the construction of wind turbines, solar panels, microprocessors and electric vehicles.

If found guilty they could now face five years in jail, a $10,000 fine, or both.

House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said during a press conference on Tuesday that Christian conservative Nick Fuentes "has no place" in the Republican Party and his ideology "has no place in society at all" just minutes before claiming the GOP will not "go after people simply because of their political views" when they take back power.

"I don't think anybody should be spending any time with Nick Fuentes," McCarthy told the press, referencing Trump's dinner with Ye and Fuentes. "He has no place in this Republican Party."

"I condemn his ideology," McCarthy said, "it has no place in society -- at all!"

Another 1.8 million chickens were ordered to be culled in Nebraska after agriculture officials analyzed yet another bird flu outbreak on a farm.

The latest culling comes after 50 million birds have been slaughtered nationwide to try and contain the ongoing outbreak according to AP, so who knows if it's actually true.

Fortunately the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) issued a report, which adds that this is the 13th farm in the state to suffer an outbreak this year. According to the report, 6.8 million birds have been killed in Nebraska - the second-most behind Iowa, which has killed 15.5 million.

After the affected flock is culled, the NDA will establish a 6.2-mile control zone around the affected premises.

In these willfully ignorant times, the powers that be seem, in their haste to be politically correct, to forget that America fought its bloodiest war to end human bondage. Almost three-quarters of a million men died, yet the Civil War is being refought with fact-purging propaganda that makes cartoon villains of great American soldiers, while one group of citizens is robbed of their heritage in order to please another.

About one year ago I found myself in a car with a New York couple, both guests of an ex-headmaster (sorry, head of school; use of the word “headmaster” leads one to a woke gulag) of my prep school who was accompanying me to an unveiling of a wall honoring an ex-classmate of mine who had recently passed away. I had contributed to the memorial wall. The man, whom I had never met before, talked about how when he was on the tennis circuit he was given only ten minutes to shower and dress in certain American country clubs during the grass summer-season tournaments following Wimbledon. The reason was because he was Jewish. The trouble was that I had played the exact same tournaments from 1957 until 1964, as had players like Sidney Schwartz, Herb Flam, Ron Holmberg, Mike Green, and Ed Rubineau, all Jewish and all ranked in the top fifty. Although I was a guest and the man a friend of the headmaster, I told him in no uncertain terms that he was a liar and that I doubted very much if he had ever played in the tournaments he was now denouncing, places like Newport, South Orange, Southampton, and Marion. Like most liars when caught out, he insisted his story was true but then dropped the subject of tennis altogether.

Iran’s parliament has just approved the accession of the Islamic Republic to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), previously enshrined at the Samarkand summit last September, marking the culmination of a process that lasted no less than 15 years.

Iran has already applied to become a member of the expanding BRICS+, which before 2025 will be inevitably configured as the alternative Global South G20 that really matters.

Iran is already part of the Quad that really matters – alongside BRICS members Russia, China and India. Iran is deepening its strategic partnership with both China and Russia and increasing bilateral cooperation with India.

Iran is a key Chinese partner in the New Silk Roads, or Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). It is set to clinch a free trade agreement with the Eurasia Economic Union (EAEU) and is a key node of the International North-South Transportation Corridor (INSTC), alongside Russia and India.

Call this a late addition for the 2022 Darwin Award competition. [D.C. Activist Who Pushed for City’s Soft-on-Crime Bill Shot and Killed, Townhall, November 21, 2022]:

Kelvin Blowe was shot and killed in Washington, D.C., on the same day the city council voted unanimously to pass a bill he advocated for that reduces penalties for serious offenses such as robbery, burglary, carjackings, and carrying a firearm without a license.

The Washington Post reports Blowe had spent over five years in prison for robbery, and the experience “instilled in him a passion to right inequities he believed he encountered.”

After getting out, he joined DC Justice Lab, one of the groups that pushed to overhaul the city’s criminal code. He testified in support of the proposed bill in December.

The Marine Corps veteran, who was diagnosed with PTSD, was working as a security guard and was taking coworkers home last week when he was shot and killed when a gunman “emerged from a stolen car after a crash with Blowe. Authorities said they believe Blowe also possessed a weapon, as they recovered a gun next to his body… Blowe’s family said they did not know he had a weapon.”

Recently, various health agencies around the world have approved and are actively pushing for another COVID booster shot, meant to enhance the vaccine efficacy against a COVD-19 infection.

However, many studies have found that the boosters do not make a significant  difference in protection, especially in terms of protection against reinfection. In fact, the latest data shows vaccine efficacy against the coronavirus tends to even drop into the negatives after just a few months.

What Does Negative Efficacy Mean?

It is a well known fact that COVID vaccine effectiveness wanes quickly as time goes on; this is confirmed by countless studies.

Although the official narrative for COVID-19 vaccines nowadays only emphasizes its efficacy on protection against ICU admission and death rates, it actually implies the indisputable fact that vaccines don’t protect, contrary to their design, against infection or even symptomatic infection, especially after the emergence of various Omicron variants.

Even the protection two shots offers against hospitalization drops to about 40 percent after less than a year. It’s actually looking worse for protection against severe symptoms, as efficacy rates seem to drop into the negatives about five months into full vaccination.

When a vaccine’s efficacy drops into the negatives, it means that vaccination actually elevates the risks of hospitalization and severe diseases rather than reducing the risks. In simple terms, it does more harm than good when the efficacy is negative.

Sometimes the internet being eternal works to our advantage. Recently, there’s been a dustup in European politics over a three-year old video of now Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stepping on the third rail of European politics.

In that video she openly explained that colonialism in Europe isn’t over and she tied it to African immigration into Europe, which Italy has born the brunt of thanks to the EU’s rules which force countries to accept anyone that shows up on their shores.

The mechanism for France’s dirty colonial secret is they still control fourteen West African nations through a French colonial currency (CFA Franc) issued by France.

Now, since Meloni’s rant, the CFA Franc has been slightly revised but the real source of its power over West Africa was not, more on this later.

What’s important is that this video has all of a sudden resurfaced at a time when Italy and France are involved in a major row over France’s (and Davos’) latest attempt to paint Meloni as some heartless Fascist for denying a French NGO boatload of migrants from North Africa into Italy.

Twitter will no longer enforce its Covid-19 misinformation policy, under which users who deviated from prevailing establishment narratives frequently had their accounts locked or suspended.

The longstanding policy did not apply to misinformation from government officials, who regularly lied about things such as transmission, masks, vaccine efficacy, side effects, or any of the other 'science' which turned out to be patently false.

Danielle Smith introduced the Sovereignty within a United Canada Act in the legislature Tuesday while trying to reassure Albertans that it has nothing to do with leaving the country.

Government documents say it's not certain the legislation will survive a court challenge but it's "likely" that it will.

"A long and painful history of mistreatment and constitutional overreach from Ottawa has for decades caused tremendous frustration for Albertans," Smith told reporters.

"In response, we're finally telling the federal government: 'No more.' It's time to stand up for Alberta."

Smith promised a "sovereignty act" during her run for United Conservative Party leader. She won that race on Oct. 6 with roughly 54 per cent of votes on the sixth ballot. She was sworn in as premier Oct. 11.
