Thought for the day

"The masses have never thirsted after truth. They turn aside from evidence that is not to their taste, preferring to deify error, if error seduce them. Whoever can supply them w/illusions is easily their master; whoever attempts to destroy their illusions is always their victim." -- Gustave Le Bon

The last known Pearl Harbor survivor in Nevada died in his sleep this week at the age of 99, but not before joking around with his nurses once last time.

Riley was charged in 2021 with obstruction after authorities said he told a Jan. 6 attendee to remove photographs from their Facebook page.

Riley then deleted messages he exchanged with the person several days after the person was arrested, according to charging documents.

Riley’s lawyers lodged a motion for acquittal during the trial. Jackson reserved judgement on the motion until after the trial.

“Michael Riley never obstructed any grand jury proceeding, nor did he attempt or intend to do so, and he looks forward to continuing to raise all legal arguments in his defense consistent with the briefing schedule set by the Court on the still pending motion for judgment of acquittal, on which the Court reserved ruling until after the verdict, and in any future appeal, to the extent one becomes necessary,” Christopher Macchiaroli, one of the lawyers, told The Epoch Times via email.

Riley plans to appeal if the court denies the motion for acquittal on the charge for which the jurors returned a guilty verdict.

Heading down the stretch of the 2022 midterm elections, white suburban women - who comprise 20% of the nation's electorate - are swinging back to Republicans in a big way.

A new Wall Street Journal poll finds that white women in the suburbs now favor Republican congressional candidates by a whopping 15% margin -- a jaw-dropping 27-percentage-point move just since August.

The shift has largely been fueled by the group's deepening concerns over inflation and the economy. About 54% say the country is already in a recession while 74% say the economy is heading in the wrong direction. Those numbers are up August readings of 43% and 59%, respectively.

Democrat hopes that the Supreme Court's June overturning of Roe v Wade would spark women to rally around Democratic candidates haven't been realized. The journal found that rising prices are the top concern, with 34% of suburban white women giving it top weight. Abortion comes in third, with just 16% calling it their top issue.

State actors that include China’s communist regime are seeking to influence next week’s U.S. midterm elections, according to the nation’s cybersecurity chief.

China, Iran, and Russia may all seek to influence or otherwise interfere with U.S. democratic processes, according to Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Director Jen Easterly.

“We are concerned about Russia and Iran and China trying to influence our elections,” Easterly said during a Nov. 1 talk at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington-based think tank.

It’s a significant concern when you think about these adversaries who are trying to sow discord, that are trying to break us apart as Americans and are trying to undermine integrity in our elections.”

Easterly’s comments follow closely behind several revelations in recent months regarding how hostile foreign powers are attempting to undermine stability in the United States.

Axios quoted US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, who warned in a call with reporters that avian influenza or bird flu continues to wreak havoc on the poultry industry and could result in a massive shortage of big birds at supermarkets ahead of Thanksgiving.

Vilsack said finding 20-pound turkeys at supermarkets in some regions across the country could be very challenging.

"Some of the turkeys that are being raised right now for Thanksgiving may not have the full amount of time to get to 20 pounds," he said, while addressing the Biden administration's concerns on elevated food inflation.

Vilsack said supermarkets should be well stocked with turkeys but finding a traditional-size one (15-20 pounds) in the next two weeks will be difficult: "It's going to be there, maybe smaller, but it'll be there."

Austria’s government is looking to ban the use of new fossil fuel heaters as of next year and replace very old oil and coal heaters with climate-friendly options by 2025, Euractiv reports.

Austria, like the other EU countries, aims to cut its reliance on Russian gas as soon as possible. The government says that abandoning Russian gas should happen simultaneously with adopting renewable heat options.

Before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Austria received around 80% of the natural gas it consumed from Russia. As of August, this high dependence on Russian gas flows had dropped to below 50%, the government said.

Despite Jamie Dimon's infamous condescension of crypto, banking giant JPMorgan just executed its first-ever cross-border transaction using decentralized finance (DeFi) on a public blockchain.

As Cointelegraph reports, the trade was facilitated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s (MAS) Project Guardian on Nov. 2 - which was established as part of a pilot program to “explore potential decentralized finance (DeFi) applications in wholesale funding markets.”

Bloomberg reports that JPMorgan issued tokenized S$100,000 ($71,000) and then traded it for tokenized yen with Tokyo-based banking firm SBI Digital Asset Holdings.

Singapore’s largest bank - DBS Bank, and business leadership platform Oliver Wyman Forum also took part in the pilot program.

“Today was the first step to show that we can actually trade on these public networks,” said Tyrone Lobban, head of Blockchain Launch and Onyx Digital Assets at JPMorgan, in an interview.

So it turns out the US intelligence cartel has been working intimately with online platforms to regulate the “cognitive infrastructure” of the population.

This is according to a new investigative report by The Intercept, based on documents obtained through leaks and an ongoing lawsuit, on the “retooling” of the Department of Homeland Security from an agency focused on counterterrorism to one increasingly focused on fighting “misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation” online.

While the DHS’s hotly controversial “Disinformation Governance Board” was shut down in response to public outcry, the Intercept report reveals what authors Lee Fang and Ken Klippenstein describe as “an expansive effort by the agency to influence tech platforms” in order to “curb speech it considers dangerous”:

According to a draft copy of DHS’s Quadrennial Homeland Security Review, DHS’s capstone report outlining the department’s strategy and priorities in the coming years, the department plans to target “inaccurate information” on a wide range of topics, including “the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, racial justice, U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the nature of U.S. support to Ukraine.”

The man who allegedly attacked Paul Pelosi is an illegal immigrant, U.S. officials have confirmed.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged an immigration detainer on Canadian national David DePape with San Francisco County Jail, Nov. 1, following his Oct. 28 arrest,” the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) told The Epoch Times in an email.

DHS is the parent agency of ICE, which is tasked with removing people who are in the United States illegally.

Immigration detainers are placed on suspects who are illegal immigrants. They are meant to prevent state or local officials from releasing the suspects.

If a suspect is due to be released, the detainer means officials hand over the person to federal officials, unless local officials defy the request.

At his press conference yesterday, Powell made several hawkish sounding statements to the market and investors, indicating that the central bank would be steadfast and its resolve to continue raising rates even if those rate hikes were smaller than expected.

The Dossier has obtained the “digital tool” that at least one branch of the U.S. military has been using to mass-deny soldiers who apply for an exemption to the Pentagon’s unlawful Covid-19 injection mandate.

This system, known as the "Religious Accommodations Appeal Generator" (RAGG), has been used by the Coast Guard to strike down nearly 99% of exemption requests, utilized specifically to enforce the Pentagon’s unlawful mRNA mandate. The collective sorting computer tool was implemented despite the fact that federal laws and Pentagon policies require every religious exemption application to be treated on an individualized basis.

While the U.S. Coast Guard is supposed to be providing an “individualized look,” the system is being utilized to swiftly deny the prospect for exemptions from the mRNA drugs, which carry an increasing worrisome side effect profile. The Florida Department of Health recently released a study showing that the mRNA shots carry significant risks specifically for fighting age males.

Nonetheless, the Coast Guard has maintained a stunning a near 99% denial rate in response to exemption requests.

The RAGG is used to sort and then generate a blanket response to arguments against receiving the injections. This response would then appear in a dismissal letter “explaining” the exemption denial.

WATCH: Dr. Phil ROASTS Massively Failing Democrat

Celebrity psychologist Dr. Phil McGraw spoke with podcaster Joe Rogan about Democrat John Fetterman and his health following a stroke.

The Democrat is attempting to win a Senate seat in Pennsylvania, but many questions about his health condition in recent days. This has led Dr. Phil to question why anyone should put their trust in Fetterman to be able to do the job that he is vying for.

The debate performance given by Fetterman when he took the stage against Dr. Oz is viewed as a disaster by most who watched it or even those who saw clips of it after the fact. They saw a man struggling with basic motor skills, which left them wondering if he was up for the job.

A stroke can cause the loss of the ability to string together coherent sentences and impact one's health. Thus, the fact that Fetterman suffered a stroke in May accounts for his behaviors in the debate. However, many wonder why he is still seeking this critical office and not taking care of his health instead.
